The behavioral health workforce shortage is pervasive across the United States. To address this need, it is important to establish effective and culturally relevant trainings for behavioral health practitioners. This study examines the results of a Health Resource Service Administration (HRSA) Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training (BHWET) funded program intended to increase the qualified workforce meeting high need and demand. Over the four-year funding of the program, 119 Masters of Social Work students graduated from the social work program with specialized training. Google has recently introduced Google Co-op, a platform which is comprised of three different tools: custom search engine, subscribed links, and topics. The custom search engine and subscribed links features of Google Co-op are being used successfully by a variety of different businesses and libraries to help harness the power and size of the Web. Other organizations are contributing to specific search areas designed by Google using the topics feature. By examining the ways that such organizations are using Google Co-op and by demonstrating how to use custom search engines and topics, the article draws some conclusions about the potential usefulness of Google Co-op's features for libraries. doi: 10.1300/J111v46n03_12 KEYWORDS. Patients with Head and Neck Cancers (HNC) are a diverse group with complex educational and support needs. Literature suggests HNC patients often experience fragmented care. These patients would therefore benefit from standardized education to address disease-specific stressors including treatments, symptoms, speaking and swallowing difficulties, and nutrition which can affect quality of life. Treatments are often multidisciplinary and multimodal, adding to the potential for inconsistent education, misunderstanding of the education leading to confusion, and missed information. Given these complexities, literature suggests the majority of HNC patients prefer written information about their diagnosis and treatment. The HonorHealth Oncology Navigation (HON) team identified an education gap for this patient population. The HON team and our Oncology Certified Registered Dietician developed an evidence-based Head and Neck Cancer Education Guide. The development of standardized, comprehensive, and understandable written information removes potential barriers of inconsistent education or misunderstanding leading to patient confusion. The receipt of written information encourages patients to actively participate in their care. Across many studies, patients requested education and support for managing treatment-related side effects, maintaining health during treatment, and achieving a healthy lifestyle after treatment. The Head and Neck Cancer Education Guide focuses on disease-specific topics including treatment side effects management, nutrition goals and recipes, feeding tube guidelines, and survivorship recommendations. Written information reinforces verbal education provided during one-on-one consults. It also improves understanding and recall. The Oncology Nurse Navigation (ONN) team implemented a workflow to provide individualized educational counseling and standardized written information to newly diagnosed HNC patients with the goal of increasing the rate of ONN consults by 20%. Baseline data was collected between November 2019 and February 2020 for a subset of newly diagnosed HNC patients. Between March and May 2020, the HON team and Registered Dietician developed the educational guide and prioritized ONN consults for newly diagnosed patients. The post-intervention data was collected between June and October 2020. At baseline, 60% of HNC patients met with an ONN to review diagnosis, treatment, potential side effects, and nutritional support. Post-intervention, the rate was 100%. The HON team identified and closed education gaps for HNC patients. These efforts aligned evidence-based recommendations with internal processes which can improve patient care. Background: Head and neck cancers (HNCs) include a heterogeneous group of cancers.1 Due to the diversity and complexity of HNC and the respective treatments, patient care requires highly coordinated collaboration from a multidisciplinary team of specialists and specialized support services for optimal outcomes.2,3 Evidence suggests that communication gaps can occur between patients and providers, as well as among specialists. 4 These gaps may impede interdisciplinary collaboration and coordination that are crucial to HNC patient care. The HonorHealth Virginia G. Piper Cancer Care Network (VGPCCN) oncology nurse navigation (ONN) team identified gaps in care in the HNC population after collecting baseline data, including consultation rates; referral rates to nutrition, social work, and speech therapy; and timeliness to care. Objectives: To bridge gaps across the care continuum by prioritizing referrals to support services and timely education related to diagnosis, treatment, side effects, and nutritional support to enhance the quality of patient-centered HNC care.3 Methods: Due to the complex nature of patients with HNC, the ONN team and the registered dietitian developed a Head and Neck Cancer Education Guide. Along with the guide, our team implemented a bimonthly HNC huddle, which was designed to provide the required resources to our HNC patients in real time to improve timeliness to care. The ONN team also standardized the educational material provided to ensure the information given to patients was the same from each ONN. Results: Baseline data were collected between November 2019 and February 2020 for a subset of HNC patients. The ONN interventions began in March 2020 and were completed in May 2020. The postintervention data were collected from June 2020 through October 2020 for a similar-sized subset of HNC patients. Sixty percent of patients met with an ONN at baseline to review diagnosis, treatment, possible side effects, and nutritional support. Postintervention, the rate increased to 100%. Timely nutritional support is imperative to this population. Timeliness to care was calculated from the date of initial medical oncology consultation to ONN or nutrition consultation. The average number of days at baseline was 24; the average number of days postintervention decreased to 9. The involvement of specialized support services, including nutrition, social work, and speech therapy, is best practice for HNC patients. At baseline, the referral rate to nutrition was 40%; to social work, 20%; to speech therapy, 40%. Postintervention rates were 100%, 40%, and 80%, respectively. The rate of ONN or nutrition consults increased by 40%, and referral rates to nutrition, social work, and speech therapy all increased. Time to care from initial medical oncology consult to ONN or nutrition consult decreased by 62.5%. Conclusions: The HonorHealth VGPCCN ONN team prioritized closing gaps in the care of HNC patients. These efforts aligned evidence-based recommendations with internal processes, which improved patient care and quality of life for the HNC population. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

According to Abraham Maslow, human beings have 5 basic needs which motivate their behaviors. By understanding these 5 basic needs and the values which drive mal-adaptive behaviors, caregivers are able to effectively engage with individuals. The purpose of this session is to discuss these 5 basic needs and the 4 goals of mal-adaptive behavior. The article presents a comparison between print and electronic medium of writing. At a time hand written words were thought to be more valuable than printed ones. But these fears disappeared with time and printing revolution provided better ways to collect, organize, shelve and retrieve the material. The advent of the world wide web has changed the ways of dispensing and receiving information. In the publishing world electronic journals are representing this change. The electronic publishing also came with its advantages and disadvantages and is compared with its electronic counterpart. There is also an explanation of how libraries are getting influenced with this change in terms of its management and employees. A survey conducted among library employees shows that there has been much improvement in electronic journal publishing but there are many issues which are left unresolved. It also explains the complications involved in accessing the journals and the kind of people required by libraries to make the task easy.
