How cognitive task behavior is generated by brain network interactions is a central question in neuroscience. Answering this question calls for the development of novel analysis tools that can firstly capture neural signatures of task information with high spatial and temporal precision (the "where and when") and then allow for empirical testing of alternative network models of brain function that link information to behavior (the "how"). We outline a novel network modeling approach suited to this purpose that is applied to noninvasive functional neuroimaging data in humans. We first dynamically decoded the spatiotemporal signatures of task information in the human brain by combining MRI-individualized source electroencephalography (EEG) with multivariate pattern analysis (MVPA). A newly developed network modeling approach—dynamic activity flow modeling—then simulated the flow of task-evoked activity over more causally interpretable (relative to standard functional connectivity [FC] approaches) resting-state functional connections (dynamic, lagged, direct, and directional). We demonstrate the utility of this modeling approach by applying it to elucidate network processes underlying sensory–motor information flow in the brain, revealing accurate predictions of empirical response information dynamics underlying behavior. Extending the model toward simulating network lesions suggested a role for the cognitive control networks (CCNs) as primary drivers of response information flow, transitioning from early dorsal attention network-dominated sensory-to-response transformation to later collaborative CCN engagement during response selection. These results demonstrate the utility of the dynamic activity flow modeling approach in identifying the generative network processes underlying neurocognitive phenomena. This article analyses the offering table from the chapel of Satinteti, a Memphite Priestess of Hathor, dating to the First Intermediate Period. The false-door and side-pieces are now held by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (24.593a–c). The offering table, however, is still in the Teti Pyramid Cemetery and was fashioned from a reused block from the chapel of Princess Watetkhethor Zeshzeshet, the eldest daughter of King Teti of the Sixth Dynasty. The former inscriptions on the offering table are transcribed and the block digitally resituated on the southern wall of room B5 in Watetkhethor's chapel. The dating for the chapel is assessed from several perspectives, and the technique and motivations for the reuse of the offering table are discussed. It is proposed that Satinteti may have deliberately sought a block from the chapel of this earlier, eminent woman in the completion of her own monument. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article publishes a photograph and line-drawing of an inscribed, multi-figure architrave belonging to Pepymer, who describes himself as a son of vizier Kagemni Memi of the 6th Dynasty. The architrave was excavated in the Teti Pyramid Cemetery, Saqqara, by Cecil Firth and Battiscombe Gunn between 1920–22, although an illustration of the architrave was not published at the time. A photographic print is held in the Griffith Institute, University of Oxford (Gunn MSS, xiv, 55 [2]), and the architrave is now kept in the storage magazines for the Saqqara archaeological area. This architrave is of particular interest because it attests two members of vizier Kagemni’s kin group who are otherwise not named in his mastaba: a possible son or grandson, Pepymer, and his son, Kagemni. The decoration of the architrave and its inscriptions are discussed, and it is contextualized among the wider commemorative activities in the Teti Pyramid Cemetery which honoured Kagemni’s memory. A new outline of Kagemni’s kin group can be hypothetically proposed, combining this architrave with other loose, decorated blocks from this cemetery and the interior decoration of Kagemni’s mastaba.
