The present work aims to explore the demonic and ghost dimension within Ivan Turgenev's tale "The Dream." The primary goal is to understand how Trugenev connects the world of the living with that of the ghosts through "dreams" and the appearance of ghosts that create, thus, the sensation of strangeness and confusion in readers, as well as the constraints derived from fatum, all of which can be conceived as literary techniques for discourse processing from which certain interpretations are drawn out. We will pay special attention to the protagonist's dreams, his encounters with the "ghost," and the "demonic possession" that his mother experiences, who is the victim of an alleged generational curse that weighs upon the family and is deeply rooted in a hidden and incongruous murder. The aim of this research work is to carry out an in-depth analysis of the concept of "exorcism" as a genre of magical literature in the form of prayers, oral imprecatory formulas, or inscribed objects (amulets) used during the ritual performances. In order to achieve our purposes, we will deepen the study of the genesis of exorcism by clarifying its archaic roots still present in the shamanic cultures of the prehistory with its survival in the apotropaic rites within the magical-religious Hellenistic (Greek Magical Papyri) and Arab-Islamic (the Qur'an) traditions. These were used for healing and ritual purposes, as well as the ways in which to adapt each of them in the therapies and religious rites of purification and liberation of the so-called "demonic possession." The goal of this research is to explain the growing demand of Spanish language learning as a second language (SL) in Spain and to explore the following affective variables: anxiety, self-esteem, and motivation. Regardless of the positive or negative effects that affective variables may imply, they exert (in)direct influences on the language learning progress of immigrant students and, therefore, impair effective and satisfactory performance of the target language, the Spanish language. We will explore some of the features concerning new information and communication technologies (NICT) for their efficiency to optimize the "affective filter" as well as to provide students with a new variety of learning through practical exercises, which can be done both in and outside of a Spanish as a foreign language (SFL) classroom setting. Abstract: There is a growing concern about the teaching "quality" of Chinese and Arabic as a foreign language; nonetheless, both the investigative and instructive efforts have focused exclusively on linguistic and cognitive aspects as they relegate the affective factors to a secondary position in the learning process. Consequently, the main purpose of the present work of research is, in the first place, to clarify the widespread belief that handicaps the learning of the two modern languages discussed in this article. Next, we also tackle the issue of the affective factors and the influence they exert over the learning process. Thirdly, there will be a brief comment on what the teaching of foreign languages consists of and its aims.
