This article presents scientific research news briefs as of December 2012. Amateur paleontologist Gloria Melanson discovered the fossilized tetrapod footprints of a juvenile Batrachichnus salamandroides amphibian at the Joggins Fossil Cliffs in Nova Scotia, Canada. The ENCODE research group has announced that they have successfully identified the function of 80 percent of the human genome. Scientists have discovered the first circumbinary multiplanet solar system, named Kepler-47.
