The article discusses reasons why business executives in the United States should participate in community and regional forums. The public forum influences public opinion for social change, is a source of publicity for corporations, and represents the spirit of democracy in the postwar period. Examples of groups that are formed to solve common problems or provide civic leadership include a project set up by the Caterpillar Tractor Company's Community Relations Division in Illinois and the discussion meetings developed by the Wellesley Institute for Social Progress. Two experiments were developed by the New York Adult Education Council, including the Veteran-Civilian Discussion Project which was designed to collect information for a case analysis.
