• This article compares pictorial, hybrid and verbal usability questionnaires using classical psychometric parameters and respondent-centred measures. • A recently developed questionnaire measuring 'questionnaire experience' was used to assess respondent-centred aspects of questionnaire completion systematically. • Hybrid usability scales obtained slightly lower psychometric quality than the pictorial scales but were superior to pictorial and verbal scales with regard to respondent-centred aspects. In recent years, alternative types of usability questionnaires using graphical elements (pictorial scales) or a combination of graphical and verbal elements (hybrid scales) have been introduced. Previous research indicates that these questionnaires have advantages, such as increased respondent motivation, and drawbacks, such as extended questionnaire completion time. This study aimed to systematically investigate the psychometric properties and the respondents' experience of two versions of a recently developed questionnaire, the Pictorial Usability Inventory (PUI), consisting of a hybrid and pictorial version. Given that questionnaire length is a crucial factor for the usefulness of a scale, the study tested long and short versions (8 items vs 3 items) of both questionnaire types. The study involved an online usability test with 777 participants, who were asked to complete one of the four PUI versions and an established verbal usability scale after solving three tasks on a webpage. The results demonstrated high sensitivity, high convergent validity, and good internal consistency for all four PUI versions. While the long pictorial scale achieved the best psychometric properties overall, participants preferred the hybrid scales, particularly the short version. The study's findings are in line with previous research on pictorial and hybrid instruments and suggest that hybrid instruments, particularly short ones, may be superior to purely pictorial instruments in terms of respondent-centred aspects conceptualised in the term 'questionnaire experience'. • Applied bifactor models to NEO-FFI-3, HEXACO PI-R, and BFI-2 data estimating domain, evaluation, and acquiescence factors. • The evaluation factor was a significant, positive predictor of GPA. • There was little evidence of a relation of GPA to the acquiescence factor. • Domain factor score validities were more negative than corresponding summated scale validities. • Results suggest that extraneous factor contamination can be measured and used with the modeling techniques employed here. Bifactor models were applied to the NEO-FFI-3, HEXACO PI-R, and BFI-2 questionnaires. Factor scores of factors representing the domains of the questionnaires, evaluation, and acquiescence were estimated. Simple and multiple validities of the factor scores were compared with summated scale validities. The evaluation factor was a significant predictor of GPA in all questionnaires. There was little evidence of a relation of GPA to the acquiescence factor. The validities of the domain factor scores, controlling for the evaluation and acquiescence factors, were uniformly more negative than those of corresponding summated scales. Although it has long been recognized that employees' workplace affective commitment can be directed at a variety of foci, theory and research on this multifocal perspective remain underdeveloped, possibly due to the lack of a short, yet comprehensive measure. The purpose of the present study was to assess the psychometric properties of a newly developed short (24-item) version of the Workplace Affective Commitment Multidimensional Questionnaire (WACMQ-S), covering affective commitment directed at the organization, supervisor, coworkers, customers, tasks, profession, work, and career. Using two independent samples of English - ( N = 676, including 648 females) and French - ( N = 733, including 593 females) speaking healthcare professionals and the newly developed bifactor-ESEM framework, the present study supported the factor validity, composite reliability, test-retest reliability, linguistic invariance, and criterion-related validity (in relation to turnover intentions, in-role performance, and organizational citizenship behaviors) of the WACMQ-S ratings. The results also demonstrated the superiority of a bifactor-ESEM representation of WACMQ-S ratings, confirming the importance of taking into account employees' global levels of commitment to their work life. Finally, the results also proved to be fully generalizable to subsamples of hospital and community healthcare professionals, as well as of nurses and beneficiary attendants. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Whole grains are recommended by dietary guidelines because of their health-promoting properties, yet attitudes toward consuming these foods have not been examined. This study developed and validated a questionnaire to estimate willingness to consume whole grain foods. Focus group interviews with high school students and input from nutrition educators produced a list of 10 whole grain items that were included in the "Willingness to Eat Whole Grains Questionnaire". Young adult university students 18-29 years of age indicated their willingness to consume each of the whole grain foods using a 4-point, Likert-type scale with responses ranging from "always unwilling" to "always willing" and a fifth option of "never eaten". Participants' age, race/ethnicity, and gender were collected. Data were examined using exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and test-retest reliability. The EFA test (n = 266; 65% female; 69% white) using principal axis factoring returned a single factor that included all survey items and explained 58.3% of the variance. The CFA (n = 252; 62% female, 74% white) supported a single-factor solution: χ(2) = 80.57 (35); RMSEA = 0.07; Comparative Fit Index = 0.92; Tucker-Lewis Index = 0.90; and SRMR = 0.05. The questionnaire, administered on two occasions separated by two weeks to 36 university students, demonstrated good testretest reliability (r = 0.87, p < 0.0001). The "Willingness to Eat Whole Grains Questionnaire" had good face validity when used with a young adult population and will be a useful tool to help nutrition educators examine attitudes toward consuming nutrient-rich whole grain foods. Questions persist about the validity of the two most widely used achievement goal instruments (Patterns of Adaptive Learning Scales, PALS; and the Achievement Goals Questionnaire, AGQ). This study uses structural equation modeling to examine the convergence of results obtained with the AGQ and PALS within the same sample of high school students ( N  = 278). A test of convergent validity supports that the two instruments may similarly operationalize mastery-approach goals, but differentially measure performance goals. • Moral character may be the most central and consequential facet of one's personality. • The measurement of moral character suffers important shortcomings. • The MCQ is a new measure of global and domain-specific facets of moral character. • The MCQ has 30 items reflecting moral cognition, motivation, emotion, and behavior. • Examining self-reports, we find the MCQ has good reliability and validity. Although moral character may be the most central and consequential facet of one's personality, existing measures are few and suffer from shortcomings. We present the Moral Character Questionnaire (MCQ) to focus primarily on global moral character and secondarily on six moral domains – Honesty, Compassion, Fairness, Loyalty, Respect, and Purity. All subscales assess core components of personality dispositions, including behavior, motivation, cognition, and identity. Across 14 samples and >13,000 participants, MCQ subscales are generally unidimensional, have good-to-strong reliability, and are temporally stable. Based upon hypotheses regarding 21 criterion measures, analyses reveal strong convergent/discriminant validity. Finally, we found connections between the MCQ scales and core personality traits. Abstract: Despite the importance of work values in the process of career adjustment (), little empirical research has focused on articulating the domains represented within the construct of work values and the examination of evidence of validity for the construct has been limited. Furthermore, the larger number of work values measures has made it difficult to determine the key domains that constitute the construct. The current study sought to examine multiple measures of work values to understand domains represented within the construct of work values and to establish evidence of validity for these domains. Principal Components Analysis utilizing scores on the Minnesota Importance Questionnaire (), the revised edition of Super''s Work Values Inventory (SWVI-R; ), and Manhardt''s Work Values Inventory () found that six components best explained the data. These components reflected the importance of: the working environment, having challenging work, opportunities for status and income, autonomy, organizational support, and relationships. The prevalence of avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID) in the general child population is still largely unknown and validated screening instruments are lacking. The aims of this study were (1) to investigate the prevalence of children screening positive for ARFID in a Japanese birth cohort using a newly developed parent-reported screening tool, (2) to estimate the prevalence of children with ARFID experiencing physical versus psychosocial consequences of their eating pattern, and (3) to provide preliminary evidence for the validity of the new screening tool. Data were collected from 3728 4-7-year-old children born between 2011 and 2014 in Kochi prefecture, Japan (response rate was 56.5%); a sub-sample of the Japan Environment and Children's Study (JECS). Parents completed a questionnaire including the ARFID screener and several other measures to assess convergent validity. The point prevalence of children screening positive for ARFID was 1.3%; half of them met criteria for ARFID based on psychosocial impairment alone, while the other half met diagnostic criteria relating to physical impairment (and additional psychosocial impairment in many cases). Sensory sensitivity to food characteristics (63%) and/or lack of interest in eating (51%) were the most prevalent drivers of food avoidance. Children screening positive for ARFID were lighter in weight and shorter in height, they showed more problem behaviors related to mealtimes and nutritional intake, and they were more often selective eaters and more responsive to satiety, which together provides preliminary support for the validity of the new screening tool. This is the largest screening study to date of ARFID in children up to 7 years. Future studies should examine the diagnostic validity of the new ARFID screener using clinically ascertained cases.
