Two developmental screening tests were applied to 73 children, aged 1 month-6.7 years, in Sioux Falls and the Cheyenne River Reservation (South Dakota). There were no racial differences; compared to urban children, rural reservation children of any race were more likely to pass the Child Development Review and to fail the Denver II Developmental Screening Test. This paper focuses on the characteristics and use of transparent homogenous coloured glass for cast glass sculpture. It provides an overview of glass colouring agents and their characteristics, and establishes factors that influence the appearance of colour in glass. Methods to visually evaluate appropriate colour density for a given form are discussed, as well as essential characteristics that a form must possess to achieve results within a density threshold area, where coloured glass changes in value and/or hue between thick and thin sections.

These educational processes can be seen as an investment of knowledge and skills into the focal person of coach in order to maximize the sporting experience for all those involved. The purpose of the article "Empirical Support for the Conceptual Model of Coaching Education," is to summarize the existing literature which is consistent with the tenets of the conceptual model of coaching education.

ABSTRACT: Screening results for the Child Development Review (CDR) and the Denver II Developmental Screening Test (Denver II) were compared in two locations: the Cheyenne River Reservation in South Dakota and Sioux Falls, S.D. Seventy-three white, Native American and other minority children, half originating from the reservation and half from Sioux Falls, were randomly assigned to take one developmental screening test. A chi-square analysis indicated a significant difference in results across tests. Specifically, more CDR than Denver II subjects passed the screening and more Denver II than CDR subjects failed the screening. This pattern held for subjects living on, but not off, the reservation. Thus, for Native American, white and other minority children living on the Cheyenne River Reservation, the CDR may be undersen-sitive and/or the Denver II oversensitive to suspect presentations. The current study provides a comparison between traditional, theoretical-based coaching education courses, and the new, competency based programs. As an indicator of the outcome derived by coaches, we measured the confidence coaches had with respect to their ability to teach technique, devise strategy, motivate their athletes, and build the character of their athletes. Comparisons between 28 coaches in the traditional program and 46 in the newer course showed that both courses increased all aspects of coaching confidence (F (4, 69) = 20.12, p < .001, n² = .54). The newer courses had a more significant impact on coaches' perceptions of their abilities to teach the techniques of their sport (F (1,72) = 2.96, p < .01, n²) = .10). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
