Character education is urgent in passing down the ethical and moral values in the cultured community life. The local cultural values are a source of ethics and moral education for elementary school students. The school keeps taking an essential role in cultivating the local values through online character education during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aimed to analyze the effect of implementing online integrated character education and parental engagement in local cultural values cultivation outcome. The method of this study used an exploratory sequential mixed method design. Collect qualitative data using interview forms, observation, documentation, and quantitative data using questionnaires and portfolios. Qualitative data interpretation used content analysis, and inferential analysis used multiple linear regression. Results revealed that parental engagement, teachers' performance, and online learning obstacles affect local cultural values cultivation outcome in character education partially and simultaneously for sixth-grade students in Padang City. We suggested teachers improve character education management based on local cultural values by building good synergy and collaboration between them and parents to cultivate noble character behavior among students.

The quality of the education system is the foremost factor for the success of the students as well as the academia at large, and therefore, needs the focus of regulators and researchers alike. The current article investigates into the role of human resource (HR) quality and Kaizen on the quality assurance system in the context of the high school environment in Indonesia. The current research also analyzes the moderating role of national higher education policies among the associations of HR quality, Kaizen and the quality assurance system in the high school environment in Indonesia. The primary sources of data collection have been adopted by the researchers using survey questionnaires. The medical students are the respondents targeted by the researchers selected based on purposive sampling. The researchers have adopted primary data analysis tools such as Smart-PLS to test the hypotheses and check the validity and reliability of the items and constructs. The findings indicated that HR quality and Kaizen have a positive association with quality assurance systems within the high school environment in Indonesia. The outcomes also revealed that national higher education policies significantly moderate among the association of HR quality, Kaizen and quality assurance system in the high school environment in Indonesia. These outcomes provide valuable insights for policymaking regarding assessment and improvement of the quality assurance system in the education sector in the country.

Purpose: This study aims (1) to determine the ORS principals' excellence leadership factors in the digital age, (2) to explain the most dominant excellent leadership factor of the principals in the digital era, and (3) to determine the level of tendencies of each of the principals' excellent leadership strategies in the digital age. Research Methods: A quantitative approach is used in this research. This study's respondents were 147 school principals, teachers, school committees, supervisors, and education personnel in three districts and two provinces in Indonesia. The data analysis used was a factor and descriptive analysis. Findings: The results showed that (1) the excellence principal's leadership factors in the digital age were spiritual leadership, transformational leadership, instructional leadership, and entrepreneurial leadership, where spiritual leadership was the most dominant factor; and (2) The level of influence of each of these factors, from the highest, includes spiritual leadership, transformational leadership, instructional leadership, and entrepreneurial leadership. Implications for Research and Practice: The study's main findings indicate that spiritual leadership is the most determining factor in ORS principals' success in a rural area. The implication is that principals in rural areas should consider integrating spiritual leadership values in improving the schools' quality, especially in the digital age context.

The policy of developing remote area schools' quality in Indonesia is getting stronger. The government has set minimum service standards as a reference for schools' development quality while remaining based on local, national, global, and 21st-century values. This study revealed efforts to improve the 21st-century school's quality through the contribution of superior leadership, school climate, total quality management implementation, and the school principal's performance approached quantitatively and analyzed descriptively using Structural Equation Modeling. Participants involved in the study were 147 remote area principals and teachers in two provinces in Indonesia. Results show that (1) school climate had the most dominant contribution to school quality and (2) there was a significant simultaneous effect among superior leadership, school climate, total quality management implementation, and the school principal's performance on the school quality. Implications of the study's findings from a theoretical and practical lens as well as recommendations for future studies are also discussed.

This research has the purpose to explore implementation contextual character education in Senior High School in Buli village, East Halmahera Regency, Eastern Indonesia, and Remote Indigenous Community (RIC) role in addressing student behavior to improve education quality in that area. Sources of data from this qualitative research are teachers, students, village leader, and religious leaders. Focuses of the research are: (1) socioeconomic conditions in families who live in the remote areas regarding adolescent character; (2) the influence of mobile phones and the internet; (3) the role of the customary leader in the control of norms in adolescents; and (4) good habits in schools as an effort to implement the character education program of adolescents in schools. The results of this study showed that: (1) the economic condition of the family causes the child does not get the quality of attention and quality of time. Parents are preoccupied with working to sustain life, so schools are considered a burden because of school fees; (2) social media causes everyone to access all information in their own way and the lack of social control causes the use of social media to influence the pattern of relations and communication patterns; (3) the role of RIC can be optimal if supported by members who have better education, and awareness to promote education in their village; and (4) good habituation can arise if the school implements positive discipline and commitment to carry out character education in accordance with local wisdom and local culture.

Early age is a "golden moment" which will not be repeated in the period of child development. A rare opportunity must be utilized to provide the best education and care in three centers, namely; school, family and community environment. The purpose of this research is to; 1) Describe the contribution of parenting education management; and 2) Describe the practice of parenting education in three education centers. This research method uses a qualitative approach with a multi-case study design. These informants were teachers, principals, and parents of students from the two Early Childhood Education institutions in the West Nusa Tenggara Province, Indonesia. Data collection is done by in-depth interviews with informants, participatory observation, and documentation review. The results revealed that; 1) a positive contribution to the management of education and parenting in three education centers with the following stages; first, Plan-collaboration in designing the parenting education program; second, Do-collaboration in the parenting education program at school and inactivating it in the family and community environment, and third, Check-control and evaluate program achievements, then make a follow-up plan for the program; 2) Implementation, in; "first"-family environment strengthens the relationship between mother and child, the growing sense of self-confidence of parents in educating and caring for their children; "second" kindergartens environment by holding parenting education activities, holding days of child development consultations, building relationships, support and trust in schools; and "third"-community environment is the application of local wisdom values by community members.

Preschool Children are children who still need examples and direction in carrying out daily activities. Considering that ages 5-6 years interact more with the environment around them. One of the PERSIJU activities (Friday Half Day Camping) which is routinely held every 2 weeks. Persiju is an activity that gives children freedom to interact, practice socializing and practice independence and solidarity with their friends. The aim of this research is to train children's independence, socialization and hone the social skills of children aged 5-6 years as well as supporting and inhibiting factors. The research method used is qualitative. Data collection techniques are observation, interviews with supervisors, school principals and class teachers and documentation. The results of the research show that children are very enthusiastic about taking part in Persiju activities held at school, children actively participate in a series of Persiju game activities both independently and in groups which are carried out outside the classroom with the teacher. The role and support or permission of parents is one of the supporting factors in training independence, as well as honing the social skills of children aged 5-6 years, social skills that appear to include conversation, mutual understanding, cooperation, openness, empathy, motivation, positive feelings and feelings of equality. This research aims at describing parents participation in improving the quality of education of elementary schools viewed from the school substance and management. This is a qualitative research using phenomenology approach. The research design employed is comparative multicase involving four elementary schools in Malang city, East java, Indonesia. The choice on the researched schools are based on the recommendation from education office with regard to the school quality. The data collection is done by using in-depth interviews, observation, and document related to the parents participation in improving the quality of elementary school education. The analysis is conducted using flow model involving the stage of individual case analysis using flow model, which is then continued to cross cases data analysis which is done simultaneously. The result of data analysis found that parents participation in improving the quality of education of elementary schools is manifested in the aspects of learning, students affair, facilities and infrastructure, public relations, educational finance, and school personnel.

This study aimed at finding an effective leadership strategy carried out by one-roof school principals in remote areas. This study was conducted qualitatively with a multi-site approach. The data were obtained from the school principals as key informants and focus group discussion (FGD) involving all school principals, Indonesian Institute of Education Innovation Training and Consultant (LPKIPI), education staff, school supervisors, and stakeholders as the participants and resource persons. Findings suggested that (a) the problems encountered by one-roof school principals in the remote areas were significantly related to culture, economy, demography, geography, and historical aspects, (b) the characteristics of success of school principals in remote areas include a clear vision, high-spirit performance, "andhab asor" (low profile), active involvement in various social activities, strong motivation for continuous learning, open to feedback, having commitment to cooperate with various parties, having a high awareness that school is an educational system and the essential part from the social system in general, persistent, high confidence that they are not alone in carrying out school policies, creative, able to see the context in various perspectives, patient, polite, warm, and smart or attractive, (c) "Gethok Tular" is the most effective leadership strategy to strengthen the role of multi-stakeholder forum (MSF), and (d) the involvement of MSF members needs to be done selectively and effectively through the identification of TKU, intensive communication with TKU, identification of other figures, discussions, and sharing roles and strengthening MSF on an ongoing basis.

This study aimed to describe "nyantri" (Islamic crash course) program as a leadership strategy adopted by school principals in strengthening the school organizational culture. This study used a qualitative approach via theoretical phenomenology orientation and a multicase design. The data collection was done through observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews. The validity of the data was measured by data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of this study found three models of Islamic crash course performed: "tashih," that is, "Al-Qur'an" reading competence, "taushiyah" (Islamic lecture) of leadership values, and apprenticeship for the application of a "santri"'s (Islamic crash course student) character values. The benefits for the teachers are the preservation of their "Al-Qur'an" reading competence and the improved intensity of the leadership and application of Islamic values, which form the school organizational culture. An integration of values rooted from the three models into the institutional vision could strengthen the school organizational culture to improve school achievement.

This study aimed to analyze in depth and objectively the quality of modern management of leaders and leadership in religious-based higher education in Indonesia to find a model for higher education quality improvement. This research was based on a qualitative approach known as phenomenology. Data collection was carried out through participant observation by interview and document study. Data analysis and interpretation showed that: (1) The main problem was poor management quality; (2) Weak management quality was caused by nerveless leaders and leadership. Purpose - This study aims to investigate the positive impact of the parent gathering program implemented at TKIT Baitul Izzah Nganjuk on building children's religious character. The motivation for this study stems from the prevalent crisis in the country involving children, characterized by increasing violence, crime, and poor habits. Addressing these issues, the study explores the necessity of implementing a collaborative program between schools and parents to foster children's religious character. Design/methods/approach - The study was conducted at TKIT Baitul Izzah Nganjuk using a qualitative research method presented in a narrative format. Data collection comprised observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was performed using the Miles and Huberman model. Findings - The study revealed that the parent gathering program included three main components: workshops, socialization, and evaluation. The religious character education implemented encompassed routine activities, periodic activities, and teaching and learning activities. The program's benefits were observed in shaping effective parenting patterns and fostering in children an awareness of worship, faith, and good behavior. Research implications/limitations - This research recognizes its scope limitations, focusing solely on the parent gathering program for new students. Practical implications - The findings indicate that the parent gathering program is a valuable tool for building the religious character of early childhood, necessitating cooperation between the school and parents. Purpose: Burnout is a condition of psychological pressure experienced by private teachers in Indonesia. In dealing with such problems, the role of the principal as a leader is very important for organizing human resources, in this case, teachers, so that they can minimize burnout. This study aims to find out the effect of transformational and instructional leadership on private teachers facing burnout in Indonesia. Method: A quantitative descriptive-correlational research method was used in this study. The research sample comprised 560 private teachers spread across several provinces in Indonesia. The data collection instruments were the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ), the Principal Instructional Management Rating Scale (PIMRS), and the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Educators Survey (MBI-ES). Descriptive data processing and hypothesis testing was carried out with SPSS application version 26.0. Findings: Based on the results of hypothesis testing, it was revealed that the principal's transformational leadership had a negative and significant effect on teachers' burnout. The principal's instructional leadership also had a negative and significant effect on teachers' burnout. Furthermore, the application of these two leadership models together (simultaneously) can reduce teacher burnout. Implications for Research and Practice: We recommend that school principals both in state schools and also in private schools should carry out the transformational and instructional leadership models to boost the teacher performance and decrease the burnout. In addition, it was also felt that stress behavior, emotional exhaustion and burnout are very serious problems experienced by teachers so that further research can apply other leadership style approaches to overcome this problem. Information and communication technology has been widely used in educational activities, not only in the learning process but also in the teachers' professional development programs. One of the most popular applied supervision techniques is teacher collegial discussion. Students' learning outcomes are largely determined by the quality of the teacher's instructional process, and the quality of the teacher's instructional process is influenced by the effectiveness of supervision. However, there has not been much research on its effectiveness in development programs and their effects on student learning outcomes. This study aimed at examining the effectiveness of utilizing ICT in collegial discussions as an instructional supervision technique for the teachers' teaching process and students' learning outcomes. This research was conducted in the District and Malang City with a sample of 787 junior high school teachers selected randomly from 20 schools. The study used a descriptive correlational research design, and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) is applied to deal with its data analysis. The results showed that collegial discussion as an instructional supervision technique affected the quality of a teachers' instructional process. Implementation of ICT in collegial discussions had an effect and a higher coefficient value than the collegial discussions. The utilization of ICT in collegial discussions also affects the intensity of the utilization of ICT in teachers' instructional processes. Quality of teaching and the utilization of ICT in a teachers' instructional process had significant effects on student learning outcomes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aimed to portray the process of applying local cultural moral values (LCMV) that have not been prioritized by the Indonesian Ministry of Education, as the values of the main character standards in schools. In addition, principals' transformational leadership behavior (TLB) is described based on the local culture teaching dimension approach. This research used a qualitative approach with the case study design. To achieve the research objectives, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. Data analysis used a modified analytic analysis method. Data validity was drawn on credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability. The results of the study demonstrated that LCMV supports strengthening the character of students, and the application of TLB based on the local culture teaching dimension approach is severely effective in optimizing the implementation of character education strengthening programs (CESP). This research was conducted in 2018-2019 at the State Junior High School in the West Flores region, Indonesia. The results of this research will be recommended to the Indonesian Ministry of Education, to use LCMV as a standard character value in schools and provide opportunities for principals in each school to implement a leadership model based on local culture approaches. This study aims to describe the use of conventional communication technology as an effective leadership strategy carried out by principals at one-roof school in remote areas of Indonesia in accordance with the problems met and the local wisdom developed in the area. The study was conducted qualitatively with a multi-site approach. Data were obtained through unstructured interviews with principals, teachers, supervisors, community leaders, education offices. All information was tested for credibility and validity in triangulation through various Forum Group Discussion. The results obtained include 1) there are three dominant problems in the remote schools, namely historical, cultural, and demographical complexities, 2) the success of the principal is influenced by the expertise of the principal in utilizing conventional communication technology in the form of direct face-to-face communication, and 3) the use of face-to-face conventional communication technology as a leadership strategy applied by principals can increase the role of multi-stakeholders in enhancing school quality.
