Detection of metal ions in solution has been performed without employing H[subscript 2]S or any other sulfide materials. The new method is free from the interference from anions. Identification of Na[superscript +], K[superscript +], and NH[subscript 4][superscript +] has been made possible directly from an aqueous extract of the sample mixture. A technique has been developed to identify Mg[superscript 2+] directly without group separation. Metal ions have been classified into four groups by sequential treatment with 5 N HCl, Na[subscript 2]SO[subscript 4], and 5 N NaOH as group reagents. In comparison to the existing method, it is much faster and, at the same time, reliable enough.

The purpose of this study was to understand the nature of writing instruction across time and grade bands. We used quantitative and qualitative analyses of teacher interviews and video records of classroom instruction of English language arts writing instruction in 97 fourth- through eighth-grade classrooms in 2010 and 2018. Video records showed a decline in writing instruction across time and grade bands. Teacher lessons focused on the first five Common Core Writing Standards with little attention to the latter five. The lessons included aspects of a writing process approach that used instructional scaffolding, models, student practice, and teacher feedback. Lessons were less likely to include the use of authentic texts, text analysis, and student discussion. Teacher interviews pointed to curricular constraints, a view of writing as peripheral, and comfort with teaching writing as hindrances to quality writing instruction. These findings demonstrate a need for curricular and instructional resources to support teachers in offering consistently quality writing instruction.

The advent of the digital age represents a transformative era in which technology, primarily social media platforms, has become an integral part of the daily lives of individuals worldwide. Students are the most prolific users of social media, utilizing these platforms for a variety of purposes, including communication, information sharing, entertainment, and social networking. This study evaluated the connection between student social media use and academic performance through family bonding and collaborative learning. This research also explores how mental wellbeing moderates the link between students' family bonding, collaborative learning, and academic performance. This research article analyzes a sample of 330 university students from the public and private sectors and tests the proposed hypothesized relationships. The study used the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) methodological approach for evaluating proposed parameters. The findings indicated that social media use positively correlated with students' academic performance. Second, family bonding and collaborative learning significantly moderated the association between students' academic performance and social media use. Finally, mental well-being significantly moderated the connection between students' collaborative learning, family bonding, and academic performance. This study's findings contribute to the knowledge of global education with valuable insights into students' psychological well-being and academic performance. In theory, the current research advances the scientific understanding of education by assessing social media usage's effects on students' academic performance and psychological well-being.

BackgroundProfessional society guidelines are emerging for cardiovascular care in cancer patients. However, it is not yet clear how effectively the cancer survivor population is screened and treated for cardiomyopathy in contemporary clinical practice. As electronic health records (EHRs) are now widely used in clinical practice, we tested the hypothesis that an EHR-based cardio-oncology registry can address these questions. ObjectiveThe aim of this study was to develop an EHR-based pragmatic cardio-oncology registry and, as proof of principle, to investigate care gaps in the cardiovascular care of cancer patients. MethodsWe generated a programmatically deidentified, real-time EHR-based cardio-oncology registry from all patients in our institutional Cancer Population Registry (N=8275, 2011-2017). * Context.--Galactose-deficient immunoglobulin A1 (Gd-IgA1) deposition in the renal mesangium plays a role in the pathogenesis of IgA nephropathy. Objective.--To assess the serum Gd-IgA1 level in biopsy-proven IgA nephropathy cases at diagnosis and 3 months post treatment and its relation with histologic Oxford classification. Design.--In this hospital-based prospective cohort study, 40 cases and 20 controls were enrolled. Serum samples of biopsy-proven IgA nephropathy cases collected on the day of biopsy and 3 months post treatment were evaluated. Solid-phase ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) was performed for assessment of Gd-IgA1 level. All renal biopsies were scored by using the Oxford classification (C-MEST score). The association of serum Gd-IgA1 levels with other established prognostic parameters was assessed. To estimate the prognostic value of markers, logistic regression analysis and Kruskal-Wallis ANOVA (analysis of variance) were used. Results.--A significant difference was observed in the serum Gd-IgA1 level values in the IgA nephropathy cases and healthy controls (P = .001) at baseline. However, no significant correlation between serum Gd-IgA1 levels at baseline and 3 months of follow-up (P = .31) or between baseline levels and age, proteinuria, hematuria, or estimated glomerular filtration rate was noted. There was no significant correlation between C-MEST score and serum Gd-IgA1 levels at baseline (P > .05); however, the distribution of Gd-IgA1 at 3 months was found to differ significantly between different grades of S score (P = .008). Conclusions.--Serum Gd-IgA1 levels may be of utility in predicting disease progression in IgA nephropathy cases. Measurement of serum Gd-IgA1 levels for the diagnosis and prognosis of IgA nephropathy may preclude the need for invasive renal biopsies. Abstract Introduction: Upper ureteric stricture is always a challenging case to treat for any urologist. Due to chronic inflammation and multiple interventions, it becomes a complex entity to treat. Buccal Mucosal Graft (BMG) Ureteroplasty is a reconstructive surgery used to treat upper ureteric stricture but the results and experience with this modality is less explored so far. We present here our study of 16 cases of BMG ureteroplasty and its outcomes done by the laparoscopic and robotic approaches. Patients and Methods: We analysed 16 cases of BMG ureteroplasty, which were performed both laparoscopically and robotically. All these cases were long ureteric strictures, not amenable to excision or endoscopic intervention. We performed using an onlay BMG without complete mobilisation of the ureter. The omentum or nearby fat was used as a bed for onlay BMG. Results: All 16 patients underwent onlay ureteroplasty. The reconstructed ureter was wrapped with omentum in nine of the cases, while in seven patients, nearby fat was used. The median stricture length was 5.28 cm, and the median operative time was 143.5 min. The mean operative time was 143.5 min. 15 of 16 (93.75) cases were successfully clinically and radiologically on follow-up. Conclusion: Long-segment upper ureteric strictures are a difficult entity to operate on. BMG ureteroplasty is a safe and effective way of managing such strictures. Robot-assisted ureteroplasty provides the benefits of improved ergonomics, easy manoeuvrability and precision surgery to the patients. Our experience with both laparoscopic and robotic ureteroplasty would encourage urologists all over to use BMG ureteroplasty as an effective long-term procedure for ureteral reconstruction.
