Orthorhombic stable phase of MoO 3 and Ni-doped MoO 3 with different weight percentages (2 %,5 % and 10 %) were successfully synthesized by following a surfactant free acid-assisted chemical co-precipitation method under optimized experimental conditions. Structural and compositional investigation using tools like X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy verified the orthorhombic phase and structure quality of the prepared samples with findings from Raman consistent with those from XRD. The optical characteristics analysed using UV–Vis diffused reflectance spectroscopy and photoluminescence spectroscopy revealed that Ni2+ may act as a shallow acceptor at lower doping concentrations. It was observed that the structure and characteristics of MoO 3 dramatically altered as a function of Ni doping concentration, suggesting that Ni ions migrated from lattice substitution to grain boundaries. Images from field emission scanning electron microscope revealed the formation of layer-by-layer growth of micro-plate like morphology of the prepared samples with increasing agglomeration influenced by grain boundaries. EDAX spectrum confirmed the presence of Mo, O and Ni and their compositional proportion. Based on the properties analysed, the photocatalytic properties of the synthesized samples were analysed for degradation of Alizarin Red dye and kinetic studies were conducted. The optical characterization revealed defect induced emissions and the feasibility of MoO 3 acting as a photodetector was studied along with Ni-doping proving the versatility of material for multifunctional applications. [Display omitted] • An electrocatalyst based on the Pt-MoO 3 /NiMoO 4 NRs has been fabricated for industrial-grade water splitting. • The electrolyzer using Pt-MoO 3 /NiMoO 4 NRs electrodes only required 1.55 V to achieve 10 mA cm−2. • Density functional theory calculations proved that the good synergy of the MoO 3 /NiMoO 4 and Pt benefited their catalytic performance. A new catalyst has been developed that utilizes molybdenum oxide (MoO 3)/nickel molybdenum oxide (NiMoO 4) heterostructured nanorods coupled with Pt ultrafine nanoparticles for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) toward industrial-grade water splitting. This catalyst has been synthesized using a versatile approach and has shown to perform better than noble-metals catalysts, such as Pt/C and RuO 2 , at industrial-grade current level (≥1000 mA·cm−2). When used simultaneously as a cathode and anode, the proposed material yields 10 mA·cm−2 at a remarkably small cell voltage of 1.55 V and has shown extraordinary durability for over 50 h. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations have proved that the combination of MoO 3 and NiMoO 4 creates a metallic heterostructure with outstanding charge transfer ability. The DFT calculations have also shown that the excellent chemical coupling effect between the MoO 3 /NiMoO 4 and Pt synergistically optimize the charge transfer capability and Gibbs free energies of intermediate species, leading to remarkably speeding up the reaction kinetics of water electrolysis. The adhesion of microorganisms and the subsequent formation of mineralized layers in biofilms are of great significance in inhibiting the corrosion of metal materials. In this work, we found that the adhesion and subsequent mineralization of Bacillus subtilis on the surface of low-alloy steel are influenced by the molybdenum in the material. The addition of molybdenum will lead to increased adhesion of B. subtilis on the material surface, and the subsequent biomineralization ability has also been improved. Through transcriptome and physiological and biochemical tests, we found that molybdenum can affect the chemotaxis, mobility and carbonic anhydrase secretion related genes of B. subtilis, and then affect the formation and mineralization of the biofilm of B. subtilis. The production of high-purity hydrogen from hydrogen storage materials with further direct use of generated hydrogen in fuel cells is still a relevant research field. For this purpose, nickel-molybdenum-plated copper catalysts (NiMo/Cu), comprising between 1 and 20 wt.% molybdenum, as catalytic materials for hydrogen generation, were prepared using a low-cost, straightforward electroless metal deposition method by using citrate plating baths containing Ni2+–Mo6+ ions as a metal source and morpholine borane as a reducing agent. The catalytic activity of the prepared NiMo/Cu catalysts toward alkaline sodium borohydride (NaBH4) hydrolysis increased with the increase in the content of molybdenum present in the catalysts. The hydrogen generation rate of 6.48 L min−1 gcat−1 was achieved by employing NiMo/Cu comprising 20 wt.% at a temperature of 343 K and a calculated activation energy of 60.49 kJ mol−1 with remarkable stability, retaining 94% of its initial catalytic activity for NaBH4 hydrolysis following the completion of the fifth cycle. The paper presents the first isotopic U–Pb study data (LA–ICP–MS method) of zircon from intrusive rocks of the Molo-Sarychat pluton situated along the deep-seated fault system of the "Nikolaev Line" in the eastern Kyrgyzstan. The intrusive rocks from this pluton belong to the high-potassic calc-alkaline to shoshonitic series. Intense Mo(–W–Cu–Au) (mainly molybdenum-porphyry) mineralization is spatially and genetically associated with this pluton. Together with the other Au, W and Cu deposits and occurrences, this mineralization is part of the extended metallogenic belt of Tien Shan; however, occurrences of molybdenum-porphyry mineralization are still rare in this belt. The concordant isotopic U–Pb ages of zircon autocrysts indicate the crystallization of quartz monzonite (293.3 ± 4.2 Ma) and monzogranite (286.6 ± 2.4 Ma) in the Early Permian. Zircon antecrysts dated at 306–320 Ma are also present. The crystallization age obtained corresponds to a post-collisional epoch of the development of this territory but the presence of the antecrysts expands the pluton emplacement to the Late Carboniferous-Early Permian, which, as a result, spanned over initially subduction-related and then post-collisional tectonic settings. Correspondingly, a post-collisional setting of the Mo(–W–Cu–Au) (molybdenum-porphyry) mineralization is established; it is related to the pluton studied and was formed after the emplacement of quartz monzonite (early stage) and monzogranite (late stage). Significant enrichment in Mo can be related to its progressing accumulation during magmatic differentiation causing the emplacement of quartz monzonite and especially monzogranite. These processes occurred under the more mature post-collisional tectonic regime, with possible formation of intermediate magma chambers in the Paleoproterozoic metamorphic rocks and ancient granitoids. The age dates determined for rocks from the Molo-Sarychat pluton are similar to those identified for the igneous and metasomatic rocks of the large Kumtor gold deposit that is also associated with the "Nikolaev Line." [Display omitted] Zinc metal anodes in aqueous electrolytes commonly face challenges such as dendrite growth and undesirable side reactions, limiting their application in the field of aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIBs) for energy storage. Drawing inspiration from industrial practices involving molybdenum salt solutions for metal modification, a polyoxometalate solution was formulated as a passivation solution for zinc anodes (referred to as MO solution). The formed passivation layer, referred to as the MO layer, exhibited a uniform and protective nature with a thickness of approximately 10 μm. The experimental results demonstrated that this passivation layer effectively suppressed side reactions at the zinc anode interface, as evidenced by lower corrosion current density for MO-Zn anodes. Additionally, the newly plated Zn was uniformly deposited atop the MO layer, ensuring coating integrity and inhibiting dendrite growth. As a result, under more demanding conditions such as a larger current of 8 mA cm−2, the MO-Zn anode displayed an extended cycle life exceeding 420 h in a symmetric battery, with an overpotential as low as 98 mV. This performance significantly outperformed that of commercially available pure Zn foils (with a cycle life of 60 h and an overpotential of 192 mV). Notably, a self-made Na-doped V 2 O 5 served as the cathode (referred to as NaVO), forming the MO-Zn//NaVO full battery. Even under high current test conditions of 2 A/g, the specific capacity of the MO-Zn//NaVO full battery remained substantial at 152.83 mAh/g after 1000 cycles. Furthermore, pouch batteries assembled with NaVO//MO-Zn successfully illuminated small bulbs. This study offers a viable optimization strategy for AZIB anodes and demonstrates the potential of using polyoxometalate solution for etching zinc anodes to inhibit dendrite growth and interfacial corrosion of zinc metal anodes. The coordination between carrier and active metal is critical to the catalytic efficiency of ammonia borane (AB) hydrolysis reaction. In the present study, we report a new type of catalytic support based on molybdenum boride (MBene) MoAl 1-x B and demonstrate that the effective combination of MoAl 1-x B with Ru nanoparticles can realize the significantly enhanced performance for hydrogen generation. Owing to the efficient activation and dissociation of reactants, the optimal Ru/MoAl 1-x B catalyst achieves the large turnover frequency of 494 mol H2 mol Ru -1 min−1, high hydrogen generation rate of 119817 mL min−1 g Ru -1 and favorable apparent activation energy of 39.2 kJ mol−1 for the catalytic hydrolysis of AB under alkaline-free condition. The isotopic test suggests the cleavage of O H bond in H 2 O is the rate-determining step for hydrolysis reaction, while the fracture of B–H bond in AB is also well revealed by attenuated total reflectance (ATR)-Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Significantly, the flexible on-demand hydrogen generation is achieved by using chemical switches for on–off AB hydrolysis. Based on this, molybdenum carbide (Mo 2 C) was successfully partial reduced to molybdenum metal (Mo) via a thermal reduction at high-temperature and the typical Mo-Mo 2 C-based Mott-Schottky heterostructures were simultaneously constructed, which realized the modulation of the electronic structure of Mo 2 C and optimized the conversion process of lithium polysulfides (LPS). Compared with single molybdenum carbide, the modulated molybdenum carbide acts as an electron donor with stronger Mo-S bonding strength as well as higher polysulfide adsorption energy, faster Li 2 S conversion kinetics, and greatly facilitates the adsorption → catalysis process of LPS. As a result, yolk-shell Mo-Mo 2 C heterostructure (C@Mo-Mo 2 C) exhibits excellent cycling performance as a sulfur host, with a discharge specific capacity of 488.41 mAh g−1 for C@Mo-Mo 2 C/S at 4 C and present an excellent high-rate cyclic performance accompanied by capacity decay rate of 0.08 % per cycle after 400 cycles at 2 C. [Display omitted] Developing a high-activity and low-cost catalyst to reduce the anodic overpotential is essential for hydrogen production from water splitting. In this work, a hetero-structured Co 7 Fe 3 /Mo 2 C@C catalyst has been developed to efficiently catalyze oxygen evolution reaction (OER), the overpotential (ƞ 10) of Co 7 Fe 3 /Mo 2 C@C-catalyzed OER with current density of 10 mA/cm2 is about 254 mV, substantially lower than the counterparts of Co 7 Fe 3 @C-catalyzed OER (ƞ 10 , 308 mV) and Mo 2 C@C-catalyzed OER (ƞ 10 , 439 mV), close to that of OER catalyzed by commercial RuO 2. The mechanistic studies reveal that the distinct electron transfer across the Co 7 Fe 3 /Mo 2 C interface results in electron-deficient Co 7 Fe 3 , which has been identified as the highly active catalytic sites. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations manifest that Mo 2 C induces a distinct decrease in electron density on Co 7 Fe 3 and upgrades the d -band centers of Co and Fe in Co 7 Fe 3 towards Fermi energy level, thus substantially lowering the energy barrier of the rate-determining reaction step and conferring significantly improved OER activity on the Co 7 Fe 3 /Mo 2 C@C catalyst. This manuscript describes molybdenum recovery from copper Pregnant Leaching Solutions (PLSs) in the copper oxide mining industry with high contents of chloride ions. This product was recovered from the copper leaching pond solutions of the Chilean National Copper Mining Corporation (CODELCO) using the ion exchange process. This process recovered molybdenum from initial Mo concentrations of 50 mg/L using two different anion−exchange resins. The first experiments, with 1 g/L Cl−, achieved recovery yields of 90% and molybdenum concentrates as CaMoO4. However, the process was permanently halted because of the early saturation of the ion exchange resins given by high chloride concentrations (10 g/L Cl−) of the original copper PLS and the significant reagent consumption given by the low adsorption capacity. Static studies were developed to determine the adsorption isotherms, followed by continuous molybdenum recovery tests. The Langmuir adsorption parameters were determined as a function of the chloride concentration, giving absorption capacities from 180 to 250 mg Mo/gram of resin and recoveries from 63% to 90%. The breakthrough values for the DOWEX and Lewatit resins for chloride contents of 10 g/L were 180 and 245 BV, respectively, while for 1 g/L, these values were 620 and 890 BV. This allowed obtaining elution solutions of 890 mg Mo/L for the DOWEX resin and 1000 mg Mo/L for the Lewatit resin. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Chinese yam (Dioscorea polystachya, DP) is promising for the food and pharmaceutical industries due to its nutritional value and pharmaceutical potential. Its proper cultivation is therefore of interest. An insufficient supply of minerals necessary for plant growth can be manifested by discoloration of the leaves. In our earlier study, magnesium deficiency was excluded as a cause. As a follow-up, this work focused on manganese and molybdenum. To quantify both minerals in leaf extracts of DP, analytical methods based on atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS) using the graphite furnace sub-technique were devised. The development revealed that the quantification of manganese works best without using any of the investigated modifiers. The optimized pyrolysis and atomization temperatures were 1300 °C and 1800 °C, respectively. For the analysis of molybdenum, calcium proved to be advantageous as a modifier. The optimum temperatures were 1900 °C and 2800 °C, respectively. Both methods showed satisfactory linearity for analysis. Thus, they were applied to quantify extracts from normal and discolored leaves of DP concerning the two minerals. It was found that discolored leaves had higher manganese levels and a lower molybdenum content. With these results, a potential explanation for the discoloration could be found. 1,2,3,4,5-pentathiepines (PTEs) are naturally occurring polysulfides of increasing scientific interest based on their identified pharmacological activities. Artificial PTEs with N-heterocyclic backbones are efficiently synthesized via mediation by a molybdenum–oxo-bistetrasulfido complex. A common feature of all precursor alkynes successfully used to date in this reaction is the presence of a –CH(OEt)2 group since the previously postulated mechanism requires the presence of one OEt– as the leaving group, and the second must become a transient ethoxonium moiety. This raised the question of whether there really is a need for two, maybe only one, or possibly even zero ethoxy substituents. This research problem was systematically addressed by respective variations in the precursor-alkyne derivatives and by employing one related allene species. It was found that the total absence of ethoxy substituents prevents the formation of PTEs entirely, while the presence of a single ethoxy group results in the possibility to distinctly functionalize the position on the resulting N-heterocyclic pyrrole five ring in the target compound. This position was previously exclusively occupied by an –OEt for all products of the molybdenum-mediated reaction. The allene was applied with similar success as precursor as with the related alkyne. The now-employable significant change in precursor composition gives access to a whole new PTE subfamily, allowing further modulation of (physico)-chemical properties such as solubility, and provides additional insight into the mechanism of PTE formation; it comprises a merely partial validation of the previous hypothesis. The new alkyne precursors and pentathiepines were characterized by a variety of instrumental analyses (NMR, mass spec, UV–vis) and in six cases (one alkyne precursor, one unexpected side product, and four PTEs) by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Bioresorbable electrochemical sensors remain mostly unexplored despite their ability to provide continuous in situ measurements of critical biomarkers. The primary challenge arises from the direct exposure of the electrodes' thin metal films to biofluids, which poses difficulties in ensuring both proper operational lifetimes and sensing performance. Molybdenum (Mo) presents itself as a promising biometal due to its uniquely gradual dissolution in biofluids, facilitated by the formation of a slower‐dissolving MoOx surface layer. Consequently, carefully engineered MoOx films can endow transient electrochemical sensors with unparalleled stability during extended operational lifetimes. Herein an unprecedented sensor architecture achieved via the unique pairing of sputtered Mo and MoOx thin films, probed as a pH and dissolved oxygen sensor is reported. Compared to a bare Mo electrode, a bilayer Mo+MoOx electrode subjected to post‐deposition annealing (400 °C, 60 min, N2 environment) displayed a largely improved stability (>24 h) in solution and demonstrated predictable functionality during ongoing film dissolution at 37 °C. Molybdenum (Mo) is an essential micronutrient required for plant growth but is prone to leaching from neutral and alkaline soils. The use of slow-release Mo sources could potentially reduce leaching losses from soils and increase crop yields. In this study, we assessed mechanochemistry as a green method to produce slow-release Mo sources. Molybdenum compounds (MoO3 or (NH4)6Mo7O24·4H2O) were mechanochemically (MC) treated with ZnO to synthesize compounds with a Mo content of 1–36%. Reduced Mo solubility after MC treatment, compared to the initial Mo source, was obtained with the MoO3 source and these composites were used for co-compaction with macronutrient fertilizers. Macronutrient pellets with 0.2% Mo were compacted using the 4% Mo and 36% Mo (characterized as ZnMoO4) compounds. A column dissolution test showed that the 4% Mo compound in a macronutrient carrier (DAP and MAP) only released around 40% of the total Mo compared to 80% for a non-MC treated control over 72 h. Column leaching using two soils revealed that the release behavior of Mo was strongly related to the pH of the leachate, which was affected by both the soil pH and the macronutrient carrier. More Mo was released when the MC-treated compound was co-compacted with diammonium phosphate (DAP) compared to monoammonium phosphate (MAP). The MC-treated compound with 4% Mo showed significantly less leaching than the control without ball milling when co-compacted with both MAP and DAP. In a pot trial with simulated leaching, the uptake of Mo was greater for the MC-treated 4% Mo compound co-compacted into DAP than for the other Mo sources. To address issues of global energy sustainability, it is essential to develop highly efficient bifunctional transition metal-based electrocatalysts to accelerate the kinetics of both the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Herein, the heterogeneous molybdenum and vanadium codoped cobalt carbonate nanosheets loaded on nickel foam (VMoCoCOx@NF) are fabricated by facile hydrothermal deposition. Firstly, the mole ratio of V/Mo/Co in the composite is optimized by response surface methodology (RSM). When the optimized composite serves as a bifunctional catalyst, the water-splitting current density achieves 10 mA cm−2 and 100 mA cm−2 at cell voltages of 1.54 V and 1.61 V in a 1.0 M KOH electrolyte with robust stability. Furthermore, characterization is carried out using field emission scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectroscopy (FESEM-EDS), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal that the fabricated VMoCoCOx@NF catalyst synergistically decreases the Gibbs free energy of hydrogen and oxygen-containing intermediates, thus accelerating OER/HER catalytic kinetics. Benefiting from the concerted advantages of porous NF substrates and clustered VMoCoCOx nanosheets, the fabricated catalyst exhibits superior electrocatalytic performance. [Display omitted] Single-atom catalysts (SACs) have attracted extensive attention in the field of catalysis due to their excellent catalytic ability and enhanced atomic utilization, but the multi-mode single-atom nanozymes for biosensors remain a challenging issue. In this work, iron-doped carbon dots (Fe CDs) were loaded onto the edges and pores of Mo SACs with nanoflower morphology; accordingly, a composite material Fe CDs/Mo SACs was prepared successfully, which improves the catalytic performance and develops a fluorescence mode without changing the original morphology. The steady-state kinetic data indicates that the material prepared have better affinity for substrates and faster reaction rates under optimized conditions. The specific kinetic parameters K m and V max were calculated as 0.39 mM and 7.502×10−7 M·s−1 respectively. The excellent peroxidase-like activity of Fe CDs/Mo SACs allows H 2 O 2 to decompose into •OH, which in turn oxidizes colorless o -phenylenediamine (OPD) to yellow 2,3-diaminophenazine (DAP). At the same time, the fluorescence signal of Fe CDs/Mo SACs quenches obviously by DAP at 460 nm through internal filtration effect (IFE), while the characteristic fluorescence response of DAP gradually increases at 590 nm. Based on this sensing mechanism, a sensitive and accurate dual-mode (colorimetric and ratiometric fluorescent) sensor was constructed to detect H 2 O 2 and uric acid, and the rate of recovery and linearity were acceptable for the detection of UA in human serum and urine samples. The synthesized Ru-MoNi/MoO 2 possesses superior bifunctional activities for HER and HzOR, requiring only −13 mV and −34.5 mV in 1 M KOH and 1 M KOH + 0.5 M N 2 H 4 , respectively, for achieving 10 mA cm−2. New two‐dimensional (2D) transition‐metal borides have attracted considerable interest in research on electrode materials for Li‐ion batteries (LIBs) owing to their promising properties. In this study, 2D molybdenum boride (Mo2B2) with and without transition metal (TM, TM=Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Ru, and Pt) atom doping was investigated. Our results indicated that all TM‐doped Mo2B2 samples exhibited excellent electronic conductivity, similar to the intrinsic 2D Mo2B2 metal behavior, which is highly beneficial for application in LIBs. Moreover, we found that the diffusion energy barriers of Li along paths 1 and 2 for all TM‐doped Mo2B2 samples are smaller than 0.30 and 0.24 eV of the pristine Mo2B2. In particular, for 2D Co‐doped Mo2B2, the diffusion energy barriers of Li along paths 1 and 2 are reduced to 0.14 and 0.11 eV, respectively, making them the lowest Li diffusion barriers in both paths 1 and 2. This indicates that TM doping can improve the electrochemical performance of 2D Mo2B2 and that Co‐doped Mo2B2 is a promising electrode material for LIBs. The aim of this study is to investigate the antibacterial capabilities of different coating durations of three nanoparticle (NP) coatings: molybdenum (Mo), tantalum (Ta), and zinc oxide (ZnO), and their effects on the surface characteristics of 316L stainless steel (SS). The coated substrates underwent characterization utilizing field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDX), and X-ray diffractometer (XRD) techniques. The antibacterial efficacy of NPs was evaluated using the agar diffusion method. The FE-SEM and EDX images confirmed the presence of nano-sized particles of Mo, Ta, and ZnO on the surface of the substrates with perfectly symmetrical spheres and a uniform distribution of the NPs. All groups demonstrated antibacterial activity, and the ability to inhibit the growth of Streptococcus mutans and Lactobacillus acidophilus bacteria. The ZnO group had the most potent antibacterial effect, followed by the Mo group, while the Ta group had the least effect. A direct-current (DC) plasma sputtering system was used to produce nano-coatings of high purity that were homogeneous, crack-free and showed no sign of delamination. Bacterial strains exposed to Mo, Ta, and ZnO coated surfaces exhibited a significant loss of viability in a time-dependent manner. The current study was designed to explore all possible etiological features including mineral composition of soil and their effects on hematobiochemical profile in buffaloes suffering from post-parturient hemoglobinuria. The total 384 buffaloes were randomly selected from Tehsil Bhalwal, District Sargodha, Pakistan. The post parturient hemoglobinuria was observed during the period of four months, from November 2016 to February 2017. The parameters including point prevalence of PPHU and hemato-biochemical profile were investigated. The data was analyzed using T-test and regression analysis through SPSS software. Out of 384 animals, 40 (10.4%) were confirmed with PPHU. All hemato-biochemical profile showed significant difference between healthy and affected groups instead mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC), serum calcium and glucose, which were not significant. Vital signs including pulse and respiration showed significant difference but heart rate was found non-significant between both groups. The results regarding mineral analysis of the soil showed significant difference in phosphorus and copper and non-significant difference in calcium and molybdenum. Moreover, strong positive correlation was associated with phosphorus and molybdenum level while moderate positive correlation was attributed to the calcium and copper level in the soil. It is concluded that post parturient hemoglobinuria in buffaloes of Tehsil Bhalwal was associated with variation of soil composition, particularly the deficiency of phosphorus which is main cause of hemoglobinuria. Pre-existing concealed goafs underneath open-pit slopes (PCO-goafs) pose a serious threat to the stability of open-pit slopes (OP-slopes), which is a common problem worldwide. In this paper, the variable weight-target approaching method, equilibrium beam theory, Pratt's arch theory, and numerical simulation are used to analyze the management solutions and stability of five PCO-goaf groups in the Nannihu molybdenum mine located in Luoyang City, Henan Province, China. The five PCO-goaf groups, numbered 1#, 2#, 3#, 4#, and 5#, are divided into four hazard classes, ranging from extremely poor to good stability. The stability of 1#, 2#, and 4# is poor and must be managed by filling, and the design strength of backfill is 1.2 MPa; caving is used to treat 3# and 5#, and the safe thickness of the overlying roof is calculated to be 10.5–41 m. After treatment, the safety coefficient of the slope is greater than 1.2, indicating that the slope is stable. Placental health and foetal development are dependent upon element homeostasis. Analytical techniques such as mass spectroscopy can provide quantitative data on element concentrations in placental tissue but do not show spatial distribution or co-localisation of elements that may affect placental function. The present study used synchrotron-based X-ray fluorescence microscopy to elucidate element content and distribution in healthy and pathological placental tissue. The X-ray fluorescence microscopy (XFM) beamline at the Australian Synchrotron was used to image trace metal content of 19 placental sections from healthy term (n = 5, 37–39 weeks), foetal growth-restricted (n = 3, <32 weeks, birth weight <3rd centile), postdate (n = 7, >41 completed weeks), and stillbirth-complicated pregnancies (n = 4, 37–40 weeks). Samples were cryo-sectioned and freeze-dried. The concentration and distribution of fourteen elements were detected in all samples: arsenic, bromine, calcium, chlorine, copper, iron, molybdenum, phosphorous, potassium, rubidium, selenium, strontium, sulphur, and zinc. The elements zinc, calcium, phosphorous, and strontium were significantly increased in stillbirth placental tissue in comparison to healthy-term controls. Strontium, zinc, and calcium were found to co-localise in stillbirth tissue samples, and calcium and strontium concentrations were correlated in all placental groups. Molybdenum was significantly decreased in stillbirth, foetal growth-restricted, and postdate placental tissue in comparison to healthy-term samples (p < 0.0001). Synchrotron-based XFM reveals elemental distribution within biological samples such as the placenta, allowing for the co-localisation of metal deposits that may have a pathological role. Molybdenum is an essential micronutrient, but because of its toxicity at high concentrations, its accumulation in living organisms has not been widely demonstrated. In this study, we report that the marine sponge Theonella conica accumulates exceptionally high levels of molybdenum (46,793 micrograms per gram of dry weight) in a wide geographic distribution from the northern Red Sea to the reefs of Zanzibar, Indian Ocean. The element is found in various sponge body fractions and correlates to selenium. We further investigated the microbial composition of the sponge and compared it to its more studied congener, Theonella swinhoei. Our analysis illuminates the symbiotic bacterium Entotheonella sp. and its role in molybdenum accumulation. Through microscopic and analytical methods, we provide evidence of intracellular spheres within Entotheonella sp. that exhibit high molybdenum content, further unraveling the intricate mechanisms behind molybdenum accumulation in this sponge species and its significance in the broader context of molybdenum biogeochemical cycling. One-dimensional metallic transition-metal chalcogenide nanowires (TMC-NWs) hold promise for interconnecting devices built on two-dimensional (2D) transition-metal dichalcogenides, but only isotropic growth has so far been demonstrated. Here we show the direct patterning of highly oriented Mo6Te6 NWs in 2D molybdenum ditelluride (MoTe2) using graphite as confined encapsulation layers under external stimuli. The atomic structural transition is studied through in-situ electrical biasing the fabricated heterostructure in a scanning transmission electron microscope. Atomic resolution high-angle annular dark-field STEM images reveal that the conversion of Mo6Te6 NWs from MoTe2 occurs only along specific directions. Combined with first-principles calculations, we attribute the oriented growth to the local Joule-heating induced by electrical bias near the interface of the graphite-MoTe2 heterostructure and the confinement effect generated by graphite. Using the same strategy, we fabricate oriented NWs confined in graphite as lateral contact electrodes in the 2H-MoTe2 FET, achieving a low Schottky barrier of 11.5 meV, and low contact resistance of 43.7 Ω µm at the metal-NW interface. Our work introduces possible approaches to fabricate oriented NWs for interconnections in flexible 2D nanoelectronics through direct metal phase patterning. In this work, we report on the development of a computational algorithm that explores the configurational isomer space of bimetallic decametalates with general formula M x M 10 − x ′ O 28 q . For x being a natural number in the range of 0 to 10, the algorithm identifies 318 unique configurational isomers. The algorithm is used to generate mixed molybdenum(VI)–vanadium(V) systems Mo x V 10 − x O 28 8 − for x = 0 , 1 , 2 , and 3 that are of experimental relevance. The application of the density functional theory (DFT) effectively predicts stability trends that correspond well with empirical observations. In dimolybdenum-substituted decavanadate systems, we discover that a two-electron reduction preferentially stabilizes a configurational isomer due to the formation of metal–metal bonding. Molybdenum (Mo) is a rare and important element extensively utilised in aerospace, radar communications, optoelectronic devices, and the military. This study proposes an environmentally friendly physical method based on photon–phonon resonance absorption for the separation of Mo from sodium molybdate (Na2MoO4). We examined the vibrational spectrum of Na2MoO4 using the CASTEP code, employing first-principles density functional theory. Through dynamic process analysis, we analysed the vibrational modes and assigned peaks corresponding to experimental infrared (IR) and Raman data. We focused on the vibrational modes associated with Mo and identified that the highest-intensity IR-active peak at 858 cm−1 corresponded to Mo–O bond asymmetric stretching. Therefore, we propose the use of a high-power terahertz laser at ~25 THz to facilitate the separation of Mo from Na2MoO4. Experimental investigations are expected in the future. Layered oxide cathode materials have good structural stability and high capacity, making them ideal cathode materials of Na-ion batteries (SIBs). Nonetheless, the irreversible phase transitions and metal dissolution often result in poor cycling stability. Here, a simple strategy was developed to Na 2 MoO 4 and MoO 3 coated Na 0.67 Fe 0.15 Cu 0.1 Mn 0.65 Ni 0.1 O 2 (NFCMN-M) as cathode material of SIBs with ultrahigh cycling stability caused by the enhanced kinetic. The formed Na 2 MoO 4 layer on the surface of Na 0.67 Fe 0.15 Cu 0.1 Mn 0.65 Ni 0.1 O 2 (NFCMN) particles supplies a good conductive connection, and inhibits side effects between cathode material and electrolyte. Thanks to the unique component, the as-prepared NFCMN-M shows a good rate performance with a reversible discharge capacity of 132.4, 112.6, 102.3, 87.1 and 79.3 mAh g−1 at 0.1, 0.5, 1, 3 and 5C, respectively. The NFCMN-M also delivers an initial capacity of 73.7 mAh g−1 at 10C and an ultrahigh cycling stability with a capacity retention rate of about 80 % after 1000 cycles. The result confirms that the Na 2 MoO 4 modification is a direct and effective strategy to improve the capacity and enhance cycling stability of NFCMN at high charge-discharge rates. A method has been developed to calculate a squared-off cascade with an arbitrary number of external flows by varying the cuts of partial flows of the stages and minimizing the deviations of the calculated feed flows of the stages from specified flows. To minimize the deviations of the flows, a honeybee-colony algorithm ensuring a required accuracy in determining the parameters of the cascade was used. Aqueous zinc−ion batteries (ZIBs) are widely recognized as highly promising energy storage devices because of their inherent characteristics, including superior safety, affordability, eco−friendliness, and various other benefits. However, the significant corrosion of the zinc metal anode, side reactions occurring between the anode and electrolyte, and the formation of zinc dendrites significantly hinder the practical utilization of ZIBs. Herein, we utilized an electrodeposition method to apply a unique hydrous molybdenum oxide (HMoOx) layer onto the surface of the zinc metal anode, aiming to mitigate its corrosion and side reactions during the process of zinc deposition and stripping. In addition, the HMoOx layer not only improved the hydrophilicity of the zinc anode, but also adjusted the migration of Zn2+, thus facilitating the uniform deposition of Zn2+ to reduce dendrite formation. A symmetrical cell with the HMoOx−Zn anode displayed reduced−voltage hysteresis (80 mV at 2.5 mA/cm2) and outstanding cycle stability after 3000 cycles, surpassing the performance of the uncoated Zn anode. Moreover, the HMoOx−Zn anode coupled with a γ−MnO2 cathode created a considerably more stable rechargeable full battery compared to the bare Zn anode. The HMoOx−Zn||γ−MnO2 full cell also displayed excellent cycling stability with a charge/discharge−specific capacity of 129/133 mAh g−1 after 300 cycles. High sensitivity and selectivity and short response and recovery times are important for practical conductive polymer gas sensors. However, poor stability, poor selectivity, and long response times significantly limit the applicability of single-phase conducting polymers, such as polypyrrole (PPy). In this study, PPy/MoS2 composite films were prepared via chemical polymerization and mechanical blending, and flexible thin-film resistive NO2 sensors consisting of copper heating, fluorene polyester insulating, and PPy/MoS2 sensing layers with a silver fork finger electrode were fabricated on a flexible polyimide substrate using a flexible electronic printer. The PPy/MoS2 composite films were characterized using X-ray diffraction, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, and field-emission scanning electron microscopy. A home-built gas sensing test platform was built to determine the resistance changes in the composite thin-film sensor with temperature and gas concentration. The PPy/MoS2 sensor exhibited better sensitivity, selectivity, and stability than a pure PPy sensor. Its response to 50 ppm NO2 was 38% at 150 °C, i.e., 26% higher than that of the pure PPy sensor, and its selectivity and stability were also higher. The greater sensitivity was attributed to p–n heterojunction formation after MoS2 doping and more gas adsorption sites. Thus, PPy/MoS2 composite film sensors have good application prospects. The hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) coupling with electro-oxidative cleavage of thermodynamically favorable polyols is a promising way to coproduce H 2 and formate via electrochemical means, highly active catalysts for HER and electrooxidative cleavage of polycols are the key to achieve such a goal. Herein, molybdenum (Mo), tungsten (W) doped cobalt phosphides (Co 2 P) deposited onto nickel foam (NF) substrate, denoted as Mo-Co 2 P/NF and W-Co 2 P/NF, respectively, were investigated as catalytic electrodes for HER and electrochemical glycerol oxidation reaction (GOR) to yield H 2 and formate. The W-Co 2 P/NF electrode exhibited low overpotential (η) of 113 mV to attain a current density (J) of −100 mA cm−2 for HER, while the Mo-Co 2 P/NF electrode demonstrated high GOR efficiency for selective production of formate. In situ Raman and infrared spectroscopic characterizations revealed that the evolved CoO 2 from Co 2 P is the genuine catalytic sites for GOR. The asymmetric electrolyzer based on W-Co 2 P/NF cathode and Mo-Co 2 P/NF anode delivered a J = 100 mA cm−2 at 1.8 V voltage for glycerol electrolysis, which led to 18.2 % reduced electricity consumption relative to water electrolysis. This work highlights the potential of heteroelement doped phosphide in catalytic performances for HER and GOR, and opens up new avenue to coproduce more widespread commodity chemicals via gentle and sustainable electrocatalytic means. Manufacturing titanium alloys with simultaneous enhancement in strength and ductility has motivated extensive research into various strategies for regulating the arrangement and texture of α and β phases. The present study explores a novel α + β titanium alloy, TIMETAL 639 (Ti-639), produced by replacing a portion of vanadium in Ti-64 with molybdenum. The low diffusivity and β-stabilizing effects of molybdenum help retain bimodal characteristics within solution heat-treated Ti-639 microstructures. EBSD and TEM were used to examine β-phase evolution after thermal processing and recrystallization of new globular α grains within pre-existing colonies in a depleted bimodal microstructure. These depleted bimodal colonies in solution heat-treated Ti-639 also led to lower misorientation spreads and dislocation densities within neighboring primary α grains. Quasi-static compression along the plate normal direction demonstrated the ability of the depleted bimodal microstructure to simultaneously enhance strength and ductility in Ti-639 (~90 MPa stronger, ~6% higher failure strain) versus identically processed Ti-64. Only one solution heat-treatment step (1 h at 900 °C) is needed to achieve these properties in Ti-639, whereas comparable properties in Ti-64 required prolonged aging heat treatment (24 h at 600 °C) after the same solution heat-treatment step, making Ti-639 a viable α + β alloy candidate. On the basis of previous work, this paper systematically investigates the influence parameters and leaching kinetics of the ammonia leaching process of molybdenum calcine obtained by microwave roasting. The conditions of the ammonia leaching process of calcined molybdenum were optimized by changing the parameters of ammonia concentration, solid–liquid ratio, and leaching temperature. The results show that, when the concentration of ammonia was 25%, the mass of calcined molybdenum and the volume of ammonia were 1/2 g/ml, the leaching temperature was 75°C, and the leaching time was 60 min, the leaching efficiency of molybdenum can reach 91.74%, and the content of ammonium molybdate in the leaching product was 97.23 wt.%. In the leaching process, MoO3 in the solid phase is dissolved by ammonia to form ammonium molybdate, which conforms to the shrinking core model. The activation energy of the reaction is 57.8 kJ/mol and the rate control step is determined by the mixed model of chemical reaction and product layer diffusion. We present measurements of the 2p-3d transition opacity of a hot molybdenum–scandium sample with nearly half-vacant molybdenum M-shell configurations. A plastic-tamped molybdenum–scandium foil sample is radiatively heated to high temperature in a compact D-shaped gold Hohlraum driven by ∼30 kJ laser energy at the SG-100 kJ laser facility. X rays transmitted through the molybdenum and scandium plasmas are diffracted by crystals and finally recorded by image plates. The electron temperatures in the sample in particular spatial and temporal zones are determined by the K-shell absorption of the scandium plasma. A combination of the IRAD3D view factor code and the MULTI hydrodynamic code is used to simulate the spatial distribution and temporal behavior of the sample temperature and density. The inferred temperature in the molybdenum plasma reaches a average of 138 ± 11 eV. A detailed configuration-accounting calculation of the n = 2–3 transition absorption of the molybdenum plasma is compared with experimental measurements and quite good agreement is found. Structural, electronic, optical, thermoelectric ,and elastic properties of Mo- and W-based group-V compounds, TMX (TM = Mo and W; X = N, P, and As) have been studied by using the full-potential linear augmented plane wave method. Local spin density approximation (LSDA) has been used for exchange–correlation potentials. Pressure-dependent lattice constants and bulk moduli have been obtained using LSDA. Volume optimization, with and without spin-polarization, reveal that the WC-type hexagonal phase (MoN, MoP, and WN) and MoAs and WP in MnP-type orthorhombic phase are energetically stable in a non-magnetic phase. The electronic properties show that all these materials are metallic in nature, while the optical properties showed high reflectivity and low transmission. The thermoelectric properties have also been elaborated, and, as these materials have zero band gap values, they showed high thermal conductivity at high temperatures with low Seebeck and almost constant electrical conductivity. Moreover, the elastic properties of these two phases are surprising with their high bulk and shear moduli. In this study, we elucidate the synthesis and characterization of molybdenum (Mo) doped zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoflowers (Mo-ZnO@NF) fabricated via a hydrothermal approach, showcasing their potential application in hydrogen generation and dye degradation. The successful synthesis of these nanoflowers is achieved through the deliberate incorporation of Mo ions into the ZnO lattice, yielding a distinctive hierarchical flower-like morphology. Comprehensive structural, morphological, and optical analyses are conducted employing a suite of analytical techniques, encompassing XRD, Raman, FESEM, and UVVisible spectroscopy. XRD analysis confirms the retention of the hexagonal wurtzite crystal structure, accompanied by discernible peak shifts indicative of Mo ion integration. FESEM imaging further elucidates the flower-like architecture of Mo-ZnO, underscoring the intricate morphological features. Photocatalytic assessment reveals the remarkable efficacy of Mo-ZnO@NF, as evidenced by an unprecedented hydrogen evolution rate of 2024mmol/h/g and 97% Methylene Blue (MB) dye degradation within a mere 40-minute timeframe. Furthermore, a comparative investigation between pristine ZnO and varying Mo doping concentrations (ranging from 1% to 5%) underscores the optimal doping concentration of 1% Mo in ZnO. This concentration threshold is shown to engender superior photocatalytic performance, potentially attributed to enhanced charge carrier separation and increased surface area conducive to catalytic reactions. This study aimed to determine the most suitable woody species that can be used to reduce the pollution of Sr, Mo, and Sn, which are heavy metals that are harmful to the ecosystem and human and environmental health. Within the study’s scope, samples were taken from the wood parts of 16 woody species growing under similar conditions in Düzce province, which is among the five cities with the most polluted air in Europe. The wood part is the largest organ of higher plants in terms of mass; it traps heavy metals within itself for many years and can remove heavy metals to a great extent. Therefore, plants with a high potential for heavy metal accumulation in the wood part are among the most suitable plants for phytoremediation studies. The study determined Sr, Mo, and Sn concentrations in the wood parts of 16 tree species via inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy and compared them using statistical methods. Results indicate that Robinia pseudoacacia and Cedrus atlantica species were suitable for reducing pollution by Mo and Sn, while Platanus orientalis and Populus alba species were suitable for reducing Sr pollution.

In this study, the hydrogen reduction mechanism of MoO3 was analyzed in detail using Ti–Mo core–shell powder manufactured through a milling and reduction process. MoO3 and Ti powders were ball-milled to refine the MoO3 powder and coat it onto the Ti powder to fabricated core-shell structure. Subsequently, the milled powder was heat-treated at 600°C in a hydrogen atmosphere to reduce MoO3 to nano-sized Mo. In addition, the reduction behavior of MoO3 was analyzed by varing the reduction times to 1, 10, 30 min and 1, 3, 5 h. Phase analysis was conducted using X-ray diffraction, and oxidation state analysis was conducted using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Morphology analysis was performed using scanning electron microscopy, and elemental analysis was conducted using electron probe micro-analysis. It was confirmed that Mo9O26 and Mo4O11 intermediate phases were formed sequentially as MoO3 was reduced to MoO2, and Mo9O26 had a plate shape with a thickness of sub-70 nm, and Mo4O11 exhibited a thickness of sub-300 nm. Especially, the Mo2O3 intermediate phase, previously studied only theoretically, was experimentally confirmed for the first time in the reduction process from MoO2 to Mo. Furthermore, the analysis of Mo-oxide intermediate phases was explained by the structural characteristics of the core–shell. The shell of Mo oxide was thick and dense, making it difficult for the vapor phase necessary for CVT reduction to penetrate and diffuse into the shell. As a result, the rapid CVT reduction occurred outside the shell, while relatively slower reduction occurred inside the shell where intermediate phases were observed.

With the increasing demand for fuel for global usage and CO2 emissions, greener alternatives are needed, especially in biojet fuel production. Catalyst preparation involves the impregnation of Ni and Mo metals into H-ZSM-5 using a dry impregnation method with spray deposition, resulting in Ni/ZSM-5 and Mo/ZSM-5 catalysts. Catalyst characterization utilizes FT-IR, XRD, SAA, SEM-EDX, XRF, and NH3-TPD instruments. The activity and selectivity tests of the catalysts were conducted in the hydrotreating of palm oil using Ni/ZSM-5 monolayer, Ni/ZSM-5 bilayer, Mo/ZSM-5 monolayer, Mo/ZSM-5 bilayer, as well as Ni/ZSM-5 bottom-layer and Mo/ZSM-5 top-layer arrangements. The result showed double-layer Ni/ZSM-5 as the best catalyst in activity and selectivity in producing biojet fuel fractions with consecutive conversion, selectivity, and yield of 29.71%, 84.76%, and 24.34%, respectively. The layers of catalyst affected the catalytic activity and selectivity, resulting in a higher yield.

[Display omitted] Supercapacitors (SCs) using ammonium-ion (NH 4 +) as the charge carrier (NH 4 +-SCs) have attracted continuous attention and vanadium-based materials are proved to have high-efficient NH 4 +-storage properties. Monoclinic vanadium dioxide, VO 2 (B), as an anode material applied to SCs has been rarely reported and modulating its electronic structure for boosted NH 4 +-storage is full of challenge. In this work, molybdenum-doped VO 2 (B) (Mo-doped VO 2 (B)) is designed and synthesize to enhance its NH 4 +-storage. The introduction of Mo atom into the crystal structure of VO 2 (B) can modulate its crystal structure and bring in some defects. Experimental results manifest that Mo-doped VO 2 (B) with 2 % Mo-doping shows the best electrochemical properties. Mo-doped VO 2 (B) achieves the specific capacitance of 1403 F g−1 (390 mAh g−1) at 0.1 A g−1 and the capacitance retention of about 98 % after 5000 cycle, superior to that of VO 2 (B) (893 F g−1, 248 mAh g−1 at 0.1 A g−1 and 60 % capacitance retention. The hybrid supercapacitor (HSC) assembled by Mo-doped VO 2 (B) and active carbon delivers good electrochemical performance with the energy density of 38.6 Wh kg−1 at power density of 208.3 W kg−1. Oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is the efficiency limiting half-reaction in water electrolysis for green hydrogen production due to the 4-electron multistep process with sluggish kinetics. The electrooxidation of thermodynamically more favorable organics accompanied by C C coupling is a promising way to synthesize value-added chemicals instead of OER. Efficient catalyst is of paramount importance to fulfill such a goal. Herein, a molybdenum iron carbide-copper hybrid (Mo 2 C-FeCu) was designed as anodic catalyst, which demonstrated decent OER catalytic capability with low overpotential of 238 mV at response current density of 10 mA cm−2 and fine stability. More importantly, the Mo 2 C-FeCu enabled electrooxidation assisted aldol condensation of phenylcarbinol with α -H containing alcohol/ketone in weak alkali electrolyte to selective synthesize cinnamaldehyde/benzalacetone at reduced potential. The hydroxyl and superoxide intermediate radicals generated at high potential are deemed to be responsible for the electrooxidation of phenylcarbinol and aldol condensation reactions to afford cinnamaldehyde/benzalacetone. Herein, we report a novel dual-homojunction photocatalyst comprising of cyano/cyanamide groups co-modified carbon nitride (CN-TH) intramolecular homojunction and 1 T/2H-MoSe 2 homojunction (denoted as 1 T/2H-MoSe 2 /CN-TH) for enhanced photocatalytic CO 2 reduction. In this dual-homojunction photocatalyst, the intramolecular CN-TH homojunction could promote the intralayer charge separation and transfer owing to the strong electron-withdrawing capabilities of the two-type cyanamide, while the 1 T/2H-MoSe 2 homojunction mainly contributes to a promote interlayer charge transport of CN-TH. This could consequently induce a tandem multi-step charge transfer and accelerate the charge transfer dynamics, resulting in enhanced CO 2 reduction activities. Thanks to this tandem multi-step charge transfer, the optimized 1 T/2H-MoSe 2 /CN-TH dual-homojunction photocatalyst presented a high CO yield of 27.36 μmol·g−1·h−1, which is 3.58 and 2.87 times higher than those of 1 T/2H-MoSe 2 /CN and 2H-MoSe 2 /CN-TH single homojunctions, respectively. Molybdenum plays an important role as a nutrient for plants. It has an important role in the process of plant growth and fixing nitrogen for the plant. A field experiment conducted in the autumn of 2023 aimed to study how different fertilizer treatments affected the availability of molybdenum in maize (Zea mays L.) rhizosphere and nonrhizosphere soils. The treatments included sheep manure at a rate of 8 tons per hectare, urea at 400 kg per hectare, humic acid at 500 cm³ per liter per dunum, and a control group. The experiment followed a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications, using local maize seeds planted in 3 m by 3 m plots. After applying the treatments, the concentration of available molybdenum was measured in both soil regions at 70 and 100 days after planting. Results indicated that adding fertilizers (sheep manure, humic acid, and nitrogen) increased the concentration of available molybdenum in both soil regions. Specifically, the humic acid treatment had the highest concentration of available molybdenum at both 70 and 100 days, while the nitrogen treatment had the lowest. This highlights the importance of humic acid and organic materials in improving molybdenum availability. Furthermore, molybdenum concentration increased at the 100-day mark for all treatments outside the rhizosphere, except for the control, showing that all treatments enhanced molybdenum content both within and beyond the rhizosphere. This investigation was performed during the 2018 and 2019 seasons in a private vineyard to study the effect of calcium, magnesium fertigation and molybdenum foliar sprays on the yield and fruit quality of Flame seedless table grape cultivar. The experimental layout was arranged in a split-plot design. All treatments were applied on three dates: after the bud burst stage, at the fruit set stage and veraison stage. The results showed that the combined application of 30 Kg calcium with 20 Kg magnesium fertigation and foliar spraying of 30 ppm molybdenum was the most effective among all treatments in terms of enhancing vegetative growth characteristics, increasing leaf content of total chlorophylls and mineral elements as well as improving yield and fruit quality attributes.

In this research paper, a vertical tunnel field-effect transistor (TFET) structure containing a live metal strip and a material with low dielectric constant is designed, and its performance metrics are analyzed in detail. Low-k SiO2 is incorporated in the channel–drain region. A live molybdenum metal strip with low work function is placed in a high-k HfO2 layer in the source–channel region. The device is examined by the parameters Ioff, subthreshold swing, threshold voltage, and Ion/Ioff ratio. The introduction of a live metal strip in the dielectric layer closer to the source–channel interface results in a minimum subthreshold slope and a good Ion/Ioff ratio. The low-k material at the drain reduces the gate-to-drain capacitance. Both the SiO2 layer and the live metal strip show excellent leakage current reduction to 1.4 × 10−17 A/μm. The design provides a subthreshold swing of 5 mV/decade, which is an excellent improvement in TFETs, an on-current of 1.00 × 10−5 A/μm, an Ion/Ioff ratio of 7.14 × 1011, and a threshold voltage of 0.28 V.

The article considered the elements of the resource-saving technology for the production of vegetable peas with the use of low doses of synthetic fertilizers by stimulating the action of nitrogen-fixing nodule bacteria. They are symbionts of vegetable peas, with the help of bacteria and microfertilizers. They are much cheaper than mineral fertilizers and are not harmful for the environment and, thanks to microdoses, are absolutely safe for people. During the research, it was established that, in addition to increasing the yield of agricultural crops, such agro-techniques contribute to increasing soil fertility (due to the accumulation of a greater amount of biologically pure nitrogen in it after harvesting vegetable peas, compared to existing technologies) and make it possible to extend the period of technical maturity of seeds and the period of their processing. This is a very important and urgent problem in southern Ukraine. It was also determined that the treatment of seeds with boron, molybdenum and Rizotorfin affects the timing of the onset of the main phases of development and the duration of the growing season of vegetable peas, extending it by several days, and this, in turn, allows farmers to harvest on time without economic losses. For the first time, for the conditions of the south of Ukraine, an opportunity was found to significantly extend the term of receipt of raw materials for processing without deterioration of quality indicators and dietary properties. The proposed techniques allow, in addition to the existing technology, to accumulate up to 40-60 kg/ha of biological nitrogen in the soil. It was recorded that the highest yield of the vegetable pea crop was formed during the first sowing period, when the seeds were treated with boron and molybdenum and amounted to 9.21 t/ha, which is 2.32 t/ha higher than the control. Based on the generalization of research results, a mathematical model of vegetable pea crop programming was built based on the principle of relationships between individual factors that affect the culture and the formation of its plant productivity.

Maraging steels are one of the highest strength steels commercially available. The new versions are known as ultra-high strength maraging (UHSM) steels and can offer yield strength values over 3 GPa. The aim of this investigation was evaluating the electrochemical behavior of three non-commercial/laboratory UHSM steels containing 13Ni–15Co and Mo content variations (7.5, 11 and 15 wt%). The UHSM steels were annealed at 1000 °C and studied at different conditions (non-aged and aged at 480 °C for 3 h and 6 h). As reference material, a commercial maraging steel (18Ni–9Co–5Mo) heat treated according to typical recommendations (annealed at 820 °C for 1 h and aged at 480 °C for 4 h) was used. The UHSM presented considerable higher hardness than commercial maraging. Comparing between the UHSM steels, the samples treated for 6 h do not contribute to increase the hardness when compared to those of 3 h. The electrochemical tests in hydrochloric aqueous solution showed that commercial maraging steel and the UHSM containing most Mo (11 wt%) aged by 6 h presented the worst corrosion resistance while the best performance was obtained by the samples with 7.5 and 11 wt% Mo aged for 3 h.

Abstract Contamination of soils by Molybdenum (Mo) has raised increasing concern worldwide. Both fulvic acid (FA) and humic acid (HA) possess numerous positive properties, such as large specific surface areas and microporous structure that facilitates the immobilization of the heavy metal in soils. Despite these characteristics, there have been few studies on the microbiology effects of FA and HA. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the Mo immobilization effects of FA and HA, as well as the associated changes in microbial community in Mo-contaminated soils (with application rates of 0%, 0.5% and 1.0%). The result of the incubation demonstrated a decrease in soil pH (from 8.23 ~ 8.94 to 8.05 ~ 8.77). Importantly, both FA and HA reduced the exchangeable fraction and reducible fraction of Mo in the soil, thereby transforming Mo into a more stable form. Furthermore, the application of FA and HA led to an increase in the relative abundance of Actinobacteriota and Firmicutes, resulting in alterations to the microbial community structure. However, it is worth noting that due to the differing structures and properties of FA and HA, these outcomes were not entirely consistent. In summary, the aging of FA and HA in soil enhanced their capacity to immobilization Mo as a soil amendment. This suggests that they have the potential to serve as effective amendments for the remediation of Mo-contaminated soils.

A pure molybdenum (Mo) coating layer was manufactured by using the atmospheric plasma spray (APS) process and its wear and corrosion characteristics were investigated in this study. A Mo coating layer was prepared to a thickness of approximately 480 μm, and it had sound physical properties with a porosity of 2.9% and hardness of 434 Hv. Room temperature dry wear characteristics were measured through a ball-on-disk test under load conditions of 5 N, 10 N and 15 N. Based on the coefficient of friction graph at 5 N and 10 N, the oxides formed during wear functioned as a wear lubricant, thereby confirming an increase in wear resistance. However, at 15 N, wear behavior changed, and wear occurred due to splat pulling out. A potentiodynamic polarization test was conducted under an artificial seawater atmosphere, and Ecorr and Icorr measured 0.717 V and 7.2E-5 A/cm2, respectively. Corrosion mainly occurred at the splat boundary and pores that were present in the initial state. Based on the findings above, the potential application of APS Mo coating material was also discussed.
