By one-to-two propensity score matching for age and sex, the control group of those not re-testing positive during the same period served as matched control.Results: A total of 223 patients were included in our study, 94 in re-positive group and 129 in non-re-positive group. The result shows that the rates of nasal douche treatment in the non-re-positive group were considerably higher than that of the re-positive group. And the Ct value of nasal douche group increased faster than that of non-nasal douche group after the Ct value reaching ≥ 35. Further analysis revealed that the higher the Ct value at the time of readmission, the shorter the time of average Ct values to reach ≥ 35.Conclusion: These findings suggest that nasal douche is beneficial to shorten the time of virus nucleic acid turning negative, thereby reducing the incidence of re-positive. Body parameters, such as body mass index and waist circumference, were measured. Fat distribution was evaluated using a computerized tomography scanner. The levels of serum estrogen, leptin, visfatin, and adiponectin were measured using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The expression of circulating ERs was evaluated by Western blot analysis.Results: Perimenopausal women and childbearing women with obesity exhibited lower levels of estrogen and adiponectin, in addition to a distribution of visceral fat with higher levels of leptin and visfatin. These findings reflect the current data of menopausal women, which confirms the reliability of this experimental system. However, the expression of ERα in peripheral blood was significantly enhanced in women with obesity of both childbearing and perimenopausal age. This result is contrary to the common understanding of adipose tissue, namely that ERα is protective. The expression of ERβ in the women without obesity of both childbearing and perimenopausal age was higher than in women with obesity, which coincides with the results of a previous study on adipose tissue.Conclusion: Our data fundamentally contradicts the utility of circulating ERα and ERα/ERβ evaluations in obesity studies. Because estrogen exerts pleiotropic effects on multiple tissues in the body through differential regulation of ERs, although the expression of ERβ coincides with the results of a previous study on adipose tissue, the expression levels of ERs in blood cannot be used as a diagnostic of informative tool for obesity in women.Keywords: estrogen receptors, obesity, estrogen, fat distribution, adipokines, perimenopause

However, health professionals often experience difficulty collaborating in practice because of their different educational backgrounds, ideas, and the roles of each profession. In this qualitative descriptive study, we reveal how to build interdisciplinary collaboration in multidisciplinary teams. Methods: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with a total of 26 medical professionals, including physicians, nurses, public health nurses, medical social workers, and clerical personnel. Each participant worked as a team member of community-based integrated care. The central topic of the interviews was what the participants needed to establish collaboration during the care of elderly residents. Each interview lasted for about 60 minutes. All the interviews were recorded, transcribed verbatim, and subjected to content analysis. Results: The analysis yielded the following three categories concerning the necessary elements of building collaboration: 1) two types of meeting configuration; 2) building good communication; and 3) effective leadership. The two meetings described in the first category – “community care meetings” and “individual care meetings” – were aimed at bringing together the disciplines and discussing individual cases, respectively. Building good communication referred to the activities that help professionals understand each other’s ideas and roles within community-based integrated care. Effective leadership referred to the presence of two distinctive human resources that could coordinate disciplines and move the team forward to achieve goals. Conclusion: Taken together, our results indicate that these three factors are important for establishing collaborative medical teams according to health professionals. Regular meetings and good communication facilitated by effective leadership can promote collaborative practice and mutual understanding between various professions. Recent advances have provided a link between epigenetic modification and the regulation of gene expression. 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5hmC) converted from 5-methylcytosine by the ten-eleven translocation (TET) family of proteins has emerged as a new epigenetic modification. While the dynamics of 5hmC during cerebral ischemia have recently been reported, whether 5hmC is involved in ICH remains unexplored. In this study, we investigated the effects of ICH on DNA hydroxymethylation. We showed that the global level of 5hmC rapidly decreased as early as 24 hours after ICH and persisted until 72 hours. Furthermore, the level of 5hmC in the CpG-rich regions of Akt2, Pdpk1 and Vegf genes was significantly decreased with a minimum level observed at 48 hours or 72 hours. Decreased 5hmC was observed in parallel with an increase in 5-methylcytosine over this time course, and mRNA levels of Akt2, Pdpk1 and Vegf were downregulated upon ICH injury. Finally, Tet1, Tet2 and Tet3 mRNA levels were dramatically decreased in the ICH brain. Our study for the first time established the correlation between DNA hydroxymethylation and ICH injury. Abstract

Here, we apply 20 MeV particle-induced X-ray emission (PIXE) to elemental analysis of microplastic samples with a diameter of approximately 2 mm, collected from the seashores of the northeastern area of Honshu in Japan. The samples were in a grain form with unwanted elements adhering to their surfaces. The PIXE measurements were conducted in a helium atmosphere. For normalization, the number of K X-rays of the residual gas argon was used instead of the directly measured beam irradiation, and the number of continuous X-rays in the PIXE spectrum was used instead of the mass of each sample. Thirteen elements were identified on the microplastics, among which were toxic chromium and lead. Thus, PIXE analysis is useful for analyzing microplastic samples. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

29. Measurement of the top quark pT distribution

Abstract

The first measurement of the true top quark PT distributon was carried out. An attempt was also made to compute a 95% confidence level upper limit on the fraction of top quarks that are produced with 225 > PT > 425 GeV/c. It was found that R4 > 0.16 at 95% C.L.

Abstract

We report on measurements of differential cross sections dsigma/dp(T) for prompt charm meson production in ppmacr; collisions at sqrt[s]=1.96 TeV using 5.8+/-0.3 pb(-1) of data from the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. The data are collected with a new trigger that is sensitive to the long lifetime of hadrons containing heavy flavor. The charm meson cross sections are measured in the central rapidity region |y|K-pi(+), D(*+)-->D0pi(+), D+-->K-pi(+)pi(+), D(+)(s)-->phipi(+), and their charge conjugates. The measured cross sections are compared to theoretical calculations.

31. Measurement of b-Quark Fragmentation Fractions in pp[over ¯] Collisions at sqrt[s]=1.8 TeV

Abstract

We have studied the production of B hadrons in 1.8-TeV pp[over ¯] collisions. We present measurements of the fragmentation fractions, f_{u}, f_{d}, f_{s}, and f_{baryon}, of produced b quarks that yield B^{+}, B^{0}, B_{s}^{0}, and Λ[over ¯]_{b}^{0} hadrons. Reconstruction of five electron-charm final states yields f_{s}/( f_{u}+f_{d})=0.213±0.068 and f_{baryon}/( f_{u}+f_{d})=0.118±0.042, assuming f_{u}=f_{d}. If all B hadrons produced in pp[over ¯] collisions cascade to one of these four hadrons, we determine f_{u}=f_{d}=0.375±0.023, f_{s}=0.160±0.044, and f_{baryon}=0.090±0.029. If we do not assume f_{u}=f_{d}, we find f_{d}/f_{u}=0.84±0.16.

Abstract

We report a measurement of the diffractive structure function F(D)(jj) of the antiproton obtained from a study of dijet events produced in association with a leading antiproton in pp collisions at sqrt[s] = 630 GeV at the Fermilab Tevatron. The ratio of F(D)(jj) at sqrt[s] = 630 GeV to F(D)(jj) obtained from a similar measurement at sqrt[s] = 1800 GeV is compared with expectations from QCD factorization and other theoretical predictions. We also report a measurement of the xi ( x-Pomeron) and beta ( x of parton in Pomeron) dependence of F(D)(jj) at sqrt[s] = 1800 GeV. In the region 0.035

We present searches for quark-lepton compositeness and a heavy W' boson at high electron-neutrino transverse mass. We use approximately 110 pb(-1) of data collected in p p macro collisions at square root of [s] = 1.8 TeV by the CDF Collaboration during 1992-1995. The data are consistent with standard model expectations. Limits are set on the quark-lepton compositeness scale Lambda, the ratio of partial cross sections sigma(W'-->enu)/sigma(W-->enu), and the mass of a W' boson with standard model couplings. The ratio of the branching fraction from particle collisions were measured. The data was recorded by the Collider Detector at fermilab during the Tevatron run. The measured values were in agreement with the standard model predictions. The measurements yielded a limit on the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa quark mixing matrix element.

35. Search for neutral supersymmetric Higgs bosons in pp̄ collisions at √s = 1.8 TeV

Abstract

Neutron Higgs bosons produced in association with `b' quarks were investigated. Experimental results showed that there was no evidence for the existence of such a signal. The data was interpreted using the Neutral Higgs sector of the supersymmetric extension of standard model. The lower mass limits for neutral Higgs bosons were derived for tanβ values in excess of 35.

36. Limits on light gravitino production and new processes with large missing transverse energy in pp̄ collisions at √s = 1.8 TeV

Abstract

Events collected by the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) with an energetic jet plus large missing transverse energy can be used to search for physics beyond the standard model. We see no deviations from the expected backgrounds and set upper limits on the production of new processes. We consider in addition the production of light gravitinos and set a limit at 95% confidence level on the breaking scale √F ≥ 217 GeV, which excludes gravitino masses smaller than 1.1 × 10-5 eV/c2. © 2000 The American Physical Society.

Abstract

We present results from a measurement of double diffraction dissociation in $\bar pp$ collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. The production cross section for events with a central pseudorapidity gap of width $\Delta\eta^0>3$ (overlapping $\eta=0$) is found to be $4.43\pm 0.02{(stat)}{\pm 1.18}{(syst) mb}$ [$3.42\pm 0.01{(stat)}{\pm 1.09}{(syst) mb}$] at $\sqrt{s}=1800$ [630] GeV. Our results are compared with previous measurements and with predictions based on Regge theory and factorization., Comment: 10 pages, 4 figures, using RevTeX. Submitted to Physical Review Letters

Abstract

We report on measurements of the branching ratios of the decays B +→χc10(1P)K+ and B + → J/ψK+ π+π-, where χc10(1P) → J/ψγ and J/ψ → μ+μ- in pp→ collisions at √s = 1.8 TeV. Using a data sample from an integrated luminosity of 110 pb-1 collected by the Collider Detector at Fermilab we measure the branching ratios to be BR(B+ → χc10(1P)K+) = 15.5±5.4(stat) ± 1.5(syst)± 1.3(br) × 10 -4 and BR(B+ →J/ψK+ π+ π-) = 6.9±1.8(stat)±1.1(syst)±0.4(br) × 10-4 where (br) is due to the finite precision on BR(B+ → J/ψK+), BR(χc10(1P) → J/ψγ) is used to normalize the signal yield, and (syst) encompasses all other systematic uncertainties. © 2002 The American Physical Society.

Abstract

We have measured the polarization of J/ψ and ψ(2S) mesons produced in pp̄ collisions at √s = 1.8 TeV, using data collected at the Collider Detector at Fermilab during 1992-1995. The polarization of promptly produced J/ψ [ψ(2S)] mesons is isolated from those produced in B-hadron decay, and measured over the kinematic range 4 [5.5] < PT < 20 GeV/c and |y| < 0.6. For PT ≳ 12 GeV/c we do not observe significant polarization in the prompt component. © 2000 The American Physical Society.

Abstract

We search for new particles that decay into bb̄ and are produced with W bosons in pp̄ collisions at √s = 1.8 TeV. The search uses 109 ± 7 pb-1 accumulated by the CDF experiment at Fermilab. We select events with an ev or μv, and two jets, one of them b tagged. The number of events and the two-jet mass distribution are consistent with expectations. Using W + Higgs production as a model for the acceptance, we set an upper limit on the production cross section times branching ratio for the new particle ranging from 14 to 19 pb (95% C.L.) as the particle mass varies from 70 to 120 GeV/c2.

Abstract

We report the results of a search for a W' boson produced in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.8 TeV using a 107 pb-1 data sample recorded by the Collider Detector at Fermilab. We consider the decay channel W'-->andmunumu and search for anomalous production of high transverse mass munumu lepton pairs. We observe no excess of events above background and set limits on the rate of W' boson production and decay relative to standard model W boson production and decay using a fit of the transverse mass distribution observed. If we assume standard model strength couplings of the W' boson to quark and lepton pairs, we exclude a W' boson with invariant mass less than 660 GeV/c2 at 95% confidence level.

Abstract

We report on a search for direct Kaluza-Klein graviton production in a data sample of 84 pb(-1) of ppmacr; collisions at sqrt[s]=1.8 TeV, recorded by the Collider Detector at Fermilab. We investigate the final state of large missing transverse energy and one or two high energy jets. We compare the data with the predictions from a (3+1+n)-dimensional Kaluza-Klein scenario in which gravity becomes strong at the TeV scale. At 95% confidence level (C.L.) for n=2, 4, and 6 we exclude an effective Planck scale below 1.0, 0.77, and 0.71 TeV, respectively.

Abstract

We present the first measurement of the ratio of branching fractions R identical withB(t-->Wb)/B(t-->Wq) from p_p collisions at sqrt[s] = 1.8 TeV. The data set corresponds to 109 pb(-1) of data recorded by the Collider Detector at Fermilab during the 1992-95 Tevatron run. We measure R = 0.94(+0.31)(-0.24)(stat+syst) or R>0.61 (0.56) at 90% (95)% C.L., in agreement with the standard model predictions. This measurement yields a limit on the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa quark mixing matrix element /V(tb)/ under the assumption of three generations and unitarity.

Abstract

We present a measurement of the B0 ↔ B̄0 oscillalion frequency using a flavor tagging method based on correlations of B meson flavor with the charge of other particles produced in pp̄ collisions at √s = 1.8 TeV. Such correlations are expected to arise from b quark hudronization and from B** decays. We partially reconstruct B mesons using the semileptonic decays B0 → D(*)-X and B+ rarr; -D̄0X. From the oscillation frequency, we obtain the mass difference between the two B0 mass eigenstates. Δmd = 0.471 -0.068+0.078(stat) ± 0.034(syst)ℏ ps-1, and measure the efficiency and purity of this flavor tagging method for both charged and neutral B mesons.

Abstract

We report a measurement of the ratio of the bottom quark production cross section in antiproton-proton collisions at √s = 630 GeV to 1800 GeV using bottom quarks with transverse momenta greater than 10.75 GeV identified through their semileptonic decays and long lifetimes. The measured ratio σ(630)/σ(1800) = 0.171±.024±.012 is in good agreement with next-to-leading order quantum chromodynamics. © 2002 The American Physical Society.

Abstract

The study of the decays B0 → J/ψK(*)0 π+π-, was reported. The study involved the creation of a uū or dd̄ quark pair in addition to a b̄ → c̄(cs̄) decay. Three-level dimuon trigger was used in the analysis. Events with two separate sets of atleast three linked hits in the muon chambers. The second level required drift chamber tracks with pT > 2.0 GeV/c. J/ψ → μ+μ- candidates, were accepted in the third level, with a reconstructed invariant mass between 2.8 and 3.8 GeV/c2.

Abstract

We present the results of a search in pp collisions at √s = 1.8 TeV for anomalous production of events containing a photon with large transverse energy and a lepton (e or μ) with large transverse energy, using 86 pb-1 of data collected with the Collider Detector at Fermilab during the 1994-1995 collider run at the Fermilab Tevatron. The presence of large missing transverse energy (ET), additional photons, or additional leptons in these events is also analyzed. The results are consistent with standard model expectations, with the possible exception of photon-lepton events with large ET, for which the observed total is 16 events and the expected mean total is 7.6±0.7 events.

50. Momentum distribution of charged particles in jets in dijet events in p(p)over-bar collisions at root s=1.8 TeV and comparisons to perturbative QCD predictions

Abstract

Inclusive momentum distributions of charged particles in restricted cones around jet axes were measured in dijet events with invariant dijet masses in the range 80 to 600 GeV/c2. Events were produced at the Fermilab Tevatron in pp̄ collisions with a center of mass energy of 1.8 TeV and recorded by the Collider Detector at Fermilab. The results were compared to perturbative QCD calculations carried out in the framework of the modified leading log approximation (MLLA) and assuming local parton-hadron duality. It was shown that the data follow theoretical predictions quite well over the whole range of the jet energies included in this analysis. We extracted the MLLA cutoff scale Qeff and found a value of 230±40 MeV. The theoretical prediction of Ejetsin θc scaling, where θc is the cone opening angle, was experimentally observed for the first time. From the MLLA fits to the data, two more parameters were extracted: the ratio of parton multiplicities in gluon and quark jets, r=N partonsg-jet/Npartonsq-jet = 1.9± and the ratio of the number of charged hadrons to the number of predicted partons in a jet,KLPHDcharged = N hardonscharged/Npartons = 0.56±0.01. © 2003 The American Physical Society.
