This paper aims to investigate the effect of the gross domestic product growth rate on inflation in these four selected ASEAN countries. This study is worthy as there is a need to understand the variance of national inflation for these ASEAN countries, particularly when Singapore's inflation rate is the lowest among them. The Keynesian Theory and Static Panel Data analysis are put to the test in this empirical study. The investigation is carried out on yearly balanced panel data involving four ASEAN member countries. The secondary data is extracted from the World Bank database over a study period of sixty years from 1961 to 2020. The methodology is based on static panel data analysis involving both Fixed Effect and Random Effect models. The empirical results show that there is a negative significant relationship between economic growth and inflation within the four countries sampled. As such, the policy implication from this study may suggest that it is important for ASEAN-4 governments to continue beefing up their economic growth in order to curb inflationary pressure. In the global economy, the service sector plays a dynamic role, contributing to various facets of the economy. It is the largest contributor to the gross domestic product (GDP) of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member states, and its contribution to GDP in ASEAN countries is on the rise. Given the growing contribution of the sector in the ASEAN countries, this study explores the role of the growth of the services sector in their economies' economic growth. Using panel cointegration (long-run) tests and pooled mean group Autoregressive Distributed-lag (ARDL) model on yearly data from 1970 to 2017, the findings support both short- and long-run association between growth in the services sector and economic growth of the ASEAN economies. This cross-country analysis also provides insight into the impact of services-sector growth to per capita economic growth of each of the ASEAN countries. Sustaining economic growth while reducing dependence on fossil fuels remains a challenge for our world to fight against climate change and therefore finding a way to promote economic growth and increase renewable energy use is needed. This paper uses a 22-year panel dataset (1994–2015) of 9 countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations provided by the World Bank World Development Indicators to examine the impact of medium- and high-tech export on renewable energy use. We employ a fixed-effects regression model with the Driscoll–Kraay nonparametric covariance matrix estimator to account for sectoral and temporal dependence. We also control for inflation, employment, population growth, and gross domestic product per capita in our estimations. Our results demonstrate a U-shaped association between medium- and high-tech export and renewable energy consumption of these economies. The results propose that enhancing medium- and high-tech export could be a feasible solution for promoting renewable energy consumption. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
