The article discusses the discovery of the 17th-century shipwreck of the Swedish warship "Vasa" near Stockholm, Sweden. The wooden ship was preserved in the Baltic Sea before being excavated in the 1960s. Archaeologist Fred Hocker leads the study of the ship at the Vasa Museum in Stockholm, where a digital model of the ship was created using laser-surveying. Specific topics include the preservation of the ship, theories about the reason that the ship sank, and how Dutch and English shipbuilding styles were combined in the construction of the ship.
