The only source of revenue for mining is the sale of its reserves. Therefore, a particular quantity of reserves and a specific selling price will generate a certain income. However, these income determinants are very unpredictable. Theoretically, real options (RO) substitute the discounted cash flow (DCF) approach to account for this uncertainty. Generally, RO quantify the uncertainty particularly related to price volatility. However, owing to its mathematical intricacy and application, the utility of RO is minimal. In addition, historical data analysis cannot be applied for spatial uncertainty related to grade uncertainty. Conventional RO approaches, such as the Black–Scholes method and lattice valuation technique, cannot measure a project with multiple uncertainties. In addition, these methods are mathematically complex and not sufficiently flexible for practical adaptation. This study proposes originality on simulation technique called stratified state aggregation (SSA) development that combined price and grade uncertainties in estimating the value of mining projects. For case study, a tin mining project of PT Timah Tbk in Indonesia was undertaken, specifically for short-term mine planning in underwater mining operations at two mining locations. We utilized the historical data natural logarithmic analysis to determine price uncertainty and conditional simulation to evaluate grade uncertainty. Our results indicated that mining uncertainties might be modeled using RO and value-added through SSA can be used to assess multi-uncertainty and multi-stage mining (rainbow option). The SSA decision aligned with the DCF method with improvement in uncertainty assessment. Objective: This text presents an in-depth analysis of the theoretical and practical aspects of the discounted cash flow method and its applicability in evaluation processes. Method: As it is a theoretical article, it draws on extensive literature and knowledge accumulated by the author over the years, much of it in undergraduate and postgraduate disciplines. Results or Discussion: After a thorough exploration of the two pillars of the method - the discount rate and the cash flow - it becomes evident that the main methods widely adopted in the literature offer consistent results, supported by solid theoretical foundations. I bring a critical discussion about three crucial aspects for the practical application of this method. The first aspect highlights the use of multiples, revealing how this approach can, in certain cases, introduce significant distortions in the evaluation results. Next, I address the issue of the capital cost of free cash flow, demonstrating the importance of calculating this metric on the correct basis, using market values, instead of relying on historical values. Finally, I explore how the method can be effectively used in the value creation process, highlighting how this capacity can be perceived through the method's generic expressions. Contributions: It is clear that, despite advances in research, there is still ample space in the literature for a more detailed and specific analysis of the challenges and opportunities associated with the use of discounted cash flow. This text reinforces the continued importance of this approach in the field of financial evaluation and highlights the need for constant improvement to guarantee solid and reliable results. The construction industry has demonstrated resilience during the pandemic, becoming a global economic engine. Indonesia's PT Waskita Karya Tbk, a state-owned construction company, reported negative financial performance in its annual report, indicating a decline in revenues. As a public corporation, the company must maintain excellent financial performance and offer opportunities for shareholders. The movement of SOE's Construction shares with the code WSKT has also experienced a downward trend. Based on the dynamics of the business environment, the purpose of this research is to gain a deeper understanding of the Indonesian construction industry to identify Waskita Karya's challenges and opportunities. In addition, the study will determine the company's intrinsic and relative value if it defaults on its debts. The research will compute the company's value using the discounted cash flow (DCF) method and comparable companies. The study analyzes the impact of bond payment delays on Waskita Karya's financial performance, examining how these delays affect cash flow, liquidity, and overall financial health. The study focuses on the company stock valuation of PT. Waskita Karya Tbk and the impact caused by bond payment delays. The findings provide valuable insights for investors, stakeholders, and financial analysts, helping them make informed decisions about their investment in Waskita Karya's and better understand associated risks and opportunities. In conclusion, using the discounted cash flow analysis method, the implied value per share is IDR 550.22. Using the relative valuation method, the implied value of EV/Revenue per share is IDR 38 and EV/EBITDA per share is IDR 495, while the P/E and PBV values are IDR 625 and IDR 23, respectively. Delays in bond payments can negatively affect Waskita Karya's financial performance, causing liquidity constraints, increased interest expenses, and downgraded credit ratings. To mitigate these issues, Waskita must address delays, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and implement financial restructuration programs. Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs) are crucial players in achieving a circular economy. MRFs receive complex waste streams and separate valuable recyclables from these mixtures. This study conducts techno-economic analysis (TEA) to estimate the net present value (NPV) and life cycle assessment (LCA) to estimate different environmental impacts of a commercial scale standalone, single-stream MRF to assess the economic feasibility and environmental impacts of recovering valuable recyclables from an MRF processing 120,000 tonnes per year (t/y). The TEA employs a discounted cash flow rate of return (DCFROR) analysis over a 20-year facility lifetime, along with a sensitivity analysis on the impact of different operating and economic parameters. Results show that the total fixed cost of building the MRF facility is $23 MM, and the operating cost is $45.48/tonne. The NPV of the MRF can vary from $3.57 MM to $60 MM, while 100-year global warming potential can range from 5.98 to 8.53 kg carbon dioxide equivalents (CO2-eq) per tonne of MSW. We have also found that MSW composition (arising from regional effects) significantly impacts costs, 100-year global warming potential, and other impact categories such as acidification potential, eutrophication potential, ecotoxicity, ozone depletion, photochemical oxidation, carcinogenic effects, and non-carcinogenic effects. Sensitivity and uncertainty analysis indicate that waste composition and market prices significantly impact the profitability of the MRF, and the waste composition mostly impacts global warming potential. Our analysis also indicates that facility capacity, fixed capital cost, and waste tipping fees are vital parameters that affect the economic viability of MRF operations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

According to IVS 2023 the terminal value of a DCFA can be calculated in respect of the three fundamental appraisal approach: market, income and cost. Specifi- cally, "Where the asset is expected to continue beyond the explicit forecast period, valuers must estimate the value of the asset at the end of that period. The terminal value is then discounted back to the valuation date, normally using the same discount rate as applied to the forecast cash flow" (IVS 105 Valuation Approaches and Methods, para 50.20). Although academic and professional normally refer to direct capitalization to calculate the exit value (scrap value, going out value) different approaches are possible. In particular it is possible to calculate the exit value using the market approach. The present work starts from an original model of Discounted Cash Flow Analysis proposed by Simonotti (2006) to propose possible alternative to the original formula. The model proposed, as defined for the paper "Prudential Value DCFA Formula (PVF)" provides methodological alternatives to the original model in order to apply the method in different property market conditions allowing the appraiser to represent even property market in recovery or falling market phase, or prudential assessment of worth and opinion of value. In particular the proposed model replace the compound growth of the property value included in the traditional Simonotti's model, with a linear growth or even a combination of both. The paper emphasize how property valuation standards can not be considered as immutable but they may be considered in constant evolution. In delivering an opinion of value for mortgage lending purposes the approach of professional academician and real estate analyst need to be able to respond to change of external conditions, in consideration of the sustainability of the cash flows in the long term, for the entire duration of the loan (and therefore for the purpose of identifying the long-term sustainable value of the asset). Many states exempt intangible personal property (IPP). Often people conflate, combine, and confuse IPP with goodwill when those are distinct concepts. Furthermore, to apply the IPP exemption, many people attempt to estimate IPP and goodwill value using ad hoc solutions. This article proposes a simple and transparent method, the enterprise value to invested capital (EVIC) multiple, to estimate the taxable property's value. The multiple's algebraic equivalence, advantages, simplicity, and transparency compared to the discounted cash flow (DCF) method, without "slippery inputs," is discussed. The model values tangible property according to the law of one price and IPP values are correlated with the firm's expected profitability. The paper uses publicly available data from the airline, electric, gas distribution, pipeline, railroad, telecom, and wireless industries are used as examples to demonstrate valuation accuracy and consistency across companies for tangible property values and excluding IPP values. The model is most useful for utility sectors and industrial properties that have a combination of real, personal, and intangible personal property where tangible assets are a key value driver. Current theories of the discount rate have a theoretical basis focused on risk; risk-free rate and risk premium. The basic component of the discount rate, the risk-free rate as purely empirical has a natural infirmity which consequently weakens the final theory. Similarly, the risk premium category is not theoretically perfect. The fundamental shortcoming is that the theory of the discount rate does not relate to fundamental knowledge of capital and the natural rate of its potential growth. Therefore, the purpose of the discussion is to justify the discount rate structure with the constant of potential growth of capital; a = 0.08 [1/year] as the main component. Modern retail businesses in Indonesia are growing rapidly thanks to open market opportunities, manufacturing businesses that support product supply, and government support for economic growth through retail development. The purpose of this study is to determine the intrinsic value of shares of companies engaged in the food and staples retail sub-sector which in this case is represented by PT. Sumber Alfaria Trijaya, Tbk. (AMRT), PT. Diamond Food Indonesia, Tbk. (DMND), PT. Midi Utama Indonesia, Tbk. (MIDI), PT. Enseval Putera Megatrading, Tbk. (EPMT), and PT. Millenium Pharmacon Internatioanl, Tbk. (SDPC) listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). This research uses historical data for 2018-2022 which will be used as the basis for projections for 2023-2027. The results showed that by using the Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) method, specifically the Free Cash Flow to Firm (FCFF) approach, under an optimistic scenario, the intrinsic values of AMRT, SDPC, and DMND were undervalued. EPMT and MIDI stocks are overvalued. In the moderate scenario, the intrinsic values of AMRT, MIDI, EPMT, and DMND are overvalued, while SDPC is undervalued. Calculations on a pessimistic scenario, all companies studied are overvalued. In this study, the valuation of stocks was also conducted using the Relative Valuation (RV) method with the Price to Earnings Ratio (PER) and Price to Book Value (PBV) approaches. In an optimistic scenario, the stocks of AMRT, MIDI, and SDPC are considered expensive, while EPMT and DMND are seen cheap. In a moderat scenario, the stocks AMRT, EPMT, and SDPC are considered undervalued, while MIDI and DMND are seen expensive. In a pessimistic scenario, it is observed that AMRT, EPMT, and SDPC are undervalued, whereas MIDI and DMND are considered overvalued. The last decade has seen escalating criticism of international investment arbitration.[1] Even actors central to the functioning of the investment arbitration regime, and often profiting from it, now accept a need for change.[2] Despite this vital debate, the number of arbitration claims each year is increasing and States continue to sign investment treaties with arbitration clauses. As forecast by the contributors here, investment arbitration should be retired so the manner of resolution of investment disputes can be redesigned, initially at the national or regional levels, in ways that are freed from a 25-year legacy of investor-centred imbalances. Instead of reforming investment arbitration and maintaining the existing one-way adversarial regime, a new model of investment governance should be developed to ensure local participation before, during and after investment projects. The currently implemented indiscriminate subsidy policy in China is difficult to provide effective incentives for a firm's investment behavior because it does not take into account the differences in resource characteristics. Thus, this paper puts forward a type of differentiated subsidy that considers resource conditions, consisting of a basic guaranteed subsidy and a variable incentive subsidy. First, from the perspective of the economic efficiency of enterprises, the amount of basic subsidy required by enterprises is calculated by the discounted cash flow method. Then, from the government's perspective, a variable incentive subsidy amount is calculated by establishing an expectation benefit maximization function using principal-agent theory. The case application shows that due to the superior resources and development conditions of the Fuling block, it requires a significantly smaller subsidy amount than the Weiyuan block which verifies the need to consider regional differences in the design of shale gas development subsidies. As both investment attraction and mergers and acquisitions targeting information technology and platform companies are becoming more important in the digital-centric economic environment, interest in valuing corporate data assets is increasing. Accordingly, among the income approaches used in business valuation, this study presents a data valuation model based on discounted cash flow. This model is expected to be useful for corporate investment decision-making. The assumptions used in this study for the estimation of data income include intangible asset value, exclude net asset value, and data attribution is centered on technology, human resources, and market factors. In particular, data attribution accounts comprise ordinary data research and development, data labor costs, and data advertising expenses. Data costs were divided into those incurred during collection, storage, curation, analysis, and utilization. Financial statements and related data from a real estate information platform operator over three years were collected and used to simulate the data valuation model. The simulation reveals that the operator possesses KRW 472.6 billion in data assets. Ultimately, the data valuation model developed in this study can contribute to strengthening platform operators' investment attraction, guaranteeing financial sustainability, and transparency and data assetization. Using textual analysis for a large sample of analyst reports on U.S. firms, we find that analysts are more likely to use a discounted cash flow (DCF) model and to discuss more cash flow and discount rate information for firms with more uncertainty, as measured by earnings quality and firm risks. The market reactions to target price changes based on a DCF model are stronger, particularly for firms with greater valuation uncertainty and when the analysts present more cash flow and discount rate discussions. These results indicate that the analyst valuation process reflects investors' information demand under uncertainty and has a bearing on the informativeness of analyst research. The objective of our paper is to analyze, how valuation practice deals with inflation especially for the terminal value, and how company value is influenced by assumptions set by practitioners. For that reason, we examine how vulnerable companies could be regarding struggles to pass on inflationary effects to their customers. We analyze the inflation rates assumed for the steady-state (terminal value) by comparing them to different estimators for the inflation rate expected at the valuation date (Survey of Professional Forecasters, inflation rates derived by comparing real and nominal rate of returns, inflation swaps). We quantify the implications of using different inflation rates for future cash flow development, terminal value and the company value at the valuation date, and compare nominal reported values with company values in a (hypothetical) world without inflation. Our sample consists of 263 valuation reports written by German auditors with valuation dates between 2000 to 2021. Most of the reports aim at determining the price per share to compensate minority shareholders during a squeeze-out. Our results question inter alia the preference for a constant company specific inflation rate of around 1% on average, and we quantify a number of value effects. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: There is extensive evidence for the cost-effectiveness of programmatic and additional tuberculosis (TB) interventions, but no studies have employed the social return on investment (SROI) methodology. We conducted a SROI analysis to measure the benefits of a community health worker (CHW) model for active TB case finding and patient-centered care. Methods: This mixed-method study took place alongside a TB intervention implemented in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam, between October-2017 – September-2019. The valuation encompassed beneficiary, health system and societal perspectives over a 5-year time-horizon. We conducted a rapid literature review, two focus group discussions and 14 in-depth interviews to identify and validate pertinent stakeholders and material value drivers. We compiled quantitative data from the TB program's and the intervention's surveillance systems, ecological databases, scientific publications, project accounts and 11 beneficiary surveys. We mapped, quantified and monetized value drivers to derive a crude financial benefit, which was adjusted for four counterfactuals. We calculated a SROI based on the net present value (NPV) of benefits and investments using a discounted cash flow model with a discount rate of 3.5%. A scenario analysis assessed SROI at varying discount rates of 0-10%. Results: The mathematical model yielded NPVs of US$235,511 in investments and US$8,497,183 in benefits. This suggested a return of US$36.08 for each dollar invested, ranging from US$31.66-US39.00 for varying discount rate scenarios. Conclusions: The evaluated CHW-based TB intervention generated substantial individual and societal benefits. As an indicator of the sustainability of the company's development, an indicator of its value is proposed, reflecting the dynamics of the financial health of the company and the ability of its management to create value for shareholders and other stakeholders. An increase in the value of an enterprise can serve as an indicator of improving production efficiency, introducing new technologies and processes, increasing the customer base and diversifying the business. The applicability of the enterprise business value indicator as an integral indicator of sustainable development is substantiated. The hypothesis is considered that in the framework of business assessment, the influence of ESG factors should be taken into account by adjusting the cash flows of the enterprise and the discount rate as an indicator reflecting the risks of obtaining (forming) these cash flows, while the risk accounting areas should be correctly divided in order to avoid double accounting. The expediency of calculating the validity of a block of shares or a share of an enterprise for sale (Discount for lack of marketability (illiquidity), DLOM) when evaluating a business, instead of a discount on liquidity, has been proved, which, when making final adjustments, should be calculated using a multiplicative formula together with a discount on the non-controlling nature of a block of shares; ESG factors when calculating the validity of a block of shares or the shares of the enterprise for sale are proposed to be taken into account using the "Mandelbaum factors". Authors have described selected problems related to valuation and value creation of Internet related companies. In case of intangible assets related to the new economy and Internet companies, valuation is usually much more complicated due to rapid volatility, limited historical information and constantly emerging new technologies that change the image of the market. The same situation is in case of young companies, which current, tangible assets are of little value, while the value of the company is concentrated in intangible assets and development options The paper presents general valuation indicators for Internet companies, which are a root point for a client division allowing a further model improvement. Based on the Internet companies evaluation indicators review, authors decided that for this proposal, the division between one-time (non-loyal) and repetitive (loyal) customers is of the greatest use. Following, the method of valuing companies based on valuation of Customer Lifetime Value was described. Considering different kinds of the Internet clients, a valuation model for one time and continuous relation was proposed. Authors suggest modifying traditional model by dividing the customers into two segments. The consumer's loyalty measured by behavioral outcome - the frequency of purchase is the criteria of segmentation. Such segmentation allows better extrapolation of company's value. During the COVID-19 pandemic, more than 24 billion pieces of surgical mask waste (WM) were generated in the EU region, with an acute shortage of their management and recycling. Pyrolysis and gasification are among the most promising treatments that were proposed to dispose of WMs and convert them into pyrolysis oil and hydrogen-rich syngas. This work aimed to investigate the techno-economic analysis (TEA) of both treatments in order to assess the feasibility of scaling up. The TEA was carried out using a discounted cash flow model and its data were collected from practical experiments conducted using a fluidised bed pyrolysis reactor and bubbling fluidised bed gasifier system with a capacity of 0.2 kg/h and 1 kg/h, respectively, then upscaling to one tonne/h. The technological evaluation was made based on the optimal conditions that could produce the maximum amount of pyrolysis oil (42.3%) and hydrogen-rich syngas (89.7%). These treatments were also compared to the incineration of WMs as a commercial solution. The discounted payback, simple payback, net present value (NPV), production cost, and internal rate of return (IRR) were the main indicators used in the economic feasibility analysis. Sensitivity analysis was performed using SimLab software with the help of Monte Carlo simulations. The results showed that the production cost of the main variables was estimated at 45.4 EUR/t (gate fee), 71.7 EUR/MWh (electricity), 30.5 EUR/MWh (heat), 356 EUR/t (oil), 221 EUR/t (gaseous), 237 EUR/t (char), and 257 EUR/t (syngas). Meanwhile, the IRR results showed that gasification (12.51%) and incineration (7.56%) have better economic performance, while pyrolysis can produce less revenue (1.73%). Nuclear assisted low carbon hydrogen production by water electrolysis represents a potential application of nuclear cogeneration towards deep decarbonization of several fossil fuel-dependent industrial sectors. This work builds a probabilistic techno-commercial model of a water electrolysis plant coupled to an existing nuclear reactor for base load operations. The objective is to perform discounted cash flow (DCF) calculations for levelized nuclear hydrogen production cost under input parameter uncertainty. The probability distributions of inputs are used with the Monte Carlo-Latin Hypercube (MC-LH) sampling technique to generate 105 input scenarios and corresponding distribution of the levelized or life cycle hydrogen production cost instead of deterministic point values. Based on current techno-economic conditions, the levelized production costs of electrolytic hydrogen using electricity from large water-cooled nuclear reactors are determined to be US $ 12.205 ± 1.342, 8.384 ± 1.148 and 6.385 ± 1.051/kg H 2 respectively at rated alkaline water electrolyser capacities of 1.25 MW(e), 2.5 MW(e) and 5 MW(e). The corresponding values for PEM water electrolysers are US $ 13.162 ± 1.356, 8.891 ± 1.141 and 6.663 ± 1.057/kg H 2. Post Covid-19 era, the financial performance of PT Bumi Serpong Damai Tbk showed a good condition, the evidence is the increase in company profitability and decline in the debt. This condition encourages the writer to research PT Bumi Serpong Damai Tbk stock valuation and whether the share is classified as overvalued or undervalued. The methodology to process the data is Discounted Cash Flow valuation method to find the actual intrinsic value and value-added intrinsic value, to find the fair value using the Net Asset Value valuation method. Objective - This paper aims to examine the theoretical and practical aspects of the widely used discounted cash flow (DCF) valuation method. Methodology - The proposed method is probably the most widely used approach in the valuation of unlisted companies. It involves estimating the future cash flows that the company is expected to generate and discounting them to their present value using a discount rate. The study was conducted on Spanish olive oil companies between 2005 and 2020. Findings - Our results show that there are two values for valuing companies: static and dynamic values. Both values are calculated based on the sum of the updated cash value plus the remaining value. The static value provides only one value, while the dynamic value provides a range of values, resulting in a more accurate understanding of a company's value and a better comprehension of the risks associated with that value. Therefore, the company is considered a cash flow generator, and the value of the company is found by calculating the present value of these flows using an appropriate discount rate. Novelty - Despite this method being a powerful tool for evaluating companies, even in complex situations, the DCF method is subject to a significant assumption bias, and even slight changes in the underlying assumptions of the analysis can greatly alter the evaluation results. This paper aims to investigate how different emotions affect the subsequent index futures returns. We test the forecasting regressions which predict the S&P 500 index futures returns with lagged text‐based emotion (anger, joy, fear, optimism, and gloom) indices and find asymmetric forecasting power exists between pessimism and optimism emotion indices. We show that only the text‐based anger index could reliably perform at predicting index futures return in‐sample and outperform the prevailing unconditional mean out‐of‐sample. Notably, the predictive power of the text‐based anger index persists after controlling for other emotion indices, investor sentiment indices, and fundamental variables known to predict the futures market. And the asset allocation conditioning on text‐based anger index can generate substantial economic benefits. Many industrial sectors were severely affected during the pandemic, which lasted from 2020 to 2021. Such indicators can be observed in various companies implementing efficiency measures ranging from cost reduction unrelated to revenue growth to layoff policies. Despite being under pressure due to the pandemic, many industrial subsectors experienced significant growth in the second quarter of 2021, according to statistics from the Ministry of Industry. This study aims to determine the fair value of shares in Industrial Goods companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. This approach uses a discounted cash flow (DCF) methodology with free cash flow to the company and relative valuation through price-to-earnings and price-to-book ratios. From 2017 to 2021, historical financial data was utilized to forecast future income and expenditure behavior in three scenarios: optimistic, moderate, and pessimistic. The results showed that the DCF-FCFF technique underestimated IMPC, ARNA, and UNTR. MARK is overvalued in pessimistic, moderate, and optimistic scenarios, while MARK is undervalued in optimistic scenarios. HEXA is overvalued in the pessimistic scenario but undervalued in the moderate and optimistic scenario. ARNA and UNTR were overvalued in all relative assessment scenarios using the PER approach, but MARK and HEXA were undervalued. IMPC is undervalued in a gloomy scenario and overpriced in a moderate and optimistic scenario. In all cases, the PBV method overestimates IMPC, ARNA, MARK, HEXA, and UNTR. The study implies that investors should conduct thorough due diligence before making investment decisions, considering company-specific factors and broader market conditions. Companies in the Industrial Goods sector must be ready to adapt to changing market dynamics and prioritize long-term value creation to attract and maintain investor confidence. This paper introduces a new method, different from the discounted cash flow (DCF) method, for the first time, to estimate NPV and IRR. This method makes use of the capital amortization schedule (CAS). Accordingly, the present value (PV) of the closing balance (CB) in a CAS at a particular discount rate is the NPV at that rate and the interest rate that makes the CB zero is the IRR. CAS method also reveals that NPV represents the unutilised net cash flow (NCF) that remains as the CB in CAS. IRR is the only rate that fully utilize the NCF and makes the CB zero. The estimated NPV and IRR by CAS and DCF methods are perfectly matching in all cases of small or large-scale investments and under the financial and or economic analysis of investments. The CAS method is more transparent than the DCF method and provides a better insight into: a. evidence of reinvestment of intermediate income in some normal NCF and most non-normal NCF (NNCF) investments; b. elimination of the reinvestment income to get a unique IRR that resolves the problem of multiple IRR; and c. to identify the appropriate criterion between IRR and NPV, as NPV indicates the unutilised NCF whereas IRR indicates the return on invested capital (ROIC) by fully utilizing the NCF. The investors are comfortable to compare the IRR with the cost of capital in percentage term. As the modified IRR (MIRR) assumes reinvestment, MIRR might become redundant if there is no reinvestment and this is an incidental inference drawn.

Turkey has rapidly become one of the top markets for onshore wind energy with a 10 GW onshore wind power installation, a significant accomplishment for the nation. It means that Turkey's wind energy capacity has more than tenfold increase in the last 10 years. Despite the fact that Turkey has no offshore wind farms, research has indicated a significant and untapped energy potential. This work provides a comprehensive techno-economic analysis of the Samandag Offshore Wind Farm (OWF) project in Turkey. To undertake an economic feasibility study under different Feed-in Tariffs (FiT) and discount rates, a discounted cash flow economic model is utilized. This study takes into consideration the economic indicators utilized in decision-making processes from the perspective of an OWF investor. The planned OWF project is shown to be economically viable only provided specific techno-economic prerequisites are satisfied. Samandag City has a lower levelized cost of energy (LCOE), which is roughly $69.97/MWh, according to the findings. However, the findings show that the net present value (NPV) is very sensitive to discount rates and FiT. Existing valuation methods are examined as to how flexibility and marketing options are taken into account. The degree of uncertainty associated with the value of a company plays a relevant role in valuation analysis. We propose an original and robust methodology for company market valuation, which replaces the traditional point estimate of the conventional Discounted Cash Flow model with a probability distribution of fair values that convey information about both the expected value of the company and its intrinsic uncertainty. Our methodology depends on two main ingredients: an econometric model for company revenues and a set of firm-specific balance sheet relations that are estimated using historical data. We explore the effectiveness and scope of our methodology through a series of statistical exercises on publicly traded U.S. companies. At the firm level, we show that the fair value distribution derived with our methodology constitutes a reliable predictor of the company's future abnormal returns. At the market level, we show that a long-short valuation (LSV) factor, built using buy-sell recommendations based on the fair value distribution, contains information not accessible through the traditional market factors. This study aims to compare the market value of private firms and publicly listed small and medium-sized firms (SMEs) in alternative stock markets through a private discount approach with estimates of value based on discounted cash flow projections and along with a comparable multiples approach. The valuation methodology applied in this study yielded a final sample that included 232 observations between public and private companies in the Spanish market. To calculate the discount, we apply the different approaches of discounted cash flow and multiples, such as valuation, earnings, book value, and revenue. Our results conclude there is no private discount, instead, the outcomes of this article suggest a premium over public firms for some ratios. The negative private company discounts mean a premium and, on the other hand, some multiples suggest a discount according to the method of valuation. This paper proves private discounts resulted does not have any comparable value within the same country although all firms in Spain use the same currency. We value the discounted cash flows of our forecasts using a discount rate based on the Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM), so our study can also be viewed as a test sensitivity of CAPM-based approaches to equity risk premium, terminal value, and growth rate. This study investigates the feasibility of rice straw for energy production in Cambodia. The potential areas for a 10 MW biomass-fired power plant installation are estimated based on rice straw availability displayed in a graphic information system (GIS). The discounted cash flow (DCF) method on the profitability index (PI) was executed by Mathlab software, which was used to determine the period of the power plant profitability. The reduction of CO and CO2 emissions from the proposed rice straw biomass-fired power plant with 10 MW capacity was calculated and compared with the coal-fired power plant and open field burning. Prey Veng, Takeo, and Battambang are potential provinces that have an estimated rice straw source of 804,796 t/annum, 720,040 t/annum, and 603,273 t/annum, respectively. Within a 20-year project, the biomass-fired power plant can reach profitability between six and ten years with the operation of the rice-straw price of 20 USD/t to 40 USD/t. The total energy produced by these potential areas is 1251 GWh/annum, with a CO2 emission avoidance of 1.06 million t/annum compared to the coal-fired power plant operation. Simultaneously, the emission savings of the biomass-fired power plant compared to open-field burning are 0.61 million t/annum of CO2 and 0.02 million t/annum of CO in the study site. It is difficult to address the requirements of SGs with most conventional load scheduling algorithms because they lack robustness and performance in complex environments. An evaluation of the benefits and costs of optimizing such parameters was carried out in this paper and the Reinforcement Learning (RL) algorithm is applied to solve the optimization problem. An individual user in a dynamic electrical market was examined as an SEH in support of the suggested approach. The conventional hydrothermal carbonisation (HTC) is mainly tied to the high capital investment of the reactor and low product quality. In a novel approach, the rapid subcritical HTC of paunch waste (at 240 °C for only 5 min) was proposed to enhance the quality of products and their utilisation via in-situ production of magnetic hydrochar. Magnetite nanoparticles were found on the surface of hydrochar with size of 10–20 nm and crystal lattice spacing of 0.25 nm, XRD characteristic peaks of magnetite, and strong FTIR peak at 580 cm−1 assigned to Fe-O stretching in the crystalline lattice of magnetite. Magnetic hydrochar could adsorb Congo Red at a capacity of 59.9 mg g−1. An organic-rich process water with a high COD of 43 g L−1 was co-generated along with magnetic hydrochar and assumed to be anaerobically digested. The estimated theoretical methane yield was found sufficient to run the HTC plant in an energy-neutral mode. After developing a process model in Aspen plus, the discounted cash flow analysis revealed a net present value of US$13.04 MM for 30 years of operation, which can increase to $34.79 MM if the iron precursors are sourced from locally available iron-rich sludge. An economic feasibility study must consider the uncertainties inherent to a mining project, whose risks must be quantified properly to enable accurate decisionmaking. Studies previously carried out through the Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) methodology in the project evaluated here - a quarry whose operations are currently interrupted, located in Pernambuco, Brazil, formerly taxed under the presumed profit regime - indicated a positive Net Present Value (NPV) in the deterministic scenario, therefore projecting a profitable project. However, a probabilistic analysis using Monte Carlo simulations indicated only a 49.98% occurrence probability for this NPV. An assessment focused on the company's taxation was never carried out, which is a gap that the present study intends to fill, in addition to evaluating the feasibility of immediate investment in this project. Furthermore, this is a gap in Brazilian literature in general, which does not take into account the taxation system in their economic assessments. In this context, considering scenarios whose taxation was based on real and presumed profit regimes, we reassessed the cash flows of this quarry and performed deterministic and probabilistic economic analyses, and compared the results of both scenarios. The sensitivity analysis indicated that the production rate would be the most impactful variable in the project's NPV, considering the six variables assessed. Hence, it was verified in both deterministic and probabilistic analyses that taxation under real profit, results in a higher economic return with a 56.08% probability of the NPV being positive and with the Internal Rate of Return (IRR) higher than inflation (SELIC rate) at 4.81%; the taxation under the presumed profit, on the other hand, obtained respective probabilities of 46.54% and 3.23%. However, with the chances of obtaining some profit (NPV greater than zero) at the order of 50% and a minimal chance of the IRR being greater than the SELIC rate adopted at the time of this study, we would advise against investing in this venture. Moreover, even if the current moment is not the most suitable for investment in this sector, regardless of the production rate assessed in the probabilistic analysis, taxation on the real profit regime presented a greater economic return than taxation on the presumed profit regime., indicating that, for the parameters considered in this study, the first would be the most appropriate choice of tax system for this type of enterprise in Brazil. A multicenter, randomized controlled clinical trial evaluated the effectiveness of two treatments for deep caries lesions in permanent molars - selective caries removal (SCR) to soft dentin with restoration in a single visit, and stepwise excavation (SW) - regarding pulp vitality for a 5-year follow-up period. The present study aimed to determine the cost-effectiveness of these treatments. Treatments were conducted in two Brazilian cities (Brasília and Porto Alegre). At baseline, 299 permanent molars (233 patients) were treated and 229 teeth (174 patients) were evaluated after 5 years. The discounted cash flow method was adopted. The total cost of each treatment was calculated, and the failure cost (endodontic treatment + restoration) was added to the final cost, according to the 5-year failure rates of each therapy (20% for SCR and 44% for SW). A public health service unit composed of three dentists in 4-hour work shifts was used to calculate the monetary value of the treatments, assuming a total of 528 treatments/month. Considering the 229 teeth evaluated after 5 years (115 SCR and 114 SW), SCR provided savings of 43% (amalgam) and 41% (resin composite) per treatment, compared to SW. The SCR technique provides benefits for public finances (direct economy) and for public health services (increase in the number of treatments performed). Considering that maximizing profit and reducing costs are powerful motivating factors for adopting a certain treatment, this study provides data to better support the decision-making process, regarding the management of deep caries lesions in permanent molars. There is growing awareness that traditional valuation methods based on discounted cash flows using constant risk-adjusted discount rates struggle to account for climate-related risks when assessing long-term investments in physical assets and infrastructure. Worst yet, such methods fail to consider numerous financial benefits accruing from investment in resilience and adaptation, categorizing such expenditures as sunk costs that reduce investors' returns. Such traditional valuation methods encourage investors to postpone or forgo entirely investing in resilience and adaptation. The decoupled net present value (DNPV) method incorporates risk and risk-reduction measures into project valuations in clear and compelling financial terms. By quantifying both (i) risk exposures of assets to hazards and (ii) the reduction of such exposure through up-front investments, DNPV recasts the financial impact of risk-reduction measures. Thus, the benefits of risk-reducing investments such as adaptation and resilience can be fully valorized in project-level accounting, removing a significant barrier facing such investments today.
