In the production of paper cups in industrial factories, it is tried to print high quality cups with less waste loss with the help of sensors and heating resistances mounted on the paper cup machine. In this study, a system that detects faulty products based on image processing and removes it by controlling the machine with servo motors, asynchronous motors and programmable logic controller (PLC) is designed. For fault product detection, classification has been performed using real-time Haarcascade algorithm and You Only Look Once (YOLO) algorithm which is a deep learning methods, and real-time object detection has been carried out using the OpenCv library. With this study, an effective faulty product detection and removing hardware system was realized by adapting artificial intelligence algorithms to a machine used in industry. Based on the results, a whole system can be applied to systems that involve removing a faulty product from a band in any production, packaging etc. facility is proposed. A hardware consisting of servo motors, asynchronous motors and PLC was designed to separate faulty cups from the existing paper cup production machine in this study. Then, a data set composed of 1068 images was created with images taken from the camera for faulty and faultless paper cups. Using this dataset, the effect of different deep learning methods on performance in the real-time system has been examined and successful results have been obtained. Industrial collaborative robots play an essential role in smart manufacturing because they improve productivity while also ensuring workplace safety. However, the development of prognostic and health management systems to ensure the reliability of these robots has been a major challenge due to the lack of fault data. This paper proposed a digital twin scheme based on the fusion of the robot kinematic and dynamic models' information down to the powertrains (i.e., the joints motor, and gear) along with the control algorithms and uncertainty accommodation based upon deep learning. The presented digital twin concept has the potential to propel simulation-based fault prediction. Handover (HO) management in Heterogeneous Networks (HetNets) poses challenges arising from network densification and dynamic environmental behaviors. Existing HO decision algorithms struggle to efficiently utilize network resources and ensure a high-quality user experience amidst the complexity of HetNets and the burgeoning growth of mobile users. This paper introduces a robust and data-driven HO decision model designed to enhance HO performance in HetNets. Initially, a conventional HO decision algorithm is developed based on users' Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP) values in MATLAB. Various simulation cases explore different HO parameters to observe their impact on handover performance. To address these challenges, a data-driven HO decision model leveraging Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), a deep learning technique, is proposed for the regression task. The LSTM model is trained and tested using obtained RSRP values, and the future RSRP values predicted by the model are employed to trigger HO decisions in the proposed algorithm. Results from the traditional HO decision algorithm are compared with those of the proposed machine learning-based approach across various simulation runs, considering average Signal-to-Interference-plus-Noise Ratio (SINR), RSRP, user throughput values, the number of HOs and the Radio Link Failure (RLF) ratio. Different user speeds are also considered to establish a relationship between HO frequency and mobile user speed. 3D printed ceramic parts often have defects due to their inherent brittleness. These defects are of various scale sizes. Detecting these defects, especially with multiple sizes, is a challenging task in the field of detection. Furthermore, there is a lack of surface defect real-time detection systems suitable for industrial applications in this field. Based on this, this paper makes two contributions: the design and development of a real-time defect detection system, and the proposal of a multiscale defect detection method for 3D printed ceramic surfaces within this system. Firstly, the paper establishes the overall structure of the real-time detection system for surface defects on 3D printed ceramic components, and describes the hardware and software components of the system. On this basis, a dataset of ceramic surface defect images is collected and constructed. Then, experimental analyses point out the shortcomings of the You Only Look Once version-5 (YOLOv5) model for multiscale defect detection. To address the shortcomings, the YOLOv5 model is optimized from three aspects, resulting in the Deep separable convolution + residual network-SKNetwork-Efficient Channel Attention Network-YOLOv5 (DepRes-SK-ECA-YOLOv5) model for multiscale defect detection. This model improves the ability to extract and fuse features of defects at different scales. The experimental results show that the DepRes-SK-ECA-YOLOv5 model can achieve 93.5 %, 91.6 %, 94.3 %, and 0.198 s for Precision, Recall, mAP, and Speed for the test set, respectively. This paper presents a comprehensive review of the current research status and advances in air quality prediction methods. Deep learning, a novel machine learning approach, has demonstrated remarkable proficiency in identifying complex, nonlinear patterns in air quality data, yet its application in air quality prediction is still relatively nascent. This paper also conducts a systematic analysis and summarizes how cutting-edge deep learning models are applied in air quality prediction. Initially, the historical evolution of air quality prediction methods and datasets is presented. This is followed by an examination of conventional air quality prediction techniques. A thorough comparative analysis of progress made with both traditional and deep learning-based prediction methods is provided. This review particularly focuses on three aspects: temporal modeling, spatiotemporal modeling, and attention mechanisms. Advances in artificial intelligence (AI) and automated robotics will profoundly influence space operations. By utilising machine learning and deep learning approaches, AI-enabled systems may accomplish tasks as well as improve their own performance. These capabilities are useful in the often-remote settings of outer space and will grow in value as automated space operations become more widespread. As AI extends throughout the space domain, automated algorithms will take on many of the roles that have historically been handled by humans. Artificial intelligence is progressing from theory to implementation in the space environment by exposing new satellites and orbital autonomous vehicles to new data. Even though all initial computational parameters are provided, such systems' outputs can be very unpredictable, putting people, property, and the environment at risk. This paper investigates the application of United Nations space treaties, selected regional AI regulations, and various 'soft-law' instruments and industry initiatives focusing on responsible AI system development to space-based AI systems. Following that, reforms are proposed to clarify the practical relationship between AI systems and the international legal regime that governs space, as well as a 'bottom-up' regulatory approach to better facilitate the future development of regulation governing the use of AI by the global space sector. Nowadays, road safety is a major concern for public authorities on national, secondary and classified roads in developing countries. This paper looks at the problem of non-compliance with road signs and the deteriorating state of roads, which are the cause of many accidents. Road users sometimes miss roadside signs because their attention is focused on the road. At other times, they regularly miss certain road markings or road deformations in unfamiliar areas, which is dangerous for travelers. Ideally, therefore, drivers should be able to be alerted to road signs or deformations from a distance without having to divert their attention. This would make it possible to avoid accidents, especially on national roads between regions of a country and between countries in sub-Saharan Africa. In this paper, we propose a model for the detection and recognition of road signs and deformations using deep learning. The dataset for this model will consist of a hybrid dataset that includes Kaggle data and data from AGEROUTE (Autonomous Agency for Works and Road Management) in Senegal. In addition, the proposed model is trained on two datasets; one for training 80% and the other for testing 20%. Air writing is a unique method that allows individuals to freely write or draw in the air without the need for sensor devices. One of the significant applications is aimed at addressing the challenges faced by dyslexic children, who often struggle with reading, writing, and spelling. Currently, there is a lack of tailored applications to guide dyslexic children through their learning process. This paper presents a groundbreaking solution designed to assist dyslexic individuals in mastering the art of writing alphabets, digits, and words. Using various hand gestures, children can effortlessly write any character, digit, or word on a virtual canvas and memorize them easily through the hand movements. This approach not only makes learning enjoyable but also boosts a child's confidence. Additionally, the application allows children to unleash their imagination by creating doodles. While existing air writing methods have limitations, such as reliance on devices and restricting content to digits and characters within predefined boundaries. These limitations have been overcome in our proposed approach. Leveraging afordable technologies, our system caters to the needs of dyslexic learners and serves as an interactive tool to enhance their writing skills. It also provides a means of communication for the deaf and mute community. Utilizing cutting-edge technologies such as machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, and web development, we have developed a practical application that seamlessly tracks finger movements and gestures, capturing trajectories and images for classification. Our model exhibits remarkable performance, achieving a training accuracy rate of 98.57% for digit recognition, 98.80% for character recognition, and 97.09% for doodle recognition. Breast cancer (BC) continues to be a prominent issue in global public health, emphasizing the need for precise and timely detection. This paper employs a deep learning (DL) approach to introduce an extensive methodology for categorizing histopathology images associated with breast cancer into automated binary classifications. The proposed framework architecture is validated on the standard database which is accessible to the public, called Breast Cancer Histopathological Database (BreakHis). Data augmentation techniques are employed for the pre-processing stage. This paper uses the DenseNet 121 pre-trained model for feature extraction and fully connected layers (FCL) to fine-tune the model further. Fake news generation and propagation is a major challenge of the digital age, resulting in various social impacts namely bandwagon, validity, echo chamber effects, deceiving the public with spams, misinformation, malicious content and many more. The widespread proliferation of fake news not only fosters misinformation but also undermines the credibility of news sources. The veracity of the information is a major concern at all the stages of generation, publication, and propagation. To comprehend the critical need for addressing this pervasive problem, this research paper presents a framework for automatic detection of fake news using a knowledge-based approach. An automatic fact checking mechanism is applied using concepts of Information Retrieval (IR), Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Graph theory. The knowledge base is generated using Twitter dataset, which basically contains four attributes: Subject-Predicate-Object (SPO) triplet, SPO sentiment polarity, SPO occurrence, and topic modeling. These attributes serve as pivotal indicators for the development of a knowledge base, subsequently employed to detect prevalent patterns and traits linked to deceptive or false information. We have employed Named Entity Recognition (NER) model to extract SPO triples and Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) for topic modeling, thereby contributing to knowledge base generation. This paper presents a deep learning-based model developed to accurately classify Parkinson's disease patients using 3D MRI scans and data augmentation techniques. The study aimed to address the research question of whether this approach could effectively detect structural changes indicative of Parkinson's disease and enhance diagnostic accuracy. The model utilized 3D brain MRI scans from the midbrain region and leveraged the domain of data augmentation to expand the dataset and improve generalizability. The testing accuracy of the model was evaluated with and without data augmentation to further understand it's applicability. The paper demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed model in classifying Parkinson's disease patients from healthy controls, achieving a testing accuracy of up to 90.13% with data augmentation. Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) is characterized by low mood, loss of interest and even suicidal ideation. Electroencephalogram based diagnosis of a variety of neurological conditions has been conducted in recent years using modern neurocomputing and deep learning approaches. Privacy is a high concern for medical data over distributed training scenarios. Hence, this paper aims to develop an EEG-based privacy-preserved system to identify MDD through the Federated Learning (FL) approach. In this study, training for 3-channel EEG-based MDD screening is introduced over FL using deep learning (DL) algorithms such as Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), Bidirectional LSTM (Bi-LSTM), Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU), and One Dimensional Convolutional Neural Network (1D-CNN). A privacy-preserving solution for MDD patients utilizing FL is advantageous because clinical data is sensitive and most people do not want to share their personal information. Hence, the analysis of the comparative results for multiple applicable strategies including Independent and Identically Disturbed (IID) data, non-IID data, and algorithms provide proof that FL can be used to train DL models. The MODMA dataset of 3-channel EEG with 26 MDD and 29 non-MDD individuals is used in this paper. Cancer is a life-threatening ailment characterized by the uncontrolled proliferation of cells. Breast cancer (BC) represents the most highly infiltrative neoplasms and constitutes the primary cause of mortality in the female population due to cancer-related complications. Consequently, the imperative for early detection and prognosis has emerged as a means to enhance long-term survival rates and mitigate mortality. The purpose of this survey is to examine peer-reviewed computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) systems that have been recently developed and utilize machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) techniques for the diagnosis of BC. The survey aims to compare these newly developed systems with previously established methods and provide technical details, as well as the advantages and disadvantages associated with each model. In addition, this paper addresses several unresolved matters, areas of research that require further exploration, and potential avenues for future investigation in the realm of advanced computer-aided design (CAD) models utilized in the interpretation of medical images. Furthermore, the integration of Internet of Things (IoT) in BC research and treatment holds immense significance by facilitating real-time monitoring and personalized healthcare solutions. IoT devices, such as wearable sensors and smart implants, enable continuous data collection, empowering healthcare professionals to track patients' vital signs, response to treatment, and overall health trends, fostering more proactive and tailored approaches to BC management. Renewable energy sources, driven by the global concern for climate change and the urgent need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, are gaining increasing importance. Among them, solar energy stands out as a crucial renewable source and accurate solar irradiance forecasting is vital for its effective utilisation. Deep learning (DL) techniques have emerged as state-of-the-art solar irradiance forecasting methods in past years. However, traditional models that are widely used have inferior accuracy in forecasting. To bridge this gap, this paper presents an improved state-of-the-art model that leverages the convolutional property to forecast the time series data. Switchgear is a vital component of modern power systems, responsible for regulating the flow of electrical power. Contact issues, irregular loads, and other similar problems can cause switchgear to overheat, leading to unexpected disturbances and potential damage to the power equipment. Thermal imaging shows significant potential and is increasingly employed to detect faults in power equipment. However, the unique characteristics of thermal images often pose challenges to accurate fault detection. This research aims to study the effectiveness of transfer learning architectures for switchgear fault detection. This paper applies eleven transfer learning architectures, including SqueezeNet, GoogLeNet, InceptionV3, DenseNet201, ResNet50, Xception, InceptionResNetV2, ShuffleNet, EfficientNetB0, AlexNet, and VGG19. The results of the testing phase demonstrated that the application of transfer learning by fine-tuning pre-trained convolutional neural network architectures was highly effective in the classification of thermal images captured from switchgear units. The models achieved accuracy rates between 83.87% and 98.38%, and values of F 1 -Scores between 83.11% and 98.34% in the pre-trained architectures. Forward–backward doubly stochastic differential equations (FBDSDEs) serve as a probabilistic interpretation of stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs) with diverse applications. Coupled FBDSDEs encounter numerous challenges in numerical approximation compared to forward–backward stochastic differential equations (FBSDEs) and decoupled FBDSDEs, including ensuring the measurability of the numerical solutions, accounting for the mutual influences between forward and backward processes, and considering the relationship with respect to SPDEs rather than PDEs. This paper introduces, for the first time, a numerical method for solving multi-dimensional coupled FBDSDEs. By integrating an optimal control-based approach with deep neural networks, it effectively addresses the coupling-related challenges between forward and backward equations. Computational examples of coupled FBDSDEs with explicit solutions demonstrate that the proposed deep learning-based numerical algorithm achieves commendable performance in terms of both accuracy and efficiency. In this paper, we propose a failure-informed multi-stage training algorithm for approximating the double-valley dark soliton solutions of the three-component nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLSE). Although the physics-informed neural network (PINN) method has achieved remarkable results in many equations, it is ineffective when directly applied to the considered equation due to the non-vanishing background of dark solitons and the complexity of the multi-valley structure. To improve the approximation ability of the PINN, the algorithm we proposed generates effective samples adaptively based on Gaussian mixture distribution by combining the time-adaptive strategy, failure-informed enrichment technique, and pre-fixed technique. Furthermore, the algorithm is extended to learn the solution operator of three-component NLSE within a specialized solution space. As a large percentage of faults in transmission lines are single-line-to-ground (SLG) and transient in nature, the use of adaptive single-phase auto-reclosing (ASPAR) schemes is essential. In this paper, a new scheme for ASPAR is proposed to improve the stability and reliability of power transmission lines. The proposed approach distinguishes between the transient and permanent faults by using the feature of Stationary Wavelet Transform (SWT) and Gate Recurrent Unit (GRU) deep artificial neural network. Also, by utilizing another GRU network, the proposed scheme predicts the extinction time of the secondary arc (SA) one power cycle before the complete extinction. This can increase the speed of the faulty phase reclosing in the case of a transient fault. Simulation results carried out on a 400 kV power transmission line in the EMTP-RV and MATLAB software environments illustrate that the F 1 score of the proposed ASPAR in classifying the faults is 99.55 %, and its average error in predicting the extinction time of the SA based on the root mean square error (RMSE) criterion is 0.0557. The utilization of deep learning methodologies for addressing partial differential equations (PDEs) has garnered significant attention in recent years. This paper introduces an improved network structure tailored for the discontinuity-capturing, enabling the resolution of interface problem through a unified neural network framework. Employing the probability space filling argument, we show that our model can generate convergent sequences, where the convergence rate depends on the number of sampling points. Several numerical experiments with regular and irregular interfaces are conducted to elucidate the convergence characteristics, thereby validating the theoretical assertions. Identifying gusts and turbulence events is of primary importance for designing future gust load alleviation systems, calculating airframe load, and analysing incidents. Due to the impossibility of their direct measurement, indirect methods are used and ad hoc experiments are necessary to validate the methodology. This paper employs Convolutional Neural Network and Long Short Term Memory (CNN-LSTM) as well as CNN models for in-flight gust identification. Two aeroelastic models, with different levels of fidelity, representative of a civil and commercial aircraft, are used to generate gust responses to train and test the Deep Learning (DL) models. The results highlight the capability of both LSTM-CNN and CNN models in reconstructing gusts across the entire flight envelope of a civil commercial aircraft. The CNN model demonstrated its ability to identify gusts and turbulence when they occur concurrently, similar to real-world scenarios, in a significantly shorter amount of time. However, towards the challenging onboard SPE missions, most existing Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) methods failed to capture remote vision attention, leading to the reduction of accuracy and robustness. In this paper, we presented an end-to-end multi-task Pyramid Transformer SPE network (PVSPE) consisting of two novel feature extraction modules: EnhancedPVT (EnPVT) and SlimGFPN. The EnPVT module is designed to combine global spatial and channel attention, while the Slim GFPN module can fuse features more effectively. Matrix Fisher and multivariate Gaussian distributions are further employed to model the uncertainty of pose regression to increase its accuracy. Extensive experiments are carried out on challenging SPEED + and SHIRT datasets, to validate the performances on pose estimation and vision-based navigation, respectively. The results show that the proposed PVSPE model achieved high accuracy for SPE on the SPEED + dataset even under different scales and severe illumination, demonstrating its robustness and high generalization. Cameras are rapidly becoming the choice for on-board sensors towards space rendezvous due to their small form factor and inexpensive power, mass, and volume costs. When it comes to docking, however, they typically serve a secondary role, whereas the main work is done by active sensors such as lidar. This paper documents the development of a proposed AI-based (artificial intelligence) navigation algorithm intending to mature the use of on-board visible wavelength cameras as a main sensor for docking and on-orbit servicing (OOS), reducing the dependency on lidar and greatly reducing costs. Specifically, the use of AI enables the expansion of the relative navigation solution towards multiple classes of scenarios, e.g., in terms of targets or illumination conditions, which would otherwise have to be crafted on a case-by-case manner using classical image processing methods. Multiple convolutional neural network (CNN) backbone architectures are benchmarked on synthetically generated data of docking manoeuvres with the International Space Station (ISS), achieving position and attitude estimates close to 1 % range-normalised and 1 deg, respectively, an established rule of thumb for the navigation measurement accuracy during final approach. This paper presents a novel approach for measuring multi-shapes degrees of similarities. A new shape transformation concept is suggested through mapping the closed boundary of the shape using unfolded process into one-to-one equivalent graph (or signal) where ample number of approaches for similarity testing can be applied. The degree of similarity is then measured by calculating the discrepancies between each of the two transformed unfolded-graphs autocorrelation functions. The proposed method is also effective in applying clustering technique for clustering groups of shapes into three hierarchical similarity levels depending on their mutual degree of similarity. The suggested similarity method handles two categories of shapes: geometric and non-geometric. Unlike other well-known techniques in the subject of machine learning and deep learning, the presented method represents a powerful analytical-based technique for similarity analysis of both regular and irregular shapes regardless of size or orientation, and in effectively handling compound or multi-shapes degrees of similarities. Feature extraction and matching play integral roles in autonomous vision navigation. As a typical morphological feature, craters can be used as navigation landmarks. However, the spin of small bodies introduces substantial variations in illumination and viewing angles within acquired images, thereby posing challenges to feature extraction and matching algorithms. The large number of near-Earth asteroids (NEAs) has greatly impacted human space activities and Earth security. However, detecting NEAs in astronomical images with complex, varying backgrounds is still extremely challenging. In this paper, we propose a deep segmentation assisted asteroid tracking algorithm, termed DSAT, to construct a possible pipeline for faint NEA tracking in astronomical images. First, the single-frame object detection problem is converted to a segmentation problem, enabling robust extraction of faint potential moving objects. Then, a multiframe motion prior-based moving object tracking algorithm is proposed to find real NEAs. We further propose a distance tolerance criterion to help DSAT achieve effective tracking in practical situations when detection has partially failed. Finally, the pipeline is tested with both simulated and real astronomical images at different SNRs and in crowded fields. This paper presents findings on machine learning agent behavior prediction in a board game application developed by a group of students. The goal of this research is to create a model facilitating collaboration between a user and an AI to play together in the board game using a Human-in-the-Loop architecture. Featuring a competitive Artificial Intelligence (AI) based on the Proximal Policy Optimization model, this research explores methods to make AI decisions transparent for enhanced player understanding. The paper explores the tensile behaviour of plain weave ceramic matrix composites (CMCs) by employing a nonlinear constitutive model for fibre tow composites, driven by in-situ X-ray computed tomography data. Through the application of a deep-learning-based image segmentation method, the study successfully identified material damage modes, including matrix cracks, fibre pull-out, and interface debonding. Three-dimensional characterisation and quantitative analyses of damage have been conducted. At the mesoscopic level, a theoretically derived nonlinear constitutive model for fibre tow composites, accounting for continuous damage to both fibre and matrix, is established by using damage data. At the macroscopic level, a unit cell model is constructed for the numerical simulation of plain weave CMCs. Material's initial defects are prone to induce crack initiation. External matrix cracks can propagate to tows, and crack deflection may occur during this process. Furthermore, adjacent microcracks have the potential to connect, forming a larger one under high stress. Theoretical results predicted by the nonlinear constitutive model for fibre tow composites under tension exhibit good agreement with test data. In this paper, we consider the evolution of a new probability distribution called the exponential flexible Weibull distribution. The proposed exponential flexible Weibull distribution is obtained by combining the flexible Weibull extension with the exponential T- X strategy. For the exponential flexible Weibull, the estimators of the model parameters are derived mathematically. The appraisal of these parameters is accomplished through a simulation study. The applicability and virtuoso of the exponential flexible Weibull distribution are exemplified via two data sets. Multimodal image registration is applied in medical image analysis as it allows the integration of complementary data from multiple imaging modalities. In recent years, various neural network-based approaches for medical image registration have been presented in papers, but due to the use of different datasets, a fair comparison is not possible. In this research 20 different neural networks for an affine registration of medical images were implemented. The networks' performance and the networks' generalizability to new datasets were evaluated using two multimodal datasets - a synthetic and a real patient dataset - of three-dimensional CT and MR images of the liver. The networks were first trained semi-supervised using the synthetic dataset and then evaluated on the synthetic dataset and the unseen patient dataset. Afterwards, the networks were finetuned on the patient dataset and subsequently evaluated on the patient dataset. The networks were compared using our own developed CNN as benchmark and a conventional affine registration with SimpleElastix as baseline. Six networks improved the pre-registration Dice coefficient of the synthetic dataset significantly (p -value < 0.05) and nine networks improved the pre-registration Dice coefficient of the patient dataset significantly and are therefore able to generalize to the new datasets used in our experiments. Many different machine learning-based methods have been proposed for affine multimodal medical image registration, but few are generalizable to new data and applications. Rolling bearings constitute one of the most vital components in mechanical equipment, monitoring and diagnosing the condition of rolling bearings is essential to ensure safe operation. In actual production, the collected fault signals typically contain noise and cannot be accurately identified. In the paper, stochastic resonance (SR) is introduced into a spiking neural network (SNN) as a feature enhancement method for fault signals with varying noise intensities, combining deep learning with SR to enhance classification accuracy. The output signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) can be enhanced with the SR effect when the noise-affected fault signal input into neurons. Validation of the method is carried out through experiments on the CWRU dataset, achieving classification accuracy of 99.9%. Lung cancer is the 2nd most diagnosed cancer worldwide. The corresponding histopathological analysis, being both costly and time-consuming, demands the commitment of skilled professionals who, while engrossed in this task, experience constraints on their ability to attend to other crucial responsibilities. Moreover, as it is a human-driven process, mistakes may lead to incorrect diagnosis and treatment. Given the disease frequency and mortality, automated diagnostic systems, using Artificial Intelligence (AI), represent valuable improvements in diagnostic timing and overall performance. Recently, Deep Learning (DL) has been widely used for extracting features from histopathologic images approaching more accurate and expeditious analysis. With this line of research in mind, a brief review of recent technical/scientific works within the scope of lung Digital Pathology (DP) image analysis is provided in this paper, covering different computer vision tasks including classification, segmentation, and detection. Furthermore, available datasets and open-source annotation tools capable of providing support to the aforementioned DP-related tasks are also overviewed. Afterward, a summary table and a discussion around the reviewed approaches is provided, consolidating critical information such as technique/DL architecture, involved datasets, metrics, etc. From this study, it was observed that the ARA-CNN technique achieved the highest Area Under the Curve (AUC) ranging from 0.72 to 0.99 for classification. On the other hand, the multimodal-based approach, with an AUC of 0.95, performed better for the segmentation task. As for the detection task, the BCNN approach stood out, achieving a high AUC of 0.988. Wireless capsule endoscopy (WCE) has revolutionized the field of gastrointestinal examinations, being MedtronicTM WCE one of the most used in clinics. In those WCE videos, medical experts use RAPID READERTM tool to annotate findings in videos. However, the frame annotations are not available in an open format and, when exported, they have different resolutions and some annotated artefacts that make difficult their localization in the original videos. This difficult the use of WCE medical experts' annotations in the research of new computed-aid diagnostic (CAD) methods. In this paper, we propose a methodology to compare image similarities and evaluate it in a private MedtronicTM WCE SB3 video dataset to automatically identify the annotated frames in the videos. We used state-of-the-art pre-trained convolutional neural network (CNN) models, including MobileNet, InceptionResNetv2, ResNet50v2, VGG19, VGG16, ResNet101v2, ResNet152v2, and DenseNet121, as frame features extractors and compared them with the Euclidean distance. We evaluated the methodology performance on a private dataset consisting of 100 WCE videos, totalling 905 frames. The experimental results showed promising performance. The MobileNet model achieved an accuracy of 94% for identifying the first match, while the top 5, top 10, and top 20 matches were identified with accuracies of 94%, 94%, and 98%, respectively. The VGG16 and ResNet50v2 models also demonstrated strong performance, achieving accuracies ranging from 88% to 93% for various match positions. These results highlight the effectiveness of our proposed methodology in localizing target frames and even identifying similar frames very use useful for training data-driven models in CAD research. Port wine plays a crucial role in the Douro region in Portugal, providing significant economic support and international recognition. The efficient and sustainable management of the wine sector is of utmost importance, which includes the verification of abandoned vineyard plots in the region, covering an area of approximately 250,000 hectares. The manual analysis of aerial images for this purpose is a laborious and resource-intensive task. However, several artificial intelligence (AI) methods are available to assist in this process. This paper presents the development of AI models, specifically deep learning models, for the automatic detection of abandoned vineyards using aerial images. A private image database was expanded, containing a larger collection of images with both abandoned and non-abandoned vineyards. Multiple AI algorithms, including Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and Vision Transformers (ViTs), were explored for classification. The results, particularly with the ViTs approach, achieved high accuracy and demonstrated the effectiveness of automatic detection, with the ViT models achieving an accuracy of 99.37% and an F1-score of 98.92%. Automatic recognition of surgical phases in surgical videos is a fundamental task in surgical workflow analysis. Previous works on automated recognition of surgical phases utilized popular methods in computer vision but failed to consider the sequential nature of surgical procedures. In this paper, we propose a method that utilizes calibrated confidence scores to dynamically switch between two Transformer-based models, viz., baseline and a separately trained binary classifier model, depending on the calibrated confidence level. Enterprise Information Systems (EIS) comprise components for decision-making in an organization. While traditional Decision Support Systems (DSS) rely on sophistically designed decision models, this approach has its limitations when it comes to making decisions based on large amounts of unstructured data. In this paper, we present the case of online community management, where moderators need to decide if user content (i.e., comments) can be published. We have implemented a moderation platform that utilizes Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning (ML) to support moderators in their decision-making. From the development process and adoption of our platform, which were carried out as a Design Science Research (DSR) project, we have derived six design principles that assist in designing ML-based DSS. Our results imply that an ML-based DSS should be implemented using an open, customizable system, where decisions are made transparent and interpretable to users. For real-life image classification problems, publicly available pretrained deep convolutional neural networks (CNN) are often applied. Such families of architectures as ResNet, VGG, or Inception are usually the first choice because they are widely used and can provide satisfying results. Though universal, such approaches can be too sophisticated and computationally expensive when fitting to certain medical image classification tasks, especially those where images are not varied and do not contain features learnt by the models in the pretraining phase. The question of whether some simplified models, dedicated to such tasks, can be designed is of great concern. We performed a case study, using three datasets from the MedMNIST data collection, to test neural network classifiers with simple architectures. This paper presents simple convolutional neural network architectures that perform for the considered data sets similarly to much more sophisticated pre-trained models and automatic ML environments. Artificial intelligence (AI) is an important enabler of the fourth and fifth industrial revolutions. It has the potential to empower intelligent production systems that are central to industry 4.0 and help place worker wellbeing and the planet at the centre of industry 5.0 processes. However, few studies have considered the different roles of AI in industry 4.0 and 5.0. This paper reports on a bibliometric review of 2887 documents examining the use of AI for industry 4.0 and industry 5.0. We found that scholarly activity increased rapidly from 2018 onwards and can be attributed to a large variety of countries, including India, South Africa and China. Our analysis reveals four clusters in the literature, with two showing particular promise for researchers notably around the themes of industry 5.0 and deep learning. Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) is a standard for formally modeling complex business processes. Manual creation of BPMN models can be time-consuming and error-prone, prompting a need for automation. Existing approaches, such as rule-based methods, machine learning, and machine translation, have progressed but face accuracy and real-world applicability challenges. In this research paper, we propose a novel method for automated extraction of BPMN models from textual descriptions using natural language processing (NLP) tools and deep learning models, including the spaCy library for text processing, a fine-tuned BERT model, and state-of-the-art large language models like GPT-3.5-Turbo and GPT-4. We utilize Graphviz, an open-source graph visualization software, to visualize the extracted processes. Our method supports representing tasks, exclusive gateways, parallel gateways, and start and end events in the generated BPMN models. The evaluation of 31 textual descriptions shows that our method generates process models with 96% accuracy using GPT-4 and 80% accuracy using GPT-3.5-Turbo large language models. Although subject to certain limitations, such as occasional inaccuracies in model outputs and reliance on well-formed input text, our approach offers a valuable contribution to the growing body of research on automating BPMN model generation. The process of manually detecting and removing screws during disassembly can be time-consuming and demanding. Automated systems utilizing imaging and deep learning can rapidly and accurately identify screws based on features like head shape and size. Different deep learning methods have varying screw detection capabilities. Choosing the right method significantly impacts system effectiveness, robustness and efficiency. Several generic deep learning architectures have been proposed to address this problem. However, there is little guidance on their suitability for specific scenarios. This paper aims to provide qualified guidance for selecting suitable deep learning methods for screw head detection. The proposed approach involves researching existing object detection methods and choosing two representatives – one employing a one-stage approach, the other using two-stage. These selected methods will be implemented identically and their performance evaluated via rigorous analysis and comparison. The dataset comprises synthetic and real images of 6 screw types across 3 products. YOLOv5 was selected for one-stage detectors, Faster R-CNN for two-stage. Results show the one-stage YOLOv5 generally outperforms Faster R-CNN in precision, recall, speed and training times, while Faster R-CNN delivered superior recall with smaller training datasets. Modern ransomware implement innovative techniques and tactics to bypass existing security measures. Hence, predicting and forecasting such kind of malware is crucial for enhancing the overall cybersecurity posture in an increasingly digital and interconnected world. In this paper, we propose a proactive approach for predicting ransomware attacks. We integrated a dynamic deep learning algorithm for analyzing memory-based features. This allows us to detect the existence of ransomware indicators regardless of the usage of obfuscation techniques, such as code encryption. Thus, offering advantages in terms of obfuscation resistance, realtime insights threat analysis and adaptability to evolving ransomware threats landscape. Experimental results using recent datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach in identifying modern ransomware samples with a weighted average of 99.98%, 99.96%, 100%, and 99.98% for accuracy, precision, recall and fl-score respectively. In an era dominated by the intersection of advanced technology and traditional industries, the domain of agriculture is on the verge of a revolutionary transformation. This article introduces a solution for vineyard producers, harnessing satellite imagery, weather data, and deep learning (DL) to identify vineyard diseases robustly. This solution, designed for proactive plant health management, stands as a transformative tool towards digital viticulture. Such tools transition from luxuries to essentials as vineyards confront evolving challenges like climate change and new pathogens. Our research builds on the hypothesis that customising deep learning architectures for specific tasks is crucial in enhancing their effectiveness. We contribute by introducing a tailored convolutional neural network (CNN) architecture, developed specifically for the classification of plant diseases using vineyard imagery. The experimental results demonstrate that our custom CNN architecture exhibits performance on par with established state-of-the-art models like ResNet50 and MobileNetV2, underscoring the value of specialized solutions in addressing the unique challenges of viticulture.
