Abstract

In this paper, we introduce the Floquet mean-field dynamics and Floquet surface hopping approaches to study the nonadiabatic dynamics in periodically driven solid systems. We demonstrate that these two approaches can be formulated in both real and reciprocal spaces. Using the two approaches, we are able to simulate the interaction between electronic carriers and phonons under periodic drivings, such as strong light–matter interactions. Employing the Holstein and Peierls models, we show that strong light–matter interactions can effectively modulate the dynamics of electronic population and mobility. Notably, our study demonstrates the feasibility and effectiveness of modeling low-momentum carriers' interactions with phonons using a truncated reciprocal space basis, an approach impractical in real space frameworks. Moreover, we reveal that even with a significant truncation, carrier populations derived from surface hopping maintain greater accuracy compared to those obtained via mean-field dynamics. 37. A mathematical model to predict "low-lying" posterior communicating artery aneurysms in neurosurgical practice.

Abstract

"Low-lying" posterior communicating artery (PCoA) aneurysms require great attention in surgical clipping due to their distinct anatomical characteristics. In this study, we propose an easy method to immediately recognize "low-lying" PCoA aneurysms in neurosurgical practice. A total of 89 cases with "low-lying" PCoA aneurysms were retrospectively analyzed. All patients underwent preoperative digital subtraction angiography (DSA) examinations and microsurgical clipping. Cases were classified into the "low-lying" and regular groups based on intraoperative findings. The distance- and angle-relevant parameters that reflected the relative location of the aneurysms and tortuosity of the internal carotid artery were measured using 3D-DSA images. The data were sequentially integrated into a mathematical analysis to obtain the prediction model. Finally, we proposed a novel mathematical formula to preoperatively predict the existence of "low-lying" PCoA aneurysms with great accuracy. Abstract

Tumor microenvironment (TME)‐induced nanocatalytic therapy is a promising strategy for cancer treatment, but the low catalytic efficiency limits its therapeutic efficacy. Single‐atom catalysts (SACs) are a new type of nanozyme with incredible catalytic efficiency. Here, a single‐atom manganese (Mn)‐N/C nanozyme is constructed. Mn‐N/C catalyzes the conversion of cellular H2O2 to ∙OH through a Fenton‐like reaction and enables the sufficient generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which induces immunogenic cell death (ICD) of tumor cells and significantly promotes CD8+T anti‐tumor immunity. Moreover, RNA sequencing analysis reveals that Mn‐N/C treatment activates type I interferon (IFN) signaling, which is critical for Mn‐N/C‐mediated anti‐tumor immune response. Mechanistically, the release of cytosolic DNA and Mn2+ triggered by Mn‐N/C collectively activates the cGAS‐STING pathway, subsequently stimulating type I IFN induction. A highly efficient single‐atom nanozyme, Mn‐N/C, which enhances anti‐tumor immune response and exhibits synergistic therapeutic effects when combined with the anti‐PD‐L1 blockade, is proposed. 49. Nitrogen Addition Promotes the Accumulation of Soil Particulate Organic Carbon in a Subtropical Forest.

Abstract

Nitrogen (N) deposition rates of terrestrial ecosystems have gradually declined but are still high in some areas. Previous studies have reported that N addition elicits diverse impacts on soil organic carbon (SOC) pools. SOC can be divided into different functional fractions, namely, particulate organic carbon (POC) and mineral-associated organic carbon (MAOC). The responses of these fractions to N addition should be elucidated to better understand the changes in SOC pools. Here, we conducted a N addition experiment (0, 40, and 80 kg N ha−1 yr−1) in a subtropical Castanopsis fabri forest to simulate N deposition. The surface (0−10 cm) SOC fractions, aboveground litter product, fine root (diameter < 2 mm) biomass, soil exchangeable cation content, and soil enzyme activity under different N addition treatments were measured. The results showed the following: (1) N addition showed a positive effect on POC and SOC contents but did not significantly affect MAOC content; (2) POC content was negatively correlated with pH and soil enzyme activity and positively correlated with aboveground litter product, suggesting that POC accumulation was influenced by aboveground litter input and microbial decomposition; (3) a close negative relationship was observed between exchangeable Al3+ and Ca2+ or K+ contents, indicating that there is likely to be a trade-off between the mineral sorption and desorption, thus resulting in an insignificant reaction of MAOC to N addition. Overall, the accumulation of SOC under short-term N addition was found to be primarily driven by POC, and the response of different SOC functional fractions to N addition was inconsistent. By incorporating these nuances into ecosystem models, it is possible to predict SOC dynamics more accurately in response to global change. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
