The purpose of this study was to perform a qualitative and quantitative bibliometric analysis of the 100 most cited papers on herpes zoster.Materials and methods: Related literature were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection. Excel and VOSviewer software were applied to quantitatively analyze, and construct the bibliometric network charts.Results: The Top 100 most-cited papers published between 2000 and 2018 showed a fluctuating downward trend. The most studies were published in the year of 2000 (n = 12). The article entitled “A vaccine to prevent herpes zoster and postherpetic neuralgia in older adults” from Oxman MN, was the most-cited publication. The United States was the most contributing country, followed by the United Kingdom, and Italy. Finland occupied the highest citations per publication (CPP). The University of Colorado topped the list of institutions with the most publications with 18 articles and also had the most citations (average citations: 281.78 per article). Myron J Levin from the University of Colorado School of Medicine is the most published and most cited researcher overall, whereas Duke University’s John W Gnann tops the list in terms of average CPP.Conclusion: In terms of the quantity of T100 articles, researchers, and organizations, the US is the predominant country. The most T100 papers were published in the special journal Clinical Infectious Diseases. Background: The utilization of antibiotic adjuvants presents a promising strategy for addressing bacterial resistance. Recently, the development of antibiotic adjuvants has attracted considerable attention from researchers in academia and industry. This study aimed to identify the most influential publications on antibiotic adjuvants and elucidate the hotspots and research trends in this field.Method: Original articles and reviews related to antibiotic adjuvants were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection database. The top 100 highly cited publications were selected and the visual analyses of publication outputs, countries, institutions, authors, journals, and keywords were conducted using Excel, VOSviewer, or CtieSpace software tools.Results: The top 100 cited publications concerning antibiotic adjuvants spanned the years 1977–2020, with citation counts ranging from 174 to 2,735. These publications encompassed 49 original articles and 51 reviews. The journal “Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy” accounted for the highest number of publications (12%). The top 100 cited publications emanated from 39 countries, with the United States leading in production. Institutions in Canada and the United States exhibited the most substantial contributions to these highly cited publications. A total of 526 authors participated in these studies, with Robert E.W. Hancock, Laura J. V. Piddock, Xian-Zhi Li, Hiroshi Nikaido, and Olga Lomovskaya emerging as the most frequently nominated authors. The most common keywords included “E. coli”, “P. aeruginosa”, “S. aureus”, “in-vitro activity”, “antimicrobial peptide”, “efflux pump inhibitor” “efflux pump”, “MexAB-OprM” and “mechanism”. These keywords underscored the hotspots of bacterial resistance mechanisms and the development of novel antibiotic adjuvants.Conclusion: Through the bibliometric analysis, this study identified the top 100 highly cited publications on antibiotic adjuvants. Moreover, the findings offered a comprehensive understanding of the characteristics and frontiers in this field.

ObjectiveThe number of citations to a paper represents the weight of that work in a particular area of interest. Several highly cited papers are listed in the bibliometric analysis. This study aimed to identify and analyze the 100 most cited papers in insomnia research that might appeal to researchers and clinicians.MethodsWe reviewed the Web of Science (WOS) Core Collection database to identify articles from 1985 to 24 March 2022. The R bibliometric package was used to further analyze citation counts, authors, year of publication, source journal, geographical origin, subject, article type, and level of evidence. Word co-occurrence in 100 articles was visualized using VOS viewer software.ResultsA total of 44,654 manuscripts were searched on the Web of Science. Between 2001 and 2021, the top 100 influential manuscripts were published, with a total citation frequency of 38,463. The top countries and institutions contributing to the field were the U.S. and Duke University. Morin C.M. was the most productive author, ranking first in citations. Sleep had the highest number of manuscripts published in the top 100 (n = 31), followed by Sleep Medicine Reviews (n = 9). The most cited manuscript (Bastien et al., Sleep Medicine, 2001; 3,384 citations) reported clinical validation of the Insomnia Severity Index (ISI) as a brief screening indicator for insomnia and as an outcome indicator for treatment studies. Co-occurrence analyses suggest that psychiatric disorders combined with insomnia and cognitive behavioral therapy remain future research trends.ConclusionThis study provides a detailed list of the most cited articles on insomnia. The analysis provides researchers and clinicians with a detailed overview of the most cited papers on insomnia over the past two decades. Notably, COVID-19, anxiety, depression, CBT, and sleep microstructure are potential areas of focus for future research.

ObjectiveThis study aimed to analyze the top 100 most cited papers and research trends on endometrial carcinoma via bibliometric methods.MethodsOn the 1st of March 2022, the top 100 most cited papers regarding endometrial carcinoma published from 1971 to 2021 were identified through searching Web of Science Core Collection database and the following data: title, author, journal, publication year, country and institution were extracted. Microsoft Office Excel (2019) was used for descriptive statistical analysis. VOSviewer (1.6.18) was used to perform and visualize co-authorship analysis and co-occurrence analysis.ResultsThese 100 papers were cited a total of 45, 685 times, and the mean number of citations was 456.85 (range, 228 to 2487). Most papers were published between 1996 and 2000, and between 2006 and 2010. The Lancet published the largest number of papers (n=12), followed by Gynecologic Oncology (n=11). Most of the papers were from the United States (n=58), followed by Italy (n=8) and Netherlands (n=7). Duke University, Johns Hopkins University, University of California San Francisco and University of Southern California (all in United States) contributed the most papers (n=4, respectively). Nicoletta Colombo contributed the most papers (n=3) as the corresponding author. The co-occurrence keywords were classified into three clusters: cluster 1 (epidemiology study), cluster 2 (molecular biology study) and cluster 3 (clinical treatment study). Early research that was published prior to 2005 in this field was mainly focused on epidemiology and molecular biology; the mean publication year for keywords in cluster 3 was later than other clusters. The keywords “external-beam radiotherapy,” “uterine serous carcinoma,” and “intermediate-risk” showed relatively later mean publication year and lower mean frequency of occurrence.ConclusionsThis study provides medical researchers with bibliometric information relating to endometrial carcinoma. Our results show that the United States is a clear leader in this field. The clinical treatment of endometrial carcinoma has received increasing levels of attention over recent years and is likely to remain a major area of research in the future. Meanwhile, it is recommended to pay attention to potential research hotspots, such as external-beam radiotherapy, uterine serous carcinoma and intermediate-risk.

This study aims to highlight the current trends in the literature on sustainability by applying a bibliometric review of papers on sustainability published in Environment, Development and Sustainability. Bibliometric analysis is a quantitative approach to bibliographic materials that highlights the core theoretical and empirical research on a specific field. In addition, it allows the classification of previous studies. Previous bibliometric reviewers were limited to sustainability papers in specific industries, while this study considers all papers on sustainability to provide further insights on overall sustainability topics. The analysis was based on keyword cartography analysis, bibliometric authors' citation analysis, bibliometric papers' citation analysis, bibliometric references' co-citation analysis, journals' co-citation cartography, and qualitative content analysis. A total of 997 articles on sustainability were reviewed. Bibliometric analysis was performed using VOSviewer and content analysis was performed using WordStat. Six major clusters were identified: environmental sustainability, sustainable development, urban sustainability, ecological footprint, environment, and climate change. In addition, the results reveal that Environment, Development and Sustainability has increasingly experienced important growth in research papers and citations, reflecting its significant contribution to the sustainability research field. In addition, this study presents recommendations for future research opportunities in the field of sustainability. The findings of this study have implications for sustainability research, such as the assessment of environmental and social sustainability in multinational institutional contexts and across industries as well as the examination of the impact of environmental and social sustainability on different corporate aspects and decisions. This study is the only one to review the key topics on which papers published in Environment, Development and Sustainability are focused and can be largely used for sustainability practices. This study provides an overview of how the literature on sustainability has developed, as well as a summary of the most productive authors, along with countries, organizations, and journal sources. Based on the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) database, this study analyzed 798 top papers in the subject category of Water Resources from 2008 to 2018. The 798 top papers include 797 highly cited papers and 21 hot papers in the field. Distributions of document type, language of publication, scientific output, and publication of journals are reported in this article. Co-authorship network visualization of author, organizations and countries, co-occurrence network visualization of all keywords was visualized using VOS viewer software. Results showed that 798 papers, all written in English, were from 2,845 authors, 80 countries/territories and 1,107 organizations, listed in 49 journals in the field of water resources. Top 5 core journals with higher impact factor ranked as Water Research, Journal of Hydrology, Desalination, Catena and Advances in Water Resources. Top 5 countries and regions were USA, China, Australia, England and Germany. Top 5 organizations were Chinese Academy of Sciences, University of California System, Helmholtz Association, Delft University of Technology and Eth Zurich. Based on the analysis of network map of VOSviewer, there is cooperation for authors, organizations and countries or regions. The analysis of keywords showed that the research of water resource was separated 6 clusters. This study demonstrates that there are more top papers come from journals with the higher IF and higher rank in Category of Water Resources. Based on the Essential Science Indicators database, this study analyzed 1225 top papers of rice research from 2008 to 2018, which include 1219 highly cited papers and 24 hot papers in the field. VOSviewer software was used to visually analyze documents. Results showed that 5100 authors belonging to 1428 organizations from 84 countries/territories authored the papers in 277 core journals. There are 10 papers that have received more than 1000 citations. Top five core journals are Plant Cell, Plant Physiology, PNAS, Food Chemistry and Journal of Experimental Botany. Top 5 countries and regions were China, USA, Japan, England and Germany. Background: The Mediterranean Sea is a region characterized by high seismic activity, with at least 200 tsunami events recorded from the fourth century to the present twenty-first century. Numerous studies have been conducted to understand past tsunami events, earthquake–tsunami generation, tsunami recurrence periods, tsunami vulnerability zones, and tsunami hazard mitigation strategies. Therefore, gaining insights into future trends and opportunities in Mediterranean Sea tsunami research is crucial for significantly contributing to all relevant aspects. This study aims to assess such trends and opportunities through a scientometric analysis of publications indexed by Web of Science from 2000 to 2023. Results: Based on a selection of 329 publications, including research articles, review articles, book chapters, and conference papers, published between 2000 and 2023, Italy has the highest number of publications and citations in this field. The number of publications has increased significantly, especially after the 2004 Indian Ocean, 2011 Tohoku, and 2018 Palu tsunamis. According to the keyword analysis, the terms "tsunami", "earthquake", "hazard", "wave", "Mediterranean", "coast", and "tectonic" were the most frequently used in these publications. Research themes consist of four classifications: motor themes, such as seismic hazard; specific but well-developed themes, like tsunamiite; emerging or disappearing themes, for example, climate change; and general or basic themes, such as equations and megaturbidite. The number of publications related to the motor theme classification continued to grow throughout 2000–2023. Topics from 2011–2023 are more complex compared to 2000–2010, characterized by the emergence of new keywords such as evacuation planning, risk reduction, risk mitigation, building vulnerability, coastal vulnerability, climate change, probabilistic tsunami hazard assessment (PTVA-3 and PTVA-4). However, topics that were popular in the 2000–2010 period (e.g., paleotsunami deposits, earthquake, and tsunami propagation analysis) also increased in 2011–2023. Conclusions: Research topics with high centrality and density such as seismic hazard will continue to develop and prospect. Even though being perceived as a novel approach, multiple authors claim that the digital transition of all sectors in society started when information and communication technologies (ICT) started to be an integral part of our daily lives. The education sector currently represents one of the contexts where the use of ICT is more promising and allows to reach greater benefits, mostly due to the wide range of tools, applications, and management and methodological approaches that are associated with e-learning. With the above in mind, a bibliometric analysis of the e-learning adoption topic has been performed, aiming on delivering a detailed analysis of the status of the topic. This analysis was carried out by analyzing the scientific literature indexed in the Scopus database that addressed the multiple stages of the e-learning adoption process (i.e., acceptance, adoption, and use). The development of technology like mobile devices, computers, and other smart devices is developing rapidly, especially AR and VR technologies. This study describes a comparison among 100 cited papers in AR and VR studies. Research data covering the top one hundred cited publications for the last thirty years were obtained from the Scopus database. The article is most publication document type. Most of these top-cited papers were published in 2005 for VR and 2013 for AR. The journal Computer and Education is the primary source of the Elsevier, which governs the publication of the most influential AR-VR studies. Most research articles have multiple authors. Slater and Feiner are recognized as the most productive author. The United States dominates the production of highly cited AR-VR papers. This study analyzed 1,636 top papers in the subject category of meteorology and atmospheric sciences about eleven years from 2011 to 2021, which included 1,636 highly cited papers and 24 hot papers in the field belonged to 20 Web of Science categories and 14 research areas. All top papers, written in English, were from 13,878 authors, 2,913 organizations, and 124 countries or territories, and published in 72 journals in the field. The top five journals are the Nature Climate Change (15.9% of the studied paper), Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics (12.1%), Journal of Climate (7.0%), Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society (6.7%), and Journal of Geophysical Research Atmospheres (4.6%), each published more than 76 papers. Top five countries were the USA, England, PR China, Germany, and France. Furthermore, top five organizations of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Chinese Academy of Sciences, and University Colorado were popular based on contribution of articles more than 134 papers each. All keywords were separated into eight clusters for different research topic. Introduction: In recent years, graph neural network has been extensively applied to drug discovery research. Although researchers have made significant progress in this field, there is less research on bibliometrics. The purpose of this study is to conduct a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of graph neural network applications in drug discovery in order to identify current research hotspots and trends, as well as serve as a reference for future research. Methods: Publications from 2017 to 2023 about the application of graph neural network in drug discovery were collected from the Web of Science Core Collection. Bibliometrix, VOSviewer, and Citespace were mainly used for bibliometric studies. Results and Discussion: In this paper, a total of 652 papers from 48 countries/regions were included. Research interest in this field is continuously increasing. China and the United States have a significant advantage in terms of funding, the number of publications, and collaborations with other institutions and countries. Although some cooperation networks have been formed in this field, extensive worldwide cooperation still needs to be strengthened. The results of the keyword analysis clarified that graph neural network has primarily been applied to drugtarget interaction, drug repurposing, and drug-drug interaction, while graph convolutional neural network and its related optimization methods are currently the core algorithms in this field. Data availability and ethical supervision, balancing computing resources, and developing novel graph neural network models with better interpretability are the key technical issues currently faced. This paper analyzes the current state, hot spots, and trends of graph neural network applications in drug discovery through bibliometric approaches, as well as the current issues and challenges in this field. Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to indicate the current state of studies on Islamic finance and management through a bibliometric analysis of the only social science citation index (SSCI)-indexed journal in this field. Design/methodology/approach: The paper uses a bibliometric analysis, collecting data from the 319 papers published in the International Journal of Islamic and Middle Eastern Finance and Management (IMEFM) from 2008 to 2019. Moreover, VOSviewer software has been used to illustrate the citation analysis (including most cited papers, most cited authors and authors' affiliated institutions and countries) and the keyword map. Findings: The number of papers published in each issue of the IMEFM is found to have significantly increased owing to its unique situation being the only SSCI-indexed journal in this domain. The share of the empirical researches in total papers published annually has steadily risen, reaching 95% in 2019. In terms of case countries, although Malaysia is the most examined country in the papers, other countries such as Indonesia and Turkey are found to have been used as a case country by researchers recently. Islamic banking-related papers are the most prevalent studies, as expected, with mainly their performance being examined. Meanwhile, the number of papers about Islamic social financial institutions has notably grown in recent years. Finally, technology-based initiatives such as crowdfunding and cryptocurrencies are noted to have not yet been the subject of any paper. Originality/value: The main contribution of this study is its analysis of the only SSCI-indexed journal on Islamic finance and management using bibliometrics. Earthquake research has expanded over the past few decades. Also, over the past 30 years, earthquakes have become a major study because earthquakes occur every year in each region. The aims of this research is to analyze the top 100 cited articles in the earthquake field from 1991 to 2021. Research give an idea of citation, author, year, journal and country characteristics of these articles using literature review, bibliometric analysis and VOSViewer which the data from Scopus database. The research found that articles is most document type of top 100 cited papers which 2005 was the most published year for the article. The average number of citations per article was calculated as 727 citations per paper. The journal Nature is the primary source of the Nature Publishing Group, which governs the publication of the most influential earthquake studies. Kanamori is recognized as the most productive author who received the highest number of quotes and the most incredible link strength. The United States dominates the production of highly cited articles. The research areas in these papers are mainly emphasized on earthquake, states, geological, sciences, earth, and japan. Further research related to earthquakes can also be directed to the relevance of the tsunami. Background: Monkeypox (MPX) has made recurrence after decades as a neglected zoonotic disease. More nations have reported endemic monkeypox in the past decade than in the previous forty. The World Health Organization has warned that the world may face another significant challenge after dealing with COVID-19, a pandemic, and the Monkeypox outbreak. Early appraisal of monkeypox research and development allows researchers to anticipate solutions for large outbreaks. We conducted a bibliometric analysis of this study's top 100 cited papers to identify regional research patterns. Methods: Our method was to search the SCI-Expanded database on Web of Science (WOS) for the top 100 papers that were cited in MPX on this database. We examined relevant literature from different years, journals, countries/regions, institutions, authors, and keywords.In order to create knowledge maps, we used the programs VOSviewer, Citespace, Scimago Graphica and the bibliometric online analysis platform. After compiling the relevant literature in Excel, we could estimate the field's focus and trends. Results: A total of 47 journals from 36 countries and regions published the top 100 cited papers between 1999 and 2023. The majority of articles were published in EMERGING INFECTIOUS DISEASES, while the highest average number of citations per paper were found in the NEW ENGLAND JOURNAL OF MEDICINE. The UNITED STATES contributed the most publications, followed by ENGLAND and SWITZERLAND. As far as the total number of publications goes, the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention in the USA, the National Institute of Health in the USA, and the World Health Organization each contributed the most papers. The major categories are immunology, virology and infectious diseases. The top five keywords were infection, Congo, virus, smallpox, and transmission. The cluster analysis suggests MPX research will focus on safe and effective vaccines and epidemic prevention. Conclusion: By using bibliometric analysis, MPX researchers can quickly and visually identify their research focus and boundaries. Although studies suggest that antiviral medicine is the best treatment, creating an effective vaccine might lessen and avoid MPX pandemics in the long term. Our findings imply that safe and effective vaccines may be the focus and trends for future MPX research. International coordination for case monitoring and identification is essential to understand monkeypox disease's ever-changing epidemiology.

• A bibliometric approach to reviewing 121 bibliometric studies in finance. • Meta literature analysis that encompasses content as well as bibliometric analysis. • Identify literature clusters of bibliometric reviews in finance. • Propose potential research areas for review-based studies in finance. As bibliometric approaches are increasingly a focus of literature reviews across different business disciplines, we apply a bibliometric approach to a review of bibliometric studies in finance, assessing 121 bibliometric studies. We identify four literature clusters: studies focusing on assessments of literature in trending topics; analysis of papers that employ emerging econometric techniques; studies grouped around particular fundamental topics such as market dynamics, behavioral finance, and corporate governance; and studies focused on retrospective celebration of single well-known finance journals. We identify which countries, institutions, and scholars have been being particularly influential. Results suggest that the field of economics has been more comfortable publishing bibliometric studies than finance. Results also identify the mainstream finance journals that are particularly leading in publishing bibliometric studies, with results showing that these journals have particularly high-growing scholarly impact. Purpose: This paper aims to provide bibliometric data from previously published research in Islamic fund management. Several categories, such as the most influential authors, the keywords and themes of the previously published research, were analyzed. Also, this paper provides a rigorous background for Islamic mutual funds research by synthesizing and reviewing the content of the previously published research to identify the gaps and provide future research direction. Design/methodology/approach: Data were gathered from Scopus databases from the year 2007 until 2022. A total of 115 articles were found published over the period of 15 years. Three different software, namely, R-Studio, VOSviewer and Excel are used to analyze the data that depict, among others, the most impactful authors in the field, the top journals covering Islamic fund management research and the most cited document. Content analysis of the previously published research was also provided. Findings: Publication in Islamic funds started gaining attention in the year 2012 and after. Collaborative works on Islamic funds are not strong yet among the contributory nations, although the USA and Malaysia contributed the highest number of publications. This study also found that there was a lack of research collaboration among authors in this research field, and most of the articles published were concentrated on the performance measurements of Islamic funds. Research limitations/implications: Researchers might find the results of this paper useful, as they provide a comprehensive analysis of the previously published research in the field. Practical implications: While these findings gave an overview of the intellectual structure of the research field, they also have the potential to inspire scholars working on Islamic funds research to collaborate on new research projects. Managers can also use this research to further enhance the emergence of Islamic fund management. Originality/value: This is a comprehensive paper that examines previously published research in the field of Islamic fund management. To enhance employee collaboration and streamline operations, businesses are spending more money on digital solutions in the current environment of rapid technological advancement. Employees can operate efficiently remotely by utilizing online platforms for communication and cooperation, which improves job satisfaction and organizational performance. This paper proposes to present a retrospective analysis of publications on digital technology used in the context of performance improvement and satisfaction within organizations. In this sense, a bibliometric study is carried out based on the analysis of scientific works published in the Web of Science database. The searches were carried out using the keywords "digital technology", "performance", and "satisfaction". Querying the database revealed the existence of 1005 papers, collected data being analyzed with the help of Microsoft Excel and VOSviewer software. The collected and analyzed data highlighted the existence of several clusters of publications, authors or organizations that addressed the analyzed topic. This research also indicates clusters of keywords that suggest potential directions for future research and clearly identify the impact of digital technology on organizational performance and employee or customer satisfaction. Through this bibliometric study, the authors provide valuable information from which to start those who want to investigate the digital domains, organizational performance, or satisfaction in organizations. In the last decade, there has been a significant advancement in the area of regional anesthesia (RA). Continuous evaluation of research in any developing field using modern technologies and available software is critical to identify future trends, hot spots, and intellectual dynamics. The current study was designed to bibliometrically evaluate the global research in RA using VOSviewer, MS Excel, and CVS-Scopus bibliographic data (2012– 2021). Knowledge structure and intellectual dynamics were analyzed using clustering of keyword co-occurrence. Literature screening in the last decade found 6092 original articles (96.1%) and conference papers (3.9%). The top four countries producing articles were the United States (n = 30.57%), India (7.51), the United Kingdom (7.22%), and Canada (6.06%). A significant positive correlation was found in global publication productivity (R2 = 0.9161). The most productive organizations were Harvard University, the University of Toronto, and the Hospital for Special Surgery – New York. A tremendous collaboration was spotted nationally and internationally, especially in pediatric RA. This comprehensive study, which summarizes and evaluates 6902 original research materials on regional anesthesia, may serve as a resource for anesthesiologists, physicians, researchers, and students.
