The filter generator is an important building block in many stream ciphers. The generator consists of a linear feedback shift register of length n that generates an m-sequence of period 2′ - 1 filtered through a Boolean function of degree d that combines bits from the shift register and creates an output bit zt at any time t. The previous best attacks aimed at reconstructing the initial state from an observed keystream, have essentially reduced the problem to solving a nonlinear system of D = (Multiple line equation(s) cannot be represented in ASCII text) (i) equations in n unknowns using techniques based on linear algebra. This attack needs about D bits of keystream and the system can be solved in complexity O (Dω), where ω can be taken to be Strassen's reduction exponent ω = log2 (7) ≈ 2.807. This paper describes a new algorithm that recovers the initial state of most filter generators after observing O(D) keystream bits with complexity O((D - n)/2) ≈ O(D), after a pre-computation with complexity O(D(log2 D)³). In the paper, a new trust region algorithm is given for nonlinear inequality constrained optimization problems. Motivated by a dual problem introduced by Han and Mangasarian [Han, S. P., Mangasarian, O. L. (1983). A dual differentiable exact penalty function. Math. Programming 25:293-306], which is a nonnegatively constrained maximization problem, we construct a trust region algorithm for solving the dual problem. At each iteration, we only need to minimize a quadratic subproblem with simple bound constraints. Under the condition that the iterate sequence generated by the algorithm is contained in some bounded closed set, any accumulation point of the sequence is a Karush- Kuhn-Tucker point of the original problem. A cell-centered finite volume method is proposed to approximate numerically the solution to the steady convection-diffusion equation on unstructured meshes of $d$-simplexes, where $d\geq 2$ is the spatial dimension. The method is formally second-order accurate by means of a piecewise linear reconstruction within each cell and at mesh vertices. An algorithm is provided to calculate nonnegative and bounded weights. Face gradients, required to discretize the diffusive fluxes, are defined by a nonlinear strategy that allows us to demonstrate the existence of a maximum principle. This paper presents a fast algorithm for solving the n-queens problem. The basic idea of this algorithm is to use pre-computed solutions in 75% of the cases, while the remaining cases are solved by calling the Sosic's algorithm. The novelty of this algorithm is in the observation that these pre-computable cases exhibit a modular nature. Abstract: The scheduling problems studied in this paper concern the two-stage no-wait flowshops with parallel machines under the objective function of the minimization of the maximum completion time. A new heuristic algorithm, i.e., the minimum deviation algorithm, is developed to solve the problems. In order to evaluate the average case performance of the algorithm, we design numerical experiments to compare the effectiveness of the algorithm with that of the other approximation algorithms. Extensive simulations are conducted under different shop conditions, and the results statistically show that the minimum deviation algorithm performs well under most of the situations. Propositional modal and positive logics are considered as well as extensions of Johansson’s minimal logic. It is proved that basic versions of the interpolation property and of the Beth definability property, and also the Hallden property, are decidable on the class of tabular logics, i.e., logics given by finitely many finite algebras. Algorithms are described for constructing counterexamples to each of the properties mentioned in handling cases where the logic under consideration does not possess the required property. The article proposes and examines an iterative algorithm for a finite family of non-expansive mappings T1, T2, …, Tr. The study uses various iterative schemes to examine a common fixed point of a finite family of non-expansive mappings under some type of control conditions. It reveals that the proposed iterative algorithm converges strongly to a common fixed point of T1, T2, …, Tr. The section also provides computations of the problem and explains how they arrived to their conclusion.

In Matlab 6, there exists a command to generate a real Schur form, wheras another transforms a real Schur form into a complex one. There do not exist commands to prescribe the order in which the eigenvalues appear on the diagonal of the upper (quasi-) triangular factor T. For the complex case, a routine is sketched in Golub and Van Loan (Matrix Computations (3rd edn). The John Hopkins University Press: Baltimore and London, 1996), that orders the diagonal of T according to their distance to a target value τ. In this technical note, we give a Matlab routine to sort real Schur forms in Matlab. It is based on a block-swapping procedure by Bai and Demmel (Linear Algebra and Its Applications 1993; 186: 73) We also describe how to compute a partial real Schur form (see Saad (Numerical methods for large eigenvalue problems. Manchester University Press: Manchester, 1992.)) in case the matrix A is very large.
