With a view to developing multimetallic molecular catalysts that mimic the oxygen‐evolving catalyst (OEC) in Nature's photosystem II, the synthesis of various dicubanoid manganese clusters is described and their catalytic activity investigated for water oxidation in basic, aqueous solution. Pyridinemethanol‐based ligands are known to support polynuclear and cubanoid structures in manganese coordination chemistry. The chelators 2,6‐pyridinedimethanol (H2L1) and 6‐methyl‐2‐pyridinemethanol (HL2) were chosen to yield polynuclear manganese complexes; namely, the tetranuclear defective dicubanes [MnII 2MnIII 2(HL1)4(OAc)4(OMe)2] and [MnII 2MnIII 2(HL1)6(OAc)2] (OAc)2⋅2 H2O, as well as the octanuclear‐dicubanoid [MnII 6MnIII 2(L2)4(O)2(OAc)10(HOMe/OH2)2]⋅3MeOH⋅MeCN. In freshly prepared solutions, polynuclear species were detected by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry, whereas X‐band electron paramagnetic resonance studies in dilute, liquid solution suggested the presence of divalent mononuclear Mn species with g values of 2. However, the magnetochemical investigation of the complexes’ solutions by the Evans technique confirmed a haphazard combination of manganese coordination complexes, from mononuclear to polynuclear species. Subsequently, the newly synthesized and characterized manganese molecular complexes were employed as precursors to prepare electrode‐deposited films in a buffer‐free solution to evaluate and compare their stability and catalytic activity for water oxidation electrocatalysis., Film star: Cubanoid tetranuclear and octanuclear manganese complexes are synthesized and electrodeposited on an active surface to compare their electrocatalytic activity for the water oxidation reaction. A simple, direct relationship is derived between the manganese content in the precursor and the oxygen evolution activity of the deposited films.

We report a series of uranium complexes stabilized by the pentakis-benzyl-derivatized cyclopentadienyl ligand, CpBn5. Treatment of [UCl4] and [UI3(1,4-dioxane)1,5] with 2 equiv of the potassium salt, CpBn5K, yielded the corresponding complexes [(CpBn5)2UIV(Cl)2] (1) and [(CpBn5)2UIII(I)] (4). Subsequently, tetravalent 1 is either methylated to give [(CpBn5)2UIV(Me)2] (2) or reduced to form trivalent [(CpBn5)2UIII(μ-Cl)2K(OEt2)3] (3). Oxidation of 4 with AgI yields [(CpBn5)2UIV(I)2] (5), which was found to generate rarely observed, linear uranium metallocenes [(CpBn5)2UIV(NCMe)5][X]2 (X = PF6– (6), BPh4– (7)) upon abstraction of the iodide ligands with thallium salts in acetonitrile. All complexes were characterized by 1H NMR spectroscopy, CHN elemental analysis, UV–vis–NIR spectroscopy, and SQUID magnetization measurements. The solid-state molecular structures of 1–7 were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. An in-depth computational analysis revealed the peculiar electronic structure of the linearly coordinated title complex 7 and its closely related, parent [(Cp*)2UIV(NCMe3)5]2+ dication.

The reaction of the cobalt(I) complex [(TIMMNmes)CoI](BPh4) (2) (TIMMNmes=tris‐[2‐(3‐mesitylimidazolin‐2‐ylidene)methyl]amine) with 1‐adamantylazide yields the cobalt(III) imido complex [(TIMMNmes)CoIII(NAd)](BPh4) (3) with concomitant release of dinitrogen. The N‐anchor in diamagnetic 3 features an unusual, planar tertiary amine, which results from repulsive electrostatic interaction with the filled d(z2)‐orbital of the cobalt ion and negative hyperconjugation with the neighboring methylene groups. One‐electron oxidation of 3 with [FeCp2](OTf) provides access to the rare, high‐valent cobalt(IV) imido complex [(TIMMNmes)CoIV(NAd)](OTf)2 (4). Despite a half‐life of less than 1 h at room temperature, 4 could be isolated at low temperatures in analytically pure form. Single‐crystal X‐ray diffractometry and EPR spectroscopy corroborate the molecular structure and the d5 low‐spin, S=1/2 , electron configuration. A computational analysis of 4 suggests high covalency within the CoIV=NAd bond with non‐negligible spin density located at the imido moiety, which translates into substantial triplet nitrene character., Straightforward access to a cobalt(IV) terminal imido complex was provided by one‐electron oxidation of a cobalt(III) terminal imido precursor. The cobalt(IV) monoimido complex could be isolated at low temperatures in analytically pure form. Single‐crystal X‐ray diffractometry and EPR spectroscopy corroborate the molecular structure and the d5 low‐spin, S=1/2 , electron configuration.

Lithium trimethylsilyldiazomethanide and a cobalt (II) precursor with an N‐anchored tris‐NHC (TIMENmes) ligand provide access to the cobalt nitrilimide 1. Complex 1 was structurally characterized by single‐crystal X‐ray diffractometry (SC‐XRD) and its electronic structure was examined in detail, including EPR spectroscopy, SQUID magnetometry and computational analyses. The desilylation of the C‐(trimethylsilyl)nitrilimide reveals a transient complex with an elusive diazomethanediide ligand, which substitutes one of the mesitylene rings of the ancillary ligand through C−N bond cleavage. This transformation results in the cyclometalated cobalt(II) complex 2, featuring a rare isocyanoamido‐κ‐C ligand., Trimethylsilylium abstraction from a cobalt nitrilimide complex generates a transient cobalt diazomethanediide complex, which forms a terminal isocyanoamido ligand through a radical de‐arylation.

In this manuscript, we report the solvent‐dependent synthesis of 1D coordination polymers derived from two planar N2O2‐coordinate iron(II) complexes FeL1 and FeL2, which incorporate TTF(py)2 as a bridging bis‐monodentate ligand. The obtained 1D polymers were characterized through elemental analysis, Mossbauer spectroscopy, single crystal structure analysis for 2a·2 DMF, magnetic susceptibility measurements, X‐ray powder diffraction, cyclic voltammetry and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, supplemented by DFT computation. The results revealed additive electronic properties of the sub‐units FeL and TTF(py)2 with only minor mutual influence. Intriguingly however, the solvent‐of‐synthesis is found to be a steering factor of the magnetic spin crossover properties of the resulting materials, yielding divergent behavior if obtained from DMF, MeCN or EtOH. This becomes strikingly evident for the magnetic properties of the DMF‐derived polymer which is found trapped in the low‐spin state in the single crystal 2a· 2 DMF, but shows a gradual spin crossover if all solvent is removed.

International audience; Reaction of the trivalent uranium complex [(((ArO)-Ar-Ad,Me)(3)N)U(DME)] with one molar equiv [Na(OCAs)(dioxane)(3)], in the presence of 2.2.2-crypt, yields [Na(2.2.2-crypt)][{(((ArO)-Ar-Ad,Me)(3)N)U-IV(THF)}(-O){(((ArO)-Ar-Ad,Me)(3)N)U-IV(CAs)}] (1), the first example of a coordinated (1)-cyaarside ligand (CAs-). Formation of the terminal CAs- is promoted by the highly reducing, oxophilic U-III precursor [(((ArO)-Ar-Ad,Me)(3)N)U(DME)] and proceeds through reductive C-O bond cleavage of the bound arsaethynolate anion, OCAs-. If two equiv of OCAs- react with the U-III precursor, the binuclear, -oxo-bridged U-2(IV/IV) complex [Na(2.2.2-crypt)](2)[{(((ArO)-Ar-Ad,Me)(3)N)U-IV}(2)(-O)(-AsCAs)] (2), comprising the hitherto unknown :(1),(1)-coordinated (AsCAs)(2-) ligand, is isolated. The mechanistic pathway to 2 involves the decarbonylation of a dimeric intermediate formed in the reaction of 1 with OCAs-. An alternative pathway to complex 2 is by conversion of 1 via addition of one further equiv of OCAs-.

The coordination and reactivity of simple iodide salts of low-valent f elements [YbI2, SmI2, TmI2, and UI3(THF)4, where THF = tetrahydrofuran] with iminophosphorane (R3P═NR′) ligands are reported. The studied chelates were observed to adapt their geometry and effectively bind divalent ytterbium and samarium centers, as well as the trivalent uranium cation. The reactivity of the ytterbium adducts with benzophenone was found to be dependent on the steric demand of the supporting iminophosphorane ligand. In particular, a rare example of a stable charge-separated ketyl radical species is reported with ytterbium. Additionally, divalent thulium was observed to induce a reductive coupling at the ligand’s central pyridine ring.

A series of silver tris(perfluoroethyl)trifluorophosphate (Ag[FAP]) complexes with various ligands (acetonitrile ACN, chloroacetonitrile Cl-ACN, acrylonitrile acryl-CN, pyridine py, ethylenediamine en and propene C3H6) have been synthesized starting from Ag[NO3] and K[FAP] using three different routes. Physicochemical properties as well as crystal structures ([Ag(ACN)2/4][FAP], [Ag(py)2][FAP]) were determined and the suitability of such Ag salts for propene/propane separation processes was investigated. The investigated silver complexes exhibit either low melting points or form liquid complexes when contacted with gaseous propene at 30 °C. This makes them promising separation materials for both liquid membranes and absorber fluids due to their high silver content and significant propene capacity. Single (iGSC) and mixed (NMR) gas solubilities as well as diffusion coefficients (PFG-NMR) of propene and propane were determined to predict the theoretical selectivity of solubility, membrane selectivity, capacity and transport properties of the silver salts according to the solution diffusion model. A strong influence of the number and type of ligands on chemical complexation, physicochemical properties and separation performance has been observed.

Iron(II) complexes of the type [Fe(L)(NCS)2] with tetradentate ligands L are well known to show spin crossover properties. However, this behavior is quite sensitive in regard to small changes of the ligand system. Starting from the thoroughly investigated complex [Fe(tmpa)(NCS)2] [tmpa = tris(2-pyridylmethyl)amine, also abbreviated as tpa in the literature] we modified the ligand by increasing systematically the chelate ring sizes from 5 to 6 thus obtaining complexes [Fe(pmea)(NCS)2], [Fe(pmap)(NCS)2], and [Fe(tepa)(NCS)2] [pmea = N,N-bis[(2-pyridyl)methyl]-2-(2-pyridyl)ethylamine, pmap = N,N-bis[2-(2-pyridyl)ethyl]-(2-pyridyl)methylamine, and tepa = tris[2-(2-pyridyl)ethyl]amine]. All complexes were structurally characterized and spin crossover properties were investigated using Möβbauer spectroscopy, magnetic measurements, and IR/Raman analyses. The results demonstrated that only the iron complexes with tmpa and pmea showed spin crossover properties, whereas the complexes with the ligands pmap and tepa only formed high spin complexes. Furthermore, DFT calculations supported these findings demonstrating again the strong influence of ligand environment. Herein the effect of increasing the chelate ring sizes in iron(II) isothiocyanato complexes with tetradentate tripyridyl-alkylamine ligands is clearly demonstrated.

We report the synthesis and characterization of terminal uranium(iv) hydrosulfido and sulfido complexes, supported by the hexadentate, tacn-based ligand (Ad,MeArO)3tacn3–., Herein, we report the synthesis and characterization of a series of terminal uranium(iv) hydrosulfido and sulfido complexes, supported by the hexadentate, tacn-based ligand framework (Ad,MeArO)3tacn3– (= trianion of 1,4,7-tris(3-(1-adamantyl)-5-methyl-2-hydroxybenzyl)-1,4,7-triazacyclononane). The hydrosulfido complex [((Ad,MeArO)3tacn)U–SH] (2) is obtained from the reaction of H2S with the uranium(iii) starting material [((Ad,MeArO)3tacn)U] (1) in THF. Subsequent deprotonation with potassium bis(trimethylsilyl)amide yields the mononuclear uranium(iv) sulfido species in good yields. With the aid of dibenzo-18-crown-6 and 2.2.2-cryptand, it was possible to isolate a terminal sulfido species, capped by the potassium counter ion, and a “free” terminal sulfido species with a well separated cation/anion pair. Spectroscopic and computational analyses provided insights into the nature of the uranium–sulfur bond in these complexes.

The reductive disproportionation of nitric oxide (1 atm) is mediated by the bulky U(III) aryloxide [U(III)(OAr(Ad,Ad,Me))3] ((Ad,Ad,Me)ArO = O-C6H2-2,6-Ad-4-Me) (1) to form the U(V) terminal oxo species [((Ad,Ad,Me)ArO)3U(V)(O)] (2) and N2O, as confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction and GC-MS measurements. The reaction is quantitative in the solid state. Mechanistic and theoretical studies of the reaction suggest that the N-N bond is formed by the coupling of an η(1)-O bound nitric oxide ligand with gaseous NO to give an η(1)-(N2O2)(1-) intermediate prior to the spontaneous extrusion of N2O to yield the U(V) terminal oxo species 2.

The synthesis and characterization of uranium(VI) mono(imido) complexes, by the oxidation of corresponding uranium(V) species, are presented. These experimental results, paired with DFT analyses, allow for the comparison of the electronic structure of uranium(VI) mono(oxo) and mono(imido) ligands within a conserved ligand framework and demonstrate that the magnitude of the ground state stabilization derived from the inverse trans-influence (ITI) is governed by the relative charge localization on the multiply bonded atom or group.

Multigram quantities of the optically pure amino–bis-sulfoxide ligand (S,S)-bis(4-tert-butyl-2-(p-tolylsulfinyl)phenyl)amine ((S,S)-3) are accessible by in situ lithiation of bis(2-bromo-4-tert-butylphenyl)amine (1) followed by a nucleophilic displacement reaction with Andersen’s sulfinate 2. Deprotonation of (S,S)-3 with MgPh2 yields the magnesium amido–bis-sulfoxide salt (S,S)-4 quantitatively. Metathetical exchange of (S,S)-4 with [RhCl(COE)2]2 affords the optically pure pseudo-C2-symmetric Rh(I)–amido bis-sulfoxide pincer complex mer-(R,R)-[Rh(bis(4-(tert-butyl)-2-(p-tolylsulfinyl)phenyl)amide)(COE)] (mer-(R,R)-5). This complex reacts with 3 equiv of HCl to give the facial Rh(III) complex fac-(S,R,R)-[Rh(bis(4-(tert-butyl)-2-(p-tolylsulfinyl)phenyl)amine)Cl3] (fac-(S,R,R)-6), in which one of the sulfoxide functions has been reduced to the sulfide and in which the resulting sulfoxide–sulfide–amine ligand is facially coordinated. International audience; Low-temperature photolysis experiments (T = 10 K) on the tripodal azido complex [(BIMPNMes,Ad,Me)CoII(N3)] (1) were monitored by EPR spectroscopy and support the formation of an exceedingly reactive, high-valent Co nitrido species [(BIMPNMes,Ad,Me)CoIV(N)] (2). Density functional theory calculations suggest a low-spin d5, S = 1/2, electronic configuration of the central cobalt ion in 2 and, thus, are in line with the formulation of complex 2 as a genuine, low-spin Co(IV) nitride species. Although the reactivity of this species precludes handling above 50 K or isolation in the solid state, the N-migratory insertion product [(NH-BIMPNMes,Ad,Me)CoII](BPh4) (3) is isolable and was reproducibly synthesized as well as fully characterized, including CHN elemental analysis, paramagnetic 1H NMR, IR, UV–vis, and EPR spectroscopy as well as SQUID magnetization and single-crystal X-ray crystallography studies. A computational analysis of the reaction pathway 2 → 3 indicates that the reaction readily occurs via N-migratory insertion into the Co–C bond (activation barrier of 2.2 kcal mol–1). In addition to the unusual reactivity of the nitride 2, the resulting divalent cobalt complex 3 is a rare example of a trigonal pyramidal complex with four different donor ligands of a tetradentate chelate—an N-heterocyclic carbene, a phenolate, an imine, and an amine—binding to a high-spin Co(II) ion. This renders complex 3 chiral-at-metal.

In the title compound, alternatively called α-hydroxy-γ-alkylidenebutenolide, C12H16O3, two independent molecules (AandB) crystallize in the asymmetric unit in each of which the 5,6-dihydrobenzo ring has an envelope conformation. The torsion angle along the butadiene chain in the γ-alkylidenebutenolide core is −177.9 (2)° for moleculeAand 179.9 (2)° for moleculeB. In the crystal, O—H...O hydrogen bonds between hydroxyl and carbonyl groups of adjacent independent molecules form dimers withR22(10) loops.

The photooxidation of triaryldihydro[C59N]fullerenes was achieved by treatment with air and light leading to a new selective core functionalization of azafullerenes, which serves as a model case for oxygenation of carbon allotropes.

The synthesis and structural characterization of new coordination polymers with the N,N-donor ligand trans-1,2-bis(N-methylimidazol-2-yl)ethylene (trans-bie) are reported. It was found that the acetate-bridged paddlewheel metal(II) complexes [M2(O2CCH3)4(trans-bie)]n with M = Rh, Ru, Mo, and Cr are linked by the trans-bie ligand to give a one-dimensional alternating chain. The metal–metal multiple bonds were analyzed with density functional theory and CASSCF/CASPT2 calculations (bond orders: Rh, 0.8; Ru, 1.7; Mo, 3.3).

Oxidation of our previously reported uranium(V) oxo complexes, supported by the chelating ((R)ArO)(3)tacn(3-) ligand system (R = tert-butyl (t-Bu), 1-t-Bu; R = 1-adamantyl (Ad), 1-Ad), yields terminal uranium(VI) oxo complexes [(((R)ArO)(3)tacn)U(VI)(O)]SbF(6) (R = t-Bu, 2-t-Bu; R = Ad, 2-Ad). These complexes differ in their molecular geometry in that 2-t-Bu possesses pseudo-C(s) symmetry in solution and solid state as the terminal oxo ligand lies in the equatorial plane (as defined by the three aryloxide arms of the ligand) in order to accommodate the thermodynamic preference of high-valent uranium oxo complexes to have a σ- and π-donating ligand trans to the oxo (vis-à-vis the ubiquity of the linear UO(2)(2+) moiety). The distortion of the ligand--which stands in contrast to all other complexes of uranium supported by the ((R)ArO)(3)tacn(3-) ligand, including 2-Ad--is most clearly seen in the structures of 2-t-Bu, [(((t-Bu)ArO)(3)tacn)U(VI)(O)(eq)]SbF(6), and 3-t-Bu, [(((t-Bu)ArO)(3)tacn)U(VI)(O)(eq)(OC(O)CF(3))(ax)]. The solid-state structure of 3-t-Bu reveals that the trans U-O(ArO) bond length is shortened by 0.1 Å in comparison to the cis U-O(ArO) bonds and the trans U-O-C(ipso) angle is linearized (157.67° versus 147.85° and 130.03°). Remarkably, the minor modification of the ligand to have Ad groups at the ortho positions of the aryloxide arms is sufficient to stabilize a C(3v)-symmetric terminal uranium(VI) oxo complex (2-Ad) without a ligand trans to the oxo. These experimental results were reproduced in DFT calculations and allow the qualitative bracketing of the relative thermodynamic stabilization afforded by the inverse trans-influence as ∼6 kcal mol(-1).

Coupling reactions of nitrogen atoms represent elementary steps to many important heterogeneously catalysed reactions, such as the Haber-Bosch process or the selective catalytic reduction of NO(x) to give N(2). For molecular nitrido (and related oxo) complexes, it is well established that the intrinsic reactivity, for example nucleophilicity or electrophilicity of the nitrido (or oxo) ligand, can be attributed to M-N (M-O) ground-state bonding. In recent years, nitrogen (oxygen)-centred radical reactivity was ascribed to the possible redox non-innocence of nitrido (oxo) ligands. However, unequivocal spectroscopic characterization of such transient nitridyl {M=N(•)} (or oxyl {M-O(•)}) complexes remained elusive. Here we describe the synthesis and characterization of the novel, closed-shell and open-shell square-planar iridium nitrido complexes [IrN(L(t-Bu))](+) and [IrN(L(t-Bu))] (L(t-Bu)=N(CHCHP-t-Bu(2))(2)). Spectroscopic characterization and quantum chemical calculations for [IrN(L(t-Bu))] indicate a considerable nitridyl, {Ir=N(•)}, radical character. The clean formation of Ir(I)-N(2) complexes via binuclear coupling is rationalized in terms of nitrido redox non-innocence in [IrN(L(t-Bu))].

The air stable complex [(PNP)FeCl(2)] (1) (PNP = N[2-P(CHMe(2))(2)-4-methylphenyl](2)(-)), prepared from one-electron oxidation of [(PNP)FeCl] with ClCPh(3), displays an unexpected S = 3/2 to S = 5/2 transition above 80 K as inferred by the dc SQUID magnetic susceptibility measurement. The ac SQUID magnetization data, at zero field and between frequencies 10 and 1042 Hz, clearly reveal complex 1 to have frequency dependence on the out-of-phase signal and thus being a single molecular magnet with a thermally activated barrier of U(eff) = 32-36 cm(-1) (47-52 K). Variable-temperature Mössbauer data also corroborate a significant temperature dependence in δ and ΔE(Q) values for 1, which is in agreement with the system undergoing a change in spin state. Likewise, variable-temperature X-band EPR spectra of 1 reveals the S = 3/2 to be likely the ground state with the S = 5/2 being close in energy. Multiedge XAS absorption spectra suggest the electronic structure of 1 to be highly covalent with an effective iron oxidation state that is more reduced than the typical ferric complexes due to the significant interaction of the phosphine groups in PNP and Cl ligands with iron. A variable-temperature single crystal X-ray diffraction study of 1 collected between 30 and 300 K also reveals elongation of the Fe-P bond lengths and increment in the Cl-Fe-Cl angle as the S = 5/2 state is populated. Theoretical studies show overall similar orbital pictures except for the d(z(2)) orbital, which has the most sensitivity to change in the geometry and bonding, where the quartet ((4)B) and the sextet ((6)A) states are close in energy.

To elucidate the applicability and properties of ionic liquids (ILs) to serve as chemical reaction media for the activation of small molecules by transition-metal complexes, detailed kinetic and mechanistic studies were performed on the reversible binding of NO to FeCl 2 dissolved in the IL 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium dicyanamide ([emim][dca]) as a solvent. We report, for the fi rst time, the application of laser fl ash photolysis at ambient and high pressure to study the kinetics of this reaction in an IL. The kinetic data and activation parameters for the “ on ” and “ off ” reactions suggest that both processes follow a limiting dissociative (D) ligand substitution mechanism, in contrast to that reported for the same reaction in aqueous solution, where this well-known “ brown-ring ” reaction follows an interchange dissociative (I d ) ligand substitution mechanism. The observed di ff erence apparently arises from the participation of the IL anion as a N-donor ligand, as evidenced by the formation of polymeric [Fe(dca) 3 Cl] x [emim] 2 x chains in the solid state and veri fi ed by X-ray crystallography. In addition, infrared (IR), M € ossbauer, and EPR spectra were recorded for the monomeric reaction product [Fe(dca) 5 NO] 3 formed in the IL, and the parameters closely resemble those ofthe { FeNO } 7 unit inother well-characterized nitrosylcomplexes. Itisconcluded thatits electronic structureisbest described by the presence of a high-spin Fe(III) ( S = 5/2) center antiferromagnetically coupled to NO ( S = 1), yielding the observed spin quartet ground state ( S t = 3/2).

Tungsten - tungsten carbide thin films are deposited by metal-organic (MO)CVD on silica-coated silicon wafers using [cis-(1,3-butadiene)2W(CO)2] and [cis-(1,3-cyclohexadiene)2W(CO)2], respectively, as tunable precursor complexes. The compounds are prepared through photochemical ligand exchange reactions from [W(CO)6] and fully characterized, including X-ray structure determination and detailed differential thermal analysis (DTA)/thermogravimetry (TG) investigations. Gas-phase diffusion coefficients and the vapor pressure of the compounds are calculated. The MOCVD experiments are performed in a vertical cold-wall reactor and the exhaust gas is analyzed by gas chromatography (GC). X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) measurements are utilized for film characterization. Consequences of the high oxophilicity of freshly formed tungsten surfaces, consecutive surface reactions of the complex ligands, film growth, and film properties are discussed. Inside the layers, tungsten carbide is identified as the main component.

Molecules of the title compound, C17H18N2O3, are linked by paired C-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen-bonding interactions into R-2(2)(8) dimers. The molecule is not planar. The dihedral angle between the two benzene rings is 64.17 (7)degrees. The molecular conformation is stabilized by intramolecular O-H center dot center dot center dot N, N-H center dot center dot center dot N and N-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonds.

In the nonplanar title compound, C18H14O4, the dihedral angle between the isochromene and benzene ring systems is 83.32(6)degrees. The crystal structure is stabilized by intra- and intermolecular C-H center dot center dot center dot O interactions, the latter resulting in centrosymmetric dimers.

The reaction of four equivalents of phenyl or tert-butyl isocyanate with the pyridine-derived tetraamine 2,6-C3H3N[CMe(CH2NH2)2]2 in toluene gives high yields of the quadruply ureido substituted products 2,6-C5H3N[CMe(CH2R)2]2 [R = -NH(CO)NHPh and -NH(CO)NHtBu]. Full spectroscopic data for both compounds are given. A single crystal X-ray structure determination of the phenyl derivative reveals an intricate network of both intra- and intermolecular hydrogen bonds involving the C=O and both NH functionalities in all ureido groups.

The orthorhombic polymorph of the title compound, C14H16N2O2, is devoid of crystallographically imposed molecular symmetry. The crystal structure is stabilized by N - (HO)-O-... hydrogen-bonding interactions.

The title compound, C14H16N4O2S2 center dot H2O, is a member of a new series of imidazo[ 2,1-b] thiazoles. The crystal packing is stabilized by intermolecular hydrogen bonds.

In the title molecule, C15H12ClN3S the dihedral angles made by the substituted phenyl and benzyl rings with the triazole ring are 81.39 (10) and 63.59 (10)degrees, respectively. The crystal structure is stabilized by N-H...S, C-H...Cl and C-H...pi interactions.

The title compound, C18H18N2O, has a non-planar conformation. The indol and butylphenyl groups are connected by a C-N bond [1.433 (3) Angstrom]. The crystal structure is stabilized by intermolecular N-H...N and C-H...O interactions.

The title compound, C19H15NO3, is non-planar with a dihedral angle between the benzonorbornadiene benzene ring and the benzoyl aromatic ring of 28.7 (1)degrees. In the crystal structure, there are three intermolecular C-H...O bonds.
