As a part of European funding in Romania, the European Social Fund (ESF) has always to be subject of efficient spending. Assessing its efficiency is about how financed budgets are correlated with program's associated indicators for each call of proposal. The managing authority is establishing a set of rules that should allow European Commission as the donor and the general public as last instance beneficiary that funds are spend within selected and reimbursed budgets in an efficient manner. Efficiency in ESF funded projects can be assessed by using a linear regression model to describe applicants behaviours, to conclude about spending budgets and to propose further improvements is possible, as conclusions of this paper shows. Conclusions may be subject of further developments by interested researchers and also by other interested parties in current sound financial implementation of ESF in Romania: managing authority personnel, external public auditors, internal auditors, beneficiaries' financial managers. The analysis of different social-economic phenomena is characterized by specific elements. Even the average level of a series can be determined in different ways, given the fact that time series can be either of intervals of time, or of certain moments of time. Also, estimating evolutionary trends is influenced by the real progress suggested by the considered time series. Thus, for an accurate analysis, it is necessary to determine indicators specific to the series of time, indicators that are summarized below. Goran Wall's "exergy, ecology, and democracy - concepts of a vital society or a proposal for an exergy tax" has come a long way since its presentation in 1992. Wall has extended the thermodynamics to the sustainability analysis of economic, environmental and societal models. The authors of this paper aim to discuss Wall's intuitions in today's scenario. Governments are assuming increasing measures against climate change and toward sustainability. However, these measures do not affect the concentration of GHG and global heating. It is an evident failure from a thermodynamic point of view. The economic indicators used by governments to measure the progress toward UN. Sustainability development goals and the Paris agreement reveal a scarce consistency. One of the most used is "domestic material consumption". It accounts for the mass balance of the materials entering or exiting a national economic system. However, it lacks consistency and delivers insufficient information because it neglects the impacts of import-export. As Wall shows, more effective and consistent indicators are necessary to account for sustainability. The most relevant is exergy, which has been presented and discussed widely. While animal welfare concerns are rising globally, this has not been the case with lower- and middle-income economies in Africa and Asia such as Zimbabwe. These developing countries have their own problems which are not reported in developed countries, such as the harsh economic environment, limited technologies and different political and food security priorities. These factors limit focusing on animal welfare. Meanwhile, studies on animal welfare in these countries have been limited. The task of determining animal welfare is a very complex and can sometimes be very subjective since there is no gold standard protocol to be used in many developing countries. This paper reviews the main factors that are used to assess dairy animal welfare at a farm situation. The factors were categorised and generally discussed as drivers and indicators of dairy animal welfare. Key indicators reviewed in this study include but are not limited to production performance indicators, body condition scores, cleanliness scores, presence of clinical disease signs and physiological and behavioural indicators. Dairy animal welfare drivers discussed in this paper include but not limited to the general design of dairy cattle housing, presence of foot bath and shading facilities, presence and use of maternity paddocks, state of feeder and water troughs. Knowledge on sustainable development goals (SDGs) interactions has a bias toward global perspectives and lacks regional or country‐specific differentiation. This paper takes a biosphere‐based sustainability approach and assesses SDG interactions in a local governmental context. We start by addressing how the SDGs promote a biosphere‐based sustainability. Here, we find a range of opinions and we settle on a set of SDGs. Second, we explore how a set of sustainability indicators are connected to the SDGs and biosphere‐based sustainability. We conduct a case study and develop an SDG interaction model, and further compare global and local level interactions. We find that the local level has some differences compared to global level findings. However, the distribution among synergies and trade‐offs was found to be quite coherent. Our SDG interaction model connects sectors both within a single government and between governmental levels and can as such facilitate policy coherence. The main contribution of this study is our unique approach of conducting a local level assessment which aligns an existing sustainability measurement system with interaction research. An increasing demand for bibliometric assessment of individuals has led to a growth of new bibliometric indicators as well as new variants or combinations of established ones. The aim of this review is to contribute with objective facts about the usefulness of bibliometric indicators of the effects of publication activity at the individual level. This paper reviews 108 indicators that can potentially be used to measure performance on individual author-level, and examines the complexity of their calculations in relation to what they are supposed to reflect and ease of end-user application. As such we provide a schematic overview of author-level indicators, where the indicators are broadly categorised into indicators of publication count, indicators that qualify output (on the level of the researcher and journal), indicators of the effect of output (effect as citations, citations normalized to field or the researcher's body of work), indicators that rank the individual's work and indicators of impact over time. Supported by an extensive appendix we present how the indicators are computed, the complexity of the mathematical calculation and demands to data-collection, their advantages and limitations as well as references to surrounding discussion in the bibliometric community. We investigate different approaches based on correlation analysis to reduce the complexity of a space of quantitative indicators for the assessment of research performance. The proposed methods group bibliometric indicators into clusters of highly intercorrelated indicators. Each cluster is then associated with a representative indicator. The set of all representatives corresponds to a base of orthogonal metrics capturing independent aspects of research performance and can be exploited to design a composite performance indicator. We apply the devised methodology to isolate orthogonal performance metrics for scholars and journals in the field of computer science and to design a global performance indicator. Purpose: With the help of the newly developed Economic Policy Uncertainty (EPU) index, this paper attempts to find the influence if any, of the EPU on stock markets and certain key economic indicators in India. Methodology /Approach: The focus is on the influence of EPU on the stock markets, industrial production, new capital issues, exports and bank credit to commercial sector. Monthly data of economic indicators is collected for 66 months from January 2014 and tested with OLS and Quantile regression. Findings: It is observed that stock market, Industrial Production, new capital issues and bank credit are negatively related to EPU. Also, that impact of EPU is more on higher quantiles. Limitations / Implications: The study examines and proves the overall impact of EPU on selected economic indicators and the impact at different quartiles. This opens up vistas for further exploration of the findings to prove / disprove the same in other economic indicators and against certain specific events that spur the EPU index. Practical Implications: The paper has strong theoretical foundations. The methodology adopted has been research tested. There is a need to look at the EPU index closely and frequently to feel the pulse of the EPU and how it affects the economy. Originality Value: This is one of the attempts to evaluate the behavior of EPU and its implication on certain economic indicators. As the concept of "empowerment" varies depending on the context or circumstances with different meanings and terminologies by different researchers the methods for systematically measuring empowerment differs. Multiple important instruments are constructed to monitor progress towards gender equality and women's empowerment at a regional and global scale. The paper will highlight particularly on the approaches developed by UNDP like gender-related development index (GDI), women's empowerment index (WEI) etc. with special focus on pros and cons of each methodology. Although many studies and discussions around empowerment are commonly limited to activities like "economic", "social" and "political" forms of empowerment. Therefore it sometimes also requires interventions that are beyond survey and are more holistic that explores other dimensions that have practical implications for to women's empowerment. The paper also reflects on some different kinds of non-survey instruments that can be useful for measuring women's empowerment with their pros and cons. Most of the non-survey instruments described in this paper can generate both quantitative and qualitative data and have many uses including the evaluation of a development programme. Like our survey questionnaires, we can also pretest our non-survey instruments extensively with people who are alike to respondents in our study, so that the logistic work could be easy to conduct and understandable by the researchers. This paper explores the current state of the social impact measurement (SIM) field to better understand common practices in measuring the post-intervention social impact of a program or project and to identify strategies to improve measurement in practice. This study employed a systematic literature review. Articles were manually coded deductively and inductively in NVivo to complete a descriptive and thematic analysis of the literature. The thematic analysis provided an in-depth understanding of the SIM field. We found that similarities existed across the definitions of social impact (e.g., environmental impact is part of social impact). Additionally, social return on investment (SROI) is the most common measurement model and theory of change was identified as a core concept across SIM literature. Strategies are presented for practitioners to consider when measuring social impact, including: (i) engage stakeholders throughout the process, (ii) mobilize existing operational data, (iii) increase measurement capacity, and (iv) use both qualitative and quantitative data. This study reveals the nuances of SIM based on academic literature published across the globe over the span of a decade. It places emphasis on the post-intervention stage and identifies strategies to improve the application of measurement models in practice. Lastly, it outlines future research directions. The evaluation of scientific journals poses challenges owing to the existence of various impact measures. This is because journal ranking is a multidimensional construct that may not be assessed effectively using a single metric such as an impact factor. A few studies have proposed an ensemble of metrics to prevent the bias induced by an individual metric. In this study, a multi-metric journal ranking method based on the standardized average index (SA index) was adopted to develop an extended standardized average index (ESA index). The ESA index utilizes six metrics: the CiteScore, Source Normalized Impact per Paper (SNIP), SCImago Journal Rank (SJR), Hirsh index (H-index), Eigenfactor Score, and Journal Impact Factor from three well-known databases (Scopus, SCImago Journal & Country Rank, and Web of Science). Experiments were conducted in two computer science subject areas: (1) artificial intelligence and (2) computer vision and pattern recognition. Comparing the results of the multi-metric-based journal ranking system with the SA index, it was demonstrated that the multi-metric ESA index exhibited high correlation with all other indicators and significantly outperformed the SA index. To further evaluate the performance of the model and determine the aggregate impact of bibliometric indices with the ESA index, we employed unsupervised machine learning techniques such as clustering coupled with principal component analysis (PCA) and t-distributed stochastic neighbor embedding (t-SNE). These techniques were utilized to measure the clustering impact of various bibliometric indicators on both the complete set of bibliometric features and the reduced set of features. Furthermore, the results of the ESA index were compared with those of other ranking systems, including the internationally recognized Scopus, SJR, and HEC Journal Recognition System (HJRS) used in Pakistan. These comparisons demonstrated that the multi-metric-based ESA index can serve as a valuable reference for publishers, journal editors, researchers, policymakers, librarians, and practitioners in journal selection, decision making, and professional assessment. The article is devoted to the study of strategic marketing roles within the context of dynamic markets. It examines the methods and approaches that enterprises can use to achieve competitive advantages in these circumstances. The paper highlights the importance of strategic marketing in the context of modern business and explores adaptive approaches to the development of marketing strategies. Furthermore, the authors analyze the results of three key innovation rankings, the Global Innovation Index (GII), the European Innovation Scoreboard (EIS), and The Bloomberg Innovation Index, to identify the shortcomings and prospects of Ukraine's innovative development. The paper presents the dynamics of changes in the share of creative goods, works, and services in the total volume of shipped goods. The authors identify drawbacks and prospects for innovative development based on the current state of Ukraine's economy. In addition, the article analyzes the general trends in market dynamics, the impact of technological innovations on the business environment, the spread of globalization in the modern world, and how these factors affect strategic marketing. Particular attention is paid to trend analysis and forecasting methods, as well as the importance of innovation in strategic marketing. The research provides examples of successful implementation of innovative strategies in various business sectors. The authors present the prospects for innovative development in Ukraine. These prospects offer many opportunities for further growth and competitiveness on a global scale. Objective:. This study investigated the associations between the number of authors and collective self-citations versus citations by others. Study design and setting:. We analyzed 88,594 health science articles published in 2015 and citations they received until 2020. The main variables were the number of authors, the number of citations by co-authors (collective self-citations), and the number of citations by others. Results:. The number of authors correlated more strongly with the number of citations by co-authors than with citations by others (Spearman r 0.31 vs. 0.23; mutually adjusted r 0.26 vs. 0.12). The percentage of self-citations among all citations was 10.6% for single-authored articles, and increased gradually with the number of authors to 34.8% for ≥ 50 authors. Collective self-citations increased the proportion of articles reaching or exceeding 30 total citations by 0.7% for single-authored articles, but by 11.6% for articles written by ≥ 50 authors. Conclusions:. If citations by others reflect scientific utility, then another mechanism must explain the excess of collective self-citations observed for multi-authored articles. The results support the hypothesis that the authors' own motivations explain this excess. Persistence of restored populations depends on growth, reproduction, dispersal, local adaptation, and a suitable landscape pattern to foster metapopulation dynamics. Although the negative effects of habitat fragmentation on plant population dynamics are well understood, particularly in grasslands, the population traits that control grassland restoration are less known. We reviewed the use of population traits for evaluating grassland restoration success based on 141 publications (1986–2015). The results demonstrated that population demography was relatively well‐assessed but detailed studies providing information on key stages of the life cycle were lacking despite their importance in determining population viability. Vegetative and generative performances have been thoroughly investigated, notably the components of plant fitness, such as reproductive output, while genetic and spatial population structures were largely ignored. More work on the population effects of ecological restoration would be welcomed, particularly with a focus on population genetics. Targeted species were principally common and dominant natives, or invasive plants while rare or threatened species were poorly considered. Evaluation of ecological restoration should be conducted at different scales of ecological complexity, but so far, communities and ecosystems are over represented, and more focus should be directed towards a population approach as population traits are essential indicators of restoration success. This paper attempts to extract Industry 4.0 indicators from relevant literature and integrate these indicators in strategy formulation by providing a categorization system according to technological, organizational, inter-organizational, and social and regulatory clusters. The identified 62 indicators are found to cover a wide range of responsibilities accounted for by specific functional teams and cross-functional teams, which collectively aim to support strategic decision-making among stakeholders. The tourism debate prior to the COVID-19 pandemic was dominated by the problems inherent in overtourism, reflecting an inadequate land management. Although publications on overtourism have grown exponentially in recent years, its scientific study still has major shortcomings, particularly with regard to measurement. With the aim of overcoming this insufficiency, we have carried out a review of the literature (using the mapping review method) and, based on its conclusions, we have drawn up a proposal to systematise the measurement of overtourism by combining several tools: indicators, surveys, interviews, and other tools linked to the Internet and social networks. The results of the research make a contribution to the expansion of the literature on the topic and may have important practical implications in formulating effective land-use policies by guiding policy makers in the management of overtourism. They could be of use in both the early detection of overtourism and the design of policies that prevent and/or detect situations of risk and that correct existing problems. Regime complexes have been discussed in international literature as an intervening variable which bring about policy coherence at national levels. There is a dearth of literature which examines aspects related to the link between global biodiversity regime, national policy coherence and sustainable development goals (SDGs) reporting. By taking the case study of India and using liberal institutional approaches and critical appraisal, this paper seeks to analyse the role of SDGs reporting for promoting coherence between the international biodiversity regime complex and country level planning. This paper will have implications for praxis on biodiversity and sustainable development policy as well as have implications for theory related to liberal institutional scholarship. This paper argues that while the normative scope of the global biodiversity regime has evolved to encompass principles such as scientific enquiry as well as sustainable development, national level reporting on biodiversity related SDGs have to still catch up to facilitate better policy coherence at all levels. Further the paper also calls for a greater science-policy interface to supplement SDG reporting framework towards better understanding of conservation and ecosystem services aspects of biodiversity in India. Simple Summary: Positive welfare represents an expansion of the traditional animal welfare understanding that animal welfare is defined by minimizing negative experiences such as stress, pain, suffering, and disease. Positive welfare as a concept shifts the narrative from just reducing negative experiences to intentionally providing animals with increased opportunities to have positive experiences and feelings. The concept, although around for several decades, is in its infancy in terms of developing ways of assessing positive welfare on farms. Therefore, the adoption of practices that promote opportunities for positive welfare and experiences faces challenges, especially in monitoring continuous improvement at the farm level. The most apparent challenge is the lack of validated indicators to characterize a full spectrum of positive welfare experiences and feelings for farm animals. Assessing positive welfare in extensively reared animals such as sheep may pose additional practical challenges too. Using an iterative approach, this critical review aims to explore the extent to which positive welfare interventions and indicators are positioned and have been developed within the literature on sheep welfare. This paper critiques existing literature in terms of potential indicators for current and future research and characterizes the practicality and suitability of these indicators for on-farm welfare assessments. Finally, potential aspects of positive welfare for sheep are highlighted so that they may guide future research and practical implementation on farms. It also reviews the characteristics of scientific measures for (positive) affective states in the current sheep literature and their potential contribution to understanding positive welfare states in sheep. This paper contributes to an emerging discussion about transformative enterprises, which are increasingly seen as change agents in sustainability transformations. Some scholars have hitherto described them as pioneering enterprises that strive for fundamental changes towards sustainability at different scales. Economic geography has, however, so far glossed over a micro‐perspective on such enterprises. In this paper, we define transformative enterprises in detail by systematically identifying and elaborating their characteristics and actions. We ask: What operationalizable characteristics that refer to transformative enterprises are discussed in the literature? How can we define transformative enterprises? Starting from a comprehensive literature review, we identify nine key dimensions of transformative enterprises that we specify with a set of indicators, and we then synthesize our finding with a definition. With this contribution, we further develop the concept of transformative enterprise in economic geography and show how it complements current conceptualizations of firm‐level agency and system‐level agency. Forest certification is a private, voluntary and market-driven instrument designed to promote responsible forest management. This paper focused on the FSC and the NOM NMX-AA-143-SCFI-2008 schemes used in Mexico for the certification of sustainable forest management. In this paper we used the analytical hierarchical process (AHP) to study the factors that determine the main impacts of forest certification in México. A panel of 30 experts was selected as decision-makers to find which principles, criteria and indicators are considered as the most relevant while implementing forest certification. For decision-makers, the environmental principle occupied the first place with 40.26% of importance in the implementation of forest certification, followed by the social principle, and the economic principle with 32.15% and 27.59% of importance, respectively. Regarding the criteria, forest management and production, biodiversity, and forest protection were considered to be the most relevant. Regarding the indicators, the results indicated that forest certification in Mexico can have a positive impact on the existence of educational institutions, community services such as water, energy, medical services and drainage, the quality of the forest management plans, investment in forest management, machinery and equipment, environmental services, recreation, tourism, research, development and community education, planning for the conservation of biological diversity, and planning for biodiversity conservation. To support progress towards the transition to a circular economy, the ability to measure circularity is essential. The consideration of the role biobased products can play in this transition is however still largely lacking in the current development of circularity monitoring approaches. The first step in coming to a suitable monitoring framework for biobased products is to define circular economy principles. In this paper, specific characteristics of biobased products were considered in defining six circular economy principles for biobased products: (1). Reduce reliance on fossil resources, (2). Use resources efficiently, (3). Valorize waste and residues, (4). Regenerate, (5). Recirculate and (6). Extend the high-quality use of biomass. In order to evaluate the circularity performance of biobased products with respect to these principles, what needs to be measured was defined considering both intrinsic circularity and impact of this circularity. The intrinsic indicators provide a measure of success in implementation of these circularity principles, and the latter impacts of circularity, i.e., impact of closing the loops on accumulation of hazardous substances and impact of circularity on sustainability (environmental, economic and social). The theme of the circular city is currently much debated in the literature as a possible strategy for achieving sustainability in urban areas. However, as a recent development it still has many features in the making, one of the most important being the issue concerning monitoring and the tool through which to achieve it. In the paper, therefore, the "indicator" tool is explored in depth. Metrics represent a fundamental and complex aspect that is foundational to measuring and quantifying the progress of results achieved with respect to the goals set. Currently, most existing indicators are associated with specific aspects of the circular economy; there have been few examples of indicators designed to assess the circularity of an entire city. The paper aims to identify priority themes and describe a set of indicators to be used at the urban level. In the absence of an established reference frame, themes and indicators were identified through a methodology starting with an extensive literature search and careful analysis, including statistical analysis, of the scientific literature as well as international and European strategies on the subject. Abstract Can Well-being Be Measured? Reflections on the Spatial Dimension of the OECD Better Life Index Indices developed by international research organizations assume value in the adoption of new policies. This paper aims to present the role that these indices have taken on in order to investigate the methodology adopted and understand the role that the space between the indicators used takes on. Specifically, the Better Life Index that the OECD develops is examined, analyzing and mapping the indicators used. Some critical issues emerge, and in particular the absence of the spatial dimension among the parameters considered. The paper reflects on the relevance of this gap and highlights the importance of the relationship with space in assessing well-being.

The unbalanced development strategy makes the regional development unbalanced. Therefore, in the development process, resources must be effectively utilized according to the level and characteristics of each region. Considering the resource and environmental constraints, this paper measures and analyzes China's green economic efficiency and green total factor productivity. Moreover, by expounding the characteristics of high-dimensional data, this paper points out the problems of traditional clustering algorithms in high-dimensional data clustering. This paper proposes a density peak clustering algorithm based on sampling and residual squares, which is suitable for high-dimensional large data sets. The algorithm finds abnormal points and boundary points by identifying halo points, and finally determines clusters. In addition, from the experimental comparison on the data set, it can be seen that the improved algorithm is better than the DPC algorithm in both time complexity and clustering results. We propose an indicator to 'measure' the extent to which co-publication through international collaboration enhances the value of scientific output of an organisation or agency performing academic research. A second order approach is used which combines a quality proxy (impact) and a quantity or size proxy (number of papers published) to yield a trinity of energy like scalar proxies. From these it is possible to define an index of foreign collaboration and another evenness indicator that shows the size and unevenness of the role foreign collaboration plays in the total academic output of the organization. This paper discusses the issue of authenticity of digital evidence in the ICC. While some types of digital evidence have been used at the ICC, some challenges persist. ICC Chambers have used old methods of verifying the authenticity of physical documents to analyze pieces of digital evidence. These practices do not fully grasp the issue of authenticity in relation to a piece of digital evidence, which may require specific practices and technologies. This paper discusses how ICC judges can update its practices in order to address such issue. With an ever-growing use of digital evidence in its courtroom, it is essential for ICC Judges to develop solid practices that allow them to fully examine the authenticity of a piece of digital evidence. Evaluation by ranking/rating of data based on a multitude of indicators typically calls for multi-criteria decision analyses (MCDA) methods. MCDA methods often, in addition to indicator values, require further information, typically subjective. This paper presents a partial-order methodology as an alternative to analyze multi-indicator systems (MIS) based on indicator values that are simultaneously included in the analyses. A non-technical introduction of main concepts of partial order is given, along with a discussion of the location of partial order between statistics and MCDA. The paper visualizes examples of a 'simple' partial ordering of a series of chemicals to explain, in this case, unexpected behavior. Further, a generalized method to deal with qualitative inputs of stakeholders/decision makers is suggested, as well as how to disclose peculiar elements/outliers. The paper finishes by introducing formal concept analysis (FCA), which is a variety of partial ordering that allows exploration and thus the generation of implications between the indicators. In order to carry out an efficient and competitive activity, livestock holdings must follow both the technical efficiency, respectively the physical result per unit of the source's effect, as well as the economic efficiency of the activity and join the trends regarding the promotion of qualitative factors, among which they are part the application of modern technologies and computerization. The IT product ZooSyst is a web application intended for the analysis of economic efficiency for sheep, goats, bulls, and buffalo species, through which farmer users will have the possibility to calculate the economic efficiency for the specific activity and to choose the optimal option in the specific branch of activity, ensuring a more judicious matching of objectives with resources. This IT product made available to farmers raising sheep, goats, taurine, and buffalo species offers the possibility of calculating the technological estimate, the income, and expenditure budget, and economic efficiency indicators, for the milk or meat production activity. The online monitoring of agricultural expenses and income is of great interest due to the integration of information and communication technology with agricultural sciences, being based on specific concepts: client/server architecture, integrated platform software, decision support, remote relational communication with bases of web-distributed data, object-oriented programming, econometrical modeling, interactivity, etc. The ZooSyst computer system was designed and realized by the ADER 24.1.2 Project - "Research on the economic efficiency of raising sheep, goats, dairy cows, cattle and buffaloes". The purpouse of this paper was to highlight the morpho-productive indicators of Aubrac and Aberdeen Angus cattle breeds exploited in Romania. Data were collected from a number of 40 cattle, following the weaning weight (age of 7 months) and the average daily gain increase of the animals, which benefited from similar exploitation conditions. Also, based on the results obtained, a statistical interpretation was performed. At the age of 7 months, an average body weight of 216.6 kg was observed in Aubrac cattle, with an average daily gain increase of 912 g/day, while in Aberdeen Angus cattle an average body weight of 184.3 kg was observed, the animals recorded an average daily gain increase of 799 g/day. In conclusion, in the case of both breeds of cattle, the satisfactory parameters specific to the breeds of meat were highlighted, but making a comparison we can appreciate that the results observed in the Aubrac breed are superior. Using a selection of general science journals, general medical journals and specialized medical journals, this paper analyses four indicators of epistemic community formation: Synchronous, diachronous, immediate, and continuants. The analyses show that the specialized medical journals display higher levels of epistemic community formation as measured by the percentage of recurring authors. There are only slight differences in the results across analyses of the four indicators. Yet, the analyses of each indicator illustrate different levels of variance. The results further indicate that the level of epistemic community formation, as measured by the percentage of recurring authors, is closely tied to specialization, and could therefore also be considered as yet another indicator of specialization. The modern urban economies, in struggle to keep up with the pace of economic growth are suffering from issues of sustainability in transportation, imposing huge costs on the economy. Major reasons for the unsustainability in transportations can be listed as, a) issue of accessibility, b) lack of efficiency and c) diminishing air quality. This paper tries to evaluate these issues for megacities of India from dimensional principles of sustainability. The paper tried to evaluate the indicators of sustainability by adopting the famous three-dimensional principles to the major mega cities of the country. The findings from this paper are quite interesting to note that, the major mega cities are suffering from unsustainable transport system. To have a deeper look, Bengaluru, emerging mega city of Karnataka, is analysed by bringing new dimension called, institutional sustainability. By evaluating, economic, social, environmental and institutional sustainability with relevant benchmarks, the result showed that, in all respect mega cities of India and more specifically, Bengaluru city is experiencing unsustainable growth of transport sector which needs urgent attention of the policy makers. Purpose -- The purpose of this paper is to identify the metrics used in the literature to measure social issues in sustainable supply chains. Design/methodology/approach -- A systematic literature review was conducted to identify peer-reviewed articles containing metrics pertaining to social issues in the supply chain. A structured content analysis of each identified article was conducted to extract the metrics. This analysis provided a basis for a frequency analysis to determine how often the various metrics appeared in the literature. The metrics were also analyzed to determine whether they: simultaneously addressed the other areas of the triple bottom line, namely, environmental and/or economic issues; were quantitative or qualitative metrics; and could be classified as absolute, relative or context-based metrics. Findings -- A total of 53 unique metrics were identified. The analysis of the results showed that a limited number of environmental (3 metrics) and economic (11 metrics) issues were addressed by the metrics as well. A combination of quantitative (39.6 per cent) and qualitative (60.4 per cent) measurements were used. The vast majority of the metrics (90.6 per cent) were further classified as absolute metrics. Originality/value -- This paper presents one of the first in-depth analyses of metrics used to measure social issues in supply chains.
