The Yarkovsky effect is one of the noticeable factors in the orbital evolution of near-Earth asteroids (NEAs). The A2 non-gravitational parameter describes the corresponding acceleration in the NEA motion model. This parameter can be derived from astrometric observations of the NEA. We present the results of astrometric observations of two NEAs (2010 XC15 and 2014 HK129). The measurements were performed with the MTM-500M telescope (Mountain Astronomical Station of the Pulkovo Observatory). The modified Gaia star apparent approach technique was applied. As a result, the astrometric accuracy of our observations reached the 0.05 arcsec level. It allowed us to estimate the A2 values of the 2010 XC15 asteroid: –139.5 × 10–15 ± 20.2 × 10–15 au/d2. It is in good agreement with the NASA JPL estimate for this asteroid. The 2014 HK129 A2 parameter formal value extracted from our data is 61.3 × 10–15 ± 1583.4 × 10–15 au/d2. Introduction of this A2 value into the asteroid motion model provides a significant decrease (about 0.05–0.1 arcsec) of the (O–C) values for the first epoch of 2014 HK129 observations. Using the telescopes ZA-320M and MTM-500M of Pulkovo Observatory (Russia), we have carried out astrometric and photometric observations of the asteroid (367943) Duende (2012 DA14) immediately after its close approach to the Earth occurred on 2013 February 15. We have obtained a series of its astrometric positions, colour indices and two fragments of its light curve. By numerically integrating, we have studied the evolution of the asteroid's orbit. Also, the influence of solar radiation pressure and Yarkovsky effect on the asteroid was estimated. The fitting of the asteroid rotation model to the observed light curve indicates that during its closest approach to the Earth, it had tumbling rotation regime. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The infrared properties of blazars can be studied from the statistical point of view with the help of sky surveys, like that provided by the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer and the Two Micron All Sky Survey. However, these sources are known for their strong and unpredictable variability, which can be monitored for a handful of objects only. In this paper, we consider the 28 blazars (14 BL Lac objects and 14 flat-spectrum radio quasars, FSRQs) that are regularly monitored by the GLAST-AGILE Support Program (GASP) of the Whole Earth Blazar Telescope since 2007. They show a variety of infrared colours, redshifts, and infrared–optical spectral energy distributions (SEDs), and thus represent an interesting mini-sample of bright blazars that can be investigated in more detail. We present near-IR light curves and colours obtained by the GASP from 2007 to 2013, and discuss the infrared–optical SEDs. These are analysed with the aim of understanding the interplay among different emission components. BL Lac SEDs are accounted for by synchrotron emission plus an important contribution from the host galaxy in the closest objects, and dust signatures in 3C 66A and Mrk 421. FSRQ SEDs require synchrotron emission with the addition of a quasar-like contribution, which includes radiation from a generally bright accretion disc (νLν up to ∼4 × 1046 erg s−1), broad-line region, and a relatively weak dust torus. Context. The photometry of mutual occultations and eclipses of natural planetary satellites can be used to infer very accurate astrometric data. This can be achieved by processing the light curves of the satellites observed during international campaigns of photometric observations of these mutual events. Aims. This work focuses on processing the complete database of photometric observations of the mutual occultations and eclipses of the Saturnian satellites made during the international campaign in 2009. The final goal is to derive new accurate astrometric data. Methods. We develop an accurate photometric model of mutual event observations of sufficiently high accuracy. Our original method is applied to derive astrometric data from photometric observations of the mutual occultations and eclipses of the Saturnian satellites. Results. We process the 26 light curves obtained during the international campaign of photometric observations of the Saturnian satellites in 2009. Compared with the theory TASS 1.7 by Vienne and Duriez, we find that the root mean square of the “O–C” residuals for the 23 highest quality observations are equal to 48.5 and 21.7 mas in right ascension and declination, respectively, we obtain 16.4 and 20.7 mas with the new theory by Lainey and collaborators and 17.3 and 21.6 mas with JPL SAT351 ephemerides. Topocentric or heliocentric angular differences for satellites pairs are obtained for 16 time instants during the time period from December 19, 2008 to July 16, 2009. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We present new optical and near-infrared (NIR) photometry and spectroscopy of the Type IIP supernova (SN), SN 2004et. In combination with already published data, this provides one of the most complete studies of optical and NIR data for any Type IIP SN from just after explosion to +500 d. The contribution of the NIR flux to the bolometric light curve is estimated to increase from 15 per cent at explosion to around 50 per cent at the end of the plateau and then declines to 40 per cent at 300 d. SN 2004et is one of the most luminous IIP SNe which has been well studied and characterized, and with a luminosity of and a 56Ni mass of 0.06 ± 0.04 M⊙, it is two times brighter than SN 1999em. We provide parametrized bolometric corrections as a function of time since explosion for SN 2004et and three other IIP SNe that have extensive optical and NIR data. These can be used as templates for future events in optical and NIR surveys without full wavelength coverage. We compare the physical parameters of SN 2004et with those of other well-studied IIP SNe and find that the kinetic energies span a range of 1050–1051 erg. We compare the ejected masses calculated from hydrodynamic models with the progenitor masses and limits derived from pre-discovery images. Some of the ejected mass estimates are significantly higher than the progenitor mass estimates, with SN 2004et showing perhaps the most serious mass discrepancy. With the current models, it appears difficult to reconcile 100 d plateau lengths and high expansion velocities with the low ejected masses of 5–6 M⊙ implied from 7–8 M⊙ progenitors. The nebular phase is studied using very late-time Hubble Space Telescope photometry, along with optical and NIR spectroscopy. The light curve shows a clear flattening at 600 d in the optical and the NIR, which is likely due to the ejecta impacting on circumstellar material. We further show that the [O i] 6300, 6364 Å line strengths in the nebular spectra of four Type IIP SNe imply ejected oxygen masses of 0.5–1.5 M⊙. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We present comprehensive photometric and spectroscopic observations of the faint transient SN 2008S discovered in the nearby galaxy NGC 6946. SN 2008S exhibited slow photometric evolution and almost no spectral variability during the first nine months, implying a long photon diffusion time and a high-density circumstellar medium. Its bolometric luminosity is low with respect to most core-collapse supernovae but is comparable to the faintest Type II-P events. Our quasi-bolometric light curve extends to 300 d and shows a tail phase decay rate consistent with that of 56Co. We propose that this is evidence for an explosion and formation of 56Ni . Spectra of SN 2008S show intense emission lines of Hα, [Ca ii] doublet and Ca ii near-infrared (NIR) triplet, all without obvious P-Cygni absorption troughs. The large mid-infrared (MIR) flux detected shortly after explosion can be explained by a light echo from pre-existing dust. The late NIR flux excess is plausibly due to a combination of warm newly formed ejecta dust together with shock-heated dust in the circumstellar environment. We reassess the progenitor object detected previously in Spitzer archive images, supplementing this discussion with a model of the MIR spectral energy distribution. This supports the idea of a dusty, optically thick shell around SN 2008S with an inner radius of nearly 90 au and outer radius of 450 au, and an inferred heating source of 3000 K. The luminosity of the central star is . All the nearby progenitor dust was likely evaporated in the explosion leaving only the much older dust lying further out in the circumstellar environment. The combination of our long-term multiwavelength monitoring data and the evidence from the progenitor analysis leads us to support the scenario of a weak electron-capture supernova explosion in a super-asymptotic giant branch progenitor star (of initial mass ) embedded within a thick circumstellar gaseous envelope. We present infrared JHK time series photometry of the variable star RR Lyr, that allows us to construct the first complete and accurate infrared light curves for this star. The derived mean magnitudes are and . The magnitude is used to estimate the reddening, the mass, the mean luminosity and the temperature of this variable star. The use of these RR Lyr data provides a more accurate absolute calibration of the P–L K–[Fe/H] relation, and a distance modulus to the globular cluster Reticulum in the Large Magellanic Cloud. At Pulkovo Observatory, we conduct observations of various Solar System bodies: major planets, their satellites, comets, and asteroids, including Near Earth Objects. For these purposes, a robotic telescope was constructed on the base of the ZA–320 Mirror Astrograph (D=320 mm, F=3200 mm). It can perform CCD observations of Solar System bodies with the limiting magnitude of up to 19.0.Independent ephemeris support is provided by the EPOS software package developed at Pulkovo Observatory; it includes tracing of catalogues of comets and asteroids, regular ephemeris calculations, and control of observations. CCD frame processing is done by the Apex automatic data reduction package developed at Pulkovo Observatory.In 2001-2006, more than 12000 observations of minor Solar System bodies were collected, including more than 6000 positions of 656 NEAs, about 1200 observations of 27 comets, and about 2000 observations of major planets satellites. The mean accuracy of obtained positions is 0″.09−0″.40. Results of observations are regularly submitted to the Minor Planet Center.Currently, ZA–320M is the 16-th of more than 680 telescopes in the worldwide rating of those that observe NEAs (by the number of observations).In the near future, our group is planning to start observations with another two robotic telescopes: MTM–500 (D=500 mm, F=4000 mm Maksutov) and 1-meter telescope (D=1000 mm, F=1200 mm) of the Pulkovo mountain station at Northern Caucasus (Kislovodsk, 2100 m above sea level). In connection with long on-orbit European space satellite Gaia and the opportunity that now provides ESA, to use the results of observations of the space telescope, we would like to present some results of our long-term observations of the major planets satellites at Pulkovo Observatory. We hope to translate into reality these opportunities, namely the use of new observations and new ephemeris and a practical possibility of a new reduction for modern and old observations. More than 20000 observations of Near Earth asteroids and comets are collected and reduced in Pulkovo Observatory during last 10 years. For observations of these objects two robotic telescopes are used – ZA-320M (Cassegrain system, D = 320 mm, F = 3200 mm) at Pulkovo and MTM-500M (Maksutov – Cassegrain system, D = 500 mm, F = 4100 mm) at Kislovodsk mountain station. These telescopes perform CCD observations of objects up to 18.0 and 20.5 magnitude, correspondingly. The results of observations are regularly submitted to Minor Planet Center.
