Ultra-wideband (UWB) technology offers a unique alternative for communicating over short distances due to its high capacity and low power consumption during transmission and reception. However, designing an antenna with appropriate characteristics for these systems is a significant problem since it must avoid interfering with current limited bandwidth technologies (e.g., Wi-Fi, lower 5G, and satellite downlink band) in the UWB range. In this review article, we have made a comprehensive literature review of quasi-perfect-notch band UWB antennas that have been reported with different techniques used. The ever-growing demand for antennas in wireless communications has challenged researchers to design antennas with innovations for highly efficient communications between end users. Adding external filters has the disadvantage of large volume and high cost. To overcome these problems the researchers have proposed different band-notch techniques to mitigate the interferences in this densely populated wireless network era. The primary objective of this review article is to offer comprehensive insights into various highly selective notch-band UWB antennas, presenting a clearer overview of the techniques used to mitigate interference from narrowband signals that overlap with the UWB spectrum. The methods used—which include applying EBG structures, incorporating SRRs, slot etching, and using stubs—are covered in detail in different sections.

Abstract Background Changing climate is causing erratic rainfall and prolonged drought periods, thus posing serious threats to crop productivity. Owing to severity of drought events, it is imperative to take proactive measures to enhance the resilience of drought sensitive crops like rice. Therefore, the present study was carried out to improve the drought stress tolerance in rice through gamma amino butyric acid (GABA) application. Methods The experiment was included four GABA concentrations i.e., 0 mM as control, 1 mM, 1.5 mM, and 2 mM, two water levels i.e., 100% and 50% field capacity (referred as FC100 for well-watered and FC50 for drought conditions, respectively), and two fragrant rice cultivars i.e., Super Basmati and Basmati-515. Results The findings unveiled a comprehensive improvement in various parameters with GABA application in fragrant rice under both well-watered (FC100) and water-limited (FC50) conditions, compared to the control. Specifically, GABA induced enhancements were observed in plant height, root length, fresh weight, dry weight, total soluble protein content, and total free amino acid content across both cultivars. Moreover, GABA application significantly improved peroxidase (POD) and catalase (CAT) enzyme activities, alongside elevating anthocyanin levels, while concurrently reducing H2O2 contents in both FC100 and FC50 treatments. Furthermore, the positive impact of GABA extended to morphological traits, with notable increases in panicle length, total tillers and productive tillers per hill, branch and grain numbers per panicle, and 1000-grain weight for Super Basmati and Basmati 515 cultivars under both water regimes, compared to Ck. Similarly, the grain yield increased by 31.01% and 27.32% under FC100 and 36.85% and 27.71% under FC50 in Super Basmati and Basmati-515, respectively, in response to GABA application, compared to Ck. Additionally, principal component analysis (PCA) revealed significant variances attributed to Dim1 and Dim2, with 86.1% and 4.0% of the variance, respectively, across three bi-plots encompassing rice cultivars, water levels, and GABA treatments. Notably, all tested indices, except for H2O2 and non-productive tillers per hill, exhibited positive correlations amongst themselves and with rice yield, further emphasizing the beneficial effects of GABA application on fragrant rice under well-watered and drought conditions. Conclusions GABA significantly improved fragrant rice performance under both well-watered (FC100) and water-limited (FC50) conditions. Moreover, integrating GABA application into rice cultivation practices could not only improve the crop resilience to drought stress but also potentially benefiting the future food and nutritional security globally. However, however; further research is needed to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms of the functionality of GABA in fragrant rice, particularly under drought conditions.

This paper presents a conformal, miniaturized, and geometrically simple monopole antenna designed for Vehicle–to–Everything (V2X) communications. The antenna consists of a flexible substrate, radiating patch, ground, and metallic stubs. Meandered lines are added to the U-shaped radiator to achieve the required bandwidth of the antenna. The antenna has |S11|< −10 dB magnitude from 5.06 to 7.24 GHz, attaining a peak low magnitude of–68 dB. The antenna is configured into a 4-port Multiple–Input–Multiple–Output (MIMO) setup to minimize the mutual coupling between its elements. The proposed flexible MIMO antenna offers bandwidth from 5.37 to 7.34 GHz and a peak moderate gain of 4.63 dBi with omnidirectional stable radiation patterns. To improve the mutual coupling, two hollow concentric circular structures, in combination with a pair of stub networks are integrated between the elements of the MIMO system. The transmission coefficient and surface current analysis confirm the effectiveness of the decoupling structure. The presented MIMO antenna is characterized by high isolation, a low envelope correlation coefficient (ECC), and high diversity gain, suitable for V2X MIMO communication scenarios.

This paper presents the design and characterization of a coplanar waveguide (CPW) fed, low-profile, and flexible arrow-shaped filtenna for ISM band applications at 2.45 GHz. The antenna design involves an innovative approach incorporating etching slots to achieve miniaturization by 34%, contrasting with a traditional quadrilateral-shaped antenna. After the attainment of desired miniaturization, the unwanted harmonics are also mitigated by deploying simple filtering methodology. A perpendicular rectangular stub is strategically introduced to the feedline, effectively minimizing harmonics across a broad frequency range of 3.3–11.0 GHz. Through simulations and measurements, the results indicate that the antenna’s operational band spans from 2.276 to 2.75 GHz, encompassing the entire ISM band (2.4–2.5 GHz). Notably, the antenna demonstrates promising radiation characteristics, including omnidirectional gain of approximately 2.2 dBi and a radiation efficiency exceeding 95%. With a compact overall size of 0.24λ × 0.20λ × 0.0005λ (where λ is the free-space wavelength at 2.45 GHz), coupled with wide harmonic rejection property, the proposed arrow-shaped flitenna emerges as a compelling candidate for ISM band applications.

In this article, an ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna featuring two reconfigurable quasi-perfect stop bands at WLAN (5.25–5.75 GHz) and lower 5G (3.4–3.8 GHz) utilizing electromagnetic bandgaps (EBGs) and positive-intrinsic-negative (P-I-N) diodes is proposed. A pair of EBG structures are applied to generate sharp notch bands in the targeted frequency spectrum. Each EBG creates a traditional notch, while two regular notches are combined to make a quasi-perfect, sharp, notch band. Four P-I-N diodes are engraved into the EBG structures to enable notch band reconfigurability. By switching the operational condition of the four diodes, the UWB antenna can dynamically adjust its notching characteristics to enhance its adaptability to various communication standards and applications. The antenna can be reconfigured as a UWB (3–11.6 GHz) without any notch band, a UWB with a single sharp notch (either at WLAN or 5G), or a UWB with two quasi-perfect notch bands. Moreover, the antenna’s notch bands can also be switched from a traditional notch to a quasi-perfect notch and vice versa. To confirm the validity of the simulated outcomes, the proposed reconfigurable UWB antenna is fabricated and measured. The experimental findings are aligned closely with simulation results, and the antenna offers notch band reconfigurability. The antenna shows a consistently favorable radiation pattern and gain. The dimension of the presented antenna is 20 × 27 × 1.52 mm3 (0.45 λc × 0.33 λc × 0.025 λc, where λc is the wavelength in free space).

In ultra-wideband (UWB) communications, highly selective notch bands are required to avoid interference with other licensed bands. This study presents a highly selective triple-notch UWB-MIMO antenna, which consists of a four-radiating patch antenna and an isolator. The single-element antenna consists of a radiating patch, substrate, ground plane, electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) structures, and split ring resonators (SRR). To achieve the designated UWB bandwidth, the lower edges of the antenna patch are cut by a quarter-circle radius. The three sharp notches are achieved by utilizing four EBGs and two SRRs at the back of the antenna. The notch bandwidth can also be controlled by changing the parameters such as the width and length of the EBG structure and SRR. The single antenna is then translated into 4-port MIMO systems. The high correlation between elements is reduced by inserting a unique parasitic decoupling structure. The decoupling structure is designed in a way that reduces the mutual coupling in all passbands. The proposed antenna offers a (|S11| < –10 dB) of 3.1 – 11.8 GHz impedance bandwidth. The proposed MIMO antenna having an overall size of 54 × 54 × 1.52 mm3 is fabricated to verify the simulation results. The MIMO antenna shows exceptional diversity properties, including better isolation between unit elements of MIMO antenna (>20 dB), a diversity gain (DG) very close to 10 dB (>9.99 dB), an envelope correlation coefficient which is less than 0.001, and suitable mean effective gain is also in the defined range. The suggested parasitic element UWB – MIMO antenna thus supports its suitability for use in UWB communication networks.

In this article, a 4-port circularly polarized (CP) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna at 5.9 GHz is presented for the vehicle to everything (V2X) communications. A novel hybrid decoupling structure consisting of circular ring parasites and defected ground structure (DGS) is used to reduce the mutual coupling between the MIMO elements. The circular ring parasites are incorporated between the antennas to reduce the mutual coupling between perpendicular antennas. Whereas, the DGS significantly reduces the mutual coupling between adjacent antennas. These circular ring parasites and DGS affect the electromagnetic field distribution and consequently reduce the mutual coupling. The effectiveness of the decoupling structure is explained through transmission coefficient and surface current distribution. The simulated and measured results show that the proposed MIMO antenna provides overlapping $\text{S}_{\mathrm {11 {}}}$ (−10 dB) and axial ratio (3-dB) bandwidth of 2.04% (5.82 – 5.94 GHz) with a peak gain of 7.68 dBic. Moreover, the fabricated MIMO antenna offers excellent diversity performance, isolation between antenna elements is very high (>34dB), envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) is lower than 0.001, and diversity gain is 9.99 dB, very close to the ideal value of 10 dB. Furthermore, the link budget for the proposed MIMO system is calculated to check the suitability for V2X communications which shows that the antenna can communicate between them over a distance of 1.5 kilometers with a 21 dBm of transmit power. Owing to these qualities, the proposed MIMO antenna can be an excellent choice for V2X MIMO communications.

A conformal tri-band antenna tailored for flexible devices and body-centric wireless communications operating at the key frequency bands is proposed. The antenna is printed on a thin Rogers RT 5880 substrate, merely 0.254 mm thick, with an overall geometrical dimension of 15 × 20 × 0.254 mm3. This inventive design features a truncated corner monopole accompanied by branched stubs fed by a coplanar waveguide. The stubs, varying in length, serve as quarter-wavelength monopoles, facilitating multi-band functionality at 2.45, 3.5, and 5.8 GHz. Given the antenna’s intended applications in flexible devices and body-centric networks, the conformability of the proposed design is investigated. Furthermore, an in-depth analysis of the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) is conducted using a four-layered human tissue model. Notably, the SAR values for the proposed geometry at 2.45, 3.5, and 5.8 GHz stand at 1.48, 1.26, and 1.1 W/kg for 1 g of tissue, and 1.52, 1.41, and 0.62 W/kg for 10 g of tissue, respectively. Remarkably, these values comfortably adhere to both FCC and European Union standards, as they remain substantially beneath the threshold values of 1.6 W/kg and 2 W/kg for 1 g and 10 g tissues, respectively. The radiation characteristics and performance of the antenna in flat and different bending configurations validate the suitability of the antenna for flexible devices and body-centric wireless communications.

This paper investigates an ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna with a triple-rectangular notch band at 5G, WLAN, and Satellite downlink bands. The 5G and WLAN bands are notched by using a pair of electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) structures while the satellite downlink band is notched by using two split-ring resonators (SRRs). The EBG structure is a metallic conductor loaded on the backside of the radiator which is connected to the patch via a shorting pin. The SRRs consist of a pair of metallic rings etched on the backside of the feedline. The simulated and measured results show that the proposed antenna has an operational bandwidth from 3.1 - 11.8 GHz for |S11|

This paper presents a metasurface-based single-layer low-profile circularly polarized (CP) antenna with the wideband operation and its multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) configuration for fifth-generation (5G) communication systems. The antenna consists of a truncated corner patch and a metasurface (MS) of a 2 × 2 periodic square metallic plates. The distinguishing feature of this design is that all the radiating elements (radiator and MS) are printed on the single-layer of the dielectric substrate, which ensures the low-profile and low-cost features of the antenna while maintaining high gain and wideband characteristics. The wideband CP radiations are realized by exploiting surface-waves along the MS and its radiation mechanism is explained in detail. The single-layer antenna geometry has an overall compact size of 1.0λ0 × 1.0λ0 × 0.04λ0. Simulated and measured results show that the single-layer metasurface antenna has a wide 10 dB impedance bandwidth of 23.4 % (24.5 - 31 GHz) (23.4 %) and overlapping 3-dB axial ratio bandwidth of 16.8 % (25 - 29.6 GHz). The antenna also offers stable radiation patterns with a high radiation efficiency (>95%) and a flat gain of 11 dBic. Moreover, a 4-port (2 × 2) MIMO antenna is designed using the proposed design by placing each element perpendicular to each other. Without a dedicated decoupling structure, the MIMO antenna shows an excellent diversity performance in terms of isolation between antenna elements, envelope correlation coefficient, and channel capacity loss. Most importantly, the operational bandwidth of the antenna covers the millimeter-wave (mm-wave) band (25 - 29.5 GHz) assigned for 5G communication. These features of the proposed antenna system make it a suitable candidate for 5G smart devices and sensors.

This paper presents the design and realization of a metasurface-based low-profile wideband Circularly Polarized (CP) patch antenna with high performance for Fifth-generation (5G) communication systems. The antenna consists of a modified patch, sandwiched between an array of 4 x 4 symmetrical square ring Metasurface (MTS) and a ground plane. Initially, the intrinsic narrow bandwidth of the conventional patch antenna is increased using a diagonal rectangular slot. For further performance enhancement, the additional resonances and CP radiations are achieved for wideband operation in terms of impedance and Axial Ratio (AR) by effective excitation of surface waves propagating along the MTS. The stacking of MTS on the modified patch without any air gap resulted in an overall compact size of 1.1λ0x 1.1λ0 x 0.093λ0. Simulated and measured results show that the MTS-based antenna offers a wide impedance bandwidth ranging from 24 - 34.1 GHz (34.7%) for |S11|

This paper presents a compact two-element MIMO antenna with improved isolation for triple-band applications. The antenna consists of two radiating elements with the shared ground plane and a novel decoupling structure. Each antenna element has three stubs with different lengths, which work as quarter-wavelength monopoles to give a triple-band operation. The decoupling system is made by etching various slots in an inverted H-shape stub attached to two quarter-circles at its lower ends. The simulated and measured results show that the antenna operates (|S11| < −10 dB) at the key frequency bands of 2.4 GHz (2.29–2.47 GHz), 3.5 GHz (3.34–3.73 GHz), and 5.5 GHz (4.57–6.75 GHz) with a stable gain and radiation patterns. This paper presents the performance improvement of a co-planar waveguide rectangularly notched UWB-MIMO antenna. The isolation and gain of the antenna are enhanced by using a parasitic isolator. The antenna consists of four microstrip patch antennas and an isolator. The UWB characteristic of the antenna is achieved by truncating the lower ends of the radiating patch by a semicircle. The rectangular notch characteristic is obtained by adding two electromagnetic bandgap structures on the backside of the antenna, which is attached to the radiator via shorting pin. The performance, especially the decoupling of the MIMO antenna is improved by using a novel parasitic decoupler, which is placed between the antennas to receive uncorrelated signals. The decoupling structure consists of a square shape metallic element with a circular slot inside and a half-semicircle slot edged at each corner. Four rectangular metallic stubs are extended from opposite parallel sides to improve further isolation. The simulated and measured results show that the antenna has a rectangular notch band (5.25–5.85 GHz) across the working band of 3–12.8 GHz. This paper presents the design and realization of a compact ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna with a rectangular notch wireless area network (WLAN) band that has controllable notched bandwidth and center frequency. The UWB characteristics of the antenna are achieved by truncating the lower ends of the rectangular microstrip patch, and the notch characteristics are obtained by using electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) structures. EBGs consist of two rectangular metallic conductors loaded on the back of the radiator, which is connected to the patch by shorting pins. A rectangular notch at the WLAN band with high selectivity is realized by tuning the individual resonant frequencies of the EBGs and merging them. Furthermore, the results show that the bandwidth and frequency of the rectangular notch band could be controlled according to the on-demand rejection band applications. In the demonstration, the rectangular notch band was shifted to X-band satellite communication by tuning the EBG parameters. The simulated and measured results show that the proposed antenna has an operational bandwidth from 3.1−12.5 GHz for |S11| < -10 with a rectangular notch band from 5−6 GHz, thus rejecting WLAN band signals. The antenna also has additional advantages: the overall size of the compact antenna is 16 × 25 × 1.52 mm3 and it has stable gain and radiation patterns.

The aim of this study was to investigate the therapeutic effects of Fenugreek on rabbit with diabetes induced experimentally. A total of thirty rabbits were divided into 3 groups, each group contain 10 animals, G1 (control negative), G2 (Control positive), G3 induced diabetes by giving alloxan 135mg/kg IP then after 2 weeks of diabetes induction, animals were drenched with Fenugreek seeds 100mg/kg orally. The results showed that rabbits in G2 suffered from hypoglycemia due to Fenugreek effects as compared with G1 group, also, G3 showed a significant gradual decrease in glucose levels especially after 96hrs of giving the Fenugreek. Background: Chlorpromazine has an effectively and extensive use for treated psychotic upset such as manicdepression or schizophrenia in adults, besides used to treat nausea, vomiting and anxiety, there is limitation in therapeutic use because of induction hepatotoxicity. Recently reports have been advocate that ability of supplementation with antioxidant can be influence chlorpromazine promote acute liver injury. Objectives: The current study aims mainly to investigate the prophylactic effect of oral treated with Tocopheronic acid against the liver damage induced by intraperitoneal administration of chlorpromazine. Method: Efficacy of Tocopheronic acid against the hepatotoxicity was evaluated in terms of biochemical estimation like serum level LDH, ALT and AST and of GSH antioxidant related enzyme activity like GST, GPx, SOD, GR, Catalase, QR and 1-GGT) level, with histopathological changes. Results: In treated group chlorpromazine induced glutathione depletion, oxidase activity, lipid peroxidation, xanthine, depletion in antioxidant (superoxide dismutase, glutathione, reductase, glutathione peroxidase, catalase and glucose-6 phosphate dehydrogenase) and phase-II detoxifying (quinine reductase and glutathione-S-transferase) enzyme activities significantly (p<0.05) when compared with the control, and hepatic tissue damage group which induced by chlorpromazine. The findings from histological changes supported the predication that Tocopheronic acid can be mitigation chlorpromazine induced acute liver injury. Conclusion: The data of the current study elucidate that oxidative stress and liver damage are closely connected with chlorpromazine induced injury and Tocopheronic acid shows the protective efficacy against chlorpromazine induce liver toxicity; it may be possible through reducing the free radicals and inflammatory reaction. Phytic acid (PA) has been reported to have positive nutritional benefits and prevent cancer formation. This study investigated the anticancer activity of rice bran PA against hepatocellular carcinoma (HepG2) cells. Cytotoxicty of PA (0.5 to 4mM) was examined by MTT and LDH assays after 24 and 48 h treatment. Apoptotic activity was evaluated by expression analysis of apoptosis-regulatory genes [i.e. p53, Bcl-2, Bax, Caspase-3 and -9] by reverse transcriptase-PCR and DNA fragmentation assay. The results showed antioxidant activity of PA in Fe3+ reducing power assay (p ≤ 0.03). PA inhibited the growth of HepG2 cells in a concentration dependent manner (p ≤ 0.04). After 48h treatment, cell viability was recorded 84.7, 74.4, 65.6, 49.6, 36.0 and 23.8% in MTT assay and 92.6, 77.0%, 66.8%, 51.2, 40.3 and 32.3% in LDH assay at concentrations of 1, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, and 3.5mM, respectively. Hence, treatment of PA for 24h, recorded viability of cells 93.5, 88.6, 55.5, 34.6 and 24.4% in MTT assay and 94.2, 86.1%, 59.7%, 42.3 and 31.6%, in LDH assay at concentrations of 1, 2.2, 3.0, 3.6 and 4.0mM, respectively. PA treated HepG2 cells showed up-regulation of p53, Bax, Caspase-3 and -9, and down- regulation of Bcl-2 gene (p ≤ 0.01). At the IC50 (2.49 mM) of PA, the p53, Bax, Caspase-3 and-9 genes were up- regulated by 6.03, 7.37, 19.7 and 14.5 fold respectively. Also, the fragmented genomic DNA in PA treated cells provided evidence of apoptosis. Our study confirmed the biological activity of PA and demonstrated growth inhibition and induction of apoptosis in HepG2 cells with modulation of the expression of apoptosis-regulatory genes.
