The primary goal of the study is to look at how entrepreneurship affects regional economic development in the Nkangala District Municipal area. Economic empowerment, income and employment development, economic restructuring, and the eradication of economic inequality can all be achieved through entrepreneurship. Through creating jobs, encouraging creativity, creating effective techniques for utilising resources, and improving people's socioeconomic well-being, entrepreneurship promotes economic progress. This investigation employs a quantitative research approach. There are 55 business owners in the study sample. The data from the study were analysed using SPSS. Regression and correlation analysis were used to quantitatively analyse the research variables. Using Cronbach's Alpha, the results indicated that a coefficient greater than.70 ensures the validity and reliability of the research instruments. The study concludes that building knowledge and abilities in this area, emphasising entrepreneurial education, and considering mentorship initiatives are crucial. Recognising adequate education in the context of the digital economy and the fourth industrial revolution is one of the main principles in this. The use of digital technology affects the environment and creates previously unthinkable exponential development for new participants with a variety of business models and philosophies. This study assessed the moderating effects of security threats on investment-economic growth nexus in Nigeria from 1986 to 2021 using the Vector Error Correction Model approach. Domestic investment and FDI were found to have a positive impact on Nigeria's long-term economic growth. The study also found that security threats have a strong negative effect on economic growth in Nigeria, and that the presence of security threats significantly reduced the positive influence of investment on economic growth in Nigeria. Thus, the marginal effects of investment when there are security threats in Nigeria was worsened. The study therefore emphasized that security threats significantly hinder the positive contributions of domestic and foreign investments to economic growth, especially foreign direct investment. Therefore, the study recommends that Nigerian government should enhance security measures to combat political instability, terrorism, and social unrest in order to create a more favourable business environment and encourage both domestic and foreign investment. NOAA Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory's (PMEL's) approach to tsunami research is unique among such laboratories in that tsunami observations and modeling are under one roof, offering the advantages of enhancing the speed and lowering the cost of developments. Here, we chronicle the history of the transfer of deep-ocean observational and flooding modeling technologies within and outside of NOAA and provide a case study for future transfers. PMEL and partners' efforts in transferring tsunami technology have been very successful, resulting in improved protection of global communities with high tsunami risk while enhancing the new blue economy. The transfer of observational technology within NOAA required years of effort, while the transfer outside of NOAA only required a patent and license agreement. During the transfer process, three additional generations of observational technologies were created. The transfer of tsunami flooding modeling technology required a validation process for transfer into NOAA operations and an international training program to allow access to the technology by other countries. During this model development, a web-based product was created to simplify the use of and access to these models for both real-time and hazard assessment applications. We present lessons learned from these transfers, including the need for support as long as the technology is in use. This study examines the influence of the State bank of the State of Pará, a development bank, on the socioeconomic growth of municipalities in the State of Pará, Brazil. Unlike commercial banks that often reduce their branch network, Banpará has expanded its presence in almost all municipalities. Using spatial econometrics and impact assessment methodologies, the study measures the impact of Banpará branches on these municipalities. The results demonstrate a positive effect contributing to higher Gross Value Added (GVA) in the services sector and public administration of Pará. Additionally, municipalities that established a Banpará branch between 2010 and 2019 exhibited positive results in salaries and production. In the context of "space of flows", city-based innovation correlation in driving economic growth is no longer limited to the traditional hierarchical structure. It is of great significance to explore Chinese cities innovation association network from the perspective of high-tech zones which gather a large number of innovation resources. Here our report is to provide new ideas for improving the innovation capability of high-tech zones and accelerating the construction of Chinese high-quality innovation system. Here we take 142 cities with high-tech zones as research samples, and explore the characteristics and influencing factors of spatial network of city-based innovation correlation in China, through modified gravity modelsocial, network analysis and QAP analysis. The results show that city-based innovation network is not closely connected, the number of redundant connection channels is low efficiency, showing a four-level spatial pattern of "Z" shaped spindle. Among them, degree centrality of cities in eastern China is higher than that in the western region, the core cities in central China play a bridging role, and western remote cities are easily affected by related cities. Moreover, there are four innovation cohesion subgroups, including the northern hinterland subgroup, the eastern coastal subgroup, the southern subgroup and the western cooperation subgroup. Furthermore, the results of the influencing factors analysis show the differences in administrative level, economic development level, openness to the outside world, and investment in technology are conducive to the innovation association between cities, while the similarities in spatial adjacency and industrial structure will promote the strong innovation association between cities. It is crucial to examine the impact between foreign direct investment (FDI) and net exports (NE) for unveiling international trade dynamics, and the economic development of different geographical regions. It yields sharp insights into how FDI inflows, driven by theories such as backward linkage, export platform, and knowledge transfer, enhance a host country's export capacity and contribute to economic growth. Moreover, studying the reciprocal linkages between FDI and NE helps recognise the aspects of domestic factors, such as productivity and the product life cycle, in attracting FDI and increasing export performance. Based on those theories, the study aims to ascertain the dynamic causality or correlation between FDI and NE across all regions with the utilisation of panel data gathered from 110 countries, considering the period from 2002 to 2020. The Wavelet coherence method is used to investigate the relationship between these variables across different frequencies and periods, followed by a Granger causality test. The findings demonstrated that FDI and NE have a significant relationship in most regions, with a bidirectional relationship between FDI and NE across all continents. The results could assist respective governments and policymakers in formulating policies related to FDI flows and offer insights into how a host country can attract more FDI and boost NE. Some advanced countries' rapid population, economic growth, and energy consumption expansion contribute significantly to global CO2 emissions. And while developed countries have achieved 100% universal access to electricity, mainly from non-renewable sources, many developing countries still lack it. This presents challenges and opportunities for achieving the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 7 and 13 of generating all energy from cleaner or low-carbon sources to reduce CO2 emissions in all countries and combating climate change consequences. Renewable energies have been widely acknowledged to greatly advance this endeavour, resulting in many studies and about 30 countries already with over 70% of their national electricity mix from RE. It has birthed a new paradigm and an emerging field of 100% RE for all purposes, recently receiving much attention from academia and in public discourse. The major challenge with this idea is that achieving such a feat requires a more diverse approach. This study emphasises the need to meet technical and non-technical requirements for working towards a 100% RE for all purposes. Therefore, our work introduces six methodological or evaluation mechanisms (herein, identified as 100% RE evaluation metrics) suitable for existing and future 100% renewable energy analysis. It then reviews energy modelling tools to identify their applicability to 100% RE analysis. The review and perspectives presented in this study will be valuable in developing a common integrated methodology and modelling tool for analysing full renewable energy adoption in countries or regions with best trade-offs, using performance indices that have not been previously used. Achieving equitable and harmonized socio-economic development is a vital gauge of national progress, particularly in geographically extensive nations such as China. This study, employing nighttime lights as a socio-economic development indicator and remote sensing vegetation indices, investigates spatial variations in wealth distribution across China's eastern and western regions, delineated by the Hu Huanyong Line. It uncovers the balance between economic growth and green space preservation and discrepancies in development and green space allocation. A thorough county-level analysis using this nighttime light (NTL) and vegetation index exposes the dynamic shifts in socio-economic focal points. The Gini coefficient, assessing inequality and spatial autocorrelation within the index ratio, enriches our regional development understanding. The findings depict a heterogeneous yet rapid economic expansion, primarily within a 30 km coastal buffer zone. Despite a decrease in Gini coefficients in both eastern and western regions, the potential for inland development escalates as coastal illumination approaches saturation. This study unveils enduring, yet lessening, economic disparities between eastern and western China, underscoring the necessity for green preservation in eastern development plans. In this paper, we take the Yangtze River Economic Belt as the study area and analyze three types of environmental regulation tools, namely, command-and-control (CAC), market-incentivized (MI) and public-type (PT). We apply the threshold effect to test the impact of each of these tools on regional economic growth and analyze the relationships between the tools and environmental regulation. The entropy method is used to calculate the comprehensive environmental pollution index of each province and city in the Yangtze River Economic Belt. Using Stata 14.0 measurement software and based on provincial data with respect to the Yangtze River Economic Belt from 2014 to 2021, a panel threshold model is used to test the impact of the three types of environmental regulation tools on regional economic growth and analyze the relationship between environmental regulation and regional economic growth. It is found that the relationship between environmental regulation and economic growth is non-linear. There is no significant relationship between CAC environmental regulation and regional economic growth; there is a single threshold effect between market-incentive environmental regulation and public participation environmental regulation on the economic growth of the Yangtze River economic belt. Ecological footprint (EF) is created by human demands for water, infrastructure, energy and food, among other things, resulting in pollution, depletion of resources and ecological disturbance. The sustainability goal in relation to EF is to reduce the impact of climate change on natural resources for long‐term growth. Pakistan is a country facing an ecological deficit and has difficulty striking a balance between economic development and environmental protection worldwide. As a result of its significant role in achieving sustainability, which is essential for human life, EF has become a global phenomenon. The study considered the nexus of economic growth, EF and its subcomponents for the economy of Pakistan. The Johansen co‐integration technique was used to analyse the short‐run (ECM) and long‐run relationship. The results showed that urbanisation, financial development, economic growth and temperature have positive effects on EFs, whereas rainfall and carbon dioxide emissions have a negative effect on EFs. The ECM test demonstrates that studied variables are responsible for 46% of disequilibrium in EF, which is less than the moderate threshold. On the contrary, in the model of EF, the coefficient of temperature in the long‐run speed is negative, indicating that the system is diverging from equilibrium and correcting its prior period disequilibrium at a rate of 663% a year, while that of CO2 emissions is positive, indicating that the system is converging towards equilibrium and correcting its prior period disequilibrium at a rate of 77.2% a year. Environmentally friendly initiatives and green financing are needed to reduce pollution and transition to a low‐carbon energy system. This research was conducted to assess the efficacy of green bond financing for scaling up environmentally responsible investment in preparation for the low‐carbon energy transition in emerging Asian economies. The generalized method of moment's methodology is used to examine the impact of green finance, CO2 emission, and economic growth on the environmental investment of emerging nations over the period 2000–2021. The result showed that all these factors contribute significantly to environmental investment. In addition, the results showed that the burdens of global warming are achievable to alleviate through green bonds for the optimum transition to low‐carbon energy. Moreover, these economies have enacted measures to assist them in becoming green and encourage green initiatives, which function harmoniously with each other and have decreased carbon emissions, leading to the possible adaptation of green environmental investment sources. Hence, it is recommended that these economies boost their green financing activities, low‐carbon emissions, and economic development so that eco‐innovation and ecological investment can be made properly. Energy is unquestionably necessary for economic progress, but it also results in carbon emissions, which are the leading cause of environmental deterioration and climate change. From this perspective, clean energy can contribute to both sustainable development and ecological sustainability, as it consists of non‐carbohydrate energy sources that do not or rarely emit greenhouse gases. In this context, this paper investigates economic policy uncertainty (EPU), economic expansion (EE) and clean energy consumption (EC) on carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in Russia from 1995 to 2021. The autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model was used to illustrate the interdependence of factors. The error correction model (ECM) is also used to check the relationship among the study's desired factors. The long‐term investigation found that EPU harms the environment by increasing emission levels. The economic expansion increases CO2 emissions and reduces the environmental quality, supporting the ecological modernization argument. The consumption of clean energy negatively impacts CO2 emission; hence its higher amount reduces the carbon. Thus, the study found a causal relationship between EPU, EC, EE and CO2 emissions. Based on the study's findings, a policy framework is proposed to address the sustainable development goals and environmental quality. The global economic recession caused by COVID‐19 has posed a severe threat to the feasibility of renewable energy projects, hampering the United Nation (UN) sustainable development goals. Sustainable financing (SF) is a crucial instrument for promoting investment in renewable energy (IRE) sources, as it is regarded as a crucial aspect in achieving long‐term sustainability. This study sheds insight on the impact of SF, geopolitical risk (GPR), economic growth (EG), and environmental regulation (ER) on IRE sources by evaluating 10 years of data from 35 Chinese energy businesses from 2012 to 2021. The data analysis is done by utilizing quantile regression and dynamic analytic techniques, demonstrating that SF, EG, and ER have a significant positive effect on IRE sources. However, GPR has a significant detrimental impact on IRE in China. This is one of the early studies to examine the crucial role of SF, GPR, EG, and ER in IRE, which is critical for environmental sustainability. In addition, it provides policymakers and environmentalists with crucial insights for developing and executing environmental strategies that can deliver long‐term benefits and meet SD goals. In this paper, we have investigated the implications of the threshold effect of changes in FDI inflows for the nexus between energy consumption and economic growth in eight under-researched sub-Saharan African countries for the period 1971--2016. The countries are Benin, Congo, Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Sudan, and Zambia. Using the lag-augmented VAR (LAVAR) model (corrected for cross-sectional dependence), we develop an empirical framework tightly linked to the endogenous growth model that allows for a threshold effect of changes (strength and weakness) in FDI inflows on the nexus. Our findings show that the FDI inflows matter for the causal link between energy consumption and economic growth in some countries, although, for the cross-section as a whole, our bootstrap simulation supports the neutrality hypothesis. The overall results suggest that an energy demand policy, such as an energy conservation policy, should not cause any significant adverse side-effects to economic growth in those sub-Saharan African countries. Economic downturns have increased in recent years, and the impact of COVID-19 has slowed economic growth. The market's overall pessimism led to a contraction in the government's fiscal revenue. The Chinese economy has always relied on government investments. Local governments' productive investments have directly contributed to capital formation, which has promoted rapid economic growth. With the increase in expenditure pressure and the tightening of income caliber, will the continuous growth of the proportion of public service expenditure affect the established growth goals and hinder the efficiency of economic growth? This study explains this based on a general equilibrium model containing two types of government expenditure and uses China's 2010–2019 provincial panel data for the empirical analysis. Objective: The objective of this paper was to analyze the bidirectional relationship between financial development and economic growth for a dataset of Latin American and Asian developing countries between 2001 and 2019. Method: This research employed an empirical approach to analyze the statistical relationship between financial development and economic growth, by presenting an estimation of a system of simultaneous equations for a panel of Asian and Latin American countries using 3SLS. Main Results: The results presented in this research provided evidence that financial development does not appear to have a significant impact on economic growth, although growth appears to have a significant and positive influence on financial development. Moreover, the results also suggested that regulatory quality and domestic credit directed to the private sector have a positive effect on economic growth, while urbanization and education showed a negative influence on growth. The estimated model also indicated that urbanization has a positive influence on financial development while foreign direct investment presented a negative effect on the development of the financial sector. Relevance / Originality: Most of the research agenda on the topic of finance and growth has focused on identifying correlation or causality between these variables, with little attention given to the simultaneous relationship between them. This is still a clear gap in economic literature. Following this premise, the objective of this paper was to analyze the bidirectional relationship between financial development and growth by estimating a system of simultaneous equations using the Zellner and Theil’s (1962) 3SLS methodology. In this sense, the main contribution will be given empirically, based on data and analysis from emerging countries in Latin America and Asia. The fact that financial development has an influence on growth and growth plays a role on the development of the financial sector indicates a simultaneous relationship between these variables. Another relevant contribution is to update the debate on financial systems and economic development for emerging countries, highlighting institutional aspects and financial cycles. Theoretical / Methodological Contributions: The main contribution of this study is in the empirical strategy, whose results dialogue with part of the literature on the financial system and development presented along the text. The Polish-Russian border, closed since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, transformed into an iron curtain without any chance for its disappearance in a long-term perspective. The ongoing conflict between Russia and the EU started an experiment in the Polish zone bordering with Russia with respect to the planning of economic growth in the new reality – in a fully isolated area – where the border is a limitation and not an opportunity. According to the author's research, the crisis caused by the permanent closing of the Polish-Russian border and suspension of contacts with the Kaliningrad Oblast, which initially was a hard blow for the border communes, with a particularly difficult economic situation, may – in the long-term perspective – turn out to be an important driving force for changes. The primary purpose of this paper is to identify the main actions taken by the Polish local authorities at the border with Russia, the aim of which is revitalisation of the local economy after the Polish-Russian border was closed. This paper analyzed the convergence of economic growth and socioeconomic development in the Legal Amazon region. For this, the methodology of Convergence Means was used. To measure economic growth, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita and the Gross Value Added (VAB) per capita referring to the three sectors of the economy were used as variables. Regarding socioeconomic development, the Firjan Index of Municipal Development (IFDM) was used as variables for the dimensions: General, Health, Employment and Income and Education. The results showed that the variables related to economic growth, presented themselves as convergent and showed a great growth in the period. In relation to variables related to socioeconomic development, the level of convergence was significant, with exception of the variable employment and income, which proved to be divergent. This study seeks to address pertinent economic and environmental issues associated with natural gas flaring, especially for the world's leading natural gas flaring economies (i.e. Russia, Iraq, Iran, the United States, Algeria, Venezuela, and Nigeria). By applying relevant empirical panel and country-specific approaches, the study found that fuel energy export positively impacts economic growth with elasticity of ~ 0.22 to ~ 0.24 for the panel examination. It is further revealed that environmental quality in the panel is hampered by increase in economic growth, gas flaring, fuel energy export, and urbanization. Moreover, for the country-wise inference, government quality desirably moderates economic and environmental aspects of gas flaring in Venezuela and Nigeria, and in Russia and Iran respectively. However, government quality moderates gas flaring to cause economic downturn in the USA. Additionally, economic growth increased with increase in urbanisation (in Iraq and the USA), gas flaring (in Iran and the USA), government quality (only in the USA), and fuel energy export (only in Algeria) while economic growth downturn is due to increase urbanisation in Russia and the USA, increase in fuel energy export in the USA, and increase in government quality in Russia. Meanwhile, environmental quality is worsened through intense carbon dioxide emission from increased urbanisation activity (in Iraq, Iran, Algeria, and Nigeria), increased fuel energy export (in Nigeria), increased natural gas flaring (in Algeria and Nigeria), increased GDP (in Russia, Iran, USA, Algeria, and Venezuela), and high government quality (in Iran). Interestingly, the result revealed that increase in GDP (in Nigeria), increase in urbanisation (in the USA), and increase in gas flaring (in Algeria and Nigeria) dampens environmental quality. We use theory and empirics to distinguish between the impact of temperature on transition (temporary) and steady-state (permanent) growth in output per capita. Standard economic theory suggests that the long-run growth rate of output per capita is determined entirely by the growth rate of total factor productivity (TFP). We find evidence suggesting that the level of temperature affects the level of TFP, but not the growth rate of TFP. This implies that a change in temperature will have a temporary impact on growth in output per capita. To highlight the quantitative importance of distinguishing between permanent and temporary changes in economic growth, we use our empirical estimates and theoretical framework to project the impacts of future increases in temperature caused by climate change. This paper reviews the concept of the demographic dividend and the empirical evidence therefor. The demographic dividend is mainly the result of fertility decline (lower number of births, lower population growth) which translates into a population age structure with a larger work force (age 15–64) and a smaller proportion of children (age 0–14), together with initially few elderly persons (age 65+). In turn, this favors economic growth, but it also has many consequences for households and for state budgets, as well as long-term consequences for population size and the environment. The first part of this paper shows the small correlations at the national macro-economic level between dependency ratios and economic growth. The second part shows the strong correlations at the household level between levels of fertility, child mortality and modern education. The third part discusses the many other correlates of the demographic dividend. The often-cited and controversial focus of the demographic dividend on economic growth hides many other positive effects of fertility control on households, on state budgets, and, in the long-run, on societies and the environment. The ecological footprint (EF) has been used as an environmental indicator in most of the past research. Due to the complex linkages between economic growth and human development, EF has been inadequately understood in policy making. This research attempts to investigate the impacts of economic growth, human capital, biocapacity, and urbanization on the factors affecting the ecological footprint (EF) of five South Asian countries. To provide empirical evidence, this study utilizes the annual data from 1990 to 2022 for Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. The findings confirm the positive contribution of GDP, human capital, biocapacity, and urbanization to EF. Endogenous growth theory assumes that human capital is a prominent factor in regional economic growth. However, the imbalance of human capital between regions is still a major problem in economic growth in Indonesia. Previous studies on regional economic growth have recognized the importance of considering spatial aspects as a determinant of regional economic growth. The geographical area in the form of an archipelago with a large number of administrative districts and cities produces pros and cons regarding the influence of spatial aspects on the regional growth of urban districts. This study aims to analyze the distribution of human capital using the Alternative Human Development Index (AHDI) approach and the effect of human capital and spatial aspects on the regional economic growth of urban districts in Indonesia within the framework of endogenous growth theory. The research method uses geometric mean to measure the Alternative Human Development Index, Geographic Information System (GIS) to see the distribution of human capital and regional economic growth in Indonesia, and the spatial regression Spatial Autoregressive Moving Average (SARMA) used to analyze the spatial aspects of human capital and regional economic growth in Indonesia. The results show that human capital in Indonesia is still unequal between the western and eastern parts of Indonesia. Human capital and spatial factors have positive effects and are the most influential determinants of Indonesia's regional economic growth, as indicated by the value of the spatial lag weight matrix of the dependent variable (p) and the spatial error term (λ) that is positive. This paper advances understanding of multiplier-accelerator interaction in European countries in the 21st century. More than eight decades from the contributions of Keynes and Samuelson, multiplier-accelerator interaction has spawned rich and interesting literature. In this study, we examined the relationship between investment, consumption, and economic growth for European Economic Area (EEA) countries, with data observed between 2000 and 2021. We found evidence for both multiplier and accelerator effects. However, for most European economies, the multiplier effect is stronger than the accelerator effect, helping to explain the profile of economic cycles. These results present two emerging policy implications. First, investment made in Europe reacts to the rates of economic growth observed in recent periods. Investment dynamics have long been highlighted as promoters of economic growth and competitiveness. Economic agents use investments to improve their strategic position as agents of long-term socioeconomic development. Second, the estimated effects are not uniform over time; investments react in the same direction as the economic growth observed in the previous years. This nonlinearity of effects obliges all decision-makers to duly anticipate these reactions as well as obliges the academic community to further study the subject. The potential for the development of digital data and their infrastructure creates new opportunities for economic growth. The purpose of this study was to develop an approach to identify a set of indicators to quantify the data economy and model its impact on economic growth. The cumulative index and Gini coefficient indicated differentiation and disparity in the digital data infrastructure of 85 regions for 2016–2021. In the presence of a positive spatial correlation, digital development does not indicate clear spatial clubs. Selected according to the calculation of Lagrange multipliers and likelihood ratios, panel econometric models with spatial lags, using SAR, SEM and SAC, showed a short-term negative effect and a long-term positive effect of the digital data economy on economic growth, confirmed by the calculation of marginal effects. During the pandemic, the data economy had a positive impact on regional economic growth. The positive spatial effect of interactions between regions detected by the models in the framework of economic growth indicates the synergistic nature of digitalization. The main conclusions of this study provide evidence-based support for the digital transformation of regions and can help create information infrastructure and accumulate human capital to eliminate disparities in the digital development of regions. The study aims to investigate the impact of social, economic and political globalization on the renewable energy-economic growth nexus in a panel of six Asian emerging economies over the period 1975–2020. The results of the CS-ARDL approach show that renewable energy consumption contributes significantly to long run economic growth. Economic and political globalization firmly hold back economic growth, while social globalization directly promotes economic growth. The nonlinear effects of political, social, and economic globalization on economic growth clearly demonstrate the validity of the inverted U-shaped relationship between political globalization, economic globalization, and economic growth, and the U-shaped relationship between social globalization and economic growth. The study also found that economic, social and political globalization moderated the impact of renewable energy on boosting economic growth. Based on the renewable energy consumption model, it is revealed that economic growth significantly promotes long run renewable energy consumption. Economic, social, and political globalization have significantly boosted long run renewable energy consumption. However, the nonlinear effect model reflects a U-shaped relationship between globalization indicators and renewable energy consumption. The interaction of political, economic, and social globalization with economic growth has also witnessed an increase in renewable energy consumption, which supports the scale effect hypothesis. The causality test concludes that there is a two-way causal relationship between renewable energy consumption and economic growth, thus supporting the feedback hypothesis. The economic downturn caused by the financial crisis of 2008–2009 and the intensifying global climate policy trends forced changes in the energy management of the European Union. The study examined how the most relevant energy economic variables affected the economic growth of the E.U. between 2010–2019. The study used the PSL-PM methodology to explore the relationship between G.D.P. (dependent variable) and energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, the average energy price, and renewable energy use (independent variables). The main findings are: G.D.P. growth is negatively correlated with CO2 emissions, showing that the E.U. economy is still highly dependent on fossil fuels; the increase in the proportion of renewable energy consumption contributed to the growth of the E.U.'s G.D.P.; CO2 emissions, energy consumption, and the average energy price are more critical in E.U. member states with a lower G.D.P.; renewable energy use and energy balance are essential in countries where more emphasis is placed on replacing traditional energy sources and reducing energy dependence; there is a strong positive correlation between G.D.P. and renewable energy use, indicating that this type of energy use effectively supports E.U. economic growth. The results of the multicollinearity test show that there is also a strong linear dependence between the independent energy economic variables. One of the significances of the study is that the presented and analyzed variables and the relationships between them can contribute to optimizing the E.U.'s currently critical energy management and economic growth. The aim of this study is to explore the impact of economic growth (GDP), energy consumption, foreign direct investment, oil price, and exports on carbon emissions by employing yearly time series data for Italy for the period 1971–2019. For this purpose, we employed the autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model and wavelet coherence approach to analyze the interconnections among variables. The cointegration results confirm the long-run association between our variables. Our findings show that GDP has a positive impact on carbon emissions, while the square of GDP has a negative impact, thus confirming the presence of the EKC hypothesis. Further, oil prices have a detrimental impact on carbon emissions both in the long- and short-term; on the contrary, foreign direct investment, energy consumption, and exports promote environmental degradation. The digital economy may accelerate the upgrading of industrial structures and boost regional innovation output, effectively contributing to China's green economic transformation. The impact of the digital economy on developing the urban green economy is analyzed using data from 280 cities across China from 2010–2019. Using a fixed-effects model and the Spatial Durbin model, the digital economy is found to have a significant impact on urban green economy development. This result is shown to be robust to various factors. There is significant regional variability in the impact of the digital economy on green economic growth, with the strongest impact in the northeast, followed by the central and western regions. Meanwhile, non-resource-based cities and policy pilot cities have a more pronounced role in promoting the digital economy. The intermediate transmission chain of industrial structural upgrading and regional innovation output fosters the growth of the urban green economy via the digital economy. The "Jobless growth" of Pakistan's economy and its acquaintances with frequent changes in different governments in power (both democratic and military regime) and its influence on economic growth persuades to conduct a qualitative analysis of the structural transformation on the disaggregated level to determine whether or not it has any connection or impact on different sectors of the economy. The fundamental objective of this study is to (a) explore how sectoral transformation has affected economic development and employment, as well as their relationships, and (b investigate how these dynamics have impacted the generation of sustainable employment in the economy. For this reason, the study takes sectoral transformation into account. The study applies the sectoral employment Elasticity technique for this objective. The results of our evaluation indicate that the economy functions better under military regimes than it does during democratic periods. The cause might be anything, but our goal is to determine the employment elasticity of Pakistan's main political powers. As an agriculture-based economy, most of the population relies on the agriculture sector; hence, its decline highlights the need for reforms. AI technology is capturing the African imaginations as a gateway to progress and prosperity. There is a growing interest in AI by different actors across the continent including scientists, researchers, humanitarian and aid organizations, academic institutions, tech start-ups, and media organizations. Several African states are looking to adopt AI technology to capture economic growth and development opportunities. On the other hand, African researchers highlight the gap in regulatory frameworks and policies that govern the development of AI in the continent. They argue that this could lead to AI technology exacerbating problems of inequalities and injustice in the continent. However, most of the literature on AI ethics is biased toward Euro-American perspectives and lack the understanding of how AI development is apprehended in the Global South, and particularly Africa. Drawing on the case study of the first African Master's in Machine Intelligence program, this paper argues for looking beyond the question of ethics in AI and examining AI governance issues through the analytical lens of the raciality of computing and the political economy of technoscience to understand AI development in Africa. By doing so, this paper seeks a different theorization for AI ethics from the South that is based on lived experiences of those in the margins and avoids the framings of technological futures that simplistically pathologize or celebrate Africa. Rice‐animal co‐culture (RAC) systems are an integrated farming approach to mitigate the diverse challenges facing the food system. Studies of the production potential and ecological mechanisms of RAC systems have demonstrated natural advantages over traditional production systems. The quantification of the advantages and the potential promotion of RAC systems at regional and global scales, however, remains unclear. Writing in Earth's Future, Cui et al. (2023, https://doi.org/10.1029/2022EF002984) comprehensively assessed an ecological RAC system and identified the potential benefits of global promotion using a meta‐analysis. In this commentary, we contextualized Cui et al.'s (2023, https://doi.org/10.1029/2022EF002984) study and further theoretically clarified the connections of RAC systems to the various sustainable development goals (SDGs) and targets, with references to the officially released list of SDG indicators. Moreover, we discussed the limitation of the current studies and pointed out some potential directions for future research to understand the present and future roles of RAC systems in meeting the multiple SDGs. Triggering economic growth is a requirement to promote human welfare and realize sustainable development in many developing countries. However, place-based policies' impact on economic growth is debatable, and its underlying mechanism is unknown. China's Old Revolutionary Development Program (ORDP) is a large-scale and novel type of place-based policy targeted at undeveloped regions in China. We evaluate the effect of ORDP on economic growth by employing a time-varying difference-in-differences model and further explore the potential mechanisms and heterogeneity effects. VIIRS/DNB nightlight data is used to measure economic growth. We find that ORDP can significantly promote economic growth by 4.0% and the result is still robust after several tests. Mechanism analysis shows that ORDP can improve economic growth through government intervention, industrial structure optimization, and information infrastructure construction. Heterogeneity analysis indicates that the ORDP performs better on economic growth in central Chinese cities and high-economy cities. Background: To vigorously promote the integrated development and mutual adaptation of agriculture and logistics is an important way to realize agricultural modernization and rural revitalization. Along with the policy support of agricultural industry chain and the steady rise of the demand for agricultural products market, the total amount of agricultural product logistics continues to increase, and the growth rate remains stable. With the booming development of "Internet + agriculture" and e-commerce platform, agricultural logistic market welcomes a new round of development opportunities, reaching several trillion yuan. Compared with the developed countries, our agricultural product logistics is still far behind. At present, only 15% of vegetables and fruits and 30% of fresh meat have professional logistic transportation, while most of the rest are still in the state of local and primitive. The gap of logistic environment construction and logistic elements determines the difference in final benefit of agricultural products. The purpose of this study is to find out the influence of logistic elements on regional agricultural economic growth, and whether the influence between neighboring regions presents "the same prosperity", "the same loss" or "sharing weal and woe". Methods: Based on the panel data of the statistical yearbook of 31 provinces in China from 2005 to 2020, the spatial Durbin model was constructed under the spatial weight matrix of economic distance and economic geographical distance to conduct empirical analysis, and the internal factors of logistics industry, factor spillover effect and its impact on agricultural economic growth were studied. Results: Results showed that: (1) considering economic distance factor, the spatial coefficient of the time-fixed effects model passed the significance test in eastern China. Considering economic geographic distance factors, the individual and double fixed effect models passed the significance test in central China, and all models passed the significance test in western China. (2) From the perspective of logistic infrastructure, AVLFA, HM, TN and RM had a positive effect on the growth of agricultural economy in eastern China, but LIAV is on the contrary. AVLFA had a positive effect on agricultural economic growth, but TN was on the contrary in central China. In western China, LIAV and TN promoted agricultural economy while HM and RM held back it. From the perspective of the volume of logistics activity, both eastern and central regions did not pass the significance test, but FA was tested by the double fixed effect model and showed negative in western China. From the perspective of control variables, FU, AO and PT all promoted agricultural economy in eastern China, and FU and AO did the same in central and western China. PT was invalid in central regions and hindered agricultural economy in western China, which was different. Conclusion: From the perspective of spatial spillover effect decomposition, the eastern region presents "one prosperity and all prosperity, and sharing weal and woe", while the central and western regions present "one prosperity and all prosperity, and one lost and all lost". At last suggestions as formulating the overall plan for the development of regional logistics, paying attention to regional differences and promoting coordinated development of logistics and agriculture in light of local conditions, and paying attention to the spatial spillover effect of elements were put forward. Our study uses a small area estimation method to estimate the average and inequality of per capita kWh consumption for small areas in Vietnam. It shows evidence of a large spatial heterogeneity in the electric power consumption between districts and provinces in Vietnam. Households in the mountains and highlands consumed remarkably less electricity than those in the delta and coastal areas. Notably, we find a U-shaped relationship between the inequality of electricity consumption and economic levels in Vietnam. Background: Beet filter cake (BFC) is a by-product of sugar beet processing, which is difficult to dispose of and involves severe environmental concerns. Spirulina platensis is a microalga with a high protein content essential for human and animal nutrition. The present study aimed to utilize the beet filter cake extract (BFCE) to produce Spirulina platensis commercially. However, the cultivation of S. platensis on BFCE to produce economically single-cell protein has not been reported previously. Results: The batch experiment revealed the maximum dry weight at Zarrouk's medium (0.4 g/L) followed by 0.34 g/L in the treatment of 75% BFCE. The highest protein content was 50% in Zarrouk's medium, followed by 46.5% in 25% BFCE. However, adding a higher concentration of 100% BFCE led to a protein content of 31.1%. In the adaption experiment, S platensis showed an increase in dry cell weight and protein content from 25 to 75% BFCE (0.69 g/L to 1.12 g/L and 47.0% to 52.54%, respectively) with an insignificant variation compared to Zarrouk's medium (p ≤ 0.05), indicating that S. platensis can be economically produced when cultivated on 75% BFCE The predicated parameters from response surface methodology were NaNO3 (2.5 g/L), NaHCO3 (0.67 g/L), BFCE (33%) and pH = 8, which resulted in biomass yield and protein content (0.56 g/L and 52.5%, respectively) closer to that achieved using the standard Zarrouk's medium (0.6 g/L and 55.11%). Moreover, the total essential amino acid content was slightly higher in the optimized medium (38.73%) than SZM (36.98%). Conclusions: Therefore, BFCE supplemented medium could be used as a novel low-cost alternative growth medium for producing a single-cell protein with acceptable quantity and quality compared to the standard Zarrouk's medium. We construct a cohort-based frailty index from age-related health deficits to investigate physiological aging in India over the period 1990-2019. During this period, the Indian states underwent at different speeds the epidemiological transition and experienced unprecedented economic growth. We show that the rate of physiological aging remained remarkably stable to the changing environment. Age-related health deficits increased by about 3 percent per year of age with little variation across states, ages, cohorts, and over time. We find that, with advancing epidemiological transition, health deficits for given age declined at the individual level (within states and within cohorts). Across cohorts born between 1900 and 1995, we show that, for given age, health deficits are higher for later-born cohorts until birth years around 1940 and remained trendless afterwards. Economic activities are directly supported by the natural environment, and in this context, it has become crucial to analyse the phenomenon of decoupling economic growth from environmental degradation. The negative effects of economic activities on the environment are clearly visible, and understanding how to separate economic growth from environmental harm is of utmost importance. This paper aims to study the degree of the decoupling of economic growth, measured by GDP, from environmental degradation, quantified through CO2 and HFCs emissions, at the level of each EU27 country in the periods 2008–2012 and 2013–2020. In the analysis, graphical representations and statistical tests were utilised. In the first period, most of the EU27 countries registered negative levels for the variables considered, placing them into the negative coupling stage. In the second period, the evolution of the decoupling process was visible in all the countries, enabling them to make a significant transition to the relative or absolute stages. Overall, the Nordic countries could be observed as examples of best practices, managing to achieve the most desired stage of decoupling, i.e., the absolute one. These results are important for a wide range of stakeholders implicated in the preparation of programs, projects and policies dedicated to achieving economic growth in a sustainable manner. Background: Most individuals developing tuberculosis (TB) are working age adults living in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The resulting disability and death impact economic productivity and burden health systems. New TB vaccine products may reduce this burden. In this study, we estimated the impact of introducing novel TB vaccines on gross domestic product (GDP) growth in 105 LMICs. Methods and findings: We adapted an existing macroeconomic model to simulate country-level GDP trends between 2020 and 2080, comparing scenarios for introduction of hypothetical infant and adolescent/adult vaccines to a no-new-vaccine counterfactual. We parameterized each scenario using estimates of TB-related mortality, morbidity, and healthcare spending from linked epidemiological and costing models. We assumed vaccines would be introduced between 2028 and 2047 and estimated incremental changes in GDP within each country from introduction to 2080, in 2020 US dollars. We tested the robustness of results to alternative analytic specifications. Both vaccine scenarios produced greater cumulative GDP in the modeled countries over the study period, equivalent to $1.6 (95% uncertainty interval: $0.8, 3.0) trillion for the adolescent/adult vaccine and $0.2 ($0.1, 0.4) trillion for the infant vaccine. These GDP gains were substantially lagged relative to the time of vaccine introduction, particularly for the infant vaccine. GDP gains resulting from vaccine introduction were concentrated in countries with higher current TB incidence and earlier vaccine introduction. Results were sensitive to secular trends in GDP growth but relatively robust to other analytic assumptions. Uncertain projections of GDP could alter these projections and affect the conclusions drawn by this analysis. Conclusions: Under a range of assumptions, introducing novel TB vaccines would increase economic growth in LMICs. We investigated the contribution to economic growth emerging from Ghana's investment intodomestic agriculture. To this effect, time series data spanning 1965 to 2020 was used. For data analysis, stationarity was achieved using Augmented Dicky-Fuller and Phillips-Perron test; the ARDL bounds approach adopted for cointegration; finally, the Error Correction Model and Granger causality test were used for determining the long-run and short-run causal effects. From the results, in both long-run and short-run, the nation's domestic agricultural investment was not a positive contributor to economic growth. Positive contribution to economic growth was from investment in other sectors (industrial and service sectors) and trade openness index. Moreover, government expenditure index contributed negativelyto economic growth. In the short-run, unidirectional causality was from economic growth to government expenditure index, other sector investments to economic growth, and economic growth to trade openness index. In this study, we strongly advocate for considerable government domestic investment into the agricultural sector besides other sector investments, and further relaxing trade policies since it is the only surety to achieving the government's two-fold agenda of zero tolerance for hunger and poverty while simultaneously increasing agriculture's contribution to economic growth with partial dependence on donor funds. With the rapid urbanization and industrialization of the past few decades, environmental issues have become increasingly prominent, and air pollution in the form of PM2.5 has become a major concern in China. The Chinese government has recognized the severity of these environmental challenges and has placed great emphasis on protecting the environment while promoting economic growth. This study utilizes remote sensing technology to analyze the spatio-temporal evolution characteristics of the decoupling between land-use intensity and PM2.5 in the Yangtze River Economic Belt (YREB) using 2000–2021 series of PM2.5 and land-use-change data, with the Mean Center Change analysis and the Tapio Decoupling Model. This study attempts to analyze the causes of change from the perspectives of economic development stage and policy execution. The study found that the average PM2.5 level decreased by 11.77 μg/m3 during this period, with high levels concentrated in urban areas and low levels found in less developed regions. The central trajectory of the land-use intensity shifted southeast, indicating a consistent trend in urbanization and industrialization in that direction. Meanwhile, the average land-use intensity value increased by 0.19, with the highest values concentrated in urban areas. A total of 71.12% of the regions in the YREB exhibited strong negative decoupling or negative decoupling between land-use intensity and PM2.5 levels, suggesting rapid urbanization and industrialization with a decrease in PM2.5 levels. In this academic study, the specific correlation between economic growth and healthcare expenditures will be evaluated through the panel data analysis method, using the public healthcare expenditures data of 25 upper middle-income countries between the years 2000–2009. In the study, national general government expenditures per capita were used as a key indicator typically representing healthcare expenditures. The explanatory variables in the model are the gross fixed capital formation and the ratio of employment to population. As a result of the extended Hausman test, it was decided that the model was suitable for the two-way fixed effects model. In the fixed effects model, the Driscoll–Kraay estimator was used because of the deviation from the basic assumptions. According to the apparent results of the economic model, there is remarkably a certain relationship between public healthcare expenditures and economic growth. In other words, the results of the economic analysis support the view that investments in the health sector in upper middle-income countries lead to an increase in economic growth, primarily in its contribution to public health. In this direction, it is expected that the study will contribute to forthcoming studies in terms of emphasizing the importance of public investments in terms of actors and institutions in the health system. Understanding the relationship between output and unemployment (Okun's law) is important for policymakers, particularly during crises. One of the aspects of Okun's law that is commonly examined during crises is the structural stability and behavior of Okun's law over the business cycle. While this issue has been addressed empirically in developed countries, little is known about it in developing countries such as South Africa. Hence, this study examines the structural stability and behavior of Okun's law over the business cycle in South Africa. This study adopts both the difference and gap methods of formalizing Okun's law to implement its objectives. The recursive rolling window method was used to test the structural stability of Okun's law over time. The behavior of Okun's law over the business cycle is examined using the Markov-switching regression method. This study was conducted using the data from 1994Q1 to 2021Q1. The results of this study show that Okun's law varies over the business cycle because the response of unemployment to economic expansion is quite different from that of economic contraction. Okun's law holds during economic expansion but fails to hold during an economic recession. Evidence from this study also reveals that the coefficients of Okun's law vary over time. For instance, in the case of the difference method, Okun's coefficients range from 0.063 to 1.221 in absolute terms. For the gap method, especially when the H-P filtering method is applied, Okun's coefficients range from 0.509 to 9.412 in absolute terms. In summary, the findings from this study suggest that cyclical unemployment responds more significantly to cyclical output growth than the response of changes in unemployment to changes in output. In addition, this study proves that Okun's law is unstable over time in South Africa. These findings imply a high degree of variability between the labor and goods markets in the country. Hence, policies must be designed to harmonize the divergence between the two markets. This will require the implementation of macroeconomic policies such as fiscal and monetary policies. However, the harsh business environment in Nigeria has constrained learning and capability building in the Nigerian manufacturing sector. The present state of the manufacturing sector underscores the need for firm-level learning and strategic policy actions. This paper utilized data from the Enterprise Survey Panel covering the periods 2007, 2009, and 2014/2015 to investigate firm learning and productivity in the Nigerian manufacturing sector. Case study illustrations were also undertaken to further provide insights into the links between learning variables and the productivity of selected firms in the sector. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics; dynamic panel model (DPM) via ordinary least squares (OLS) and General Method of Moments (GMM) techniques. The results of the estimation show there is a positive and significant relationship between export participation lagged by one period (t-1) and the current firm performance. A one-period lag of the learning variables, namely: skills and training increased the productivity of firms. The case study illustrations revealed that major learning capabilities include customer feedback; through employees, staff training/seminars/workshops, and supplier feedback. The paper provides evidence to conjecture that the STI mode of learning, which involves formal research and development (R&D) in firms is not deep enough, and that domestic firms have less productivity relative to firms with some proportion of foreign ownership. Also, some of the constraints to learning and productivity are an unstable regulatory environment, poor infrastructure and high cost of doing business. The paper recommends both formal and informal modes/mechanisms of learning are important to ensure improved productivity of manufacturing firms in Nigeria Also, learning opportunities may differ within and across manufacturing subsectors. Industry regulators or agencies should organize to provide a forum for firms and relevant stakeholders to regularly interact on learning experiences to learn from each other and collaborate to address obstacles to productivity. Although genocide is commonly used today to describe the dramatic challenges indigenous peoples face worldwide, the significance of the Guarani-Kaiowa genocidal experience is not casual and cannot be merely sloganized. The indigenous genocide unfolding in the Brazilian State of Mato Grosso do Sul -"Kaiowcide"-is not just a case of hyperbolic violence or widespread murdering, but it is something qualitatively different from other serious crimes committed against marginalised communities. Kaiowcide is the reincarnation of old genocidal practices of agrarian capitalism employed to extend and unify the national territory. In other words, Kaiowcide has become a necessity of mainstream development, whilst the sanctity of regional economic growth and private rural property are excuses invoked to justify the genocidal trail. The phenomenon combines strategies and procedures based on the competition and opposition between groups of people who dispute the same land and the relatively scarce social opportunities of an agribusiness-based economy. Only the focus in recent years may have shifted from assimilation and confinement to abandonment and confrontation, yet the intent to destabilize and eliminate the original inhabitants of the land through the asphyxiation of their religion, identity, and, ultimately, geography seems to rage unabated. In that challenging context, creative adaptation and collective resistance have been the most crucial requisites for the Guarani-Kaiowa to survive through recurrent genocides, particularly Kaiowcide. The transition of the global economy to digital currencies is inevitable. Today's monetary methods of regulation do not provide a stable and inclusive economy, and central banks will be forced to move on to the implementation of the state digital currency in real practice, which will ultimately allow introducing total control over the use of customer assets and strict business regulation, especially in the field of the shadow economy and tax crimes. The main factors for the transition to digital currencies are technological progress, an increase in online transactions, independence from national currencies, and low commissions. The purpose of the article is to assess the potential for economic growth of digital currencies and FinTech innovation technologies in the context of growing government debts. The scientific novelty of the obtained results lies in the construction of a regression model of GDP growth dependence on inflation, government debt and the long-term interest rate. The regression analysis was conducted by building a linear multiple model for selected developed European countries based on statistical data from the European Central Bank, the European Commission, and other Internet resources. The equation of dependence of the GDP of European countries on the selected factors obtained as a result of regression modelling can be practically used to forecast future GDP indicators. The model showed that inflation growth has a negative impact on GDP growth and confirmed that further economic growth is possible with the introduction of digital currency, which will help to reduce the inflationary burden. The issuance of digital currency will be strictly controlled, which will contribute to the formation of an inclusive economy by attracting people who do not have bank accounts to business, and the shadow economy will be reduced. This will create opportunities for real economic growth. It is predicted that the introduction of digital currencies could lead to a faster, more convenient, cheaper and more private payment system, which is important for citizens and businesses. This study examines the impact of corruption on economic growth in Nigeria from 1986 to 2019. The study used the Johansen cointegration test and vector error correction tests for the data analysis. The study shows that increases in the level of corrupt practices significantly inhibit economic growth in Nigeria in the long run but are insignificant in the short run at the 5% level of significance. The study further reveals that there is a weak transmission effect of corruption on economic growth in Nigeria through household consumption, foreign direct investment, domestic investment, government spending, export and import of goods and services in Nigeria. The study recommends that in fighting corruption, Nigeria requires good and virtuous leaders who are honest with integrity, discipline and trustworthiness, the creation of employment, and the upgrading of Nigeria police among others and that the Nigerian government should advance the use of anti-corruption agencies such as the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission to properly investigate corrupt practices and to apportion appropriate sanctions, strengthen its institutions, and intensify efforts to create more agencies beside the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and Independent Corrupt Practices Commission to address cases of corrupt practices in the economy.
