Self-efficacy belief in mathematics teaching is important for special education teachers to manage classroom practices and ensure disabled students' success. This study examines the level and predictors of mathematics teaching self-efficacy beliefs among 156 preservice teachers enrolled in the Special Education Department of a private university in Northern Cyprus. Using the Mathematics Teaching Self-Efficiency Scale (MTSE) as a data collection instrument, the study shows that preservice teachers possessed an adequate level of mathematics teaching self-efficacy beliefs. Multiple regression analysis indicates that taking a course on Mathematics Teaching in Special Education and having experience in mathematics teaching were significant predictors of the mathematics teaching self-efficacy beliefs.

Bu çalışma, asit yağmurlarının açık hava şartlarındaki ağaç malzemelerde kullanılan verniklerin bazı renk değerine etkilerini belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Bu maksatla açık hava şartlarında sık kullanılan sapsız meşe (Qııercııs petrae Liebl) ve sarıçamdan (Pinus sylevestrıs Lipsky.) hazırlanan örnekler, ASTM-D-30232’ e göre sentetik ve su bazlı vernik ile verniklendikten sonra yüzeyler farklı konsantrasyon ve miktarlarda sülfürik ve nitrik asit çözeltisi etkilerine maruz bırakılmıştır. Örneklerin renk değişimi ASTM-D 2244’e göre belirlenmiştir. Sonuç olarak, kırmızı renk değeri, tekli etkileşimde, en yüksek meşe (10,68), sentetik vernik (11,99), %5N (14,01) ve 120 g/m2 (10,36), en düşük sarıçam (8,935), su bazlı vernik (7,63), % 3S’de (9,293), 150 ve 180 g/m2 de yaklaşık eşit, çoklu etkileşimde en yüksek M+Sn+I+%5N’de (17,49), en düşük Sç+Sb+I+%3S’de (6,408) çıkmıştır. Sarı renk değeri tekli etkileşimde en yüksek sarıçam (56,61), sentetik vernik (35,16), %5 Nitrik asit (34,41) ve 120 g/m2 (30,13)’de, en düşük meşede (51,97), su bazlı vernik (24,02), %5S (29,18) ve 150 ve 180 g/m2, çoklu etkileşimde en yüksek Sç+Sn+I+%3N (46,08)’de, en düşük M+Sb+III+%5S (22,34)’de ölçülmüştür. Buna göre, asit yağmurlarının yoğun olduğu bölgelerde dış mekânlarda kullanılacak ahşap malzemelerde bu çalışmada bulunan değerlerin renk bakımından dikkate alınması, malzemenin uzun yıllar kullanımı açısından yarar sağlayabilir. Özellikle renk değişiminin az olması beklenen alanlarda su bazlı vernik ve sarıçam kullanılması önerilebilir. Diğer faktörlerden elde edilen sonuçların uygulamalarda dikkate alınması avantaj sağlayabilir.

Freight villages are logistics hubs where distribution and storage related activities meet. Determining their locations and capacities is a strategically important yet a difficult problem due to its complex structure. This paper provides a mixed integer linear programming model for identifying the locations, number, and capacities of freight villages. Objective is to set up a distribution network and minimize its total cost. The proposed model is computationally efficient as the optimal solution can be found within minutes. The model is applied using real life data in Turkey. The application includes major container ports as supply points and all cities as demand points, which are also alternative locations for freight villages. Optimal solution provides a plan and a budget to build the required capacity and number of logistics villages dispersed geographically. Sensitivity analysis is also conducted to investigate the system-wide costs and derive insights when there is a limit on the number of freight villages.

Kovid-19 pandemisi başta sağlık olmak üzere birçok alanda krize neden olan ekonomik ve sosyal bir krizdir. Çalışmamızda Kovid-19 pandemisi sırasında rekabet stratejileri ile pazar performansı arasındaki ilişkide girişimcilik odaklılığın aracılık rolü incelenmektedir. ISO 500 listesinde yer alan 137 firmadan toplanan anketlerle yapılan çalışmanın analizleri SPSS 20.0 istatistik programı ile analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmanın sonuçlarına bakıldığında işletmelerin maliyet liderliği ve farklılaşma stratejileri ile pazar performansı arasındaki ilişki kanıtlanmıştır. Rekabet stratejileri ile pazar performansı arasındaki ilişkide girişimcilik odaklılığın aracılık rolü incelenmiş, farklılaşma stratejisi ile pazar performansı arasındaki ilişkide girişimcilik odaklılığın kısmi etkisi kanıtlanmış ancak maliyet liderliği ile pazar performansı arasındaki ilişkide girişimcilik odaklılığın herhangi bir etkisinin olmadığı ortaya konmuştur. Çalışma bulguları, işletmelerin yürüttüğü rekabet stratejilerinin Kovid-19 pandemi dönemindeki belirsizlik ortamında pazar performansını nasıl etkilediği ve bu ortamda girişimcilik odaklılığın rolü konusunda alana katkı sunmaktadır.

BACKGROUND: Egg parasitoids are important biological control agents of lepidopteran pests of agricultural crops. Trichogramma evanescens Westwood and T. pintoi Voegele (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae) are egg parasitoids with worldwide importance. The parasitoid selection necessitates comparative assessment of the life table traits and functional response analysis to provide insights into their effectiveness in pest control. In this study, we examined their life table traits including survivorship and reproductivity, and functional response and associated parameters i.e., attack coefficient and handling time. RESULTS: Life table parameters, using age‐stage, two‐sex theory, revealed similar survival and reproductive strategies for both species. For example, the female longevity, oviposition days and fecundity did not differ between both species. Exceptionally, the male longevity of T. evanescens was shorter than that of T. pintoi. The population growth parameters such as gross reproductive rate (GRR), net reproductive rate (R0), intrinsic rate of increase (r), finite rate of increase (λ), and mean generation time (T) did not differ between species. The polynomial logistic regression yielded a type III functional response and a non‐linear least square analysis revealed different attack coefficient and similar handling time. However, their parasitism rate differed between the lowest (five eggs) and highest (80 eggs) initial host egg densities such that T. evanescens had a lower parasitism rate at the lowest density and higher parasitism rate at the highest density. CONCLUSION: The similarity in survival strategies and minor differences in host handling of both parasitoids are discussed in terms of relevance to applied biological control applications and evolutionary traits. © 2024 The Author(s). This study focuses on staff scheduling problems in a natural gas combined cycle power plants with demanding shift systems. Scheduling the personnel working in power plants to the most suitable shift program can be arduous in terms of energy supply security. Natural gas combined cycle power plants are labor units where an expensive resource such as labor is used intensively. The primary aim in these types of enterprises is to ensure maximum employee satisfaction with minimum operating and labor costs. To meet this goal, companies must use various techniques. Shift scheduling models can also be considered as one of the useful tools in this respect. A constraint programming model has been developed for the shift scheduling problem. This model allows personnel to be assigned equally to shifts, minimizing the cost increase due to overtime. The proposed model satisfies the need for electricity generation in a big natural gas combined cycle power plant was operated in Turkey with real data has an acceptable calculation time to obtain the optimal solution. Staff scheduling model with the proposed improvements to the problem is provided close to 33% compared with the present situation. The calculation results show that the constraint programming model gives better results than the current schedule. The specificity of this study can be listed as follows: Firstly; the different model is presented in detail for the personnel scheduling problem, compared with the actual results and the results of the proposed model. Secondly, the personnel scheduling problem is modelled as a task-source match with the standard scheduling logic and modelled effectively with constraint programming. With the model, suitable solutions can be produced in a short time calculation period.

There are many viruses that infect pepper and limit its production. Among these viruses, Tomato spotted wilt tospovirus (TSWV) infects crops in 35 plant families that are economically important, including pepper. In the present study; totaly 156 leaf samples were collected, including 57 from pepper plants showing virus-like symptoms and 99 from weeds and/or plants other than peppers in and around the greenhouse, through surveys carried out in pepper greenhouses in Kumluca district of Antalya province, from September to December 2020. Then, the plant leaf samples were tested to determine TSWV infections by the Double Antibody Sandwich Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay (DAS-ELISA) method. According to result of the tests, it was determined that 55.76% of the tested leaf samples were infected with TSWV, while this rate was determined as 96.49% for pepper samples and 32.32% for other plant samples. During the survey studies, it was revealed that the leaf samples of 13 out of 31 weed and different plant species except pepper were infected with at least one of the viruses. In addition, pepper plants showing symptoms TSWV-like symptoms in pepper greenhouses were counted during the survey, and the prevalence of this virus disease was calculated on the basis of Kumluca district and neighborhoods. As a result of these calculations, the prevalences of TSWV; for Kumluca, Mavikent, Beykonak, Salur, Hacıveliler, Adrasan, Merkez, and Kavakköy were determined as 26.93%, 26.92%, 32.27%, 20.66%, 21.13%, 17.66%, 13%, and 25%, respectively.

This study was conducted to determine the effect of modifying some varnishes used in wood materials with different nanomaterials on the antimicrobial properties of wood surfaces. For this purpose, samples prepared from Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) Oriental beech (Fagus orientalis Lipsky), and sessile oak (Quercus petraea Liebl.) were varnished with water-based and synthetic varnish with 0.1% and 0.3% nano boron and nano silver added according to ASTM D3023 (2017). Four different microorganisms (Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, and Staphylococcus epidermidis) were used to determine the antimicrobial effect on wood surfaces. Among the microorganisms, the highest growth was found in S. aureus and the lowest growth was found in S. epidermidis. In terms of antimicrobial activity, the lowest growth was found in samples with 0.1% nano boron synthetic varnish and highest growth was found in 0.1% water-based varnish. As a result, it is thought that the use of nano materials together with varnishes applied to the surface of wood materials in areas where antimicrobial properties are desired will be beneficial for human and environmental health. The Generalized Morse Wavelet (GMW) algorithm was adapted to determine the refractive index of dielectric film from the reflectance spectrum. A theoretically generated reflectance spectrum in the range of 300-1200 nm wavelength was analyzed by the Continuous Wavelet Transform (CWT) and the refractive index dispersion was obtained by the mentioned method. In addition, a noisy reflectance spectrum was analyzed to show the advantages of the CWT method. Refractive index dispersions calculated by the Morlet and the Paul wavelet were compared to GMW at the end of the study.

The aim of this study is to develop a scoring rubric to assess primary school students' problem posing skills. The rubric including five dimensions namely solvability, reasonability, mathematical structure, context and language was used. The raters scored the students' problem posing skills both with and without the scoring rubric to test the reliability of the rubric. The study used generalizability theory to test the reliability of the scores obtained with and without the use of the rubric. More reliable scoring was obtained using the scoring rubric. The G and phi coefficients rose somewhat after increasing the number of items and raters in both scoring methods. However, increasing the number of items affected these coefficients slightly more than increasing the number of the raters.

Today, the need for quality wool suitable for worsted fabric production in the world is mainly met by Australian merino wool. In Turkey, which has a significant sheep population, in addition to domestic breeds, approximately 10% of the total sheep population (around four million head) is composed of merino cross breeds. However, the fleece quality is far from meeting Australian merino wool standards. Therefore, the aim of this study is to ensure a merino herd with high‐quality wool in Turkey. For this aim, by carrying out field studies in the Thrace region of Turkey where Turkish Merino sheep are widely bred, sheep with fleece that can meet the demands of the worsted industry were determined. As a result of field studies in which thousands of sheep were examined, it was determined that 43 female and 10 male sheep had fleece that would meet these standards. Then the breeders of the sheep, which had quality fleece, were persuaded and these sheep were purchased, and "Turkey's wool‐oriented Turkish (Karacabey) Merino Herd" consisting of 30 sheep and three rams was formed in the farm of Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University. In the second part of this study, a 100% wool fabric produced by using Australian merino was taken as a reference and it was aimed to produce the same fabric from Turkish merino wool. For this aim, the wool‐oriented Turkish Merino herd, which was bred at the university farm for 1 year, was shorn in May 2022. Then, Turkish and Australian merino wools were first converted into worsted yarn and then into woven fabric. The results of mechanical (tensile strength, pilling, abrasion resistance, felting shrinkage, Hofmann dimensional change, bending stiffness) and dyeability (dye‐uptake, CIE L*a*b* and colour yield (K/S) values; washing, rubbing and light fastness values) properties of fabrics produced from Turkish and Australian merino wool is presented. This research aims to determine whether cyberslacking behaviors of call center employees have changed in terms of demographic characteristics such as gender, marital status, work style, age, and educational status. The research was conducted with the survey method on 334 employees working in a call center in 2021. T-test and one-way variance analysis were used in the data analysis. As a result of the study conducted at the level of two dimensions with the help of demographic factors, it turned out that female employees showed more significant cyberslacking behavior than male employees; single workers revealed more significant cyberslacking behavior than married workers; married workers revealed more insignificant cyberslacking behavior than single workers; full-time workers showed more negligible cyberslacking behavior than part-time workers; primary school graduates revealed more significant cyberslacking behavior than employees of other education levels; those with undergraduate and postgraduate education levels showed more negligible cyberslacking behavior than employees with other education levels; and employees in the 18-26 age range engaged in more trivial cyberslacking behavior than employees in the other age range. Aphids are one of the most important groups of insects that cause damage to agricultural crops, ornamental plants, as well as herbaceous and woody plants in their natural habitats. Aphids that feed on plant sap can cause significant crop losses worldwide, ranging from 70% to 80%, due to stunted growth, deformation, wilting, and other detrimental effects on plants. Despite the chemical, biological, and integrated pest management methods applied against these damages, aphids have rapidly expanded their distribution areas and their damages have been increasing in recent times. Hyalopterus Koch (Hemiptera: Aphididae), a genus of aphids, are known worldwide as pests that infest Prunus trees, which are stone fruit trees. They cause damage by feeding on the trees and also by transmitting plant viruses. Subsequently, improper and indiscriminate use of chemical control methods negatively impacts both human and environmental health. Accurate identification of aphids, especially in terms of invasive species, is crucial for early detection of their damages in the initial stages. The mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) gene is an effective gene region used in the identification of many economically important plant pests worldwide. In this study, a total of 50 individuals of Hyalopterus pruni (Geoffroy) were collected from three localities Şarköy (Ulaman, Bulgurlu, Gölcük, Cumhuriyet, Mürefte, Hoşköy, Gaziköy, Tepeköy, Palamut), Süleymanpaşa (Yüzüncüyıl, Altınova, Banarlı, Barboros, Bıyıkali, Çınarlı, Değirmenaltı, Ferhadanlı, Hürriyet, Karacakılavuz, Karaevli, Naip, Namık Kemal and Marmaraereğlisi (Bahçelievler, Cedit Ali Paşa, Dereağzı, Mustafa Kemal Paşa, Sultanköy, Türkmenli, Yakuplu and Yeniçiftlik) in Tekirdağ province. The species H11, H41, and H61, which were selected to represent three counties, were sequenced, and the molecular sequence results revealed that H. pruni, as morphologically described, showed 99% consistency at the molecular level. Bilinguals tend to produce more co-speech hand gestures to compensate for reduced communicative proficiency when speaking in their L2. We here investigated L1-Turkish and L2-English speakers' gesture use in an emotional context. We specifically asked whether and how (1) speakers gestured differently while retelling L1 versus L2 and positive versus negative narratives and (2) gesture production during retellings was associated with speakers' later subjective emotional intensity ratings of those narratives. We asked 22 participants to read and then retell eight emotion-laden narratives (half positive, half negative; half Turkish, half English). We analysed gesture frequency during the entire retelling and during emotional speech only (i.e., gestures that co-occur with emotional phrases such as "happy"). Our results showed that participants produced more representational gestures in L2 than in L1; however, they used more representational gestures during emotional content in L1 than in L2. Participants also produced more co-emotional speech gestures when retelling negative than positive narratives, regardless of language, and more beat gestures co-occurring with emotional speech in negative narratives in L1. Furthermore, using more gestures when retelling a narrative was associated with increased emotional intensity ratings for narratives. Overall, these findings suggest that (1) bilinguals might use representational gestures to compensate for reduced linguistic proficiency in their L2, (2) speakers use more gestures to express negative emotional information, particularly during emotional speech, and (3) gesture production may enhance the encoding of emotional information, which subsequently leads to the intensification of emotion perception. Shift scheduling problems (SSPs) are advanced NP-hard problems which are generally evaluated with integer programming. This study presents an applicable shift schedule of workers in a large-scale natural gas combined cycle power plant (NGCCPP), which realize 35.17% of the total electricity generation in Turkey alone, as at of the end of 2018. This study included 80 workers who worked three shifts in the selected NGCCPP for 30 days. The proposed scheduling model was solved according to the skills of the workers, and there were nine criteria by which the workers were evaluated for their abilities. Analytic network process (ANP) is a method used for obtaining the weights of workers’ abilities in a particular skill. These weights are used in the proposed scheduling model as concepts in goal programming (GP). The SSP⁻ANP⁻GP model sees employees’ everyday preferences as their main feature, bringing high-performance to the highest level, and bringing an objective functionality, and lowering the lowest success of daily choice. At the same time, the model introduced large-scale and soft constraints that reflect the nature of the shift requirements of this program by specifying the most appropriate program. The required data were obtained from the selected NGCCPP and the model solutions were approved by the plant experts. The SSP⁻ANP⁻GP model was resolved at a reasonable time. Monthly acquisition time was significantly reduced, and the satisfaction of the employees was significantly increased by using the obtained program. When past studies were examined, it was determined that a shift scheduling problem of this size in the energy sector had not previously been studied.

Objective: An understanding of the distribution of blood groups in a city is useful for individuals in need. In this study, we aimed to determine the distribution rates of ABO and Rh blood groups in İstanbul Province.Methods: This retrospective study was conducted by investigating the records of 6041 healthy blood donors who visited the Bezmialem Vakif University Faculty of Medicine, Blood Bank, between 1st January, 2011 and 31st December, 2013. ABO and Rh blood groups were examined by lam agglutination, micro plate agglutination, or gel centrifugation methods.Results: In this study, the frequency of the blood groups A, O, B, and AB were found to be 43.44%, 33.02%, 15%, and 8.54%, respectively. Rh (+) positivity was determined in 5192 cases (85.95%) and Rh (-) negativity was determined in 849 cases (14.05%). The frequency of intra-group Rh was found to be 87.84% of Rh (+) and 12.16% of Rh (-) in blood group A, 87.52% of Rh (+) and 14.48% of Rh (-) in blood group O, 82.12% of Rh (+) and 17.88% of Rh (-) in blood group B, and 76.94% of Rh (+) and 23.06% of Rh (-) in blood group AB. A majority of the blood donors were males (92.42%), and 69.28% were in the age group of 25–44 years.Conclusion: ABO and Rh blood group distribution rates in our region were similar to the general rates in Turkey. There was a positive correlation between the frequency of ABO blood group type and Rh positivity rate in each group. We believe that the present study will contribute to the literature with respect to the database of blood groups.

This study focuses on Business Intelligence (BI) systems and investigates their benefits in the matter of better decision making for corporations. BI systems are computer-based decision support tools that analyse business data and generate meaningful information in order to incorporate decision making. BI systems work in parallel with existing information systems of the companies. As a matter of fact, BI systems are the next steps to be established on existing operational information systems. In this context, the purpose of this study is to examine the yield of BI systems for the companies tended to implement decision support systems aligned with their operational information systems. To investigate this phenomenon, an empirical study will be conducted among some companies in production sector in Turkey. The companies’ actual implementations will be highlighted by the help of the questionnaire to be applied to those companies. Moreover, in the case study, BI system alternatives will be compared as per specifically defined criteria. In this manner, Multi criteria decision making approach will be used and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Fuzzy AHP (FAHP) methods will be applied for the selection of the best alternative. Higher education students need financial support from various sources to meet their needs throughout their education life. Besides non-profit organizations and governmental authorities, public charities provide scholarships to students with financial difficulties. These institutions give scholarships to a few students chosen from a pool of applicants based on various criteria. This study develops a model for selecting the most suitable higher-education students applying for a scholarship at a public charity organization. The organization takes applications on an annual basis. A total of eight selection criteria are determined based on literature review and expert opinions. Multi-criteria decision-making methods of AHP, SAW, and TOPSIS are employed to identify scholarship recipients. AHP is used to weigh the selection criteria. The ranking of applicants is achieved by SAW and TOPSIS. The opinions of the members of the organization's board of directors are used throughout the study. Amaç: Bu çalışmada sağlık çalışanlarının hasta hakları ve ilgili ihlal raporları hakkındaki farkındalıklarının ve bunu etkileyen faktörlerin değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır.Gereç ve Yöntemler: 3. basamak sağlık hizmeti veren devlet hastanelerinde görev yapan sağlık çalışanlarında amp;quot;Hasta Hakları Yönetmeliği amp;quot;ni temel alan bir çalışma formu oluşturuldu. Bu çalışmada sağlık çalışanlarının Demografik özellikleri ile hasta haklarıyla ilgili bilgi düzeyleri ve hasta haklarıyla ilgili kural ihlalleri hakkındaki durumları değerlendirildi.Bulgular: Araştırmaya katılan 263 katılımcının 212'si (% 80.6) kadın, yaş ortalamaları 34.2±8.8 ve hasta hakları ile ilgili aldıkları toplam puan ortalamaları 67.9±11.2 idi. 149 katılımcı (59.1%) iyi düzeyde bilgilenmiş olduklarına inanıyorlardı, fakat diğerleriyle kıyaslandığında benzer ihlal raporları vardı (p gt;0.05). Bu çalışmada, İstanbul Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesinde çalışan hizmetlilerin el hijyeni ve koruyucu ekipman kullanımlarını tayin ve rapor etmeyi amaçladık. The development time, survivoship and reproduction of Tuberolachnus salignus (Gmelin)( Lachninae: Lachnini) were studied on Salix alba at fi ve constant temperatures (17.5°C, 20°C, 22.5°C, 25°C and 27.5°C ). The developmental time of immature stages ranged from 17.00 days at 17.5°C to 12.21 days at 25°C on Salix alba. The total percentage of survivorship of immature stages varied from 50% and 70% 17.5°C -20°C on S. alba. The largest r m valueoccurred with 0.2540 at 20°C on S. alba. The mean generation time of the population ranged from 13.595 days at 22.5°C to 19.60 days at 17.5°C on S. alba. The optimal temperature for Tuberolachnus salignus was 20°C.

This study was performed to determine the effects of the densification process and glue type in wood material on dowel tensile performance. For this purpose, 8 mm and 10 mm diameter dowels were obtained from black poplar (Populus nigra) and Eastern spruce (Picea orientalis L.), which were densified at 50% and 75% ratios. The dowels were bonded with PVAc and D-VTKA glue separately after drilling 18 mm deep holes in the edge of the melamine-coated particleboard. The tensile performance test was determined with the Universal test device according to TS 2475 and ASTM-D 1035 principles. As a result, Eastern spruce wood had the highest tensile performance (kg/cm2), and poplar wood had the lowest (173.66). For the dowel diameter parameter, the highest value (195.11) was found at 8 mm in diameter and the lowest value (161.05) was found at 10 mm in diameter. In terms of glue type, the highest value (185.92) was seen at PVAc while the lowest value (170.24) was seen at D-VTKA. And for the densification ratios, the highest value (191.4) was determined at 75%, while the lowest value was found in control samples at (167.4). According to the wood species, densification ratio, dowel diameter and glue type interaction, the highest value was determined at Es + d75% + 10mm + PVAc as (303.5) and the lowest value was found at P + d50% + 10mm + Dv as (110). As a result, where the dowel's high tensile performance is sought, using a 10 mm diameter dowel made from 75% densified spruce wood with PVAc glue may be advantageous. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
