This paper investigated the factors in the technology–organization–environment (TOE) framework that affect the decision of whether to adopt electronic commerce (EC) or not within small‐ and medium‐sized enterprises (SMEs). To this end, a questionnaire‐based survey was conducted to collect data from 60 managers or owners of manufacturing SMEs in Tunisia. Unlike the traditional regression approaches, we referred to novel machine learning (ML) techniques and reveal that ML techniques reach a higher level of performance in forecasting driving factors to EC adoption compared to the traditional logistic regression approach. The achieved results also indicate that EC adoption within SMEs is significantly affected by eight factors, namely, IT vendors' support, the adopted technology complexity degree, chief executive officer (CEO) innovativeness, technology readiness, customers' pressure, firm size, infrastructure compatibility, and the innovative technology‐perceived relative advantage. In the past few years, drones have been adopted as a novel delivery tool towards medical supplies, improving delivery service efficiency due to fast speed and neglection of geographical limitations. However, the flight endurance of a battery‐operated drone is limited for long‐distance medical supplies delivery operations. Recharging stations, as a kind of drone facility, allow multiple stops for drones to supplement the power to overcome the flight‐range limitations. This paper studies drone‐assisted long‐distance medical supplies delivery with recharging stations in rural communities by a mixed integer linear programming model. To illustrate the applicability of this model and explore the key factors influencing delivery efficiency of medical supplies, a case study from China is conducted. The results indicate that enhancements on the speed of a truck or a drone can yield considerable delivery cost reduction. Background. In the rapidly evolving healthcare management landscape, technology integration and artificial intelligence utilization play pivotal roles in shaping employee productivity. This research investigates these dynamics within Riyadh Province, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, focusing on the relationships between technology integration, the use of artificial intelligence in nursing profession, nursing workforce competencies, technological leadership, and employee productivity. Methods. A quantitative approach was employed, involving 329 nurses from five hospitals in Riyadh Province. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling facilitated comprehensive analysis of direct and indirect relationships among variables. Results. Findings reveal that technology integration significantly enhances nursing productivity, while the use of artificial intelligence initially presents disruptions before yielding productivity gains. Nursing workforce competencies mediate these relationships, emphasizing the critical role of workforce readiness in harnessing technology's benefits. Surprisingly, technological leadership did not significantly moderate these effects. Conclusions. This research offers vital insights for healthcare organizations, advocating strategic technology integration and workforce development. It underscores the significance of nursing competencies in navigating technological transformations and affirms the enduring importance of leadership in guiding these changes. The auditory brainstem response (ABR) is a valuable clinical tool for objective hearing assessment, which is conventionally detected by averaging neural responses to thousands of short stimuli. Progressing beyond these unnatural stimuli, brainstem responses to continuous speech presented via earphones have been recently detected using linear temporal response functions (TRFs). Here, we extend earlier studies by measuring subcortical responses to continuous speech presented in the sound-field, and assess the amount of data needed to estimate brainstem TRFs. Electroencephalography (EEG) was recorded from 24 normal hearing participants while they listened to clicks and stories presented via earphones and loudspeakers. Subcortical TRFs were computed after accounting for non-linear processing in the auditory periphery by either stimulus rectification or an auditory nerve model. Our results demonstrated that subcortical responses to continuous speech could be reliably measured in the sound-field. TRFs estimated using auditory nerve models outperformed simple rectification, and 16 minutes of data was sufficient for the TRFs of all participants to show clear wave V peaks for both earphones and sound-field stimuli. Subcortical TRFs to continuous speech were highly consistent in both earphone and sound-field conditions, and with click ABRs. However, sound-field TRFs required slightly more data (16 minutes) to achieve clear wave V peaks compared to earphone TRFs (12 minutes), possibly due to effects of room acoustics. By investigating subcortical responses to sound-field speech stimuli, this study lays the groundwork for bringing objective hearing assessment closer to real-life conditions, which may lead to improved hearing evaluations and smart hearing technologies. For people with profound hearing loss, a cochlear implant (CI) is able to provide access to sounds that support speech perception. With current technology, most CI users obtain very good speech understanding in quiet listening environments. However, many CI users still struggle when listening to music. Efforts have been made to preprocess music for CI users and improve their music enjoyment. This work investigates potential modifications of instrumental music to make it more accessible for CI users. For this purpose, we used two datasets with varying complexity and containing individual tracks of instrumental music. The first dataset contained trios and it was newly created and synthesized for this study. The second dataset contained orchestral music with a large number of instruments. Bilateral CI users and normal hearing listeners were asked to remix the multitracks grouped into melody, bass, accompaniment, and percussion. Remixes could be performed in the amplitude, spatial, and spectral domains. Results showed that CI users preferred tracks being panned toward the right side, especially the percussion component. When CI users were grouped into frequent or occasional music listeners, significant differences in remixing preferences in all domains were observed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction. With the increasing accessibility of smartphones, their use has been considered in healthcare services. Mobile applications have played a pivotal role in providing health services during COVID-19. This study is aimed at identifying the features, advantages, and disadvantages of health management mobile applications during COVID-19. Methods. This systematic review was conducted in PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science using the related keywords up to November 2021. The original articles in English about the health management mobile applications in COVID-19 were selected. The study selection was done by two researchers independently according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data extraction was done using a data extraction form, and the results were summarized and reported in related tables and figures. Results. Finally, 12 articles were included based on the criteria. The benefits of mobile health applications for health management during COVID-19 were in four themes and 19 subthemes, and the most advantages of the application were in disease management and the possibility of recording information by users, digital tracking of calls, and data confidentiality. Furthermore, the disadvantages of them have been presented in two themes and 14 subthemes. The most common disadvantages are reduced adherence to daily symptom reports, personal interpretation of questions, and result bias. Conclusion. The study results showed that mobile applications have been effective in controlling the prevalence of COVID-19 by identifying virus-infested environments, identifying and monitoring infected people, controlling social distancing, and maintaining quarantine. It is suggested that usability, ethical and security considerations, protection of personal information, and privacy of users be considered in application design and development. Background. Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious illness that spreads widely over a short period of time and finally causes a pandemic. Unfortunately, the lack of radiologists, improper COVID-19 diagnosing procedures, and insufficient medical supplies have all played roles in these devastating losses of life. Deep learning (DL) could be used to detect and classify COVID-19 for potential image-based diagnosis. Materials and Methods. This paper proposes an improved deep convolutional neural network (IDConv-Net) to detect and classify COVID-19 using X-ray and computed tomography (CT) images. Before the training phase, preprocessing methods such as filtering, data normalization, classification variable encoding, and data augmentation were used in conjunction with the proposed IDConv-Net to increase the effectiveness of the detection and classification processes. To extract essential features, deep CNN is then employed. As a result, the suggested model can identify patterns and relationships crucial to the image classification task, resulting in more precise and useful diagnoses. Python and Keras (with TensorFlow as a backend) were used to carry out the experiment. Results. The proposed IDConv-Net was tested using chest X-rays and CT images collected from hospitals in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and online databases. After evaluating the model, the proposed IDConv-Net achieved an accuracy of 99.53% and 98.41% in training and testing for CT images and 97.49% and 96.99% in training and testing for X-ray images, respectively. Further, the area under the curve (AUC) value is 0.954 and 0.996 for X-ray and CT images, respectively, indicating the excellent performance of the proposed model. Conclusion. The findings of our proposed IDConv-Net model confirm that the model outperformed compared to existing COVID-19 detection and classification models. The IDConv-Net outperforms current state-of-the-art models by 2.25% for X-rays and 2.81% for CT images. Fiber-reinforced elastic laminated composites are extensively used in several domains owing to their high specific stiffness and strength and low specific density. Several studies were performed to ascertain the factors that affect the composite plates’ dynamic properties. This study aims to derive a mathematical model for the dynamic response of the processed composite material in the form of an annular circular shape made of polyester/E-glass composite. The mathematical model was developed based on modified classical annular circular plate theory under dynamic loading, and all its formulas were solved using MATLAB 2023. The mathematical model was also verified with real experimental work involving the vibration test of the fabricated composite plate. The composite plate was processed by reinforcing the polyester matrix with E-glass fibers with a 50% volume fraction each by using the handy lay-up method. After fabrication, the composite plate was tested with a universal vibration tester, where the plate was impacted and released to free vibration, and the deflection was measured experimentally to compare it with the theoretical value calculated from the derived model. The plate was tested under two boundary conditions, namely, simply and built-in supported. The findings show good agreement between theoretical and experimental plate deflections at different angles, particularly at built-in supported boundary conditions. Also, a higher natural frequency was recorded at this condition compared to others, and this may be ascribed to the higher shear stresses involved due to large moments at the ends along with supporting. Meanwhile, the real experimental spectrum of the built-in condition was higher than others, as the sig view curve revealed.

This study investigated the proximate composition and inhibitory potential of hot water and ethanolic extracts of the pulp, peel and whole fruit of green banana (Musa sapientum) on α-amylase and α-glucosidase. Bioactive compounds were identified using GC-MS analysis. In addition, the cytotoxic effect on human gingival fibroblast (hGF) was evaluated using the sulphorhodamine B (SRB) assay. The results showed that the peel of green banana had the highest amount of ash (10.05%), fat (2.83%), protein (3.64%) and total dietary fibre (36.62%). The carbohydrate content of the whole fruit (81.79%) and pulp (81.50%) was higher than that of the peel (71.90%). The moisture content of the pulp (13.08%) was higher than that of the peel (11.58%) and whole fruit (11.30%). The ethanolic green banana peel extract showed a good inhibitory effect of α-amylase and α-glucosidase with the concentration necessary for 50% inhibition (IC50) of 0.512 and 0.100 mg·mL−1, respectively. The α-glucosidase inhibitory effect of the ethanolic green banana peel extract and the hot water green banana peel extract was not significantly different from that of acarbose (IC50 0.108 mg·mL−1). GC-MS analysis of the ethanolic green banana peel extract revealed fatty acids and fatty acid ester (9-octadecenamide (Z), octadecanamide and other compounds). The ethanolic peel extract exhibits a significant noncytotoxicity effect on hGF cells at concentrations ranging from 0.0001 to 1.0 mg·mL−1.

Milk is an essential part of the human diet and is a nutrient-rich food that improves nutrition and food security. The aim of this study was to determine the presence and concentration of aflatoxin M1 (AFM1), adulterants, microbial loads, and physicochemical properties of raw cow’s milk (CM) in Nekemte City, Ethiopia. A total of 12 samples of fresh CM were purposefully collected from four kebeles in the city (Bake Jama, Burka Jato, Cheleleki, and Bakanisa Kese) based on the potential of each milk production and distributor site. The AFM1 concentration was determined by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with a Sigma-Aldrich standard (St. Louis, MO, USA). The concentrations of AFM1 in Bake Jama, Burka Jato, Cheleleki, and Bakanisa Kese were found to be 0.01–0.03 g/L, 0.31–0.35 g/L, 0.19–0.21 g/L, and 0.04–0.07 g/L, respectively. There is evidence that vaccine acceptability is strongly associated with mental health. However, no studies assessing intention to vaccinate (ITV) intention toward children of military parents have been documented. The current research aimed to establish the prevalence and factors of ITV children against COVID-19 in military parents in Lambayeque-Peru, 2021. Analysis was conducted with the dependent variable ITV children reported by military parents. The independent variables were history of mental health, searching for mental health support, food insecurity, resilience, anxiety, depression, burnout, posttraumatic stress, and suicidal risk. Prevalence ratios and 95% confidence intervals were estimated. Of 201 military personnel evaluated, 92.5% were male, 82.5% were of the Catholic faith, and the median age was 40.9% of respondents reported seeking mental health help during the COVID-19 pandemic. It was reported anxiety (20.3%), depression (6.5%), and posttraumatic stress disorder (6.5%). Most reported ITV in children against COVID-19 (93%). In the multiple models, we found that Catholics had a 23% higher prevalence of ITV in the children where PR = prevalence ratios and CI = confidence intervals (PR = 1.23; 95% CI: 1.01–1.50). Likewise, seeking mental health support increased the prevalence of ITV by 8% (PR = 1.08; 95% CI: 1.00–1.15). Seeking mental health support and belonging to the Catholic faith had a higher ITV of children of Peruvian military personnel. Finding mental health support, experiencing burnout syndrome, having a relative who suffers from mental health problems, and being part of the Catholic religion were associated with a higher willingness to immunize the children of Peruvian military members.

The exclusion of monolingual natives from cyberspace is a global socioeconomic and cultural problem. Efforts at addressing this problem have been socioeconomic, culminating in training, empowerment, and digital access with the indelible hurt of language inequities. This paper is aimed at the cyber-inclusion of monolingual natives. Since cyber participation is basically through human interaction with cyber-applications in a human language, encapsulating these applications for interaction in any human language will help evade the hurt of language inequities. Information retrieval system (IRS) remains a fundamental cyber-application. Consequently, adopting the design science research methodology, we introduced a lingual agnostic IRS architecture designed on the principle of transparency on user language detection, information translations, and caching. The detailed design of the architecture was done using the unified modeling language. The designed IRS architecture has been implemented using the agile and component-based software engineering approaches. The resultant lingual agnostic IRS (LAIRS) was evaluated using heuristics and system evaluation methods for parity of language of interaction against the default language and was excellently stable across queries and languages, guaranteeing 86% parity with the default language in the use of other languages for information access and retrieval. Furthermore, it has been shown that LAIRS is the most appropriate IRS to address the problem of language barriers to cyber-inclusion compared with existing IRSs.

Lake Hayq is one of the highland lakes of Ethiopia that furnishes very important ecosystem services, fishing, tourism, transportation, drinking water, livestock watering, and irrigation. However, the lake ecosystem is being degraded by pollution, siltation, and excessive growth of macrophytes, buffer zone degradation, overfishing, and climate variability. Therefore, this study was conducted to assess the physicochemical, heavy metals, and biological water quality parameters of Lake Hayq. Physiochemical (pH, water temperature, conductivity, TDS, total alkalinity, dissolved oxygen, Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, K+, NH4+, NH3, NO2−, NO3−, CO3−, HCO3−, SO42−, PO43−, SiO2, and total phosphorus), heavy metals (Pb, Fe, Zn, Cr, Cu2+, Mn2+, and Ni), and biological (BOD5 and total coliforms) water quality parameters were analyzed both in situ and ex situ. The physicochemical parameters were measured using portable water quality measuring multimeters, the heavy metal analysis was done using the Atomic Absorption Spectrometer, the BOD5 was measured using a BOD5 meter, and the total coliform analysis was done using the spread plate technique. The collected data were analyzed using multivariate, two-way ANOVA to see the mean difference among sampling sites and seasons through the application of SPSS 16. Most of the water quality parameters of Lake Hayq have met the WHO standards for recreation, aquatic life, and drinking water quality. However, some parameters, such as Pb, BOD5, and total coliforms, were above WHO water quality permissible limits. Therefore, ecohydrological (nature-based) waste treatment methods such as macrophyte restoration in buffer zones and ecofriendly farming activities should be practiced to minimize the contamination of the lake.

Background. Najaf governorate was recorded as one of the most polluted Iraqi governorates with increased cancer, autoimmune, and abortion cases. Study Groups. A total of 88 adult volunteers from three test groups were divided based on their inhabitance in different geographical regions in Najaf governorate. Group 1 (G1; n, 29) inhabitants of Al-Ansar, Al-Abbaseyeh, and Al-Manathera districts, Group 2 (G2; n, 27) inhabitants of 22 different scattered districts of the governorate, Group 3 (G3; n, 32) inhabitants of Kufa city and center districts in the old Najaf city. According to previous authors' findings, all participants had uranium contamination in their urine and blood samples, and also, they had DNA damage according to the level of urinary 8-OHdG compound. The control group 4 (G4; n, 25) were adult healthy Iraqi volunteers who were residents of the Sulaimaniyah governorate, which has low-level uranium pollution. The present study aims to determine the effect of uranium pollution and DNA damage on the immune system function in terms of estimating the levels of serum interleukin (IL)-6, interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), and IL-1 beta (β). Method. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) (Sandwich method technique) was used for estimating the serum cytokines levels in test and control groups. Results. A significant elevation of cytokines levels was reported as compared with the control groups (p≤0.01). The level of IL-6 was 764.64 ± 24.12 pg/ml, 768.87 ± 19.64 pg/ml, and 735.62 ± 18.47 in G1, G2, and G3, respectively. The level of IFN-γ was 264.55 ± 19.17 pg/ml, 259 ± 18.76 pg/ml, and 261.20 ± 12.99 pg/ml for G1, G2, and G3, respectively. The level of IL-1β was 99.85 ± 10.81 pg/ml, 116.8 ± 10.71 pg/ml, and 83 ± 19.24 pg/ml in G1, G2, and G3, respectively. The levels of IL-6, IFN-γ, and IL-1β were 86.5 ± 22.9 pg/ml, 19.4 ± 2.8 pg/ml, and 16.1 ± 3.2 pg/ml in the sera of control (G4). The results showed significant statistical elevation with the corresponding p value cut-off p≤0.01 in IL-6, IFN-γ, and IL-1β in the sera of three test groups as compared with the results of the control group. Conclusion. The change in the proinflammatory cytokines (IL-6, IFN-γ, and IL-1β) levels indicates a persistent inflammatory response in the participants and may reflect immune system impairment as a consequence of exposure to long-term low-dose ionizing radiation.

Utilities face serious obstacles from power theft, which calls for creative ways to maintain income and improve operational effectiveness. This study presents a novel hybrid genetic artificial hummingbird algorithm-support vector machine classifier to detect power theft. The proposed algorithm combines the artificial hummingbird algorithm exploration phase with the genetic algorithm’s mutation and crossover operators, to optimize the support vector machine’s hyperparameters and categorize users as fraudulent or nonfraudulent. It utilizes 7,270 rows of labeled historical electricity consumption data from the Liberia Electricity Corporation over 15 independent runs. The methodology entailed data preprocessing, data split into training, validation, and testing sets in an 80-10-10 ratio, z-score normalization, optimization, training, validation, testing, and computation of six evaluation metrics. Its performance is compared with 13 metaheuristic classifiers and the conventional support vector machine. Findings indicate that the genetic artificial hummingbird algorithm-support vector machine outperforms the 13 rivals and the standard support vector machine in the six assessment measures with an accuracy score of 0.9986, precision of 0.9971, f_score of 0.9986, recall of 1, Matthews correlation coefficient of 0.9972, and g_mean of 0.9987. Furthermore, 90% of the time, Wilcoxon rank-sum tests revealed statistically significant differences between the algorithm and its rivals, demonstrating its superiority. The average run time is 4,656 seconds, the 3rd highest among its competitors. Despite the time complexity trade-off, its excellent performance on the unimodal and multimodal benchmark test functions, placing joint best in 7 out of 7 and 5 out of 6, respectively, provides important insights into the model’s capacity to balance exploitation and exploration, improve local search, and avoid becoming stuck in the local optimum. These findings address important metaheuristic optimization gaps highlighting the model’s potential for power theft detection.

Traditional medicinal plants (TMPs) are a significant part of people’s quality of life, offering a natural substitute for modern drugs with numerous side effects. In Tanzania, data on antiasthmatic TMPs are highly fragmented. This review, a comprehensive compilation of ethnobotanical research evidence, aimed to provide a thorough understanding of TMPs used by the locals for asthma management and identify species that have already been investigated in preclinical studies. The review was conducted according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) statement. To gather relevant literature on antiasthmatic TMPs used by Tanzanians, a web search using electronic databases (Scopus, PubMed, ProQuest, Academic Library, Web of Science, SciFinder, Wiley Online Library, Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, and African Journals Online) was conducted. The scientific names were verified through the Plants of the World Online database, and the collected information was analysed for descriptive statistics using Microsoft Excel software. The ethnomedicinal information was obtained from 24 different articles. Microsoft Excel software was used to analyse the data using descriptive statistics. A total of 62 TMPs belonging to 33 families were identified. Species of the Fabaceae (14.5%) and Rubiaceae families (8.1%) are the most utilized. The analysis revealed that trees (42.0%) and leaves (40.0%) are the most utilized life forms and plant parts, respectively. Most plant materials (59.7%) used to make remedies were collected from the wild environment. Decoction (55.0%) is the dominant preparation method of remedies, and the majority (69.0%) were orally administered. Of the recorded TMPs, 22.6% had their in vivo antiasthmatic activity reported in the literature. The review also highlighted the strategic significance of preparations of remedies made from TMPs for discovering and developing new antiasthmatic drugs. However, the need to identify the molecular targets of action and toxicological aspects of the TMPs should be considered.

Process discovery approaches analyze the business data to automatically uncover structured information, known as a process model. The quality of a process model is measured using quality dimensions, completeness (replay fitness), preciseness, simplicity, and generalization. Traditional process discovery algorithms usually output a single process model. A single model may not accurately capture the observed behavior and overfit the training data. We have formed the process discovery problem in a multiobjective framework that yields several candidate solutions for the end user who can pick a suitable model based on the local environmental constraints (possibly varying). We consider the Binary Differential Evolution approach in a multiobjective framework for the task of process discovery. The proposed method employs dichotomous crossover/mutation operators. The parameters are tuned using grey relational analysis combined with the Taguchi approach. We have compared the proposed approach with the well-known single-objective algorithms and state-of-the-art multiobjective evolutionary algorithm—Nondominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm (NSGA-II). Additional comparison via computing a weighted average of the quality dimensions is also undertaken. Results show that the proposed algorithm is computationally efficient and produces diversified candidate solutions that score high on the fitness functions. It is shown that the process models generated by the proposed approach are superior to or at least as good as those generated by the state-of-the-art algorithms.

This research aims to create and evaluate an assessment tool termed Older Adults’ First Aid Knowledge Scale, which measures the knowledge and attitude of Iranian grandparents about first aid. In accordance with COSIM guidelines, 485 individuals in southern Iran completed the instrument as part of a psychometric investigation. Rasch partial credit model (PCM), exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis were used to analyze the results. The final version of OFAKS consisted of 18 items that were validated through EFA, CFA, and item response theory (IRT) analysis. All items showed measurement invariance and consecutive response groupings in the predictable order, and the instrument had strong internal consistency. Although Rasch’s analysis demonstrated the significance of OFAKS, further investigations and testing in different settings are required to confirm the validity of the tool.

The flavonoid compounds in C. caudatus K., known for their various benefits, are prone to quick degradation, leading to reduced biological activity. This research aimed to evaluate the types of coatings: gum Arabic (GA), maltodextrin (MD), and a combination of both (MDGA) in C. caudatus K. extract microcapsules. The extract of C. caudatus K. was encapsulated by different coating materials, GA, MD, and MDGA, and then dried using a freeze-drying technique. The evaluation was carried out by comparing the encapsulation efficiency values, biological activity, and release tests of each type of microcapsule coating. The research results indicate that coating agents have impacts significantly at p GA > MD coatings in alpha-amylase inhibition assay. Similar results were also shown in the antioxidant assay, which demonstrated that the three microcapsules had moderate antioxidant activities, again in the order of MDGA > GA > MD. The three different coating types showed greater release at pH 7.4 compared to those at pH 2.2 in the controlled release test, which ran from 30 to 120 min. In summary, freeze-drying microencapsulation using biodegradable polymers was identified as a viable method for harnessing the health benefits of C. caudatus K. extracts. This process produced a convenient powder form that could be used in drug delivery systems. The use of MDGA mixed coating resulted in better impact based on %EE value and biological activity, as well as improved characteristics of microcapsules compared with single coating.

Background. This study aims to evaluate the accuracy rate of foramen magnum dimensions in determining sex among the South Indian population using discriminant functional analysis. Methods. Phytotoxic compounds isolated and identified from different plants have the ability to use as plant-based herbicides. Phytotoxic chemicals may be essential to weed management and environmental protection in order to reduce the indiscriminate use of synthetic pesticides. It has been reported that Elaeocarpus floribundus plant possesses phytotoxic compounds. The leaf extracts of this species demonstrated significant growth inhibition against the tested plants (dicot plant lettuce and plant monocot timothy) and inhibition was dose- and species-dependent pattern. Two phytotoxic compounds were separated using different purifications methods and identified as compounds 1 and 2. All phytotoxic compounds displayed potent growth limitation against the tested species (cress). The compound concentrations needed for the inhibition of 50% growth (IC50 value) of tested species ranged from 1.06 to 8.53 µM (micromolar). Findings of this research suggest that these compounds might be responsible for the phytotoxicity of Elaeocarpus floribundus plant. The results of this study may be helpful for the development of natural herbicide to control weeds.

Floriculture is a new and rapidly expanding sector in Ethiopia that aids economic growth but has also come under blame for pollution of the surrounding soil. The purpose of this study was to assess the soil physicochemical properties and heavy metal contents in floriculture in the Amhara Region of Northwest Ethiopia. Soil samples were collected from seven different greenhouses (2ABC, 4DEF, 5ABC, 7DEF, 8ABC, 9DEF, and 11DEF), and a control soil sample was taken on the 15-cm depth from a nearby agricultural area. They were analyzed for soil physicochemical parameters and heavy metal compositions. Soil texture showed a significant difference between the soils sampled from the greenhouses and the control group. The highest average clay, silt, and sand contents were recorded in the control group, 4DEF, and 9DEF, respectively. The lower clay content was at 9 DEF, silt at 11 DEF, and sand in the control group. Clay was positively correlated to soil pH (r = 0.66) and TN (r = 0.38) but showed significant negative correlation with the sand fraction (r = −0.96). The average bulk density (BD) values of the soils from the greenhouses were within acceptable ranges; however, the mean BD value of 7DEF was relatively highest (1.34 g/cm3). Medicinal plants used for wound healing in Lubumbashi have yet to be discovered. Inventory or profile of their taxa has yet to be established. The present study was carried out to survey the plants used in traditional medicine in Lubumbashi to treat wounds and to define their ethnomedical characteristics. The study was conducted between March 2021 and August 2022, using semistructured interview surveys of households (n = 2730), herbalists (n = 48), and traditional practitioners: TPs (n = 128).The 2,906 interviewed (sex ratio M/F = 0.9; mean age: 56 ± 3 years; and experience: 17 ± 4 years) provided information on 166 taxa, 130 used against chronic wounds, among which Securidaca longepedunculata was the top cited. Most of these taxa are shrubs (33%), belonging to 48 botanical families dominated by the Fabaceae (16%). They are indicated in 70 other pathologies. From these 166 taxa, 198 healing recipes are obtained, 11 combining more than one plant. In all these recipes, the leaf (>36%) is the most used part, and the poultice (>36%) is the most popular form of use. Twelve taxa are cited for the first time as medicinal plants, of which Agelanthus zizyphifolius has the highest consensus and Erigeron sumatrensis has the highest usual value. For the various plants used to treat wounds, some of which are specific to the region, further studies should focus on validating this traditional use.

This present study aimed to investigate the phytochemical content and antioxidant and antidiabetic activities of Curculigo latifolia leaves (CL) and C. latifolia roots (CR) found in Brunei Darussalam. Phytochemical screening showed that CL and CR extracts contain saponins, tannins, glycosides, and terpenoids. CR showed higher total phenolic content (TPC), but lower total flavonoid content (TFC) when compared to CL. The high TPC in CR contributed to its potent radical scavenging activity (RSA) against 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radicals and strong ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP). Additionally, CR exerted significant inhibition of ∝-glucosidase and ∝-amylase, suggesting a potential link between the chemical compounds and its antioxidant and antidiabetic effects. In the animal study of antihyperglycemic activity, treatment with 250 mg/kg body weight (b.w.) of the CL extract normalised the blood glucose levels and improved body weight gain of alloxan-induced diabetic rats within 14 weeks. Furthermore, our investigation into the wound-healing effects of young C. latifolia leaves (YCL) and matured C. latifolia leaves (MCL) showed a significant reduction in wound size on Day 3, 5, and 7 of the experimental study, indicating its wound-healing potential. Based on our findings, C. latifolia can be consumed as part of a balanced diet due to its antioxidant and antidiabetic properties.

Digital technology is expected to improve care and address significant service pressures within the National Health Service and social care though evidence on how their implementation might be optimised is lacking. This study explores how one such example, home-based sensors with artificial intelligence capabilities, was implemented in English social care to identify changes in behaviour that indicate the onset of potentially more serious issues. Its focus was staff perspectives on decision-making processes and implementation, to inform recommendations for others exploring the potential of new and emerging technology. Qualitative data were collected from 18 semistructured interviews conducted across three sites delivering social care, with senior decision makers, operational leads, and care staff. We identified several issues with the selection process and implementation of AI-based technology in social care, including a lack of consensus around what success would look like, problems identifying and evaluating alternatives, and technical challenges to implementation, as well as obstacles to developing a longer-term, more preventative approach in a system experienced as focused on responding to acute needs. Ultimately, the research confirmed a number of recognised implementation challenges associated with training, resource, and acceptability to staff and patients. It added particular insights around the anxieties experienced by frontline staff and the cultural shift required of preventative interventions in a system geared to meeting acute crises. Background. The prominence of technology in modern life cannot be understated. However, for some people, these innovations or their related plausible advancements can be associated with perceptual misinterpretation and/or incorporation into delusional concepts. Objective. This paper aims to explore the intersection of technological advancement and experiencing psychosis. We present a discussion about the explanation seeking that incorporates the concept, that for some people, of technological innovation becoming intertwined with delusional symptoms over the past 100 years. Methods. A longitudinal review of the literature was conducted to synthesize and draw these concepts together, mapping them to a timeline that aligns computing science and healthcare expertise and presents the significant technological changes of the modern era charted against mental health milestones and reports of technology-related delusions. Results. It is possible for technology to be incorporated into the content of delusions with evidence supporting a link between the rate of technological change, the content of delusions, and the use of technology as a way of seeking an explanation. Moreover, analysis suggests a need to better understand how innovations may impact the mental health of people at risk of psychosis and other mental health conditions. Conclusions. Clinical experts and lived experience experts need to be informed about and collaborate with future research and development of technology, specifically artificial intelligence and machine learning, early in the development cycle. This concurs with other artificial intelligence research recommendations calling for design attention to the development and implementation of technological innovation applied in a mental health context. Studies on the diversity and relative abundance of birds are crucial for improving wetland bird conservation in Ethiopia. The current study aimed at investigating the diversity and relative abundance of avian species in the wetland area around Lake Abaya’s northwest tip in southern Ethiopia due to the lack of previous studies that were conducted in the area. A line transect method was applied to determine the avian species in the area. A total of eight line transects were established along the banks. Using encounter rates, which provide crude ordinal scales of abundance, the relative abundance of avian species was calculated. In the intended habitat, Shannon-Wiener diversity indices (H′) were employed to analyze the diversity of avian species. During the study period, a total of 34 bird species belonging to 18 families and 12 orders were recorded. Ardeidae and Threskiornithidae were the two most dominant families. In this study, 13 bird species were frequent, four were common, four were rare, one was uncommon, and 10 had abundant records. The highest species diversity (H′ = 3.40), species evenness (0.093), and Margalef’s richness index (N = 30) were recorded during the months of June, July, and May, respectively. The lowest species diversity (H′ = 3.13), evenness (0.088), and Margalef’s richness index (N = 23) were all recorded during the month of February. The present findings will provide relevant information to the concerned bodies and policymakers to take appropriate conservation measures for wetland birds.

The current study sought to establish the attitude and knowledge level of medical science students in Tibah University towards hepatitis B and C. A cross-sectional study involving 369 students drawn from the faculties of medicine, dentistry, applied medical sciences, pharmacy, nursing, and medical rehabilitation sciences was conducted where a standardised questionnaire was used to determine the attitude and knowledge level of undergraduate students drawn from the college of medicine in Tibah University, Saudi Arabia, regarding viral infections. With a mean of 0.71, 0.69, and 0.66 and a standard deviation (SD) of 0.24, 0.34, and 0.24 for virology and transmission, symptoms and clinical outcomes, and treatment and prevention, respectively, the knowledge level of the health professions students towards hepatitis B and C infections was significant. The knowledge level about the infections was higher among male students than among female students. Similarly, students in their final years of medical school had significantly higher knowledge levels about hepatitis B and C than their counterparts in their first years of medical school. There was also a positive correlation between the attitude of the health professions students towards the disease and their knowledge levels of the disease. Findings indicate that enhanced instruction on the nature, virology, transmission, symptoms, treatment, clinical outcomes, and prevention of hepatitis B and C can help improve the knowledge levels and attitude of the health professions students towards the disease and its management.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the antibacterial activities of selected medicinal plant practices by a traditional healer of the Newar community in Itum Bahal, Kathmandu, Nepal. The antibacterial activities of the methanolic extract (1 mg/disc) of fifteen medicinal plants were screened against two Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 and Bacillus subtilis ATCC 6633) and two Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 and Salmonella typhi CCM 5445) using the disc diffusion method. Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) were calculated for the different fractions (hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate, acetonitrile, and acetone) of the plants having a significant antimicrobial effect. Only Quercus infectoria G. Olivier (galls) and Mallotus repandus (Willd.) Müll.Arg. (seeds) exhibited prominent antibacterial effects. The acetone fraction from Q. infectoria had the strongest antibacterial effect, with a 41.00 mm inhibition zone against S. aureus. In contrast, the ethyl acetate fraction in M. repandus exhibited the highest efficacy, producing a 29.00 mm inhibition zone against S. typhi. In a similar manner, in the case of Q. infectoria, the acetoe fraction depicted the lowest MIC (0.19 mg/mL) and MBC (0.98 mg/mL) values against S. aureus, whereas the ethyl acetate fraction of M. repandus was most significant, showing the lowest MIC and MBC of 0.25 and 0.53 mg/mL, respectively, against S. typhi. This study suggested that the acetone extract of Q. infectoria galls can be used as a potential source against Gram-positive bacteria, whereas the ethyl acetate extract of M. repandus seeds could serve as a useful source to inhibit Gram-negative bacteria. Furthermore, extensive scientific investigation is mandatory to ensure the proper use of folk medicines.

Stock theft is a major threat to livestock production in Africa and has been on the rise in recent years. Zimbabwe is no exception. The purpose of this study was to analyze factors that contribute to stock theft in rural areas. The study used a mixed research design. The study was limited to wards 20 and 24 of Gwanda district of Matabeleland South Province. The linear regression model was used to analyze the factors that affected stock theft in rural areas. The majority (57.1%) of the interviewed household heads were males and aged below 50 years (55.8%) with an average household size of 5 members. On average, each household owned 5 cattle, 2 sheep, 17 goats, 4 donkeys, and 5 chicken. The participants kept livestock mainly for income generation, source of school fees, draught power, meat, milk, manure, and eggs. The major causes of livestock loss apart from stock theft were drought, disease outbreaks, trapped in mine holes, and predators. All the respondents practiced livestock identification which includes branding, ear notching, and the use of ear tags. The most vulnerable livestock species to stock theft were goats, cattle, donkeys, sheep, and chicken. Stock theft mostly takes place before midday and on Mondays and Wednesdays. It is at its peak levels in January and November. Goats and donkeys were the main stolen livestock species. The stolen livestock is mostly sold to meat processors. The distance from the border, the use of livestock identification tags, the total number of livestock units owned by the household, and the day of the week were significant in influencing the intensity of stock theft (p0.05) because rural households do not use livestock for their nutritional benefit, particularly goats, sheep, and cattle. Thus, if dietary diversity is taken as a proxy for food security, it can be concluded that stock theft does not significantly affect the household’s food security status. Working in groups through neighborhood watch committees, livestock branding, tending livestock which reduces the time that the livestock roam freely unattended, and assisting the police with investigations whenever there is a case of stock theft were identified as important mitigation strategies. At the service provider level, it was suggested that the law enforcing needed to increase its efficiency to mitigate stock theft.

Antibiotic resistance has been among the top public health threats elsewhere. Scientific information on knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) at the community level towards antibiotic use and disposal ways is a vital step for effective intervention. This study aimed at determining the levels of KAP and associated risk factors for antibiotics in and around Hawassa City, southern Ethiopia. A community-based cross-sectional study was conducted, and data were collected using a structured questionnaire. Descriptive statistics, chi-square test, and logistic regression were used to analyze and interpret the results. A total of 504 participants with a mean age of 35.32 ± 9.03 years were included in the study. Most of the participants were urban dwellers (59.5%); more than half (55.6%) of the participants were male; most of the participants (62.7%) were at least college graduates; about half were employed (52.4%); about 41.7% of the participants had a large family size (≥7) with a mean family size of 5.7 ± 2.7; the average family monthly income was ETB 7213.71 ± 3673, and over three-fourth (74.8%) of the study participants were married. In addition, about 83.13% of the study participants heard about antibiotics; almost all of them (99.8%) had ever used antibiotics at some point in their life (75% of which used antibiotics within 6 months), and all of them could name at least one common type of antibiotic. Moreover, most of the participants (86.5%) did not receive any training related to antibiotics, and 29.4% of them obtained antibiotics without a prescription. Most participants had poor knowledge (64%), negative attitudes (60.4%), and poor practices (55%) towards antibiotic use, resistance, and disposal methods. The Janus face metaphor approach highlights that a technology may simultaneously have two opposite faces or properties with unforeseen paradoxes within human‐technology interaction. Suboptimal acceptance and clinical outcomes are sometimes seen in adolescents who use diabetes‐related technologies. A traditional linear techno‐determinist model of technology use would ascribe these unintended outcomes to suboptimal technology, suboptimal patient behavior, or suboptimal outcome measures. This paradigm has demonstratively not been successful at universally improving clinical outcomes over the last two decades. Alternatively, the Janus face metaphor moves away from a linear techno‐determinist model and focuses on the dynamic interaction of the human condition and technology. Specifically, it can be used to understand variance in adoption or successful use of diabetes‐related technology and to retrospectively understand suboptimal outcomes. The Janus face metaphor also allows for a prospective exploration of potential impacts of diabetes‐related technology by patients, families, and their doctors so as to anticipate and minimize potential subsequent tensions. Summary: Hydrogen compression is a major contributor to capital costs and maintenance hours in the infrastructure related to storage, distribution and end‐use of hydrogen. Conventionally used mechanical hydrogen compressors have a number of disadvantages including a complicated design, insufficient reliability, high operating costs, a probability of hydrogen leakage and hydrogen contamination. A promising alternative is a thermally driven metal hydride hydrogen compressor (MHHC) whose operation is based on the reversible interaction of hydride‐forming alloys with hydrogen gas. MHHCs have a number of advantages including practically unlimited (up to several kbars) discharge pressure, good scalability (from several normal litres to tens normal cubic metres of hydrogen per an hour), modular design, simplicity in service and operation, as well as high purity of the delivered hydrogen and a possibility to use low‐grade heat. MHHC does not contain moving parts that simplifies its design, increases reliability, and eliminates noise and vibration. This article overviews applied R&D activities related to the thermally driven hydrogen compression using metal hydrides. The focus is put on the interrelation between properties of metal hydride materials and their hydrogen compression performances, first of all, operating pressure ‐ temperature range, process productivity, and efficiency. Typical design features of the hydrogen compression systems and ways of their optimization are considered. A brief techno‐economic analysis of the MHHCs benchmarked against alternative hydrogen compression technologies (mechanical and electrochemical) is presented as well. Although government subsidies provide some financial support for firms to invest in low-carbon technologies, carbon price fluctuations bring greater uncertainty risks to firms' investment. The paper constructs a real option model to analyze the timing of low-carbon technology adoption between upstream dominant high energy consuming firms and downstream retailers in case of collaborative decision-making and Stackelberg game, and a numerical simulation is conducted to analyze factors affecting the timing for low-carbon investment. We find that the proportion of cost subsidies, carbon price volatility, carbon emission reduction rate, and cost-sharing ratio will affect firms to choose the optimal investment opportunity. Background: Clinical leadership is the process of improving different organizational and patient care processes that achieve high‐quality and safety of care outcomes. Clinical leadership is about having the appropriate skills and attributes to manage clinical settings. Nurses need to develop managerial and leadership skills; thus, nurses clinical leadership skills should be developed in all clinical settings. The clinical leadership needs of nurses received limited focus; the concept is still not fully understood. Aim: This study aimed to assess the correlates and predictors of nurses' clinical leadership needs in Jordan. Materials and Methods: Using a cross‐sectional research design utilizing a purposive sample of 349 nurses were recruited from different hospitals. Pearson correlation coefficients standard multiple linear regressions were mainly used to analyze the data. Results: The "leadership and clinical practice" was the highest mean score of the subscales, while the "financial and service management" was the lowest. At an alpha of 0.05, significant positive moderate correlations were found between nurses' clinical leadership needs and: level of education, age, years of experience in nursing, years of experience in leadership, number of employees under the direct supervision of the leader, and type of the hospitals. At an alpha of 0.01, significant positive weak correlations were found between nurses' clinical leadership needs and: marital status, title, and unit/ward organizational structure. Marital status‐separated/divorced/widowed, and years of nursing‐4 years or less predicted negatively affect nurses' clinical leadership needs. Discussion and Conclusion: Meeting the clinical leadership needs of nurses will positively contribute to various clinical settings outcomes. Purpose: The aims of this study are to clarify the concept of how data retrieved from electronic health records (EHR) are transformed into nurses' tacit knowledge for evidence‐based practice from a cognitive perspective at a macro‐organizational level, and to identify this concept's attributes, antecedents, and consequences in the nursing field. Source: A literature review was conducted by performing a search on scientific databases using the key terms "data," "transform," "EHR," "nursing," "tacit knowledge," "organization," "data," "interpretation," and "healthcare." Forty‐nine articles and four books were selected for the analysis. The process was audited by two independent experts to ensure neutrality and credibility. Conclusion: Data transforming is a complex cognitive process among different groups of data stakeholders at a macro‐organizational level. The concept of data transforming has three attributes: analytical, respectful, and social. The antecedents of these attributes are skillful, immersive, and mission‐driven. They have either positive or negative consequences for frontline nurses. Aims: This study aimed to identify recommendations for quality nursing care provision, focusing on the possibilities of delivering telehealth nursing at the national level in the Czech Republic. Background: The significant growth in the use of technology in health care has changed the environment for patient care and how health care is provided. The COVID‐19 pandemic has shown the requirement for telemedicine use in everyday clinical practice. Evaluation: A literature review aims to find guidelines, recommendations, manuals, standards or consensus papers published in 2017–2022. Key Issues: In total, 12 guidelines were identified. Based on a critical evaluation carried out by two experts, the World Health Organization guideline focused on digital interventions to strengthen the health system has been identified. This guideline was evaluated to be of the highest quality and in line with the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluations methodology. Conclusion: The provision of telemedicine nursing interventions is currently limited at the national level and is not entirely accepted in reimbursement yet. The interprofessional collaboration will be initiated to make recommendations for specific patient groups. Implications for Nursing Management: Selected guidelines can be recommended for national adoption to set up and support nursing interventions in telemedicine, including nursing management settings. Objective: To investigate the academic use of artificial intelligence (AI) in nursing. Background: A bibliometric analysis combined with the VOSviewer software quantification method has been utilized for a literature analysis. In recent years, this approach has attracted the interest of scholars in various research fields. Thus far, there is no publication using bibliometric analysis combined with the VOSviewer software to analyse the applications of AI in nursing. Method: A bibliometric analysis methodology was used to search for relevant articles published between 1984 and March 2022. Six databases, Embase, Scopus, PubMed, CINAHL, WoS and MEDLINE, were included to identify relevant studies, and data such as the year of publication, journals, country, institutional source, field and keywords were analysed. Results: Most relevant articles were published from institutions in the United States. The League of European Research Universities has published most research studies that use AI and nursing. Scholars have mainly focused on nursing, medical informatics, computer science AI, healthcare sciences services and physics particles fields. Commonly used keywords were machine learning, care, AI, natural language processing, prediction and nurse. Conclusion: Research articles were mainly published in Nurse Education Today. Research topics such as AI‐assisted medical recording and medical decision making were also identified. According to this study, AI in nursing has the potential to attract more attention from researchers and nursing managers. Additional high‐quality research beyond the scope of medical education, as well as on cross‐domain collaboration, is warranted to explore the acceptability and effective implementation of AI technologies. Implications for Nursing Management: This study provides scholars and nursing managers with structured information regarding the use of AI in nursing based on scientific and technological developments across different fields and institutions. Aims: To describe machine learning applications in an operating room setting, raise awareness of the lack of nursing inclusion on machine learning algorithm development, and show how operating room nurses can co‐create this new technology. Background: Operating room nurses and managers perform anticipatory work on a daily basis to manage intrinsic and extrinsic factors that can cause surgical delays. Evaluation: Recent literature on machine learning and its potential use in operating room settings was reviewed along with literature on the role of the nurse in co‐creating novel technology. Key Issue: Machine learning technology is rapidly evolving and being created for the operating room environment to improve patient safety and flow. Operating room nurses and managers are not being included in the development of machine learning algorithms, meaning products may be created that are not usable for all members of the surgical team. Conclusion: This commentary highlights the ways machine learning effectively assists nurses and nursing managers, suggesting a pathway forward for surgical nursing as co‐creators and implementers. Implication for Nursing Management: Nursing managers will be exposed to machine learning programmes in the near future and need to understand the benefits they have for patient safety and patient flow. Aim: To explore current research on the ethics of smart home technologies including artificial intelligence and information technologies for elderly care by conducting a scoping review. Background: The development of smart home technologies for care of the older adults provides potential solutions to reduce the caregiver burden within families where they are urgently needed. Building an ethical system to support the application of these technical products should be explored. Methods: The literature search was performed in seven electronic databases. Relevant studies from January 2015 to February 2021 were selected; screening and analysis were completed independently by two researchers. Results: There were a total of 15 included studies on the ethics of smart home technologies for elderly care, which focused on the following issues: privacy (information privacy and physical privacy), autonomy (independence, informed consent and user‐centred control), safety guarantee, fairness and concerns about reduced human contact. Conclusions: There exist a number of ethical conflicts in the application of smart home technologies for elderly care. Aim: This rapid review examines the technology‐based interventions for caregivers of stroke proposed in the literature while also identifying the acceptance, effectiveness and satisfaction of the implemented approaches. Background: The increasing burden of supporting stroke survivors has resulted in caregivers searching for innovative solutions, such as technology‐based interventions, to provide better care. Hence, its potential to support caregivers throughout the disease trajectory needs to be assessed. Evaluation: Five electronic databases were systematically searched for articles related to stroke caregiving technologies based on well‐defined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Key issue(s): Fifteen articles met the inclusion criteria that focused on supporting caregivers through functionalities such as education, therapy and support, remote consultations, health assessments and logs and reminders using different devices. The majority of interventions demonstrated positive conclusions for caregiving impact, acceptance, effectiveness and satisfaction. Conclusion: Findings highlight the influences of technology in improving stroke caregiving and the need to include user‐centred design principles to create a meaningful, actionable and feasible system for caregivers. Background: The hemispherical aortic annuloplasty reconstructive technology (HAART) is an internal geometric annuloplasty ring designed to restore a natural elliptical shape to the aortic annulus as part of aortic valve repair. We present four-dimensional flow hemodynamic analysis before and after implementation of the HAART ring in patients undergoing ascending aortic replacement.Methods: Aortic hemodynamics over the cardiac cycle were visualized using time-resolved three-dimensional pathlines. Velocity streamlines tangent to the time-resolved velocity vector field were used to demonstrate instantaneous aortic hemodynamics. Peak velocities, forward and retrograde flow were calculated at nine planes placed along the midline of the thoracic aorta. Systolic wall shear stress and peak viscous energy loss over the cardiac cycle were calculated.Results: HAART patients displayed similar or improved flow profiles after surgery when compared to a patient undergoing ascending aortic replacement alone.Conclusion: There may be a trend towards improved flow dynamics in patients undergoing HAART ring implantation. Translation of evidence into practice in healthcare is challenging, particularly with new innovations. Indocyanine Green (ICG) lymphography is a novel innovation where the superficial lymphatics are imaged to provide information about lymphoedema diagnosis and to guide individualised therapy for a person's long‐term chronic management of lymphoedema, supporting care across the continuum to the community setting. Despite the unique information ICG lymphography provides, the technology itself is complex and highly specialised and currently has limited adoption in clinical practice. This paper sought to determine the barriers and enablers to establishing an ICG lymphography clinic within an outpatient lymphoedema service by exploring staff perceptions and experiences. An interpretive descriptive design was used with semi‐structured interviews of key staff participants from a quaternary public hospital six months after ICG lymphography clinic establishment. An interview guide was developed, underpinned by the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR), to guide the inquiry. Interview data were transcribed, inductively coded and analysed to identify themes. All eligible management, clinical and ancillary staff were included (N = 8). Four key themes were identified from the data as essential to implementation success. These were support is critical for implementation; beliefs about the technology; practicalities are achievable; and sustainability for ongoing success. Themes were found to be interrelated and centred around support from staff and the organisation as a critical process facilitator. The study demonstrated an ICG lymphography clinic can be successfully established as part of an outpatient lymphoedema service. Key enablers related to positive staff attitudes and beliefs about ICG lymphography and its application. Future implementation sites may consider that although the complexity of this innovation creates process challenges, the use of an implementation framework can assist in identifying determinants of success for effective implementation to practice. Background. Motor (re)learning via technology-dependent therapy has the potential to complement traditional therapies available to older adults living with stroke after hospital discharge and increase therapy dose. To date, little is known about the feasibility of technology-dependent therapy in a home setting for this population. Objective. To develop a technology-dependent therapy that provides mental and physical training for older adults with stroke and assess feasibility. Specifically we ask, "Can it work"? Design. Single group repeated measures. Methods. 13 participants, aged 18 years and over, were recruited over a six-month period. All participants had mild upper limb impairment following a stoke and were no longer receiving intensive rehabilitation. All participants received 18 days of technology-dependent therapy in their own home. Information was gathered on recruitment and retention, usability, and suitability of outcome measures. Results. 11 participants completed the study. The recruitment rate (number recruited/number canvassed; 10.7%) suggests 1907 participants would need to be canvassed to recruit the necessary sample size (n = 204) for a definitive trial designed to provide 90% power at 5% level of significance to detect a clinically meaningful difference of 5.7 points on the Action Research Arm Test. The usability of the application was rated as exceptional on the System Usability Scale. Effectiveness cannot be determined from this study; however, there was a trend for improvement in measures of upper limb function and emotional well-being. Limitations. The study was limited by a relatively small sample size and lack of control group. Conclusions. This study demonstrated proof of concept of a technology-dependent therapy for upper limb rehabilitation following stroke. The data suggest a definitive trial is feasible, additional strategies to improve recruitment should be considered. The presence of congenital permanent childhood hearing loss has a negative impact on children's development and lives. The current literature documents weaknesses in speech perception in noise and language development in many children with hearing loss. However, there is a lack of clear evidence for a longitudinal relationship between early speech perception abilities and later language skills. This study addressed the evidence gap by drawing on data collected as part of the Longitudinal Outcomes of Children with Hearing Impairment (LOCHI) study. Cross-lagged regression analyses were used to examine the influence of speech perception in noise at age 5 years on language ability at age 9 years and vice versa (i.e. the influence of language ability at age 5 years on speech perception in noise at age 9 years). Data from 56 children using cochlear implants were analysed. We found that preschool speech perception in noise was a significant predictor of language ability at school age, after controlling for the effect of early language. The findings lend support to early intervention that targets the improvement of language skills, but also highlight the need for intervention and technology to enhance young children's auditory capabilities for perceiving speech in noise in early childhood so that outcomes of children with hearing loss in school can be maximized. Online healthcare platforms serve not just as a medical knowledge-sharing community but also bring about effective interactions between professional physicians and patients. However, it is unclear whether online technology adoption affects such interactions in the same way between traditional Chinese medicine and modern medical departments. By utilizing a large sample of online doctor-patient interaction information from 168,870 doctor-specific interactive webpages recorded in a famous Chinese online healthcare community, this paper studies the differences between 17,513 traditional medicine doctor homepages and 151,357 others from more than 100 different specialty areas. Our chosen platform is representative since it covers about 800,000 physicians working at over 10,000 hospitals across all major provincial regions in China. We document that online medical service users tend to accept and use online health care services. However, patients seeing Chinese medicine doctors exhibit the following unique characteristics. They still prefer choosing doctors according to third-party information and may be reluctant to pay for the current online service price level. This problem is hard to overcome by the platform in the short run. Patients need a long-term process to adapt to the upgraded medical environment gradually. Aim: Describe nurses' perceptions of the barriers and facilitators that influence acceptance and use of remote visual monitoring technology. Background: Research has shown remote visual monitoring to be a useful patient safety intervention, yet nurses underutilize the technology. Methods: Using a qualitative descriptive study design, we completed a conventional content analysis of focus group feedback from two nurse leader groups and two direct care nurse groups (n = 13 participants) to explore factors influencing nurses' perceptions and utilization of remote visual monitoring. Results: Five main themes were identified: (1) Contextual human factors that impact nurse acceptance; (2) facilitators and barriers related to remote visual monitoring's functionality; (3) nurse leaders' role in maintaining device availability and efficient use; (4) nurse leaders' role in promoting adoption of the technology; and (5) nurse leaders' role in valuing nursing professional judgement. Conclusion: Findings indicate that nurse leaders can play a crucial role in direct care nurses' acceptance and use of remote visual monitoring technology. Implications for Nursing Management: In an era of limited staffing resources, remote visual monitoring has the potential to increase patient safety and decrease workload demands. Nurse leaders should identify barriers and facilitators to their nursing team's use of remote visual monitoring to promote the acceptance and use of technology that increases patient safety and cost‐effectiveness of care. Two of these four patients (Patients #1 and #11) met the CVVH requirements (Table 3) and were initiated on CVVH in the postoperative period (before UF therapy) (Table 4) due to postoperative shock states and anuria. CVVH is the preferred choice over conventional HD for postoperative cardiac surgery patients due to improved hemodynamic tolerance.14 Adult cardiac surgery patients mostly present acutely after many years of chronic medical conditions and modifiable risk factors, including HTN, DM, obesity, hyperlipidemia, physical inactivity, and smoking. To study the influence of conventional literature on foreign literature driven by big data, this essay begins with surveys and interviews. Chinese big data-driven corpora are distinct from other Chinese corpora, as is widely known. Its main objective is to categorize professional corpora that are unknown and fall within the category of professional corpora. In order to provide a straightforward and useful domain partitioning model for corpus texts, this research makes use of text clustering and big data-driven methodologies. We can easily determine the domain of the aligned text, making it easier to do machine translation research in the future. The research findings demonstrate that the accuracy rate of the approach suggested in this article is essentially above 89.79%, demonstrating the viability of the way of automatically building a corpus suggested in this paper in the experiment.
