Rapid economic growth, intense competition, and rising environmental concerns are compelling businesses to attain sustainable performance and preserve long‐run interests. Considering the lack of EO in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the emerging context of Pakistan, the present study investigates the impact of entrepreneurial orientation (EO) on sustainable business performance (economic, environmental, and social) by drawing perspective from dynamic capabilities and resource‐based views. The mediating role of innovation capabilities between EO‐sustainable performance and the moderating effect of technology dynamism on the EO‐innovation capabilities link is also examined. Data from 408 Pakistani SMEs was analyzed using the structural equation modeling. The findings reveal a direct positive influence of EO on sustainable performance. Furthermore, innovation capabilities are found to mediate the EO‐sustainable performance relationship, while technology dynamism positively moderates the EO‐innovation capabilities link. These results emphasize the importance of aligning EO with innovation capabilities to adapt to technological changes in the industrial regime. The theoretical contributions emphasize the importance of promoting EO‐innovation capabilities. Practical contributions imply that entrepreneurs should create an enabling environment that fosters innovation capabilities within SMEs to enhance sustainable performance, especially in resource‐constrained emerging settings. Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), especially those operating in the craft industry, often remain overlooked and receive minimal attention from researchers and policymakers even though they have an important role in increasing exports and employment in Indonesia. Nevertheless, craft MSMEs face significant challenges in maximizing innovation and enhancing competitiveness to improve financial performance. Hence, this study aims to investigate how innovation and firm competitiveness influence the financial performance of craft MSMEs. This study utilizes the SEM AMOS analysis tool with data from 403 business actors across three craft centers in West Java: Tasikmalaya, Majelengka, and Bandung. The findings reveal that product, process, and green innovation significantly influence and partially mediate the connection between entrepreneurial orientation and competitiveness. Competitiveness completely mediates the influence of product and green innovation on craft MSMEs' financial performance. Meanwhile, process innovation significantly impacts financial performance both directly and indirectly, emphasizing its importance in enhancing competitiveness and financial outcomes. Research has been done in Paranaque City on the relationship between organizational performance and entrepreneurial orientation, product innovation, and differentiation strategies. The purpose of this study was to identify potential strategies for creating small-business owners of successful coffee shops who could continue to provide high-quality goods and services. Based on a representative sample of 153 micro entrepreneurs aged 20 to 41 and above, an indication was obtained from the small coffee shop entrepreneurs' survey. Based on the entrepreneur's personal and business profile, the researcher used multiple linear regression technique to identify changes pertaining to business and small coffee shop entrepreneurs in terms of demographic features, entrepreneurial orientation, product innovation, and differentiation strategies, use of resources, organizational structure, and organizational performance. The findings demonstrated the empowerment of small coffee shop owners in Paraaque City, as evidenced by the independent variable of entrepreneurial orientation, the dependent variables of organizational performance and the entrepreneur's individual business profile, and the mediating variables of product innovation and differentiation strategies. In the context of globalization, it is not just large corporates that need to update their technologies and processes to maintain competitiveness. Small-to-medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) also need to innovate if they are to satisfy customer preferences in both domestic and foreign markets. Today, internationalization is considered to be an essential factor in promoting SME innovation. However, it is often difficult for SMEs to innovative with overseas customers because many lack easy access to foreign markets. Compared to other traditional entry modes, cross-border e-commerce, with its low costs and high levels of control, can help to remove some of the barriers to internationalization for SMEs. In turn, it may be that cross-border e-commerce also promotes innovation in these firms. We gathered data on 781 Chinese SMEs to test several hypotheses surrounding this notion. The results of panel regression estimates indicate that cross-border e-commerce does indeed have a direct and positive effect on market innovation. More importantly, it has an indirect and positive impact on technology and process innovation by fully mediating the effects of an entrepreneurial orientation. Traditionally, innovation system literature favors studies of well-functioning economies and innovation in high-technology sectors. In emerging economies, such as Latin America, a significant number of gaps is still found, especially in terms of understanding behaviors towards innovation and how these attitudes might impact the innovation outputs. Based on this scenario, the present study aims to measure how entrepreneurial innovation - a multidimensional construct formed by innovativeness, proactiveness and risk taking - impacts on innovation performance. This study adapts the model of Sheppard (2023), originally applied to a Canadian multi-sectoral sample, to an also multi-sector group located in the Caribbean region of Colombia. A translated questionnaire was applied to 154 companies. A total of 123 micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) valid cases was considered for analysis. Results show significant impact of entrepreneurial orientation on innovation performance, confirming initial hypothesis. The impact of environmental dynamism presents diverse data that needs to be further analyzed and 'slack resources' were found as a statistically significant antecedent to innovation performance. The limitation to measure growth due to restrictions in data access is an important future opportunity to expand the analysis, allowing full comparison to the original model. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The emergence of the fourth industrial revolution has made fundamental changes to technology, industries, and societal patterns and processes. SMEs are familiarizing themselves with new technological innovations to adapt to the current shifts. SMEs significantly contribute to economic progress by creating jobs, generating revenue, reducing poverty, and launching new ventures, especially in developing economies. However, the contribution of the SMEs in Kurdistan is limited due to the weak capacity to produce technological innovations and the inability to execute manufacturing processes effectively. So, the study aims to investigate the impact of Entrepreneurial Orientation (EC) and Social Capital (SO) on the Technological Innovation (TI) of Kurdistan SMEs in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. This study used the resource-based theory as the underlying theory for its presumptions, and its model was constructed using self-administered questionnaires. Three hundred forty-four business owners participated in this study, yielding a response rate of 68%. The results of the current study showed that social capital and entrepreneurial orientation both significantly and positively affect technological innovation. The study will contribute to technology innovation adoption among small industrial companies in Kurdistan and reduce potential setbacks for technology adoption, highlighting externally generated knowledge of entrepreneurial orientation and social capital. Improvement in social media (SM) platforms and their ability to enable small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to reach a large audience has led to changes in how entrepreneurial firms carry out their regular activities. Studies on entrepreneurship and SM adoption are relatively new and fragmented; however, there is scant interest from managers, scholars, and governments for future research work in this area in emerging countries. This study aims to investigate the role of SM adoption and innovation capabilities (IC) in improving SME performance. We employ the resource-based view (RBV) as a basis for the conceptual model and infer relationships between entrepreneurial orientation (EO), SM adoption, IC, and SME performance. A closed-ended questionnaire was administered to collect data through a web-based survey and quantitative analysis was employed to generalise the results. The proposed relationships are tested on a sample of 431 randomly selected SMEs, applying the PLS algorithm, bootstrapping, and blindfolding techniques using SmartPLS 3.0. The findings reveal that SME performance could be improved by EO, SM adoption, and IC. Additionally, SM adoption significantly mediates the EO–SME-performance relationship, and IC moderates the SM-adoption–SME-performance association. Purpose: Manufacturing sectors are identified to be of the foremost importance expected to increase Malaysia's GDP contribution to the Eleventh Malaysia Plan (11th MP). The present study aims to examine the effects of intellectual capital and entrepreneurial orientation (EO) on knowledge sharing in manufacturing SMEs. The impact of intellectual capital and EO on firms' innovation performance in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) is accordingly investigated by considering knowledge sharing as the mediator. Design/methodology/approach: The data were collected via a questionnaire consisting of the owners or top managers of 121 manufacturing SMEs in Malaysia. Partial least square (PLS) was used to analyze the obtained data. Findings: Results indicated that human capital, as well as external relational capital, has a positive correlation with both knowledge sharing and innovation performance mediated by knowledge sharing. It was also shown that knowledge sharing has a significant impact on firm innovation performance. Interestingly, structural capital, internal relational capital and (EO) did not significantly impact knowledge sharing and innovation performance. However, all of these elements are important to influence the firm's innovation performance. Practical implications: The study contributes to the literature on intellectual capital, entrepreneurial orientation, knowledge sharing and innovation through developing and testing the possible connections among them. The finding of this study will provide owners and top managers in manufacturing SMEs insight into the variables improving firm innovation performance. Despite the increasing relevance of entrepreneurial orientation (EO) for innovation performance in the context of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), few studies examine the complexity of the underlying mechanism that explains the relationship between EO and innovation performance. Drawing on the resource-based view (RBV) and signalling theory, we examine an organisation-level model to explain how SME EO predicts innovation performance through human resource management (HRM) practices and collective organisational engagement (COE). We used data collected from 186 human resource managers and 526 employees in SMEs. The results indicate that HRM practices and COE sequentially mediate the relationship between EO and innovation performance. To complement studies that identify an organisation's micro processes (i.e. employee behaviours as mediators between EO and innovation), this study highlights the need to examine macro processes occurring at the organisation level to account for the EO–innovation performance relationship. The Government in Nigeria has of recent years raised the awareness of Entrepreneurship practices through the introduction of different entrepreneurship programmes among all forms of corporations including the Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and conglomerates in the country; especially those manufacturing Corporations in the densely populated areas of the South western Nigeria. The Government has also raised entrepreneurship awareness among the citizenry by improving the accessibility to bank loans and also by including entrepreneurship courses in the curriculum of all postsecondary tertiary institutions in order to improve employability status of young graduates before they are recruited by the conglomerates. Unfortunately, mere observation of the Nigerian economy has not shown any improvement. Hence the need to assess the level of Entrepreneurial variables and Corporate Entrepreneurship (CE) in Conglomerates in South-western and Lagos industrial axes of Nigeria. Data were collected from primary and secondary sources. The variables/elements of Corporate Entrepreneurship (CE) were categorized into innovation/invention, risk-taking, and proactiveness. Corporate entrepreneurship in this paper is measured by behaviour and characteristics of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the coalition group. Multi-stage sampling technique was adopted in selecting the sample population. Subsequently, the data generated were analysed with appropriate descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings showed that: Nigerian manufacturing industries were not highly entrepreneurial oriented. Though traces of innovations were observed, none for invention, Corporate Entrepreneurship (CE) practices among the top management team were dominated by men. This gender imbalance calls for further research in future; The paper discovered that poor infrastructural development repelled most industries away from industrial estates as most CEOs prefer outright purchase of private sites. This made advantages of economies of scale to elude them, especially in the areas of research resulting in poor CE activities. Also, not many of these industries were listed on Nigerian Securities Exchange (NSE), thereby limiting amount of public funds available for research activities in these companies, and lastly, the three key variables/elements/Dimensions (Invention/Innovation, Proactiveness and Risk-taking) of Corporate Entrepreneurship were identified as channels through which Corporate Entrepreneurship (CE) can be promoted in Nigeria. The expression that "Innovation is the central issue in economic prosperity" (Michael Porter), encapsulates the importance of entrepreneurial strategy, which has been linked to firm growth, particularly through its dimensions of innovation and risk. Firm growth will increase its size, which in turn may affect the entrepreneurial strategy; a research area that has been under-studied. This research contributes to the literature by exploring the relationship between firm size and the entrepreneurial strategy. Findings support the hypothesis that in larger firms the owners pursue a strategy that tends to be higher in innovation but with reduced risk, while in smaller firms the owners pursue a strategy that is higher in risk but lower in innovation. Additionally, it was found that the firms' Entrepreneurial Orientation (EO) is moderated by the organizational size; which supports the notion of bi-directional relationship between EO and organization attributes. Due to the importance of entrepreneurship and innovation in the Pharmaceutical industry, the current study investigates the moderation role of Entrepreneurial Orientation (EO) on the influence of innovation on Pharmaceutical SMEs performance in Jordan. The current research was conducted on Jordanian pharmaceutical SMEs including manufacturers, distributors, and pharmacies with employee numbers of less than 100. The research design was quantitative, descriptive, causal, and cross-sectional held by an online questionnaire tool targeted all employees, managers, and Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) in pharmaceutical SMEs. Using the AMOS software, the Structural Equation Model (SEM) was adopted to analyze a sample of 162 surveys and examine the hypotheses. The outcome of this study indicated that the research model variables can explain 69.4 % of the variance of SMEs' performance. Additionally, it confirmed that innovation has a significant positive impact on pharmaceutical SMEs, and Entrepreneurial Orientation moderates the influence of innovation on pharmaceutical SMEs' Performance. Furthermore, current research findings contribute to extending existing relevant knowledge about the innovation impact and moderating role of Entrepreneurial Orientation on pharmaceutical SMEs' performance in Jordan and understanding the relationship between these variables to be of significant guidance to managing entrepreneurship in emerging economies. Further, the results show SMEs' methods and directions to follow during crises, such as COVID-19, to maintain business performance and sustainability. The current research paper contributes to the present literature since very limited studies investigated the innovation impact on SMEs' performance. We investigate the effects of technology, entrepreneurial, market, and learning orientations on firm innovativeness, and the mediating effect of firm innovativeness on these relationships, using a survey of 374 small- and medium-size enterprises in Korea. The results reveal that, while technology, entrepreneurial, and learning orientations significantly influence firm innovativeness, firm innovativeness has a significant effect on firm performance. We also find that firm innovativeness has a statistically significant mediating role in the relationships of technology, entrepreneurial, and learning orientations to firm performance. Our study contributes to strategic management and emerging market literature by identifying the pivotal role of innovativeness for firms that seek to benefit from various types of strategic orientations.
