An efficient surface enhanced Raman scattering(SERS)substrate was prepared by screen printing silver ink on drawing paper, white card paper and coordinate paper. The results showed that silver film/drawing paper represented the best SERS activity, followed by silver film/white card paper and silver film/coordinate paper. The minimum detection limits for crystal violet were 10-8, 10-7 and 10-7 mol·L-1, respectively. In addition, ten different positions were randomly selected on the same silver film/drawing paper surface, and the relative standard deviation values of the peak intensitiesat 913, 1 179 and 1 620 cm-1 were 13.2%, 12.5% and 10.6%, respectively, which indicated outstanding uniformity.

This paper revisits multiple-airport systems from a noise pollution perspective. It aims to investigate the contradictions between the (re)development of an older airport located close to the core city, despite the existence of newer airports on the one hand and noise pollution issues on the other hand. Case studies include Tokyo, Shanghai, Paris, Milan, Houston and Rome. Quantitative analysis shows that traffic patterns are more diverse than previous classifications. The qualitative analysis highlights the factors inherent in these patterns, which include passengers’ preference for shorter access/egress journeys; inconsistent public policies (older airport not closed, a lack of effective rules for distributing air traffic among airports, permissive land planning and relaxing operational restrictions); low-cost airlines’ network strategies; and high-speed rail/air service integration., info:eu-repo/semantics/published

The number of elderly people as a proportion of the world’s population is growing significantly. Special attention to the accessibility and mobility requirements of this group is needed. The contribution of this paper is a review of travel patterns, mode preferences, infrastructure solutions, accessibility indices, mode choice models and datasets as they relate to elderly mobility. Key findings highlight the role of residential location characteristics in shaping elderly travel patterns, helping to explain why research on elderly travel has largely relied on case studies to date. The review also summarizes a range of indices that have been developed to measure public transport and walking accessibility among the elderly, including distance and time-based methods. Future research should consider the dominance of private transport in facilitating elderly mobility and its implications for cities experiencing an aging population.

This paper introduces a microrobotic platform to make, manipulate and break individual paper fiber bonds. An individual paper fiber bond is the construction unit of a paper sheet and its properties affect the strength of the entire network of a paper sheet. In one hand, conventional laboratory tests on paper fiber bonds are mainly performed in a hand-sheet level. On the other hand, reported methods for paper fiber bond strength tests in individual bond level are either direct which are manual, laborious and have a low throughput or indirect which require data interpretation. The microrobotic platform presented in this paper performs direct and individual tests on paper fiber bonds. Making, manipulating and breaking individual paper fiber bonds are accomplished successfully demonstrating the first steps towards individual bond strength measurement.

This paper provides a short introductory overview of urban science. It defines urban science, details its practioners and their aims, sets out its relationship to urban informatics and urban studies, and explains its epistemology and the analysis of urban big data. It then summarizes criticism of urban science with respect to epistemology, instrumental rationality, data issues, and ethics. It is concluded that urban science research will continue to grow for the foreseeable future, providing a valuable means of making sense of cities, but that it is unlikely it will become a new paradigm, producing an integrative approach that replaces the diverse philosophical traditions within urban studies.

In our times, a growing interest of organizations, including also the public ones, in crowdsourcing, can be observed. It enables to acquire knowledge located in virtual communities. However, despite many benefits, crowdsourcing initiatives very often fail. Therefore, a need for their evaluation is recognized. Nonetheless, in the subject literature, a shortfall of criteria and methods of evaluating crowdsourcing may be observed. The existing proposals do not ensure a comprehensive picture of crowdsourcing, and they do not take into account its multidimensionality. The article is intended for a presentation of the ways of evaluating crowdsourcing and an original proposal of a list of indicators, which may be used for evaluating crowdsourcing in public organizations. The article presents the original proposal of activities, by which it is possible to assess the degree of implementation of the adopted tasks and determine the level of obtained crowdsourcing results. The conducted research allowed to recognize that it is possible to measure crowdsourcing results using quantitative and qualitative indicators. A prerequisite for selecting the appropriate means is first of all to indicate the purposes for which crowdsourcing should be used.

Appreciating the aesthetics of visual and verbal art in picture books, illustrated stories and movie adaptations is a crucial aspect of literacy in the arts, as traditional and new cultural narratives are created and re-created in a variety of artistic forms. This chapter discusses three well-known illustrated literary narratives and animated adaptations, showing how subtle variation in the visual art of different versions of ostensibly the same story can effect significant shifts in interpretive possibilities. The significance of developing aesthetic, interpretive literacies for cultural engagement with such stories, and implications for teaching and researching new forms of multimodal literacies in schooling are addressed.

The paper presents the results of a study on the effects of rail stations (and High-Speed Rail) at air- ports on the route and hubbing patterns of airlines. Background for the work is Action COST-318 (1), chaired by IVT. EU-liberalisation, fierce competition, cost-cutting, hubbing of major European airlines at their home base, increased airport catchment areas by existing (high-speed) rail access at most of the major European airports, leads to air traffic congestion, whereas a number of other (medium-sized) airports are under-utilised. In the future, saturation of demand and fading trust trough repeated and unpredictable delays in air transport could emerge. Moreover, most of the European airports cannot be extended due to encroaching urbanisation and noise and air pollution concerns. In this situation, the idea arises, at least where the catchment areas of several airports overlap, in par- ticular when airport (high-speed) rail access is provided, that users could shift to other, less crowded airports. This process has not been observed so far. The issue was therefore studied using expert interviews based on the "Delphi" method (statement of personal convictions in several rounds, after having read the arguments put forward by the other experts during the round before). The transport sector, especially in growing cities, faces challenges relating to the climate, local environment, congestion, funding and equality, and uncertainties over political leadership, self-driving vehicles, citizens‟ reactions, and how the system is understood. Despite ambitious goals and investments, problems escalate via motoring‟s self-supporting processes: more cars, more roads, longer journeys, urban sprawl, more cars ... . Neither technical streamlining nor investing in public transport and attractive urban environments can trump the process. This paper examines whether we can use the methods of the fourth industrial (r)evolution to transform the urban-transport system. Starting points are: the role of transport in creating accessibility; the sector‟s inherent logic and vast unused capacity, particularly in infrastructure; and the methods and business models of the rapidly expanding digital-platform monopolies. A feasible future is described, its basis a digital multimodal urban-transport platform for information and payment, founded on the sector‟s base services: room on the streets, roads, rails, car parks and public transport. The technology exists but institutional problems abound. Radical public-sector service innovations are required. The paper identifies opportunities and obstacles. International audience; This short paper accompanies an invited lecture on a historical survey of geometric computer vision problems. It presents some early works on image-based 3D modeling, multi-view geometry, and structurefrom- motion, from the last three centuries. Some of these are relatively well known to photogrammetrists and computer vision researchers whereas others seem to have been largely forgotten or overlooked. This paper gives a very brief summary of an ongoing historical study.

Some have objected to human enhancement on the grounds that it violates the autonomy of the enhanced. These objections, however, overlook the interesting possibility that autonomy itself could be enhanced. How, exactly, to enhance autonomy is a difficult problem due to the numerous and diverse accounts of autonomy in the literature. Existing accounts of autonomy enhancement rely on narrow and controversial conceptions of autonomy. However, we identify one feature of autonomy common to many mainstream accounts: reasoning ability. Autonomy can then be enhanced by improving people’s reasoning ability, in particular through cognitive enhancement; given how valuable autonomy is usually taken to be, this gives us extra reason to pursue such cognitive enhancements. Moreover, autonomy-based objections will be especially weak against such enhancements. As we will argue, those who are worried that enhancements will inhibit people’s autonomy should actually embrace those enhancements that will improve autonomy.

Compact radiating element would allow several antennas integration on the initial surface. Inthis paper, a new compact antenna is designed in order to obtain up to four antennas at the place ofone. The antenna gain and horizontal Half Power Beamwidth (HPBW) should be maintained. The sizereduction is obtained by dielectric embedding. In order to determine the dielectric characteristics inwhich the antenna must be immersed, a theoretical model is proposed in this paper. Simulations andmeasurements are provided to show the evolution of the antenna's performances in order to achievemanufacturer's specifications.

Convivial urban spaces are a process as well as a philosophy. They revolve around observing users in specific urban spaces to comprehend their various needs, especially their social needs. Designing urban spaces for people to promote social connections is the foundation of creating convivial urban spaces. This means that this form of urban space has been interpreted as a daily social activity and as social pleasure expressed in the physical and psychological context of people's urban space. To provide a convivial environment for all users, effective convivial urban spaces should fulfill certain important aspects. From this point of view, the paper aims to identify the main aspects of creating convivial urban spaces through their repletion in the different theories. Then, the paper will evaluate and arrange the importance of the different aspects that form convivial urban spaces from the users and experts (urban designer and architects) point of view to reach the main objective of the paper which is to create a prospected framework for the urban designer and architects to help them in future decisions in designing convivial urban spaces that fulfill users’ needs.

In this paper, a characteristic modal analysis and a design guide of a linearly polarized HMSIW U-slot antenna is proposed. The presented characteristic modal analysis of the antenna explains its multi-modal behavior in the centimeter frequency band. Further, in this paper there is a design guide of the antenna for several dielectric substrates. Exploitation of the design guide is demonstrated on the design of several antenna examples which are finally experimentally verified in a laboratory environment.

HIGHLIGHTS Leadership is collectively performed through social action. Relational leadership recognizes and promotes mutual influence. Leadership is practiced through interactions and meaning making. Experience and intuition influence leadership practice. Shared understandings enhance collective performance. Guided by the emerging literature on relational leadership this paper discusses how leadership is socially constructed in the context of a professional sporting organization. An in-depth exploratory case study with a championship winning professional team was conducted for the duration of the championship season. Data was collected through interviews with various members of the organization as well as through observations of training and game sessions. The findings highlight that leadership is practiced through interactions between individuals, informed by established and ongoing relationships. Specifically, leadership is found to be practiced through verbal interactions, non-verbal interactions, and social processes of meaning making. The outlined relational approach is concerned with the collective performance of leadership through social action, revealing insights that can inform leadership practice, development, and recruitment in professional sporting organizations. The paper concludes by suggesting potential directions for research on leadership in professional sport based on conceptualizing leadership as a relational phenomenon.

This is a study for applying Decentralized Finance (DeFi) operations in a real life Agricultural finance application focusing on how assets tokenization in general and crop insurance in particular may take advantage of fundraising, global capital markets, atomic swap operations over blockchain and finally peer-to-peer trading without intermediaries under standardized regulations and revolutionary custodial services. Descriptive statistical data presentations such as graphs and tables are used to do the analysis and evaluate the development of the sector. The paper is exploring the boundaries and the depth of Decentralized Finance while focusing on Asset Tokenization Application that are being deployed mainly in different agri-businesses starting with crop insurance and ending up with tokenizing the products over blockchain. In conclusion, asset tokenization as a representational digital asset for a traditional financial instrument is becoming an increasingly important part of modern finance and “blockchainization” of the real world. This paper addresses how agriculture sector as production sector can use asset tokenization in securing the crops by smart contracts and issuing digital tokens to fundraising for micro-insurance. Also, using blockchain to tokenize the crops for future contracts while in the same time boosting the efficiency of the agribusiness finance, crop insurance, trading in primary and secondary markets as well as exploring new markets without intermediaries, are aspects that are found in the present research.

The paper examines and analyses some of the clothes worn by the President of Ghana during the delivery of COVID-19 Updates to the citizenry of Ghana. The aim of this paper is to discover the communicative function of the clothes worn by the President of Ghana during his delivery of COVID-19 Updates symbolically adds value to his speech with regards to the state of the Pandemic in Ghana. Using Textual Analysis, focus group discussions and interviews, the study provides a deeper examination of the various meanings of the cloths worn by the president during various COVID-19 national speeches. The research concludes that, the cloths worn by President of Ghana, during the delivery of speech to update citizens on measures taken against the spread of the Corona Virus in Ghana, performed additional communicative function through cultural understandings and nonverbal cues to appeal to the reasoning of the citizens.

Intermodal and multimodal door-to-door journeys refer to the usage of various transport modes (air, rail, bus, road or maritime) by the traveler to complete a single journey. The main difference between these two approaches is that multimodal transport is executed under a single transport contract (a single ticket) between the passenger, on the one hand, and transport operators, on the other hand. The benefits of this type of service are reflected in the potential to save time and money. Such systems would make the transport sector greener and more sustainable, promote growth and reduce carbon emissions. The purpose of this paper is to define the concept of an air passenger multimodal transport system, identify factors and challenges that determine such a system’s development within Europe and to provide recommendations and directions for future research. The research carried out so far has indicated that market segmentation and transport system characteristics, as well as economic, social and political factors, have direct impacts on system development. This paper provides the basis for introducing single ticket, timetable synchronization and data sharing services, as well as the need to update the related regulations in order to move towards air passenger multimodality in both research and practice.

Transportation Asset Management (TAM) is a data-driven decision-making process to maintain and extend the serviceability of transportation assets throughout their lifecycle. TAM is an extensive data process that requires accurate and high-quality information for better decision-making. A significant challenge faced by state Departments of Transportation (DOTs) is the need to allocate their limited funds to optimize their assets’ performance. The criticality of this challenge increases when state DOTs need to manage a wide variety of assets distributed along with a vast network. To address this challenge, a new paradigm of digitizing the management of the built environment is emerging and is perceived to highly depend on the integration of several technologies namely on Digital Twins. Digital Twins, by definition, are the connection between the physical and the digital aspects of an asset, thus, aligning with the overarching objective of asset management of leveraging the use of the asset information (i.e., digital aspect of the asset) to improve the asset’s performance throughout its lifecycle (i.e., physical aspect of the asset). At the core of implementing Digital Twins is having the right data collected for use throughout the lifecycle of the asset. Thus, realizing the potentials of Digital Twins in supporting state DOTs to manage their transportation assets and the anticipated benefits, this paper investigated the current practices of state DOTs in digitizing the Data Collection for Roadside Asset Systems by developing and distributing a web-based survey. Five major Data Collection variables and seven Roadside Asset Systems were considered. Furthermore, this paper presents a case study from a leading DOT in digitizing the management of the built environment to further understand the requirements of implementing Digital Twins to support transportation asset data management.

Evaluating forecasts is essential in order to understand and improve forecasting and make forecasts useful to decision-makers. Much theoretical work has been done on the development of proper scoring rules and other scoring metrics that can help evaluate forecasts. In practice, however, conducting a forecast evaluation and comparison of different forecasters remains challenging. In this paper we introduce scoringutils, an R package that aims to greatly facilitate this process. It is especially geared towards comparing multiple forecasters, regardless of how forecasts were created, and visualising results. The package is able to handle missing forecasts and is the first R package to offer extensive support for forecasts represented through predictive quantiles, a format used by several collaborative ensemble forecasting efforts. We study the problem of making calibrated probabilistic forecasts for a binary sequence generated by an adversarial nature. Following the seminal paper of Foster and Vohra (1998), nature is often modeled as an adaptive adversary who sees all activity of the forecaster except the randomization that the forecaster may deploy. A number of papers have proposed randomized forecasting strategies that achieve an $\epsilon$-calibration error rate of $O(1/\sqrt{T})$, which we prove is tight in general. On the other hand, it is well known that it is not possible to be calibrated without randomization, or if nature also sees the forecaster's randomization; in both cases the calibration error could be $\Omega(1)$. Inspired by the equally seminal works on the "power of two choices" and imprecise probability theory, we study a small variant of the standard online calibration problem. The adversary gives the forecaster the option of making two nearby probabilistic forecasts, or equivalently an interval forecast of small width, and the endpoint closest to the revealed outcome is used to judge calibration. This power of two choices, or imprecise forecast, accords the forecaster with significant power -- we show that a faster $\epsilon$-calibration rate of $O(1/T)$ can be achieved even without deploying any randomization., Comment: 28 pages, published at Conference on Learning Theory (COLT) 2022

Research utilized the primary data through questionnaires, case studies and secondary data through government agencies like census bureau, information compiled for sale by commercial vendors, data published by universities, government, equity research, reports, trade association newsletter, etc. The research concluded sports have always been a unique game of business for players and investing organizations. However the research recommended the franchise business model used for the business is appropriate model for conducting business in the field of sports leagues.

The agglomeration of airports into multi-airport regions (MARs) has become one of the salient features of the worldwide air transport system in the last decades. Meanwhile, in China, the development of HSR is growing quickly, and is both competitive to and cooperative with the aviation network. To date some research has focused on the airport classification with aviation network properties within the specific MARs. However, little research comprehensively integrates complementary transport systems (such as civil aviation versus high-speed rail (HSR)) into the analytical framework for airport classification. The purpose of this paper is to identify the unique nature of component airports and their distribution in MARs in China from multiple perspectives by accounting for the influence of the HSR system. Airports are classified along multiple dimensions including competitive concentrations, the interaction between air transport and HSR, and airport community structure, among others. The results produce distinct partitions of the component airports in Chinese MARs, and provide insights into Chinese airport functionality and impacts of the HSR network on the distribution of different types of airports. The conclusions provide a more comprehensive assessment of airports’ spatial arrangement in the unique Chinese MAR context. Facial feature points identification plays an important role in many facial image applications, like face detection, face recognition, facial expression classification, etc. This paper describes the early stages of the research in the field of evolving a facial composite, primarily the main steps of face detection and facial features extraction. Technological issues are identified and possible strategies to solve some of the problems are proposed.

With the uncertainties that our societies are living with (the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change), it becomes essential to provide urban planners and decision-makers with state-of-the-art and user-friendly methodologies to incorporate ecosystem service considerations into their designs for resilient cities. In this regard, urban forests play a crucial role. The quantification of the ecosystem services is geo-specific and needs studies in different urban contexts. At this scope, we evaluated the urban forest of a neighborhood of a densely built-up Italian city (Perugia) with a low level of urban greenery management and with a tree inventory still in progress. Furthermore, we defined a tool helpful in tree-planting decisions and management. This paper involves citizens in field research for trees inventory. Then, it uses i-Tree Eco to evaluate four ecosystem services (carbon storage and sequestration, pollution removal, and runoff avoided) provided by 373 inventoried urban trees belonging to 57 species. Our results show that Italian Municipal tree inventories do not adequately represent their urban forest and that citizens’ participation provides a cost-effective method for integrating field data. Finally, the paper develops an easy tool helping local administrations enhance the ecosystem services provisions in urban green design.

The paper describes an approach for indirect data-based assessment and use of user preferences in an unobtrusive sensor-based coaching system with the aim of improving coaching effectiveness. The preference assessments are used to adapt the reasoning components of the coaching system in a way to better align with the preferences of its users. User preferences are learned based on data that describe user feedback as reported for different coaching messages that were received by the users. The preferences are not learned directly, but are assessed through a proxy—classifications or probabilities of positive feedback as assigned by a predictive machine learned model of user feedback. The motivation and aim of such an indirect approach is to allow for preference estimation without burdening the users with interactive preference elicitation processes. A brief description of the coaching setting is provided in the paper, before the approach for preference assessment is described and illustrated on a real-world example obtained during the testing of the coaching system with elderly users.

The stability and tracking controls of a dynamic ship system are studied in this paper, in order to stabilize and track the desired path of a catamaran ship system. The ship sails on a river that is prone to currents, wind, and unknown disturbances from the surrounding environment. Hence, the ship system potentially has stability problems. This paper presents a method for controlling the trajectory of a nonlinear ship system and controlling the ship stabilization. Three steps of the fundamental equations of constrained motion (FECM) with an uncertainty control are used to examine a control force to stabilize and track the ship system. The ship system is considered with six degrees of freedom to describe the stabilization of the ship’s rigid-body motion. The results show the efficiency of the control forces from the FECM, with an uncertainty controller applied to the ship system. They guarantee that the conditions of the ship system are satisfactory, and that the ship follows the desired path.

Dance sports is an emerging sport that can not only exercise the body but also please the mind and body. Under the theoretical guidance of “lifelong sports” and “health first,” in recent years, sports dance courses have not only been introduced in ordinary colleges and universities in China, but the overall quality development of students has been greatly improved, and the call for quality education for the whole people has also been answered. In recent years, the rapid development of mobile communication systems around the world has greatly enhanced the communication services of developed and developing countries to various places. This paper studies the current situation of sports dance based on mobile communication and links the century-old sports dance project with modern mobile communication to promote Chinese sports dance education and summarize more practical experience and methods with reference value. This paper introduces the development of mobile communication technology in detail, focusing on improving the user experience and service quality of sports dance, and introducing the mobile communication network into the geographic grid to solve the problem of the association between the data attributes of the base station and the geographic space. In addition, this paper systematically investigates the current situation of sports dance in A district and designs a targeted questionnaire. On the basis of the analysis of the current situation, corresponding countermeasures and measures are put forward, aiming to provide reference for the development of sports dance and make a modest contribution to promoting the widespread development of national fitness movements and promoting social harmony and civilization progress in the region. The results of the survey show that the residents’ sports dance programs have obvious age characteristics, and 77% of the students are 10-20 years old and over 50 years old. In the investigation of the main restrictive factors of sports dance development, sports dance coaches and students both put the restrictive factor of the teaching staff in the first place.

In order to improve the teaching effect of sports dance, this paper analyzes the traditional dance teaching motion capture, uses sensor motion perception algorithms to capture sports dance motion perception, and designs an intelligent sensor system that can be used for sports dance motion capture. Moreover, this paper combines the digital filter algorithm to design the hardware system structure of the sports dance motion capture system and builds a motion capture system for sports dance teaching based on the digital filter algorithm according to actual needs. In addition, this paper combines the simulation test to evaluate the performance of the system designed in this paper. The research results show that the motion capture system for sports dance teaching based on the digital filtering algorithm proposed in this paper can play an important role in sports dance teaching and effectively improve the efficiency of sports dance teaching.

Purpose: This paper is a proposal for improving ESL text comprehension by merging a multimodal perspective on language (Kress, 2005) with an integrated psychological (or ‘metacognitive’) approach to language learning and awareness (Fairclough, 1992, p. 1). Design: A multichannel approach is presented, based on two strategies: a main ‘multichannel’ strategy for reading the text, which focuses on the assessment of the visual, auditory, cognitive and kinaesthetic/emotional channels and relative functions, and a corollary one, specifically dedicated to implementing the cognitive function. Methodology/ Approach: The approach has been extensively applied in university-level English classes (Reggio Emilia, Parma, Bologna University) using a ‘multichannel test’ based on students’ feedback to explore the effectiveness of the method. In this paper, a case study is offered: data have been collected with specific reference to the University of Bologna, A. Y. 2017/18 and 2018/2019. Originality/Value: Evidence suggests that further and diversified applications promise an empowerment of the approach and of its impact on ELT as well as on students’ awareness and satisfaction.

Emotional expression is an essential and important link in human social activities and daily communication activities. Emotion recognition is a technology that uses computer technology to recognize the emotion of recognized objects. When emotion recognition technology was born, the research on human emotion recognition mainly focused on single-modal emotion recognition. Single-modal emotion recognition has been the most commonly used emotion recognition method. However, in recent years, with the continuous development of science and technology and the continuous improvement of people’s awareness of the defects of single-modal emotion recognition, the research on multimodal emotion recognition is increasingly emerging. This paper is aimed at analyzing and studying the multimodal emotion recognition algorithm in artificial intelligence information system. Based on this research topic, this paper designs a single-modal and multimodal emotion recognition comparison simulation experiment for the four emotional characteristics of happiness, sadness, shock, and anger extracted from artificial intelligence information systems. The experiment concluded that the comprehensive emotion recognition accuracy rate of the multimodal emotion recognition algorithm in the artificial intelligence information system reached 93%. Compared with single-mode emotion recognition, the comprehensive recognition accuracy is improved by 7%.

Environmental public interest litigation is a category of modern litigation that aims to protect the rights and welfares of the public environment. In China, environmental public interest litigation is a common mean to protect the environment and has a vital role in protecting the environment. This paper aims to study how to use the advantages of the artificial intelligence era to study the definition of environmental public interest litigation. This paper proposes how to define environmental public interest litigation and proposes a data mining classification algorithm based on the era of artificial intelligence to analyze the definition of public interest litigation. The experimental results of this paper show that with the promulgation and implementation of the new environmental protection law in 2016, the number of environmental public interest litigation cases nationwide has increased significantly compared with previous years. There are 43,589 environmental public interest litigation cases nationwide, and the difficulty of work is 38%. It can be seen that public interest litigation has become one of the judicial channels generally accepted by the public. It has become a powerful weapon for safeguarding the interests of the public environment. The use of the data mining classification algorithm based on the era of artificial intelligence can make the case definition of environmental public interest litigation easier, thus improving work efficiency.

Currently, long-distance freight transport is shifting towards multimodal transport, the combination of multiple freight transport modes. Multimodal transport enables enterprises with the same logistics function to operate on the same level of the supply chain. Through horizontal cooperation, these enterprises can give play to their advantages, make up their deficiencies, improve service levels, reduce cost input, and thereby enhance market status. Therefore, multimodal transport is an intensive development model that promotes the alliance between giants. The reasonable path design and planning (PDP) and investment and construction mode (ICM) of the multimodal transport network help freight demanders, as well as multimodal freight transport platforms, obtain the maximum profit. Therefore, this paper explores the PDP and ICM of the multimodal transport network based on big data analysis. Firstly, the influencing factors and behavioral features of multimodal transport were deeply examined, drawing on the logit model and the big data on multiple freight services, namely, railway transport, highway transport, waterway transport, and airway transport. After classifying the freights, the authors analyzed the modeling and decision-making of path design and optimization (PDO) for multimodal transport network. The proposed model was proved effective through experiments. This paper theoretically explores the goals, principles, and needs of path selection in the modern transportation industry. In a realistic sense, the research findings help decision-makers optimize their decisions on the multimodal transport network and operate the network at the minimum transport cost.

In order to better understand the current situation of Chinese public sports, this paper studies Chinese public sports. According to SATI3.2 statistics, 71 newsletters have published a total of 903 articles, of which 40 newsletters have one article, 19.7% of the newsletters have 2–9 books, and 17 magazines have more than 10 issues. The results show that by measuring data, we can better understand the current state of China’s public services. This paper uses the method of bibliometric analysis to sort out and summarize the policies, characteristics, hotspots, and trends of China’s public service field under the social network environment. The survey shows that the education sector has paid less for public entertainment in recent years. The research direction is system, equity, government procurement, interest, capital allocation, strategy, and supply chain. This paper highlights that the shortcomings of public sports research in our country: “public sports services” and “public sports services” are not integrated; there are many macrostudies on public service sports but few microstudies; there is no track and field research for special public groups. This paper puts forward research guidance for China’s public sports services and, at the same time, strengthens the research on public services of different products of rural sports development, strengthens the research on the intelligence of sports public services, and strengthens the research on the role of public sports. Governments at all levels support and strengthen research on public sports service standards, strengthen research on public sports performance measurement measures, and strengthen public sports balance research.

In order to explore the relationship between intelligent image recognition technology and the mentality and quality of life of the elderly, this paper combines intelligent image simulation technology to identify the behavior of the elderly, protect the safety of the elderly, and provide timely feedback on the adverse conditions of the elderly. Moreover, this paper improves the traditional intelligent image recognition algorithm, verifies the research method of this paper through experimental research, and puts forward corresponding suggestions. Through investigation and research, we can see that the level of health literacy of elderly patients with chronic diseases is low. Therefore, in the future health education, we should strengthen health education for elderly patients with chronic diseases, use different mass media to propagate health knowledge, and promote the formation of healthy lifestyles and behaviors for elderly patients with chronic diseases. At the same time, the experiment also verified that the intelligent image recognition technology proposed in this paper has a positive effect in improving the mentality and quality of life of the elderly.

Current urban agenda is interested in developing urban strategies to enhance urban resilience for cities. This paper examines the concept of urban resilience applied in the context of urban planning with specific attention to which are the capacities that make urban systems resilient. The knowledge and the understanding of these capacities are fundamental to set up suitable strategies. However, only few frameworks consider urban resilience and its capacity within the complexity of urban system. Through an in-depth literature review, this paper aims at providing a methodological framework both to recognize these capacities and analyze which are the main factors that mainly contribute to the achievement of these ability. The paper illustrates the first step of the application of a System Dynamics approach to analyze the redundancy capacity in order to define which are the key variables to enhance this capacity and also to determine which can be the impacts on the urban systems as a whole of the redundancy.

The provision of an enterprise with production stocks and their rational structure and efficient use determine the continuity of the production process at the enterprise, contribute to the manufacture of the required volume of products, and save money on working capital investment. Therefore, the analysis of availability and efficiency of production stocks is relevant at all stages of production. The study identifies the problems that arise in the course of stock management, which, in particular, include the following: the accurate calculation of cost per unit of products; the high-quality inspection of the actual condition of the stocks stored at warehouses; the selection of an optimal portfolio of contractual obligations for the supply of the stocks; and the selection of economically justified balances at the warehouse. This paper considers the organizational aspects of the analysis of stocks of economic entities and offers the improved flow chart for the organization of an analytical process of stocks that can be used in the stock management process at the enterprise. The model proposed in this paper can be described using the following stages: the forecast of future sales; the calculation of the required quantity of stocks to meet the needs of the forecast demand for manufactured products; the determination of the reserve stock amount and forecast of the volume of purchases of stocks in view of the above mentioned values; the compilation of an order portfolio and analysis of performance of the generated model. In order to improve stock management, the stock-need model is developed at the enterprise, which allows determining the basic need for raw and consumable materials required for the manufacture of a certain type of products to meet the sales needs.

Sports facilities are essential part of city and municipal infrastructure nowadays. This article presents an overview of approaches to evaluating the effectiveness of sports facilities as a tool for improving the quality of people’s life. Moreover, this paper presents mechanisms that can improve the effectiveness of a sports facility. The author provides information about the integral indicator of living standard and about urban environment quality index, which are calculated using information about sports facilities. The paper provides a comparative analysis of sports registries of different countries, which provide access to information about sports infrastructure for the population; the criteria necessary for improving the Russian registry are identified. Also, based on the analysis of data from the “Arena” competition, more effective criteria for evaluating the performance of sports facilities were formulated. Purpose: perform a review of approaches to evaluating the effectiveness of sports facilities as a tool for improving the quality of people’s life. Methodology: in this article method of analysis and synthesis, methods of description were used. Results: tools for improving the effectiveness of sports facilities as a factor affecting the standard of living of the region were identified. Practical implications: the results should be used by the Ministry of sport of the Russian Federation for developing requirements for sports facilities; employees of territorial planning services; services which develop measures to improve living standards.

Object and purpose of research. This paper investigates river-going passenger ship spaces to identify the effect of upgrades and conversions upon their distribution. Materials and methods. This study relied on Marine Engineering Bureau (MEB) database and the rules of classification societies, as well as on initial drawings of basic designs for river-going cruise ships. The study was performed as per common methods of ship theory, ship design and statistics. Main results. Distribution patterns of ship spaces were obtained for basic projects, upgrades, and retrofits of river-going cruise ships. Conclusion. This paper is a detailed analysis of ship space distribution for basic variants of river-going cruise ships, as well as for their upgraded and retrofitted versions. The main purpose of upgrades and retrofits for these ships is to make them more comfortable. However, post-upgrade / post-retrofit distribution of ship spaces becomes different than in basic designs. The findings of this study will simplify the initial stages of design, including those dealing with upgrades and retrofits of river-going cruise ships.

The emergence of e-commerce has rejuvenated backward and poor remote villages. This paper presents a revelatory case study of three remote villages in China to depict how information and communication technology (ICT, specifically e-commerce) can empower remote areas to thrive. With the concept of affordance as basis, this work identifies critical actors in the development of rural e-commerce (i.e., Taobao Village) and illustrates how they use ICT. Eight deterministic affordances of the same ICT used in the evolution of rural e-commerce are specified, and three evolution paths about how ICT empowers the formation and development of rural e-commerce are depicted. This paper also describes the challenges of the current development of rural e-commerce. The findings of the study are discussed, and suggestions on how to capitalize on ICT for rural e-commerce development are offered.

This paper is about embodied interaction with digital products and systems, and more specific, about its aesthetics. We establish a particular form of aesthetics: the aesthetics of coupling. We start with illustrating them by presenting two design research projects, the rich actions camera and the Experimental Payment Terminal. We discuss the characteristics of the aesthetics, and coin their corner stone concepts, the persistent and the temporal. After that, we present the design process of two conceptual products: a night lamp and a medication dispenser. Both projects demonstrate how to design for the aesthetics of coupling. In a reflection, we position the aesthetics of coupling among several existing perspectives on interaction aesthetics, and elaborate on their significance for the design community. We conclude this paper by highlighting the broad lines of our framework, and by indicating directions for future research.

Path sequence selection is important for multimodal transport processes. AND/OR graphs (AOG) have been applied to describe practical multimodal transport route planning problems by using ‘AND’ and ‘OR’ matrices. An AOG-based multimodal transport route planning problem is an NP-hard combinatorial optimization problem. Heuristic evolution methods can be adopted to handle it. While adjacency (AND) relationship issues can be addressed, contradiction (OR) relations are not well addressed by existing multimodal transport route planning methods. Thus, an ineffective result may be obtained in practice. The OR matrix is a conflict matrix that describes the choice of mode of transport in the process of multimodal transport. By using a contradiction matrix together with an adjacency matrix and tabu list, an approach used in existing work, this paper proposes an effective triple-phase generate route method (TPGR) to produce a feasible multimodal transport path sequence based on an AOG. This paper uses energy consumption to evaluate the multimodal transport energy efficiency. The information entropy is applied to describe the risks of the transport process. The energy consumption and the information entropy lead to a novel dual-objective optimization model where route energy consumption and route risk are minimized. An improved ant colony algorithm is developed to effectively generate a set of Pareto solutions for route selection, which are used for the dual-objective multimodal transport route optimization problem. This methodology is applied to practical multimodal transport route selection processes on two maps to verify its effectiveness and feasibility.

In order to contribute to the need of spontaneous multi-modal affective databases for the automatic recognition of emotions in older adults, this paper presents a novel Dutch multi-modal database consisting of emotional memories of older adults. The data consists of positive and negative memories of older adults eliciting through two emotion reliving tasks: autobiographical memory recall in the first session and life story books to discuss these memories in depth in the second session. Data collection was carried out at the participants' home or at a place comfortable to them. Audio was recorded for the first session whereas audio, video and physiological data were recorded for the second session. As this database introduces a novel way of using autobiographical memories to study emotional expressions in older adults, a first step of the complex coding of emotions is presented in this paper. We reflect on the challenges encountered in the database and propose ways to address these issues.

This paper presents results from a qualitative case study project into effective strategies for fostering parent-practitioner partnerships in secondary education in England. It discusses the nature of a true ‘community partnership’ as a dialogic and productive partnership as opposed to a more common ‘information sharing partnership’. In doing so, the paper demonstrates that effective partnerships engage parents, teachers, school staff, but also students to develop a ‘three-way-partnership’ (parentstudent-teacher), making the schools more welcoming places. Finally, the authors argue that schools should find out about and share the values that are important in their communities.
