In recent years, with the miniaturization of high-precision position and orientation systems (POS), precise motion errors during SAR data collection can be calculated based on high-precision POS. However, compensating for these errors remains a significant challenge for multi-rotor UAV-borne SAR systems. Compared with large aircrafts, multi-rotor UAVs are lighter, slower, have more complex flight trajectories, and have larger squint angles, which result in significant differences in motion errors between building targets and ground targets. If the motion compensation is based on ground elevation, the motion error of the ground target will be fully compensated, but the building target will still have a large residual error; as a result, although the ground targets can be well-focused, the building targets may be severely defocused. Therefore, it is necessary to further compensate for the residual motion error of building targets based on the actual elevation on the SAR image. However, uncompensated errors will affect the time–frequency relationship; furthermore, the ω-k algorithm will further change these errors, resulting in errors in SAR images becoming even more complex and difficult to compensate for. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a novel improved precise topography and aperture-dependent (PTA) method that can precisely compensate for motion errors in the UAV-borne SAR system. After motion compensation and imaging processing based on ground elevation, a secondary focus is applied to defocused buildings. The improved PTA fully considers the coupling of the residual error with the time–frequency relationship and ω-k algorithm, and the precise errors in the two-dimensional frequency domain are determined through numerical calculations without any approximations. Interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) and tomographic SAR measurement techniques are commonly used for the three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of complex areas, while the effectiveness of these methods relies on the interferometric coherence among SAR images with minimal angular disparities. Radargrammetry exploits stereo image matching to determine the spatial coordinates of corresponding points in two SAR images and acquire their 3D properties. The performance of the image matching process directly impacts the quality of the resulting digital surface model (DSM). However, the presence of speckle noise, along with dissimilar geometric and radiometric distortions, poses considerable challenges in achieving accurate stereo SAR image matching. To address these aforementioned challenges, this paper proposes a radargrammetric method based on the composite registration of multi-aspect SAR images. The proposed method combines coarse registration using scale invariant feature transform (SIFT) with precise registration using normalized cross-correlation (NCC) to achieve accurate registration between multi-aspect SAR images with large disparities. Furthermore, the multi-aspect 3D point clouds are merged using the proposed radargrammetric 3D imaging method, resulting in the 3D imaging of target scenes based on multi-aspect SAR images. For validation purposes, this paper presents a comprehensive 3D reconstruction of the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST) using Ka-band airborne SAR images. It does not necessitate prior knowledge of the target and is applicable to the detailed 3D imaging of large-scale areas with complex structures. High-resolution and high-squint spaceborne spotlight synthetic aperture radar (SAR) has significant potential for extensive application in remote sensing, but its swath width effectiveness is constrained by a critical factor: severe range cell migration (RCM). To address this, pulse repetition interval (PRI) variation offers a practical scheme for raw data reception. However, the current designs for continuously varying PRI (CV-PRI) exhibit high complexity in engineering. In response to the issue, this paper proposes a novel strategy of stepwise varying PRI (SV-PRI), which demonstrates higher reconstruction accuracy compared with CV-PRI. Furthermore, confronting the azimuth non-uniform sampling characteristics induced by the PRI variation, this paper introduces a complete uniform reconstruction processing based on the azimuth partitioning methodology, which effectively alleviates the inherent contradiction between resolution and swath width. The processing flow, utilizing the temporal point remapping (TPR) concept, ensures the uniformity and coherence of dataset partitioning and reassembly in the context of the interpolation on non-uniform grids. Near-range radar imaging (NRRI) has evolved into a vital technology with diverse applications spanning fields such as remote sensing, surveillance, medical imaging and non-destructive testing. The Pseudopolar Format Matrix (PFM) has emerged as a promising technique for representing radar data in a compact and efficient manner. In this paper, we present a comprehensive PFM description of near-range radar imaging. Furthermore, this paper also explores the integration of the Fractional Fourier Transform (FrFT) with PFM for enhanced radar signal analysis. The FrFT—a powerful mathematical tool for signal processing—offers unique capabilities in analysing signals with time-frequency localization properties. By combining FrFT with PFM, we have achieved significant advancements in radar imaging, particularly in dealing with complex clutter environments and improving target detection accuracy. Meanwhile, this paper highlights the imaging matrix form of FrFT under the PFM, emphasizing the potential for addressing challenges encountered in near-range radar imaging. Finally, numerical simulation and real-world scenario measurement imaging results verify optimized accuracy and computational efficiency with the fusion of PFM and FrFT techniques, paving the way for further innovations in near-range radar imaging applications. In recent years, deep learning has found widespread application in SAR image object detection. However, when detecting multi-scale targets against complex backgrounds, these models often struggle to strike a balance between accuracy and speed. Furthermore, there is a continuous need to enhance the performance of current models. Hence, this paper proposes LRMSNet, a new multi-scale target detection model designed specifically for SAR images in complex backgrounds. Firstly, the paper introduces an attention module designed to enhance contextual information aggregation and capture global features, which is integrated into a backbone network with an expanded receptive field for improving SAR image feature extraction. Secondly, this paper develops an information aggregation module to effectively fuse different feature layers of the backbone network. Lastly, to better integrate feature information at various levels, this paper designs a multi-scale aggregation network. We validate the effectiveness of our method on three different SAR object detection datasets (MSAR-1.0, SSDD, and HRSID). Experimental results demonstrate that LRMSNet achieves outstanding performance with a mean average accuracy (mAP) of 95.2%, 98.9%, and 93.3% on the MSAR-1.0, SSDD, and HRSID datasets, respectively, with only 3.46 M parameters and 12.6 G floating-point operation cost (FLOPs). When compared with existing SAR object detection models on the MSAR-1.0 dataset, LRMSNet achieves state-of-the-art (SOTA) performance, showcasing its superiority in addressing SAR detection challenges in large-scale complex environments and across various object scales. The airborne and satellite-based synthetic aperture radar enables the acquisition of high-resolution SAR oceanographic images in which even the outlines of ships can be identified. The detection of ship targets from SAR images has a wide range of applications. Due to the density of ships in SAR images, the extreme imbalance between foreground and background clutter, and the diversity of target sizes, achieving lightweight and highly accurate multi-scale ship target detection remains a great challenge. To this end, this paper proposed an attention mechanism for multi-scale receptive fields convolution block (AMMRF). AMMRF not only makes full use of the location information of the feature map to accurately capture the regions in the feature map that are useful for detection results, but also effectively captures the relationship between the feature map channels, so as to better learn the relationship between the ship and the background. Based on this, a new YOLOv7-based ship target detection method, You Only Look Once SAR Ship Identification (YOLO-SARSI), was proposed, which acquires the abstract semantic information extracted from the high-level convolution while retaining the detailed semantic information extracted from the low-level convolution. Compared to the deep learning detection methods proposed by previous authors, our method is more lightweight, only 18.43 M. We examined the effectiveness of our method on two SAR image public datasets: the High-Resolution SAR Images Dataset (HRSID) and the Large-Scale SAR Ship Detection Dataset-v1.0 (LS-SSDD-V1.0). As the electromagnetic environment becomes increasingly complex, a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) system with wideband active transmission and reception is vulnerable to interference from devices at the same frequency. SAR interference detection using the transform domain has become a research hotspot in recent years. However, existing transform domain interference detection methods exhibit unsatisfactory performance in complex interference environments. Moreover, most of them rely on label information, while existing publicly available interference datasets are limited. To solve these problems, this paper proposes an SAR unsupervised interference detection model that combines Canny edge detection with vision transformer (CEVIT). Using a time–frequency spectrogram as input, CEVIT realizes interference detection in complex interference environments with multi-interference and multiple types of interference by means of a feature extraction module and a detection head module. To validate the performance of the proposed model, experiments are conducted on airborne SAR interference simulation data and Sentinel-1 real interference data. The experimental results show that, compared with the other object detection models, CEVIT has the best interference detection performance in a complex interference environment, and the key evaluation indexes (e.g., Recall and F1-score) are improved by nearly 20%. The detection results on the real interfered echo data have a Recall that reaches 0.8722 and an F1-score that reaches 0.9115, which are much better than those of the compared methods, and the results also indicate that the proposed model achieves good detection performance with a fast detection speed in complex interference environments, which has certain practical application value in the interference detection problem of the SAR system. Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image registration is an important process in many applications, such as image stitching and remote sensing surveillance. The registration accuracy is commonly affected by the presence of speckle noise in SAR images. When speckle noise is intense, the number of image features acquired by single-feature-based methods is insufficient. An SAR image registration method that combines nonlinear diffusion filtering, Hessian features and edge points is proposed in this paper to reduce speckle noise and obtain more image features. The proposed method uses the infinite symmetric exponential filter (ISEF) for image pre-processing and nonlinear diffusion filtering for scale-space construction. These measures can remove speckle noise from SAR images while preserving image edges. Hessian features and edge points are also employed as image features to optimize the utilization of feature information. Experiments with different noise levels, geometric transformations and image scenes demonstrate that the proposed method effectively improves the accuracy of SAR image registration compared with the SIFT-OCT, SAR-SIFT, Harris-SIFT, NF-Hessian and KAZE-SAR algorithms. SAR (synthetic aperture radar) ship detection is a hot topic due to the breadth of its application. However, limited by the volume of the SAR image, the generalization ability of the detector is low, which makes it difficult to adapt to new scenes. Although many data augmentation methods—for example, clipping, pasting, and mixing—are used, the accuracy is improved little. In order to solve this problem, the adversarial training is used for data generation in this paper. Perturbation is added to the SAR image to generate new samples for training, and it can make the detector learn more abundant features and promote the robustness of the detector. By separating batch normalization between clean samples and disturbed images, the performance degradation on clean samples is avoided. By simultaneously perturbing and selecting large losses of classification and location, it can keep the detector adaptable to more confrontational samples. The optimization efficiency and results are improved through K-step average perturbation and one-step gradient descent. The experiments on different detectors show that the proposed method achieves 8%, 10%, and 17% AP (Average Precision) improvement on the SSDD, SAR-Ship-Dataset, and AIR-SARShip, compared to the traditional data augmentation methods. Detecting aircraft targets in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images is critical for military and civilian applications. However, due to SAR's special imaging mechanism, aircraft targets often consist of scattering points with large fluctuations in intensity. This often leads to the detector failing to detect weak scattering points. Not only that, previous SAR image aircraft-object-detection models have focused more on detecting and locating targets, with little emphasis on target recognition. This paper proposes a scattering-point-intensity-adaptive detection and recognition network (SADRN). In order to correctly detect the target area, we propose a Self-adaptive Bell-shaped Kernel (SBK) within the detector, which constructs a bell-shaped two-dimensional distribution centered on the target center, making the detection "threshold" for the target decrease from the center towards the periphery, reducing the missed alarms of weak scattering points at the edges of the target. To help the model adapt to multi-scale targets, we propose the FADLA-34 backbone network, aggregating information from feature maps across different scales. We also embed CBAM into the detector, which enhances the attention to the target area in the spatial dimension and strengthens the extraction of useful features in the channel dimension, reducing interference from the complex background clutter on object detection. Furthermore, to integrate detection and recognition, we introduce the multi-task head, which utilizes the three feature maps from the backbone network to generate the detection boxes and categories of the targets. Finally, the SADRN achieves superior detection and recognition performance on the SAR-AIRcraft-1.0, exceeding other mainstream methods. In order to address the problems of range ambiguity and azimuth ambiguity in the wide-swath imaging of synthetic aperture radar (SAR), this paper proposes a multi-beam SAR two-dimensional ambiguity suppression method based on azimuth phase coding (APC). The scheme employs an elevation simultaneous multi-beam transmission system with azimuth under-sampling, transmitting different APC waveforms to various range-ambiguous sub-regions. After receiving the echoes, the azimuth digital beamforming (DBF) is used to separate the APC waveform echoes with multi-order Doppler ambiguity, achieving azimuth reconstruction and range ambiguity suppression simultaneously. Finally, the elevation nulling DBF is used to further suppress range ambiguity and obtain the SAR wide-swath image. The superiority of this scheme is reflected in the following aspects: the azimuth DBF simultaneously suppresses azimuth and range ambiguity, the influence of height fluctuations on the ability to suppress range ambiguity is weakened, the use of elevation nulling DBF further enhances the level of range ambiguity suppression, and different range sub-regions can adopt different range resolutions and working modes. In recent years, the development of neural networks has significantly advanced their application in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) ship target detection for maritime traffic control and ship management. However, traditional neural network architectures are often complex and resource intensive, making them unsuitable for deployment on artificial satellites. To address this issue, this paper proposes a lightweight neural network: the Multi-Scale SAR Ship Detection Network (MSSD-Net). Initially, the MobileOne network module is employed to construct the backbone network for feature extraction from SAR images. Subsequently, a Multi-Scale Coordinate Attention (MSCA) module is designed to enhance the network's capability to process contextual information. This is followed by the integration of features across different scales using an FPN + PAN structure. Lastly, an Anchor-Free approach is utilized for the rapid detection of ship targets. To evaluate the performance of MSSD-Net, we conducted extensive experiments on the Synthetic Aperture Radar Ship Detection Dataset (SSDD) and SAR-Ship-Dataset. Our experimental results demonstrate that MSSD-Net achieves a mean average precision (mAP) of 98.02% on the SSDD while maintaining a compact model size of only 1.635 million parameters. The spaceborne high-resolution and wide-swath synthetic aperture radar (HRWS-SAR) system combined with the ground moving target indication (GMTI) mode provides a promising prospect in the realization of wide-area target surveying and high-resolution target imaging. In this paper, a system design method is proposed for an HRWS-SAR-GMTI system with ideal reconstruction configuration. In the proposed method, the whole azimuth receiving channels are uniformly divided into multiple groups, where HRWS-SAR imaging is implemented in each sub-group and then GMTI processing is performed based on the reconstructed SAR images. Then, an optimal candidate PRF is properly selected with respect to the optimal reconstruction configuration. After that, the digital beam forming scanning on receive (DBF-SCORE) technique is applied to further enlarge the range swath and improve the noise equivalent scattering coefficient (NESZ). High-resolution and wide-swath (HRWS) synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging with azimuth multi-channel always suffers from channel phase and amplitude errors. Compared with spatial-invariant error, the range-dependent channel phase error is intractable due to its spatial dependency characteristic. This paper proposes a novel parameterized channel equalization approach to reconstruct the unambiguous SAR imagery. First, a linear model is established for the range-dependent channel phase error, and the sharpness of the reconstructed Doppler spectrum is used to measure the unambiguity quality. Furthermore, the intrinsic relationship between the channel phase errors and the sharpness is revealed, which allows us to estimate the optimal parameters by maximizing the sharpness of the reconstructed Doppler spectrum. SAR image target recognition relies heavily on a large number of annotated samples, making it difficult to classify the unseen class targets. Due to the lack of effective category auxiliary information, the current zero-shot target recognition methods for SAR images are limited to inferring only one unseen class rather than classifying multiple unseen classes. To address this issue, a conditional generative network with the category features from the simulated images for zero-shot SAR target recognition is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the deep features are extracted from the simulated images and fused into the category features that characterize the entire class. Then, a conditional VAE-GAN network is constructed to generate the feature instances of the unseen classes. The high-level semantic information shared in the category features aids in generalizing the mapping learned from the seen classes to the unseen classes. Finally, the generated features of the unseen classes are used to train a classifier that can classify the real unseen images. The classification accuracies for the targets of the three unseen classes based on the proposed method can reach 99.80 ± 1.22% and 71.57 ± 2.28% with the SAMPLE dataset and the MSTAR dataset, respectively. The advantage and validity of the proposed architecture are indicated with a small number of the seen classes and a small amount of the training data. The significant differences in data domains between SAR images and the expensive and time-consuming process of data labeling pose significant challenges to terrain classification. Current terrain classification methodologies face challenges in addressing domain disparities and detecting uncommon terrain effectively. Based on Style Transformation and Domain Metrics (STDMs), we propose an unsupervised domain adaptive framework named STDM-UDA for terrain classification in this paper, which consists of two steps: image style transfer and domain adaptive segmentation. As a first step, image style transfer is performed within the image space to mitigate the differences in low-level features between SAR image domains. Subsequently, leveraging this process, the segmentation network extracts image features, employing domain metrics and adversarial training to enhance alignment between domain gaps in the semantic feature space. Finally, experiments conducted on several pairs of SAR images, each exhibiting varying degrees of differences in key imaging parameters such as source, resolution, band, and polarization, demonstrate the robustness of the proposed method. It achieves remarkably competitive classification accuracy, particularly for unlabeled, high-resolution broad scenes, effectively overcoming the domain gaps introduced by the diverse imaging parameters under studies. In the mosaic creation of multiple high-resolution synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images, achieving an optimal seamline in overlapping areas is crucial for seamless and visually satisfactory results. Many existing seamline generation methods are designed primarily for optical remote sensing images, but due to the differing characteristics of SAR images and optical images, applying these methods directly to SAR images poses challenges in finding the optimal seamline. In response, this paper proposes a segmentation-based optimal seamline generation (SOSG) method for SAR image mosaics. The SOSG method involves a multi-step process. First, SAR image joint segmentation is performed within the overlapping areas. Subsequently, homogeneous areas are identified based on the segmentation results. Following this, a pixel cost matrix is constructed, incorporating homogeneous areas and intensity differences. Finally, the minimum path cost from the starting pixel to the end pixel is computed using the Dijkstra algorithm to determine the optimal path. To assess the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method, experiments are conducted using multiple SAR images from the Chinese Gaofen-3 01 satellite as datasets. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method yields seamless mosaic images when compared to other methods, while delivering satisfactory outcomes. The imaging of high-speed high-squint synthetic aperture radar (HSHS-SAR), which is mounted on maneuvering platforms with curved trajectory, is a challenging task due to the existence of 3-D acceleration and the azimuth spatial variability of range migration and Doppler parameters. Although existing imaging algorithms based on linear range walk correction (LRWC) and nonlinear chirp scaling (NCS) can reduce the range–azimuth coupling of the frequency spectrum (FS) and the spatial variability of the Doppler parameter to some extent, they become invalid as the squint angle, speed, and resolution increase. Additionally, most of them ignore the effect of acceleration phase calibration (APC) on NCS, which should not be neglected as resolution increases. For these issues, a modified frequency nonlinear chirp scaling (MFNCS) algorithm is proposed in this paper. The proposed MFNCS algorithm mainly includes the following aspects. First, a more accurate approximation of range model (MAARM) is established to improve the accuracy of the instantaneous slant range history. Second, a preprocessing of the proposed algorithm based on the first range compression, LRWC, and a spatial-invariant APC (SIVAPC) is implemented to eliminate most of the effects of high-squint angle and 3-D acceleration on the FS. Third, a spatial-variant APC (SVAPC) is performed to remove azimuth spatial variability introduced by 3-D acceleration, and the range focusing is accomplished by the bulk range cell migration correction (BRCMC) and extended secondary range compression (ESRC). Fourth, the azimuth-dependent characteristics evaluation based on LRWC, SIVAPC, and SVAPC is completed to derive the MFNCS algorithm with fifth-order chirp scaling function for azimuth compression. Consequently, the final image is focused on the range time and azimuth frequency domain. The experimental simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. With a curved trajectory, HSHS-SAR imaging is carried out at a 50° geometric squint angle and 500 m × 500 m imaging width. The integrated sidelobe ratio and peak sidelobe ratio of the point targets at the scenario edges approach the theoretical values, and the range-azimuth resolution is 1.5 m × 3.0 m. Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) has the advantage of continuous observation throughout the day and in all weather conditions, and is used in a wide range of military and civil applications. Among these, the detection of ships at sea is an important research topic. Ships in SAR images are characterized by dense alignment, an arbitrary orientation and multiple scales. The existing detection algorithms are unable to solve these problems effectively. To address these issues, A YOLOV8-based oriented ship detection and classification method using SAR imaging with lightweight receptor field feature convolution, bottleneck transformers and a probabilistic intersection-over-union network (R-LRBPNet) is proposed in this paper. First, a CSP bottleneck with two bottleneck transformer (C2fBT) modules based on bottleneck transformers is proposed; this is an improved feature fusion module that integrates the global spatial features of bottleneck transformers and the rich channel features of C2f. This effectively reduces the negative impact of densely arranged scenarios. Second, we propose an angle decoupling module. This module uses probabilistic intersection-over-union (ProbIoU) and distribution focal loss (DFL) methods to compute the rotated intersection-over-union (RIoU), which effectively alleviates the problem of angle regression and the imbalance between angle regression and other regression tasks. Third, the lightweight receptive field feature convolution (LRFConv) is designed to replace the conventional convolution in the neck. This module can dynamically adjust the receptive field according to the target scale and calculate the feature pixel weights based on the input feature map. Through this module, the network can efficiently extract details and important information about ships to improve the classification performance of the ship. We conducted extensive experiments on the complex scene SAR dataset SRSDD and SSDD+. The experimental results show that R-LRBPNet has only 6.8 MB of model memory, which can achieve 78.2% detection accuracy, 64.2% recall, a 70.51 F1-Score and 71.85% mAP on the SRSDD dataset. High-resolution wide-swath (HRWS) imaging is the research focus of the modern spaceborne synthetic-aperture radar (SAR) imaging field, with significant relevance and vast application potential. Staggered SAR, as an innovative imaging system, mitigates blind areas across the entire swath by periodically altering the radar pulse repetition interval (PRI), thereby extending the swath width to multiples of that achievable by conventional systems. However, the staggered mode introduces inherent challenges, such as nonuniform azimuth sampling and echo data loss, leading to azimuth ambiguities and substantially impacting image quality. This paper proposes a sparse SAR imaging method for the low-oversampled staggered mode via compound regularization. The proposed method not only effectively suppresses azimuth ambiguities arising from nonuniform sampling without necessitating the restoration of missing echo data, but also incorporates total variation (TV) regularization into the sparse reconstruction model. This enhances the accurate reconstruction of distributed targets within the scene. Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) interferometry (InSAR) is a well-established remote sensing technique capable of providing accurate topographic information of an area. Multiple scattering occurring at different heights within a single resolution cell, however, cannot be resolved using a single baseline and results in a degradation of the height accuracy. Techniques such as polarimetric InSAR and SAR tomography tackle this problem using additional measurements to obtain the three-dimensional structure of the volume. However, polarimetry-based methods assume orthogonal and deterministic scattering mechanisms and tomography requires numerous observations. This paper presents a novel approach to retrieving the three-dimensional structure of semitransparent media using wide fractional bandwidth InSAR. The frequency dependency of the InSAR coherence is exploited to retrieve the three-dimensional structure, assuming that signals with wide fractional bandwidth are available, as is the case for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or drones. As the extinction is, in general, frequency-dependent, a third observation may improve the inversion results. Simulations of different scenarios show that the frequency profile can be inverted to obtain information about the three-dimensional scattering structure. The acquired data also enable retrieval of the phase center depth as a function of frequency. Operating mode identification is an important prerequisite for precise deceptive jamming technology against synthetic aperture radar (SAR). In order to solve the problems of traditional spaceborne SAR operating mode identification, such as low identification accuracy, poor timeliness, and limitation to main lobe reconnaissance, an efficient identification method based on sidelobe reconnaissance and machine learning is proposed in this paper. It can identify four classical SAR operating modes, including stripmap, scan, spotlight and ground moving target indication (GMTI). Firstly, the signal models of different operating modes are presented from the perspective of sidelobe reconnaissance. By setting the parameters differently, such as the SAR trajectory height, antenna length, transmit/receive gain and loss, signal–noise ratio, and so on, the feature samples based on multiple parameters can be obtained, respectively. Then, based on the generated database of feature samples, the initialized neural network can be pre-trained. As a result, in practice, with the intercepted sidelobe signal and the pre-trained network, we can precisely infer the SAR operating mode before the arrival of the main lobe beam footprint. Finally, the effect of SNR and the jammer's position on the identification accuracy is experimentally detailed in the simulation. Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is an important tool for observing the oceanic internal wave phenomenon. However, owing to the unstable imaging quality of SAR on oceanic internal waves, the texture details of internal wave images are usually unclear, which is not conducive to the subsequent applications of the images. To cope with this problem, a texture enhancement method for oceanic internal wave SAR images is proposed in this paper, which is based on non-local mean (NLM) filtering and texture layer enhancement (TLE). Since the strong speckle noise commonly present in internal wave images is simultaneously enhanced during texture enhancement, resulting in degraded image quality, NLM filtering is first performed to suppress speckle noise. Then, the denoised image is decomposed into the structure layer and the texture layer, and a texture layer enhancement method oriented to the texture characteristics of oceanic internal waves is proposed and applied. Finally, the enhanced texture layer and the structure layer are combined to reconstruct the final enhanced image. Experiments are conducted based on the Gaofen-3 real SAR data, and the results demonstrate that the proposed method performs well in suppressing speckle noise, maintaining overall image brightness, and enhancing internal wave texture details. Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) enables precise object localization and imaging, which has propelled the rapid development of algorithms for maritime ship identification and detection. However, most current deep learning-based algorithms tend to increase network depth to improve detection accuracy, which may result in the loss of effective features of the target. In response to this challenge, this paper innovatively proposes an object-enhanced network, OE-YOLO, designed specifically for SAR ship detection. Firstly, we input the original image into an improved CFAR detector, which enhances the network's ability to localize and perform object extraction by providing more information through an additional channel. Additionally, the Coordinate Attention mechanism (CA) is introduced into the backbone of YOLOv7-tiny to improve the model's ability to capture spatial and positional information in the image, thereby alleviating the problem of losing the position of small objects. Furthermore, to enhance the model's detection capability for multi-scale objects, we optimize the neck part of the original model to integrate the Asymptotic Feature Fusion (AFF) network. Finally, the proposed network model is thoroughly tested and evaluated using publicly available SAR image datasets, including the SAR-Ship-Dataset and HRSID dataset. In comparison to the baseline method YOLOv7-tiny, OE-YOLO exhibits superior performance with a lower parameter count. The deployable reflector antenna based on the synthetic aperture radar is a satellite component that consists of a unit structure in the form of a folded reflector. During the launch process, this satellite antenna is in the stowed condition to improve storage efficiency. It is then deployed to perform the space mission in the on-orbit condition. Due to these structural characteristics of the deployable reflector antenna, the reflector is possible to be loaded in the limited volume of the launch vehicle with the reduced size. Additionally, because the deployable reflector antenna is made by the lightweight material of the carbon fiber reinforced polymer and honeycomb core, it can reduce the launching cost and improve the revisit interval. In this paper, the conceptual design of the main reflector of the deployable reflector antenna was conducted. The main reflector was designed as the honeycomb sandwich composite structure. To design the main reflector, the stacking sequence of the composite material and honeycomb core was investigated to maximize the structural stiffness and minimize the antenna's mass. Subsequently, finite element analyses including modal, quasi-static, structural–thermal coupling, and transient response were performed to numerically evaluate the structural performance of the lightweight composite reflector antenna. In complex environments, the clutter statistical characteristics of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) are inconstant, and the constant detection performance of a false alarm rate (CFAR) detector based on a clutter statistical model is also hard to achieve. As a result, the overestimated threshold leads to a degradation in detection probability. To this end, this paper proposes a SAR ship detector different from CFAR detectors, which is independent of traditional clutter statistical distribution models and the probability of a false alarm (PFA). The proposed detector aims to raise the ship detection probability and alleviate interference from complex environments such as multi-target areas, shores, and breakwaters. It estimates clutter-truncated thresholds based on clutter intensity statistics (CIS). Firstly, three statistical parameters, including the mean, standard deviation, and maximum intensity of background clutter contaminated by outliers, are calculated; secondly, these parameters are utilized to estimate the clutter-truncated threshold using the novel CIS; and finally, the pixel under test is determined according to the CIS detection rule. Compared with CFAR-based algorithms, CIS obtains a high probability of detection in complex environments. As for other aspects, the CIS detector is insensitive to the structure of the detection window, as well as the size. It is also computationally efficient due to its simple calculations. This paper presents a methodology to detect the coastal erosion and progradation effects in the 'Atrato River' delta, located in the Gulf of Urabá in Colombia, using SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) images. Erosion is the physical–mechanical loss of the soil that affects its functions and ecosystem services while producing a reduction in its productive capacity. Progradation is the deposition of layers in the basinward direction while moving coastward. Other studies have investigated these two phenomena using optical images, encountering difficulties due to the persistent presence of clouds in this region. In order to avoid the cloud effects, in this study, we used 16 Sentinel 1 SAR images with two different polarizations between 2016 and 2023. First, each image was rescaled from 0 to 255, then the image was despeckled by a deep learning (DL) model. Afterwards, a single RGB image was composed with the filtered polarizations. Next, a classifier with 99% accuracy based on Otsu's method was used to determine whether each pixel was water or not. Then, the classified image was registered to a reference one using Oriented FAST and Rotated BRIEF (ORB) descriptor. Finally, a multitemporal analysis was performed by comparing every image to the previous one to identify the studied phenomena, calculating areas. Also, all images were integrated to obtain a heatmap that showed the overall changes across eight years (2016–2023) in a single image. The multitemporal analysis performed found that the newly created mouth is the most active area for these processes, coinciding with other studies. In addition, a comparison of these findings with the Oceanic Niño Index (ONI) showed a relative delayed coupling to the erosion process and a coupling of progradation with dry and wet seasons. Arctic sea ice detection is very important in global climate research, Arctic ecosystem protection, ship navigation and human activities. In this paper, by combining the co-pol ratio (HH/VV) and two kinds of cross-pol ratio (HV/VV, HV/HH), a novel sea ice detection method is proposed based on RADARSAT-2 quad-polarization synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images. Experimental results suggest that the co-pol ratio shows promising capability in sea ice detection at a wide range of incidence angles (25–50°), while the two kinds of cross-pol ratio are more applicable to sea ice detection at small incidence angles (20–35°). When incidence angles exceed 35°, wind conditions have a great effect on the performance of the cross-pol ratio. Our method is validated by comparison with the visual interpretation results. The overall accuracy is 96%, far higher than that of single polarization ratio (PR) parameter-based methods. Our method is suitable for sea ice detection in complex sea ice and wind conditions. Quasi-continuous wave radar is an attempt to give consideration to the performance of pulse and continuous wave radar signals. However, it also has the shortcomings of both. This paper aims to add a new quasi-continuous-wave coding method to the spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) system. The technology of improving spaceborne SAR imaging performance by coding quasi-continuous-wave pulses is studied, and some shortcomings of this algorithm are improved. Firstly, the application of quasi-continuous-wave radar in the SAR system is studied, and the coding and reconstruction scheme is provided so that this technology can be successfully applied in spaceborne SAR. Secondly, the effects of different quasi-continuous-wave coding methods on SAR imaging performance are evaluated, including signal-to-noise ratio, resolution, and integration time. Then, several coding schemes are given, and the characteristic changes of the signal after quasi-continuous-wave coding are analyzed. The transmit–receive conversion loss function and azimuth Doppler ambiguity function of the design scheme are analyzed, which proves the advantages of the scheme. Airborne circular synthetic aperture radar (CSAR) can realize high-resolution imaging of the scene over 360 degrees azimuth angle variation. Aiming at the problem of focusing of buildings for the airborne CSAR, this paper first analyzes the phase errors of CSAR buildings focusing in detail, and the analytic relationship between the scatterer height and azimuth focusing quality is deduced. Then, a focusing method of CSAR buildings based on the back projection algorithm is proposed. This method adopts the processing strategy of multi-layers imaging, and it is able to improve azimuth focusing quality of the buildings which have large height dimension. The proposed method is especially suitable for the high-resolution imaging and monitoring of the urban site with high-rise buildings in the airborne CSAR scenario. The multiple-input multiple-output synthetic aperture radar (MIMO SAR) system has developed rapidly since its discovery. At the same time, the low-disturbance and high-gain requirements of the MIMO system are continuing to increase. Through the application of digital beamforming (DBF) techniques, the multidimensional waveform encoding (MWE) technique can play a key role in MIMO systems, which can greatly improve the system's performance, especially the multi-mission capability of radar. Intrapulse beamsteering in elevation is a typical form of multi-dimensional waveform encoding which can greatly improve the transmitting efficiency and multi-mission performance of radar. However, because of the high sensitivity of the DBF technique to height, there is significant deterioration in performance in the presence of terrain undulations. The OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) technique is widely used in communication. Due to the similarity of radar and communication systems and the great waveform diversity of OFDM signals, the OFDM radar has recently begun to emerge as a new radar system, simultaneously, the orthogonality of OFDM signals is in the time and frequency domains, and is not affected by terrain undulation. So, this paper proposes a novel radar mode combining intrapulse beamsteering in elevation and OFDM-Chirp signals, that is, the combination of "beam orthogonality" and "waveform orthogonality", which can greatly improve the performance and fault tolerance to interference signals. In this manuscript, the system working mode and signal processing flow are introduced in detail, and simulations for both point targets and distributed targets are carried out to verify the feasibility of the proposed mode. Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is a high-resolution imaging radar. With the deteriorating electromagnetic environment, SAR systems are susceptible to various forms of electromagnetic interference, including deception jamming. This jamming notably impacts SAR signal processing and subsequently worsens the quality of acquired images. Chaotic frequency modulation (CFM) signals could effectively counteract deception jamming. Nevertheless, due to the inadequate band-limited performance of CFM signals, higher oversampling factors are needed for achieving optimal low sidelobe levels, leading to increased system costs and excessively high data rates. Additionally, not all chaotic sentences meet the CFM signal requirements. In response, this paper proposes a novel signal modulation method called chaotic-nonlinear frequency modulation (C-NLFM) that enhances band-limited performance. The optimum parameters for C-NLFM signals are selected using the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. In this way, C-NLFM signals attain ideal low sidelobe levels even when faced with reduced oversampling factors. Meanwhile, this chaotic coding mode retains its capability to effectively suppress deception jamming. Moreover, C-NLFM signals demonstrate versatility in adapting to various chaotic sequences, thereby enhancing their flexibility to modify the signals as required. Soil moisture is one of the main factors affecting microwave radar backscatter from the ground. While there are other factors that affect backscatter levels (for instance, surface roughness, vegetation, and incident angle), relative variations in soil moisture can be estimated using space-based, medium resolution, multi-temporal synthetic aperture radar (SAR). Understanding the distribution and identification of water-saturated areas using SAR soil moisture can be important for wetland mapping. The SAR soil moisture retrieval algorithm provides a relative assessment and requires calibration over wet and dry periods. In this work, relative soil moisture indicators are derived from a time series of the RADARSAT Constellation Mission (RCM) SAR compact polarimetric (CP) data over reclaimed areas of an oil sands mine in Alberta, Canada. An evaluation of the soil moisture product is performed using in situ measurements showing agreement from June to September. The surface scattering component of m-chi CP decomposition and the RL SAR products demonstrated a good agreement with the field data (low RMSE values and a perfect alignment with field-identified wetlands). Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) ship detection is applicable to various scenarios, such as maritime monitoring and navigational aids. However, the detection process is often prone to errors due to interferences from complex environmental factors like speckle noise, coastlines, and islands, which may result in false positives or missed detections. This article introduces a ship detection method for SAR images, which employs deep learning and morphological networks. Initially, adaptive preprocessing is carried out by a morphological network to enhance the edge features of ships and suppress background noise, thereby increasing detection accuracy. Subsequently, a coordinate channel attention module is integrated into the feature extraction network to improve the spatial awareness of the network toward ships, thus reducing the incidence of missed detections. Finally, a four-layer bidirectional feature pyramid network is designed, incorporating large-scale feature maps to capture detailed characteristics of ships, to enhance the detection capabilities of the network in complex geographic environments. Experiments were conducted using the publicly available SAR Ship Detection Dataset (SSDD) and High-Resolution SAR Image Dataset (HRSID). Compared with the baseline model YOLOX, the proposed method increased the recall by 3.11% and 0.22% for the SSDD and HRSID, respectively. Additionally, the mean Average Precision (mAP) improved by 0.7% and 0.36%, reaching 98.47% and 91.71% on these datasets. These results demonstrate the outstanding detection performance of our method. Oil spills are a major threat to marine and coastal environments. Their unique radar backscatter intensity can be captured by synthetic aperture radar (SAR), resulting in dark regions in the images. However, many marine phenomena can lead to erroneous detections of oil spills. In addition, SAR images of the ocean include multiple targets, such as sea surface, land, ships, and oil spills and their look-alikes. The training of a multi-category classifier will encounter significant challenges due to the inherent class imbalance. Addressing this issue requires extracting target features more effectively. In this study, a lightweight U-Net-based model, Full-Scale Aggregated MobileUNet (FA-MobileUNet), was proposed to improve the detection performance for oil spills using SAR images. First, a lightweight MobileNetv3 model was used as the backbone of the U-Net encoder for feature extraction. Next, atrous spatial pyramid pooling (ASPP) and a convolutional block attention module (CBAM) were used to improve the capacity of the network to extract multi-scale features and to increase the speed of module calculation. Finally, full-scale features from the encoder were aggregated to enhance the network's competence in extracting features. The proposed modified network enhanced the extraction and integration of features at different scales to improve the accuracy of detecting diverse marine targets. The experimental results showed that the mean intersection over union (mIoU) of the proposed model reached more than 80% for the detection of five types of marine targets including sea surface, land, ships, and oil spills and their look-alikes. In addition, the IoU of the proposed model reached 75.85 and 72.67% for oil spill and look-alike detection, which was 18.94% and 25.55% higher than that of the original U-Net model, respectively. Compared with other segmentation models, the proposed network can more accurately classify the black regions in SAR images into oil spills and their look-alikes. This study describes a method that combines synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data with shallow-water modeling to estimate flood hazards at a local level. The method uses particle filtering to integrate flood probability maps derived from SAR imagery with simulated flood maps for various flood return periods within specific river sub-catchments. We tested this method in a section of the Severn River basin in the UK. Our research involves 11 SAR flood observations from ENVISAT ASAR images, an ensemble of 15 particles representing various pre-computed flood scenarios, and 4 masks of spatial units corresponding to different river segmentations. Empirical results yield maps of maximum flood extent with associated return periods, reflecting the local characteristics of the river. The results are validated through a quantitative comparison approach, demonstrating that our method improves the accuracy of flood extent and scenario estimation. The unknown relative motions between synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and a ground moving target will lead to serious range cell migration (RCM) and Doppler frequency spread (DFS). The energy of the moving target will defocus, given the effect of the RCM and DFS. The moving target will easily produce Doppler ambiguity, due to the low pulse repetition frequency of radar, and the Doppler ambiguity complicates the corrections of the RCM and DFS. In order to address these issues, an efficient ground moving target focusing method for SAR based on scaled Fourier transform and scaled inverse Fourier transform is presented. Firstly, the operations based on the scaled Fourier transform and scaled inverse Fourier transforms are presented to focus the moving targets in consideration of Doppler ambiguity. Subsequently, in accordance with the detailed analysis of multiple target focusing, the spurious peak related to the cross term is removed. The proposed method can accurately eliminate the DFS and RCM, and the well-focused result of the moving target can be achieved under the complex Doppler ambiguity. Then, the blind speed sidelobe can be further avoided. The presented method has high computational efficiency without the step of parameter search. Generative adversarial network (GAN) can generate diverse and high-resolution images for data augmentation. However, when GAN is applied to the synthetic aperture radar (SAR) dataset, the generated categories are not of the same quality. The unrealistic category will affect the performance of the subsequent automatic target recognition (ATR). To overcome the problem, we propose a reinforced constraint filtering with compensation afterwards GAN (RCFCA-GAN) algorithm to generate SAR images. The proposed algorithm includes two stages. We focus on improving the quality of easily generated categories in Stage 1. Then, we record the categories that are hard to generate and compensate by using traditional augmentation methods in Stage 2. Thus, the overall quality of the generated images is improved. We conduct experiments on the moving and stationary target acquisition and recognition (MSTAR) dataset. Spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is an advanced microwave imaging technology that provides all-weather and all-day target information. However, as spaceborne SAR resolution improves, traditional echo signal models based on airborne SAR design become inadequate due to the curved orbit, Earth rotation, and increased propagation distance. In this study, we propose an accurate range model for high-resolution spaceborne SAR by analyzing motion trajectory and Doppler parameters from the perspective of the space geometry of spaceborne SAR. We evaluate the accuracy of existing range models and propose an advanced equivalent squint range model (AESRM) that accurately fits the actual range history and compensates for high-order term errors by introducing third-order and fourth-order error terms while maintaining the simplicity of the traditional model. The proposed AESRM's concise two-dimensional frequency spectrum form facilitates the design of imaging algorithms. Point target simulations confirm the effectiveness of the proposed AESRM, demonstrating significant improvements in fitting accuracy for range histories characterized by nonlinear trajectories. In synthetic aperture radar (SAR) signal processing, compared with the raw data of level-0, level-1 SAR images are more readily accessible and available in larger quantities. However, an amount of level-1 images are affected by radio frequency interference (RFI), which typically originates from Linear Frequency Modulation (LFM) signals emitted by ground-based radars. Existing research on interference suppression in level-1 data has primarily focused on two methods: transforming SAR images into simulated echo data for interference suppression, or focusing interference in the frequency domain and applying notching filters to reduce interference energy. However, these methods overlook the effective utilization of the interference parameters or are confined to suppressing only one type of LFM interference at a time. In certain SAR images, multiple types of LFM interference manifest bright radiation artifacts that exhibit varying lengths along the range direction while remaining constant in the azimuth direction. It is necessary to suppress multiple LFM interference on SAR images when original echo data are unavailable. This article proposes a joint sparse recovery algorithm for interference suppression in the SAR image domain. In the SAR image domain, two-dimensional LFM interference typically exhibits differences in parameters such as frequency modulation rate and pulse width in the range direction, while maintaining consistency in the azimuth direction. Based on this observation, this article constructs a series of focusing operators for LFM interference in SAR images. These operators enable the sparse representation of dispersed LFM interference. Subsequently, an optimization model is developed that can effectively suppress multi-LFM interference and reduce image loss with the assistance of a regularization term in the image domain. Ships are important targets for modern naval warfare detection and reconnaissance. The accurate detection of ships contributes to the maintenance of maritime rights and interests and the realisation of naval strategy. Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image detection tasks play a vital role in ship detection, which has consistently been a research hotspot in the field of SAR processing. Although significant progress has been achieved in SAR ship detection techniques using deep learning methods, some challenges still persist. Natural images and SAR images significantly diverge in imaging mechanisms and scattering characteristics. In complex background environments, ships exhibit multiscale variations and dense arrangements, and numerous small-sized ships may be present, culminating in false or missed detections. To address these issues, we propose a novel SAR ship detection network, namely, a Wavelet-Driven Feature-Enhanced Attention–You Only Look Once X (WDFA-YOLOX) network. Firstly, we propose a Wavelet Cascade Residual (WCR) module based on the traditional image processing technique wavelet transform, which is embedded within an improved Spatial Pyramid Pooling (SPP) module, culminating in the formation of the effective wavelet transform-based SPP module (WSPP). The WSPP compensates for the loss of fine-grained feature information during pooling, enhancing the capability of the network to detect ships amidst complex background interference. Secondly, a Global and Local Feature Attention Enhancement (GLFAE) module is proposed, leveraging a parallel structure that combines convolutional modules with transformer modules to reduce the effect of irrelevant information and effectively strengthens valid features associated with small-sized ships, resulting in a reduction in false negatives in small-sized ship detection. Finally, a novel loss function, the Chebyshev distance-generalised IoU loss function, is proposed to significantly enhance both the precision of the detection box and the network convergence speed. To support our approach, we performed thorough experiments on the SSDD and HRSID, achieving an average precision (AP) of 99.11% and 96.20%, respectively, in ship detection. Effective features play an important role in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image interpretation. However, since SAR images contain a variety of terrain types, it is not easy to extract effective features of different terrains from SAR images. Deep learning methods require a large amount of labeled data, but the difficulty of SAR image annotation limits the performance of deep learning models. SAR images have inevitable geometric distortion and coherence speckle noise, which makes it difficult to extract effective features from SAR images. If effective semantic context features cannot be learned for SAR images, the extracted features struggle to distinguish different terrain categories. Some existing terrain classification methods are very limited and can only be applied to some specified SAR images. To solve these problems, a jigsaw puzzle self-supervised learning (JPSSL) framework is proposed. The framework comprises a jigsaw puzzle pretext task and a terrain classification downstream task. In the pretext task, the information in the SAR image is learned by completing the SAR image jigsaw puzzle to extract effective features. The terrain classification downstream task is trained using only a small number of labeled data. Finally, fully connected conditional random field processing is performed to eliminate noise points and obtain a high-quality terrain classification result. Experimental results on three large-scene high-resolution SAR images confirm the effectiveness and generalization of our method. Compared with the supervised methods, the features learned in JPSSL are highly discriminative, and the JPSSL achieves good classification accuracy when using only a small amount of labeled data. Imaging maritime targets requires a high resolution and wide swath (HWRS) in a synthetic aperture radar (SAR). When operated with a variable pulse repetition interval (PRI), a staggered SAR can realize HRWS imaging, which needs to be reconstructed due to echo pulse loss and a nonuniformly sampled signal along the azimuth. The existing reconstruction algorithms are designed for stationary scenes in a staggered SAR mode, and thus, produce evident image defocusing caused by complex target motion for moving targets. Typically, the nonuniform sampling and complex motion of maritime targets aggravate the spectrum aliasing in a staggered SAR mode, causing inevitable ambiguity and degradation in its reconstruction performance. To this end, this study analyzed the spectrum of maritime targets in a staggered SAR system through theoretical derivation. After this, a reconstruction method named MBLCFD (Modified Best Linear Unbaised and Complex-Lag Time-Frequency Distribution) is proposed to refocus the blurred maritime target. First, the signal model of the maritime target with 3D rotation accompanying roll–pitch–yaw movement was established under the curved orbit of the satellite. The best linear unbiased (BLU) method was modified to alleviate the coupling of nonuniform sampling and target motion. A precise SAR algorithm was performed based on the method of inverse reversion to counteract the effect of a curved orbit and wide swath. Based on the hybrid SAR/ISAR technique, the complex-lag time-frequency distribution was exploited to refocus the maritime target images. Lithium mining has become a controversial issue in the transition to green technologies due to the intervention in natural basins that impact the native flora and fauna in these environments. Large resources of this element are concentrated in Andean salt flats in South America, where extraction is much easier than in other geological configurations. The Pozuelos highland salt flat, located in northern Argentina (Salta's Province), was chosen for this study due to the presence of different evaporitic crusts and its proven economic potential in lithium-rich brines. A comprehensive analysis of a 5.5-year-long time series of its microwave backscatter with Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images yielded significant insights into the dynamics of their crusts. During a field campaign conducted near the acquisition of three SAR images (Sentinel-1, ALOS-2/PALSAR-2, and SAOCOM-1), field measurements were collected for computational modeling of the SAR response. The temporal backscattering coefficients for the crusts in the salt flat are directly linked to rainfall events, where changes in surface roughness, soil moisture, and water table depth represent the most critical variables. Field parameters were employed to model the backscattering response of the salt flat using the Small Slope Approximation (SSA) model. Salt concentration of the subsurface brine and the water table depth over the slightly to moderately roughed crusts were quantitatively derived from Bayesian inference of the ALOS-2/PALSAR-2 and SAOCOM-1 SAR backscattering coefficient data. The results demonstrated the potential for subsurface estimation with L-band dual-polarization images, constrained to crusts compatible with the feasibility range of the layered model. Crop classification is indispensable for agricultural monitoring and food security, but early-season mapping has remained challenging. Synthetic aperture radar (SAR), such as RADARSAT Constellation Mission (RCM) and Sentinel-1, can meet higher requirements on the reliability of satellite data acquisition with all-weather and all-day imaging capability to supply dense observations in the early crop season. This study applied the local window attention transformer (LWAT) to time-series SAR data, including RCM and Sentinel-1, for early-season crop classification. The performance of this integration was evaluated over crop-dominated regions (corn, soybean and wheat) in southwest Ontario, Canada. Comparative analyses against several machine learning and deep learning methods revealed the superiority of the LWAT, achieving an impressive F1-score of 97.96% and a Kappa coefficient of 97.08% for the northern crop region and F1-scores of 98.07% and 97.02% for the southern crop region when leveraging time-series data from RCM and Sentinel-1, respectively. Additionally, by the incremental procedure, the evolution of accuracy determined by RCM and Sentinel-1 was analyzed, which demonstrated that RCM performed better at the beginning of the season and could achieve comparable accuracy to that achieved by utilizing both datasets. Moreover, the beginning of stem elongation of corn was identified as a crucial phenological stage to acquire acceptable crop maps in the early season. This study explores optimizing Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite constellation scheduling for multi-imaging missions in densely targeted areas using an in-house-developed Modified Dynamic Programming (MDP) algorithm. By employing Mixed-Integer Linear Programming (MILP) to define the mission planning problem, this research aims to maximize observation of high-value targets within restricted planning horizons. Numerical simulations, covering a wide range of target numbers and satellite configurations, reveal the MDP algorithm's superior mission allocation efficiency, enhanced success rates, and reduced revisit times compared to the greedy algorithm. Extracting buildings in urban scenes from remote sensing images is crucial for the construction of digital cities, urban monitoring, urban planning, and autonomous driving. Traditional methods generally rely on shadow detection or stereo matching from multi-view high-resolution remote sensing images, which is cost-intensive. Recently, machine learning has provided solutions for the estimation of building heights from remote sensing images, but challenges remain due to the limited observation angles and image quality. The inherent lack of information in a single modality greatly limits the extraction precision. This article proposes an advanced method using multi-source remote sensing images for urban building height estimation, which is characterized by multi-level cross-fusion, the multi-task joint learning of footprint extraction and height estimation, and semantic information to refine the height estimation results. The complementary and effective features of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and electro-optical (EO) images are transferred through multi-level cross-fusion. We use the semantic information of the footprint extraction branch to refine the height estimation results, enhancing the height results from coarse to fine. Finally, We evaluate our model on the SpaceNet 6 dataset and achieve 0.3849 and 0.7231 in the height estimation metric δ 1 and footprint extraction metric D i c e , respectively, which indicate effective improvements in the results compared to other methods. Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) ship detection and classification has gained unprecedented attention due to its important role in maritime transportation. Many deep learning-based detectors and classifiers have been successfully applied and achieved great progress. However, ships in SAR images present discrete and multi-centric features, and their scattering characteristics and edge information are sensitive to variations in target attitude angles (TAAs). These factors pose challenges for existing methods to obtain satisfactory results. To address these challenges, a novel target attitude angle-guided network (TAG-Net) is proposed in this article. The core idea of TAG-Net is to leverage TAA information as guidance and use an adaptive feature-level fusion strategy to dynamically learn more representative features that can handle the target imaging diversity caused by TAA. This is achieved through a TAA-aware feature modulation (TAFM) module. It uses the TAA information and foreground information as prior knowledge and establishes the relationship between the ship scattering characteristics and TAA information. This enables a reduction in the intra-class variability and highlights ship targets. Additionally, considering the different requirements of the detection and classification tasks for the scattering information, we propose a layer-wise attention-based task decoupling detection head (LATD). Unlike general deep learning methods that use shared features for both detection and classification tasks, LATD extracts multi-level features and uses layer attention to achieve feature decoupling and select the most suitable features for each task. Finally, we introduce a novel salient-enhanced feature balance module (SFB) to provide richer semantic information and capture the global context to highlight ships in complex scenes, effectively reducing the impact of background noise. The unique imaging modality of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) has posed significant challenges for object detection, making it more complex to acquire and interpret than optical images. Recently, numerous studies have proposed cross-domain adaptive methods based on convolutional neural networks (CNNs) to promote SAR object detection using optical data. However, existing cross-domain methods focus on image features, lack improvement on input data, and ignore the valuable supervision provided by few labeled SAR images. Therefore, we propose a semi-supervised cross-domain object detection framework that uses optical data and few SAR data to achieve knowledge transfer for SAR object detection. Our method focuses on the data processing aspects to gradually reduce the domain shift at the image, instance, and feature levels. First, we propose a data augmentation method of image mixing and instance swapping to generate a mixed domain that is more similar to the SAR domain. This method fully utilizes few SAR annotation information to reduce domain shift at image and instance levels. Second, at the feature level, we propose an adaptive optimization strategy to filter out mixed domain samples that significantly deviate from the SAR feature distribution to train feature extractor. In addition, we employ Vision Transformer (ViT) as feature extractor to handle the global feature extraction of mixed images. We propose a detection head based on normalized Wasserstein distance (NWD) to enhance objects with smaller effective regions in SAR images. Ship detection finds extensive applications in fisheries management, maritime rescue, and surveillance. However, detecting nearshore targets in SAR images is challenging due to land scattering interference and non-axisymmetric ship shapes. Existing SAR ship detection models struggle to adapt to oriented ship detection in complex nearshore environments. To address this, we propose an oriented-reppoints target detection scheme guided by scattering points in SAR images. Our method deeply integrates SAR image target scattering characteristics and designs an adaptive sample selection scheme guided by target scattering points. This incorporates scattering position features into the sample quality measurement scheme, providing the network with a higher-quality set of proposed reppoints. We also introduce a novel supervised guidance paradigm that uses target scattering points to guide the initialization of reppoints, mitigating the influence of land scattering interference on the initial reppoints quality. This achieves adaptive feature learning, enhancing the quality of the initial reppoints set and the performance of object detection. Our method has been extensively tested on the SSDD and HRSID datasets, where we achieved mAP scores of 89.8% and 80.8%, respectively. These scores represent significant improvements over the baseline methods, demonstrating the effectiveness and robustness of our approach.
