Introducción. Es imprescindible insertar a la familia en los programas de prevención e intervención del acoso. Por otra parte, las últimas investigaciones destacan la relevancia de analizar los factores que influyen en la perpetración del ciberacoso. Sin embargo, la investigación sobre la influencia de las variables sociofamiliares en los ciberagresores es limitada. Junto a ello, consideramos importante tener en cuenta las etapas de desarrollo en la adolescencia, ya que las relaciones familiares con los hijos se van modificando a lo largo de este periodo. El objetivo de este estudio ha sido analizar la influencia del apoyo social familiar, del clima familiar y de las emociones placenteras hacia el ciberacoso en los comportamientos de ciberagresión, incluyendo como variable de análisis la implicación en la cibervictimización, a través de las etapas de desarrollo de la adolescencia. Metodología. La muestra de estudio fue de 1029 adolescentes (26.9% adolescentes tempranos, 49.1% en la adolescencia media y un 24.0% en la adolescencia tardía). Los datos fueron recogidos empleando cuestionarios estandarizados de las variables de estudio. Resultados. Los resultados obtenidos señalan que en todas las etapas de la adolescencia la cibervictimización (temprana: OR= 1.94, IC= 1.15, 3.26; media: OR= 1.61, IC= 1.30, 1.61; tardía: OR= 1.15, IC= 1.02, 1.29) y las emociones placenteras hacia el ciberacoso (temprana: OR= 1.44, IC= 1.03, 2.02; media: OR= 1.40, IC= 1.09, 1.81; tardía OR= 1.44, IC= 1.03, 2.02) incrementan la probabilidad de ser ciberacosador. En la adolescencia temprana la cohesión familiar protege de ser ciberagresor (OR= 0.01, IC= 0.03. 0.16) y en la adolescencia media experimentar conflictos familiares actúan como factor de riesgo de ser ciberacosador (OR= 3.10, IC= 1.71, 5.59). Discusión. Los resultados coinciden con otros estudios que confirman la influencia de la familia como agente social relevante para la intervención en el ciberacoso. Nuestro trabajo aporta como aspecto novedoso la relevancia de esas variables atendiendo al periodo evolutivo de la adolescencia. Muestran el peso de la cohesión en la adolescencia temprana y de los conflictos durante la adolescencia media. Respecto a las emociones placenteras ante el ciberacoso, de forma similar a investigaciones previas, aparecen con significación como factor de riesgo del comportamiento de ciberagresión durante todo el periodo de la adolescencia. Conclusiones. Las conclusiones del trabajo pueden guiar a los profesionales del trabajo social para realizar un acercamiento preventivo del ciberacoso desde las familias. Desde un clima familiar positivo, manteniendo la familia como unidad, con una elevada cohesión durante la adolescencia temprana y una resolución de conflictos positiva en la adolescencia media, los trabajadores sociales pueden actuar en la prevención e intervención del comportamiento de ciberagresión.

Background: Bullying has been shown to have negative consequences on the health and well-being of adolescents. Some students may experience various bullying behaviors and not consider themselves victims, finding themselves in a situation of unperceived mistreatment. Few studies have focused on the relationship between self-reported victimization behaviors and self-identification as a victim. Our objective is to determine the prevalence of unperceived victimization and analyze its relationship with adolescent distress. Methods: A total of 964 adolescents aged between 12 and 19 years participated. Standardized instruments were used to assess psychological distress, bullying in the last month and previous years, perception of victimization, and resilience. Results: More than 20% of adolescents are in a situation of unperceived victimization, not recognizing themselves as victims despite reporting bullying behaviors. Among girls and middle adolescence, perceiving oneself as a victim increases the likelihood of feeling distress. The likelihood of experiencing distress increases with previous victimization and decreases with high resilience. Conclusions: Mental health professionals should consider bullying as a factor of distress in adolescence. It is essential to refer adolescent victims of bullying to specialized mental health resources to adequately address their well-being and increase resilience as a protective factor.

Digital life forms part of daily reality for young people. For this reason, traditional bullying in school has been reproduced in the online environment, resulting in an overlap of off- and online bullying. Research on socio-emotional competencies and bullying is revealing interesting results among students in secondary schools. However, studies involving primary school students are much scarcer. In addition, the majority of studies have been carried out based on an understanding of socio-emotional competencies as a unidimensional construct. In the present study, we examined the overlap between off- and online bullying victimization and the influence of the factors comprising socio-emotional competencies on this overlap. Participants comprised 1130 students (49.7% were boys and 50.3% were girls) from the fifth and sixth grades at 15 schools in the autonomous communities of Madrid and Castilla-La Mancha (Spain). The results indicate a high rate of overlap between off- and online bullying victimization, without significant gender differences. Poor relationship skills in boys and low self-management in girls were associated with being a victim of both traditional bullying and cyberbullying. The conclusions point to an interesting line of intervention and prevention, establishing a framework of confluence for social and emotional variables within the primary education context.

El acoso escolar es un grave problema social y para la salud de los menores, por lo que las escuelas deben implicarse desde el inicio de la escolarización en su prevención e intervención. Los álbumes ofrecen narrativas textuales y visuales que reflejan los comportamientos de acoso. La literatura infantil es un medio adecuado para conocer y reflexionar sobre diferentes problemáticas sociales. El primer paso que debemos realizar es llevar a cabo un análisis de contenido de la obra literaria para conocer cómo refleja la situación y qué variables cognitivas, emocionales y comportamentales aparecen reflejadas en la narrativa. El objetivo de este trabajo es ofrecer un instrumento de recogida de información que pueda servir para llevar a cabo el análisis de contenido de un álbum sobre el acoso. Se presenta el análisis de cinco álbumes de calidad a partir del instrumento propuesto.

Los jóvenes del siglo XXI han crecido en un contexto sociocultural marcado por las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación, en el que se ha producido una transformación en los materiales de lectura y en los modos de leer. El objetivo del estudio que aquí se presenta fue establecer una tipología de lectores basada en el soporte en el que realizan la lectura y analizar el comportamiento lector según la tipología. En el estudio, cuantitativo y transversal, participaron 1697 universitarios del ámbito socioeducativo, nacidos a partir de 1995, de distintas universidades españolas. Se establecieron diferentes tipos de lectores según los soportes de lectura utilizados: impreso, digital y mixto. Los resultados muestran que el lector en soporte impreso se corresponde más con un lector literario clásico, mientras que el lector digital se dirige, fundamentalmente, a una lectura informativa y vinculada con los temas de actualidad. En conclusión, los datos confirman que, aunque la lectura de libros sigue estando asociada fundamentalmente al formato tradicional, existe una transferencia de la lectura en papel a la lectura literaria en soporte digital, lo cual ha generado a su vez un lector más completo y multimodal con amplios intereses lectores.

Background: Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are a common pathway to risky behaviour, violence or re-victimisation, disability, illness, and premature mortality and, as such, may be associated with victimisation and perpetration of dating violence not only in adolescence but also in adulthood. Method: A scoping review was performed in accordance with PRISMA guidelines. Four databases (Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed, and PsycINFO) were used to search for studies published between 2000 and 2021 that analysed the relationship between adverse childhood experiences within the family context and the perpetration or victimisation of dating violence in adulthood. Results: The search yielded 599 articles, 32 of which met the inclusion criteria and were ultimately included in the review. Most of the study samples were from the United States. Most of the studies sampled university populations. The studies had a clear objective, were of an appropriate design, contained a detailed description of the sample, and used valid and reliable measurement instruments. Conclusion: This scoping review shows that the relationship between ACEs and perpetration and/or subsequent victimisation is complex and that, while adverse childhood experiences are a factor associated with adult dating violence, they are likely to coexist with other personal, family, and environmental problems. Therefore, adverse childhood experiences may not be a necessary or sufficient condition for experiencing dating violence.

Previous research shows that classmates supporting victims’ defence is fundamental to combat bullying. To find a suitable response for the bullying problem, we must bear in mind how all the victim’s classmates respond and what variables can determine their helping behaviour. Moral disengagement has been demonstrated to be a factor that explains behaviour when faced with bullying. Emotions have also been shown to be relevant for bullying behaviour. This research aimed to gain knowledge of how adolescents behave when faced with bullying and to analyse how their behaviour relates to moral disengagement and both positive and negative emotions, specifically supportive behaviour for victims. In the present study 1029 students participated, all of whom came from Secondary Education, Training Cycles and Higher Secondary Education Stages in Spain. The regression analysis confirmed that being male increased the likelihood of performing active and passive behaviours. Conversely, being female involved displaying more proactive behaviours. Feeling positive/pleasant emotions about bullying increased active behaviour. Feeling negative/unpleasant emotions about bullying increased behaviour in the proactive behavior group. Adolescents should be aware that stopping bullying is their personal responsibility, which depends on their behaviour with the victim. Interventions must aim to reduce moral disengagement and positive emotions about bullying by increasing negative emotions about such behaviour.

Una de las áreas educativas de mayor preocupación en la actualidad es la compren - sión lectora. La conceptualización del proce - so de comprensión se ha enriquecido en los últimos años incluyendo los aspectos me - tacognitivos como una estrategia esencial para la optimización de su desarrollo. Exis - ten diversos instrumentos para evaluar las estrategias metacognitivas de la compren - sión de textos expositivos escolares, pero no así de textos literarios narrativos. El objetivo de este trabajo ha sido desarrollar un Cues - tionario de Estrategias Metacognitivas de Comprensión de Textos Narrativos (CEMCo - TeN) para que pueda servir de ayuda en la mejora de los procesos de comprensión y en su desarrollo didáctico. El instrumento fue completado por 610 estudiantes de la Univer - sidad de Castilla-La Mancha. Los resultados diferencian tres factores metacognitivos en la comprensión de textos narrativos: Estrate - gias Globales de Lectura, Estrategias de Per - sonalización y Estrategias de Creatividad.

La preocupación ante el potencial de Internet como un espacio donde se puede producir distintas formas de victimización está creciendo entre los investigadores, padres y educadores a tenor de las consecuencias de estas interacciones negativas para el funcionamiento psicológico de los jóvenes. La investigación sobre el cyberbullying trata ahora de conocer las variables de tipo individual y familiar asociadas con este tipo de agresiones online con el objetivo de identificar aspectos claves para su prevención. La investigación previa ha mostrado que la familia cumple un papel importante en la bullying tradicional, al menso en los procesos de afrontamiento. Otros estudios han encontrado que la comunicación parental sobre el uso de Internet es una herramienta efectiva para prevenir un uso compulsivo de Internet, y que las relaciones familiares están relacionadas con la agresión online. A tenor de estos estudios, la presente investigación trata de mejorar nuestro conocimiento de las variables vinculadas con la ciber victimización, principalmente con la mediación parental y la comunicación familiar. Los resultados de los estudios realizados muestran que la mediación y comunicación familia juegan un papel importante en la victimización en Internet.

El acoso escolar ha salido de las aulas a través de las nuevas tecnologías de la información. En la actualidad para hablar de acoso entre iguales debemos referirnos simultáneamente al bullying y al cyberbullying. Las investigaciones señalan una continuidad entre ambos fenómenos, por lo que es importante un tratamiento conjunto. Desde el inicio del estudio de los factores que inciden en el acoso escolar la comunicación familiar ha ocupado un lugar destacado. Diversas investigaciones señalan la relevancia de una comunicación abierta entre padres e hijos como factor protector ante la victimización en el bullying. En el cyberbullying las investigaciones sobre la influencia de la familia son más reducidas, aunque los resultados señalan una dirección similar. Nuestro objetivo es analizar la influencia de la comunicación familiar sobre la victimización en los actuales los procesos de acoso. Atendiendo a la continuidad entre el mundo off y on-line de los adolescentes estudiamos la relación con el bullying y el cyberbullying, considerando también la polivictimización. Se presentan los resultados de una investigación con 1607 estudiantes de Educación Secundaria y Bachillerato de la comunidad de Castilla-La Mancha. Los datos confirman la incidencia de la polivictimización, siendo superior en las chicas. Los resultados señalan la importancia de mejorar la comunicación familiar para proteger a los hijos de los procesos de acoso y la influencia que los problemas de comunicación tienen sobre la victimización. La intervención en los problemas actuales del acoso entre iguales no puede asumirse solamente desde los centros educativos, ya que esta problemática supera las fronteras de la escuela, necesita de la intervención y del apoyo de otros profesionales educativos que trabajen en vinculación con la familia y la comunidad.

En el siglo XXI se han generado nuevos espacios educativos que requieren incrementar las oportunidades educativas y sociales que facilitan los procesos de inserción social. Una de las realidades de nuestro entorno educativo es la violencia entre iguales. Ni la escuela, ni las políticas sociales, pueden complementar independientemente el apoyo que precisan estos niños. Debemos comprometernos con esta realidad de forma decisiva, aportando recursos y programas educativos que incrementen la calidad de vida de los jóvenes que se ven envueltos en un entorno de violencia entre sus iguales. La lectura puede ser una parte muy importante de la acción-intervención social. Además, la lectura puede participar promoviendo y formando en valores de convivencia, contribuyendo positivamente en la intervención de problemas de exclusión e inadaptación. La incorporación de las imágenes hace a los álbumes ubicarse más cercanos a las características del lector del siglo XXI y poder tratar todo tipo de temáticas. Con la lectura de los álbumes el lector puede entender la cotidianeidad de esas realidades, ponerlas en contacto con su propia vida, reflexionar, ponerse en el lugar del personaje, de la persona que vive en esos contextos o esas situaciones y tomar postura ante determinadas situaciones sociales. Nuestro objetico es introducir a los niños y adolescentes en el análisis de las relaciones entre iguales y de los conflictos de convivencia en los centros educativos a través de la lectura de álbumes. El programa de intervención va dirigido a trabajar conjuntamente con los padres a partir del aprendizaje cooperativo y de la figura de mediación social.

Resumen: Presentamos una experiencia docente realizada conjuntamente con alumnos del Grado de Humanidades y alumnos de la Universidad de Mayores. Nuestra herramienta de trabajo ha sido la novela gráfica Arrugas. La incorporación de la novela gráfica en la docencia universitaria nos está posibilitando el cambio deseado en la mayor autonomía del proceso enseñanza-aprendizaje en nuestro alumnado, permitiendo el traspaso de la tradicional docencia universitaria basada en el rol expositivo del docente, hacia un proyecto común con mayor peso de los discentes. La experiencia desarrollada ha favorecido la interrelación entre los alumnos de la Universidad de Mayores y los alumnos de grado. Relación que se ha mantenido más allá de la experiencia de aula. Es importante destacar la alta satisfacción de todos los estudiantes. Todos mostraron su deseo de continuar la docencia conjunta en otras experiencias. Abstract: We present a teaching experience carried out with the degree of Humanities students and students of the University Programs for Seniors. Our tool has been the graphic novel wrinkles. The incorporation of the graphic novel in university teaching us is enabling the change desired greater autonomy process teaching and learning in our students, allowing the transfer of traditional university teaching based on the expository role of the teacher, towards a common project with greater weight of the learners. The experience developed to favor the interrelation between the senior citizens University students and grade students. The relationship has lasted beyond the classroom experience. It is important to highlight the high satisfaction of all students. All showed their desire to continue the joint teaching in other experiences.

The aim of this study was to determine well-being and its relationship to social support from friends and family communication in university students. A cross-sectional study was conducted with 1679 university students aged 18⁻25 years from four universities in Spain. Logistical regression models were tested (p < 0.05). The students in the last year of university reported higher well-being scores in comparison with students in the previous years. Well-being was inversely related to family communication problems. Family communication and social support from friends were the factors that associated the most with better well-being. All the regression models were statistically significant and explained from 16% of the well-being in Year 4 students until 34% of the well-being in Year 1 students. Our findings could be useful for developing interventions to promote health in order to improve college students’ well-being. It is important for strategies to be developed in mental and family health areas.

El Trabajo Social tiene por objeto incrementar el nivel de bienestar social de la población con necesidades. El perfil profesional del trabajador social del siglo XXI queda definido por unos rasgos propios que le caracterizan frente a otras profesiones, entre los que se encuentran una serie de valores necesarios para llevar a cabo su tarea profesional. El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar la estructura de valores de los estudiantes de Trabajo Social para comprobar cuáles son los que actúan diferencialmente frente a otras profesiones. La muestra de estudio está formada por 523 estudiantes universitarios de la UCLM (211 estudiantes de Trabajo Social), con una media de edad de 21.43 años. Los estudiantes completaron el Schwartz Value Survey (Schwartz, 1992, 2005; Schwartz, Sagiv y Boehnke, 2000). Los ANOVAS confirman que existen diferencias en los valores en función del grado que están realizando los estudiantes, pudiendo definir el perfil de los trabajadores sociales a partir de los valores de benevolencia, universalismo, autodirección y conformidad. Los resultados son discutidos en relación con las competencias y la formación de los trabajadores sociales.

Bullying has been recognized as an important risk factor for mental health. A growing number of researchers have encouraged parents to work collaboratively with schools to prevent and intervene in bullying situations. This study explores the relationship between parents’ awareness of bullying involvement, adolescents’ self-reported victimization, and six possible parents’ responses to their child’s victimization. The participants were 1044 seventh–tenth grade students and their parents. Logistic regressions analyses were applied to determine if parents’ awareness of victimization and adolescents’ self-reporting of victimization were associated with parents’ responses to bullying victimization. The results showed that parents’ awareness of bullying and adolescents’ self-reported victimization were only associated with the “defends herself/himself” and “talks to bully” response. In other words, the parents who believe their child has been bullied are less likely to encourage their children to talk with the bully, and when children are victimized, it is less likely that their parents will encourage them to defend themselves or talk with the bully.

Este artículo describe los resultados y las conclusiones de una investigación sobre el valor de la lectura en los niños, el hábito lector y su estilo de vida en el tiempo de ocio. La muestra de estudio está formada por 1.669 estudiantes de educación Primaria (847 chicos y 822 chicas). Los instrumentos empleados incluyen cuestionarios específicos de lectura y psicológicos. Los resultados muestran que el valor de la lectura varía en función del comportamiento lector y de los hábitos de lectura. Las chicas informan de niveles más altos de lectura que los chicos. En ambos casos, en chicos y chicas, sus hábitos lectores se correlacionan con los hábitos lectores de los padres. Los resultados son discutidos en relación con la relevancia que tiene el contexto escolar y los maestros en la educación lectora.

El objetivo de este artículo es analizar el hábito lector desde una perspectiva actitudinal. Para ello estudiamos la conducta de lectura, el componente afectivo y el estereotipo lector, en estudiantes universitarios. Los resultados muestran que el hábito lector se comporta como una actitud, apareciendo el fenómeno de deseabilidad social, creando un grupo de 'falsos lectores'.

The aim of the study us to analyze the difference of bullying (traditional bullying and cyberbullying) in rural and urban contexts. A total of 1094 junior and senior high school students (62.5% from urban areas, 37.6% from rural areas) from the region of Castile-La Mancha (Spain) took part herein. The results showed a similar proportion of intervention in all bullying roles and in polybullying in urban and rural context schools. However, victimization and physical bullying perpetration is more frequent in schools in urban areas. In rural schools, aggression is normally aimed at schoolmates. Regression showed the link between context and perpetration role. Victims in rural settings expressed greater distress than victims in schools in urban areas. These results indicate that the size of the population where the schools are located may be a relevant factor for the intervention, as well as the need for intervention at individual, group and community level in collaboration between schools and social services. There is no doubt that reading is one of the crucial elements for raising self-awareness, developing critical thinking, and improving communication skills and empathy. Nevertheless, the promotion of reading among teenagers and young adults is an increasingly challenging task in the context of the contemporary digitalized world. Moreover, proficiency in English or another foreign language is also a key factor in the harmonious development of an open-minded, educated person. The author argues that having a reading club is an effective way to promote reading among university students, making them engage with art, literature, and social issues while fostering their English proficiency. One of the biggest challenges to the course's successful functioning is the prejudices many students have against reading. The author proposes an innovative method that was applied in the interdisciplinary course Reading Club in English at a Spanish university. A detailed description of the methodology, academic results, and perception of the students are presented, and recommendations for the successful implementation of this course in other institutions are given. This study explored the link between individual characteristics, immediate social environment variables, and the likelihood of preschoolers being nominated as aggressors or victims. The novelty of the study lies in its comprehensive longitudinal examination, using a multi-informant approach, of how family dynamics, peer relations, teacher-child interactions, and community factors are related to preschool aggression within the context of Bronfenbrenner’s ecological system theory.Methods: Data was collected at two points, four months apart, to investigate the interplay among sociodemographic, individual, family, and school factors and subsequent child aggression. The study included 394 children (184 girls, 210 boys), aged 3 to 6 years (M = 4.36, SD = 0.87). Caregivers completed questionnaires on socioeconomic status, community relationships, children’s emotional regulation, and family functioning. Teachers rated closeness with each child, while children nominated liked and disliked peers, as well as those exhibiting aggressive or victimized behaviour.Results: Logistic regression models revealed stronger associations between peer aggression and victimization and individual factors over microsystems. Surprisingly, community cohesion showed a robust positive link with an increased likelihood of children being nominated as victims, challenging the assumption that positive parenting practices and strong community cohesion always leads to positive outcomes for individuals.Discussion: The study advances theoretical understanding by examining how factors within preschoolers’ microsystems influence aggressive behaviors, contributing to more holistic models for addressing preschool aggression and victimization in schools. The findings highlight the significance of targeted interventions, emphasizing early identification of aggression or victimization signs and customized programs for social and emotional skill development. Addressing parental stress and interparental conflict is crucial. This article explores challenges and opportunities for Japanese Studies during the COVID-19 pandemic in South Korea. From March 2014 to February 2022, after receiving a US PhD, I taught Japanese history in English at an international college for Korean and international students. The pandemic's initial effect was isolation: online courses reduced interactions with students and scholars in Japan cancelled our joint research project activity in Korea. Eventually, however, there emerged solidarity peculiar to where I taught, both with my students and with the Japanese, Korean, and American researchers. In my Japanese history courses, email exchanges with individual students in lieu of class discussion often generated academically valuable yet potentially sensitive inquiries, which could have upset some Korean students if raised in the classroom. For the research, some primary materials turned out to be available online on Korean national libraries' websites. Our further research indicated the richness of sources produced in colonial Korea, including police records documenting lives of Korean workers in wartime Japan. The students' critical inquiries and collaborative research suggest vast possibilities for Japanese Studies, yet illuminate the constraints of national boundaries, reemphasized by the pandemic, in a world that we had hitherto imagined to be moving toward the global and borderless. Bullying is a frequently occurring problem behavior among youths. Some youth are persistently victimized across different school contexts. However, the impact of bullying experiences before and in university on well-being is relatively underexplored. Students who experienced victimization at both time points (before and at university) were classified as chronic victims. This study aimed to explore the prevalence of chronic bullying victimization of university students and examined the relations among chronic bullying victimization, resilience and subjective well-being. This is a cross-sectional study comprising a total of 1122 university students (78% female), aged between 18 and 25 years, in an autonomous community in central Spain. Participants completed a structured survey to assess bullying victimization experiences in university and previous bullying victimization (in Primary and Secondary Schools) experiences. Additionally, participants self-reported subjective well-being and resilience. A considerable proportion of participants (19.2%) reported being chronic bullying victims. The results showed that the chronic bullying victimization group reported the worst emotional well-being. The regression analyses revealed that resilience moderate the association between chronic bullying victimization and emotional well-being. Background: Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are a common pathway to risky behaviour, violence or re-victimisation, disability, illness, and premature mortality and, as such, may be associated with victimisation and perpetration of dating violence not only in adolescence but also in adulthood. Method: A scoping review was performed in accordance with PRISMA guidelines. Four databases (Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed, and PsycINFO) were used to search for studies published between 2000 and 2021 that analysed the relationship between adverse childhood experiences within the family context and the perpetration or victimisation of dating violence in adulthood. Results: The search yielded 599 articles, 32 of which met the inclusion criteria and were ultimately included in the review. Most of the study samples were from the United States. Most of the studies sampled university populations. The studies had a clear objective, were of an appropriate design, contained a detailed description of the sample, and used valid and reliable measurement instruments. Conclusion: This scoping review shows that the relationship between ACEs and perpetration and/or subsequent victimisation is complex and that, while adverse childhood experiences are a factor associated with adult dating violence, they are likely to coexist with other personal, family, and environmental problems. Cyberbullying behaviours begin at primary school, so the actions taken by pre-teachers will play a key role in achieving the goals in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. More specifically, active coping strategies are essential in reducing victimisation. The aim of this study was to identify the coping strategies considered effective by pre-service teachers and to analyse the perceived appropriateness of active and passive strategies in relation to personal variables. The participants were 1122 students on the Bachelor's Degree in Education at the University of Castile-La Mancha in Spain. The study measured the perceived appropriateness of five active coping strategies and four passive coping strategies, moral disengagement, experiences of bullying and cyberbullying, emotions in response to bullying and gender stereotypes. The results show that more than 25% of pre-service teachers are not prepared to manage cyberbullying effectively. Prior experiences of victimisation, personal masculinity in men and moral emotions in women are related to active strategies, while moral disengagement, and pleasant emotions in women, are related to passive strategies. Universities must implement initiatives to ensure that pre-service teachers receive training on effective coping strategies and reflect on the personal factors influencing their decisions. Numerous studies have analyzed the reading habits of university students, demonstrating the benefits of voluntary reading for academic performance. It is thus paradoxical that a large fraction of university students only read instrumentally and are far from adopting stable reading habits. This general situation is repeated among future professionals in the education field, whose personal reading experiences have been proven to have a decisive influence on their training and professional practice. Students on information and documentation degree courses are among the group of future professionals who are strongly linked to reading and who must attain competence in reading and comprehension. The main aim of this study is to use a sample of 214 students on information and documentation degree courses at six Spanish universities to analyze the professional profiles of most interest to them and their relationship with reading, both at a global level and depending on their chosen profile. The results reveal that many students have not identified a clearly defined professional profile. We also confirm findings from other studies on reading habits and behaviors, where it is evident that voluntary reading is not part of their lifestyle, albeit with some differences here between students depending on the professional profile selected. These results support the idea that, although some of these competences do not seem to have a strictly information or documentation nature, given the importance given to them in professional opportunities related to these studies, their reinforcement should be considered in future revisions of such degrees. Digital life forms part of daily reality for young people. For this reason, traditional bullying in school has been reproduced in the online environment, resulting in an overlap of off- and online bullying. Research on socio-emotional competencies and bullying is revealing interesting results among students in secondary schools. However, studies involving primary school students are much scarcer. In addition, the majority of studies have been carried out based on an understanding of socio-emotional competencies as a unidimensional construct. In the present study, we examined the overlap between off- and online bullying victimization and the influence of the factors comprising socio-emotional competencies on this overlap. Participants comprised 1130 students (49.7% were boys and 50.3% were girls) from the fifth and sixth grades at 15 schools in the autonomous communities of Madrid and Castilla-La Mancha (Spain). The results indicate a high rate of overlap between off- and online bullying victimization, without significant gender differences. Poor relationship skills in boys and low self-management in girls were associated with being a victim of both traditional bullying and cyberbullying. The conclusions point to an interesting line of intervention and prevention, establishing a framework of confluence for social and emotional variables within the primary education context. While preliminary research supports the association of interpersonal difficulties with cyberbullying victimization in adolescence, it remains unclear how cyber-relationship motives and strategies for coping with stressful peer situations in 'real settings' differ between victims and non-victims of cyberbullying. The purpose of this study was to verify whether there are differences between groups of cyberbullying victims (severe, occasional and non-victims) in regards to cyber-relationship motives and coping strategies for handling problems with peers among 1058 preadolescents aged 10-12 years. The results show that cyberbullying victims use the Internet to create new relationships, search for anonymity, escape the real world and to compensate for their lack of social skills to a greater extent than non-victims. Severe victims of cyberbullying also use less effective strategies to handle problems with peers than non-victims and occasional victims. Objectives: Previous research has shown that children and youths in residential childcare are exposed to different aggressive behaviors, including peer violence. However, research that has analyzed prevalence of bullying and its relation with psychological distress in this vulnerable group is scarce. Our study was designed to extend previous research, help explain the role of the residential childcare context in bullying behaviors, and explore the relation of bullying with psychological distress among youths in residential childcare in Spain. Method: Fifty-six youths living in residential childcare facilities and 1481 living consistently with at least one biological parent participated. Their age range was 10–15 years. The Bullyharm scale was used to measure bullying. Psychological distress was measured by the Kessler Scale (K10). Results: Youths living in residential childcare reported higher levels of victimization and perpetration than their peers living with their biological parents. The regressions analyses revealed that living in residential childcare facilities positively correlated with psychological distress and perpetration. Conclusions: The residential childcare context is important for understanding individual differences in bullying participation and psychological distress. Cyberbullying has grown as an important societal challenge nowadays. The Cyberbullying affects both in terms of psychological and emotional means of a person. So there is a need to devise a method to detect and prevent cyberbullying in social networks. Most of the existing cyberbullying methods involves only text detection and few methods are available for analysing the visual detection. In this proposed work is going to detect multimodel cyberbullying such as audio, video, image along with text in the social networks. The cyberbully image will be detected using the computer vision algorithm which includes two methods like Image Similarity and Optical Character Recognition (OCR). The cyberbully video will be detected using the Shot Boundary detection algorithm where the video will be broken into frames and analysed using various methods in it. The proposed framework also support to identify the cyberbully audio in the social network. Previous research has indicated that gender identity is related to children's adjustment and well-being. In the current study, involvement in school bullying was our indicator of well-being, and we tested how gender identity and gender typing measures are related to victims, bullies and bully-victims. The relations between these variables were examined with a sample of Spanish 10-12 year-old schoolchildren ( n = 445). Multinomial regression analyses examined the associations among these three roles in bullying with four measures of gender identity (gender typicality, gender contentment, felt pressure, and intergroup bias) and two measures of gender typing (masculine and feminine personality traits). The results revealed that victimization is associated with low gender typicality and also with feminine traits, while perpetration is related with felt pressure to gender conformity and masculine traits. Bully-victim involvement is associated with lack of gender contentedness and masculine traits. These findings suggest that perceiving self as being a typical member of the same sex group is a protective factor for victimization, whereas felt pressure to conform to the cultural stereotypes about gender, self-attribution of masculine traits and lack of satisfaction with one's gender are risk factors for perpetration. The Three-Factor Model (Choi, Fuqua & Newman, 2008, 2009), which consists of a feminine factor and two masculine ones, seems especially appropriate for explaining the influence of gender-stereotypic traits on bullying, since it specifically differentiates between 'social masculinity', the first masculine factor, dealing with behaviors toward others, and 'personal masculinity', the second masculine factor, tapping the personal dimension. Our study aims at examining the relation between social masculinity and bullying, the prediction being that bullying will be more strongly related to social masculinity traits of power and social dominance. The Personality Traits Questionnaire (López-Sáez, Morales & Lisbona, 2008) was administered, together with the Instrument to assess the Incidence of Involvement in Bullying/ Victim Interactions at School (CAME, Rigby & Bagshaw, 2003), to 2560 native Spanish High School students from Castilla-La Mancha and Castilla-León. The appropriateness of the Three-Factor Model for the explanation of bullying was tested via regression computed separately for the boys and the girls to see which factors most predict bullying. It was found that bullies, boys as well as girls, were higher in social masculinity traits. No differences appeared in femininity between students involved in bullying and those not involved. Regarding the Three-Factor Model, the social masculinity factor did explain aggression both for boys and girls, while femininity was significant only for girls.
