Three‐dimensional reflection seismic data from the Neves‐Corvo area, southern Portugal, were reprocessed with the main objective of improving the seismic signature of the Lombador and Semblana volcanogenic massive sulphide deposits. The sensitivity for choosing adequate parameters for targeted imaging, even during the pre‐processing stage, such as common‐depth point binning size, was studied in detail before the main processing work began helping to optimize bin size parameters; preliminary stacking results from this analysis presented severe acquisition footprint, and seismic targets were not clearly identifiable. Processing results using pre‐stack dip move‐out and post‐stack migration methods show strong moderate to steeply dipping reflections. Several of the observed reflections can be correlated with known lithological contacts, some of which are interpreted to originate from the Semblana and Lombador deposits. Despite the mixed signal‐to‐noise ratio, the seismic cube reveals both shallow and deep three‐dimensional structures, allowing to account for the deposits' lateral extension beyond the capabilities of two‐dimensional seismic imaging alone. Given the data processing approach taken it was possible to distinguish strong diffraction patterns, interpreted as originating from faults and edges of the Lombador deposit, illustrating the usefulness of diffraction patterns for better interpretation of geological features in hard‐rock environments. Topographic maps are widely used to provide geospatial information on digital environments, and the principles of cartographic communication positively impact its design. This paper proposes new road and building symbols in mapping Brazilian urban areas, aiming to increase the effectiveness of map-reading tasks (MRTs) in a multi-scale context. For this purpose, colour theory and semiotics were applied to develop new symbols and a remote test through an adapted think-aloud protocol. We show that a sectional-hyperbolic attracting set for a Hölder- $C^{1}$ vector field admits finitely many physical/SRB measures whose ergodic basins cover Lebesgue almost all points of the basin of topological attraction. In addition, these physical measures depend continuously on the flow in the $C^{1}$ topology, that is, sectional-hyperbolic attracting sets are statistically stable. To prove these results we show that each central-unstable disk in a neighborhood of this class of attracting sets is eventually expanded to contain a ball whose inner radius is uniformly bounded away from zero. Geographic information is commonly disseminated and consumed through visual representations of features and their environmental context on maps. Using collaboration and interactive work to develop symbols for cartographic design (Robinson et al., 2012) is an innovative way to find symbols suitable for detecting, discriminating and recognising map features. Research in Cartography comprises several methods and theories to pursue map communication through understanding cognition (Montello, 2002). Such search comes from the realisation that users' perceptual and cognitive abilities are essential for understanding maps (Stigmar & Harrie, 2011). Thus, to develop semantically more suitable symbols for understanding a group of users, it is required to consider cultural characteristics, as they will assist in navigation tasks and increase the accessibility of maps (Korpi & Ahonen-Rainio, 2010). According to (Robinson et al., 2011), current methods for developing map symbols typically feature multiple phases, including collecting existing symbols, defining features to be symbolised, and evaluating the resulting symbol produced.In this research, we involve groups of users in activities to collect the visual understanding of concepts represented by point and area symbols in topographic maps. Based on the study of patterns common to the outcomes, with support from Gestalt laws and semiotic theory, it is possible to develop groups of symbols connected through shared meaning elements to be tested in subsequent phases. Thus, we sought to define symbols developed for Brazilian users, suitable for the multi-scale representation and focused on user experience. The first experiment was carried out with individuals with diverse professional backgrounds. It was carried out remotely in early 2020, during the social isolation period of the COVID-19 pandemic. This activity aimed to develop new pictorial symbols for commercial buildings, public buildings, cultural spaces, bandstands, and cinemas in 1:2000 maps. In a previous phase, the symbols proposed by the cartographers alone did not pass the intended recognition threshold. Therefore, the five concept's meanings were presented to the volunteers, and they had to draw a symbol of what this concept would represent according to their understanding. Nine volunteers participated, so each provided drawings for all proposed concepts. Then, we observed which elements were common in the draw's variations and drew a new pictorial symbol using the common elements. Table 1 shows an example of drawings made by the volunteers. Finally, the proposed symbols were tested in another study with 80 users and were mainly approved. A new experiment was conducted in late 2021, also remotely. This task aimed to design a supplementary group of pictorial symbols, this time for a coastal region. Again, the volunteers were presented with semantic concepts to be represented in 1:2000 and smaller-scale maps. They designed the symbols according to their comprehension. Twenty-one volunteers participated in this experiment, with each concept's corresponding set of visual interpretations. These new symbols will still undergo comprehension testing in the second half of 2022. In figure 1, we have the example of the user proposals for the Marina feature and the derived symbol options. In addition to experiments with pictorial symbology, our group also applied the collaborative design in a study about colours. In this study, we seek to understand how users of topographic maps associate different Brazilian vegetation classes through colours. According to Grassi (2021), topographic map symbols must be consistent with the local landscape based on cartographic principles. Readers' preference for landscape can influence their preference for different map designs (Grassi, 2021; Raposo and Brewer, 2014; Dearden, 1984).In this task, from researching colour characteristics of each land use and occupation class in official maps, satellite images or from characteristics present in popular entertainment games, the participants should suggest one to three colours for each class through their perceptions. The volunteers should indicate these colours through the parameters of Munsell's system. They also coloured blank maps with the suggested colours. The goal was to understand users' perceptions regarding the semantics of colours for classes in several Brazilian biomes. It was possible to observe the range of values in the perception for classes with more complex definitions as mangrove, cultivation and cultivated vegetation. Classes with definitions more common to users had closer values. Thus, it is expected that the subsequent study, with a greater number of users, will allow a deeper cognitive understanding to define, in the colour system, a range of colour values that improves the user's perception, considering cultural differences and accessibility issues. With the insertion of this step of collaborative creation of symbols in the procedures of tests of perception and cognition of maps, we realised that it is possible to involve the user from the beginning of the process, promoting a broader vision of the concepts and their representations than just the singular vision of the cartographer. Thus, we noticed a clear improvement in understanding symbols with larger groups in the tests already carried out. Another advantage is the possibility of carrying out these activities online with groups from different regions and backgrounds, thus expanding the universal character of the application of reference maps, especially in the case of large and diverse countries such as Brazil. Seismic methods are becoming an established choice for deep mineral exploration after being extensively tested and employed for the past two decades. To investigate whether the early European mineral‐exploration datasets had potential for seismic imaging that was overlooked, we recovered a low‐fold legacy seismic dataset from the Neves–Corvo mine site in the Iberian Pyrite Belt in southern Portugal. This dataset comprises six 4–6 km long profiles acquired in 1996 for deep targeting. Using today's industry‐scale processing algorithms, the world‐class, ca. 150 Mt, Lombador massive sulphide and other smaller deposits were better imaged. Additionally, we also reveal a number of shallow but steeply dipping reflections that were absent in the original processing results. This study highlights that legacy seismic data are valuable and should be revisited regularly to take advantage of new processing algorithms and the experiences gained from processing such data in hard‐rock environments elsewhere. Remembering that an initial processing job in hard rock should always aim to first obtain an overall image of the subsurface and make reflections visible, and then subsequent goals of the workflow could be set to, for example understanding relative amplitude ratios. The imaging of the known mineralization implies that this survey could likely have been among one of the pioneer studies in the world that demonstrated the capability of directly imaging massive sulphide deposits using the seismic method. We obtain stochastic stability of C2 non-uniformly expanding one-dimensional endomorphisms, requiring only that the first hyperbolic time map be Lp-integrable for p > 3. We show that, under this condition (which depends only on the unperturbed dynamics), we can construct a random perturbation that preserves the original hyperbolic times of the unperturbed map and, therefore, to obtain non-uniform expansion for random orbits. This ensures that the first hyperbolic time map is uniformly integrable for all small enough noise levels, which is known to imply stochastic stability. The method enables us to obtain stochastic stability for a class of maps with infinitely many critical points. We comment on the mathematical results about the statistical behavior of Lorenz equations and its attractor, and more generally on the class of singular hyperbolic systems. The mathematical theory of such kind of systems turned out to be surprisingly difficult. It is remarkable that a rigorous proof of the existence of the Lorenz attractor was presented only around the year 2000 with a computer-assisted proof together with an extension of the hyperbolic theory developed to encompass attractors robustly containing equilibria. We present some of the main results on the statistical behavior of such systems. We show that for attractors of three-dimensional flows, robust chaotic behavior is equivalent to the existence of certain hyperbolic structures, known as singular-hyperbolicity. These structures, in turn, are associated with the existence of physical measures: in low dimensions, robust chaotic behavior for flows ensures the existence of a physical measure. We then give more details on recent results on the dynamics of singular-hyperbolic (Lorenz-like) attractors: (1) there exists an invariant foliation whose leaves are forward contracted by the flow (and further properties which are useful to understand the statistical properties of the dynamics); (2) there exists a positive Lyapunov exponent at every orbit; (3) there is a unique physical measure whose support is the whole attractor and which is the equilibrium state with respect to the center-unstable Jacobian; (4) this measure is exact dimensional; (5) the induced measure on a suitable family of cross-sections has exponential decay of correlations for Lipschitz observables with respect to a suitable Poincaré return time map; (6) the hitting time associated to Lorenz-like attractors satisfy a logarithm law; (7) the geometric Lorenz flow satisfies the Almost Sure Invariance Principle (ASIP) and the Central Limit Theorem (CLT); (8) the rate of decay of large deviations for the volume measure on the ergodic basin of a geometric Lorenz attractor is exponential; (9) a class of geometric Lorenz flows exhibits robust exponential decay of correlations; (10) all geometric Lorenz flows are rapidly mixing and their time-1 map satisfies both ASIP and CLT. Abstract: Strong evidence indicates that reactive oxygen species (ROS) play an important role in the initiation as well as the promotion phase of carcinogenesis. Studies support the role of ROS in cancer, in part, by showing that dietary antioxidants act as cancer-preventive agents. Although results are promising, the research on this topic is still controversial. Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate whether vitamins C, E and pequi oil can, individually, provide prevention and/or be used afterward as an adjuvant in cancer therapy. Ehrlich solid tumor-bearing mice received antioxidant as follows: before tumor inoculation, before and after tumor inoculation (continuous administration), and after tumor inoculation; morphometric analyses of tumor, genotoxicity and hematology were then carried out. Antioxidant administrations before tumor inoculation effectively inhibited its growth in the three experimental protocols, but administrations after the tumor''s appearance accelerated tumor growth and favored metastases. Continuous administration of pequi oil inhibited the tumor''s growth, while the same protocol with vitamins E and C accelerated it, favoring metastasis and increasing oxidative stress on erythrocytes. Except for continuous administration with vitamin E, the development of ascites tumor metastases was linked with increased inflammation. Results suggest that the efficiency and applicability of antioxidants in the medical clinic can depend not only on the nature of the antioxidant, the type and stage of cancer being treated and the prevailing oxygen partial pressure in the tissues, but also on the type of antioxidant therapy chosen. Introduction: Recent changes in labor relations and the employment market in university education have posed significant challenges and increased workloads for faculty a situation that has been exacerbated by the global epidemiological status in 2020., Objectives: To investigate the presence of mental disorders and associated factors in faculty members at a private university in São Paulo, Brazil., Methods: This is a quantitative, descriptive, exploratory cross-sectional study conducted in June 2021, using online questionnaires to collect social and demographic and lifestyle data, namely, Self-Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ-20) and the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9). The presence of associations between variables was investigated using odds ratio and relative risk., Results: Participants included 49 professors, mostly women, aged between 29-78. Among the subjects, 61.2% had a body mass index above the recommended level and 40.8% were considered sedentary. A chronic illness was reported by 40.8% and 65.3% reported continued-use medication. A common mental disorder was reported by 28.5%, and the same prevalence was found for depression, with a positive association with being considered sedentary, overweight or obese, drinking alcohol at least once a week, and having worked as a professor for less than 5 years., Conclusions: The study showed a significant level of emotional distress among professors, associated with lifestyle habits that can compromise their quality of life and professional performance., Competing Interests: Conflicts of interest: None
