Human milk expression is commonly practiced among breastfeeding mothers. Their practices, experiences, and perceptions varies due to many underlying environments and issues. This review describes practices, experiences, and perceptions of mothers in expressing milk. Literature search was conducted for peer-reviewed articles on milk expression using Scopus, Krisalis Discovery, CINAHL, and PubMed from 2010 to 2020 for qualitative and mixed studies. This review and reporting was performed according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA). Screening and selection of articles were conducted using Distiller Systematic Review (DSR). Twenty-two qualitative studies were identified focusing on the milk expression practices, experiences, and perceptions of mothers. Their practices indicated time, duration and method of milk expression. The experiences found were on the reasons, challenges, coping strategies and motivations. The perceptions on milk expression were found to influence the experience and practices of milk expression. Human milk expression practices, experiences and perceptions have been highlighted in many studies; however, there is no clear association between practices, experiences and perception. INTRODUCTION: Intimate partner violence may occur among young adults. It is influenced by their perceptions and attitudes concerning this violence. This study aims to develop and validate an educational module on intimate partner violence among young adults in Kelantan, Malaysia. MATERIALS AND METHOD: The study was conducted in three phases consisting of needs assessment, development of the educational module, and content and face validation. Face-to-face interviews were conducted with 10 young adults to identify the needs for this module. The module content was based on several guidelines, relevant literatures, and findings from needs assessment. Content validation was done by six experts and content validity index was calculated. Face validation was evaluated by 30 young adults. The percentage of agreement was calculated for each item. RESULT: The educational module contains five units covering the forms, causes, impacts, and supports in preventing intimate partner violence as well as rejecting it and willingness to disclose. The content validity was good, rated as relevant by all the experts. The percentages of participants in face validation who strongly agreed with the items assessed for all the materials ranged between 70% to 93.3%. Additional comments given by the participants were considered and the module was modified accordingly. CONCLUSION: The module has good content and face validity. INTRODUCTION: Long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) is a feasible solution to reduce unintended pregnancy and abortion rates. Nonetheless, the worldwide prevalence of LARC remains low. The LARC uptake depends heavily on healthcare workers because every LARC insertion requires a clinician's visit, and they are a trusted source of contraceptive information. The study is aimed to explore the trend and distributions of global publications related to LARC and healthcare workers. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Articles related to LARC and healthcare workers were retrieved from the Scopus database. Eligible publications were limited to research articles, reviews, and conference papers published in the English language with no date restriction. The bibliometric data was analysed using Biblioshiny to obtain distributions in terms of the number of publications, journals, countries, institutions, citations, and keywords. RESULTS: A total of 681 eligible publications related to LARC and healthcare workers were retrieved from the Scopus database between 1967 to 2022. The number of publications was low for the first four decades but increased steadily from 2010 onwards. The leading country in this research area was the United States of America and the majority of the most productive institutions were from this country. Half of the frequently cited publications highlighted healthcare workers' bias, attitude, and practice on LARC provision to clients. CONCLUSION: This bibliometric analysis can guide scholars to understand the global overview of research about LARC and healthcare workers. INTRODUCTION: The Risk Perception Survey on Developing Diabetes questionnaire identifies how women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) perceived the risk of developing diabetes after their pregnancy has ended. The objective of this study was to translate and validate an English questionnaire into Malay. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted from February 2019 to July 2019 among 200 women with GDM who attended public health clinics in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The original author of the questionnaire granted us permission to use for this study. The translation of the questionnaire, content, and face validation was performed. It was followed by confirmatory factor analysis using R version 3.5.3 and item analysis for the knowledge domain. The composite reliability and internal consistency reliability using Cronbach alpha were also computed. RESULTS: The Malay version consists of 20 items in five domains; personal control (2 items), optimistic bias (2 items), knowledge of diabetes risk factors (11 items), benefits and barriers of preventive behaviour (3 items), and risk perception (2 items). Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the structure of the model. The goodness-of-fit values were adequate [comparative fit index=0.994, Tucker-Lewis Index=0.990, standardized root mean square residual=0.038, root mean square of approximation=0.021 (90% CI: 0.000,0.064)]. The four domains had composite reliability values between 0.60 and 0.88. The Cronbach alpha value for knowledge of diabetes risk factors domain was 0.843. CONCLUSION: The translated Malay questionnaire is valid and reliable to assess the perception of women with GDM towards their future risk of getting diabetes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The postpartum period is a critical period for maternal and infant health. There is clear evidence showing the short- and long-term health benefits for women to adopt a healthy diet during this period. An unhealthy diet during this period can lead to cardiovascular disease and mental health problem among the mothers. Besides, optimal food consumption during postpartum is crucial to support the additional nutrient requirements for breastfeeding and to reduce postpartum weight retention. Lack of social support and a harmful traditional dietary practices are among the barriers which prevent postpartum women from consuming balanced and nutritious food. Therefore, there is a need for effective nutritional intervention to promote better health for this population. In addition, the intervention should be culturally sensitive to respect the local traditional dietary practices for a better community acceptance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
