Croatian Busha is among the world's smallest cattle breeds and belongs to the group of so called short-horns cattle (Bos brachyeros europeus). Croatian Busha is one of the three autochthonous cattle in Croatia. The number of Busha is constantly decreasing, and one of the possibilities for rescuing the breed is the supply of milk, meat and processed products through agrotourism. The aim of this research is to identify the opinions and attitudes of the respondents about the introduction of Busha's meat and dairy products into the offer of agrotourism. For the research purposes, an on-line survey was conducted on 508 randomly selected respondents. The Busha is relatively unknown to the respondents (59.8%), but has great potential for agrotourism. Most of the respondents (70.5%) agree with the idea of branding Busha’s products to increase their popularity and create additional value to the farm. Potential consumers support Busha as an autochthonous breed with value-added that endorses tradition and support its appearance in Croatian agrotouristic offer.

The Marasca cherry (Prunus cerasus L. var. Marasca) is known as a fruit variety since the 16th century when it was cultivated and produced its main product - liqueur Maraschino. The cultivation of Marasca is limited to the area of Northern and Central Dalmatia, more precisely from Zadar to Makarska. The aim of the paper was to determine the economic efficiency of plantation and cultivation of 141 ha of Marasca cherry in Zadar County, Croatia, production, and development capacity of the selected area in 25 year period. Calculation determined Costs and revenues were the basis for calculating the relevant economic size and indicators of cherry production, as well as business operations in general. The total cost of soil preparation and plantation of Marasca cherry is 2.030.430, 50 €. The value of investment in equipment, mechanization, and facilities are 962.651, 39 €. Costs of soil preparation and plantation represent Total costs of plantation and cultivation for 23 years period are 12.538.710, 72 €. Regular total costs of production on 141 ha of Marasca cherry production are highest in the 7th year from the plantation and are around 798.645, 17 €. Total revenues in 23 years period are 19.403.391, 66 €. Highest revenues are from 8th to 23rd year of the orchard. Values of economic indicators ; productivity, economic efficiency, and profitability show that investment in business during the 23 year period is economically efficient.

The research on the potential of aroma profiles/chemical biomarkers in unifloral honey characterisation: The case of Satureja spp. honey types was presented.

Floristic research was conducted in the settlement of Vrpolje near the town of Knin. An inventorization and valorisation of fruits in 42 private gardens was completed. Planting of fruit crops in home gardens is the traditional approach to decorating garden particularly in rural areas, making these gardens specific and contribute to the typical image of rurall and scape in the area of research. Considering the type of habitat (by Erhardtet al., 2002) dominate the trees (12 families ; 85, 71%) and climbing plants (2 families ; 14, 29%). Deciduous species. Allochthonous species (13 ; 92, 86%) were significantly more frequent than in digenous. Analysis dendroflora the geographical origin shows the highest representation of plants of Asian descent (8 ; 57, 14%), followed by the species from Europe and Asia (3 ; 21, 43%) and so on. Research has determined a larger proportion of informally decorated gardens, with out a defined style and garden composition, but typical for the field of research. This paper describes the importance and use of wild fruit trees in the landscape design of Knin.

Only greening island Visovac begins 1445 th year the arrival of the Franciscans in the island. The small island is located in lake Visovac, surface 15000 m2. Belongs to the Krka National Park. The monastery gardens are part of the Croatian cultural heritage and as such worthy of attention. The paper is inventoried garden dendroflora narrower part Visovac monastery in order to develop a database for further landscape and security operations. Inventory and valorisation of the park was carried out on several occasions during the second half of 2012. In the garden areas of the Franciscan monastery on the island Visovac most common are fruit and ornamental woody species (alien and exotic) from groups: angiosperms (Angyospermae) with 42 plant species and gymnosperms (Gymnospermae) with four plant species. Formatting garden area with plant species is derived amateur. Style features orchard and garden area representative meet. An interesting element is arboreal and boxwood "labyrinth" (Buxus sempervirens) hedge in the central part of the garden of the monastery.

The usage of house plants has its roots in the far history of humanity. Most house plants used in decorating interiors come from tropicaland sub- tropical areas, while a smaller number comes from moderate climates. When choosing plants for interior decoration, it is important to note that some species aren't always „fashionable“, and also that the populace has differing opinions regarding the choice. The goal of this paper is to determine the appropriate house plants for the interior of an institution of higher education and to examine the visual impression of the whole (visual „gestalt“) via a survey regarding specific chosenpotted plants intheinterior rooms of the Polytechnic of Marko Marulić in Knin. Survey research was conducted during November and December 2014 on a sample of 43 respondents (students and employees). Different palm trees and potted plants are best evaluated and accepted for use in the interior of the polytechnic.

Istra je regija s razvijenom turističkom ponudom u čemu značajno mjesto zauzima agroturizam kao selektivni oblik ruralnog turizma. Cilj je rada na temelju istraživanja odabranog agroturističkog gospodarstva – studij slučaja, utvrditi mogućnosti te osnovna ograničenja razvitka agroturizma na području Istre. Istraživanje je pokazalo da se poslovanje agroturističkog gospodarstva temelji na vlastitoj poljoprivrednoj proizvodnji, obiteljskoj radnoj snazi, znanju i edukaciji, suradnji s partnerima u okruženju, autohtonoj gastronomskoj ponudi uz razvijenu ponudu pratećih usluga te prikladan marketing. Osnovna ograničenja daljnjem razvoju prepoznaju se u administraciji i zakonskom okviru koji uređuje poslovanje te nedostatku povoljnih financijskih sredstava. Kao ograničenje prisutna je i nedovoljna educiranost pružatelja usluga u specifičnim znanjima (primjerice marketing) te (ne)dostupnost takvih tipova edukacije.

Cilj rada bio je deskriptivno analizirati stanje proizvodnje, potrošnje i tržišta gnojiva u Republici Hrvatskoj. S prosječnom godišnjom ostvarenom proizvodnjom od 1.201.000 t i prodajom od 1.149.000 t, tvornica Petrokemija d.d. iz Kutine je ključni gospodarski subjekt koji se bavi proizvodnjom i prodajom mineralnih gnojiva u Republici Hrvatskoj. Domaće tržište mineralnih gnojiva u recentnom razdoblju karakterizira smanjenje potražnje, značajno povećanje cijena i pozitivna vanjskotrgovinska bilanca. Proizvodnja i potrošnja gnojiva u Republici Hrvatskoj u budućem razdoblju treba respektirati zahtjeve za održivim razvojem poljoprivrede i zaštitom okoliša.

Using AHP method research compares organic and conventional production of agricultural products in Croatia based on level of fulfilment of the three criteria: (1) acceptable price premium, (2) cost competitivenesss, (3) resource demands. Average price premium that surveyed Croatian consumers are willing to pay for organic foods is insufficient to overcome the higher cost price and resource demands. Only organic extensive production of meat, due to its cost competitiveness, indicates more economic sustainability than related conventional production.

'Creska' sweet cherry is local variety of sweet cherry traditionally produced in the island of Cres, in the region of northern Adriatic. The variety is known by high quality and firm fruits, good aroma and size. It is preferred by farmers due to high price and high income that are among their first seasonal income, already in the first half of June. The fruits of 'Creska' are also preferred by consumers and, due to its uniqueness and ''local'' image, its marketing has a potential in an offer within touristic market, in the beginning of touristic season. However, there are few scientific data on this variety, and there were no evaluations of their quality and performance in comparison to other well-known varieties. Recently, the evaluation was done during two subsequent years. ‘Creska’ sweet cherry was evaluated in commercial orchard, where the plants were growing in completely randomized design, and compared with 'Bing', 'Sue', and 'Stella'. The rootstock used was Prunus mahaleb, vegetatively propagated and traditionally used in the system of production typical for this area. The goal of this research was to give a basic pomological description of 'Creska' sweet cherry, based on the following parameters: length, wideness and thickness of the cherry fruit, the length of its stem, its weight and randman. We are also giving some conclusions on ethno-agricultural facts and economic value of the production of ‘Creska’ in the island of Cres. Given results show that 'Creska' have excellent potential for production, and it is at least as good as standard varieties, including the heritage value important for local producers and touristic sector in north Adriatic region.

Honey aroma, one of the most typical features of honey, is very complex and involves many tens of volatiles compounds. One of the common honeys from Dalmation region of Croatia is Sage honey. Isolation of volatiles from two samples of Salvia officinalis L. unifloral honey using one methods ultrasonic solvent extraction (USE), followed by gas chromatography and mass spectrometry analyses (GC, GC-MS). The solvent used for USE was mixture of pentane and diethyl eter (1:2 v/v). Benzoic acid and phenylacetic acid where the major compounds of ultrasonic solvent extracts. The scavenging ability of the series of concentratios of the honey ultrasonic solvent extracts and the corresponding honey samples was tested by DPPH (1, 1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) assay.

The most important early season and soft fruit crops in Croatia are strawberries, and sweet and sour cherries. The strawberry is undoubtedly the most popular soft fruit, which is supported by significant increase of strawberry production and consumption during the last 15 years. Although the fruits of strawberries and cherries may be stored for one to three weeks, phytopathogenic fungi that develop on these fruits may cause decay. The most frequent pathogen on strawberry fruits is Botrytis cinerea (gray mould), Monilinia fructigena and Monilinia laxa (brown rot) on cherry fruits. There is also Glomerella cingulata (Colletotrichum spp.) which causes fruit anthracnose. Besides these fungal species, polyphagous species, such as Rhizopus stolonifer (soft rot), and species from the genus Mucor, Pencillium (e.g. P. expansum), Alternaria (e.g. A. alternata) and others may be present on the fruits of strawberries and cherries. The consequence of fungal decay may be the total loss of fruits after the harvest. These pathogen fungi are present on fruits during the growing season and before the harvest. Therefore, the implementation of appropriate protection measures is important in order to decrease losses. The magnitude of postharvest losses is largely influenced by the environmental conditions such as temperature and relative humidity in which they are kept after harvest. In strawberry production, farmers experience 2% loss in a good year and 5-10% in a bad year. Post-harvest treatment is important. Strawberries can lose quality within 2-3 h after harvest. There is a 5-7% loss during the first 2 h and after 2-3 h quality deteriorates exponentially if the fruit are not properly treated. This paper presents methods of postharvest management on economic results in early ripening soft fruit production. In the framework of risk management, it analyses production risk of fungal diseases in postharvest technology and strategies to cope with it.

Sažetak Cilj ovog rada je bio utvrditi u kojoj mjeri različita genetska osnova (osobito utjecaj duroka kao terminalne pasmine) utječe na kemijski sastav (sadržaji vode i suhe tvari, te bjelančevina, masti i NaCl) i druga svojstva pršuta (pH, kiselinski i peroksidni broj) značajna u smislu njegove kvalitete. Stoga je u tu svrhu zaklano 10 svinja genotipa (veliki jorkšir, ♀ x njemački landras, ♂) x durok, ♂ (VJxNJL) xD i 10 svinja genotipa švedski landras, ♀ x veliki jorkšir, ♂ (ŠLxVJ,), čiji su butovi prerađeni na tradicionalan istarski način, uz pretpostavku da će pršuti genotipa (VJxNJL)xD imati veći udio poželjne intramuskularne masti, što će u konačnici imati pozitivan učinak na ukupnu kvalitetu pršuta. Analizama je utvrđeno sljedeće: Veći udio suhe tvari (63,00% vs. 57,86%) i manji udio vode (37,00% vs. 42,14%) utvrđen je u pršutu genotipa (VJxNJL)xD u odnosu na genotip ŠLxVJ (P, The aim of this study was to determine how different genetic backgrounds (particularly effect of Duroc as a terminal carcass breed) affect chemical composition (water content, as well as dry matter, protein, fat, and NaCl content), as well as other properties of Istrian dry-cured ham (pH, acid number, peroxide number) that are significant in sense of its quality. For this purpose 10 pigs (Large White, ♀x German Landrace, ♂) x Duroc ♂ - (LWxGL)xD genotype and 10 pigs Swedish Landrace,♀x Large White, ♂ - (SLxLW,) genotype were slaughtered, and the hams were processed according to the Istrian manner, assuming that the hams of the (LWxGL)xD genotype will have a higher proportion of more desirable intramuscular fat, which will ultimately affect positively the overall quality of the dry-cured ham. The analyses showed the following: more dry matter (63.00% vs. 57.86%) and less water content (37.00% vs. 42.14%) were found in the hams of the (LWxGL)xD genotype related to the hams of the SLxLW genotype (P, Zusammenfassung Das Ziel dieser Arbeit war zu bestimmen, in welchem Maße unterschiedliche genetische Basis (besonders der Einfluss von Durok als Terminalrasse) einen Eifluss auf die chemische Zusammensetzung (Inhalt von Wasser und Trockenmasse, Eiweißstoffe, Fett und NaCl) und auf andere Eigenschaften des rohen geräucherten Schinkens (Istarski pršut) aus Istrien (pH, Säure- und Peroxidnummer) bedeutend für seine Qualität, hat. Zu diesem Zwecke wurden 10 Schweine von Genotyp (großer Yorkshire, ♀ x deutscher Landras, ♂) x Durok, ♂ (GYxDL)xD und 10 Schweine von Genotyp schwedischer Landras, ♀ x großer Yorkshire, ♂ (SchLxGY) geschlachtet, unter der Voraussetzung, dass der Schinken von Genotyp (GYxDL)xD einen größeren Anteil des gewünschten intramuskulären Fettes enthalten wird, was endlich einen positiven Einfluss auf die gesamte Schinkenqualität haben wird. Durch die Analyse wurde folgendes festgestellt: ein größerer Aneil der Trockensubstanz (63,00 % vs. 57,86 %) und ein kleinerer Anteil vom Wasser (37,00 % vs. 42,14 %) wurde beim Schinken des Genotyps (GYxDL)xD in Bezug auf Genotyp SchLxGY (P, Sommario L’obiettivo di questo lavoro era determinare in quale percentuale la diversità genetica (specialmente l’infulenza del durok come la razza terminale) influisce sulla composizione chimica (contenuto dell’acqua e della sostanza secca, delle proteine, grasii e il NaCl) e su altre caratteristiche del prosciutto (valore pH, numero di acidità, numero di perossidi) è importante nel senso della sua qualità. Perciò sono stati macellati 10 maiali del genotipo (grande yorkshire, ♀ x landrace tedesco, ♂) x durok, ♂ (GYxLT)xD e 10 maiali del genotipo landrace svedese, ♀ x grande yorkshire, ♂ (LSxGY), le cui cosce sono state preparate secondo la tradizione istriana, supponendo che i prosciutti del genotipo (GYxLT)xD avranno una percentuale maggiore dei grassi intramuscolari, che alla fin fine avrà un effetto positivo sulla qualità del prosciutto in totale.
