2. Hoverflies in organic apple orchards in north-western Italy

Abstract

A list is given of hoverflies collected by means of Malaise and white sticky traps in two organic apple orchards in north-western Italy. The total number of collected species was 17 and it was compared with literature, in order to discuss differences due to sampling methods. The predominant species collected were Sphaerophoria scripta (L.) (73% of the total sample) and Eupeodes corollae (F.) (14%). The trend of adult captures of this species is drawn and discussed. Data on wild plant species in the orchards are also given.

Abstract

Il monitoraggio effettuato nel biennio 2002-2003 ha permesso di accertare la presenza della malattia in due areali della provincia di Torino. L’indagine del 2003 ha riguardato i comuni situati tra Pinerolese e Val Pellice ed ha evidenziato la presenza di sintomi riferibili ad AP in tutti i comuni censiti. I campionamenti sul vettore Cacopsylla melanoneura (Förster), eseguiti su un meleto campione, hanno permesso di approfondire le conoscenze sul ciclo dell’insetto e sulla sua presenza in meleto.

Abstract

A comparison between two samples of patients with condylar fractures is reported: the first treated non-surgically and the second with open reduction and rigid internal fixation. The functional results for both groups were similar. However, open reduction gave better occlusal results, anatomic restoration and faster recovery rates than non-surgical techniques.
