Breast cancer remains a significant global health concern, necessitating the development of novel therapeutic approaches. In this study, we investigate the role of Eu3+ doped hydroxyapatite nanocomposites (Han: Eu3+) in the treatment of MCF7 and 4T1 breast cancer cell lines. Furthermore, we explored the structural and luminescent properties of these nanocomposites. Han: Eu3+ were synthesized using a modified co-precipitation method, and their morphology and crystal structure were characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) in which the average crystalline size of Han: Eu3+ was found to be 25 nm, rendering them suitable for cellular uptake and targeted therapy. To gain insights into the luminescent properties of Han: Eu3+, their excitation and emission spectra were recorded using photoluminescence spectrometer. The characteristic red emission of Eu3+ ions was observed upon excitation, validating the successful doping of Eu3+ into the Han lattice, which was confirmed by the CIE chromaticity coordinate study. These luminescent properties of Han: Eu3+ hold promise for potential applications in bioimaging. To evaluate the efficacy of Han: Eu3+ in breast cancer treatment, MCF7 and 4T1 cell lines were exposed to varying concentrations of the nanocomposites. Cell viability assays revealed a concentration-dependent reduction in cell viability, indicating the potential anticancer activity of Han: Eu3+. The findings of this study contribute to the expanding field of nanomedicine, bringing targeted breast cancer treatments and us closer to more effective.

MnO x -based materials have limited capacity and poor conductivity over various voltages, hampering their potential for energy storage applications. This work proposes a novel approach to address these challenges. A self-oriented multiple-electronic structure of a 1D-MnO 2 -nanorod/2D-Mn 2 O 3 -nanosphere composite was assembled on 2D-graphene oxide nanosheet/1D-carbon nanofiber (GO/CNF) hybrids. Aided by K + ions, the MnO 2 nanorods were partially converted to Mn 2 O 3 nanospheres, while the GO nanosheets were combined with CNF through hydrogen bonds resulting in a unique double binary 1D-2D mixed morphology of MnO 2 /Mn 2 O 3 -GO/CNF hybrid, having a novel mechanism of multiple Mn ion redox reactions facilitated by the interconnected 3D network. The morphology of the MnO 2 nanorods was controlled by regulating the potassium ion content through a rinsing strategy. Interestingly, pure MnO 2 nanorods undergo air-annealing to form a mixture of nanorods and nanospheres (MnO 2 /Mn 2 O 3 ) with a distinct morphology indicating pseudocapacitive surface redox reactions involving Mn 2+ , Mn 3+ , and Mn 4+ . In the presence of the GO/CNF framework, the charge storage properties of the MnO 2 /Mn 2 O 3 -GO/CNF composite electrode show dominant battery-type behavior because of the unique mesoporous structure with a crumpled morphology that provides relatively large voids and cavities with smaller diffusion paths to facilitate the accumulation/intercalation of charges at the inner electroactive sites for the diffusion-controlled process. The corresponding specific capacity of 800 C g -1 or 222.2 mAh g -1 at 1 A g -1 and remarkable cycling stability (95%) over 5000 cycles at 3 A g -1 were considerably higher than those of the reported electrodes of similar materials. Moreover, a hybrid supercapacitor device is assembled using MnO 2 /Mn 2 O 3 -GO/CNF as the positive electrode and activated carbon as the negative electrode, which exhibits a superior maximum energy density (∼25 Wh kg -1 ) and maximum power density (∼4.0 kW kg -1 ). Therefore, the as-synthesized composite highlights the development of highly active low-cost materials for next-generation energy storage applications.

Herein, we describe a high-performance electrochemical sensor for the detection of regorafenib (REG) using bimetallic Pd-Ru nanoparticles anchored on pomegranate peel extract (PPE) derived reduced graphene oxide (Pd-Ru/rGO). PPE was employed to neutralize the extremely acidic graphene then cast-off along with the metal precursor for the duration of the chemical reduction to accomplish well dispersed Pd-Ru nanoparticles. Bimetallic Pd-Ru/rGO nanocomposites were synthesized using a facile chemical reduction method. Under optimal conditions, based on the differential pulse voltammetric studies it has been confirmed that the fabricated sensors has good electrocatalytic activity toward the detection of REG, spanning over the linear dynamic range of 0.5-300 nM. Moreover, the sensor exhibited a low limit of detection of 1.6 nM and a limit of quantification of 4.8 nM. The electrochemical sensor unveiled admirable selectivity and sensitivity, reproducibility, and repeatability. The fabricated sensor was suitable for real sample analysis (pharmaceutical tablet, human blood plasm, wastewater) with satisfactory recovery. The demand for eco-friendly renewable energy resources as energy storage and management devices is increased due to their high-power density and fast charge/discharge capacity. Recently, supercapacitors have fascinated due to their fast charge-discharge capability and high-power density along with safety. Herein, the authors present the synthesis of 3D-hierarchical peony-like ZnCo 2 O 4 structures with 2D-nanoflakes by a hydrothermal method using polyvinylpyrrolidone. The reaction time was modified to obtain two samples (ZCO-6h and ZCO-12h) and the rest of the synthesis conditions were the same. The synthesized structures were systematically studied through various techniques: their crystalline characteristics were studied through XRD analysis, their morphologies were inspected through SEM and TEM, and the elemental distribution and oxidation states were studied by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). ZCO-12h sample has a larger surface area (55.40 m 2 ·g -1 ) and pore size (24.69 nm) than ZCO-6h, enabling high-speed transport of ions and electrons. The ZCO-12h electrode showed a high-specific capacitance of 421.05 F·g -1 (31.52 C·g -1 ) at 1 A·g -1 and excellent cycle performance as measured by electrochemical analysis. Moreover, the morphologic characteristics of the prepared hierarchical materials contributed significantly to the improvement of specific capacitance. The excellent capacitive outcomes recommend the 3D-ZnCo 2 O 4 hierarchical peony-like structures composed of 2D-nanoflakes as promising materials for supercapacitors with high-performance.
