Snow cover and runoff play an important role in the Arctic environment, which is increasingly affected by climate change. Over the past 30 years, winter temperatures in northern Sweden have risen by 2 °C, accompanied by an increase in precipitation. This has led to a higher incidence of thaw–freeze and rain-on-snow events. Snow properties, such as the snow depth and longevity, and the timing of snowmelt in spring significantly impact the alpine tundra vegetation. The emergent vegetation at the edge of the snow patches during spring and summer constitutes an essential nutrient supply for reindeer. We have used Sentinel-1 synthetic aperture radar (SAR) to determine the onset of the surface melt and the end of the snow cover in the core reindeer grazing area of the Laevás Sámi reindeer-herding community in northern Sweden. Using SAR data from March to August during the period 2017 to 2021, the start of the surface melt is identified by detecting the season's backscatter minimum. The end of the snow cover is determined using a threshold approach. A comparison between the results of the analysis of the end of the snow cover from Sentinel-1 and in situ measurements, for the years 2017 to 2020, derived from an automatic weather station located in Laevásvággi reveals a 2- to 10-day difference in the snow-free ground conditions, which indicates that the method can be used to investigate when the ground is free of snow. VH data are preferred to VV data due to the former's lower sensitivity to temporary wetting events. The outcomes from the season backscatter minimum demonstrate a distinct 25-day difference in the start of the runoff between the 5 investigated years. Satellite data have been widely utilized for flood detection and mapping tasks, and in recent years, there has been a growing interest in using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data due to the increased availability of recent missions with enhanced temporal resolution. This capability, when combined with the inherent advantages of SAR technology over optical sensors, such as spatial resolution and independence from weather conditions, allows for timely and accurate information on flood event dynamics. In this study, we present an innovative automated approach, SAR-RST-FLOOD, for mapping flooded areas using SAR data. Based on a multi-temporal analysis of Sentinel 1 data, such an approach would allow for robust and automatic identification of flooded areas. To assess its reliability and accuracy, we analyzed five case studies in areas where floods caused significant damage. Performance metrics, such as overall (OA), user (UA), and producer (PA) accuracy, as well as the Kappa index (K), were used to evaluate the methodology by considering several reference flood maps. The results demonstrate a user accuracy exceeding 0.78 for each test map when compared to the observed flood data. Additionally, the overall accuracy values surpassed 0.96, and the kappa index values exceeded 0.78 when compared to the mapping processes from observed data or other reference datasets from the Copernicus Emergency Management System. Considering these results and the fact that the proposed approach has been implemented within the Google Earth Engine framework, its potential for global-scale applications is evident. The geological and topographic conditions in the upper reaches of the Jinsha River are intricate, with frequent occurrences of landslides. Landslide Susceptibility Prediction (LSP) in this area is a crucial aspect of geological disaster risk management. This study constructs an LSP model using a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) based on a Bilateral Aggregation Guidance (BAG) strategy, termed BGA-Net. A comprehensive landslide hazard analysis, integrating static landslide susceptibility zonation with dynamic surface deformation monitoring, was therefore conducted. The study area selected was the upper reaches of the Jinsha River, particularly the site of the Baige landslide. The BGA-Net model was first proposed for LSP generation, achieving an accuracy exceeding 85%, while the Small Baseline Subset Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (SBAS-InSAR) technology was jointly applied to comprehensively analyze the dynamic geological hazard risk at a regional scale. The final results were presented in a lookup table format and mapped to delineate and grade each risk level. The results show the method is practical, with high feasibility. Compared with traditional machine learning methods, the BGA-strategy-oriented CNN model more effectively differentiated the extremely low- and extremely high-susceptibility areas, enhancing decision-making processes. A submarine landslide on the edge of the Norwegian shelf that occurred around 8150 ± 30 cal. years BP triggered a major ocean-wide tsunami, the deposits of which are recorded around the North Atlantic, including Scotland. Ground-penetrating radar (GPR) was used here to investigate tsunami sediments within estuaries on the coast of northeastern Scotland where the tsunami waves were funnelled inland. Around the Dornoch Firth, the tsunami deposits are up to 1.6 m thickness, which is exceptionally thick for tsunami deposits and about twice the thickness of the 2004 IOT or 2011 Tohoku-oki tsunami deposits. The exceptional thickness is attributed to a high sediment supply within the Dornoch Firth. At Ardmore, the tsunami appears to have overtopped a beach ridge with a thick sand layer deposited inland at Dounie and partly infilled a valley. Later, fluvial activity eroded the tsunami sediments locally, removing the sand layer. At Creich, on the north side of the Dornoch Firth, the sand layer varies in thickness; mapping of the sand layer with GPR shows lateral thickness changes of over 1 m attributed to a combination of infilling an underlying topography, differential compaction, and later reworking by tidal inlets. Interpretation of the GPR profiles at Wick suggests that there has been a miscorrelation of Holocene stratigraphy based on boreholes. Changes in the stratigraphy of spits at Ardmore are attributed to the balance between sediment supply and sea-level change with washovers dominating a spit formed during the early Holocene transgression, while spits formed during the subsequent mid-Holocene high-stand are dominated by progradation. Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) change detection provides a powerful tool for continuous, reliable, and objective observation of the Earth, supporting a wide range of applications that require regular monitoring and assessment of changes in the natural and built environment. In this paper, we introduce a novel SAR image change detection method based on principal component analysis and two-level clustering. First, two difference images of the log-ratio and mean-ratio operators are computed, then the principal component analysis fusion model is used to fuse the two difference images, and a new difference image is generated. To incorporate contextual information during the feature extraction phase, Gabor wavelets are used to obtain the representation of the difference image across multiple scales and orientations. The maximum magnitude across all orientations at each scale is then concatenated to form the Gabor feature vector. Following this, a cascading clustering algorithm is developed within this discriminative feature space by merging the first-level fuzzy c-means clustering with the second-level neighbor rule. Ultimately, the two-level combination of the changed and unchanged results produces the final change map. Characterizing the coseismic slip behaviors of earthquakes could offer a better understanding of regional crustal deformation and future seismic potential assessments. On 18 December 2023, an Mw 6.0 earthquake occurred on the Lajishan–Jishishan fault system (LJFS) in the northeastern Tibetan Plateau, causing serious damage and casualties. The seismogenic fault hosting this earthquake is not well constrained, as no surface rupture was identified in the field. To address this issue, in this study, we use Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) data to investigate the coseismic surface deformation of this earthquake and invert both ascending and descending line-of-sight observations to probe the seismogenic fault and its slip characteristics. The InSAR observations show up to ~6 cm surface uplift caused by the Jishishan earthquake, which is consistent with the thrust-dominated focal mechanism. A Bayesian-based dislocation modeling indicates that two fault models, with eastern and western dip orientations, could reasonably fit the InSAR observations. By calculating the coseismic Coulomb failure stress changes (∆CFS) induced by both fault models, we find that the east-dipping fault scenario could reasonably explain the aftershock distributions under the framework of stress triggering, while the west-dipping fault scenario produced a negative ∆CFS in the region of dense aftershocks. Integrating regional geological structures, we suggest that the seismogenic fault of the Jishishan earthquake, which strikes NNE with a dip of 56° to the east, may be either the Jishishan western margin fault or a secondary buried branch. The optimal finite-fault slip modeling shows that the coseismic slip was dominated by reverse slip and confined to a depth range between ~5 and 15 km. The released seismic moment is 1.61 × 1018 N·m, which is equivalent to an Mw 6.07 earthquake. While the Jishishan earthquake ruptured a fault segment of approximately 20 km, it only released a small part of the seismic moment that was accumulated along the 220 km long Lajishan–Jishishan fault system. Coastal sediment grain size is an important factor in determining coastal morphodynamics. In this study, we explore a novel approach for retrieving the median sediment grain size (D50) of gravel-dominated beaches using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) spaceborne imagery. We assessed this by using thirty-six Sentinel-1 (C-band SAR) satellite images acquired in May and June 2022 and 2023, and three NovaSAR (S-band SAR) satellite images acquired in May and June 2022, for three different training sites and one test site across England (the UK). The results from the Sentinel-1 C-band data show strong positive correlations (R2 ≥ 0.75 ) between the D50 and the backscatter coefficients for 15/18 of the resultant models. The models were subsequently used to derive predictions of D50 for the test site, with the models which exhibited the strongest correlations resulting in Mean Absolute Errors (MAEs) in the range 2.26–5.47 mm. No correlation (R2 = 0.04) was found between the backscatter coefficients from the S-band NovaSAR data and D50. These results highlight the potential to derive near-real time estimates of coastal sediment grain size for gravel beaches to better inform coastal erosion and monitoring programs. Tomographic Synthetic Aperture Radar (TomoSAR) building object height inversion is a sparse reconstruction problem that utilizes the data obtained from several spacecraft passes to invert the scatterer position in the height direction. In practical applications, the number of passes is often small, and the observation data are also small due to the objective conditions, so this study focuses on the inversion under the restricted observation data conditions. The Analytic Learned Iterative Shrinkage Thresholding Algorithm (ALISTA) is a kind of deep unfolding network algorithm, which is a combination of the Iterative Shrinkage Thresholding Algorithm (ISTA) and deep learning technology, and it has the advantages of both. The ALISTA is one of the representative algorithms for TomoSAR building object height inversion. However, the structure of the ALISTA algorithm is simple, which has neither the excellent connection structure of a deep learning network nor the acceleration format combined with the ISTA algorithm. Therefore, this study proposes two directions of improvement for the ALISTA algorithm: firstly, an improvement in the inter-layer connection of the network by introducing a connection similar to residual networks obtains the Extragradient Analytic Learned Iterative Shrinkage Thresholding Algorithm (EALISTA) and further proves that the EALISTA achieves linear convergence; secondly, there is an improvement in the iterative format of the intra-layer iteration of the network by introducing the Nesterov momentum acceleration, which obtains the Fast Analytic Learned Iterative Shrinkage Thresholding Algorithm (FALISTA). We first performed inversion experiments on simulated data, which verified the effectiveness of the two proposed algorithms. Then, we conducted TomoSAR building object height inversion experiments on limited measured data and used the deviation metric P to measure the robustness of the algorithms to invert under restricted observation data. The results show that both proposed algorithms have better robustness, which verifies the superior performance of the two algorithms. In addition, we further analyze how to choose the most suitable algorithms for inversion in engineering practice applications based on the results of the experiments on measured data. This manuscript presents a novel scheme to achieve high-resolution laser-radar ranging with a small sample number under low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) conditions. To reduce the sample number, the Restricted Isometry Property-based optimal multi-channel coprime-sampling (RIP-OMCS) strategy is established. In the RIP-OMCS strategy, the data collected across multiple channels with very low coprime-sampling rates can record accurate range information on each target. Further, the asynchronous problem caused by channel sampling-time errors is considered. The sampling-time errors are estimated using the cross-correlation function. After canceling the asynchronous problem, the data collected by multiple channels are then merged into non-uniform sampled signals. Using data combination, target-range estimation is converted into an optimization problem of sparse representation consisting of a non-uniform Fourier dictionary. This optimization problem is solved using adaptive hybrid re-weighted constraint (AHRC) l1 minimization. Two constraints are formed from statistical attributes of the targets and clutter. Moreover, as the detailed characteristics of the target, clutter, and noise are unknown before the solution, the two constraints can be adaptively modified, which guarantees that l1 minimization obtains the high-resolution range profile and accurate distance of all targets under a low SNR. As the demand for precise navigation of aircraft increases in modern society, researching high-precision, high-autonomy navigation systems is both theoretically valuable and practically significant. Because the inertial navigation system (INS) has systematic and random errors, its output information diverges. Therefore, it is necessary to combine them with other navigation systems for real-time compensation and correction of these errors. The SAR matching positioning and navigation system uses synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image matching for platform positioning and compensates for the drift caused by errors in the inertial measurement unit (IMU). Images obtained by SAR are matched with digital landmark data, and the platform's position is calculated based on the SAR imaging geometry. However, SAR matching positioning faces challenges due to seasonal variations in SAR images, the need for typical landmarks for matching, and the lack of elevation information in two-dimensional SAR image matching. This paper proposes an airborne platform positioning method based on interferometric SAR (InSAR) interferogram matching. InSAR interferograms contain terrain elevation information, are less affected by seasonal changes, and provide higher positioning accuracy and robustness. By matching real-time InSAR-processed interferograms with simulated interferograms using a digital elevation model (DEM), three-dimensional position information about the matching points has been obtained. Subsequently, a three-dimensional positioning model for the platform has bene established using the unit line-of-sight vector decomposition method. In actual flight experiments using an FMCW Ku-band Interferometric SAR system, the proposed platform positioning framework demonstrated its ability to achieve precise positioning in the absence of signals from the global navigation satellite system (GNSS). Short-term precipitation forecasting is essential for agriculture, transportation, urban management, and tourism. The radar echo extrapolation method is widely used in precipitation forecasting. To address issues like forecast degradation, insufficient capture of spatiotemporal dependencies, and low accuracy in radar echo extrapolation, we propose a new model: MS-DD3D-RSTN. This model employs spatiotemporal convolutional blocks (STCBs) as spatiotemporal feature extractors and uses the spatial-temporal loss (STLoss) function to learn intra-frame and inter-frame changes for end-to-end training, thereby capturing the spatiotemporal dependencies in radar echo signals. Experiments on the Sichuan dataset and the HKO-7 dataset show that the proposed model outperforms advanced models in terms of CSI and POD evaluation metrics. For 2 h forecasts with 20 dBZ and 30 dBZ reflectivity thresholds, the CSI metrics reached 0.538, 0.386, 0.485, and 0.198, respectively, representing the best levels among existing methods. The experiments demonstrate that the MS-DD3D-RSTN model enhances the ability to capture spatiotemporal dependencies, mitigates forecast degradation, and further improves radar echo prediction performance. In scenarios such as nearshore and inland waterways, the ship spots in a marine radar are easily confused with reefs and shorelines, leading to difficulties in ship identification. In such settings, the conventional ARPA method based on fractal detection and filter tracking performs relatively poorly. To accurately identify radar targets in such scenarios, a novel algorithm, namely YOSMR, based on the deep convolutional network, is proposed. The YOSMR uses the MobileNetV3(Large) network to extract ship imaging data of diverse depths and acquire feature data of various ships. Meanwhile, taking into account the issue of feature suppression for small-scale targets in algorithms composed of deep convolutional networks, the feature fusion module known as PANet has been subject to a lightweight reconstruction leveraging depthwise separable convolutions to enhance the extraction of salient features for small-scale ships while reducing model parameters and computational complexity to mitigate overfitting problems. To enhance the scale invariance of convolutional features, the feature extraction backbone is followed by an SPP module, which employs a design of four max-pooling constructs to preserve the prominent ship features within the feature representations. In the prediction head, the Cluster-NMS method and α-DIoU function are used to optimize non-maximum suppression (NMS) and positioning loss of prediction boxes, improving the accuracy and convergence speed of the algorithm. The experiments showed that the recall, accuracy, and precision of YOSMR reached 0.9308, 0.9204, and 0.9215, respectively. The identification efficacy of this algorithm exceeds that of various YOLO algorithms and other lightweight algorithms. In addition, the parameter size and calculational consumption were controlled to only 12.4 M and 8.63 G, respectively, exhibiting an 80.18% and 86.9% decrease compared to the standard YOLO model. As a result, the YOSMR displays a substantial advantage in terms of convolutional computation. Hence, the algorithm achieves an accurate identification of ships with different trail features and various scenes in marine radar images, especially in different interference and extreme scenarios, showing good robustness and applicability. Many fields of human activity benefit from the ability to create images of obscured objects placed behind walls and to map their displacement in a noninvasive way. Usually, imaging devices like Synthetic Aperture Radars (SARs) and Ground-Penetrating Radars (GPRs) use expensive dedicated electronics which results in prohibitive prices. This paper presents the experimental implementation and the results obtained from an imaging system capable of performing SAR imaging and interferometric displacement mapping of targets located behind walls, as well as 3D GPR imaging using a low-cost general-purpose radar sensor. The proposed solution uses for the RF section of the system a K-band microwave radar sensor module implementing Frequency-Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) operation. The low-cost sensor was originally intended for simple presence detection and ranging for domestic applications. The proposed system was tested in several scenarios and proved to operate as intended for a fraction of the cost of a commercial imaging device. In one scenario, it was able to detect and locate a 15 cm-diameter fire-extinguisher located at a distance of 3.5 m from the scanning system and 1.6 m behind a 3 cm-thick MDF (medium-density fiberboard) wall with cm-level accuracy. In a second test, the proposed system was used to perform interferometric displacement measurements, and it was capable of determining the displacement of a metal case with sub-millimeter accuracy. In this paper, we propose an innovative approach for transforming 2D human pose estimation into 3D models using Single Input–Single Output (SISO) Ultra-Wideband (UWB) radar technology. This method addresses the significant challenge of reconstructing 3D human poses from 1D radar signals, a task traditionally hindered by low spatial resolution and complex inverse problems. The difficulty is further exacerbated by the ambiguity in 3D pose reconstruction, as multiple 3D poses may correspond to similar 2D projections. Our solution, termed the Radar PoseLifter network, leverages the micro-Doppler signatures inherent in 1D radar echoes to effectively convert 2D pose information into 3D structures. The network is specifically designed to handle the long-range dependencies present in sequences of 2D poses. It employs a fully convolutional architecture, enhanced with a dilated temporal convolutions network, for efficient data processing. We rigorously evaluated the Radar PoseLifter network using the HPSUR dataset, which includes a diverse range of human movements. This dataset comprises data from five individuals with varying physical characteristics, performing a variety of actions. Our experimental results demonstrate the method's robustness and accuracy in estimating complex human poses, highlighting its effectiveness. This research contributes significantly to the advancement of human motion capture using radar technology. It presents a viable solution for applications where precision and reliability in motion capture are paramount. In this paper, the possibility of improving target detection performance in passive bistatic radar by exploiting a frequency agile (FA) signal is investigated, namely frequency agile signal-based passive bistatic radar (FAPBR) coherent integration. Since the carrier frequency of each pulse signal is agile, FAPBR coherent integration suffers from the problems of random range and Doppler phase fluctuations. To tackle these challenges, a novel FA signal coherent integration target detection scheme for PBR is proposed. In particular, the phase quadratic difference principle is presented for eliminating Doppler phase hopping. Then, frequency rearrangement is adopted to compensate for random range phase fluctuation while obtaining the high-range-resolution profiles (HRRPs) of the detecting target. Further, we innovatively present a sliding-range ambiguity decoupling (S-RAD) method to remove the range ambiguity effect in the case of the high pulse repetition frequency (HPRF). Compared with the existing methods, the proposed method can effectively mitigate Doppler phase hopping without requiring prior target velocity information, offering improved coherent integration performance in frequency agile signals with reduced computational complexity. Moreover, it successfully corrects the range ambiguity issue caused by HPRF. Finally, a series of simulation results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. This work, written for engineers or managers with no special knowledge of quantum mechanics, nor deep experience in radar, aims to help the scientific, industrial, and governmental community to better understand the basic limitations of proposed microwave quantum radar (QR) technologies and systems. Detection and ranging capabilities for QR are critically discussed and a comparison with its closest classical radar (CR), i.e., the noise radar (NR), is presented. In particular, it is investigated whether a future fielded and operating QR system might really outperform an "equivalent" classical radar, or not. The main result of this work, coherently with the recent literature, is that the maximum range of a QR for typical aircraft targets is intrinsically limited to less than one km, and in most cases to some tens of meters. Detailed computations show that the detection performance of all the proposed QR types are orders of magnitude below the ones of any much simpler and cheaper equivalent "classical" radar set, in particular of the noise radar type. These limitations do not apply to very-short-range microwave applications, such as microwave tomography and radar monitoring of heart and breathing activity of people (where other figures, such as cost, size, weight, and power, shall be taken into account). A novel image-reconstruction method is proposed for the processing of data acquired at random spatial positions. The images are reconstructed and updated in real time concurrently with the measurements to produce an evolving image, the quality of which is continuously improving and converging as the number of data points increases with the stream of additional measurements. It is shown that the images converge to those obtained with data acquired on a uniformly sampled surface, where the sampling density satisfies the Nyquist limit. The image reconstruction employs a new formulation of the method of scattered power mapping (SPM), which first maps the data into a three-dimensional (3D) preliminary image of the target on a uniform spatial grid, followed by fast Fourier space image deconvolution that provides the high-quality 3D image. The Doppler band compensated by the keystone transform (KT) is limited. Therefore, it needs to be used in conjunction with the Doppler ambiguity compensation function to correct the range migration (RM) caused by maneuvering targets with Doppler ambiguity. However, the KT implemented by sinc interpolation suffers from significant performance loss at boundaries of compensation Doppler bands. Additionally, in a multi-target scenario, KT implementation methods occupy high complexity when the Doppler range of targets spans over two compensation Doppler bands. To address the aforementioned issues, this study presents a variable Doppler starting point keystone transform (VDSPKT) method, where a new form of ambiguity compensation function is constructed, turning the Doppler starting point of the compensation band in KT variable. Firstly, the position of the compensation Doppler band is changed from fixed to adjustable as needed, enhancing the flexibility of KT. Crucially, the connection points of the compensation Doppler bands in sinc interpolation are reset, avoiding performance loss at their boundaries. Also, the compensation band is adjusted to cover the narrow Doppler frequency range caused by targets, significantly improving computational efficiency. Finally, the simulation and real data experiments demonstrate that the proposed approach effectively addresses the performance degradation and high computational complexity of KT in the aforementioned scenarios, resulting in a computational load reduced by approximately 50% compared to traditional methods. In this paper, to track maneuvering unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) in scenarios with clutter, we propose a novel method based on the probabilistic data association (PDA) algorithm and Rao-Blackwellized particle filter (RBPF) algorithm, and we further improve the tracking performance by Max-Q criterion-based waveform selection. This work develops a maneuvering target model in the context of clutter, integrating linear and nonlinear states as well as observations with false alarms. In order to jointly tackle the mixed-state tracking problem, the PDA algorithm is integrated into the RBPF framework. This allows it to be used with the complex nonlinear and linear hybrid system and helps to minimize the state dimensions of conventional particle filtering (PF). Additionally, by utilizing Q-learning principles, we provide a Max-Q-based criterion to select the waveform parameters, which guarantees low measurement errors and efficiently handles measurement uncertainties. Our simulation results show that the PDA-RBPF algorithm, which has a more appropriate tracking mechanism, produces results that are more accurate than those of the EKF or PF algorithms alone. Furthermore, the RMSE derived by the Max-Q-based criterion is smaller and more robust than that of other selection methods, as well as yielding a fixed waveform. The significant differences in data domains between SAR images and the expensive and time-consuming process of data labeling pose significant challenges to terrain classification. Current terrain classification methodologies face challenges in addressing domain disparities and detecting uncommon terrain effectively. Based on Style Transformation and Domain Metrics (STDMs), we propose an unsupervised domain adaptive framework named STDM-UDA for terrain classification in this paper, which consists of two steps: image style transfer and domain adaptive segmentation. As a first step, image style transfer is performed within the image space to mitigate the differences in low-level features between SAR image domains. Subsequently, leveraging this process, the segmentation network extracts image features, employing domain metrics and adversarial training to enhance alignment between domain gaps in the semantic feature space. Finally, experiments conducted on several pairs of SAR images, each exhibiting varying degrees of differences in key imaging parameters such as source, resolution, band, and polarization, demonstrate the robustness of the proposed method. In this study, we present a novel approach for the real-time detection of high-speed moving objects with rapidly changing velocities using a high-resolution millimeter-wave (MMW) radar operating at 94 GHz in the W-band. Our detection methodology leverages continuous wave transmission and heterodyning of the reflected signal from the moving target, enabling the extraction of motion-related attributes such as velocity, position, and physical characteristics of the object. The use of a 94 GHz carrier frequency allows for high-resolution velocity detection with a velocity resolution of 6.38 m/s, achieved using a short integration time of 0.25 ms. This high-frequency operation also results in minimal atmospheric absorption, further enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the detection process. The proposed system utilizes cost-effective and less complex equipment, including compact antennas, made possible by the low sampling rate required for processing the intermediate frequency signal. SAR imagery plays a crucial role in geological and environmental monitoring, particularly in highland mountainous regions. However, inherent geometric distortions in SAR images often undermine the precision of remote sensing analyses. Accurately identifying and classifying these distortions is key to analyzing their origins and enhancing the quality and accuracy of monitoring efforts. While the layover and shadow map (LSM) approach is commonly utilized to identify distortions, it falls short in classifying subtle ones. This study introduces a novel LSM ground-range slope (LG) method, tailored for the refined identification of minor distortions to augment the LSM approach. We implemented the LG method on Sentinel-1 SAR imagery from the tri-junction area where the Xiaojiang, Pudu, and Jinsha rivers converge at the Yunnan-Sichuan border. By comparing effective monitoring-point densities, we evaluated and validated traditional methods—LSM, R-Index, and P-NG—against the LG method. The LG method demonstrates superior performance in discriminating subtle distortions within complex terrains through its secondary classification process, which allows for precise and comprehensive recognition of geometric distortions. Furthermore, our research examines the impact of varying slope parameters during the classification process on the accuracy of distortion identification. Quasi-continuous wave radar is an attempt to give consideration to the performance of pulse and continuous wave radar signals. However, it also has the shortcomings of both. This paper aims to add a new quasi-continuous-wave coding method to the spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) system. The technology of improving spaceborne SAR imaging performance by coding quasi-continuous-wave pulses is studied, and some shortcomings of this algorithm are improved. Firstly, the application of quasi-continuous-wave radar in the SAR system is studied, and the coding and reconstruction scheme is provided so that this technology can be successfully applied in spaceborne SAR. Secondly, the effects of different quasi-continuous-wave coding methods on SAR imaging performance are evaluated, including signal-to-noise ratio, resolution, and integration time. Then, several coding schemes are given, and the characteristic changes of the signal after quasi-continuous-wave coding are analyzed. The transmit–receive conversion loss function and azimuth Doppler ambiguity function of the design scheme are analyzed, which proves the advantages of the scheme. The design and optimization of sensor array configurations is a significant challenge for distributed SAR-GMTI radar systems because the system performance of distributed array radar is a comprehensive result of several conflicting evaluation indicators. This paper developed a multi-objective intelligent optimization method to solve the global optimal problem of array configurations in terms of achieving optimal GMTI performance. Firstly, to formulate the relationship between array configuration and GMTI performance, we established three objective functions derived from evaluating indicators of SAR-GMTI performance. Specifically, in the objective functions, we proposed a novel clutter covariance matrix model that added several typical non-ideal factors of the real-world detection environment. This provides a way to build a bridge between the array configuration, environment clutter, and GMTI performance. Then, we proposed an improved multi-objective snake optimization algorithm (IMOSOA) that combined the Pareto optimization mechanism with snake optimization to solve the multi-objective optimization problem while reconciling the conflicts between different objective functions. Meanwhile, some significant improvements were made to speed up convergence. That is, tent chaotic mapping-based initialization, multi-group coevolution, and individual mutation strategies were applied to solve the non-convergence problem of global searching. Finally, in the case of an airborne SAR-GMTI system, numerical experiments demonstrated that the proposed IMOSOA has superior performance than other contrast methods, especially in terms of GMTI applications. In smart transportation, assisted driving relies on data integration from various sensors, notably LiDAR and cameras. However, their optical performance can degrade under adverse weather conditions, potentially compromising vehicle safety. Millimeter-wave radar, which can overcome these issues more economically, has been re-evaluated. Despite this, developing an accurate detection model is challenging due to significant noise interference and limited semantic information. To address these practical challenges, this paper presents the TC–Radar model, a novel approach that synergistically integrates the strengths of transformer and the convolutional neural network (CNN) to optimize the sensing potential of millimeter-wave radar in smart transportation systems. The rationale for this integration lies in the complementary nature of CNNs, which are adept at capturing local spatial features, and transformers, which excel at modeling long-range dependencies and global context within data. This hybrid approach allows for a more robust and accurate representation of radar signals, leading to enhanced detection performance. A key innovation of our approach is the introduction of the Cross-Attention (CA) module, which facilitates efficient and dynamic information exchange between the encoder and decoder stages of the network. This CA mechanism ensures that critical features are accurately captured and transferred, thereby significantly improving the overall network performance. In addition, the model contains the dense information fusion block (DIFB) to further enrich the feature representation by integrating different high-frequency local features. This integration process ensures thorough incorporation of key data points. The prevalence of Low Probability of Interception (LPI) and Low Probability of Exploitation (LPE) radars in contemporary Electronic Warfare (EW) presents an ongoing challenge to defense mechanisms, compelling constant advances in protective strategies. Noise radars are examples of LPI and LPE systems that gained substantial prominence in the past decade despite exhibiting a common drawback of limited Doppler tolerance. The Advanced Pulse Compression Noise (APCN) waveform is a stochastic radar signal proposed to amalgamate the LPI and LPE attributes of a random waveform with the Doppler tolerance feature inherent to a linear frequency modulation. In the present work, we derive closed-form expressions describing the APCN signal's ambiguity function and spectral containment that allow for a proper analysis of its detection performance and ability to remove range ambiguities as a function of its stochastic parameters. This paper also presents a more detailed address of the LPI/LPE characteristic of APCN signals claimed in previous works. We show that sophisticated Electronic Intelligence (ELINT) systems that employ Time Frequency Analysis (TFA) and image processing methods may intercept APCN and estimate important parameters of APCN waveforms, such as bandwidth, operating frequency, time duration, and pulse repetition interval. We also present a method designed to intercept and exploit the unique characteristics of the APCN waveform. Its performance is evaluated based on the probability of such an ELINT system detecting an APCN radar signal as a function of the Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) in the ELINT system. We evaluated the accuracy and precision of the random variables characterizing the proposed estimators as a function of the SNR. Results indicate a probability of detection close to 1 and show good performance, even for scenarios with a SNR slightly less than − 10 dB. The large quantity of resident space objects orbiting Earth poses a threat to safety and efficient operations in space. Radar sensors are well suited to detecting objects in space including decommissioned satellites and debris, whereas the more commonly used optical sensors are limited by daylight and weather conditions. Observations of three non-operational satellites using a VHF radar system are presented in this paper in the form of micro Doppler signatures associated with rotational motion. Micro Doppler signatures are particularly useful for characterising resident space objects at VHF given the limited bandwidth resulting in poor range resolution. Electromagnetic simulations of the micro Doppler signatures of the defunct satellites are also presented using simple computer-aided design (CAD) models to assist with interpretation of the radar observations. The simulated micro Doppler results are verified using the VHF radar data and provide insight into the attitude and spin axis of the three resident space objects. In the realm of road safety and the evolution toward automated driving, Advanced Driver Assistance and Automated Driving (ADAS/AD) systems play a pivotal role. As the complexity of these systems grows, comprehensive testing becomes imperative, with virtual test environments becoming crucial, especially for handling diverse and challenging scenarios. Radar sensors are integral to ADAS/AD units and are known for their robust performance even in adverse conditions. However, accurately modeling the radar's perception, particularly the radar cross-section (RCS), proves challenging. This paper adopts a data-driven approach, using Gaussian mixture models (GMMs) to model the radar's perception for various vehicles and aspect angles. A Bayesian variational approach automatically infers model complexity. The model is expanded into a comprehensive radar sensor model based on object lists, incorporating occlusion effects and RCS-based detectability decisions. The model's effectiveness is demonstrated through accurate reproduction of the RCS behavior and scatter point distribution. The full capabilities of the sensor model are demonstrated in different scenarios. The flexible and modular framework has proven apt for modeling specific aspects and allows for an easy model extension. The quality of weather radar affects the reliability and effectiveness of monitoring severe convective weather. Therefore, rigorous calibration and validation are the foundation for the quantitative application of weather radar. Among the available methods, radial velocity validation is of great significance for reducing the false alarm rate in the identification of tornadoes and thunderstorms. Based on the traditional method that utilizes internal and external instrument radar velocity measurements, we propose a weather radar radial velocity validation method that uses RTK UAV to simulate external targets. In addition, according to the characteristics of the UAV application scenarios, we introduce the evaluation parameter of optimal absolute accuracy to supplement the original parametric system. The experimental results show that the evaluation parameter of optimal absolute accuracy can effectively reduce the interference caused by the systematic deviation of the UAV due to the internal and external environment, which can affect the validation results. When the UAV velocity is not greater than 10 m/s, the optimal absolute accuracy of the radial velocity validation is less than 0.05 m/s, which is essentially consistent with the external instruments' measurement results. This method can be effectively applied to the procedural handling of weather radar radial velocity validation. Radar emitter signal sorting (RESS) is a crucial process in contemporary electronic battlefield situation awareness. Separating pulses belonging to the same radar emitter from interleaved radar pulse sequences with a lack of prior information, high density, strong overlap, and wide parameter distribution has attracted increasing attention. In order to improve the accuracy of RESS under scenarios with limited labeled samples, this paper proposes an RESS model called TR-RAGCN-AFF-RESS. This model transforms the RESS problem into a pulse-by-pulse classification task. Firstly, a novel weighted adjacency matrix construction method was proposed to characterize the structural relationships between pulse attribute parameters more accurately. Building upon this foundation, two networks were developed: a Transformer(TR)-based interleaved pulse sequence temporal feature extraction network and a residual attention graph convolutional network (RAGCN) for extracting the structural relationship features of attribute parameters. Finally, the attention feature fusion (AFF) algorithm was introduced to fully integrate the temporal features and attribute parameter structure relationship features, enhancing the richness of feature representation for the original pulses and achieving more accurate sorting results. Compared to existing deep learning-based RESS algorithms, this method does not require many labeled samples for training, making it better suited for scenarios with limited labeled sample availability. Experimental results and analysis confirm that even with only 10% of the training samples, this method achieves a sorting accuracy exceeding 93.91%, demonstrating high robustness against measurement errors, lost pulses, and spurious pulses in non-ideal conditions. This paper proposed a single-layer checkerboard metasurface with simultaneous wideband radar cross-section (RCS) reduction characteristics and low infrared (IR) emissivity. The metasurface consists of an indium tin oxide (ITO)-patterned film, a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate and an ITO backplane from the top downwards, with a total ultra-thin thickness of 1.6 mm. This design also allows the metasurface to have good optical transparency and flexibility. Based on phase cancellation and absorption, the metasurface can achieve a wideband RCS reduction of 10 dB from 10.6 to 19.4 GHz under normal incidence. When the metasurface is slightly cylindrically curved, an RCS reduction of approximately 10 dB can still be achieved from 11 to 19 GHz. The polarization and angular stability of the metasurface have also been verified. The filling rate of the top ITO-patterned film is 0.81, which makes the metasurface have a low theoretical IR emissivity of 0.24. Both simulation and experimental results have verified the excellent characteristics of the proposed checkerboard metasurface, demonstrating its great potential application in radar–IR bi-stealth. In this study, the nowcast models provided by the Python pySTEPS library were evaluated using radar derived rain rate data and the satellite product Split-Window Difference (SWD) based on GOES-16 data, focusing on central Mexico. Initially, we obtained a characterization of the rainfall that occurred in the region using the radar rain rate and the SWD. Subsequently the nowcasts were evaluated using both variables. Two nowcast models were employed from pySTEPS: Extrapolation and S-PROG. The results indicate that average SWD is below 2.5 K, 90 min before the onset of rainfall events, and, on average, the SWD is 2 K during rainfall events. The results from both nowcast models were accurate and produced similar results. The nowcasts performed better when SWD data were used as input, having an average Probability of Detection (PoD) above 70% and a False Alarm Rate (FAR) reaching 40% for the 15-min prediction. The nowcasts were less accurate using the radar rain rate as input for the 15-min forecast, where the PoD was maximum 70% and FAR reaching 40%. However, these nowcasts were more reliable during well-organized precipitation events. In this work, it was determined that the nowcast models provided by pySTEPS can provide valuable rain forecasts using GOES-16 satellite and radar data for the central Mexico region. Space–time adaptive processing (STAP) based on sparse recovery achieves excellent clutter suppression and target detection performance, even with a limited number of available training samples. However, most of these methods face performance degradation due to grid mismatch, which impedes their application in bistatic clutter suppression. Some gridless methods, such as atomic norm minimization (ANM), can effectively address grid mismatch issues, yet they are sensitive to parameter settings and array errors. In this article, the authors propose a data and model-driven algorithm that unfolds the iterative process of atomic norm minimization into a deep network. This approach establishes a concrete and systematic link between iterative algorithms, extensively utilized in signal processing, and deep neural networks. This methodology not only addresses the challenges associated with parameter settings in traditional optimization algorithms, but also mitigates the lack of interpretability issues commonly found in deep neural networks. Moreover, due to more rational parameter settings, the proposed algorithm achieves effective clutter suppression with fewer iterations, thereby reducing computational time. Multichannel radars generally need to utilize a certain amount of training samples to estimate the covariance matrix of clutter for target detection. Due to factors such as severe terrain fluctuations and complex electromagnetic environments, the training samples usually have different statistical characteristics from the data to be detected. One of the most common scenarios is that all data have the same clutter covariance matrix structure, while different data have different power mismatches, called power heterogeneous characteristics. For detection problems in the power heterogeneous clutter environments, we propose detectors based on alternate estimation, using the generalized likelihood ratio test (GLRT) criterion, Rao criterion, Wald criterion, Gradient criterion, and Durbin criterion. Monte Carlo simulation experiments and real data indicate that the detector based on the Rao criterion has the highest probability of detection (PD). Furthermore, when signal mismatch occurs, the detector based on the GLRT criterion has the best selectivity, while the detector based on the Durbin criterion has the most robust detection performance. Over several decades, high-frequency (HF) radars have been employed for remotely measuring various ocean surface parameters, encompassing surface currents, waves, and winds. Wind direction and speed are usually estimated from both first-order and second-order Bragg-resonant scatter from two or more HF radars monitoring the same area of the ocean surface. This limits the observational domain to the common area where second-order scatter is available from at least two radars. Here, we propose to estimate wind direction and speed from the first-order scatter of a single HF radar, yielding the same spatial coverage as for surface radial currents. Wind direction is estimated using the ratio of the positive and negative first-order Bragg peaks intensity, with a new simple algorithm to remove the left/right directional ambiguity from a single HF radar. Wind speed is estimated from wind direction and de-tided surface radial currents using an artificial neural network which has been trained with in situ wind speed observations. Radar-derived wind estimations are compared with in situ observations in the Lower Saint-Lawrence Estuary (Quebec, Canada). The correlation coefficients between radar-estimated and in situ wind directions range from 0.84 to 0.95 for Wellen Radars (WERAs) and from 0.79 to 0.97 for Coastal Ocean Dynamics Applications Radars (CODARs), while the root mean square differences range from 8° to 12° for WERAs and from 10° to 19° for CODARs. Correlation coefficients between the radar-estimated and the in situ wind speeds range from 0.89 to 0.93 for WERAs and from 0.81 to 0.93 for CODARs, while the root mean square differences range from 1.3 m.s−1 to 2.3 m.s−1 for WERAs and from 1.6 m.s−1 to 3.9 m.s−1 for CODARs. Groundwater resources are crucial to socio-economic development and the ecosystem, and over-extraction can cause the groundwater level to drop, deplete reserves, and trigger geological hazards like land subsidence. The North China Plain (NCP) has experienced both subsidence and groundwater depletion due to over-extraction in the past 70 years. In this study, we used MT-InSAR technology and ascending C-band Sentinel-1 SAR data from 2017 to 2023 to study land deformation in the junction area of Shijiazhuang–Baoding–Cangzhou–Hengshui. We identified multiple subsidence funnels with a maximum rate exceeding −150 mm/year and a total deformation surpassing 600 mm. Seasonal decomposition methods accurately separated seasonal signals in the time-series deformation and groundwater level data. An exponential function model applied to long-term deformation showed no significant decrease in subsidence in severely affected areas. By modeling seasonal deformation and seasonal groundwater levels, we determined the elastic skeletal storage coefficients (Ske) to be in the range of 1.02 × 10−3~6.53 × 10−3 in subsidence areas. We obtained the spatiotemporal evolution of the total groundwater storage (TGWS), irreversible ground storage (IGWS), and recoverable ground storage (RGWS). The TGWS and IGWS decreased annually while the RGWS increased, which is attributable to the implementation of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project (SNWDP) and the issuance of groundwater withdrawal policies in the NCP. This paper deals with adaptive moving target detection for a forward scatter radar in complex Gaussian noise. The echoes received by the forward scatter radar include not only the noise and the possible target signals but also the direct signals. To suppress the direct signals and detect the target signals, Rao and Wald tests are derived in two cases: the secondary data which contain no target signal are available or not available. Different from monostatic radar, it is proved that the derived Rao and Wald detectors for the forward scatter radar have the same test statistics as the generalized likelihood ratio test-based detector in the complex Gaussian noise both when the secondary data are available or not available. In autonomous vehicles, the LiDAR and radar sensors are indispensable components for measuring distances to objects. While deep-learning-based algorithms for LiDAR sensors have been extensively proposed, the same cannot be said for radar sensors. LiDAR and radar share the commonality of measuring distances, but they are used in different environments. LiDAR tends to produce less noisy data and provides precise distance measurements, but it is highly affected by environmental factors like rain and fog. In contrast, radar is less impacted by environmental conditions but tends to generate noisier data. To reduce noise in radar data and enhance radar data augmentation, we propose a LiDAR-to-Radar translation method with a voxel feature extraction module, leveraging the fact that both sensors acquire data in a point-based manner. Because of the translation of high-quality LiDAR data into radar data, this becomes achievable. Millimeter-wave radar and optical cameras are one of the primary sensing combinations for autonomous platforms such as self-driving vehicles and disaster monitoring robots. The millimeter-wave radar odometry can perform self-pose estimation and environmental mapping. However, cumulative errors can arise during extended measurement periods. In particular scenes where loop closure conditions are absent and visual geometric features are discontinuous, existing loop detection methods based on back-end optimization face challenges. To address this issue, this study introduces a correlative scan matching (CSM) pose estimation method that integrates visual and radar line features (VRL-SLAM). By making use of the pose output and the occupied grid map generated by the front end of the millimeter-wave radar's simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM), it compensates for accumulated errors by matching discontinuous visual line features and radar line features. Firstly, a pose estimation framework that integrates visual and radar line features was proposed to reduce the accumulated errors generated by the odometer. Secondly, an adaptive Hough transform line detection method (A-Hough) based on the projection of the prior radar grid map was introduced, eliminating interference from non-matching lines, enhancing the accuracy of line feature matching, and establishing a collection of visual line features. Furthermore, a Gaussian mixture model clustering method based on radar cross-section (RCS) was proposed, reducing the impact of radar clutter points online feature matching. Lastly, actual data from two scenes were collected to compare the algorithm proposed in this study with the CSM algorithm and RI-SLAM.. The conventional back projection (BP) algorithm is an accurate time-domain algorithm widely used for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar imaging, owing to its independence of antenna array configuration. The time-delay curve correction back projection (TCC-BP) algorithm greatly reduces the computational complexity of BP but suffers from spatial-variant correction, sidelobe interference and background noise due to the use of coherent superposition of echo time-delay curves. In this article, a residual attention U-Net-based (RAU-Net) MIMO radar imaging method that adapts complex noisy scenarios with spatial variation and sidelobe interference is proposed. On the basis of the U-Net underlying structure, we develop the RAU-Net with two modules: a residual unit with identity mapping and a dual attention module to obtain resolution spatial-variant correction and denoising on real-world MIMO radar images. The network realizes MIMO radar imaging based on the TCC-BP algorithm and substantially reduces the total computational time of the BP algorithm on the basis of improving the imaging resolution and denoising capability. Weather radars play a crucial role in the monitoring of severe convective weather. However, due to their limited detection range, they cannot conduct an effective monitoring in remote offshore areas. Therefore, this paper utilized UNet++ to establish a model for retrieving radar composite reflectivity based on Himawari-9 satellite datasets. In the process of comparative analysis, we found that both satellite and radar data exhibited significant diurnal cycles, but there were notable differences in their variation characteristics. To address this, we established four comparative models to test the influence of latitude and diurnal cycles on the inversion results. The results showed that adding the distribution map of the minimum brightness temperature at the corresponding time in the model could effectively improve the model's performance in both spatial and temporal dimensions, reduce the root-mean-square error (RMSE) of the model, and enhance the accuracy of severe convective weather monitoring. There is growing demand for the high-fidelity characterization of satellites in Geosynchronous Earth Orbit (GEO) to support Space Domain Awareness (SDA). This is particularly true for newly launched satellites, where it is necessary for satellite providers to ascertain whether components have deployed properly. Conventional wideband radar systems are capable of imaging satellites provided that (i) they have sufficient power aperture and bandwidth, and (ii) they observe enough target aspect change to generate a resolved image. While wideband radars are used routinely for characterizing satellites in Low-Earth Orbit (LEO), powerful radars with sensitivity sufficient for large GEO ranges (36,000 km or greater) are lacking. Thus, researchers often rely on more widely available high-power narrowband tracking radars for GEO characterization. In this paper, we present a novel range-Doppler-time (RDT) tensor processing technique for GEO characterization with narrowband radar. This technique encapsulates the strengths of previously proposed methods for narrowband-radar characterization at GEO, providing a generalized approach that can be applied in a variety of settings. The technique generates fully resolved 2D images of rotating GEO satellites in low-bandwidth scenarios. In cases where aspect change is limited, the technique provides detailed Doppler information for enhanced satellite status monitoring. This work presents a comprehensive quantitative analysis of the technique that considers the impact of key parameters on characterization performance. The potential of microwave Doppler radar in non-contact vital sign detection is significant; however, prevailing radar-based heart rate (HR) and heart rate variability (HRV) monitoring technologies often necessitate data lengths surpassing 10 s, leading to increased detection latency and inaccurate HRV estimates. To address this problem, this paper introduces a novel network integrating a frequency representation module and a residual in residual module for the precise estimation and tracking of HR from concise time series, followed by HRV monitoring. The network adeptly transforms radar signals from the time domain to the frequency domain, yielding high-resolution spectrum representation within specified frequency intervals. This significantly reduces latency and improves HRV estimation accuracy by using data that are only 4 s in length. This study uses simulation data, Frequency-Modulated Continuous-Wave radar-measured data, and Continuous-Wave radar data to validate the model. Experimental results show that despite the shortened data length, the average heart rate measurement accuracy of the algorithm remains above 95% with no loss of estimation accuracy. This study contributes an efficient heart rate variability estimation algorithm to the domain of non-contact vital sign detection, offering significant practical application value. Traditional synthetic-aperture radar (SAR) imaging, while adept at capturing stationary scenes with clarity, often results in the blurring of moving targets due to Doppler spectrum disparities. To overcome this, this study introduces an innovative optical approach for imaging moving targets. By employing a spatial light modulator (SLM), the phase information of SAR data can be modulated onto a light beam. Then, the light propagation path is meticulously designed to take advantage of the free propagation of light to compensate for the phase differences in SAR data, thereby achieving focal clarity. Simulations and experimental validations have demonstrated that this method surpasses traditional digital imaging techniques in terms of focusing precision. Additionally, the processing delay is only as long as the time taken for light propagation. The optical path is simple, avoiding complex assembly and alignment. Tidal flats are some of the most dynamic coastal environments in the world, where traditional coastal mapping and monitoring provide insufficient temporal resolution to reliably map channels and sand flats. Satellite-based Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) enables regular cloud-penetrating detection of water flowing through channels within the tidal flats, referred to as tidal channels. This paper presents a method for detecting a path through tidal channels, using satellite imagery, that supports our understanding and safe exploitation of this valuable coastal environment. This approach is the first proposed to identify navigable paths in all conditions, with SAR images susceptible to variation due to weather and tidal conditions. Tidal channels are known to vary in SAR presentation, and we find that tidal flat presentation is also influenced by conditions. The most influential factor is the wind, with high winds causing an inversion in how both tidal flats and tidal channels present in SAR images. The presented method for the automatic detection of tidal channels accounts for this variability by using previous channel paths as a reference to reliably correct imagery and detect the latest path. The final algorithm produces paths with minor errors in 17.6% of images; the error rate increases to 71.7%, with an almost tenfold increase in errors, when the SAR image and paths are not adjusted to account for conditions. This capability has been used to support the Nith Inshore Rescue in attending call-outs from their base in Glencaple, UK, while the insights from monitoring tidal channels for a year demonstrate how periods of high river flow preceded major changes in the channel path. Ground-penetrating radar (GPR) is a classic geophysical exploration method that utilizes the emission and reception of electromagnetic waves to non-destructively detect target objects in the target medium. It has been widely applied in various fields such as pipeline detection, cavity detection, and rebar detection. However, GPR systems are susceptible to environmental clutter interference, which poses challenges for data interpretation and subsequent processing. In this paper, the separability of clutter and target signal in the frequency-wavenumber (F-K) domain is validated through modeling, leading to the proposal of a comprehensive clutter removal method based on the F-K domain for complex scenarios. The direct coupling wave is initially eliminated by applying a peak matching mean subtraction filter, which avoids the artifacts. Subsequently, the F-K domain transformation is performed and surface clutter undulations are effectively removed using a method based on singular value decomposition and k-means clustering. Finally, an angle filter with Gaussian tapering at the edges is designed based on physical models to efficiently eliminate linear interference without undesired ringing interference. The commonly used clutter removal algorithms, including mean subtraction (MS), singular value decomposition (SVD), robust principal component analysis (RPCA), and traditional F-K filtering methods, are compared with the proposed algorithm on both the numerical simulated data and actual GPR data. The results from visual and quantitative analysis confirm that our proposed method is more effective than current commonly used clutter suppression algorithms. We have successfully enhanced the Signal-to-Clutter Ratio (SCR) of the GPR data, resulting in an Improvement Factor (IF) of 30.63 dB, 23.59 dB, and 30.60 dB for simulated data, experimental data, and TU1208 public data, respectively. Detecting multiple human targets in indoor scenarios using ultra-wideband (UWB) radar usually involves false detection results caused by the secondary reflections, which might reduce the target detection accuracy and cause a more severe deterioration when the number of targets increases. This article proposed a two-step accuracy improvement method for multitarget detection in environments with multiple human targets of more than three and strong secondary reflections by the surroundings, especially the walls. Based on the rough detection results acquired by the modified CA-CFAR (MCA-CFAR) processing, the first step achieves the primary false alarm suppression using a short-window accumulation in the time domain. Then, the second step applies the decision confidence on the detection results from the first step to assess the reliability of results for improved accuracy. The two-step accuracy improvement could thus have a higher accuracy through cascading false alarm suppression. Optimizing jamming strategies is crucial for enhancing the performance of cognitive jamming systems in dynamic electromagnetic environments. The emergence of frequency-agile radars, capable of changing the carrier frequency within or between pulses, poses significant challenges for the jammer to make intelligent decisions and adapt to the dynamic environment. This paper focuses on researching intelligent jamming decision-making algorithms for Intra-Pulse Frequency Agile Radar using deep reinforcement learning. Intra-Pulse Frequency Agile Radar achieves frequency agility at the sub-pulse level, creating a significant frequency agility space. This presents challenges for traditional jamming decision-making methods to rapidly learn its changing patterns through interactions. By employing Gated Recurrent Units (GRU) to capture long-term dependencies in sequence data, together with the attention mechanism, this paper proposes a GA-Dueling DQN (GRU-Attention-based Dueling Deep Q Network) method for jamming frequency selection. Simulation results indicate that the proposed method outperforms traditional Q-learning, DQN, and Dueling DQN methods in terms of jamming effectiveness. RADARs and cameras have been present in automotives since the advent of ADAS, as they possess complementary strengths and weaknesses but have been underlooked in the context of learning-based methods. In this work, we propose a method to perform object detection in autonomous driving based on a geometrical and sequential sensor fusion of 3+1D RADAR and semantics extracted from camera data through point cloud painting from the perspective view. To achieve this objective, we adapt PointPainting from the LiDAR and camera domains to the sensors mentioned above. We first apply YOLOv8-seg to obtain instance segmentation masks and project their results to the point cloud. As a refinement stage, we design a set of heuristic rules to minimize the propagation of errors from the segmentation to the detection stage. Our pipeline concludes by applying PointPillars as an object detection network to the painted RADAR point cloud. We validate our approach in the novel View of Delft dataset, which includes 3+1D RADAR data sequences in urban environments. Experimental results show that this fusion is also suitable for RADAR and cameras as we obtain a significant improvement over the RADAR-only baseline, increasing mAP from 41.18 to 52.67 (+27.9%).
