Morphological and phylogenetic analyses were conducted with two white blister rust specimens from Amaranthus palmeri S. Watson collected in Sinaloa, Mexico. Secondary sporangia were similar to those of Wilsoniana bliti (Biv.) Thines and Wilsoniana amaranthi Y.J. Choi, Thines & H.D. Shin. The coarsely reticulate epispore of the oospores corresponded to W. amaranthi, although they were smaller than those reported in the same species on Amaranthus dubius Mart, ex Tell. The diameter of the oospores was similar to that in W. bliti from Amaranthus blitum L., whereas the pattern of ornamentation did not correspond to this species. The phylogenetic analysis confirms that both specimens belong to Wilsoniana but do not correspond to any accepted species within the genus, and they have therefore been designated as Wilsoniana sp. Future research should focus on the description and taxonomic position of species in the genus Wilsoniana. Watson récoltés à Sinaloa, Mexique. Les sporanges secondaires étaient similaires à ceux de Wïlsoniana bliti (Biv.) Thines et Wilsoniana amaranthi Y.J. Choi, Thines & H.D. Shin. Les épispores grossièrement réticulées des oospores correspondaient à celles de W. amaranthi, bien qu'elles soient plus petites que celles de la même espèce que l'on rapporte sur Amaranthus dubius Mart. ex Tell. Le diamètre des oospores était similaire à celui de W. bliti sur Amaranthus blitum L., alors que le patron d'ornementation ne correspondait pas à cette espèce. L'analyse phylogénétique confirme que les deux spécimens appartiennent à Wilsoniana, mais ne correspondent à aucune espèce acceptée au sein du genre, et ils ont donc été désignés comme Wïlsoniana sp. Les futures lignes de recherche devraient se concentrer sur la description et la position taxonomique de l'espèces au sein du genre Wïlsoniana. A new record of the powdery mildew Phyllactinia chubutiana, nom. cons. (= Oidium insolitum, Ovulariopsis insolita) was documented on pearl berry [Vallesia glabra (Cav.) Link]. No teleomorph was observed. This novel record was identified as a member of Ovulariopsis, based on the morphological characteristics of the anamorph (hyphae, conidiophores, and conidia), and its hemi-endophytic mycelium in V. glabra correspond to P. chubutiana, nom. cons. A Phyllactinia-specific primer pair was designed for the ITS region of the nuclear rDNA. Phylogenetic analyses confirmed the identity of the powdery mildew specimens found in V. glabra in Sinaloa, Mexico. This is the first ever report of this powdery mildew in V. glabra, and the second report world-wide on a member of the Apocynaceae. Key words: powdery mildew, pearl berry, phylogeny, ITS. Triuris brevistylis Donn. Sm. (Triuridaceae: Pandanales), a mycoheterotrophic monocotyledon with populations in Mexico and Guatemala, is closely related to Lacandonia schismatica E. Martinez et C. H. Ramos, a triurid species displaying a peculiar 'inside-out' arrangement in its reproductive axes. Triuris brevistylis is a polygamodioecious species in which four types of bisexual ramets-genets coexist besides regular (i.e., unisexual) male and female flowers. Here, we characterize the embryology of three of the following different types of reproductive axes in T. brevistylis: male and female flowers and a bisexual floral type in which stamens develop at the base of the receptacle of an otherwise femalelooking flower. Through this embryological characterization, we have detected that cleistogamy, a mechanism previously considered exclusive to L. schismatica, occurs in the bisexual flowers. Besides serving as characters for the systematics of Triuridaceae and Pandanales, our data establish that morphogenetic and reproductive patterns in T. brevistylis are more complex than in L. schismatica. Therefore, we claim that our results contribute to a refined assessment of the controversy regarding morphological interpretation of reproductive axes in triurids. (Triuridaceae : Pandanales), une espece mycoheterotrophe avec des populations au Mexique et au Guatemala, est etroitement reliee au Lacandonia schismatica E. Martinez et C. H. Ramos, une espece de triuride montrant un arrangement particulier 'interne-externe' de ses axes reproductifs. Le T. brevistylis est une espece polygamodio'ique chez laquelle coexistent quatre types de ramettes- genets bisexues, en plus des fleurs males et femelles regulieres. Les auteurs ont caracterise l'embryologie de trois types differents d'axes reproductifs chez le T. brevistylis : fleurs males et femelles, et un type bisexue de fleur dans lequel les etamines se developpement a la base du receptacle d'une autre fleur d'allure femelle. Par cette caracterisation embryologique, les auteurs ont pu s'apercevoir que la cleistogamie, un mecanisme jusqu'ici considere comme exclusif au L. schismatica, survient chez les fleurs bisexuees. En plus de servir comme caracteres pour la systematique des Triuridaceae et des Pandanales, ces donnees etablissent que les patrons morphogenetiques et reproductifs du T. brevistylis sont plus complexes que chez le L. schismatica. Consequemment, les auteurs avancent que leurs resultats contribuent a une evaluation plus precise de la controverse concernant l'interpretation morphologique des axes de reproduction chez les triurides.
