In this paper the emitted muon is considered to be polarized so the analysis is centered on numerically evaluating the radiative corrections to the longitudinal, transverse, and normal polarization muon components. The model dependence of radiative corrections is kept in general form within this approximation, which is useful for model-independent experimental analyses. The final expressions, with the triple integration of the bremsstrahlung photon variables are ready to be evaluated numerically, they are free of the infrared divergence or ultraviolet cutoff. In this paper, we scrutinize a radiatively generated QCD θ parameter at the two-loop level based on both full analytical loop functions with the Fock-Schwinger gauge method and the effective field theory approach, using simplified models. We observe that the radiatively generated θ parameters at the low energy scale precisely match between them. It provides validity to perturbative loop calculations of the QCD θ parameter with the Fock-Schwinger gauge method. Furthermore, it is also shown that the ordinary Fujikawa method for the radiative θ parameter by using θ ¯ = −arg det M q loop does not cover all contributions in the simplified models. But, we also find that when there is a scale hierarchy in CP-violating sector, evaluation of the Fujikawa method is numerically sufficient. As an application, we calculate the radiative θ parameter at the two-loop level in a slightly extended Nelson-Barr model, where the spontaneous CP violation occurs to solve the strong CP problem. Nambu Quantum Mechanics, proposed in Phys. Lett. B536, 305 (2002), is a deformation of canonical Quantum Mechanics in which the manifold over which the "phase" of an energy eigenstate time evolves is modified. This generalization affects oscillation and interference phenomena through the introduction of two deformation parameters that quantify the extent of deviation from canonical Quantum Mechanics. In this paper, we constrain these parameters utilizing atmospheric neutrino oscillation data, and B0- B 0 ¯ oscillation data from Belle. In this paper, we have estimated the neutrino mass ordering and the CP violation sensitivity of the proposed Protvino to ORCA (P2O) experiment after 6 years of data-taking. Both unitary and non-unitary 3 × 3 neutrino mass mixing have been considered in the simulations. In this paper, I review the status of CP violation in hyperon decay in light of recent progress by BESIII and the anticipated improvements at the super tau-charm facility. The Parisi–Wu scheme of quantization opens up the possibility of using anomalous fermionic gauge theories. An analysis of ultra-violet divergences reveals that the structure of counter terms is different from what is expected in conventional quantization schemes. In this paper, it is argued that there exists a possible mechanism of CP violation that requires at least three generations of quarks, a result well known from a phenomenological analysis of mass mixing of quarks. Parity violation in QCD is a consequence of the so-called QCD θ -vacuum. As a result, parity-odd fragmentation functions are introduced and they bring in new observables in the back-to-back dihadron productions in e + e − -annihilation experiments [1]. The experimental measurements on the corresponding parity-odd fragmentation functions can shed light on the local CP violation effect in QCD. On the other hand, the weak interaction also violates the parity symmetry. Therefore, the weak decay of heavier hadrons can also contribute to the parity-odd effects in fragmentation functions. In this paper, we investigate the weak decay contribution to these parity-odd fragmentation functions and compute their contribution to these new observables. In principle, the decay contribution should/can be excluded in the theoretical analysis and experimental measurements. However, this is usually not the common practice so far. Furthermore, in light of that the value of the θ -parameter is extremely small (θ < 3 × 10 − 10), the weak-parity-violating contributions become an important background in identifying the strong-parity-violating term. In this paper, we focus on the weak decay contribution of parity-odd fragmentation functions and demonstrate their sizable contribution in a numerical estimate. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The continued interest in placing bounds on the neutron's Electric Dipole Moment (EDM) is due to the implications regarding the characteristics of the strong interaction and, in particular, its behavior under the CP symmetry. In this work, we discuss the apparent tension resulting from the discrepancy of about 13 orders of magnitude between the current bounds and the expected quantum uncertainty in the relevant quantity. In this paper, we study the connection between the tribimaximal and bitrimaximal mixing patterns. In doing so, we are forced to work in a non-diagonal charged lepton basis. This leads to several relations that must hold between the lepton mixing angles. After a short discussion, we analyze the underlying flavor symmetry responsible for this prediction. In this work, we explore the possibility of the n – n ¯ oscillation accompanied by CP-violation in the presence of magnetic fields. The n – n ¯ oscillation, which violates the baryon number ( B ) by two units ( ∣ Δ B ∣ = 2 ), can originate from the mixing between the neutron (n) and the neutral elementary particle (η) and may give rise to non-trivial physical consequences that can be testable in future experiments. We show that the probability of the n – n ¯ oscillation can be greatly enhanced by properly adjusting the magnetic field. In particular, the peak values of the oscillation probability in the presence of resonance magnetic fields can be 8–10 orders of magnitude higher than that in the absence of magnetic fields. We point out that there might not be sizable CP-violating effects in the n – n ¯ oscillation unless the mass of η is close to the mass of the neutron. We also analyze the interplay among various parameters associated with both B -violation and CP-violation and attempt to disentangle the effects of such parameters. In this study, we calculate the Higgs mass matrix and explore the limitations of the minimum conditions of the scalar potential on parameter degrees of freedom in the CP violation TNMSSM. We discuss the contributions of some parameters to Higgs mass, and their impact on the strength of Higgs decay signals in different decay channels h → γ γ , h → VV (V = W , Z) and h → f f ¯ (f = b , c , τ) . We review and meta-analyze particle data and properties of hadrons with measured rest masses. The results of our study are summarized as follows. (1) The strong-force suppression of the repulsive Coulomb forces between quarks is sufficient to explain the differences between mass deficits in nucleons and pions (and only them), the ground states with the longest known mean lifetimes; (2) unlike mass deficits, the excitations in rest masses of all particle groups are effectively quantized, but the rules are different in baryons and mesons; (3) the strong field is aware of the extra factor of ϑ e = 2 in the charges (Q) of the positively charged quarks; (4) mass deficits incorporate contributions proportional to the mass of each valence quark; (5) the scaling factor of these contributions is the same for each quark in each group of particles, provided that the factor ϑ e = 2 is taken into account; (6) besides hypercharge (Y), the much lesser-known "strong charge" ( Q ′ = Y − Q ) is very useful in SU(3) in describing properties of particles located along the right-leaning sides and diagonals of the weight diagrams; (7) strong decays in which Q ′ is conserved are differentiated from weak decays, even for the same particle; and (8) the energy diagrams of (anti)quark transitions indicate the origin of CP violation. Since its discovery in the 1960s, the violation of CP symmetry has intrigued scientists and stimulated the advancement of knowledge in particle physics. Numerous experiments were designed and built to study it in increasingly deeper detail. Nowadays, the phenomenon is well framed within the Standard Model of Particle Physics. Nevertheless, new results are being produced by modern experiments at colliders that challenge the current understanding of the model. In this article, the current status of CP violation studies and the role of CP violation in the search for effects beyond the Standard Model are described together with the prospects for ongoing and future experiments. Small neutrino masses confirmed in the neutrino oscillation experiments indicate the need for new physics beyond the standard model. Seesaw mechanism is an interesting way to extend the standard model for explaining the neutrino masses. In a low-scale type-I seesaw mechanism, the tiny masses of neutrinos can be explained by heavy Majorana neutrino masses. Heavy Majorana neutrinos can lead to lepton-number-violating processes and the induced CP violation can contribute to the baryon asymmetry in the Universe. Heavy Majorana neutrinos can also lead to lepton-number-conserving processes and in this paper, we study the CP violation in lepton-number-conserving processes through heavy Majorana neutrinos at future lepton colliders. Interactions between Dark Matter (DM) and nucleons relevant for direct search experiments can be organised in a model independent manner using a Galiliean invariant, non-relativistic effective field theory (NREFT). Here one expands the interactions in powers of the momentum transfer q → and DM velocity v → . This approach generates many operators. The potentially most important subleading operators are odd under T, and can thus only be present in a theory with CP violating interactions. We consider two such operators, called O 10 and O 11 in the literature, in simplified models with neutral spin−0 mediators; the couplings are chosen such that the coefficient of the leading spin independent (SI) operator, which survives for v → → 0, vanishes at tree level. However, it is generically induced at the next order in perturbation theory. We perform a numerical comparison of the number of scattering events between interactions involving the T−odd operators and the corresponding loop induced SI contributions. We find that for “maximal” CP violation the former can dominate over the latter. However, in two of the three models we consider, an electric dipole moment of the neutron (nEDM) is induced at two-loop order. We find that the experimental bound on the nEDM typically leads to undetectably small rates induced by O 10. On the other hand, the model leading to a nonvanishing coefficient of O 11 does not induce an nEDM. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Small instantons which increase the axion mass due to an appropriate modification of QCD at a UV scale ΛSI, can also enhance the effect of CP-violating operators to shift the axion potential minimum by an amount, θind, proportional to the flavorful couplings in the SMEFT. Since physical observables must be flavor basis independent, we construct a basis of determinant-like flavor invariants that arise from instanton calculations containing the effects of dimension-six CP-odd operators at the scale. This new basis provides a more reliable estimate of the shift θind, that is severely constrained by neutron electric dipole moment experiments. In particular, for the case of four-quark, semi-leptonic and gluon dipole operators, these invariants are then used to provide improved limits on the ratio of scales for different flavor scenarios. The CP-odd flavor invariants also provide a classification of the leading effects from Wilson coefficients, and as an example, we show that a semi-leptonic four-fermion operator is subdominant compared to the four-quark operators. More generally, the flavor invariants, together with an instanton NDA, can be used to more accurately estimate small instanton effects in the axion potential that arise from any SMEFT operator. CP-odd Higgs couplings to bottom and charm quarks arise in many extensions of the standard model and are of potential interest for electroweak baryogenesis. These couplings induce a contribution to the electron EDM. The experimental limit on the latter then leads to a strong bound on the CP-odd Higgs couplings. We point out that this bound receives large QCD corrections, even though it arises from a leptonic observable. We calculate the contribution of CP-odd Higgs couplings to the bottom and charm quarks in renormalisation-group improved perturbation theory at next-to-leading order in the strong interaction, thereby reducing the uncertainty to a few percent. Using e+e− collision data collected at the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.128 and 4.226 GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.33 fb−1, we determine the absolute branching fractions of fifteen hadronic D s + decays with a double-tag technique. In particular, we make precise measurements of the branching fractions B D s + → K + K − π + = 5.49 ± 0.04 ± 0.07 % , B D s + → K S 0 K + = 1.50 ± 0.01 ± 0.01 % and B D s + → K + K − π + π 0 = 5.50 ± 0.05 ± 0.11 % , where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second ones are systematic. We derive necessary and sufficient conditions for order-2 CP (CP2) symmetry in N-Higgs-doublet potentials for N > 2. The conditions, which are formulated as relations between vectors that transform under the adjoint representation of SU(N) under a change of doublet basis, are representation theoretical in nature. Making use of Lie algebra and representation theory we devise an efficient, computable algorithm which may be applied to decide whether or not a given numerical potential is CP2 invariant. Using a dataset corresponding to 9 fb−1 of integrated luminosity collected with the LHCb detector between 2011 and 2018 in proton-proton collisions, the decay-time distributions of the decay modes B s 0 → J / ψη ′ and B s 0 → J / ψ π + π − are studied. The decay-width difference between the light and heavy mass eigenstates of the B s 0 meson is measured to be ∆Γs = 0.087 ± 0.012 ± 0.009 ps−1, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The Two-Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM) is a well-motivated theoretical framework that provides additional sources of CP Violation (CPV) beyond the Standard Model (SM). After studying the vacuum topology of a general (convex) 2HDM potential, we unambiguously identify three origins of CPV: (i) Spontaneous CPV (SCPV), where the vacuum manifold has at least two degenerate CPV minima disconnected by domain walls, (ii) Explicit CPV (ECPV) with one single CPV ground state, and (iii) Mixed Spontaneous and Explicit CPV (MCPV), where the theory possesses more than one non-degenerate CPV local minimum. Most importantly, we define a novel complex parameter rCP whose norm and phase control the three different realisations of CPV, at least at the tree level. In all these scenarios, only two CPV phases can be made independent, as any third CPV parameter will always be constrained via the CP-odd tadpole condition. Since ECPV vanishes in 2HDMs where SM Higgs alignment is achieved naturally through accidental continuous symmetries, we analyse the possibility of maximising CPV through soft and explicit breaking of these symmetries. We derive upper limits on key CPV parameters that quantify the degree of SM misalignment from constraints due to the non-observation of an electron Electric Dipole Moment (EDM). Finally, we delineate the CP-violating parameter space of the so-constrained naturally aligned 2HDMs that can further be probed at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We propose a model for leptons based on the smallest modular finite group Γ2 ≅ S3 that, for the first time, accounts for both the hints of large low-energy CP-violation in the lepton sector and the matter-antimatter asymmetry of the Universe, generated by only two heavy right-handed neutrinos. These same states are also employed in a Minimal seesaw mechanism to generate light neutrino masses. Besides the heavy neutrinos, our particle content is the same as the Standard Model (SM), with the addition of one single modulus τ, whose vacuum expectation value is responsible for both the modular and CP-symmetry breakings. We show that this minimalistic SM extension is enough to get an excellent fit to low energy neutrino observables and to the required baryon asymmetry ηB. Predictions for the neutrino mass ordering, effective masses in neutrinoless double beta decay and tritium decay as well as for the Majorana phases are also provided. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We discuss matters related to the point that topological quantization in the strong interaction is a consequence of an infinite spacetime volume. Because of the ensuing order of limits, i.e., infinite volume prior to summing over topological sectors, C P is conserved. Here, we show that this reasoning is consistent with the construction of the path integral from steepest-descent contours. We reply to some objections that aim to support the case for C P violation in strong interactions that are based on the role of the C P -odd theta-parameter in three-form effective theories, the correct sampling of all configurations in the dilute instanton gas approximation and the volume dependence of the partition function. We also show that the chiral effective field theory derived from taking the volume to infinity first is in no contradiction with analyses based on partially conserved axial currents. In this work, we investigate how multinucleon enhancement and RPA (Random Phase Approximation) suppression can affect the measurement of three unknown neutrino oscillation parameters — the CP-violating phase δCP, the octant of the atmospheric mixing angle θ23, and the determination of the mass hierarchy, in the appearance channel of the NOνA experiment. We include the presence of the detector effect as well in the analysis, which is crucial for capturing realistic experimental scenarios. We also conducted a comparison between the nuclear model Effective Spectral Function (calculated within the RFG model) with and without Transverse Enhancement in terms of sensitivity analysis. It is found that the analysis using our comprehensive model QE(+RPA)+2p2h along with Effective Spectral Function+Transverse Enhancement exhibits significantly enhanced sensitivity compared to the pure QE interaction process, in all the cases. Also, the higher octant of θ23, the lower half plane of δCP, and the normal mass hierarchy (HO-LHP-NH) exhibit improved sensitivity, enabling a more precise determination of the corresponding parameters. Furthermore, it is also noted that improving the performance of the detector also improves the results. Thus, including multinucleon effects and improving detector efficiency have the potential to enhance the capabilities of the NOνA (and other long baseline) experiment in conducting precise parameter studies. It has been recently claimed that the axion coupling to fermions is responsible for an oscillating electric dipole moment (EDM) in the background of axion dark matter. In this work, we re-examine the derivation of this effect. Contrary to previous studies, we point out the physical relevance of an axion boundary term, which is crucial in restoring the axion shift symmetry and drastically affects the EDM phenomenology. To describe the latter, we introduce the notion of a time-averaged effective axion EDM, which encodes the boundary term and whose magnitude depends on the oscillation regime. For slow oscillations, the boundary term washes out the standard oscillating EDM, resulting in an exact cancellation in the static limit. Conversely, during fast oscillations, the boundary term amplifies the effective EDM relatively to the standard EDM contribution. This observable is especially interesting in the case of the electron EDM. For an O (1) axion-electron coupling, the overall size of the effective EDM in the regime of intermediate or fast oscillations is comparable to the present static EDM limit. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We present a simple set of power counting rules which allows us to easily estimate calculable instanton effects up to O (1) factors. We apply the resulting Instanton NDA to examine the effects of small instantons on various axion models. We confirm that mechanisms that increase the axion mass via small instantons generically also lead to an enhancement of misaligned instanton contributions to the axion potential, deepening the axion quality problem. For generic models, new sources of CP violation in the UV must be absent in order to raise the axion mass above the QCD prediction. However, we find that ZN and composite axions are UV-safe against these misalignment effects. Axion GUT models are also insensitive to UV contributions at the GUT scale, unless a very large number of extra states are introduced below this scale. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We study an approach to construct Siegel modular forms from Sp(6, Z). Zero-mode wave functions on T6 with magnetic flux background behave Siegel modular forms at the origin. Then T-symmetries partially break depending on the form of background magnetic flux. We study the background such that three T-symmetries TI, TII and TIII as well as the S-symmetry remain. Consequently, we obtain Siegel modular forms with three moduli parameters (ω1, ω2, ω3), which are multiplets of finite modular groups. We show several examples. As one of examples, we study Siegel modular forms for in detail. Then, as a phenomenological applicantion, we study quark flavor models using Siegel modular forms for . Around the cusp, ω1 = i∞, the Siegel modular forms have hierarchical values depending on their TI-charges. We show the deviation of ω1 from the cusp can generate large quark mass hierarchies without fine-tuning. Furthermore CP violation is induced by deviation of ω2 from imaginary axis. Sources of CP violation beyond the Standard Model (BSM) are required to explain the baryonic asymmetry of the Universe. In this work, we study BSM CP-violating components in the HWW interaction in WH production, parametrized by an effective dimension-6 CP-odd operator. We explore a machine learning simulation-based inference method that estimates a detector-level optimal observable — SALLY — comparing it with energy-dependent and angular observables, exploring different binnings for their distributions. We show that in regions of phase space where the interference between SM and the effective operator dominates, the SALLY observable leads to optimal limits. In regions where effects of the quadratic term of the effective operator start becoming dominant, such an observable still leads to optimal limits. In some models of physics beyond the Standard Model (SM), one of the leading low energy consequences of the model appears in the form of the chromo-electric dipole moments (CEDMs) of the gluons and light quarks. We examine if these CEDMs can be distinguished from the QCD θ-term through the experimentally measurable nuclear and atomic electric dipole moments (EDMs) in both cases with and without the Peccei-Quinn (PQ) mechanism solving the strong CP problem. We find that the nucleon EDMs show a distinctive pattern when the EDMs are dominantly induced by the light quark CEDMs without the PQ mechanism. In the presence of the PQ mechanism, the QCD θ-parameter corresponds to the vacuum value of the axion field, which might be induced either by CEDMs or by UV-originated PQ breaking other than the QCD anomaly, for instance the PQ breaking by quantum gravity effects. We find that in case with the PQ mechanism the nucleon EDMs have a similar pattern regardless of what is the dominant source of EDMs among the CEDMs and θ-term, unless there is a significant cancellation between the contributions from different sources. In contrast, some nuclei or atomic EDMs can have characteristic patterns significantly depending on the dominant source of EDMs, which may allow identifying the dominant source among the CEDMs and θ-term. Yet, discriminating the gluon CEDM from the QCD θ-parameter necessitates additional knowledge of low energy parameters induced by the gluon CEDM, which is not available at the moment. Our results imply that EDMs can reveal unambiguous sign of CEDMs while identifying the origin of the axion vacuum value, however it requires further knowledge of low energy parameters induced by the gluon CEDM. The investigation of conservation/violation of conjugation and parity (CP) symmetry in the leptonic sector is essential to understanding the evolution of the universe. Lorentz invariance and CPT are fundamental symmetries of nature. The violation of Lorentz invariance can also lead to CPT violations. The standard three-flavor neutrino oscillation framework presents a scenario for observing the signature of Lorentz invariance and CP violations. This work focuses on the effect of Lorentz invariance-violating parameters on the sensitivity to CP violation. We investigate the sensitivity in two proposed configurations of the upcoming T2HK experiment: (i) one detector each placed at 295 km and 1100 km, and (ii) two identical detectors at 295 km. Motivated by the recent measurements of CP violating effects in singly Cabibbo suppressed D0 decays, we revisit the theoretical predictions of these channels. Using up-to-date values for the decay constants and form factors, we find already within naive QCD factorisation, surprisingly good agreement between the central values of the branching ratios and the corresponding experimental data. We further extend the study of these modes by employing the method of light-cone sum rules (LCSR) with light-meson light-cone distribution amplitudes. Using for the first time this framework to compute the leading contribution to the decay amplitude, we can again describe well the experimental branching ratios for the modes D0 → π+K−, D0 → K+K−, D0 → π+π− and D0 → K+π−. The combination of our results with known predictions for the penguin contributions obtained with LCSR, leads to an upper bound for the value of direct CP violation expected in the Standard Model of , which is approximately a factor six smaller than the current measurement. We have performed a systematical study of the eclectic flavor group ∆(27) ⋊ S3 which is the extension of the traditional flavor symmetry ∆(27) by the finite modular symmetry S3. Consistency between ∆(27) and S3 requires that the eight nontrivial singlet representations of ∆(27) should be arranged into four reducible doublets. The modular transformation matrices are determined for various ∆(27) multiplets, and the CP-like symmetry compatible with ∆(27) ⋊ S3 are discussed. We study the general form of the Kähler potential and superpotential invariant under ∆(27) ⋊ S3, and the corresponding fermion mass matrices are presented. We propose a bottom-up model for lepton masses and mixing based on ∆(27) ⋊ S3, a numerical analysis is performed and the experimental data can be accommodated. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A measurement of CP-violating observables in B± → D*K± and B± → D*π± decays is made where the photon or neutral pion from the D*→ Dγ or D*→ Dπ0 decay is not reconstructed. The D meson is reconstructed in the self-conjugate decay modes, D → K S 0 π+π− or D → K S 0 K+K−. The distribution of signal yields in the D decay phase space is analysed in a model-independent way. The measurement uses a data sample collected in proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV, corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of approximately 9 fb−1. The B± → D*K± and B± → D*π±CP-violating observables are interpreted in terms of hadronic parameters and the CKM angle γ, resulting in a measurement of γ = ( 92 − 17 + 21 )°. The Two Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM) stands as a promising framework for exploring physics beyond the Standard Model (SM). Within this context, we explore the possibility that the two Higgs doublets may serve as a window into CP-violating dark sectors, neutral under the SM gauge groups. Specifically, our focus is on investigating the electric dipole moment (EDM) of the electron, generated solely by CP violation in the dark sector. We present a general formula for the electron EDM, without specifying the structure of the dark sectors, and discuss the current constraints on various dark sector models. It is noteworthy that even in the case of a CP-conserving 2HDM, the resulting electron EDM is capable of reaching the current experimental limit, with CP violation arising exclusively from the dark sectors. Furthermore, we introduce a heavy dark sector (HDS) approximation for the analytic calculation of the EDM, assuming that the dark sector particles are much heavier than the physical states in the 2HDM. We discuss the construction of the most general CP-violating chiral Lagrangian for an axion-like particle (ALP). Starting with an effective Lagrangian containing light quarks and gluons, we provide its matching onto a chiral effective Lagrangian at O (p2) described in terms of mesons and baryons, identifying the correspondence between the Jarlskog invariants of the two theories. After deriving the ALP interactions with mesons and baryons, we analyse a few relevant phenomenological implications such as the permanent electric dipole moments of nucleons and the CP-violating ALP and kaon decays. This work provides the necessary tools for further phenomenological analyses connecting low-energy observables with the couplings of the underlying ultraviolet complete theory. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
