In this work, we first discuss the positive equilibrium point of the continuous predator–prey system and its stability, and we discuss the parameter conditions under which the continuous system undergoes a cusp bifurcation (Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation) of codimension two bifurcation at the positive equilibrium point. Then, we provide an insightful study of discrete predator–prey systems by the use of Euler's method, which includes square-root function responses and nonlinear prey harvesting. By synthesizing the new standard form of differential-algebraic systems, the central manifold theorem, and the bifurcation theory, we identify the specific conditions under which the system may undergo flip bifurcation and Neimark–Sacker bifurcation. In addition, codimension-two bifurcations associated with 1:2 strong resonances are analyzed by using a series of affine transformations and bifurcation theory. Through numerical simulations, we not only verify the validity and correctness of our findings, but also elucidate the frequency of trajectory bifurcations in the intervals of 2, 4, and 8 and chaotic phenomena. These findings reveal a richer and more diverse dynamic behavior of discrete differential-algebraic bioeconomic systems, which is of great theoretical and practical significance to the fields of mathematics and biology. In this work, we analyze a two-dimensional continuous-time differential equations system derived from a Leslie–Gower predator–prey model with a generalist predator and prey group defence. For our model, we fully characterize the existence and quantity of equilibrium points in terms of the parameters, and we use this to provide necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence and the explicit form of two kinds of equilibrium points: both a degenerate one with associated nilpotent Jacobian matrix, and a weak focus. These conditions allows us to determine whether the system undergoes Bogdanov–Takens and Hopf bifurcations. Consequently, we establish the existence of a simultaneous Bogdanov–Taken and Hopf bifurcation. In this paper, the imperfect and Bogdanov–Takens bifurcations are investigated in a Leslie–Gower predator–prey model with constant stocking and harvesting. It is shown that the introduction of the stocking of predators can prompt the extinction of prey; with the harvesting of predators, the model will experience the imperfect bifurcation and the Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation; meanwhile, no such bifurcations occur in the model with the stocking. A Leslie–Gower predator–prey model with nonlinear harvesting and a generalist predator is considered in this paper. It is shown that the degenerate positive equilibrium of the system is a cusp of codimension up to 4, and the system admits the cusp-type degenerate Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation of codimension 4. Moreover, the system has a weak focus of at least order 3 and can undergo degenerate Hopf bifurcation of codimension 3. We verify, through numerical simulations, that the system admits three different stable states, such as a stable fixed point and three limit cycles (the middle one is unstable), or two stable fixed points and two limit cycles. Our results reveal that nonlinear harvesting and a generalist predator can lead to richer dynamics and bifurcations (such as three limit cycles or tristability); specifically, harvesting can cause the extinction of prey, but a generalist predator provides some protection for the predator in the absence of prey. This paper establishes a prey–predator model with a Holling type IV functional response and proportional harvesting in prey species and nonlinear harvesting in predator species. We provide a completely local and global bifurcation analysis of the model to characterize some meaningful results that may emerge from the interaction of biological resources. The proposed model exhibits various complex behaviors involving heteroclinic and homoclinic orbits, and we prove analytically that it also undergoes transcritical, Hopf, and Bogdanov–Takens bifurcations in the prey–predator plane. Moreover, the system is unfolded to compute the bifurcation curves, highlighting the critical dynamics by perturbing two bifurcation parameters near the cusp. Furthermore, from the economic point of view, the bionomic equilibrium of the system is studied, and optimal harvesting policy is derived using the Pontryagin’s maximum principle. In our modern world, rumours have triggered chaos and conflicts. Study of the dynamics of rumor propagation helps yield effective countermeasures to resist rumour propagation. It is a major task to study an ordinary differential equation (ODE) model on high-order incidence and treatment function for its dynamical behaviours. First and foremost, we build an ODE model depending on the actual transmission mechanism. Secondly, we study the basic properties of solutions including non-negativity, boundedness and situation of inexistence of the limit cycle. Thirdly, we study the necessary conditions of the equilibrium points for the existence, stability and instability. Furthermore, this study analyses bifurcations induced by parameters around the equilibrium point of rumour-spreading. Finally, several numerical simulations are given to show diverse dynamics behaviours of the model on different parameters and the factors affecting rumour propagation are theoretically analysed, which proves the validity of the theoretical analysis. In this paper we study bifurcations in mass-action networks with two chemical species and reactant complexes of molecularity no more than two. We refer to these as planar, quadratic networks as they give rise to (at most) quadratic differential equations on the nonnegative quadrant of the plane. Our aim is to study bifurcations in networks in this class with the fewest possible reactions, and the lowest possible product molecularity. We fully characterise generic bifurcations of positive equilibria in such networks with up to four reactions, and product molecularity no higher than three. In these networks we find fold, Andronov–Hopf, Bogdanov–Takens and Bautin bifurcations, and prove the non-occurrence of any other generic bifurcations of positive equilibria. In addition, we present a number of results which go beyond planar, quadratic networks. For example, we show that mass-action networks without conservation laws admit no bifurcations of codimension greater than m - 2 , where m is the number of reactions; we fully characterise quadratic, rank-one mass-action networks admitting fold bifurcations; and we write down some necessary conditions for Andronov–Hopf and cusp bifurcations in mass-action networks. Enzyme-catalyzed reactions are frequently observed in the chemical process, and could be described by the mathematical model, such as the Gray–Scott model with Langmuir–Hinshelwood mechanism. The complex dynamical behaviors are analyzed in this work, including the existence and their stability of equilibrium points and the bifurcations of the model. In this paper, we investigate a Leslie-type predator-prey model that incorporates prey harvesting and group defense, leading to a modified functional response. Our analysis focuses on the existence and stability of the system's equilibria, which are essential for the coexistence of predator and prey populations and the maintenance of ecological balance. We identify the maximum sustainable yield, a critical factor for achieving this balance. Through a thorough examination of positive equilibrium stability, we determine the conditions and initial values that promote the survival of both species. We delve into the system's dynamics by analyzing saddle-node and Hopf bifurcations, which are crucial for understanding the system transitions between various states. To evaluate the stability of the Hopf bifurcation, we calculate the first Lyapunov exponent and offer a quantitative assessment of the system's stability. Furthermore, we explore the Bogdanov-Takens (BT) bifurcation, a co-dimension 2 scenario, by employing a universal unfolding technique near the cusp point. This method simplifies the complex dynamics and reveals the conditions that trigger such bifurcations. Stability analysis and bifurcation of the nutrient-microorganism model are presented in this paper. It is found that the model could experience the changes of the equilibrium points and the saddle-node, the Hopf and the codimension-2 Bogdanov-Takens bifurcations. In this work, the Hopf and Bogdanov–Takens bifurcations of a delayed Bazykin predator–prey model with predator intraspecific interactions and ratio-dependent functional response are studied. Sufficient conditions for the existence of Hopf bifurcation are established. In the Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation, the dynamics near the nonhyperbolic equilibrium can be reduced to the study of the dynamics of the corresponding normal form restricted to the associated two-dimensional center manifold. Some numerical simulations, such as the distribution of eigenvalues, the bifurcation diagrams of Hopf and Bogdanov–Takens bifurcations and phase portraits, are given to illustrate the theoretical criteria. The theoretical and numerical simulation results illustrate that there is supercritical Hopf bifurcation and subcritical Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation in this model. In this paper, the impact of the strong Allee effect and ratio-dependent Holling–Tanner functional response on the dynamical behaviors of a predator–prey system is investigated. First, the positivity and boundedness of solutions of the system are proved. Then, stability and bifurcation analysis on equilibria is provided, with explicit conditions obtained for Hopf bifurcation. Moreover, global dynamics of the system is discussed. In particular, the degenerate singular point at the origin is proved to be globally asymptotically stable under various conditions. Further, a detailed bifurcation analysis is presented to show that the system undergoes a codimension- 1 Hopf bifurcation and a codimension- 2 cusp Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation. In this paper, we study a class of compatimental epidemiological models consisting of Susceptible, Infected, and Removed (SIR) individuals with a perturbation factor or exterior effects such as noise, climate change, pollution, etc. We prove the existence and uniqueness of a limit cycle confined in a nonempty closed and convex set by relying on a recent result of Lobanova and Sadovskii. Moreover, we study the existence of Hopf and Bogdanov-Takens bifurcations by applying respectively Poincare-Andronov-Hopf bifurcation theorem and Bogdanov-Takens theorem. Behavior change significantly influences the transmission of diseases during outbreaks. To incorporate spontaneous preventive measures, we propose a model that integrates behavior change with disease transmission. The model represents behavior change through an imitation process, wherein players exclusively adopt the behavior associated with higher payoff. We find that relying solely on spontaneous behavior change is insufficient for eradicating the disease. The dynamics of behavior change are contingent on the basic reproduction number R a corresponding to the scenario where all players adopt non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs). When R a < 1 , partial adherence to NPIs remains consistently feasible. We can ensure that the disease stays at a low level or maintains minor fluctuations around a lower value by increasing sensitivity to perceived infection. In cases where oscillations occur, a further reduction in the maximum prevalence of infection over a cycle can be achieved by increasing the rate of behavior change. When R a > 1 , almost all players consistently adopt NPIs if they are highly sensitive to perceived infection. Further consideration of saturated recovery leads to saddle-node homoclinic and Bogdanov–Takens bifurcations, emphasizing the adverse impact of limited medical resources on controlling the scale of infection. Finally, we parameterize our model with COVID-19 data and Tokyo subway ridership, enabling us to illustrate the disease spread co-evolving with behavior change dynamics. We further demonstrate that an increase in sensitivity to perceived infection can accelerate the peak time and reduce the peak size of infection prevalence in the initial wave. We propose a mathematical model for two species competing for a limited resource associated to polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) production, which possesses regime of stable states: stable equilibrium, and periodic and aperiodic oscillations. Such regimes of stable oscillations are absent in the model without taking into account PHA production but is known to exist in experimental model associated to the production of PHA. It explains the capacity of the system to sustain itself at the lowest value of resource. Thus, the proposed system provides a simpler four-dimensional model containing monod functions with such behaviours. Using analytical tools and numerical bifurcation analysis, we describe parameter regions and bifurcation structures leading to the existence and the coexistence between stable, unstable equilibrium and limit cycle. These explain critical parameter sensitivity impact on the process. Considering the effects on the proposed system under a frequent alternation of the input resource, we investigate how the increase of the length of the feast period in the Feast-Famine conditions, increases the PHA-production or decreases the lowest value of the resource at the equilibrium. In this paper, a new generalized non-monotonic and saturated incidence rate was introduced into a susceptible-infected-susceptible (SIS) epidemic model to account for inhibitory effect and crowding effect. The dynamic properties of the model were studied by qualitative theory and bifurcation theory. It is shown that when the influence of psychological factors is large, the model has only disease-free equilibrium point, and this disease-free equilibrium point is globally asymptotically stable; when the influence of psychological factors is small, for some parameter conditions, the model has a unique endemic equilibrium point, which is a cusp point of co-dimension two, and for other parameter conditions the model has two endemic equilibrium points, one of which could be weak focus or center. In addition, the results of the model undergoing saddle-node bifurcation, Hopf bifurcation and Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation as the parameters vary were also proved. In the Antarctic, the whale population had been reduced dramatically due to the unregulated whaling. It was expected that Antarctic krill, the main prey of whales, would grow significantly as a consequence and exploratory krill fishing was practiced in some areas. However, it was found that there has been a substantial decline in abundance of krill since the end of whaling, which is the phenomenon of krill paradox. In this paper, to study the krill–whale interaction we revisit a harvested predator–prey model with Holling I functional response. We find that the model admits at most two positive equilibria. When the two positive equilibria are located in the region { (N , P) | 0 ≤ N < 2 N c , P ≥ 0 } , the model exhibits degenerate Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation with codimension up to 3 and Hopf bifurcation with codimension up to 2 by rigorous bifurcation analysis. When the two positive equilibria are located in the region { (N , P) | N > 2 N c , P ≥ 0 } , the model has no complex bifurcation phenomenon. When there is one positive equilibrium on each side of N = 2 N c , the model undergoes Hopf bifurcation with codimension up to 2. Moreover, numerical simulation reveals that the model not only can exhibit the krill paradox phenomenon but also has three limit cycles, with the outmost one crosses the line N = 2 N c under some specific parameter conditions. This work examines a discrete Leslie-Gower model of prey-predator dynamics with Holling type-IV functional response and harvesting effects. The study includes the existence and local stability analysis of all fixed points. Using center manifold theory, the codimension-1 bifurcations, viz. transcritical, Neimark–Sacker, fold, and period-doubling bifurcations, are determined for varying parameters. Moreover, the existence of codimension-2 Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation and Chenciner bifurcation is demonstrated, requiring two parameters to vary for the bifurcation to occur, and the non-degeneracy conditions for Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation are determined. An extensive numerical study is conducted to confirm the analytical findings. A wide range of dense, chaotic windows can be seen in the system, including period-2, 4, 8, and 16, period-doubling bifurcations, Neimark–Sacker bifurcations, and Chenciner and BT curves following two-parameters bifurcations. The influences of Allee effect and density‐dependent mortality on population growth are of great significance in ecology. In this paper, we first consider a Gause‐type predator–prey model with simplified Holling type IV functional response, strong Allee effect on prey, and density‐dependent mortality of predator. It is shown that the system exhibits rich and complex dynamics like bistability, local and global bifurcations such as transcritical bifurcation, saddle‐node bifurcation, Hopf bifurcation, cusp bifurcation, Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation, Bautin bifurcation, homoclinic bifurcation, saddle‐node bifurcation of limit cycle, and heteroclinic bifurcation. Next, we separately explore the influences of Allee effect and density‐dependent mortality on the dynamics of the same model. The results show that the strong Allee effect induces the occurrence of heteroclinic bifurcation and the reduction of the number of limit cycles, while the density‐dependent mortality stabilizes the system. The Bogdanov-Takens bifurcation of the SIRS epidemic model with nonlinear incidence rate was studied by Ruan and Wang (2003) [11] , Tang et al. (2008) [13] and Lu et al. (2019) [9] in recent years. The results in the mentioned papers showed that the SIRS epidemic model with nonlinear incidence rate k I 2 / (1 + ω I 2) can undergo a Bogdanov-Takens bifurcation of codimension two. In this paper we study the SIRS epidemic model with nonlinear incidence rate k I p / (1 + ω I q) for general p and q. The bifurcation analysis indicates that there is a saddle-node or a cusp of codimension two for various parameter values and the model can undergo a saddle-node bifurcation or a Bogdanov-Takens bifurcation of codimension two if suitable bifurcation parameters are selected. It means that there are some SIRS epidemic models which have a limit cycle or a homoclinic loop. Moreover, it is also shown that the codimension of Bogdanov-Takens bifurcation is at most two. In this paper, rich dynamics and complex bifurcations of an SIR epidemic model with saturated incidence rate and strong Allee effect are investigated. First, the existence of disease-free and endemic equilibria is explored, and we prove that the system has at most three positive equilibria, which exhibit different types such as hyperbolic saddle and node, degenerate unstable saddle (node) of codimension 2, degenerate saddle-node of codimension 3 at disease-free equilibria, and cusp, focus, and elliptic types Bogdanov–Takens singularities of codimension 3 at endemic equilibria. Second, bifurcation analysis at these equilibria are investigated, and it is found that the system undergoes a series of bifurcations, including transcritical, saddle node, Hopf, degenerate Hopf, homoclinic, cusp type Bogdanov–Takens of codimensional 2, and focus and elliptic type Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation of codimension 3 which are composed of some bifurcations with lower codimension. The system shows very rich dynamics such as the coexistence of multiple periodic orbits and homoclinic loops. Finally, numerical simulations are conducted on the theoretical results. In this paper, the stability and bifurcation of a two–dimensional p53 gene regulatory network without and with time delay are taken into account by rigorous theoretical analyses and numerical simulations. In the absence of time delay, the existence and local stability of the positive equilibrium are considered through the Descartes' rule of signs, the determinant and trace of the Jacobian matrix, respectively. Then, the conditions for the occurrence of codimension–1 saddle–node and Hopf bifurcation are obtained with the help of Sotomayor's theorem and the Hopf bifurcation theorem, respectively, and the stability of the limit cycle induced by hopf bifurcation is analyzed through the calculation of the first Lyapunov number. Furthermore, codimension-2 Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation is investigated by calculating a universal unfolding near the cusp. In the presence of time delay, we prove that time delay can destabilize a stable equilibrium. All theoretical analyses are supported by numerical simulations. These results will expand our understanding of the complex dynamics of p53 and provide several potential biological applications.

In this paper, we investigate the dynamic behavior of a modified Leslie-Gower predator-prey model with the Allee effect on both prey and predator. It is shown that the model has at most two positive equilibria, where one is always a hyperbolic saddle and the other is a weak focus with multiplicity of at least three by concrete example. In addition, we analyze the bifurcations of the system, including saddle-node bifurcation, Hopf bifurcation and Bogdanov-Takens bifurcation. The results show that the model has a cusp of codimension three and undergoes a Bogdanov-Takens bifurcation of codimension two. The system undergoes a degenerate Hopf bifurcation and has two limit cycles (the inner one is stable and the outer one is unstable). These enrich the dynamics of the modified Leslie-Gower predator-prey model with the double Allee effects.

To reduce the chance of predation, many prey species adopt group defense mechanisms. While it is commonly believed that such defense mechanisms lead to positive feedback on prey density, a closer observation reveals that it may impact the growth rate of species. This is because individuals invest more time and effort in defense rather than reproductive activities. In this study, we delve into a predator–prey system where predator-induced fear influences the birth rate of prey, and the prey species exhibit group defense mechanism. We adopt a nonmonotonic functional response to govern the predator–prey interaction, which effectively captures the group defense mechanism. We present a detailed mathematical analysis, encompassing the determination of feasible equilibria and their stability conditions. Through the analytical approach, we demonstrate the occurrence of Hopf and Bogdanov–Takens (BT) bifurcations. We observe two distinct types of bistabilities in the system: one between interior and predator-free equilibria, and another between limit cycle and predator-free equilibrium. In this paper, we study the codimensions of Hopf bifurcation and Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation of a predator–prey model with alternative prey and prey refuges, which was proposed by Chen et al. [2023]. The results show that the predator–prey model can undergo a supercritical Hopf bifurcation or a Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation of codimension two under certain parameter conditions. It means that there are some predator–prey models with an alternative prey and prey refuges which have a limit cycle or a homoclinic loop. In this paper, we investigated the dynamics of the interaction between Microcystis aeruginosa and filter-feeding fish in a new aquatic ecological model and considered the effects of aggregation and harvesting and focused on studying the critical threshold conditions through the analysis of saddle-node bifurcation, Hopf bifurcation, and Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation. We also conducted numerical simulations to illustrate our findings and provided biological interpretations. The results obtained indicate that the aggregation effect or harvesting can disrupt the coexistence of Microcystis aeruginosa and filter-feeding fish. The filter-feeding fish population may go extinct while the Microcystis aeruginosa population could survive. We identified the importance of finding an appropriate timing for harvesting Microcystis aeruginosa in order to promote the growth of the filter-feeding fish population. This optimal timing may be influenced by the carrying capacity of Microcystis aeruginosa. Taken together, our study sheds light on the dynamics of Microcystis aeruginosa and filter-feeding fish in an aquatic ecosystem, highlighting the critical role of aggregation, harvesting, and timing in determining the coexistence and survival of these species. The paper discusses the effects of constant prey harvesting on the dynamics of a modified Leslie–Gower predator–prey model. Prey harvesting will lead to enriched dynamics to help us realize ecological phenomena such as the extinction of some species with a positive initial density when the harvesting rate is larger than a critical level. All these may be very useful for biological management. Based on these reasons, firstly, we analyze the existence conditions and stability of different equilibrium points to predict the eventual state of the given system. In particular, the existence of cusps of Codimensions 2 and 3 is proved. Secondly, we successfully demonstrate the presence of Hopf bifurcation and saddle‐node bifurcation for specified parameter values. To prove the limit cycle stability of Hopf bifurcation, we use the first Lyapunov coefficient K$$ K $$ for illustration. As well as calculating the universal expansion near the cusp, the Bogdanov–Takens bifurcations of Codimensions 2 and 3 are investigated. If the parameters are chosen fittingly, there will be a stable or an unstable limit cycle, a homoclinic loop, two limit cycles, or both a limit cycle and a homoclinic loop simultaneously in the system. The tea green leafhopper Empoasca onukii is one kind of insect pest threatening the tea production, and the mite Anystis baccarum has been used as an agent for pest control. In this paper, we introduce a generalist predator-prey model to study the dynamics for informing biological control. There have been some bifurcation studies of the generalist predator-prey model in the last few years. Except for the bifurcations include saddle-node bifurcation of codimension 1 and 2, Hopf bifurcations, and Bogdanov-Takens bifurcation of codimension 2 and 3, we also present the bifurcations of nilpotent singularities of elliptic and focus type of codimension 3. We find that the nilpotent singularities are associated with a cubic Liénard system, and the nilpotent bifurcations are three-parameter bifurcations of a codimension 4 nilpotent focus. Furthermore, we show that the nilpotent focus serves as an organizing center to connect all the codimension 3 bifurcations in the system. We also present the bifurcation diagrams to unfold the nilpotent singularities of codimension 3. The dynamics of prey–predator system, when one or both the species are harvested non-linearly, has become a topic of intense study because of its wide applications in biological control and species conservation. In this paper we have discuss different bifurcation analysis of a two dimensional prey–predator model with Beddington–DeAngelis type functional response in the presence of prey refuge and non-linear harvesting of both species. We have studied the positivity and boundedness of the model system. All the biologically feasible equilibrium points are investigated and their local stability is analyzed in terms of model parameters. The global stability of coexistence equilibrium point has been discussed. Depending on the prey harvesting effort ( E 1 ) and degree of competition among the boats, fishermen and other technology ( l 1 ) used for prey harvesting, the number of axial and interior equilibrium points may change. The system experiences different type of co-dimension one bifurcations such as transcritical, Hopf, saddle-node bifurcation and co-dimension two Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation. The parameter values at the Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation point are highly sensitive in the sense that the nature of coexistence equilibrium point changes dramatically in the neighbourhood of this point. The feasible region of the bifurcation diagram in the l 1 - E 1 parametric plane divides into nine distinct sub-regions depending on the number and nature of equilibrium points. In this paper, we investigate the stability and bifurcation of a Leslie-Gower predator-prey model with a fear effect and nonlinear harvesting. We discuss the existence and stability of equilibria, and show that the unique equilibrium is a cusp of codimension three. Moreover, we show that saddle-node bifurcation and Bogdanov-Takens bifurcation can occur. Also, the system undergoes a degenerate Hopf bifurcation and has two limit cycles (i.e., the inner one is stable and the outer is unstable), which implies the bistable phenomenon. We conclude that the large amount of fear and prey harvesting are detrimental to the survival of the prey and predator.

In this paper, we study a predator-prey system, the modified Holling-Tanner model with strong Allee effect. The existence and stability of the non-negative equilibria are discussed first. Several kinds of bifurcation phenomena, which the model may undergo, such as saddle-node bifurcation, Hopf bifurcation, and Bogdanov-Takens bifurcation, are studied second. Bifurcation diagram for Bogdanov-Takens bifurcation of codimension 2 is given. Then, possible dynamical behaviors of this model are illustrated by numerical simulations. This paper appears to be the first study of the modified Holling-Tanner model that includes the influence of a strong Allee effect.

In recent research, fear, refuge, and harvesting have been highlighted, but their combined impact must also be explored. We investigate the combined effects of these three ecologically important factors in the context of a prey–predator system using Holling type II as an interaction term. By using the parametric conditions, we can determine the existence of biologically feasible equilibria with their local and global stability. We investigate transcritical, Saddle‐node, Hopf, backward, Bogdanov–Takens bifurcations about different equilibria theoretically and numerically. We observe that the system is stable for lower and higher values of catchability effect and harvesting parameters. And the system shows stable behavior for a high value of fear and refuge parameters. Our model is extended by considering fear, refuge, and harvesting as time‐dependent parameters. Nonautonomous systems exhibit periodic solutions when the corresponding autonomous system is stable. Further, the nonautonomous system shows complex dynamics such as higher periods, chaos and bursting patterns whenever the associated autonomous system goes through limit cycle oscillations. Bifurcation of the local Gierer–Meinhardt model is analyzed in this paper. It is found that the degenerate Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation of codimension 3 exists in the model, except for the saddle-node bifurcation and the Hopf bifurcation. That was not reported in the literature about this model. The existence of equilibria, their stability, the bifurcation and the induced complicated and interesting dynamics are explored in detail, by using stability analysis, normal form method and bifurcation theory. The dynamical behavior of a variable recruitment SIR model has been investigated with the nonlinear incidence rate and the quadratic treatment function for a horizontally transmitted infectious disease that sustains for a long period (more than one year). For a long duration, we have incorporated human fertility in variable recruitment. The societal effort, i.e. all types of medical infrastructures, have a vital role in controlling such a disease. For this reason, we have considered the quadratic treatment function, which divides the system into two subsystems. We have established the existence and stability of different equilibrium points that depend mainly on the societal effort parameter in both subsystems and also global stability. Different rich dynamics such as forward bifurcation, Hopf bifurcation, limit cycle, and Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation of co-dimension 2 have been established by using bifurcation theory and the biological significance of these dynamics has been explained. Different numerical examples have been considered to illustrate the theoretical results. Biological control using natural enemies with additional food resources is one of the most adopted and ecofriendly pest control techniques. Moreover, additional food is also provided to natural enemies to divert them from cannibalism. In the present work, using the theory of dynamical system, we discuss the dynamics of a cannibalistic predator prey model in the presence of different harvesting schemes in prey (pest) population and provision of additional food to predators (natural enemies). A detailed mathematical analysis and numerical evaluations have been presented to discuss the pest free state, coexistence of species, stability, occurrence of different bifurcations (saddle-node, transcritical, Hopf, Bogdanov–Takens) and the impact of additional food and harvesting schemes on the dynamics of the system. It has been obtained that the multiple coexisting equilibria and their stability depend on the additional food (quality and quantity) and harvesting rates. Interestingly, we also observe that the pest population density decreases immediately even when small amount of harvesting is implemented. Also the eradication of pest population (stable pest free state) could be achieved via variation in the additional food and implemented harvesting schemes. The individual effects of harvesting parameters on the pest density suggest that the linear harvesting scheme is more effective to control the pest population rather than constant and nonlinear harvesting schemes. In the context of biological control programs, the present theoretical work suggests different threshold values of implemented harvesting and appropriate choices of additional food to be supplied for pest eradication. In this paper, we have conducted parametric analysis on the dynamics of satellite complex system using bifurcation theory. At first, five equilibrium points E0;1;2;3;4 are symbolically computed in which E1;3 and E2;4 are symmetric. Then, several theorems are stated and proved for the existence of B-T bifurcation on all equilibrium points with the aid of generalized eigenvectors and practical formulae instead of linearizations. In this paper, as a complement to the works by Monterio and Notargiacomo, we analyze the dynamical behavior of a learning-process model in a case where the system admits a unique interior degenerate equilibrium. Meanwhile, we acquire the sufficient condition for the cusp of codimension 2 and verify that the system undergoes Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation around the cusp. In this paper, we consider a modified Lasslie–Gower-type predator–prey model with the effect of hunting cooperation and favorable additional food for predator. We establish the conditions of positivity, boundedness, and permanence of solutions of the proposed model. Along with the trivial, predator free, prey free equilibrium points the system contains at most two coexistence equilibrium points. The system experiences the transcritical, saddle-node, Hopf, cusp, Bautin, and Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation depending on the model parameters. In this paper, we analyze the bifurcation of a Holling-Tanner predator-prey model with strong Allee effect. We confirm that the degenerate equilibrium of system can be a cusp of codimension 2 or 3. As the values of parameters vary, we show that some bifurcations will appear in system. By calculating the Lyapunov number, the system undergoes a subcritical Hopf bifurcation, supercritical Hopf bifurcation or degenerate Hopf bifurcation. We show that there exists bistable phenomena and two limit cycles. By verifying the transversality condition, we also prove that the system undergoes a Bogdanov-Takens bifurcation of codimension 2 or 3. The main conclusions of this paper complement and improve the previous paper [30]. Moreover, numerical simulations are given to verify the theoretical results.

This work investigates the bifurcation analysis in a discrete-time Leslie–Gower predator–prey model with constant yield predator harvesting. The stability analysis for the fixed points of the discretized model is shown briefly. In this study, the model undergoes codimension-1 bifurcation such as fold bifurcation (limit point), flip bifurcation (period-doubling) and Neimark–Sacker bifurcation at a positive fixed point. Further, the model exhibits codimension-2 bifurcations, including Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation and generalized flip bifurcation at the fixed point. For each bifurcation, by using the critical normal form coefficient method, various critical states are calculated. To validate our analytical findings, the bifurcation curves of fixed points are drawn by using MATCONTM. The system exhibits interesting rich dynamics including limit cycles and chaos. An SIRS epidemic model with a modified nonlinear incidence rate is studied, which describes that the infectivity is strong at first as the emergence of a new disease or the reemergence of an old disease, but then the psychological effect will weaken the infectivity. Lastly, the infectivity goes to a saturation state as a result of a crowding effect. The nonlinearity of the functional form of the incidence of infection is modified, which is more reasonable biologically. We analyze the stability of the associated equilibria, and the basic reproduction number and the critical value which determine the dynamics of the model are derived. The bifurcation analysis is presented, including backward bifurcation, saddle-node bifurcation, Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation of codimension two and Hopf bifurcation.
