What should professional development of knowledge and skills of academic sport scientists look like? We address this question by first dwelling in what 'being a professional academic' entails. Professionals work methodically, typically specialising their knowledge and skills while strategically planning how to progress their careers, often not rocking the boat of the academic discipline they call home. To gain promotion, they expertly work within predetermined disciplinary boundaries, and are typically adjudged on objectified metrics that demonstrate a 'track record' in meeting professional standards, closely linked to university performance measures. Disciplinisation and performance evaluation becomes an issue, though, when rules, regulations and conventions prevent academics from exploring beyond their disciplinary walls, instead being lulled into "playing the game." The amateur, in contrast, typically studies for the love of it, enthusiastically embodying their interest as a way of life, maintaining the highest standards of knowing-in-becoming. This passionate exploration is not limited by disciplinary conventions or performance metrics, but by how far they wish to roam through boundaries of knowing. They are, in other words, a "wayfinder," making their way through life by corresponding with what holds their interest as they go. Never neglecting the "ethos of amateurism," we contend its potential value for professional development of academic sport scientists, embracing -- and perhaps even rekindling -- a love of continued learning with and from those we encounter.

Os anos 1970 e 1980, no Brasil, foram marcados pelo processo de abertura política e redemocratização. Neste mesmo período, uma eloquente produção de música experimental, alternativa e independente surgia com considerável força local, a chamada “Vanguarda Paulista”. O objetivo deste artigo é demonstrar que os espaços da música popular já estavam controlados pelas gravadoras multinacionais e o poder ideológico das canções havia sido neutralizado pela lógica da indústria cultural. Para tanto, utilizam-se os conceitos de “táticas cotidianas”, de Michel de Certeau; e de “Música de Invenção”, de Augusto de Campos, para analisar o desafio da Vanguarda Paulista em conseguir seu lugar à margem do espectro do mercado fonográfico, e atingir o grande público com a maior liberdade criativa possível. Neste contexto, o artigo seleciona os grupos musicais Rumo, Língua de Trapo e Premeditando o Breque (Premê), analisando canções que abordam temáticas relacionadas ao momento sociopolítico, utilizando autores como Marcos Napolitano, José Adriano Fenerick, Éder Sader e outros, que discutiram sobre este processo de abertura e suas implicações no âmbito cultural. Algumas conclusões parciais apontam que essas canções da Vanguarda Paulista formam bricolagens de estilos e gêneros musicais; e que podem ser ouvidas como relatos cotidianos de um determinado espaço temporal e físico.

Introdução/Objetivo: Pacientes vivendo com HIV (PVH) atualmente atravessam um cenário terapêutico mais favorável a supressão virológica adequada com medicamentos menos tóxicos e mais bem tolerados. Porém, a recuperação imunológica e a inflamação causada pelo vírus podem contribuir para o aumento das comorbidades e envelhecimento. O objetivo deste estudo foi analisar a relação entre a bioimpedância e as alterações metabólicas em pacientes vivendo com HIV acompanhados em uma clínica escola de medicina. Métodos: Avaliação de pacientes por demanda espontânea que forama a consulta ambulatorial e concordaram em realizar bioimpedância, avaliação de força com dinamômetro e ECG rápido com o Kardia. Resultados: Foram avaliados 63 pacientes, sendo 85,7% do sexo masculino, com média de idade de 41 anos. Houve correlação estatisticamente significante entre carga viral detectada e CD4 500 cels/mm3 e percentual de gordura elevado (p = 0,04), idade metabólica (p = 0,04) e medição fraca da força no dinamômetro (p = 0,01). Massa muscular estava baixa em 50% dos pacientes, redução de massa óssea em 3,3%, quantidade baixa de proteínas em 11,7%, gordura visceral em nível de alerta em 25% e perigo em 3,3%. Além de idade metabólica mais elevada em 49,2% do total. Eram tabagistas 25,4% e etilistas 55,6%. Realizado ECG que evidenciou alterações em 6,3% da amostragem. Conclusão: Os resultados indicam a importância da monitorização do peso e correlação com transtornos metabólicos em PVH, independente de supressão virológica ou CD4. A detecção de baixa massa muscular, redução de massa óssea, baixa quantidade de proteínas e níveis elevados de gordura visceral e idade metabólica elevada podem ser fatores de grande impacto no envelhecimento desses pacientes.

The assessment of soil quality is crucial for the sustainable development of agriculture in semiarid regions. Due to their sensitivity to management practices, soil chemical and physical quality indicators are used for investigating soil quality. This study aimed to assess the soil quality of smallholder agroecosystems from the Brazilian semiarid region. Soil physical and chemical attributes were screened using principal component analysis (PCA) and integrated into a weighted additive soil quality index (SQI). Soil quality was obtained using linear and non-linear scoring methods, a total data set (TDS), and a minimum data set (MDS). The soil quality of the agroecosystems was designated as being of moderate grade. The MDS for soil quality assessment includes cation exchange capacity, C stock, exchangeable sodium percentage, flocculation degree, pH, electrical conductivity, available P, and K+ from twenty-five indicators of the TDS. This MDS mainly reflects the input of manure and crop residues associated with moderate weathering of easily weatherable minerals given the semiarid conditions. The SQI obtained can be used to synthesize the information of the TDS and is a valuable tool to indicate the soil quality of agroecosystems; thereby, it can be used with indicators of sustainable management for application at a regional scale.

This study investigates the factors driving football players with identical training experience and genetics to have dramatically different career paths. We studied two paired cases from a pool of 32 talented U-20 players who were twice World Champions. The first paired case is a set of monozygotic twins that played football for exactly the same period of time yet only one of them was selected for the national team. The second paired case refers to an outstanding player who got injured and withdrew from his football career and the player who replaced him in the national team. Semi-structured interviews were conducted and then analyzed inductively. The results provide a description of opportunities (affordances) that could only be taken by those who were ready to act skillfully when such rare event occurred. To act on such affordances (or not) may dramatically change the outcome of a player's career. These results suggest that expert performance and high achievement emerge from circumstances resulting from the self-organization of several performer-environmental factors. Acting on such opportunities (affordances) implies being perceptually attuned to and ready for unpredictable events. This research builds on the ecological dynamics approach and provides a basis for further understanding of expertise and expert performance.

Introdução: A intervenção em saúde mental na infância e adolescência deve ser uma prioridade, tendo em conta a elevada prevalência das perturbações mentais nesta faixa etária associadas a uma alta taxa de comorbilidade e a tendência à cronicidade de psicopatologia para a idade adulta. A literatura realça a importância de descentralizar os cuidados de saúde mental infantil, promovendo uma intervenção baseada na comunidade e em interface entre os serviços especializados e os cuidados de saúde primários. Métodos: Realização de uma formação sobre saúde mental infantil, dirigida a médicos e técnicos dos cuidados de saúde primários. Os participantes, no início e no final do curso, responderam a um questionário de 22 perguntas, elaborado pela comissão científica. Os resultados foram avaliados através do Teste Qui Quadrado de Pearson. Resultados: Do total de 120 participantes, 109 questionários foram preenchidos no início (90% dos participantes) e 97 questionários foram preenchidos no final da ação de formação (81% dos participantes). ABSTRACT Objectives: to analyze nursing vulnerability through photos released by the media amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: a documentary study, with a qualitative approach. The object of analysis were photographic images selected between January 2020 and March 2021, published by the main news portals in countries such as Brazil, the United States, France, Spain, England and Germany. Thematic categorical analysis was the method of analysis used. Results: we found 74 photographs that portrayed nursing professionals in different work situations. It was possible to identify stigma and social devaluation about this class’s representation and professional attribution. Moreover, we found an underrepresentation of black professionals in Brazilian portals and the man as the prominent figure in the spaces of claims. Final Considerations: the photographs represented an important tool for the social analysis of nursing vulnerability, favoring the unveiling of situations that may go unnoticed by nursing and society.

O presente estudo tem como objetivo analisar a criação de um protótipo para o ensino hematológico no curso de medicina durante o isolamento físico, ocasionado pela pandemia de Covid-19. A abordagem metodológica é qualitativa de natureza exploratória, consistindo em um estudo de caso. Os resultados indicam que as estudantes envolvidas no projeto de IC puderam desfrutar de um elevado grau de colaboração, visto que o Figma cria uma rede compartilhada, socialmente interativa. Essa ação possibilitou ação participativa, coletiva e a construção de significados. Além disso, observou-se a necessidade de investir em tecnologias que auxiliem a aprendizagem dos alunos e que ampliem possibilidades de construção do conhecimento. Em outros termos, é possível desenvolver estratégias de ensino com essas tecnologias, disponibilizando diferentes contextos de aprendizagem. Assim, o artigo demonstra, de forma prática, como elaborar outros recursos pedagógicos que podem auxiliar no processo educativo, não somente na saúde, mas em todas as áreas do conhecimento.

Background: There are deeply relevant questions concerning how to integrate and organise various nonlinear pedagogical strategies and methods in order to structure training in the professional development of Physical Education (PE) teachers and sport coaches. To promote the emergence and development of innovative and adaptive performance behaviours in sport, nonlinear pedagogy advocates the methodology of constraints manipulation to facilitate learning. Sport pedagogues have to manage and apply different constraint manipulations at varying times in practice contexts, that is, while planning before/following a learning session (i.e. designing the micro-structure of practice) and in interactions during the session. In nonlinear pedagogy, the design of practice micro-structure is predicated on the continuous, intertwined relationships between decision-making, action, perception and cognition in sport performance and learning contexts. Purpose: Here, we present an analysis of the activities that pedagogues engage in to facilitate learning and performance in sport (i.e. the "micro-structure of practice") during practical interventions in sport and exercise contexts, based on the use of a Constraints-led approach by PE teachers and coaches. Method: Based on data from illustrative studies on performance analysis and constraints manipulation, we exemplify some of the main principles and assumptions of nonlinear pedagogy. This synthesis, framed in a nonlinear pedagogy, aims to reveal how adopting a constraint led approach can straightforwardly enhance learning designs of sport practitioners. Conclusions: This article shares insights from a nonlinear pedagogy that can frame the micro-structure of practice during interventions, compared to utilization of traditional pedagogical practices. It is proposed that PE teachers and coaches are designers of learning environments and that both learning and performance improvement are seen as emerging from the interaction of key constraints (related to task, learner and environment).

Introduction: This study aimed to describe the fixation location and the time of the longer fixation of expert and novice futsal coaches before the ball was in play in futsal set pieces. Methods: A total of 10 experts (ages 48 ± 5) and 10 novice coaches (ages 40 ± 7) participated in the study. They observed that 38 video clips were created to mimic the attack and defensive set-piece moments of the game. Data were collected in a standardized video analysis task using the pupil invisible eye tracker and processed through the pupil cloud platform. The Mann-Whitney test was conducted to evaluate differences in gaze duration between game moments (attack and defense set pieces) and groups (expert vs. novice). Gaze duration was also compared for gaze location between groups. For further comparisons, the game moments (attack and defense set pieces) and the gaze location were summarized in two-dimensional graphics using correspondence analysis. Results and discussion: The results revealed higher values of gaze duration for attack and defense set pieces for the group of experts than for novices. When considering gaze duration, expert coaches had higher values than novices for the attacker 3, defender 3, barrier 1st, and barrier 2nd gaze locations. The correspondence analysis showed different strategies of visual search and, consequently, gaze locations for attack and defense set pieces. In particular, there was different correspondence for free kicks between the level of expertise and gaze location, while corner and sideline kicks revealed some correspondence between the groups and the gaze location. In free kicks, coaches should be particularly concerned about the relationship between attacker and defender three and the barrier 1st and 2nd line positions. Renal vein thrombosis (RVT) associated with nephrotic syndrome (NS) in patients with flank pain is rarely the earliest manifestation. Despite the absence of formal guidelines, treatment generally consists of prophylaxis against new thrombotic events and clot dissolution (thrombolysis) or clot removal (thrombectomy). We describe the case of a 25-year-old woman with lumbar pain, nausea and vomiting, who developed nephrotic proteinuria, macroscopic hematuria and loss of renal function requiring hemodialysis without improvement with methylprednisolone and cyclophosphamide. Considered diagnoses of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and antiphospholipid antibody syndrome (APS). Angiotomography showed subacute vena cava thrombosis with extension to the two renal veins. Alteplase thrombolysis was performed to recovery of renal function. Patient progressed with improvement of renal function and discontinuation of hemodialysis. In conclusion, late thrombolysis may be effective for subacute RVT in NS patients.

À luz da semiótica proposta por A. J. Greimas (1983), o presente trabalho busca analisar como se deu a construção de sentido da canção “Je ne regrette rien” (Charles Dumont/ Michel Vaucaire) - último sucesso de Édith Piaf, bem como entender a compatibilidade entre texto e melodia proposto por Luiz Tatit (1996). Uma vez analisada a canção e, sendo tomadas como ponto de partida a prosódia, a persona vocal e a performance de Piaf, pretendemos estabelecer um estudo comparativo entre o modelo de canto da cantora e as versões nômades trazidas por cinco intérpretes brasileiros. Assim, valendo-nos de conceitos-chave introduzidos por Paul Zumthor, tais como os de performance, nomadismo, movência, fixação e memória (Zumthor, 1997), buscamos entender como essa canção continua ressoando na memória do público brasileiro, em diferentes gravações, adaptações e desdobramentos na paisagem sonora do país (Schafer, 2001). Apesar do silêncio em que se encontra a canção francesa no Brasil e das idiossincrasias entre as duas culturas, conclui-se que estas versões têm contribuído efetivamente para a fixação da memória da cultura musical francesa no país.

In our societally extractive age, sport science risks being swept up in the intensifying desire to commodify the experiences of those that scientists proclaim to study. Coupled with the techno-digital revolution, this stems from a vertical (onto)logic that frames the sporting landscape as a static space filled with discrete objects waiting for us to capture, analyse, re-present and sell on as knowledge. Not only does this commodification degrade primary experience in the false hope of epistemological objectivity, it reinforces the unidirectionality of extractivism by setting inquirer apart from, and above of, inquiry. Here, we advocate for a different, more sentient logic grounded in the relationality of gifting as understood in indigenous philosophies. This foregrounds an ecological orientation to scholarship that sets out neither to objectify or describe that which is of concern, but to correspond with its becoming. On this, there are three threads we cast forward. First, in a corresponsive sport science, inhabitants are not objects of analysis, but lines in-becoming, who in answering to others, form knots in a meshwork. These knots constitute communal places in which inhabitants have joined with the differentiating coming-into-being of others. Second, knowledge is not authoritatively (re)cognitive, but humbly ecological; not produced vertically through imposition, but grown longitudinally in responsively moving from place to place. Third, research does not follow a vertically extractive (onto)logic, but is a practice of participant observation. This perspective appreciates that we, sport scientists, are also lines in-becoming that form parts of the knots in which we seek to know. In coda, our thesis is not a call for more qualitative or applied research in the sport sciences. It is a call to response-ably open up to that which sparks our curiosity, answering to what is shared with care, sensitivity and sincerity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

From an ecological dynamics perspective, careful manipulation of task constraints can provide opportunities for action, exploited by functional movement variability of participants. The constraints-led approach (CLA) induces functional movement variability in practice designs, supporting athlete performance in satisfying task constraints and finding performance solutions to achieve intended task goals. Young male volleyball players were randomly assigned to either a traditional approach (TA) or CLA practice group. Selected spatial-temporal movement coordination variables were recorded, to explore their relations to successful performance outcomes in the attacking phase. Binomial logistic regression was used to verify the association of spatial-temporal movement variables with the percentage of successful attacks. Six spatial-temporal variables were included, and a manual backward stepwise regression was used to remove those which did not contribute to the best predictive model of successful performance. After a 6-week intervention programme, the CLA practice group displayed a significantly higher percentage of successful attack actions, when facing the opposition block. The TA group showed a small increase in successful attack actions after the intervention. The final binomial logistic regression model revealed that the variables 'lateral deviation of the participants' centre of mass' at the planting step and 'longitudinal deviation of the participants' centre of mass' at point of ball contact were the main predictors of successful attacking outcomes. To overcome the opposition's block in volleyball, infusing functional variability in a CLA task design, promoted superior performance in practice. Presumably, greater movement pattern variability emerged in participants to satisfy performance constraints in successful volleyball attacks. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Este estudo objetivou levantar e analisar os perfis antropométricos e físicos de militares de Força de Paz, antes (Avl-01) e após 12 semanas de preparação (Avl-02) e após 24 semanas de missão (Avl-03), bem como verificar os efeitos do treinamento, pós-preparação, e do destreinamento, pós-missão. Para isso, 313 militares, integrantes de contingentes de Forças de Paz (26,9±5,3 anos, 176,0±6,1 cm, 75,8±10,2 Kg), foram submetidos a avaliações antropométricas e físicas em três momentos distintos (Avl-01, Avl-02 e Avl-03) para caracterizar as variáveis: percentual de gordura (%G), IMC, RCQ, VO2max, testes de flexão de braços (FLEX), abdominal-supra (ABDOM) e flexão na barra (BARRA). A educação desde sua origem apresenta-se como uma modalidade de acesso restrito, no qual nem todos tinham as mesmas oportunidades e direitos a aprendizagem. Com o passar do tempo surgiram documentos que salientavam um comprometimento maior com relação ao ensino à alunos com deficiências, reflexões e debates fizeram surgir políticas de incentivo e obrigatoriedade de uma educação agora chamada de inclusiva. O objetivo do presente estudo foi expor a partir das experiências vivenciadas no estágio, as dificuldades, bem como as possibilidades da prática pedagógica de Educação Física com alunos com diferentes deficiências e níveis de comprometimento da Associação de Pais e Amigos dos Excepcionais - APAE da cidade de Iguatu-CE. O estágio contribuiu de forma significativa tanto para os alunos quanto para os estagiários, havendo uma troca de conhecimento e experiências, possibilitando um crescimento pessoal, profissional e acadêmico, tornando-se de suma importância para o desenvolvimento do mesmo enquanto futuro docente.

Background: There is some apparent confusion regarding similarities and differences between two popular physical education (PE) pedagogical frameworks, that is, the Constraints-Led Approach (CLA) and Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU). Purpose: Our aim in this commentary is to detail important theoretical and pedagogical concepts that distinguish these approaches, as well as to recognise where commonalities exist. Findings: In particular, we note that TGfU had its roots in the 1960s in the absence of a substantial theoretical framework, although several attempts to retrospectively scaffold theories around TGfU have subsequently emerged in the literature. TGfU is a learner-centred approach to PE in which teachers are encouraged to design modified games to develop the learner's understanding of tactical concepts. In contrast, the CLA has arisen more recently from the umbrella of Nonlinear Pedagogy (NLP), emerging from the empirically rich theoretical framework of ecological dynamics. The CLA adopts a "learner-environment" scale of analysis in which practitioners are encouraged to identify and modify interacting constraints (of task, environment and learner) to facilitate the coupling of each learner's perceptual and action systems during learning. The CLA is a broader framework which has been adapted for the design of (re)learning environments in PE, sport and movement therapy. Other key distinctions between the approaches include: the overall goals; the way in which the learner and the learning process are modelled; the use of questioning as a pedagogical tool; the focus on individual differences vs. generic concepts; and how progressions and skill interjections are planned and implemented. Conclusions: Despite such distinctions, the two approaches are somewhat harmonious and key similarities include: their holistic perspective of the learner; the proposed role of the teacher and the design characteristics of learning tasks in each. Both TGfU and the CLA have a powerful central focus on the nature of learning activities undertaken by each individual learner. This clarification of TGFU and the CLA is intended to act as a catalyst for more empirical work into the complementarity of these juxtaposed pedagogical approaches to learning design.

Este texto pretende demonstrar como o processo de nomadismo e movência dos textos artísticos pode interferir nas formas de sensibilidade e, consequentemente, nos processos de comunicação estética. Para tanto, tomamos versões paródicas de filmes da década de 1950, com o fim de verificar: 1) como a apropriação paródica estabelece uma semântica particular, considerando o trânsito entre arte e o espetáculo de entretenimento popular; 2) como as novas versões modificam o estatuto da obra e por conseguinte, sua fruição. Para este estudo, tomam-se elementos das linguagens da moda e da música. Concluímos que para além de novas formas de sensibilidade, tais obras constituem memória cultural, no seio da cultura midiática.

The GIS is considered one of the most important tools for understanding the structure and dynamics of vegetation cover in various temporal and spatial scales, when used in the landscape’s ecology provides information for man's relationship study of the environment, and to understand ecological processes. This study aimed to show the role of digital processing techniques of unsupervised images for multitemporal analysis of environmental degradation in the state of Paraiba. The study area for this work it was the state of Paraiba, in Mesoregions of Sertão Paraibano, Borborema and Agreste Paraibano. Rainfall is unevenly distributed throughout the year, with diverse climatic conditions, associated to the climate distribution with location, noting in the closer regions to the coast a humidity climate, although how further away from coast, drier is the regions. The methodology was based on temporal analysis of orbital images TM / Landsat - 5 for the dates in September 1998 and September 2009 for mesoregion of Sertão Paraibano, in October 1999 and September 2008 to the mesoregion of Borborema, and in April 1999 and July 2007 to the mesoregion of Agreste Paraibano, where the images used were obtained from the National Institute for Space Research (INPE). The results indicated that the temperature and rainfall are directly related to the amount of vegetation cover, increased sparse vegetation appears to be quite worrying because it is in this class that degradation levels can increase beginning to desertification cores. The work showed the great potential of using geoprocessing tools for spatial analysis of the study area and from that conduct a study on the dynamics of vegetation cover in the study area.
