This article features the local media in Los Angeles, California. The Los Angeles television and radio markets rank second in terms of DMA size behind New York, with 5.5 million TV households. BIA Financial Network puts the market's spot TV billings at $1.7 billion for 2004, up from $1.5 billion in 2003. The local media market in Los Angeles is a crowded field with more than two dozen broadcast television stations. However, just six companies control the vast majority of the market's TV revenue: NBC Universal, 24 percent; News Corp., 22.8 percent; Viacom/CBS, 17.8 percent; Disney/ABC 13.4 percent; and Univision Communications 9.5 percent.
