40. High-Resolution Nitrogen Dioxide Measurements from an Airborne Fiber Imaging Spectrometer over Tangshan, China

Abstract

The pollution caused by nitrogen dioxide is a major environmental problem in China. This study introduces a new type of atmospheric trace gas remote-sensing instrument, an airborne fiber imaging spectrometer. This spectrometer has a spectral range of 300–410 nm and works in push-broom mode with a 30° field of view on a flight path. Flight experiments were conducted on 30 December 2022 and 5 January 2023, covering heavily polluted areas east of Beijing and Tangshan. This equipment obtained the density distribution of NO2 over the flight area. The results showed that pollution was mainly concentrated in the Caofeidian area and at the power station in the north, and the main source of pollution was anthropogenic. Satellite and airborne data near the pollution points were compared, and the two datasets showed a positive correlation with a correlation coefficient of 0.78 and 0.7, on the two days, respectively. This study demonstrates the capability of an airborne fiber imaging spectrometer for NO2 regional emission remote sensing and identifying the pollution points.

41. Grandmothers Are Part of the Parenting Network, Too! A Longitudinal Study on Coparenting, Maternal Sensitivity, Child Attachment and Behavior Problems in a Chinese Sample

Abstract

Grandmothers are important in Chinese families. This study explored the early emerging mother-grandmother-infant network and its association with child's socioemotional development in multigenerational families in a non-WEIRD country. The analytic sample included 60 children (T1: M[subscript age] = 6.5 months) and their caregivers residing in Beijing. Measures used were the Strange Situation Procedure (SSP), the Lausanne Trilogue Play (LTP), the Maternal Behavior Q-Sort (MBQS), and the Infant-Toddler Social and Emotional Assessment. Structural equation and path modeling revealed that (1) more grandmaternal neutral/watching coparenting behaviors at the first assessment were related to more secure infant-mother attachment relationships at the second assessment (T2: M[subscript age] = 1 year); (2) maternal sensitivity at T2 was a partial mediator between earlier undermining and neutral/watching coparenting behaviors and young children's externalizing problems at the final assessment (T3: M[subscript age] = 2 years). Findings are discussed in terms of the roles played by mother-grandmother coparenting network in the children's socioemotional development.

Abstract

Purpose This study aimed to calculate and analyze the differences in electroencephalogram (EEG) between major depression disorder (MDD) patients and healthy controls using the method of brainwave music to provide evidence of physiological parameters for clinical diagnosis of MDD. Methods We translated the 5-minute resting EEG data of 20 MDD patients and 20 healthy controls, which were collected by Peking University Sixth Hospital, into brainwave music; and calculated the pitch, volume, duration and corresponding scaling exponents to analyze the differences between MDD patients and healthy people. Then combined the analysis methods of nonlinear dynamics and brain network structure to verify the validity of the proposed method. Results The pitch, volume, and Lemple-Ziv complexity (LZC) in the frontal lobe of MDD patients were higher than those of healthy people.
