13. Bifurcation and onset of chaos in an eco-epidemiological system with the influence of time delay.

Abstract

In the present article, we investigated a delay-based eco-epidemic prey–predator system in the presence of environmental fluctuations where predators engage with susceptible and infected prey, adopting Holling type II and ratio-dependent functional responses, respectively. During the study of the considered model, we identify each potential equilibrium point and its local stability criterion. The basic reproduction number has been computed, and the backward bifurcation about the disease-free equilibrium point was analyzed. The article illustrates Hopf bifurcation, global stability at the endemic equilibrium point, and their graphical depiction. We look over the variations in the dynamics of non-delay, delayed, and stochastic systems, revealing that a fixed level of temporal delay results in chaotic motion for the increasing strength of the saturation constant yet is potentially controlled by the predator growth rate. To study the dynamic behavior of the solution of the considered system and verify all theoretical results, we use numerical simulation and minutely analyze the influence of model parameters on the solution of the considered system. 14. Comparison of gastric emptying time between breast‐fed and formula milk‐fed infants less than 6 months old, using gastric ultrasound—An observational study.

Abstract

Background: Fasting before elective anesthesia care is a standardized practice worldwide. The aim is to decrease the risk of aspiration leading to pulmonary complications such as aspiration pneumonitis during anesthesia care. There are different guidelines for elective preoperative fasting in children. However, there is insufficient literature measuring gastric emptying time after breast milk or formula milk feeding in infants. Objective: This study used gastric ultrasound to determine the gastric emptying time for breast milk and formula milk in children below 6 months of age. We also compared the calculated gastric volumes among breast‐fed and formula milk‐fed based on Schmitz's and Spencer's formula. Materials and methods: This prospective observational study was conducted at a tertiary care center in India between November (2017–2019). A total of 52 infants less than 6 months of age were recruited. The study population was divided into two groups (breast‐fed and formula milk‐fed) of 26 patients each. Ultrasound was used to measure the antral cross‐sectional area of the stomach and to calculate the gastric volume using the two classical formulas (Schmitz and Spencer's). Gastric emptying was reported when the bull's eye appearance of the gastric antrum was seen or when the antral cross‐sectional area was less than 3.07 cm2. Results: The number of breast‐fed children whose antral cross‐sectional was greater than 3.07 cm2 (cut‐off value for aspiration risk) beyond 1 h was 14/26 (53.84%) while none (0) children went beyond 3 h. The number of formula‐fed children whose antral cross‐sectional was greater than 3.07 cm2 beyond 1 h was 17/26 (65.38%) while one child (3.84%) went beyond 3 h. Using Schmitz's formula, mean (SD) gastric emptying times were 0.35 ± 0.68 h (95% CI 0.35 ± 0.185, range 0.165–0.535) for breast‐fed patients and 0.35 ± 0.69 h (95% CI 0.35 ± 0.188, range 0.162–0.538) for formula‐fed patients, and were thus neither clinically nor statistically different (p =.73) Using Spencer's formula, the mean gastric emptying times were 0.12 ± 0.33 h (95% CI 0.12 ± 0.09, range 0.03–0.21) for breast‐fed patients and 0.04 ± 0.20 h (95% CI 0.04 ± 0.05, range −0.01 to 0.09) for formula‐fed patients, and were also neither clinically nor statistically different p =.13. Conclusion: In our series, the gastric emptying times in breast‐fed and formula‐fed infants less than 6 months old were similar. Our results support the fasting guidelines of the European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care 2022, that is, 3 h for breastfeeding and 4 h for formula milk feeding. In addition, this shows that the Schmitz's and Spencer's formulae used to calculate the gastric volume based on ultrasound measurement of the antral cross‐sectional area are not comparable in infants less than 6 months. Abstract

In biological pest control systems, several pests (including insects, mites, weeds, etc.) are controlled by biocontrol agents that rely primarily on predation. Following this biocontrol management ecology, we have created a three-tier prey–predator model with prey phase structure and predator gestation delay. Several studies have demonstrated that predators with Holling type-II functional responses sometimes consume immature prey. A study of the well-posedness and local bifurcation (such as saddle-node and transcritical) near the trivial and planer equilibrium points is carried out. Without any time lag, the prey development coefficient has a stabilizing impact, while increasing attack rate accelerates instability. Energy transformation rate and handling time are shown to cause multiple stability switches in the system. Numerical results demonstrate time delay is the key destabilizer that destroys stability. Our model can replicate more realistic events by including time-dependent factors and exploring the dynamic behavior of nonautonomous systems. In the presence of time delay, sufficient conditions of permanence and global attractivity of the nonautonomous system are derived. Abstract

In the present study we have prepared graphene supported CeO2-TiO2 mixed oxide and studied its activity towards photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB) dye. The mixed oxide is prepared with the variation of cerium loading to that of titanium from 2% to 10% by sol-gel method and graphene oxide (GO) is prepared by using modified Hummer's method. The resulting adsorbent nanocomposite is synthesised by chemical reduction method with GO loading 2% by weight to that of mixed metal oxide and employed in the catalytic process through batch wise adsorption to test the optimum level of activity by varying the parameters (pH: 3-10, time: 15-75 min, dye concentration: 5-40 ppm, anions like Cl-, SO4 2-, NO3 -, HCO3 -) with catalyst loading 0.020 g per 0.100 L of the dye solution. It is inferred that the adsorbent catalyst nanocomposite with ceria loading up to 5% with that of titania has better catalytic activity towards the photodegradation of MB with the optimum condition of pH-10 and time-75 minutes. Degraded product characterisation is carried out by LC-MS technique, which confirmed the degradation of MB. The adsorption kinetics is being investigated through pseudo-first-order kinetics and Langmuir adsorption model with good fitting having R2 value 0.986 and 0.993 respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The emerging field of the Internet of Vehicles (IoV) has garnered significant attention due to its potential to revolutionize transportation and mobility. IoV enables the development of innovative services and applications that can enhance the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of transportation systems. However, ensuring secure and reliable communication among different components of an IoV system poses a critical challenge. This study proposes a blockchain-based communication framework for secure and trustworthy IoV applications. The framework utilizes blockchain technology's decentralization and security features to create secure communication channels between IoV system components, including vehicles, infrastructure, and service providers. An identity management system is also integrated into the framework to authenticate and authorize users and devices, thereby preventing unauthorized access and data breaches. To assess the proposed framework's effectiveness, real-world IoV scenarios were used to conduct experiments, and the results demonstrate that the framework can provide secure and trustworthy communication for IoV applications. This article surveys the impact of Homi Bhabha's visionary initiatives in the area of electronics in India. We begin by surveying the early years at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai and the Atomic Energy Establishment at Trombay that nucleated these activities and gave shape to Bhabha's conviction on the importance of electronics for the growth of science and technology and nuclear energy in the country. We trace the evolution of indigenous technology in the areas of nuclear electronics, instrumentation and control systems for nuclear power plants, and assess their impact. This is followed by a review of the role of the Electronics Corporation of India Ltd in the growth of indigenous electronics in the country. Abstract

The pattern of uveitis changes over time with the emergence or identification of new uveitic entities. The aim of this prospective study was to obtain a correct incidence pattern and aetiology of uveitis cases seen in a uveitis clinic. We studied all new uveitic cases seen in a-one year period. A standard clinical protocol was followed for each case. Of the 465 new uveitic cases, anterior uveitis was most commonly encountered (170 cases, 36.5%), followed by posterior uveitis (132 cases, 28.4%), intermediate uveitis (92 cases, 19.8%) and panuveitis (71 cases, 15.3%). The aetiology remained undetermined in majority of the cases (58.7%): anterior uveitis (48.8%), posterior uveitis (45.45%), panuveitis (53.52%). The most common cause was collagen disease (29.4%) in anterior uveitis; toxoplasmosis (30.3%) in posterior uveitis; and Vogt-Koyanagi Harada′s disease (25.35%) in panuveitis.

Background: Timeliness of birth dose vaccination is a prerequisite to ensure early protection of the child from vaccine preventable diseases. So, a Public Private Partnership (PPP) Model was introduced w.e.f 25th June 2019 which ensures free of cost birth dose vaccines for all new born delivered at private nursing homes and hospital supplied from government designated cold chain point maintaining strict cold chain system. Aim: To ensure timely birth dose vaccination for every newborn in all Private Nursing Homes and Hospital of urban areas of West Tripura district. Result: The birth dose vaccination achievement has drastically improved after implementation of the model. 95% babies received Hepatitis B and OPV 0 dose, 42.4 % received BCG birth dose vaccines in the year 2021-2022.Implications: This Model has become an integral part under Routine Immunization Program with existing manpower, no additional financial involvement and government private partnership towards health care of children. Abstract

The main objective and novelty of this study is to investigate the effect of particle size and alkali treatment on physical, mechanical properties of tamarind pod shell (TPS)‐reinforced epoxy composites. The treated and untreated composites were fabricated with different particle sizes with TPS content of 10 wt%. The mechanical, physical, and morphological properties of specimens were investigated. It was revealed that the density and mechanical properties of the treated and untreated composites increased with the decrease in the particle size; whereas, the water absorption percentage and void content decreased for the same. The treated composite with the particle size of 75 μm exhibited the maximum tensile, flexural, and compressive strength. Further, the multiscale finite element (FE) model was developed using the Digimat‐FE software to simulate the tensile behavior of composites with different particle size. The simulation results revealed that the stress concentration level was more in the vicinity of the voids, and the higher stress concentration was observed in the matrix phase with the increase in particle size. Also, it was found that the predicted results from the multiscale FE model showed a good agreement with the experimental results. Abstract

Speeds of sound, densities and viscosities of the binary mixture of Benzyl benzoate with mole fractions of amides - Formamide (FA), N-Methyl formamide (NMF) and Di methyl formamide (DMF) have been estimated utilizing the standard strategies at 303.15, 308.15 and 313.15K. From these deliberate values, different thermo-dynamic parameters such as isentropic compressibility (Ks), intermolecular free length (Lf), molar volume (Vm), Gibbs free energy (ΔG), enthalpy (H) and their excess properties were determined. The figured qualities have been fitted to the Redlich-Kister type polynomial condition utilizing least squares technique to assess the twofold coefficients and standard deviations.
