Criteria for hazardous noise are based on TTS. Therefore, the easiest way to measure dangerous noise exposure will be with an instrument simulating growth and decay of TTS. The growth and decay of TTS in the range of interest is approximated with exponential functions. The meter consists of an A-weighted input stage, a logarithmic converter, and a 1ossy integrator. In a varying noise field the meter takes care of the time history of the noise. The output can be read on a monitor plugged into the instrument.
