It is shown that the system possesses globally bounded classical solutions under the following conditions χ 1 , χ 2 ∈ (0 , 1 2) for N = 2 , 3 or χ 1 , χ 2 ∈ (0 , N − 2 N − 1) for N ≥ 4. Moreover, if min ⁡ { μ 1 , μ 2 } > max ⁡ { χ 1 , χ 2 } 2 4 , we obtain the uniformly lower bound for w. Finally, when χ 1 , χ 2 are suitably small, it is proved that if 0 < a 1 , a 2 < 1 , then the solution (u , v , w) converges to (1 − a 1 1 − a 1 a 2 , 1 − a 2 1 − a 1 a 2 , 2 − a 1 − a 2 1 − a 1 a 2 ) in L ∞ norm as t → ∞ ; if 0 < a 2 < 1 ≤ a 1 , then the solution (u , v , w) converges to (0 , 1 , 1) in L ∞ norm as t → ∞. We define the Kodaira dimension for 3-dimensional manifolds through Thurston's eight geometries, along with a classification in terms of this Kodaira dimension. We show this is compatible with other existing Kodaira dimensions and the partial order defined by non-zero degree maps. For higher dimensions, we explore the relations of geometric structures and mapping orders with various Kodaira dimensions and other invariants. Especially, we show that a closed geometric 4-manifold has nonvanishing Gromov norm if and only if it has geometry H 2 × H 2 , H 2 ( C ) or H 4 . [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We introduce an effective method to determine the ∂ ¯ -harmonic forms on the Kodaira-Thurston manifold endowed with an almost complex structure and an almost Hermitian metric. Using the Weil-Brezin transform, we reduce the elliptic PDE system to countably many linear ODE systems. By solving a fundamental problem on linear ODE systems, the problem of finding ∂ ¯ -harmonic forms is equivalent to a generalised Gauss circle problem. We demonstrate two remarkable applications. First, the dimension of the almost complex ∂ ¯ -Hodge numbers on the Kodaira-Thurston manifold could be arbitrarily large. Second, Hodge numbers vary with different choices of almost Hermitian metrics. This answers a question of Kodaira and Spencer in Hirzebruch's 1954 problem list. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

[Display omitted] Organic phase change materials (PCMs) have attracted considerable attention for thermal energy storage applications because of their non-toxicity, suitable working temperature range and excellent thermal/chemical stability. However, most traditional organic PCMs have small molecular structures and are prone to leakage during fusion. To address this problem and enhance the shape-stability of organic PCMs, nanosphere-shaped porphyrin-ferrocenyl conjugated microporous polymers (PFCMPs) with high porosity (~ 650 m2/g) were solvothermally synthesized using a Diels-Alder reaction between 1,1′-ferrocenedicarboxaldehyde and pyrrole in the presence of glacial acetic acid and anhydrous Lewis acids (FeCl 3 , AlCl 3 , and CuCl 2). The PFCMPs were then encapsulated with PCMs, that is, 1-octadecanol (ODA), to prepare the composite materials of ODA@PFCMPs. The optimized composite exhibited a high latent heat (up to 153.8 J/g), excellent reversibility (negligible change in latent heat upon 100 cycles of heating–cooling), good shape stability, and long heat storage durability (425 s), making it a promising candidate for solar thermal energy engineering and management. Abstract: Acute motor axonal neuropathy (AMAN) variant of Guillain–Barré syndrome is often associated with IgG anti-GM1 and -GD1a antibodies. The pathophysiological basis of antibody-mediated selective motor nerve dysfunction remains unclear. We investigated the effects of IgG anti-GM1 and -GD1a monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) on neuromuscular transmission and calcium influx in hemidiaphragm preparations and in cultured neurons, respectively, to elucidate mechanisms of Ab-mediated muscle weakness. Anti-GM1 and -GD1a mAbs depressed evoked quantal release to a significant yet different extent, without affecting postsynaptic currents. At equivalent concentrations, anti-GD1b, -GT1b, or sham mAbs did not affect neuromuscular transmission. At fourfold higher concentration, an anti-GD1b mAb (specificity described in immune sensory neuropathies) induced completely reversible blockade. In neuronal cultures, anti-GM1 and -GD1a mAbs significantly reduced depolarization-induced calcium influx. In conclusion, different anti-gangliosde mAbs induce distinct effects on presynaptic transmitter release by reducing calcium influx, suggesting that this is one mechanism of antibody-mediated muscle weakness in AMAN. ANGPTL4 (angiopoietin-like 4) is a secreted protein involved in triacylglycerol homeostasis. It is a key enzyme in lipolysis, which stimulates the oxidation of fatty acids and inhibits fat accumulation by inhibiting the activity of lipoprotein lipase (LPL). Using quantitative Real-Time PCR (qRT-PCR) to investigate the mRNA expression pattern of the bovine ANGPTL4 gene in different tissues and organs, we found that bovine ANGPTL4 had the highest expression level in the liver followed by subcutaneous adipose tissue. To clarify the molecular mechanism involved in the regulation of bovine ANGPTL4 , we identified the transcriptional start site (TSS) of the ANGPTL4 gene and obtained 2011 bp of the 5′ regulatory region. A series of 5′ deletion promoter luciferase reporter assays revealed that the minimum functional promoter region of bovine ANGPTL4 was located at −568 bp to −261 bp relative to TSS. Two transcription factors, GR and Foxa1, were identified and considered as important transcriptional activators of ANGPTL4 by mutational analysis and RNA interference assays in combination with electrophoretic mobility shift assays (EMSA) in bovines. In conclusion, GR and Foxa1 were determined to be responsible for the regulation of ANGPTL4 transcription.
