Community structure detection in complex networks is important since it can help better understand the network topology and how the network works. However, there is still not a clear and widely-accepted definition of community structure, and in practice, different models may give very different results of communities, making it hard to explain the results. In this paper, different from the traditional methodologies, we design an enhanced semi-supervised learning framework for community detection, which can effectively incorporate the available prior information to guide the detection process and can make the results more explainable. By logical inference, the prior information is more fully utilized. The experiments on both the synthetic and the real-world networks confirm the effectiveness of the framework. This paper studies the structure of the Japanese production network, which includes one million firms and five million supplier-customer links. This study finds that this network forms a tightly-knit structure with a core giant strongly connected component (GSCC) surrounded by IN and OUT components constituting two half-shells of the GSCC, which we call awalnut structure because of its shape. The hierarchical structure of the communities is studied by the Infomap method, and most of the irreducible communities are found to be at the second level. The composition of some of the major communities, including overexpressions regarding their industrial or regional nature, and the connections that exist between the communities are studied in detail. The findings obtained here cause us to question the validity and accuracy of using the conventional input-output analysis, which is expected to be useful when firms in the same sectors are highly connected to each other. Comprehensive land-use planning is growing in popularity among U.S. state and local policymakers. This popularity is based on the belief that planning enhances community welfare; however, there is little empirical evidence in support of this belief based upon U.S. data. This paper uses unique data from the state of Florida to estimate the effect on house value of a local community's commitment to comprehensive planning. If planning enhances community welfare, this should be reflected in higher housing values. Considerable research has been done on the complex stock market, however, there is very little systematic work on the impact of crisis on global stock markets. For filling in these gaps, we propose a complex network method, which analyzes the effects of the 2008 global financial crisis on global main stock index from 2005 to 2010. Firstly, we construct three weighted networks. The physics-derived technique of minimum spanning tree is utilized to investigate the networks of three stages. Regional clustering is found in each network. Secondly, we construct three average threshold networks and find the small-world property in the network before and during the crisis. Finally, the dynamical change of the network community structure is deeply analyzed with different threshold. The result indicates that for large thresholds, the network before and after the crisis has a significant community structure. Though this analysis, it would be helpful to investors for making decisions regarding their portfolios or to regulators for monitoring the key nodes to ensure the overall stability of the global stock market. Three problems in community power analysis are addressed on the basis of research done in New Haven, Connecticut. The panel technique for identifying leaders is criticized, and a two-step process is substituted, in which extensive "leadership pools" are constructed and then pared down by studying issues and activities within specific policy areas. The "power structure" concept is reformulated so as to account for the incidence of specialized, non-repetitive leaders in community affairs. It was discovered that economic, status, and tower elites in New Haven overlap very slightly, although economic and status leaders were not wholly excluded from decision-making in the three areas studied. It is concluded that differences in theory and research procedure, not peculiarities in New Haven's social structure, seem likely to account for the wide divergence of these findings from those of other community studies.
