This research aims to identify some patterns of author (as user) generated tags to the papers of library and information science field in Academia.edu. The research method is typically based on text analysis and word frequency distribution. The population contains over 6000 papers tagged in Academia.edu, and their abstracts were extracted from 159 English journals of the library and information science (LIS) field in the Scopus database. The growth of different types of tags in terms of the number of their words (one-word, two-word, three-word, and four-word and more), as well as the total number of tags over time, appeared as a logistic curve. It was also found that two-word tags had the most matching (54.92%) and four-word tags or more the least matching (1.76%) with different sections of papers (title, abstract, and authors' keywords). The total tags matched 7.5% with the title, 76.61% with the abstract, and 15.89% with the authors' keywords. Regarding the reuse of tags, it was revealed that on the one hand, 38.8% of the tags had been reused; on the other hand, 16% of the tags were reused in the first year, and more than 50% of the tags were reused in the first three years. Finally, it can be said that the users' consensus on specific terms can identify the new patterns of users' tagging at least partially compatible with professional indexing concepts, and by focusing on the most widely used tags and their sustainable distribution, the weighting of indexing terms and even classification schemes may be achieved. This document is a letter to the editor addressing a typographical error in the formulas for the double Pareto-lognormal distribution and the normal-Laplace distribution. The authors clarify that the formulas themselves are correct, but there was an error in the expression of the Mills ratio in the correction by Amini and Rabbani. Understanding and simulating the evolution of fracture in cellulose-based paper materials is vital for many eco-sustainable applications of packaging solutions. In this work, we conduct an integrated experimental-statistical mechanics analysis to elucidate how the microstructural mechanisms govern the fracture behavior of paper. We employ in-situ tensile tests combined with confocal microscopy to observe and analyze key microstructural phenomena, such as fibers' activation and recruitment, and progressive tensile failure of unnotched paper samples under uniaxal loading. The developed stochastic mechanics critical cross-section model to treat the cellulose fiber network is able to decouple the stochastic morphological parameters from the constitutive model of the fibers. Notably, it robustly predicts the anisotropic properties of paper materials in the machine direction (MD) and cross-machine direction (CD) as a direct consequence of the different statistical distribution of fibers' orientation, for the same fiber constitutive model. The proposed approach is finally employed to get an insight into the role of the main morphological parameters, local/non-local fibers' strain redistribution, and finite elasticity of fibers on the whole mechanical behavior of paper. Overuse of empirical intravenous antibiotics in neonates in high-income countries (HICs) is well documented. The Kaiser Permanente neonatal early-onset sepsis (EOS) calculator is an evidence-based sepsis risk assessment tool that has demonstrated potential to reduce antibiotic usage in this population. The incidence of early-onset sepsis in most HICs is 0.4–0.8 per 1000 live births. The objective was to evaluate the calculator's impact on antibiotic rates and length of stay in a regional level II Special Care Nursery. A single-centre retrospective cohort study compared antibiotic administration rates in the first 72 h in neonates ≥35 weeks gestation born during two 6-month periods in 2019 (pre-EOS calculator) and 2021 (post-EOS calculator). Electronic and paper case records were accessed to capture data. Continuous data were summarised using mean and standard deviation, and categorical data were summarized using frequency distributions. There were 951 (2019) and 1129 (2021) infants born during the study periods. Following implementation of the calculator, antibiotic exposure decreased from 13.7% to 4.7% of all neonates without reported negative outcomes. Mean length of stay for neonates born across the two periods decreased from 2.38 to 2.13 days. Indications for antibiotic use shifted more towards clinical condition and away from obstetric risk factors. There were no culture-proven cases of sepsis or readmissions with EOS in either period. The distribution grid experiences node voltage fluctuations due to the growing uncertainty of large-scale renewable energy sources A practical solution is establishing a chance-constrained optimal model to deal with the uncertainties. However, using this method needs to know the accurate probability distribution of node power injections, which has limitations in application. Therefore, this paper proposes a distributionally robust chanceconstrained optimization method for power grid operation based on the ambiguity set of probability distributions. Firstly, considering voltage security constraints, this paper establishes a chance-constrained model to minimize the cost of active power regulation. Besides, based on the Wasserstein ambiguity set, a linearized method is proposed to convexify the objective function. Moreover, the conditional risk value (CVaR) is applied to convert the uncertain model into a deterministic model. In order to solve the problem of inaccurate image feature extraction caused by traditional extraction methods, this paper proposes a remote sensing image size extraction method based on nonlinear multi feature fusion for topographic maps. In this paper, SVM and DS evidence theory are combined to extract image features and classify pre processed remote sensing images. Based on the classification results, basic probability distributions are constructed, and a DS fusion algorithm using matrix analysis is introduced to simplify the complexity of decision level fusion algorithms; We use a multi feature fusion algorithm based on feature proximity, using the proximity vector formed by the attraction between the feature vector and the original graphics pattern as the fusion feature to complete the extraction of remote sensing image features. The simulation results show that after using this method, its soft threshold classifier outputs 0.9865, 0.9965, 0.7852, 0.9921, 0.9847, 0.6879, -0.5898, -0.5678, -0.6897, -0.4785. The algorithm in this paper can distinguish the shape features of terrain images well, and can extract the features of terrain images more accurately, which has strong feasibility. This paper applies Bayesian inference with normal-normal conjugate to forecast renewable energy generation. The generation forecasts a probability distribution rather than a quantitative value. An assumed normal distribution is initialized for renewable energy generation. This assumed normal distribution's parameters, the mean μ, and the standard deviation σ, are inferred by Bayesian inference afterward. However, applying Bayesian inference barely shall encounter an intractable integral. To circumvent the intractable integral, this paper considers the normal-normal conjugate method. This method fixes the assumed normal distribution's σ and characterizes μ as another normal distribution and then infers the latter normal distribution parameters. A case study of waste-to-energy generation forecast in Taiwan is investigated in this paper. This paper proposes an optimal power flow model that takes into account the uncertainty in the probability distribution of wind power. The model can schedule controllable generators under any possible distribution of wind power to ensure the safe and economic operation of the system. Firstly, considering the incompleteness of historical wind power data, the paper models the uncertainty of wind power using second-order moments of probability distribution and their fluctuation intervals. Subsequently, a robust optimal power flow model based on probability distribution model and joint chance constraints is established. The Lagrangian duality theorem is then employed to eliminate random variables from the optimization model, transforming the uncertainty model into a deterministic linear matrix inequality problem. Finally, a convex optimization algorithm is used to solve the deterministic problem, and the results are compared with traditional chance-constrained optimal power flow model. This paper considers theoretical foundations and mathematical methods of data analysis under the conditions of the Rice statistical distribution. The problem involves joint estimation of the signal and noise parameters. It is shown that this estimation requires the solution of a complex system of essentially nonlinear equations with two unknown variables, which implies significant computational costs. This study is aimed at mathematical optimization of computer algebra methods for numerical solution of the problem of Rician data analysis. As a result of the optimization, the solution of the system of two nonlinear equations is reduced to the solution of one equation with one unknown variable, which significantly simplifies algorithms for the numerical solution of the problem, reduces the amount of necessary computational resources, and enables the use of advanced methods for parameter estimation in information systems with priority of real-time operation. Results of numerical experiments carried out using Wolfram Mathematica confirm the effectiveness of the developed methods for two-parameter analysis of Rician data. The data analysis methods considered in this paper are useful for solving many scientific and applied problems that involve analysis of data described by the Rice statistical model. Accurate aircraft turnaround time prediction is an important way to coordinate the operation time of airport ground service and improve the efficiency of airport operation. In this paper, by analyzing the aircraft turnaround operation process, a description model based on Time Transition Petri Net is proposed. The model describes the flight turnaround operation process and the logical relationship of the operation. According to the model, a dynamic prediction method of turnaround time based on Bayesian theorem is designed. According to the actual landing time of the flight, the aircraft turnaround time is predicted. The specific method is to obtain the prior probability distribution and joint distribution law of each operation link according to the flight history data, and use Shapiro-Wilke to test the prior probability distribution of each link. Based on the analysis and comparison between the actual turnaround data of a large airport in China and the forecast data proposed in this paper, the root-mean-square error 3.75 minutes and the mean absolute error 3.40 minutes can be calculated. In this paper, based on high-resolution satellite images near an ice bridge in the Canadian Basin, we extracted floe size parameters and analyzed the temporal and spatial variations in the parameters through image processing techniques. The floe area shows a decreasing trend over time, while the perimeter and mean clamped diameter (MCD) exhibit no obvious pattern of change. In addition, the roundness of floes, reflected by shape parameters, generally decreases initially and then increases, and the average roundness of small floes is smaller than that of large floes. To correct the deviations from power law behaviour when assessing the floe size distribution (FSD) with the traditional power law function, the upper-truncated power law distribution function and the Weibull function are selected. The four parameters of the two functions are important parameters for describing the floe size distribution, and L r and L 0 are roughly equal to the maximum calliper diameter and the average calliper diameter of the floes in the region. D in the upper-truncated power law distribution function represents the fractal dimension of the floes, and r in the Weibull function represents the shape parameter of the floes, both of which increase and then decrease with time. In this paper, we investigate the response of the rate of change in the FSD parameter to the differences in the monthly average temperature and find that D , r and air temperature are positively correlated, which verifies the influence of air temperature on the floe size distribution. A preceding paper [M. Dhar, J. A. Dickinson, and M. A. Berg, J. Chem. Phys. 159, 054110 (2023)] shows how to remove additive noise from an experimental time series, allowing both the equilibrium distribution of the system and its Green's function to be recovered. The approach is based on nonlinear-correlation functions and is fully nonparametric: no initial model of the system or of the noise is needed. However, single-molecule spectroscopy often produces time series with either photon or photon-counting noise. Unlike additive noise, photon noise is signal-size correlated and quantized. Photon counting adds the potential for bias. This paper extends noise-corrected-correlation methods to these cases and tests them on synthetic datasets. Neither signal-size correlation nor quantization is a significant complication. Analysis of the sampling error yields guidelines for the data quality needed to recover the properties of a system with a given complexity. We show that bias in photon-counting data can be corrected, even at the high count rates needed to optimize the time resolution. Using all these results, we discuss the factors that limit the time resolution of single-molecule spectroscopy and the conditions that would be needed to push measurements into the submicrosecond region. In the open literature, there are numerous studies on the normal and extreme (flood and drought) behavior of wet and dry periods based on the understanding of the standard precipitation index (SPI), which provides a series of categorizations by considering the standard normal (Gaussian) probability distribution function (PDF). The numerical meaning of each categorization assessment is quite lacking in terms of future predictions of wet and dry period duration based on historical records. This paper presents a new approach for calculating possible formations of future wet and dry period durations based on historical records through an effective fractal geometric forecasting approach. The essence of the proposed methodology is based on the number of dry periods (steps) of non-overlapping monthly duration along consecutive broken line paths in the SPI classification for wet and dry period durations. It has been observed that the plot of periods on double logarithmic paper falls along a straight line against the number of such periods, implying a power function, which is the essence of fractal geometry. Extending the empirically derived straight line provides the number of periods that may occur in the future over a range of SPI levels. This methodology is referred to as SPI fractal (SPIF), and the classic SPI classification is converted into SPIF wet and dry polygons, which provide additional information about the drought period number within a valid polygonal area, compared to the classic SPI results. The wet and dry period features of any hydro-meteorology time series are constrained in SPIF polygons. The authors of the paper (Vitali et al 2022 J. Phys. A: Math. Theor. 55 224012) analyzed a simple CTRW model with a waiting time distribution defined as the weighted sum of two exponential distributions. They showed that their model meets many paradigmatic features that belong to the anomalous diffusion as it is observed in living systems. This paper investigates the thermodynamic properties of strongly interacting gravitational systems. By deriving the partition function for such systems, the authors obtain expressions for various thermodynamic quantities, including internal energy, specific heat, Helmholtz free energy, entropy, chemical potential, and pressure. This paper examines the paradoxical transparency involved in training machine-learning models. Existing literature typically critiques the opacity of machine-learning models such as neural networks or collaborative filtering, a type of critique that parallels the black-box critique in technology studies. Accordingly, people in power may leverage the models' opacity to justify a biased result without subjecting the technical operations to public scrutiny, in what Dan McQuillan metaphorically depicts as an "algorithmic state of exception". This paper attempts to differentiate the black-box abstraction that wraps around complex computational systems from the opacity of machine-learning models. It contends that the degree of asymmetry in knowledge is greater in the former than the latter. In the case of software systems, software codes are difficult to understand as only software experts with sufficient domain knowledge are equipped to formulate a sound critique. In contrast, the meanings of trained parameters in a machine-learning model are obscure even to the data scientists who configure and train the model. Hence, the asymmetry of knowledge lies only in how data examples are collected, the choice and configuration of machine-learning models, and the specification of features in model design. Under the trend of algorithmic decision-making proliferating with machine-learning heuristics, the paper contends that the more symmetric distribution of knowledge in machine learning could lead to a more transparent production process if proper policies are in place. Predicting urban morphology based on local attributes is an important issue in urban science research. The deep generative models represented by generative adversarial network (GAN) models have achieved impressive results in this area. However, in such methods, the urban morphology is assumed to follow a specific probability distribution and be able to directly approximate the distribution via GAN models, which is not a realistic strategy. As demonstrated by the score-based model, a better strategy is to learn the gradient of the probability distribution and implicitly approximate the distribution. Therefore, in this paper, an urban morphology prediction method based on the conditional diffusion model is proposed. Implementing this approach results in the decomposition of the attribute-based urban morphology prediction task into two subproblems: estimating the gradient of the conditional distribution, and gradient-based sampling. During the training stage, the gradient of the conditional distribution is approximated by using a conditional diffusion model to predict the noise added to the original urban morphology. In the generation stage, the corresponding conditional distribution is parameterized based on the noise predicted by the conditional diffusion model, and the final prediction result is generated through iterative sampling. The experimental results showed that compared with GAN-based methods, our method demonstrated improvements of 5.5%, 5.9%, and 13.2% in the metrics of low-level pixel features, shallow structural features, and deep structural features, respectively. Differential Evolution (DE) is widely recognized as a highly effective evolutionary algorithm for global optimization. It has proven its efficacy in tackling diverse problems across various fields and real-world applications. DE boasts several advantages, such as ease of implementation, reliability, speed, and adaptability. However, DE does have certain limitations, such as suboptimal solution exploitation and challenging parameter tuning. To address these challenges, this research paper introduces a novel algorithm called Enhanced Binary JADE (EBJADE), which combines differential evolution with multi-population and elites regeneration. The primary innovation of this paper lies in the introduction of strategy with enhanced exploitation capabilities. This strategy is based on utilizing the sorting of three vectors from the current generation to perturb the target vector. By introducing directional differences, guiding the search towards improved solutions. Additionally, this study adopts a multi-population method with a rewarding subpopulation to dynamically adjust the allocation of two different mutation strategies. Finally, the paper incorporates the sampling concept of elite individuals from the Estimation of Distribution Algorithm (EDA) to regenerate new solutions through the selection process in DE. The paper aimed to investigate the influence, on the assessment of the structural safety level of an existing r.c building, of the different choices that the technician in charge of a structural evaluation (the "analyst") can make regarding the structural elements to be tested to obtain a prescribed level of knowledge. To this end, the case study of a reinforced concrete framed structure built in the 1960s in Italy was investigated by means of numerical analyses. The probability distribution of the estimated safety levels was evaluated in the paper by means of a Monte Carlo approach, considering the alternative selections of elements done by a large number of analysts, and the probability of unsuccessful safety estimations is discussed for the knowledge levels considered in the Italian technical codes and the Eurocodes. This paper presents the design of a single-phase solid phononic crystal (PnC) structure featuring a regular hexagonal perforation pattern. The structure manifests three negative refraction bands, encompassing one for transverse waves and two for longitudinal waves, thereby enabling simultaneous control of shear and longitudinal waves. Due to the high symmetry of the triangular lattice, the equal frequency curves corresponding to the negative refraction band approach circular shapes, suggesting a nearly isotropic negative refraction effect. This negative refraction effect is achieved through specific mass resonance modes closely related to the porous structure designed in this paper. Initially, we analyze the band structure of the PnC, followed by designing the PnC plate structure to achieve negative refraction control for transverse waves at a frequency of 32.4 kHz, with a negative refraction index of −1. Additionally, negative refraction control for longitudinal waves is attained at frequencies of 44 and 64.54 kHz. Subsequently, we scrutinize the influence of various conditions on negative refraction, including different structural parameters, incident angles, and operating frequencies, while verifying the robustness of the designed phonon crystal structure. Leveraging the negative refraction characteristics of the structure, we construct an elastic wave lens to achieve perfect imaging of shear and longitudinal waves. Finally, employing finite element simulation and analyzing focusing imaging characteristics with different source positions, we validate that the results closely align with theoretical expectations. Anomaly detection for network traffic aims to analyze the characteristics of network traffic in order to discover unknown attacks. Currently, existing detection methods have achieved promising results against high-intensity attacks that aim to interrupt the operation of the target system. In reality, attack behaviors that are commonly exhibited are highly concealed and disruptive. In addition, the attack scales are flexible and variable. In this paper, we construct a multiscale network intrusion behavior dataset, which includes three attack scales and two multiscale attack patterns based on probability distribution. Specifically, we propose a stacked ensemble learning-based detection model for anomalous traffic (or SEDAT for short) to defend against highly concealed multiscale attacks. The model employs a random forest (RF)-based method to select features and introduces multiple base learning autoencoders (AEs) to enhance the representation of multiscale attack behaviors. In addressing the challenge of a single model's inability to capture the regularities of multiscale attack behaviors, SEDAT is capable of adapting to the complex multiscale characteristics in network traffic, enabling the prediction of network access behavior. Comparative experiments demonstrate that SEDAT exhibits superior detection capabilities in multiscale network attacks. Guided wave array-based structural health monitoring (SHM) is a promising solution for diagnosing damage in metal-connected structures. In this field, the reconstruction algorithm for probabilistic inspection (RAPID) is one of the most widely used algorithms for performing damage localization. In this paper, a density clustering RAPID based on an array-compensated damage index is proposed. A new probability distribution function was constructed based on a new damage index, which is adaptive to different elements in the sensor array to compensate for performance variation. Then, the imaging matrix of the RAPID algorithm was density-clustered to obtain the location and degree of damage. Finally, the method was verified by experiments on a stiffened aluminum plate. As a deep connection between agriculture and energy, the rural integrated energy system (RIES) is a micro-scale supply-distribution- storage-demand network, which provides an important means to realize the utilization of rural clean energy. This paper proposes a day-ahead scheduling model of the RIES to improve its economical effectiveness, where three energy carriers, namely, biogas, electric power, and heat, are integrated. To address the source and load uncertainties composed of photovoltaic power, power load, and heat load, this paper develops a constrained distributionally robust optimization (CDRO), which optimizes the cost expectation related to the extreme distribution to enhance the robustness, while limiting the loss of cost expectation in the historical distribution to ensure economical effectiveness. In addition, an ambiguous set of the source and load uncertainties incorporating 1-norm and infinity-norm constraints is established, which realizes a flexible adjustment for the conservativeness of CDRO. The distributionally robust dispatch is formulated as a deterministic programming in a two-stage solving framework, where the subproblem uploads its extreme probability distribution to the master problem, and these two problems are iteratively optimized until the convergence. Finally, the numerical simulations in a modern farm park prove the performance of the constructed dispatch model and the flexibility of CDRO in balancing the economical effectiveness and robustness of the dispatch. As one of the largest frequency regulation markets, the Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Maryland Interconnection (PJM) market allows extensive access of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESSs). The designed signal regulation D (RegD) is friendly for use with BESSs with a fast ramp rate but limited energy. Designing operating strategies and optimizing the sizing of BESSs in this market are significantly influenced by the regulation signal. To represent the inherent randomness of the RegD signal and reduce the computational burden, typical frequency regulation scenarios with lower resolution are often generated. However, due to the rapid changes and energy neutrality of the RegD signal, generating accurate and representative scenarios presents challenges for the methods based on shape similarity. This paper proposes a novel probability-based method for generating typical regulation scenarios. The method relies on the joint probability distribution of two features with a 15-min resolution, extracted from the RegD signal with a 2 s resolution. The two features can effectively portray the characteristic of RegD signal and its influence on BESS operation. Multiple regulation scenarios are generated based on the joint probability distributions of these features at first, with the final typical scenarios chosen based on their probability distribution similarity to the actual distribution. Utilizing regulation data from the PJM market in 2020, this paper validates and analyzes the performance of the generated typical scenarios in comparison to existing methods, specifically K-means clustering and the forward scenarios reduction method. To study the polarization reflection characteristics of metal surfaces, a parameter optimization method for the polarization bidirectional reflection distribution function (pBRDF) model of metal surfaces based on the improved strawberry algorithm has been proposed. Firstly, the light scattering characteristics of metal surfaces were analyzed and a multi-parameter pBRDF model was constructed. Then, the working mechanism of the strawberry optimization algorithm was investigated and improved by introducing the chaotic mapping and Levy flight strategy to overcome the shortcomings, such as low convergence rate and easily falling into local optimum. Finally, the method proposed in this paper was validated by simulating open-source data from references and the obtained ones with a self-built experimental platform. The results show that the proposed method outperforms those by nonlinear least squares, particle swarm optimization and the original strawberry algorithm in fitting the detected degree of polarization (DOP) data, indicating the modeling accuracy was significantly improved and better suited to characterize the polarized reflection properties of metal surfaces. The formation of unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) stands as a paramount concern in USV formation control research. In addressing this, this paper introduces a novel formation strategy for USVs, which accounts for their arbitrary initial positions and headings. Firstly, given the random distribution of the USVs' initial positions, to enhance the efficiency of formation assembly, the point set of the USVs is matched with basic formations using the Hausdorff distance to establish the formation. Building upon this foundation and acknowledging the potential hindrance posed by the arbitrary initial headings of the USVs, which could hinder their ability to reach the designated formation target points, a cost matrix is constructed based on the designed distance–azimuth evaluation function. Subsequently, the Hungarian algorithm is utilized to efficiently assign formation target points for the USVs. This study proposes a new five-parameter distribution called the gamma-exponentiated Weibull–Poisson (GEWP) distribution. As an extension of the exponentiated Weibull–Poisson family, the GEWP distribution offers a more flexible tool for analyzing a wider variety of data due to its theoretically and practically advantageous properties. It encompasses established distributions like the exponential, Weibull, and exponentiated Weibull. The development of the GEWP distribution proposed in this paper is obtained by combining the gamma–exponentiated Weibull (GEW) and the exponentiated Weibull–Poisson (EWP) distributions. Therefore, it serves as an extension of both the GEW and EWP distributions. This makes the GEWP a viable alternative for describing the variability of occurrences, enabling analysis in situations where GEW and EWP may be limited. This paper analyzes the probability distribution functions and provides the survival and hazard rate functions, the sub-models, the moments, the quantiles, and the maximum likelihood estimation of the GEWP distribution. Then, the numerical experiments for the parameter estimation of GEWP distribution for some finite sample sizes are presented. Tooth profile errors are the internal excitations that cause gear meshing errors, which are critical error factors affecting gear transmission accuracy. In existing studies, it is usually regarded as a constant or random distribution function. However, the actual machined tooth profile error is not a constant, so this estimation is inconsistent with the actual situation, resulting in an inaccurate evaluation of transmission accuracy. This paper proposes a method for representing tooth profile errors using distribution errors (including systematic and random errors), and a mathematical model of distributed tooth profile errors is presented. The contact stresses of the complex transmission system were compared with those obtained by formulas, proving that tooth profile errors increase contact stress. A method for calculating gear meshing error is proposed to evaluate the actual output accuracy of the complex transmission system. Compared with the test, the output accuracy is reduced by 13.8% under the temperature environment and distributed tooth profile errors. The proposed methods can accurately predict the transmission accuracy of precision transmission systems at the design stage and provide theoretical support for reducing systematic and random errors at the gear machining stage. This paper establishes a general framework for measuring statistical divergence. Namely, with regard to a pair of random variables that share a common range of values: quantifying the distance of the statistical distribution of one random variable from that of the other. The general framework is then applied to the topics of socioeconomic inequality and renewal processes. The general framework and its applications are shown to yield and to relate to the following: f-divergence, Hellinger divergence, Renyi divergence, and Kullback–Leibler divergence (also known as relative entropy); the Lorenz curve and socioeconomic inequality indices; the Gini index and its generalizations; the divergence of renewal processes from the Poisson process; and the divergence of anomalous relaxation from regular relaxation. The L-fractional derivative is defined as a certain normalization of the well-known Caputo derivative, so alternative properties hold: smoothness and finite slope at the origin for the solution, velocity units for the vector field, and a differential form associated to the system. We develop a theory of this fractional derivative as follows. We prove a fundamental theorem of calculus. We deal with linear systems of autonomous homogeneous parts, which correspond to Caputo linear equations of non-autonomous homogeneous parts. The associated L-fractional integral operator, which is closely related to the beta function and the beta probability distribution, and the estimates for its norm in the Banach space of continuous functions play a key role in the development. The explicit solution is built by means of Picard's iterations from a Mittag–Leffler-type function that mimics the standard exponential function. In the second part of the paper, we address autonomous linear equations of sequential type. We start with sequential order two and then move to arbitrary order by dealing with a power series. The classical theory of linear ordinary differential equations with constant coefficients is generalized, and we establish an analog of the method of undetermined coefficients. The Lyapunov exponent serves as a measure of the average divergence or convergence between chaotic trajectories from the perspective of Lyapunov exponents (LEs). Chaotic systems with more and larger positive LEs have more complex dynamical behavior and can weaken the degeneration of digital chaos. Some existing control algorithms for chaos need more and larger preset parameters, which are not favorable for practical application; others require the original system to satisfy specific conditions, which lack generality. To address the deficiencies of these algorithms, this paper proposes a construction algorithm of N-dimensional discrete non-degenerate chaos based on two-parameter gain (ND-NCTG), which can realize the non-degenerate or non-chaotic control of chaotic systems by only two control parameters. We take a 3D chaotic system as an example and analyze the relationship between control parameters and LEs, as well as the characteristics of chaotic sequences, to verify the effectiveness and reliability of the algorithm. In addition, since the initial value sensitivity of the chaotic system coincides with the sensitivity in input information for the hash function, this paper takes the proposed chaotic construction algorithm as the basis to design a bidirectional diffusion chaotic hash function. The effectiveness and security of this hash algorithm are verified by sensitivity, statistical distribution and collision analysis. Compared with similar algorithms, both the non-degenerate chaotic construction algorithm and the hash function algorithm proposed in this paper have better performance and can meet the application requirements of secure communication. Administrative strategies to cope with drought are steadily changing, from emergency procedures to day-to-day monitoring. More consideration must be paid to long-term and preventive drought control measures in the future. This paper discusses the risk of hydrological drought in the Yellow River Basin. The standardized runoff index (SRI) was used to characterize hydrological drought, and the run theory was used to identify drought states and quantify drought characteristic variables. Based on the drought severity and duration, a drought development plan was proposed and a three-dimensional copula function was constructed to obtain the joint distribution function of three-dimensional drought characteristic variables. A drought risk assessment system based on the loss × probability risk theory was constructed to explore the spatial and temporal characteristics of hydrological drought risk in the Yellow River Basin. Finally, according to the risk assessment results, the risk level was divided into low, medium and high risk, and a Bayesian network was used to explore the probability of hydrological drought. The main results are as follows: (1) From 1960 to 2018, the severity of hydrological drought in the Yellow River Basin increased, the duration lengthened, and the development speed accelerated. (2) The hydrological drought risk in the Yellow River Basin showed an overall upward trend, with the fastest increase in the HJ region of 0.041/10a. The highest annual average drought risk in the TDG region is 0.598. (3) The spatial transmission of hydrological drought risk is divided into three types: constant, enhanced and mitigation types, of which the constant type is the most common. The transmission probabilities of low, medium and high risk of hydrological drought from the HYK region to the low, medium and high risk of hydrological drought in the LJ region are 0.68, 0.66 and 0.78, respectively. The BL17B beamline at the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility was first designed as a versatile high‐throughput protein crystallography beamline and one of five beamlines affiliated to the National Facility for Protein Science in Shanghai. It was officially opened to users in July 2015. As a bending magnet beamline, BL17B has the advantages of high photon flux, brightness, energy resolution and continuous adjustable energy between 5 and 23 keV. The experimental station excels in crystal screening and structure determination, providing cost‐effective routine experimental services to numerous users. Given the interdisciplinary and green energy research demands, BL17B beamline has undergone optimization, expanded its range of experimental methods and enhanced sample environments for a more user‐friendly testing mode. These methods include single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction, powder crystal X‐ray diffraction, wide‐angle X‐ray scattering, grazing‐incidence wide‐angle X‐ray scattering (GIWAXS), and fully scattered atom pair distribution function analysis, covering structure detection from crystalline to amorphous states. In this paper, mobile devices were used to estimate the received signal strength indicator (RSSI) of wireless channels with three wireless access points (APs). Using the RSSI, the path loss exponent (PLE) was adapted to calculate the estimated distance among the test points (TPs) and the APs, through the root mean square error (RMSE). Moreover, in this paper, the proposed adaptive PLE (APLE) of the TPs was obtained by minimizing the positioning errors of the PLEs. The training samples of RSSI were measured by TPs for 6 days, and different surge processing methods were used to obtain APLE and to improve the positioning accuracy. The surge signals of RSSI were reduced by the cumulated distribution function (CDF), hybrid Kalman filter (KF), and threshold filtering methods, integrating training samples and APLE. The experimental results show that with the proposed APLE, the position accuracy can be improved by 50% compared to the free space model for six TPs. Finally, dynamic real-time indoor positioning was performed and measured for the performance evaluation of the proposed APLE models. The experimental results show that, the minimum dynamic real-time positioning error can be improved to 0.88 m in a straight-line case with the hybrid method. Moreover, the average positioning error of dynamic real-time indoor positioning can be reduced to 1.15 m using the four methods with the proposed APLE. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the practical production environment, the complexity and variability of hydroelectric units often result in a need for more fault data, leading to inadequate accuracy in fault identification for data-driven intelligent diagnostic models. To address this issue, this paper introduces a novel fault diagnosis method tailored for unbalanced small-sample states in hydroelectric units based on the Wasserstein generative adversarial network (W-GAN). Firstly, the fast Fourier transform is used to convert the signal from the time domain to the frequency domain to obtain the spectral data, and the W-GAN is trained to generate false spectral data with the same probability distribution as the real fault data, which are combined with the actual data and inputted into the 1D-CNN for feature extraction and fault diagnosis. In order to assess the effectiveness of the proposed model, a case study was conducted using actual data from a domestic hydropower plant, and the experimental results show that the sample features can be effectively enriched via data enhancement performed on small-sample data to improve the accuracy of fault diagnosis, which verifies the effectiveness of the method proposed in this paper. This study is anchored in the H2020 SEAMLESS project (https://www.seamlessproject.org , last access: 29 January 2024), which aims to develop ensemble assimilation methods to be implemented in Copernicus Marine Service monitoring and forecasting systems, in order to operationally estimate a set of targeted ecosystem indicators in various regions, including uncertainty estimates. In this paper, a simplified approach is introduced to perform a 4D (space–time) ensemble analysis describing the evolution of the ocean ecosystem. An example application is provided, which covers a limited time period in a limited subregion of the North Atlantic (between 31 and 21 ∘ W, between 44 and 50.5 ∘ N, between 15 March and 15 June 2019, at a 1/4 ∘ and a 1 d resolution). The ensemble analysis is based on prior ensemble statistics from a stochastic NEMO (Nucleus for European Modelling of the Ocean)–PISCES simulator. Ocean colour observations are used as constraints to condition the 4D prior probability distribution. As compared to classic data assimilation, the simplification comes from the decoupling between the forward simulation using the complex modelling system and the update of the 4D ensemble to account for the observation constraint. The shortcomings and possible advantages of this approach for biogeochemical applications are discussed in the paper. The results show that it is possible to produce a multivariate ensemble analysis continuous in time and consistent with the observations. Furthermore, we study how the method can be used to extrapolate analyses calculated from past observations into the future. The resulting 4D ensemble statistical forecast is shown to contain valuable information about the evolution of the ecosystem for a few days after the last observation. However, as a result of the short decorrelation timescale in the prior ensemble, the spread of the ensemble forecast increases quickly with time. Throughout the paper, a special emphasis is given to discussing the statistical reliability of the solution. Two different methods have been applied to perform this 4D statistical analysis and forecast: the analysis step of the ensemble transform Kalman filter (with domain localization) and a Monte Carlo Markov chain (MCMC) sampler (with covariance localization), both enhanced by the application of anamorphosis to the original variables. Despite being very different, the two algorithms produce very similar results, thus providing support to each other's estimates. As shown in the paper, the decoupling of the statistical analysis from the dynamical model allows us to restrict the analysis to a few selected variables and, at the same time, to produce estimates of additional ecological indicators (in our example: phenology, trophic efficiency, downward flux of particulate organic matter). This approach can easily be appended to existing operational systems to focus on dedicated users' requirements, at a small additional cost, as long as a reliable prior ensemble simulation is available. Reasonable distribution of braking force is a factor for a smooth, safe, and comfortable braking of trains. A dynamic optimal allocation strategy of electric-air braking force is proposed in this paper to solve the problem of the lack of consideration of adhesion difference of train wheelsets in the existing high-speed train electric-air braking force optimal allocation strategies. In this method, the braking strategy gives priority to the use of electric braking force. The force model of a single train in the braking process is analyzed to calculate the change of adhesion between the wheel and rail of each wheelset after axle load transfer, and then the adhesion of the train is estimated in real time. Next, with the goal of maximizing the total adhesion utilization ratio of trailer/ motor vehicles, a linear programming distribution function is constructed. The proportional coefficient of adhesion utilization ratio of each train and the application upper limit of braking force in the function is updated according to the change time point of wheelset adhesion. Finally, the braking force is dynamically allocated. The simulation results of Matlab/Simulink show that the proposed algorithm not only uses the different adhesion limits of each trailer to reduce the total amount of braking force undertaken by the motor vehicle, but also considers the adhesion difference of each wheelset. As one of the dimensionality reduction techniques of hyperspectral image (HSI), band selection (BS) does not change the spectral characteristics and physical meaning of HSIs, which is beneficial to the identification and analysis of surface objects. Recently, many BS methods for target detection have achieved promising results by making full use of the priori spectral features of the target to be detected. Conversely, anomaly detection separates the anomaly based solely on the statistical distribution difference between anomaly and background without any prior information. Therefore, the development of BS for anomaly detection has lagged far behind that of BS for target detection. To this end, this paper proposes a novel BS algorithm dedicated to anomaly detection tasks, named anomaly‐background separation and particle swarm optimization (PSO)‐based BS. Specifically, an anomaly‐background separation framework (ABSF) is established to predetermine a priori knowledge of anomaly distribution. Then, three band prioritization criteria are constructed with the anomaly‐background constraints generated by ABSF. Finally, PSO is used to find the optimal subset of bands in the solution space. The experiments on two real datasets demonstrate that the proposed method yields better detection results and greater stability compared to other BS methods discussed in this paper. Accurate assessment and prediction of water shortage risk are essential prerequisites for the rational allocation and risk management of water resources. However, previous water shortage risk assessment models based on copulas have strict requirements for data distribution, making them unsuitable for extreme conditions such as insufficient data volume and indeterminate distribution shapes. These limitations restrict the applicability of the models and result in lower evaluation accuracy. To address these issues, this paper proposes a water shortage risk assessment model based on kernel density estimation (KDE) and copula functions. This approach not only enhances the robustness and stability of the model but also improves its prediction accuracy. The methodology involves initially utilizing kernel density estimation to quantify the random uncertainties in water supply and demand based on historical statistical data, thereby calculating their respective marginal probability distributions. Subsequently, copula functions are employed to quantify the coupled interdependence between water supply and demand based on these marginal probability distributions, thereby computing the joint probability distribution. Ultimately, the water shortage risk is evaluated based on potential loss rates and occurrence probabilities. This proposed model is applied to assess the water shortage risk of the Yuxi water receiving area in the Central Yunnan Water Diversion Project, and compared with existing models through experimental contrasts. The experimental results demonstrate that the model exhibits evident advantages in terms of robustness, stability, and evaluation accuracy, with a rejection rate of 0 for the null hypothesis of edge probability fitting and a smaller deviation in joint probability fitting compared to the most outstanding model in the field. These findings indicate that the model presented in this paper is capable of adapting to non-ideal scenarios and extreme climatic conditions for water shortage risk assessment, providing reliable prediction outcomes even under extreme circumstances. This paper presents a novel class of interior solutions for anisotropic stars under the imposition of a self-similar symmetry. This means proposing exact solutions to the Einstein field equations to describe charged matter distribution with radiation flow. The Einstein–Maxwell system by employing specific choices of mass function is formulated to describe the gravitational collapse of charged, anisotropic, spherically symmetric distributions using the Schwarzschild metric. Two ordinary differential equations governing the dynamics are derived by matching a straightforward solution of the symmetry equations to the charged exterior (Reissner–Nordström–Vaidya). Models with satisfactory physical behavior are constructed by extensively exploring self-similar solutions for a set of parameters and initial conditions. The bounded confidence model assumes simple continuous opinion dynamics in which agents ignore opinions which are too far from their own. The two initial variants—Hegselmann–Krause (HK) and Deffuant–Weisbuch (DW)—of the model have attracted significant attention since the early 2000s. This paper revisits the version of the HK model applied to a probability distribution, earlier studied by Jan Lorenz. Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) offer comprehensive position, navigation, and timing (PNT) estimates worldwide. Given the growing demand for reliable location awareness in both indoor and outdoor contexts, the advent of fifth-generation mobile communication technology (5G) has enabled expansive coverage and precise positioning services. However, the power received by the signal of interest (SOI) at terminals is notably low. This can lead to significant jamming, whether intentional or unintentional, which can adversely affect positioning receivers. The diagnosis of jamming types, such as classification, assists receivers in spectrum sensing and choosing effective mitigation strategies. Traditional jamming diagnosis methodologies predominantly depend on the expertise of classification experts, often demonstrating a lack of adaptability for diverse tasks. Recently, researchers have begun utilizing convolutional neural networks to re-conceptualize a jamming diagnosis as an image classification issue, thereby augmenting recognition performance. However, in real-world scenarios, the assumptions of independent and homogeneous distributions are frequently violated. This discrepancy between the source and target distributions frequently leads to subpar model performance on the test set or an inability to procure usable evaluation samples during training. In this paper, we introduce LJCD-Net, a deep adversarial migration-based cross-domain jamming generalization diagnostic network. LJCD-Net capitalizes on a fully labeled source domain and multiple unlabeled auxiliary domains to generate shared feature representations with generalization capabilities. Initially, our paper proposes an uncertainty-guided auxiliary domain labeling weighting strategy, which estimates the multi-domain sample uncertainty to re-weight the classification loss and specify the gradient optimization direction. Subsequently, from a probabilistic distribution standpoint, the spatial constraint imposed on the cross-domain global jamming time-frequency feature distribution facilitates the optimization of collaborative objectives. These objectives include minimizing both the source domain classification loss and auxiliary domain classification loss, as well as optimizing the inter-domain marginal probability and conditional probability distribution. Degradation is an inevitable companion in the operation of solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) systems since it directly deteriorates the reliability of the system's operation and the system's durability. Both are seen as barriers that limit the extensive commercial use of SOFC systems. Therefore, diagnosis and prognosis are valuable tools that can contribute to raising the reliability of the system operation, efficient health management, increased durability and implementation of predictive maintenance techniques. Remaining useful life (RUL) prediction has been extensively studied in many areas like batteries and proton-exchange membrane fuel cell (PEM) systems, and a range of different approaches has been proposed. On the other hand, results available in the domain of SOFC systems are still relatively limited. Moreover, methods relying on detailed process models and models of degradation turned out to have limited applicability for in-field applications. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an effective, data-driven approach to predicting RUL where the trend of the health index is modeled by an adaptive linear model, which is updated at all times during the system operation. This allows for a closed-form solution of the probability distribution of the RUL, which is the main novelty of this paper. Such a solution requires no computational load and is as such very convenient for the application in ordinary low-cost control systems. The performance of the approach is demonstrated first on the simulated case studies and then on the data obtained from a long-term experiment on a laboratory SOFC system. From the tests conducted so far, it turns out that the quality of the RUL prediction is usually rather low at the beginning of the system operation, but then gradually improves while the system is approaching the end-of-life (EOL), making it a viable tool for prognosis. Economic globalization and the rapid development of the Internet make logistics systems more and more diversified, people and enterprises have greatly increased their requirements for logistics systems, and fourth party logistics has received more and more attention from people and related enterprises. In order to further study the routing problem under uncertain stochastic environments, this paper considers the fourth party logistics routing problem from a single manufacturer to multiple distributors with uncertain times and random supplies under the complete information symmetry scenario and symmetric transportation volume decision space. Then, an uncertain stochastic programming model is established with the minimum total cost as its core objective, and the total transportation time, manufacturer's supply, and distributor's demand as constraints. In order to solve the optimal path of the above problems, this paper transforms the uncertain stochastic programming model into a classical mathematical programming model based on the distribution functions of uncertain time and random supply.
