Abstract: In this paper, we present some sixth-order class of modified Ostrowski’s methods for solving nonlinear equations. Per iteration each class member requires three function and one first derivative evaluations, and is shown to be at least sixth-order convergent. Several numerical examples are given to illustrate the performance of some of the presented methods. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

This paper is devoted to discuss the regularity of the weak solution to a class of non-linear equations corresponding to Hardy-Sobolev type inequality on the H-type group. Combining the Serrin's idea and the Moser's iteration, L p estimates of the weak solution are obtained, which generalize the results of Garofalo and Vassilev in [6, 14]. As an application, asymptotic behavior of the weak solution has been discussed. Finally, doubling property and unique continuation of the weak solution are given. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper deals with one-dimensional axisymmetric quasi-static coupled magnetothermoelastic problems subjected to magnetic and vapor fields. Laplace transform and finite difference methods are used to analyze the problems. Using the Laplace transform with respect to time, the general solutions of the governing equations are obtained in the transform domain. The solution is obtained by using the matrix similarity transformation and inverse Laplace transform. We obtain solutions for the temperature and thermal deformation distributions for a transient and steady state. It is demonstrated that the computational procedures established in this paper are capable of solving the generalized magnetothermoelasticity problem of a hollow cylinder with nonhomogeneous layers. Abstract: This paper presents a flexural analysis of I-shaped laminated composite beams. A general analytical model applicable to thin-walled I-section composite beams subjected to vertical load is developed. This model is based on the shear-deformable beam theory, and accounts for the flexural response of the thin-walled composites for arbitrary laminate stacking sequence configuration, i.e. unsymmetric as well as symmetric. Governing equations are derived from the principle of the stationary value of total potential energy. Numerical results are obtained for thin-walled composites under vertical loading, addressing the effects of fiber angle and span-to-height ratio of the composite beam. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
