To date, there is debate over the optimal management of ACJ injuries. This review provides an overview of assessment, treatment, and future perspectives for the treatment of and research into ACJ.Material and Methods: A scoping literature review was performed. The search was built including the following terms: acromioclavicular joint injuries or dislocation, and pathophysiology, etiology, anatomy, treatment, and trauma mechanism. The papers with evidence levels 1– 3 were included in the current narrative review.Results: A total of 2242 potential relevant studies were identified in the searches. After removal of duplicates, 432 studies were screened on their titles and abstracts, resulting in 35 studies being included in the review, based on the eligibility criteria.Conclusion: The management of acute and chronic ACJ injuries is not clarified in the current literature. However, there is currently insufficient high-level evidence for the overall treatment options for ACJ injuries. If surgical intervention is decided upon in consultation with the patient, the complications may not outweigh the benefits. The multitude of existing techniques is indicative of the uncertainty surrounding this issue, and no gold standard has yet been established for treatment methods. An ideal classification would include not only vertical and horizontal instability, but also the severity of kinematic alterations of the shoulder complex. 2. Inverse design of structural color: finding multiple solutions via conditional generative adversarial networks

Abstract

The “one-to-many” problem is a typical challenge that faced by many machine learning aided inverse nanophotonics designs where one target optical response can be achieved by many solutions (designs). Although novel training approaches, such as tandem network, and network architecture, such as the mixture density model, have been proposed, the critical problem of solution degeneracy still exists where some possible solutions or solution spaces are discarded or unreachable during the network training process. Here, we report a solution to the “one-to-many” problem by employing a conditional generative adversarial network (cGAN) that enables generating sets of multiple solution groups to a design problem. Using the inverse design of a transmissive Fabry–Pérot-cavity-based color filter as an example, our model demonstrates the capability of generating an average number of 3.58 solution groups for each color. These multiple solutions allow the selection of the best design for each color which results in a record high accuracy with an average index color difference ΔE of 0.44. The capability of identifying multiple solution groups can benefit the design manufacturing to allow more viable designs for fabrication. The capability of our cGAN is verified experimentally by inversely designing the RGB color filters. We envisage this cGAN-based design methodology can be applied to other nanophotonic structures or physical science domains where the identification of multi-solution across a vast parameter space is required.

13. Applying a cost-based pricing model for innovative cancer treatments subject to indication expansion: A case study for pembrolizumab and daratumumab.

Abstract

Background: Expanding the indication of already approved immuno-oncology drugs presents treatment opportunities for patients but also strains healthcare systems. Cost-based pricing models are discussed as a possibility for cost containment. This study focuses on two drugs, pembrolizumab (Keytruda) and daratumumab (Darzalex), to explore the potential effect of indication broadening on the estimated price when using the cost-based pricing (CBP) model proposed by Uyl-de Groot and Löwenberg (2018). Methods: The model was used to calculate cumulative yearly prices, cumulative prices per indication, and non-cumulative indication-based prices using inputs such as research and development (R&D) costs, manufacturing costs, eligible patient population, and a profit margin. A deterministic stepwise analysis and scenario analysis were conducted to examine how sensitive the estimated price is to the different input assumptions. Results: The yearly cumulative cost-based prices (CBPs) ranged from €52 to €885 for pembrolizumab per vial and €823 to €31,941 for daratumumab per vial. Prices were higher in initial years or indications due to smaller patient populations, decreased over time or after additional indications. Sensitivity analysis showed that the number of eligible patients had the most significant impact on the estimated price. In the scenario analysis the profit margin contributed most to a higher CBPs for both drugs. Lower estimates resulted from assumed lower R&D costs. Discussion: The estimated CBPs are consistently lower than Dutch list prices for pembrolizumab (€2,861), mainly resulting from larger patient populations in registered indications. However, daratumumab's list prices fall within the range of modeled CBPs depending on the year or indication (€4,766). Both CBPs decrease over time or with additional indications. The number of eligible patients and initial R&D costs have the most significant influence on the CBPs. These findings contribute to the ongoing discussions on pharmaceutical pricing, especially concerning cancer drugs with expanding indications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

20. Ultralow Thermal Conductivity and Improved Thermoelectric Properties of Al‐Doped ZnO by In Situ O2 Plasma Treatment.

Abstract

The thriving of Internet‐of‐Things and integrated wireless sensor networks has brought an unprecedented demand for sustainable micro‐Watt‐scale power supplies. Development of high‐performing micro‐thermoelectric generator (μ‐TEG) that can convert waste thermal energy into electricity and provide sustainable micro‐Watt‐scale power is therefore extremely timely and important. Herein, a significant advance in the development of earth‐abundant, nontoxic thermoelectric materials of aluminum‐doped zinc oxide (AZO) is presented. Through nanostructure engineering using a novel in situ O2 plasma treatment, AZO films are demonstrated with ultralow thermal conductivity of 0.16 W m−1 K−1 which is the lowest reported in the literature. This nanostructured film yields a power factor of 294 μW m−1 K−2 at 563 K and has resulted in a state‐of‐the‐art ZT of 0.11 at room temperature and 0.72 at 563 K for AZO thin films. Furthermore, the fabrication and testing of a prototype lateral μ‐TEG are reported based on the AZO thin film which achieves a power output of 1.08 nW with an applied temperature difference of 16.9 °C. Abstract

Optical Solar Reflectors (OSRs) combine low solar radiation absorption (α) and high broadband infrared emissivity (ε) and are applied to the external surface of spacecraft for its thermal management. Bulk glass OSR tiles are the incumbent, but ultra-lightweight and thin-film flexible OSR coatings are raising considerable interest for both space and terrestrial radiative cooling applications. In this work, a genetic algorithm combined with a transfer matrix method is used for the design and optimization of multimaterial thin-film OSRs for broadband radiative cooling. The algorithm simultaneously optimizes the spectral performance of the OSR at two parts of the wavelength spectrum, solar (0.3–2.5 μm) and thermal infrared (2.5–30 μm). The designed optimized OSR structure consists of 18 alternating layers of three materials, SiN, SiO2, and Ta2O5, on top of an Al mirror backreflector, with a total thickness of only 2.088 μm. The optimized multilayer stack contributes distributed Bragg reflections that reduce the residual solar absorption below that of an uncoated Al mirror. The optimized OSR is demonstrated experimentally on a 150 mm (6 in.) Si wafer and on a flexible polyimide substrate using a production level reactive sputtering tool. The fabricated thin film OSR shows good thermal-optical property with α = 0.11 and ε = 0.75 and achieves a net cooling power of 150.1 W/m2 under conditions of one sun total solar irradiance in space. The ultrathin coating fabricated using hard inorganic materials facilitates its integration onto flexible foils and enables large-scale manufacture of low-cost OSRs for broadband radiative cooling applications. Abstract

Semiconducting transition metal dichalcogenides have gained increased interest as potential alternatives to graphene due to their tunable electronic bandgaps. In this study, we present the deposition of stoichiometric WS2xSe2−2x (0 ≤ x ≤ 1) binary and ternary thin films using the single source precursors, [WECl4(E′nBu2)] (E = S or Se; E′ = S or Se), via low-pressure chemical vapour deposition. Compositional and structural characterisations of the deposits have been performed by grazing-incidence X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and Raman spectroscopy, confirming the phase purity and stoichiometry. Electrical characterisation via Hall measurements reveals high electrical conductivities for those films. Such high conductivity is likely related to Se and S vacancies in the films and can be tuned through an annealing process. The thermoelectric capabilities of the WS2xSe2−2x have been characterised with the use of variable-temperature Seebeck measurements, showing a peak power factor of 6 μW m−1 K−2 for the as-deposited WS2 film at 553 K. Abstract

We report on the development of hybrid organic–inorganic material-based flexible memristor devices made by a fast and simple electrochemical fabrication method. The devices consist of a bilayer of poly-(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and Te-rich GeSbTe chalcogenide nanoscale thin films sandwiched between Ag top and TiN bottom electrodes on both Si and flexible polyimide substrates. These hybrid memristors require no electroforming process and exhibit reliable and reproducible bipolar resistive switching at low switching voltages under both flat and bending conditions. Multistate switching behavior can also be achieved by controlling the compliance current (CC). We attribute the switching between the high resistance state (HRS) and low resistance state (LRS) in the devices to the formation and rupture of conductive Ag filaments within the hybrid PMMA/GeSbTe matrix. This work provides a promising route to fabricate flexible memory devices through an electrodeposition process for application in flexible electronics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
