The precise tie-points (TPs) on synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images are a critical cornerstone in the global digital elevation model (DEM) and digital ortho map (DOM) production process. While there are abundant studies on SAR TPs matching, improvement opportunities persist in large areas. The correspondences have pixel-level errors during geocoding, which result in misalignment between global products. Consequently, this paper proposed a robust method for SAR images TPs matching, which consists of three key steps: (1) interest point extraction based on the dynamic Harris area entropy (DHAE) grid; (2) adaptive determination of template size; (3) normalized cross correlation (NCC) template matching. DHAE is a regional texture information grid based on the SAR-Harris map, and it is achieved through dynamic block division. Generating the DHAE grid over SAR images enables the extraction of interest points that have regional feature representation and distribution uniformity. A variable-size matching template is adaptively determined based on DHAE to enhance template quality while maintaining computational efficiency. Subsequently, the NCC algorithm is employed to find subpixel-precise correspondences. The proposed method is applied on TPs matching in 57 Terra-SAR images, which cover a large geographical area. Furthermore, the overlapping area is partitioned into five segments according to different coverage types. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms other template matching methods. For all coverage types, the proposed method exhibits high-precision sub-pixel results that reach up to 38.64% in terms of the relative positioning error (RPE), particularly in texture-weak and large areas. Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) change detection provides a powerful tool for continuous, reliable, and objective observation of the Earth, supporting a wide range of applications that require regular monitoring and assessment of changes in the natural and built environment. In this paper, we introduce a novel SAR image change detection method based on principal component analysis and two-level clustering. First, two difference images of the log-ratio and mean-ratio operators are computed, then the principal component analysis fusion model is used to fuse the two difference images, and a new difference image is generated. To incorporate contextual information during the feature extraction phase, Gabor wavelets are used to obtain the representation of the difference image across multiple scales and orientations. The maximum magnitude across all orientations at each scale is then concatenated to form the Gabor feature vector. Following this, a cascading clustering algorithm is developed within this discriminative feature space by merging the first-level fuzzy c-means clustering with the second-level neighbor rule. Ultimately, the two-level combination of the changed and unchanged results produces the final change map. Coastal sediment grain size is an important factor in determining coastal morphodynamics. In this study, we explore a novel approach for retrieving the median sediment grain size (D50) of gravel-dominated beaches using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) spaceborne imagery. We assessed this by using thirty-six Sentinel-1 (C-band SAR) satellite images acquired in May and June 2022 and 2023, and three NovaSAR (S-band SAR) satellite images acquired in May and June 2022, for three different training sites and one test site across England (the UK). The results from the Sentinel-1 C-band data show strong positive correlations (R2 ≥ 0.75 ) between the D50 and the backscatter coefficients for 15/18 of the resultant models. The models were subsequently used to derive predictions of D50 for the test site, with the models which exhibited the strongest correlations resulting in Mean Absolute Errors (MAEs) in the range 2.26–5.47 mm. No correlation (R2 = 0.04) was found between the backscatter coefficients from the S-band NovaSAR data and D50. These results highlight the potential to derive near-real time estimates of coastal sediment grain size for gravel beaches to better inform coastal erosion and monitoring programs. The internal waves in the South China Sea are highly correlated with the tidal currents in the Luzon Strait, which makes it possible to establish an internal wave prediction model based on internal wave kinematics. However, the kinematic model requires the input of the exact location and time of the initial internal wave for which the generation mechanism of internal waves in the northern South China Sea must be well understood. By analyzing the internal wave field in the northern South China Sea (SCS) simulated using the MIT General Circulation Model (MITgcm) and observations from satellite synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and mooring temperature–salinity–depth (TSD) chains, the source regions and propagation initiation times of internal waves are identified for three typical tidal phases, i.e., the diurnal-tide-dominated phase (DTP), transition tide phase (TTP), and semidiurnal-tide-dominated phase (STP). The generation procedures of Type A and Type B internal waves are discussed in detail with those data. The present study reveals that Type A and Type B waves are generated at the eastern and western ridges, respectively, and both commence their westward propagation at the peak of the eastward tidal flow. The dynamics of lee waves and the resonance effect with double ridges constitute the generation mechanisms of internal waves in the northern SCS. Combined with varying configurations of tidal conditions, topography, and stratification, the generation procedures of Type A and Type B waves in the DTP, TTP, and STP are elucidated with the generation mechanism in a unified and self-consistent way. In short, during DTP, weaker A waves alternate with weaker B waves each day; during TTP, strong A waves and strong B waves appear alternately every day; and there are two weak A waves per day during the STP. The generation mechanism can help in developing future empirical models for generating internal waves using tidal currents, topography, and stratification without requiring complex fluid dynamics calculations. There is an urgent need to develop non-destructive testing (NDT) methods for infrastructure facilities and residences, etc., where human lives are at stake, to prevent collapse due to aging or natural disasters such as earthquakes before they occur. In such inspections, it is desirable to develop a remote, non-contact, non-destructive inspection method that can inspect cracks as small as 0.1 mm on the surface of a structure and damage inside and on the surface of the structure that cannot be seen by the human eye with high sensitivity, while ensuring the safety of the engineers inspecting the structure. Based on this perspective, we developed a radar module (absolute gain of the transmitting antenna: 13.5 dB; absolute gain of the receiving antenna: 14.5 dB) with very high directivity and minimal loss in the signal transmission path between the radar chip and the array antenna, using our previously developed technology. A single-input, multiple-output (SIMO) synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging system was developed using this module. As a result of various performance evaluations using this system, we were able to demonstrate that this system has a performance that fully satisfies the abovementioned indices. First, the SNR in millimeter-wave (MM-wave) imaging was improved by 5.4 dB compared to the previously constructed imaging system using the IWR1443BOOST EVM, even though the measured distance was 2.66 times longer. As a specific example of the results of measurements on infrastructure facilities, the system successfully observed cracks as small as 0.1 mm in concrete materials hidden under glass fiber-reinforced tape and black acrylic paint. In this case, measurements were also made from a distance of about 3 m to meet the remote observation requirements, but the radar module with its high-directivity and high-gain antenna proved to be more sensitive in detecting crack structures than measurements made from a distance of 780 mm. In order to estimate the penetration length of MM waves into concrete, an experiment was conducted to measure the penetration of MM waves through a thin concrete slab with a thickness of 3.7 mm. As a result, Λexp = 6.0 mm was obtained as the attenuation distance of MM waves in the concrete slab used. In addition, transmission measurement experiments using a composite material consisting of ceramic tiles and fireproof board, which is a component of a house, and experiments using composite plywood, which is used as a general housing construction material in Japan, succeeded in making perspective observations of defects in the internal structure, etc., which are invisible to the human eye. Supervised machine learning algorithms usually require huge labeled data sets to produce sufficiently good results. For many applications, these data sets are still not available today, and the reasons for this can be manifold. As a solution, the missing training data can be generated by fast simulators. This procedure is well studied and allows filling possible gaps in the training data, which can further improve the results of a machine learning model. For this reason, this article deals with the development of a two-dimensional electromagnetic field simulator for modeling the response of a radar sensor in an imaging system based on the synthetic aperture radar principle. The creation of completely random scenes is essential to achieve data sets with large variance. Therefore, special emphasis is placed on the development of methods that allow creating random objects, which can then be assembled into an entire scene. In the context of this contribution, we focus on humanitarian demining with regard to improvised explosive devices using a ground-penetrating radar system. This is an area where the use of trained classifiers is of great importance, but in practice, there are little to no labeled datasets for the training process. The simulation results show good agreement with the measurement results obtained in a previous contribution, demonstrating the possibility of enhancing sparse training data sets with synthetic data. The Intermittent Small Baseline Subset approach to Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar data was originally devised as a way to recover information from regions with intermittent coherence, making it particularly useful in agricultural regions or those featuring significant vegetation. However, as modern data products grow in size, the increased computational complexity that this methodology demands makes processing more daunting. Here, we present a solution: leveraging the Bifrost data processing framework and GPUs, we analyze Sentinel-1 data covering a large region of northern California and are able to achieve dramatic speed-ups on the order of 300–400 times faster than CPU-bound implementations of ISBAS, processing the entire dataset in only 5 h. Three-dimensional SAR imaging of urban buildings is currently a hotspot in the research area of remote sensing. Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) offers all-time, all-weather, high-resolution capacity, and is an important tool for the monitoring of building health. Buildings have geometric distortion in conventional 2D SAR images, which brings great difficulties to the interpretation of SAR images. This paper proposes a novel Rotating SAR (RSAR) mode, which acquires 3D information of buildings from two different angles in a single rotation. This new RSAR mode takes the center of a straight track as its rotation center, and obtains images of the same facade of a building from two different angles. By utilizing the differences in geometric distortion of buildings in the image pair, the 3D structure of the building is reconstructed. Compared to the existing tomographic SAR or circular SAR, this method does not require multiple flights in different elevations or observations from varying aspect angles, and greatly simplifies data acquisition. This paper presents a statistical approach to identify the underlying roughness characteristics in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) intensity data. The physical modeling of this kind of data allows the use of the Gamma distribution in the presence of fully developed speckle, i.e., when there are infinitely many independent backscatterers per resolution cell, and none dominates the return. Such areas are often called "homogeneous" or "textureless" regions. The G I 0 distribution is also a widely accepted law for heterogeneous and extremely heterogeneous regions, i.e., areas where the fully developed speckle hypotheses do not hold. We propose three test statistics to distinguish between homogeneous and inhomogeneous regions, i.e., between gamma and G I 0 distributed data, both with a known number of looks. The first test statistic uses a bootstrapped non-parametric estimator of Shannon entropy, providing a robust assessment in uncertain distributional assumptions. The second test uses the classical coefficient of variation (CV). The third test uses an alternative form of estimating the CV based on the ratio of the mean absolute deviation from the median to the median. We apply our test statistic to create maps of p-values for the homogeneity hypothesis. Finally, we show that our proposal, the entropy-based test, outperforms existing methods, such as the classical CV and its alternative variant, in identifying heterogeneity when applied to both simulated and actual data. The use of multiple synthetic aperture radar polarizations can improve biomass estimations compared to using a single polarization. In this study, we compared predictions of aboveground biomass change from ALOS-2 PALSAR-2 backscatter using linear regression based on (1) the cross-polarization channels, (2) the co- and cross-polarizations from fully polarimetric SAR, (3) Freeman–Durden polarimetric decomposition, and (4) the polarimetric radar vegetation index (RVI). Additionally, the impact of forest structure on the sensitivity of the polarimetric backscatter to AGB and AGB change was assessed. The biomass consisted of mainly coniferous trees at the hemi-boreal test site Remningstorp, located in southern Sweden. We found some improvements in the predictions when quad-polarized data (RMSE = 79.4 tons/ha) were used instead of solely cross-polarized data (RMSE = 84.9 tons/ha). However, when using Freeman–Durden decomposition, the prediction accuracy improved further (RMSE = 69.7 tons/ha), and the highest accuracy was obtained with the radar vegetation index (RMSE = 50.4 tons/ha). The corresponding R2 values ranged from 0.45 to 0.82. The bias was less than 1 t/ha for all models. An analysis of forest variables showed that the sensitivity to AGB was reduced for high values of basal-area-weighted mean height, basal area, and stem density when predicting absolute AGB, but the best change prediction model was sensitive to changes larger than the apparent saturation point for AGB state estimates. We conclude that by using fully polarimetric SAR images, forest biomass changes can be estimated more accurately compared to using single- or dual-polarization images. The Cyprus Continuously Operating Natural Hazards Monitoring and Prevention System, abbreviated CyCLOPS, is a national strategic research infrastructure devoted to systematically studying geohazards in Cyprus and the Eastern Mediterranean, Middle East, and North Africa (EMMENA) region. Amongst others, CyCLOPS comprises six permanent sites, each housing a Tier-1 GNSS reference station co-located with two calibration-grade corner reflectors (CRs). The latter are strategically positioned to account for both the ascending and descending tracks of SAR satellite missions, including the ESA's Sentinel-1. As of June 2021, CyCLOPS has reached full operational capacity and plays a crucial role in monitoring the geodynamic regime within the southeastern Mediterranean area. Additionally, it actively tracks landslides occurring in the western part of Cyprus. Although CyCLOPS primarily concentrates on geohazard monitoring, its infrastructure is also configured to facilitate the radiometric calibration and geometric validation of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imagery. Consequently, this study evaluates the performance of Sentinel-1A SAR by exploiting the CyCLOPS network to determine key parameters including spatial resolution, sidelobe levels, Radar Cross-Section (RCS), Signal-to-Clutter Ratio (SCR), phase stability, and localization accuracy, through Point Target Analysis (PTA). The findings reveal the effectiveness of the CyCLOPS infrastructure to maintain high-quality radiometric parameters in SAR imagery, with consistent spatial resolution, controlled sidelobe levels, and reliable RCS and SCR values that closely adhere to theoretical expectations. Inland water level and its dynamics are key components in the global water cycle and land surface hydrology, significantly influencing climate variability and water resource management. Satellite observations, in particular altimetry missions, provide inland water level time series for nearly three decades. Space-based remote sensing is regarded as a cost-effective technique that provides measurements of global coverage and homogeneous accuracy in contrast to in-situ sensors. The advent of Open-Loop Tracking Command (OLTC), and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) mode strengthened the use of altimetry missions for inland water level monitoring. However, it is still very challenging to obtain accurate measurements of water level over narrow rivers and small lakes. This scoping systematic literature review summarizes and disseminates the research findings, highlights major results, and presents the limitations regarding inland water level monitoring from satellite observations between 2018 and 2022. Following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guideline and through a double screening process, 48 scientific publications were selected meeting the eligibility criteria. To summarize the achievements of the previous 5 years, we present fundamental statistical results of the publications, such as the annual number of publications, scientific journals, keywords, and study regions per continent and type of inland water body. Also, publications associated with specific satellite missions were analyzed. The findings show that Sentinel-3 is the dominant satellite mission, while the ICESat-2 laser altimetry mission has exhibited a high growth trend. Furthermore, publications including radar altimetry missions were charted based on the retracking algorithms, presenting the novel and improved methods of the last five years. Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is a powerful tool for detecting and imaging targets in enclosed environments, such as tunnels and underground garages. However, SAR performance is degraded by multipath effects, which occur when electromagnetic waves are reflected by obstacles, such as walls, and interfere with the direct signal. This results in the formation of multipath ghost images, which obscure the true target and reduce the image quality. To overcome this challenge, we propose a novel method based on multi-angle observation. This method exploits the fact that the position of ghost images changes depending on the angle of the radar, while the position of the true target remains stable. By collecting and processing multiple data sets from different angles, we can eliminate the ghost images and enhance the target image. In addition, we introduce a center vector distance algorithm to address the complexity and computational intensity of existing multipath suppression algorithms. This algorithm, which defines the primary direction of multi-angle vectors from stable scattering centers as the center vector, processes and synthesizes multiple data sets from multi-angle observations. It calculates the distance of pixel intensity sequences in the composite data image from the center vector. Pixels within a specified threshold are used for imaging, and the final result is obtained. Aircraft targets, as high-value subjects, are a focal point in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image interpretation. To tackle challenges like limited SAR aircraft datasets and shortcomings in existing detection algorithms (complexity, poor performance, weak generalization), we present the Feature Enhancement and Multi-Scales Fusion Network (FEMSFNet) for SAR aircraft detection. FEMSFNet employs diverse image augmentation and integrates optimized Squeeze-and-Excitation Networks (SE) with residual network (ResNet) in a SdE-Resblock structure for a lightweight yet accurate model. It introduces ssppf-CSP module, an improved pyramid pooling model, to prevent receptive field deviation in deep network training. Tailored for SAR aircraft detection, FEMSFNet optimizes loss functions, emphasizing both speed and accuracy. Evaluation on the SAR Aircraft Detection Dataset (SADD) demonstrates significant improvements compared to the contrasted algorithms: precision rate (92%), recall rate (96%), and F1 score (94%), with a maximum increase of 12.2% in precision, 12.9% in recall, and 13.3% in F1 score. Positioning a Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) receiver at a significant distance from an illuminator in a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) enables wide-angle repeat-pass bistatic interferometry. It's crucial to define the positioning limits of the receiver with respect to the illuminator to ensure reasonable coherences, altitudes of ambiguity, and a suitable common wavenumber support. I extended the standard monostatic formula, which yields the change in the interferometric travel path due to the vertical baseline. In the wide-angle bistatic case, the range-azimuth coordinate system is no longer orthogonal and we must consider the full 2D vector nature of the LOS orthogonal components. The two vertical baselines and the horizontal baseline of the receiver are needed to parameterize the system. Their impact on the interferometric coherence is quantified and bistatic limits are seen to be more flexible than those in the monostatic case due to the combination of independent baselines. I estimated the coherence, and then extended the analysis to the wavenumber domain, to quantify the common spectral support due to the wavenumber shifts due to the three baselines. The analysis carried out geometrically allows for combining together the effects of the transmitter's and receiver's vertical baselines and thus representing the residual spectral fraction with two instead of three parameters. Finally, I examined the achievable spatial resolution of the position of the interferer obtainable from the delay of the arrival of the interference between the illuminator (supposed to be silent) and the receiver. This paper proposes a texture-enhanced network (TENet) for intertidal sediment and habitat classification using multiband multipolarization synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images. The architecture introduces the texture enhancement module (TEM) into the UNet framework to explicitly learn global texture information from SAR images. The study sites are chosen from the northern part of the intertidal zones in the German Wadden Sea. Results show that the presented TENet model is able to detail the intertidal surface types, including land, seagrass, bivalves, bright sands/beach, water, sediments, and thin coverage of vegetation or bivalves. To further assess its performance, we quantitatively compared our results from the TENet model with different instance segmentation models for the same areas of interest. The Land Use Change Alert (LUCA) dataset was developed for effective and timely monitoring of global forest changes that are mostly associated with human activities. Near- real-time changes of forest land use are mapped at 0.05 ha minimum mapping unit for all forest types across the Earth's ecoregions, every two weeks. LUCA is based on Sentinel-1 cloud penetrating synthetic aperture radar (SAR) observations to circumvent limitations of optical imagery from pervasive cloud cover over forested areas globally, and especially in the tropics. The methodology is based on a combination of time-series change detection and machine learning analytics to achieve high accuracy of alerts across all ecoregions and landscapes globally with an average area-adjusted users and producers accuracy of 83% and 63%, respectively. The bi-weekly global alert maps capture forest clearing associated with deforestation and industrial timber harvesting, along with forest degradation associated with selective logging, fragmentation, fire, and roads. The product was developed and released publicly through Google Earth Engine to allow for the rapid assessment of land use change activities, quantifying patterns and processes driving forest change and dynamics across forest ecoregions. LUCA is designed to help monitor a variety of emission reduction programs at the local to regional scales and play a key role in implementing regulations on deforestation-free products. Spatial and temporal variation in the free electron concentration in the ionosphere affects SAR interferograms, in particular at low radar frequencies. In this work, the identification, estimation, and compensation of ionospheric path delay phases in PALSAR-3 and NISAR-L interferograms are discussed. Both of these L-band sensors simultaneously acquire SAR data in a main spectral band and in an additional, spectrally separated, narrower second band to support the mitigation of ionospheric path delays. The methods presented permit separating the dispersive and the non-dispersive phase terms based on the double-difference interferogram between the two available spectral bands and the differential interferogram of the main band. Excluding rough areas with surface rocks and craters is critical for the safety of landing missions, such as China's Chang'e-7 mission, in the permanently shadowed region (PSR) of the lunar south pole. Binned digital elevation model (DEM) data can describe the undulating surface, but the DEM data can hardly detect surface rocks because of median-averaging. High-resolution images from a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) can be used to map discrete rocks and small craters according to their strong backscattering. This study utilizes the You Only Look Once version 7 (YOLOv7) tool to detect varying-sized craters in SAR images. It also employs the Markov random field (MRF) algorithm to identify surface rocks, which are usually difficult to detect in DEM data. The results are validated by optical images and DEM data in non-PSR. With the assistance of the DEM data, regions with slopes larger than 10° are excluded. YOLOv7 and MRF are applied to detect craters and rocky surfaces and exclude regions with steep slopes in the PSRs of craters Shoemaker, Slater, and Shackleton, respectively. When Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) observes complex structural targets such as oil tanks, it is easily interfered with by multipath signals, resulting in a large number of multipath ghost images in the SAR image, which seriously affect the image clarity. To address this problem, this paper proposes a multi-aspect multipath suppression method. This method observes complex structural targets from different azimuth angles to obtain a multi-aspect image sequence and then uses the difference in sequence features between the target image and the multipath ghost image with respect to aspect angle to separate them. This paper takes a floating-roof oil tank as an example to analyze the propagation path and the ghost image characteristics of multipath signals under different observation aspects. We conclude that the scattering center of the multipath ghost image changes with the radar observation aspect, whereas the scattering center of the target image does not. This paper uses the Robust Principal Component Analysis (RPCA) method to decompose the image sequence matrix into two parts: a sparse matrix and a low-rank matrix. The low-rank matrix represents the aspect-stable principal component in the image sequence; that is, the real scattering center. The sparse matrix represents the part of the image sequence that deviates from the principal component; that is, the signal that varies with aspect, mainly including multipath signals, sidelobes, anisotropic signals, etc. By reconstructing the low-rank matrix and the sparse matrix, respectively, we can obtain the image after multipath signal suppression and also the multipath ghost image. Both the target and the multipath signal provide useful information. The image after multipath signal suppression is useful for obtaining the structural information of the target, and the multipath ghost image is useful for analyzing the multipath phenomenon of the complex structure target. This paper conducts experimental verification using real airborne SAR data of an external floating roof oil tank and compares three methods: RPCA, PCA, and sub-aperture fusion method. Due to the complex imaging mechanism of SAR images and the lack of multi-angle and multi-parameter real scene SAR target data, the generalization performance of existing deep-learning-based synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image target detection methods are extremely limited. In this paper, we propose an unsupervised domain-adaptive SAR ship detection method based on cross-domain feature interaction and data contribution balance. First, we designed a new cross-domain image generation module called CycleGAN-SCA to narrow the gap between the source domain and the target domain. Second, to alleviate the influence of complex backgrounds on ship detection, a new backbone using a self-attention mechanism to tap the potential of feature representation was designed. Furthermore, aiming at the problems of low resolution, few features and easy information loss of small ships, a new lightweight feature fusion and feature enhancement neck was designed. Finally, to balance the influence of different quality samples on the model, a simple and efficient E 1 2 I o U Loss was constructed. Experimental results based on a self-built large-scale optical-SAR cross-domain target detection dataset show that compared with existing cross-domain methods, our method achieved optimal performance, with the mAP reaching 68.54%. Ship detection is a significant issue in remote sensing based on Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR). This paper combines the advantages of a steady constant false alarm rate (CFAR) detector and a knowledge-oriented Gradient Boosting Decision Tree (GBDT) classifier to achieve the location and the classification of ship candidates. The steady CFAR detector smooths the image by a moving-average filter and models the probability distribution of the smoothed clutter as a Gaussian distribution. The mean and the standard deviation of the Gaussian distribution are estimated according to the left half of the histogram to remove the effect of land, ships, and other targets. From the Gaussian distribution and a preset constant false alarm rate, a threshold is obtained to segment land, ships, and other targets from the clutter. Then, a series of morphological operations are introduced to eliminate land and extract ships and other targets, and an active contour algorithm is utilized to refine ships and other targets. Finally, ships are recognized from other targets by a knowledge-oriented GBDT classifier. Based on the brain-like ship-recognition process, we change the way of the decision-tree generation and achieve a higher classification performance than the original GBDT. On 20 May 2012, an Mw 5.8 earthquake, followed by an Mw 5.6 event nine days later, struck the Emilia-Romagna region in northern Italy, causing substantial damage and loss of life. Post-mainshock, several water-related phenomena were observed, such as changes in the groundwater levels in wells, the expulsion of sand–water mixtures, and widespread liquefaction evidence such as sand boils and water leaks from cracks. We analyzed the Earth's surface displacement during and after the Emilia 2012 seismic sequence using synthetic aperture radar images from the COSMO-SkyMed satellite constellation. This analysis revealed post-seismic ground subsidence between the Sant'Agostino and Mirabello villages. Specifically, the displacement time series showed a slight initial uplift followed by rapid subsidence over approximately four to five months. This widespread ground displacement pattern likely stemmed from the extensive liquefaction of saturated sandy layers at depth. This phenomenon typically induces immediate post-seismic subsidence. However, the observed asymptotic subsidence, reaching about 2.1 cm, suggested a time-dependent process related to post-liquefaction consolidation. To test this hypothesis, we analytically estimated the consolidation subsidence resulting from earthquake-induced excess pore pressure dissipation in the layered soil deposits. The simulated subsidence matched the observed data, further validating the significant role of excess pore pressure dissipation induced by earthquake loading in post-seismic ground subsidence. Given the large volume of remote sensing images collected daily, automatic object detection and segmentation have been a consistent need in Earth observation (EO). However, objects of interest vary in shape, size, appearance, and reflecting properties. This is not only reflected by the fact that these objects exhibit differences due to their geographical diversity but also by the fact that these objects appear differently in images collected from different sensors (optical and radar) and platforms (satellite, aerial, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV)). Although there exists a plethora of object detection methods in the area of remote sensing, given the very fast development of prevalent deep learning methods, there is still a lack of recent updates for object detection methods. In this paper, we aim to provide an update that informs researchers about the recent development of object detection methods and their close sibling in the deep learning era, instance segmentation. The integration of these methods will cover approaches to data at different scales and modalities, such as optical, synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images, and digital surface models (DSM). Specific emphasis will be placed on approaches addressing data and label limitations in this deep learning era. This article presents a methodology for evaluating the susceptibility of landfill areas to develop landslides by analyzing Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite products. The deformation velocity of the landfills is computed through the Persistent Scatterer Method on SAR imagery. These data, combined with a deformation model based on the shallow water equations (SWE), form the foundation for a Monte Carlo experiment that extrapolates the current state of the landfill into the future. The results of this simulation are then employed to determine the probability of a landslide occurrence. In order to validate the methodology effectiveness, a case study is conducted on a landfill in Zaldibar, Spain, revealing its effectiveness in estimating the probability of landfill landslides. This innovative approach emerges as an asset in large landfill management, acting as a proactive tool for identifying high-risk sites and preventing potential landslides, ultimately safeguarding human life and the environment. By providing insights into landslide probabilities, this study enhances decision-making processes and facilitates the development of intervention strategies in the domain of landfill risk assessment and management. Dedicated to synchronously acquiring large-area, high-precision, and multi-scale ocean wind and wave information, a novel concept of a spaceborne ocean microwave dual-function integrated sensor is proposed in this paper. It integrates the functions of a scatterometer and SAR by sharing a single phased-array antenna. An overview of the scientific requirements and motivations for the sensor are outlined firstly. In order to fulfill the observation requirements of both the functions, the constraints on the system parameters such as frequency, antenna size, and incidence angle are analyzed. Then, the selection principles of these parameters are discussed within the limitations of antenna area, bandwidth, available time, and cost. Additionally, the constraints on the time sequence of transmitting and receiving pulses are derived to ensure that there is no conflict when the two functions operate simultaneously. Subsequently, a method for jointly designing the pulse repetition frequency (PRF) of both the functions is introduced, along with zebra maps to verify its effectiveness. Playing a crucial role in ocean activities, internal solitary waves (ISWs) are of significant importance. Currently, the use of deep learning for detecting ISWs in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery is gaining growing attention. However, these approaches often demand a considerable number of labeled images, which can be challenging to acquire in practice. In this study, we propose an innovative method employing a pyramidal conditional generative adversarial network (PCGAN). At each scale, it employs the framework of a conditional generative adversarial network (CGAN), comprising a generator and a discriminator. The generator works to produce internal wave patterns as authentically as possible, while the discriminator is designed to differentiate between images generated by the generator and reference images. The architecture based on pyramids adeptly captures the encompassing as well as localized characteristics of internal waves. The incorporation of upsampling further bolsters the model's ability to recognize fine-scale internal wave stripes. These attributes endow the PCGAN with the capacity to learn from a limited amount of internal wave observation data. Experimental results affirm that the PCGAN, trained with just four internal wave images, can accurately detect internal wave stripes in the test set. Coasts are continually changing and remote sensing from satellites has the potential to both map and monitor coastal change at multiple scales. Unlike optical technology, synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is uninfluenced by darkness, clouds, and rain, potentially offering a higher revision period to map shoreline position and change, but this can only be feasible if we have a better interpretation of what shorelines as extracted from SAR imagery represent on the ground. This study aims to assess the application of shorelines extracted from SAR from publicly available satellite imagery to map and capture intra-annual to inter-annual shoreline variability. This is assessed in three tidally controlled coastal study areas that represent sand and gravel beaches with different backshore environments: low-lying dunes and marsh; steep, rocky cliff; and urban environments. We have found that SAR shorelines consistently corresponded to positions above the high-water mark across all three sites. We further discuss the influence of the scene geometry, meteorological and oceanographic conditions, and backshore environment and provide a conceptual interpretation of SAR-derived shorelines. In a low-lying coastal setting, the annual change rate derived through SAR presents a high degree of alignment with the known reference values. The present study contributes to our understanding of the poorly known aspect of using shorelines derived from publicly available SAR satellite missions. It outlines a quantitative approach to automatically assess their quality with a new automatic detection method that is transferable to shoreline evolution assessments worldwide. Wildfires play a crucial role in the transformation of forest ecosystems and exert a significant influence on the global climate over geological timescales. Recent shifts in climate patterns and intensified human–forest interactions have led to an increase in the incidence of wildfires. These fires are characterized by their extensive coverage, higher frequency, and prolonged duration, rendering them increasingly destructive. To mitigate the impact of wildfires on climate change, ecosystems, and biodiversity, it is imperative to conduct systematic monitoring of wildfire progression and evaluate their environmental repercussions on a global scale. Satellite remote sensing is a powerful tool, offering precise and timely data on terrestrial changes, and has been extensively utilized for wildfire identification, tracking, and impact assessment at both local and regional levels. The Canada Centre for Mapping and Earth Observation, in collaboration with the Canadian Forest Service, has developed a comprehensive National Burned Area Composite (NBAC). This composite serves as a benchmark for curating a bi-temporal multi-source satellite image dataset for change detection, compiled from the archives of Sentinel-2, Sentinel-1, and ALOS-2 PALSAR-2. To our knowledge, this dataset is the inaugural large-scale, multi-source, and multi-frequency satellite image dataset with 20 m spatial resolution for wildfire mapping, monitoring, and evaluation. It harbors significant potential for enhancing wildfire management strategies, building upon the profound advancements in deep learning that have contributed to the field of remote sensing. Based on our curated dataset, which encompasses major wildfire events in Canada, we conducted a systematic evaluation of the capability of multi-source satellite earth observation data in identifying wildfire-burned areas using statistical analysis and deep learning. Our analysis compares the difference between burned and unburned areas using post-event observation solely or bi-temporal (pre- and post-event) observations across diverse land cover types. We demonstrate that optical satellite data yield higher separability than C-Band and L-Band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), which exhibit considerable overlap in burned and unburned sample distribution, as evidenced by SAR-based boxplots. With U-Net, we further explore how different input channels influence the detection accuracy. Our findings reveal that deep neural networks enhance SAR's performance in mapping burned areas. Notably, C-Band SAR shows a higher dependency on pre-event data than L-Band SAR for effective detection. A comparative analysis of U-Net and its variants indicates that U-Net works best with single-sensor data, while the late fusion architecture marginally surpasses others in the fusion of optical and SAR data. Accuracy across sensors is highest in closed forests, with sequentially lower performance in open forests, shrubs, and grasslands. Future work will extend the data from both spatial and temporal dimensions to encompass varied vegetation types and climate zones, furthering our understanding of multi-source and multi-frequency satellite remote sensing capabilities in wildfire detection and monitoring. Extreme climate events such as storms and severe droughts are becoming more frequent under the warming climate. In the tropics, excess rainfall carried by hurricanes causes massive flooding and threatens ecosystems and human society. We assessed recent major floodings on the tropical island of Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria in 2017 and Hurricane Fiona in 2022, both of which cost billions of dollars damages to the island. We analyzed the Sentinel-1 synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images right after the hurricanes and detected surface inundation extent by applying a random forest classifier. We further explored hurricane rainfall patterns, flow accumulation, and other possible drivers of surface inundation at watershed scale and discussed the limitations. An independent validation dataset on flooding derived from high-resolution aerial images indicated a high classification accuracy with a Kappa statistic of 0.83. The total detected surface inundation amounted to 10,307 ha after Hurricane Maria and 7949 ha after Hurricane Fiona for areas with SAR images available. The inundation patterns are differentiated by the hurricane paths and associated rainfall patterns. We found that flow accumulation estimated from the interpolated Fiona rainfall highly correlated with the ground-observed stream discharges, with a Pearson's correlation coefficient of 0.98. The detected inundation extent was found to depend strongly on hurricane rainfall and topography in lowlands within watersheds. Normal climate, which connects to mean soil moisture, also contributed to the differentiated flooding extent among watersheds. The higher the accumulated Fiona rain and the lower the mean elevation in the flat lowlands, the larger the detected surface flooding extent at the watershed scale. Additionally, the drier the climate, which might indicate drier soils, the smaller the surface flooding areas. The approach used in this study is limited by the penetration capability of C-band SAR; further application of L-band images would expand the detection to flooding under dense vegetation. Detecting flooding by applying machine learning techniques to SAR satellite images provides an effective, efficient, and reliable approach to flood assessment in coastal regions on a large scale, hence helping to guide emergency responses and policy making and to mitigate flooding disasters. The characterization of landslides located in remote areas poses significant challenges due to the costs of reaching the sites and the lack of reliable subsurface data to constrain geological interpretations. In this paper, the advantages of combining field and remote sensing techniques to investigate the deformation and stability of rock slopes are demonstrated. The characterization of the Fels landslide, a large, slowly deforming rock slope in central Alaska, is described. Historical aerial imagery is used to highlight the relationship between glacier retreat and developing instability. Airborne laser scanning (ALS) and Structure-from-Motion (SfM) datasets are used to investigate the structural geological setting of the landslide, revealing a good agreement between structural discontinuities at the outcrop and slope scales. The magnitude, plunge, and direction of slope surface displacements and their changes over time are studied using a multi-temporal synthetic aperture radar speckle-tracking (SAR ST) dataset. The analyses show an increase in displacement rates (i.e., an acceleration of the movement) between 2010 and 2020. Significant spatial variations of displacement direction and plunge are noted and correlated with the morphology of the failure surface reconstructed using the vector inclination method (VIM). In particular, steeper displacement vectors were reconstructed in the upper slope, compared to the central part, thus suggesting a change in basal surface morphology, which is largely controlled by rock mass foliation. Through this analytical approach, the Fels landslide is shown to be a slow-moving, compound rockslide, the displacement of which is controlled by structural geological features and promoted by glacier retreat. Remote sensing technologies have been successfully used for deforestation monitoring, and with the wide availability of satellite products from different platforms, forest monitoring applications have grown in recent years. The observed potential in these technologies motivates the development of forest mapping and monitoring tools that could also be used for neighboring applications like agriculture or land-use mapping. A literature review confirmed the research areas of interest in deforestation monitoring using synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and data fusion techniques, which guided the formulation of the method developed in this article consisting of a data preprocessing workflow for SAR (Sentinel-1) and multispectral (Sentinel-2) data and a procedure for the selection of a machine learning model for forest/nonforest segmentation evaluated in different combinations of Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 bands. The selected model is a random forest algorithm that uses C-band SAR dual-polarimetric bands, intensity features, and vegetation indices derived from optical/multispectral data. The selected random forest classifier's balanced accuracies were 79–81%, and the f1-scores were 0.72–0.76 for the validation set. The results allow the obtention of yearly forest/nonforest and forest loss maps in the study area of Bajo Cauca in Colombia, a region with a documented high deforestation rate. Taking the Jiefangzha irrigation area of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region as the research area, the response relationships between the backscattering coefficient and radar frequency, radar incidence angle, root-mean-square height, correlation length, and soil water content under different conditions were simulated using advanced integral equations. The backscattering characteristics of exposed surfaces in cold and dry irrigation areas were discussed, and the reasons for the different effects were analyzed. Based on this, surface roughness models and statistical regression moisture inversion models were constructed through co-polarized backscatter coefficients and combined surface roughness. The correlation between the inverted surface roughness values and the measured values was R2 = 0.7569. The correlation between the soil moisture simulation values and the measured values was R2 = 0.8501, with an RMSE of 0.04. The findings showed a strong correlation between the values from the regression simulation and the measured data, indicating that the model can be applied to soil moisture inversion and has a good inversion accuracy. Compared with previous studies in the same area, the inversion model proposed in this paper has a higher accuracy and is more suitable for the inversion of soil moisture in the Jiefangzha irrigation area. Radar observation is an effective way to understand subsurface structures in terms of the dielectric constant, whose controlling factors include chemical composition, packing density, and water/ice content. Recently, laboratory measurements have shown that the dielectric constant of lunar regolith simulants also depends on the temperature, which has never been evaluated from remote sensing data. In this study, we estimated the dielectric constant from the Miniature Radio Frequency (Mini-RF) data on a lunar crater floor in the north polar region at two different local times (i.e., different surface temperatures). We calculated the dielectric constant using the inversion method and obtained the bolometric surface temperature from the Diviner Lunar Radiometer Experiment (Diviner) data. The histograms of the estimated dielectric constant values are different between the two local times. This could be interpreted as a result of the temperature dependence of the dielectric constant, while further evaluation of the influence of topography on the incidence angle and small surface roughness is needed. Nevertheless, our result suggests that the temperature dependence of the dielectric constant should be considered when interpreting S-band radar observations of the Moon and other celestial bodies with large surface temperature differences. Alfalfa is one of the most widely cultivated perennial legume crops used as feedstock for animals. Efficiently estimating alfalfa yield and quality traits before harvesting is critical for the decision-making process regarding precision management activities and harvesting time to ensure high profitability. Satellite-based radar is a powerful tool in remote sensing for crop monitoring because it provides high-quality data regardless of weather conditions. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the potential use of satellite radar features and environmental factors in estimating alfalfa yield and quality. Alfalfa yield and quality traits, including dry matter yield (DMY), crude protein (CP), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), NDF digestibility (NDFD), and acid detergent fiber (ADF), were collected over 16 alfalfa fields from 2016 to 2021, leading to 126 samples in total. Sentinel-1 radar backscattering coefficients and environmental factors were collected for all the fields across all growing seasons. Five commonly used machine learning models were established to estimate each alfalfa trait separately. The results show that the Extreme Gradient Boosting model consistently performed the best for all alfalfa traits. The accuracy of the DMY estimates is acceptable, with an average R2 of 0.67 and an RMSE of 0.68 tons/ha. The best result for estimating CP was an average R2 of 0.70 and an RMSE of 1.63% DM. In estimating alfalfa fiber indicators (i.e., ADF, NDF, and NDFD), we achieved the highest average R2 values of 0.54, 0.62, and 0.56, respectively. Overall, this study demonstrated the potential use of environmental factors for alfalfa yield and quality estimation in-field before harvesting. However, the Sentinel-1 radar backscattering coefficients did not make significant contributions to improving the estimation performance, compared to the environmental factors. Multichannel Synthetic Aperture Radar (MC-SAR) systems, such as Azimuth Multi-Phase Centre (AMPC) SAR, provide an effective solution for achieving high-resolution wide-swath (HRWS) imaging by reducing the pulse repetition frequency (PRF) to increase the swath width. However, in an Electronic Countermeasures (ECM) environment, the image quality of multichannel SAR systems can be significantly degraded by electromagnetic interference. Previous research into interference and counter-interference techniques has predominantly focused on single-channel SAR systems, with relatively few studies addressing the specific challenges faced by MC-SAR systems. This paper uses the classical spatial filtering technique of adaptive digital beamforming (DBF). Considering the Doppler ambiguity present in the echoes, two schemes—Interference Reconstruction And Cancellation (IRC) and Channel Grouping Nulling (CGN)—are designed to effectively eliminate suppressive interference. The IRC method eliminates the effects of interference without losing spatial degrees of freedom, ensuring effective suppression of Doppler ambiguity in subsequent processing. This method shows significant advantages under conditions of strong Doppler ambiguity and low jammer-to-signal ratio. Conversely, the CGN method mitigates the effect of interference on multichannel imaging at the expense of degrees of freedom redundant to Doppler ambiguity suppression. It shows remarkable interference suppression performance under weak-Doppler-ambiguity conditions, allowing for better image recovery. Simulations performed on point and distributed targets have validated that the proposed methods can effectively remove interfering signals and achieve high-resolution wide-swath (HRWS) SAR images. Understanding crop types and their annual cycles is key to managing natural resources, especially when the pressures on these resources are attributable to climate change and social, environmental, and economic policies. In recent years, the space sector's development, with programs such as Copernicus, has enabled a greater availability of satellite data. This study uses a multi-sensor approach to retrieve crop information by developing a Proof of Concept for the integration of high-resolution SAR imagery and optical data. The main goal is to develop a pre-automatized processing chain that explores the temporal dimension of different crop. Results are related to the advantage of using a multi-sensor approach to retrieve vegetation biomass and vertical structure for the identification of phenological stages and different crops. The novelty consists of investigating the multi-temporal pattern of radiometric indices and radar backscatter to detect the different phenological stages of each crop, identifying the Day of the Year (DoY) in which the classes showed greater separability. The current study could be considered a benchmark for the exploitation of future multi-sensor missions in downstream services for the agricultural sector, strengthening the evolution of Copernicus services. One of the world's major agricultural crops is rice (Oryza sativa), a staple food for more than half of the global population. In this research, synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and optical images are used to analyze the monthly dynamics of this crop in the lower Utcubamba river basin, Peru. In addition, this study addresses the need to obtain accurate and timely information on the areas under cultivation in order to calculate their agricultural production. To achieve this, SAR sensor and Sentinel-2 optical remote sensing images were integrated using computer technology, and the monthly dynamics of the rice crops were analyzed through mapping and geometric calculation of the surveyed areas. An algorithm was developed on the Google Earth Engine (GEE) virtual platform for the classification of the Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 images and a combination of both, the result of which was improved in ArcGIS Pro software version 3.0.1 using a spatial filter to reduce the "salt and pepper" effect. A total of 168 SAR images and 96 optical images were obtained, corrected, and classified using machine learning algorithms, achieving a monthly average accuracy of 96.4% and 0.951 with respect to the overall accuracy (OA) and Kappa Index (KI), respectively, in the year 2019. For the year 2020, the monthly averages were 94.4% for the OA and 0.922 for the KI. Thus, optical and SAR data offer excellent integration to address the information gaps between them, are of great importance to obtaining more robust products, and can be applied to improving agricultural production planning and management. Artificial corner reflectors are widely used in the vegetated landslide for time series InSAR monitoring due to their permanent scattering features. This paper investigated the RCS features of a novel dihedral CR under multi-resource SAR datasets. An RCS reduction model for the novel dihedral corner reflector has been proposed to evaluate the energy loss caused by the deviation between the SAR incident angle and the CR's axis. On the Huangtupo slope, Badong county, Hubei province, tens of dihedral CRs had been installed and the TSX–spotlight and Sentinel-TOPS data had been collected. Based on the observation results of CRs with more than ten deviation angles, the proposed reduction model was tested with preferable consistency under a real dataset, while 2 dBsm of systematic bias was verified in those datasets. The maximum incident angle deviation in the Sentinel data overlapping area is over 12°, which leads to a 2.4 dBsm RCS decrease for horizontally placed dihedral CRs estimated by the proposed model, which has also been testified by the observed results. The testing results from the Sentinel data show that in high, vegetation-covered mountain areas like the Huangtupo slope, the dihedral CRs with a 0.4 m slide length can be achieve 1 mm precision accuracy, while a side length of 0.2 m can achieve the same accuracy under TSX–spotlight data. Recently, the earth's climate has changed considerably, leading to several hazards, including flash floods (FFs). This study aims to introduce an innovative approach to mapping and identifying FF exposure in the city of Tetouan, Morocco. To address this problem, the study uses different machine learning methods applied to remote sensing imagery within the Google Earth Engine (GEE) platform. To achieve this, the first phase of this study was to map land use and land cover (LULC) using Random Forest (RF), a Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Classification and Regression Trees (CART). By comparing the results of five composite methods (mode, maximum, minimum, mean, and median) based on Sentinel images, LULC was generated for each method. In the second phase, the precise LULC was used as a related factor to others (Stream Power Index (SPI), Topographic Position Index (TPI), Slope, Profile Curvature, Plan Curvature, Aspect, Elevation, and Topographic Wetness Index (TWI)). In addition to 2024 non-flood and flood points to predict and detect FF susceptibility, 70% of the dataset was used to train the model by comparing different algorithms (RF, SVM, Logistic Regression (LR), Multilayer Perceptron (MLP), and Naive Bayes (NB)); the rest of the dataset (30%) was used for evaluation. Model performance was evaluated by five-fold cross-validation to assess the model's ability on new data using metrics such as precision, score, kappa index, recall, and the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. In the third phase, the high FF susceptibility areas were analyzed for two-way validation with inundated areas generated from Sentinel-1 SAR imagery with coherent change detection (CDD). Finally, the validated inundation map was intersected with the LULC areas and population density for FF exposure and assessment. The initial results of this study in terms of LULC mapping showed that the most appropriate method in this research region is the use of an SVM trained on a mean composite. Similarly, the results of the FF susceptibility assessment showed that the RF algorithm performed best with an accuracy of 96%. In the final analysis, the FF exposure map showed that 2465 hectares were affected and 198,913 inhabitants were at risk. In conclusion, the proposed approach not only allows us to assess the impact of FF in this study area but also provides a versatile approach that can be applied in different regions around the world and can help decision-makers plan FF mitigation strategies. This study aims to investigate the occurrence of surface displacements in the Canto do Amaro (CAM) onshore oil field, situated in Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, using Sentinel-1 data. The persistent scatterer interferometry (PSI) technique was used to perform the analysis based on 42 Sentinel-1 images, acquired from 23 July 2020 to 21 December 2021. Moreover, information regarding the structural geology of the study area was collected by referencing existing literature datasets. Additionally, a study of the water, gas, and oil production dynamics in the research site was conducted, employing statistical analysis of publicly available well production data. The PSI points results were geospatially correlated with the closest oil well production data and the structural geology information. The PSI results indicate displacement rates from −20.93 mm/year up to 14.63 mm/year in the CAM region. However, approximately 90% of the deformation remained in the range of −5.50 mm/year to 4.95 mm/year, indicating low levels of ground displacement in the designated research area. No geospatial correlation was found between the oil production data and the zones of maximum deformation. In turn, ground displacement demonstrates geospatial correlation with geological structures such as strike-slip and rift faults, suggesting a tectonic movement processes. The PSI results provided a comprehensive overview of ground displacement in the Canto do Amaro field, with millimeter-level accuracy and highlighting its potential as a complementary tool to field investigations. As a city undergoes large-scale construction and expansion, there is an urgent need to monitor the stability of the ground and infrastructure. The time-series InSAR technique is an effective tool for measuring surface displacements. However, interpreting these displacements in a built environment, where observed displacements consist of mixed signals, poses a challenge. This study uses principal component analysis (PCA) and the k-means clustering method for exploring deformation series within an unsupervised learning context. The PCA method extracts the dominant components in deformation series, whereas the clustering method identifies similar deformation series. This method was tested on Kunming City (KMC) using C-band Sentinel-1, X-band TerraSAR-X, and L-band ALOS-2 PALSAR-2 data acquired between 2017 to 2022. The experiment demonstrated that the suggested unsupervised learning approach can group PS points with similar kinematic characteristics. Five types of deformation kinematic characteristics were discovered in the three SAR datasets: upward, slight upward, stability, slight downward, and downward. According to the results, less than 20% of points exhibit significant motion trends, whereas 50% show small velocity values but still demonstrate movement trends. The remaining 30% are relatively stable. Similar clustering results were obtained from the three datasets using unsupervised methods, highlighting the effectiveness of identifying spatial–temporal patterns over the study area. Moreover, It was found that clustering based on kinematic characteristics enhances the interpretation of InSAR deformation, particularly for points with small deformation velocities. Finally, the significance of PCA decomposition in interpreting InSAR deformation was discussed, as it can better represent series with noise, enabling their accurate identification. Coastal wetlands encompass diverse ecosystems such as tidal marshes, mangroves, and seagrasses, which harbor substantial amounts of carbon (C) within their vegetation and soils. Despite their relatively small global extent, these wetlands exhibit carbon sequestration rates on par with those observed in terrestrial forests. The application of remote sensing technologies offers a promising means of monitoring aboveground biomass (AGB) in wetland environments. However, the scarcity of field data poses a significant challenge to the utilization of spaceborne data for accurate estimation of AGB in coastal wetlands. To address this limitation, this study presents a novel multi-scale approach that integrates field data, aerial imaging, and satellite platforms to generate high-quality biomass maps across varying scales. At the fine scale level, the AVIRIS-NG hyperspectral data were employed to develop a model for estimating AGB with an exceptional spatial resolution of 5 m. Subsequently, at a broader scale, large-scale and multitemporal models were constructed using spaceborne Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 data collected in 2021. The Random Forest (RF) algorithm was utilized to train spring, fall and multi-temporal models using 70% of the available reference data. Using the remaining 30% of untouched data for model validation, Root Mean Square Errors (RMSE) of 0.97, 0.98, and 1.61 Mg ha−1 was achieved for the spring, fall, and multi-temporal models, respectively. The highest R-squared value of 0.65 was achieved for the multi-temporal model. Additionally, the analysis highlighted the importance of various features in biomass estimation, indicating the contribution of different bands and indices. By leveraging the wetland inventory classification map, a comprehensive temporal analysis was conducted to examine the average and total AGB dynamics across various wetland classes. The role of antennas in wireless communication is critical for enabling efficient signal transmission and reception across various frequency bands, including those associated with IoT (Internet of Things), X-band, S-band, and RFID (radio-frequency identification) systems. This paper presents a small quadruple-band antenna with 25 × 40 × 1.5 mm3 dimensions designed for diverse wireless applications. It is adept at operating in the S-band (2.2 GHz), wireless local area network (WLAN) (5.7 GHz), microwave RFID frequency band (5.8 GHz), and X-band (7.7 GHz and 8.3 GHz). While the majority of existing research focuses on antennas covering two or three bands, our work stands out by achieving quad-band operation in the proposed antenna design. This antenna is constructed on a semiflexible Rogers RT5880 substrate, making it well-suited for wearable applications. Computer Simulation Technology (CST) Microwave studio (2019) simulation package software is chosen for design and analysis. The antenna design features a comb-shaped radiating structure, where each "tooth" is responsible for resonating at a distinct frequency with an appropriate bandwidth. The antenna retains stability in both free space and on-body wearability scenarios. It achieves a low specific absorption rate (SAR), meeting wearable criteria with SAR values below 1.6 W/Kg for all resonating frequencies. The proposed antenna demonstrates suitable radiation efficiency, reaching a maximum of 82.6% and a peak gain of 6.3 dBi. It exhibits a bidirectional pattern in the elevation plane and omnidirectional behavior in the azimuth plane. Successive approximation register (SAR) analog-to-digital converters (ADC) have the advantages of a simple structure, low power consumption and a small area compared with other types of ADCs, and thus, high-performance SAR ADCs have always been a hot research topic in the industry. In this paper, a 12-bit SAR ADC design with calibration using a hybrid RC digital-to-analog converter(RC DAC) structure is proposed to improve the conversion accuracy of the ADC and reduce the circuit area at the same time. The analog supply voltage and reference voltage of the ADC are 3.3 V, and the digital supply voltage is 1.2 V. The ADC adopts a mixed digital–analog design scheme, in which the internal comparator, latch, DAC capacitor array, etc., are analog parts, and the rest of the SAR algorithms and calibration algorithms are all implemented in digital Verilog code, with a conversion accuracy of 0.8 mV and a calibration accuracy of 0.5 LSB. The ADC can be selectively calibrated, and the simulation shows that the accuracy of the calibrated ADC can be guaranteed to be within 2 LSB under a 14 MHz digital clock with a sampling rate of 1 MHz. After simulation at a sampling rate of 1 MHz and an input frequency of 244 Hz sine wave, the effective bit count of the ADC is 9.54 bits and the SFDR is 63.71 dB. The circuit consumes 1.78 mW with a 3.3 V supply voltage. The overall layout core area is 411 μ m × 517 μ m. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
