Purpose: Big data analytics (BDA) plays a crucial role in understanding customer behavior through Customer Relationship Management (CRM), especially in a rapidly changing business environment. This paper investigates the direct effect of BDA use on market performance, besides the mediating effect through Big Data-enabled CRM strategies adoption (e.g. customization and personalization). The paper also examines the moderating role of competitive intensity in these effects. Design/methodology/approach: Drawing from a knowledge-based view (KBV) and Organizational Information Processing Theory (OIPT), the authors formulated the research model. Subsequently, the measurement model and hypotheses were tested through PLS-SEM on online survey data of 229 managers from 167 companies out of Egypt's top 500. Findings: The results indicated that BDA use does not directly affect the market performance, but this effect was significant through customization and personalization strategies adoption. The results also revealed a positive association between BDA use and the adoption of these strategies. Furthermore, competitive intensity only moderates the relationship between BDA use and personalization strategy adoption. Research limitations/implications: Companies can use BDA to improve customer knowledge and experience through customization and personalization, leading to better market performance and moving towards becoming a Big Data-driven organization. This study is limited to companies in the Egyptian context, which restricts the generalizability of the results. Originality/value: This study conceptually and empirically explores how BDA usage, customization and personalization strategies impact market performance under competitive intensity situations, especially in the context of emerging markets. As a part of the preparation of human building capabilities in Egypt in neutronic calculations for power reactors, a preliminary step was to perform calculations on benchmark problems related to neutronics calculations on lattice and core levels. Monte Carlo codes are capable of calculating integral parameters allowing all geometrical details of each individual fuel pin of each fuel assembly to be modeled. However, when more detailed information is required, it becomes much more difficult to get reliable results with respect to the associated statistical uncertainty within an acceptable computation time. Nonetheless, this is the requirement of current design calculations of nuclear reactor core. In order to assess the problems of Monte Carlo results for pin power distribution, this paper presents the results of the calculations of the C5G7 NEA benchmark problem using Monte Carlo code MCNP5. The present calculations used 50 & 90 million histories and 0.354% & 0.312% RMS statistical pin power percent error were achieved for the three-dimensional configurations. Results were compared with similar published results. Good agreement was found for the value of keff with the reference solutions. For the pin power distribution, discrepancy is large for UO2 assembly. The results for MOX assembly are much better. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: The interevent-time (IET) and interevent-distance (IED) series of seismic events occurred at Aswan area (Egypt) from 2004 to 2010 were investigated by means of the Fisher Information Measure and the Shannon entropy. The analysis was performed varying the depth and the magnitude thresholds. The results point out to an increase of level of organization and order with the decrease of magnitude threshold and the increase of depth threshold for the IET series, while the IED series are characterized by a level of uncertainty approximately constant with the threshold magnitude. The complexity measure, calculated as the product of the Fisher Information Measure and the Shannon entropy power, presents very similar pattern for both the types of seismic series, indicating an increasing complexity with the decrease of the threshold magnitude and the increase of the threshold depth.
